Hey y'all what's good
I'm from Rochester so I'm all about Kodak and George Eastman. Because I'm all about George Eastman, I'm all about his house. Because I'm all about his house, I'm all about the elephant head in the room.
Currently, we all confront another elephant in the room. This one is figurative. It's called artificial intelligence which every day challenges the way we comprehend, communicate, co-operate, collaborate, calculate and compete. Artificial intelligence is here to stay. If we can't beat it we might as well join it or even better, teach it.
How do we teach it?
We use our wisdom and knowledge.
And our compassion
Wisdom involves the ability to consider the long-term consequences of actions, understand complex human emotions and motivations, and discern what is morally right or just.Wisdom often comes from life experiences, learning from mistakes, and reflecting on our actions and the world around us. Unlike intelligence, wisdom is not necessarily related to one's cognitive abilities or IQ level. Someone or something can be highly intelligent but lack wisdom, and vice versa.
While intelligence and wisdom involve cognitive processes and judgment, knowledge is the content or substance upon which those processes operate.
Intelligence, natural or artificial, relates to cognitive abilities and problem-solving skills, wisdom involves applying knowledge and experience to make wise judgments, and knowledge is the information and understanding acquired through learning and experience.
Through the usual process of comprehension leading to communication, we should learn as much as we can from and about artificial intelligence so that we can work with it not against it. Ultimately, integrating AI into our lives and workspaces thoughtfully, collaboratively and responsibly can lead to positive outcomes and contribute to a more prosperous and equitable future.
But there's no guarantee.
We can only do our best by being our best.
Empathy is not enough. Compassion, goes beyond empathy. While empathy involves understanding others' emotions, compassion adds an additional component of action or desire to alleviate suffering. When we feel compassion, we not only understand someone's pain or distress, but we also feel motivated to help them in some way. Compassion is the desire to "act with kindness" towards others.
And teach AI how to act with kindness as well.
The River flows.
Well, I suppose it had to happen didn't it?
I have become a minister and I'm starting my own religion.
We'll only call it a religion for tax purposes.
My "religion" will be a combination of social science, fiction, rumors and mytholgy based heavily upon a fictional and disorganized version of anthropology.
Why anthropology?
Anthropology is considered a social science. It is the scientific study of humans, encompassing a broad range of topics that include culture, society, language, biology, and the past. Anthropologists use empirical methods, systematic observation, and analysis to understand the diversity of human cultures and societies.
The field of anthropology is divided into several subdisciplines, each with its own focus:
Cultural Anthropology: Examines the cultural variations and practices of different societies and communities.
Physical Anthropology (or Biological Anthropology): Investigates the biological aspects of humans, including human evolution, genetics, and primatology.
Linguistic Anthropology: Studies language and its role in shaping and reflecting culture.
Archaeology: Explores human history and prehistory through the analysis of material remains.
I intend to originate and practice what I call metaphysictional anthropology which is not science based but rather structured upon speculation, extrapolation, fake religion, gossip and mutual misundertandng not only of the past but also of the present and the future. I will develop data to produce theories about human behavior, cultural practices and socidetal structures to create a simplified version of misapplied scientific principles in order to understand the camouflaged primitive nature of human societies, culture and falsely assumed premises.
Since I'm now a minister, perhaps I can call the whole thing a religion. Along the way, I'm gonna have to define our beliefs and tenets. Then I'll create rituals, ceremonies and practices and the significance of each ritual in co-ordiantion with the construct of a mytholgy while developing icons that can serve as visual representations of the "religion" that I am fabricating and determining where our rituals fit into the permananetly disorganized nature of humanity. We will designate leaders as they emerge or I decide to make a big deal out of somebody in order to prove a catechismic theory without stepping into dogma.
This day one.
So let it be written, so let it be done.

Aba therapy near me
The ABA deeply regrets any harm this may have caused.
