One of the GEIST employees I had the honor of designing for the upcoming act 3 of Reflection ttrpg.
thanks to the amazing reception from the folks who tuned into the announcement stream TvT! You get his spectrum of emotions in a single post. Design notes under the cut
First entry
Designing this man was a labor of love. I was tasked with designing a reserved individual who just wants to lay low and get by while giving him his own sense of character. So none of that spiky hair protagonist stuff.
On the other hand, making his hair straight would just run the risk of him being a Satyr look-alike. So that idea had to be defenestrated, too.
I ended up settling for an old classic of mine that's never failed me: cork-screw hair.
I've been getting into drawing hats recently, it makes the Visionary blend in with his peers. Throw that in with a half shaved-head on a pathetic looking old man and you'd get a stamped and approved bisectro design 👍
-----
With the sketch down, it was color placement time.
I had to take into consideration that his hair color provided a balancing contrast to the black of his GEIST outfit that would be later translatable to a casual outfit.
Usually, a good color for that would be RED! The problem: He'd look much like Shadow the Hedgehog. So I just reserved the red for his eye color.
Blue would have been good. But my gut wasn't really feeling it. And I didn't want people to assume he had ties to Ridill.
Frosted tips reminded me of that one B99 gag from years ago where they tied Jake Peralta to a chair and shaved his abhorrent hair off, so blonde was a No.
I was running out of colors on the color wheel.
"Green?" I asked myself, getting desperate. "Won't he look like Breach?"
So I looked inward and examined that I am a SUCKER for characters that show the roots of someone's hair being evident in their design. Born with green hair? You're a protagonist.
Dyed your hair green and left your black colored roots to grow out? Now THAT's a lifestyle choice.
Please tune into the show! I'll be updating this post as more things about him get revealed.

In the middle of a trip, Marcy and Anne take Bessie to find another zapapede canyon to charge Marcy's phone at 20%.
A 6-page marcanne comic for @marcannethology, set sometime during Amphibia season two because I was missing the zapapedes. After watching a bunch of Dungeon Meshi and Amphibia in the same month, I took matters into my own hands.
