no but watching napoleon with a bunch of historians and my principal supervisor was there and they were like what did you think about the movie and i said i had my eyes closed for parts of it bc it was so boring and they were like 'what!' and i had to backtrack like a madman vs my daily supervisor being thoroughly unimpressed by the movie like i was and spending 10 mins with me talking shit about it
#my daily was like 'i had expected it to have much more spectacle like a grand opera but what we got was so bland' i was like yeah same hat#i genuinely do not understand how people find this movie entertaining in any way#it has to be a special achievement that you can make austerlitz And the russian invasion And waterloo boring af#curry rambles#and i don't like the characterisation of napoleon at all and i could tell my daily supervisor didn't either#it's like yeah irl he hated women and he was a corsican upstart but also this movie guy was a complete caricature#zero charm no charisma he was just there to look grumpy all the time. i felt absolutely nothing at the sight of him in any scene#and for a movie that goes all ham on napoleon's misogynism. josephine was literally just there as a tool to leverage that#she had no role for herself whatsoever she was just a sex object. which like. is supremely ironic#also the movie tried to be funny and failed miserably every time#im not even going to touch on the entirety of this movie being historically inaccurate bc other people have done that already but yeah