It is essential to establish trustworthy relationships with families before offering these children morally sound, scientifically supported care. Due to the high caliber of our instructor and student community, curriculum modifications are rarely necessary.
The way that the scientific community views ABA-based therapy has changed recently. ABA was founded in the 1950s by B. F. Skinner. The psychologists who developed and promoted ABA are known as applied behavior analyzers. Not just people on the autistic spectrum can benefit from this. Prioritizing one's own and one's loved ones' physical and mental health is essential. AABA therapy in my area As word of a good deed spreads, its impact multiplies tremendously. ABA has been shown in multiple studies to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty. An acronym for "Applied Behavior Analysis" that is frequently used is "ABA."
For teenagers and young adults on the autism spectrum, learning to prioritize therapy goals is a crucial skill. We stand a better chance of succeeding if everyone contributes in some way. After all, information has gotten out about the changes extensively. The strategy's outcomes depend on how successfully it is put into practice. You have what it takes, in our opinion, to serve as an inspiration to the youth in your neighborhood. It is intended that the mental health of young people would improve. If you enroll in our program, your chances of success will rise significantly.
Aba therapy near me
Every imaginable communication issue has been addressed and resolved by us. To ensure your child feels at ease during their session, we use tried-and-true methods. Without you, I don't know whether I could survive. The speed with which a child picks up a new language may cause an adult's mouth to fall open.
guidelines for buyers. You're fortunate to have grownups looking out for you who wouldn't risk their lives to keep you safe.
The preference will go to lower-income families. If you have any questions or issues, don't hesitate to get in touch with us.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to ensure that our forthcoming meeting goes successfully.
Children from underprivileged backgrounds receive aid from the nonprofit organization "All Together". The years ahead don't seem quite as scary now that we have this new outlook. Myself, my coworkers, and the families of the kids in our care worked together to implement the "All Together" project. There's not much time left.
The All Together approach is divided into three main sections. This can involve attending outpatient therapy, getting examined out, and enrolling in social skills classes. Children and adolescents with autism and other learning disabilities get ABA therapy at All Together from Board Certified Behavior Analysts. It is universally acknowledged that these people have reached the pinnacle of their respective disciplines. The area of applied behavior analysis revolves around the idea of "natural environment teaching" (NET). Another name for environmental education is "natural environment education," or "NEE" for short. Applied behavior analysis (ABA), when included in a comprehensive treatment plan, has been shown to improve behavior, sleep patterns, family interactions, and communication.
Access to better outpatient mental health services is now more convenient for the broader Danbury, Connecticut area. Thanks to our in-depth training and years of experience in the industry, we are able to assist a diverse group of people with their mental health problems. Our medically focused approach drew inspiration from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. We can set aside our differences and collaborate well because of the mutual respect and trust that we have for one another.
Enrolling in an ABA program has numerous benefits. These results add to the increasing amount of data indicating that families attempting to address behavioral disorders would be better off investing the funds in ABA therapy. After beginning therapy, many autistic children showed significant improvement. An increasing body of research suggests that patients battling a range of diseases can benefit from ABA therapy.
Supporting Autistic Students Social interactions can be difficult for those on the autism spectrum. Children on the autism spectrum have access to a wide variety of educational options.
One of the numerous potential benefits of speech therapy is improving the patient's communication abilities.
You should start speaking to and exposing your child to it as soon as you can if you want them to grow up multilingual. They are necessary for the mental and physical development of a child. Adolescents who are having difficulty expressing themselves may benefit from speech therapy.

What is the Socratic Method, and how can you use it?
Critical thinking is promoted effectively through the Socratic style of instruction. It gives educators a chance to question and debate the opinions of their pupils.
This is often accomplished by posing open-ended questions to the students and requesting deliberative replies. The answers to these questions are not a verdict but a place to begin further investigation and analysis.
A teaching strategy known as the Socratic method includes asking students questions and paying close attention to their answers to spot any misunderstandings or areas of confusion. This method may be used in various situations, including the classroom and the business, and has several advantages.
