#it's like she's stuffing assists down their throat instead of adjusting to their natural hoop god MVP rhythm

Sloot stresses me out with those turnovers, but there's also something to be said about the fact that Chicago seems to only work through her - hence the amazing assists records. Shes incredible, but different styles. With Seattle Sue is directing the plays like a conductor but not always necessarily making the assist - directing it though. (I'm still bitter about Sloots post season record though - it took 2 OTs to break Sue's and suddenly everyone was talking about it like its the same ๐)
Look at the minutes played people!! Sue gets shit done in a timely manner. She's a sweeper. She won in 2020 in 2.5 games. She didn't even need to play the second half of game 3 ๐
Sloot's good, but I'm tired of people going "if only she wasn't playing for Hungary! Then she could lead the national team and we wouldn't have to worry."
Um, hold on a minute. Head-to-head, if it's Sloot versus Gray, why does everyone pick Sloot to fill that role? Why does everyone think she's clearly a better point guard than Chelsea Gray? Where's the data to back that up?
I have a lot of doubts about Sloot's leadership abilities. Sloot wasn't that young in 2014, but she couldn't get one game over on Phoenix? Not one? And she had Elena Delle Donne and Sylvia Fowles? Why couldn't she make things work with EDD and Syl? Why didn't VanderQuig, EDD, Syl, and Epiphany Prince become a dynasty? Um, wtf? It's honestly embarrassing they couldn't get a championship with that talent. They had so much time together and it didn't turn into anything. Both EDD and Syl had to move teams before we saw their full potential.
Vandersloot had all those seasons with Sylvia Fowles and couldn't activate her at all. And Syl was no late bloomer. She'd been destroying in Russia with Sue as her point guard since her Rookie year. But Chicago didn't make use of her in the summer. When Chicago finally got an elite point guard, we should've seen Russian Syl in the WNBA. But Vandersloot couldn't make it happen.
Sloot finally got EDD an MVP in 2015. But Sloot didn't have the leadership to get them past the first round of the 2015 playoffs. Sloot had 14 assists and EDD had 40 points in the elimination game. And they were still eliminated. While Sloot was focused on her assist stats, Tamika Catchings was focused on winning. The difference there is leadership.
Sue activated an MVP in her second season. Gray activated an MVP in her third season. But it took Vandersloot 5 seasons and she had no shortage of talented players on her rosters. Sue makes MVPs. Vandersloot stifles them. And what's the national team about? It's about activating MVPs like Sylvia Fowles and Elena Delle Donne.
No wonder Vandersloot took that Hungarian paycheck. She was sick of Sylvia and EDD.