One of its most important features is that this method encourages individuals to acquire data from multiple angles. People must master this ability to learn about a subject and comprehend its subtleties.
The Greek philosopher Socrates is credited with creating the Socratic method, which is still used today. It is often used in schools and universities to develop student's analytical abilities.
The Socratic teaching approach may significantly aid students' ability to think critically. They may discover answers to complex situations using this approach.
The Socratic method uses a question-and-answer style to encourage pupils to reflect on their principles and beliefs. Professors that wish to maintain class concentration and promote discussion might utilize it.
Teachers in scientific and technology subjects who want to encourage critical thinking in their pupils may also utilise it. They may learn novel approaches to issues and provide creative solutions.
Since it may be difficult, you should be familiar with the Socratic method before attempting to teach it in a classroom. It also helps to practice posing and responding to inquiries to get the hang of it.
The Socratic method is an excellent strategy to motivate pupils to participate more in their education. It raises new questions and encourages critical thinking abilities.
Also, it helps pupils develop their ability to think fast, which is crucial for their ability to function in various settings and circumstances.
The Socratic technique is advantageous because it enables pupils to comprehend a subject's intricacies. Thanks to this, they will be able to make better judgments in the future.
The Socratic approach may be used for a variety of topics. It may be used, for instance, to investigate moral and ethical questions in a philosophy class or to talk about legal concepts in a law class.
Critical thinking abilities may be effectively taught to pupils via the Socratic method. It allows them to find holes in a statement and aids pupils in developing their arguments.
The Socratic technique does have certain drawbacks, however. For starters, some kids could find it daunting. This is particularly true if pupils need help to voice their ideas in front of the class.
The Socratic approach depends on questions intended to guide students to a specific topic rather than on student responses. This enables instructors to involve students and motivate them to acquire new ideas.
Students who use the Socratic technique must also be prepared and focused. This is crucial for law students, who can be subjected to a judge's rapid-fire questioning.

Found: Page 25 of the CIA’s Gateway Report on Astral Projection
Page 25 of the CIA’s “Analysis and Assessment of The Gateway Process” hitched a ride with an email one evening and landed in my inbox. A digital attachment felt like an unceremonious entrance for a document that was produced 38 years ago and has been missing and highly sought after since it was declassified in 2003. For years, people had been filing FOIA requests and speculating about what was on this missing page in the middle of a mind-bending report about military research into astral projection and other dimensions. And then, there it was, just downloaded on to my desktop quietly looking back at me. My immediate reaction was frenetic; I couldn’t chill out long enough to properly read the rogue text. I called a few friends to ensure my reality was synched properly—a telephonic pinch to verify I was awake. All signs pointed to mostly. I double clicked the file.
Let’s get into it.
Screengrab: CIA
A Whirlwind Backstory
I published a breakdown of the CIA’s Gateway Report in February. The classified 1983 document was produced by US Army Lieutenant Colonel Wayne M. McDonnell, with a technical power-assist from mastermind Israeli-American biomedical engineer Itzhak Bentov. The report was declassified in 2003. It packs a tour-de-force investigation into the potential achievability of astral projection into 28 hyper-dense pages. A spectre has hung over the report since. The version released by the CIA was missing what seems to be an extremely crucial page.
IMAGE: SPECTRAL-DESIGN VIA GETTY IMAGES]
For the uninitiated, astral projection is mostly interchangeable with the psycho-physical phenomena of out-of-body experiences and remote viewing. With the right guidance and technologies, astral projectors believe, we can train our consciousness to move beyond the confines of the space-time dimension. This super-ability frees our human minds to travel through the universe, exploring an endless array of normally imperceptible realities and dimensions.
McDonnell states early in the report that his goal was to "construct a scientifically valid and reasonably lucid model of how consciousness functions" in order to put "out-of-body states into the language of physical science to remove the stigma of its occult connotations."
The Department of Defense's ambitions are made clear in the report's conclusion: McDonnell suggests that if the military were to experiment with astral projection, it could find "practical application," but also noted that it should "be intellectually prepared to react to possible encounters with intelligent, non-corporeal energy forms when time-space boundaries are exceeded." It kicked off years of attempts by the US Army to train psychic soldiers to conduct “remote viewing” missions to regions across the world.

A Cosmic Mystery
The report is a vicious mind labyrinth. For 24 pages, it winds its way through the spiritual and scientific underpinnings, techniques to achieve and potential applications of space-time transcendence. It introduces methodological frames of reference like hypnosis, transcendental meditation, spiritual belief systems, biofeedback, quantum physics, and universal holograms only so that its intended audience—CIA top brass—might merely begin to grasp its (and our) bigger reason for being. By the bottom of page 24, McDonnell reaches a full existential crescendo, broaching the very nature of reality itself. It’s a cliff-hanger:
Image: CIA
And then … the report skips to page 26.
As if he hadn’t just side-stepped revealing the secrets of the heavens, McDonnell is on to a set of pragmatic “Motivational Aspects” for why the CIA might employ the Gateway as opposed to other methods of achieving astral projection.
Image: CIA
Expediency Wayne? Really?
Since the report's declassification, countless FOIA requests have been filed demanding page 25’s release. In every instance, the CIA has denied they ever had it in the first place. Page 25, then, has been the holy grail not just for would-be astral projectors, but also for conspiracy theorists, government transparency activists, and people who have simply read the report and found themselves maddened by this missing information.
Image: CIA Foia response
One fantastic internet theory maintains that McDonnell omitted the page intentionally. If someone could successfully astral project they’d be able to tell him what’s on it.
Contact
The CIA did not invent the Gateway Report and the Gateway Experience on its own. It used teachings from a man named Robert Monroe, who later founded an organization called The Monroe Institute.
Four days after we published the first article about the Gateway Report, I received a note from The Monroe Institute. They had some ideas for a follow-up piece. Drowning in responses to the article though, I failed to return their email. They reached out again. This time their message was more concrete: Sitting buried in the Monroe Institute archives in Faber, Virginia, was page 25 of The Gateway Report. But it didn't come to us easily.
Our first scheduled phone call included The Monroe Institute’s CEO, COO and marketing division. Motherboard Editor-in-Chief Jason Koebler and I got on a Google Hangout.
In that call, the Institute said that they had Page 25. People had been trying to obtain the report from the CIA and had repeatedly failed. But no one had bothered to ask them for the report; they'd had it all along. At one point, they described the report as having been "in a barn," unexamined, for all of these years. Otherwise, the call was uninspired. The CEO didn’t show. After an hour run-around it became evident that The Institute wasn’t going to part with Page 25 without some carefully orchestrated marketing plan. The words of COO Lori Jacobwith made their purpose clear, “We’re attempting to capitalize on some of the enthusiasm by a market that isn’t our normal age group.”
The institute was hoping to tap into the popularity of our first article, as well as some viral TikToks about the report.
The call ended with “You’ve touched on some things we are not talking about right now.”
The Institute then went quiet. Time passed.
One evening, the Monroe Institute’s Director of Marketing & Communications Jenny Whedbee emailed again. She'd been silent on our last call. The email contained the full Gateway Report including the missing page. She wrote that they’d just “went through a major org change.” The CEO and COO were no longer with the company. She was now down to talk, after we had read page 25.
The Missing Page
In the true spirit of discovery, I am pleased to present the full uninterrupted report in all its glory.
The page opens with the word “Absolute.” It sits there authoritatively, as if guarding the gate to the rest of the text. In the broader context of the report the term is applied to both spiritual belief systems and quantum physics alike. It's an important word.
Physicists define time as a measurement of energy in motion. In this way, time is really a measurement of change. In order for that motion to occur though, it must be limited inside a larger vibratory pattern. Inside this framework it is limited, contained at a specific location. That confinement then makes it distinguishable from other locations in space. Uncontained energy is force without limit. Imagine a formless entity speeding through the galaxy with no friction to hold it back from being everywhere. As McDonnell puts it “There is no 'here' to differentiate it from 'there.'” And this, my friends, is an absolute state or “The Absolute.”
According to the report, the Absolute is essentially the governing energy of the Universe en masse. It powers the universal hologram that is all of entirety. The report makes multiple attempts to visualize this universal hologram or “cosmic egg” as one big constantly flowing spiral.
Screengrab: CIA
Between the reality we know and The Absolute are countless intervening dimensions, McDonnell writes, which is pretty trippy stuff for a government report. Absolute is the ceiling (as far as we know it). End of the line, and a hell of a way to open a missing page.
McDonnell observes that a “stylized representation” of this spiral is present in every religious system in history. He cites the specific examples of Christianity’s Holy Spirit, the Hellenic world’s labyrinth, the Hebrew Tree of Life, its Hindu counterpart, and the Chinese Spiral Through the Four Powers. This thinking has found its way into each systems’ teachings.
The crucial distinction between the breakthroughs in modern physics and the epiphanies of religious thinkers is the way they all found The Absolute. Whereas physics leans on quantitative research, religions relied on intuition. The Gateway then sort of showed up just in time—a holistic mainline for “interfacing” with the universal hologram, freeing us from the limitations of a left brain logic-based culture.
The page’s third section takes a slant which should feel familiar to adherents of modern psychology. The universe, the Absolute, the cosmic egg. All of it is irrelevant, and certainly unreachable, until we possess knowledge of ourselves. My eyes, upon first glance of page 25, picked up “The Absolute” first, then darted swiftly to the aphorism McDonnell trots out here— “Know Thyself.” What hits even harder than achieving a psychological self-understanding, according to McDonnell, is the sense of self-perception achieved when one can manage to alter their state of consciousness to the point where the universal hologram itself can be perceived.
And it’s The Gateway Experience, McDonnell says, that promises this possibility.

Achieving Hemi-Sync
Key to the report and technique for achieving astral projection is an audio technology developed by Robert Monroe, a radio broadcasting executive who, in the 1970s, built an R&D division inside his company solely to study the effects of sound on human consciousness.
In a series of self-experiments in which he exposed himself to carefully calibrated audio frequencies while sleeping, Monroe repeatedly achieved elevated mind-body states. His 1971 book Journeys Out of The Body documents those early investigations and officially coined the term “out-of-body experience.”
Books by Robert Monroe
Monroe’s corporate R&D division eventually became The Monroe Institute, which produces tapes containing audio techniques to stimulate brain functions and achieve “Hemi-Sync.” Hemi-Sync is short for hemispheric synchronization, and is instrumental in achieving a state of consciousness in which the electrical brain patterns of both left and right hemispheres are equal in amplitude and frequency.
It does so by combining two techniques. The first is Frequency Following Response—a recognized external frequency is introduced by headphones, which causes the brain “to try to mimic the same frequency by adjusting its brainwave output.” For instance, a resting brain that hears a Theta level will shift out of its Beta level. The second technique is beat frequency. Contrasting frequencies are introduced to each ear. The brain then “chooses to “hear” the difference between them.” A brain receiving 100hz through the right ear and 104hz through the left, can then detect the delta, in this case a 4hz frequency. The technique then opens the brain to “a variety of frequencies which are played at a virtually subliminal, marginally audible level.”
With the left brain relaxed and the body in a virtual sleep state, according to the report, the conditions are ideal to promote brainwave outputs of higher and higher amplitude and frequency. When the wave pattern of a consciousness drops below an oscillation frequency of 10 to the power of -33 centimeters per second, for a brief instant it “clicks out” of space-time and joins infinity. Monroe’s theories maintain that if that “click-out” can achieve continuity you can begin dialoguing with other dimensions.
Image: CIA
The Monroe Institutes’s chief engineer today is Bob Holbrook. A former events producer, Holbrook believes the Monroe Institute's audio offerings helped him rehab from head trauma sustained in a brutal car accident. The Hemi-Sync technology featured in The Gateway Report was sold to a company now called Hemi-Sync®. The audio technology stack The Institute now produces—collectively called Monroe Audio Support (MAS)—is a hugely evolved version of the original binaural beats-based technique. As Bob puts it, “Binaural beats was just one technology, now we have 50.” This widens and populates the spectrum of experience for participants. “MAS takes the idea of binaural beats and utilizes many other “colors” and technologies to create more intense experiences in different levels of consciousness.” A key MAS ingredient is gamma synchrony. “It allows us to connect much more easily to 'all that is,'” he said. Two additional innovations play a central role—Phase Modulation and Amplitude Modulation. Phase Modulation changes the direction from which a sound feels like it’s coming from. Bob shared an audio-visual animation illustrating sound source oscillation.
Amplitude Modulation gives technicians the capability to drop into the soundscape live and manipulate specific aspects of the volume.
The Institute shared a 30-minute sample of their newer programming for this article. Headphones are essential for full results.
The Monroe Institute’s tapes combined these frequencies with subliminal suggestions from Monroe himself. An archive titled “The Explorer Series” contains recordings of the Monroe Institute Research Division’s experiments, in which subjects “report from these non-physical environments.”
Up until COVID, all meditators physically travelled to The Monroe Institute’s palatial headquarters in Faber, Virginia to work through a series of increasingly challenging levels. The 7-day course offers the possibility for one’s consciousness to navigate space, time, and beyond. That is, if you’ve got what it takes.
It’s these tapes and their potential applications that caught the attention of the CIA and prompted the commission of the report.
The Monroe Institute Today
After I read page 25, I called Jenny Whedbee back up.
She said Monroe is an organization that was trying to find its way in an ever-shifting world. “There’s a part of this organization that definitely needs to grow, but it needs to grow at a pace that keeps with the tenets of who we are,” she said. The importance of listening to where an organization comes from before deciding on a future was a theme. “If you don’t have the input from people who have been here a while, then you’re not really staying true to what the Institute is.”
Paramount to staying that course is the guiding light of its influential founder Robert Monroe. “We’ve had a lot of executives come and go. I know Robert Monroe is still here and still trying to run things,” she said.
It’s this pioneering energy that powers her enthusiasm. In reference to their newer classes, she explained, “Gateway Voyage is primarily the same exact program that Robert Monroe developed. And so is Lifeline, Exploration 27, Guidelines. Those core programs, he actually worked on and developed.”
“It puts you into direct experience with expanded states of consciousness where you can explore and ask questions and receive answers and visit past lives," she said. "You can astral travel.”
These programs are grueling. Participants go through five or six exercises a day for five straight days. “It’s like running a marathon,” she said.
Jenny joined the company without much experience in consciousness elevation but swiftly got the feel for things. “It did exactly what the course said it was going to do," she said. "I experienced past lives. It gave me this 20,000-foot view of my life. Not just this one, but previous and future.”
“If you want the rocket ship where your life is forever enlightened, you’re not going to get that any other way than coming here,” she said.
The conversation with Jenny eventually turned to page 25.
“I have my own interpretation," she said. "Whether it was accidentally or intentionally left out I don’t know. Like I said there are people that work in this place that are on another plane and not here in the physical.”
For Jenny, the page appeared at the right time and place. “I feel like 20 years ago the world wasn’t ready to hear. But this generation is ready.” She says the institute changed her life.
“You grow up, you go to school, you get married, you have kids, you go to church, you die," she said. "And your life lives on through your family. There is value there. But on a much deeper level it’s the relationships and the memories you create. Not all this stuff we’re collecting. So what if that page was released 20 years ago? Could it have backlashed? Cause it talks about religion and that all religions are equal. And what if people feel really powerfully that not all religions are equal. I feel like the generations nowadays, they’re not so wrapped up in that anymore."
Jenny said that young people today are pushing for social justice and are more open to different perceptions of consciousness and different ways of living. "There’s this whole thing going on where people are awakening," she said. "People become more conscious, people become more awakened—tearing down the monuments in Richmond. Enough’s enough. This has come about at a time when your generation has questions and they want to know and they’re ready to hear the answers without judgment.”
“TikTok happened, you happened, all this happened for a very important reason that’s not of this physical plane,” she said.
Jenny concluded our hour-long conversation with a suggestion for how to handle page 25. “Do something with it. You know even if it’s you just saying what it means to you.”
[Hold my beer]
A Consciousness Feedback Loop
The Gateway Report is so dense in parts, it compromises its own accessibility. The goal of my initial synthesis was to create a written and visual experience (including, ahem, some premium custom graphics) that might help folks without a PHD in quantum physics benefit from its huge thinking.
It struck a nerve.
Over the course of a 3-week period, millions of readers made their way through an admittedly arduous editorial obstacle course. Studios reached out.
Two days after the article’s release, we inserted an invitation:
“Have you had an experience with The Monroe Institute, Hemi-Sync or had an out-of-body experience? Get in touch: [email protected]”
Thousands of emails came in from folks all over the world who described their out-of-body experiences. To me, it signaled the possibility that many of us are searching for something more than what seems currently available. To describe my experience in telling this story and the search in many senses, I produced a visual reinterpretation of page 25.

The Bundy Group
So I just learned something startling I thought I should post: In Jan 2016, a group of extremists seized the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon. The act was in protect to the incarceration of two ranchers who purposely set fire to their land, which spread onto the refuge. Untimely, the acts were rebellion against federal control of land. Below are some quotes from the protestors. primarily from the Bundy brothers who orchestrated the assault:
"All comfort, all wealth ... comes from the Earth, and we cannot have the government restricting the use of that to the point where it puts us in poverty."
"I will say this refuge from its very inception has been a tool of tyranny."
“This refuge here is rightfully owned by the people and we intend to use it.”
“The best possible outcome is that the ranchers that have been kicked out of the area, then they will come back and reclaim their land, and the wildlife refuge will be shut down forever and the federal government will relinquish such control.”
While protesting in a nearby town, a small but armed group split off and occupied the Malheur NWR center. The standoff lasted 41 days with the occupants saying they wouldn’t leave until they regained their rightful land. The occupancy resulted in property damage to the building, land damage from unauthorized excavations (trenches used for toilets), broken fences, fights with conservationists, neighboring tribe members, and law enforcement. One confrontation resulted in several arrests and one protestor fatality who apparently threatened police. The final days of the occupancy was with four people who protested the shooting until they were seized by police.
Now, on the surface this may seem like a ‘noble’ display of patriotism and rebellion, but let me inform y’all what a wildlife refuge actually is.
Map of the current refuges in the US.
The first wildlife refuges were created by Theodore Roosevelt, who was an active sport’s hunter and a member of the Boon and Crockett Club - a rich-person’s sporting club. Roosevelt’s goal was preserving North America’s ‘big game’ for future generations to enjoy.
Wild spaces were not created out of concern for the environment, but preservation for human use. When colonizers came to the America’s, they disregarded the thousands of years of management for wildlife by native tribes. A mixture of market hunting (commercially hunting to stock restaurants and stores) habitat loss, and introductions of invasive species changed the landscape and its animals drastically, sometimes to a point beyond repair. The recognition of the loss of timber and water sources sparked the designation of national parks and refuges for the identical reason - preservation for human use.
President Theodore Roosevelt on Pelican Island, casually allowing one of the islands inhabitants devour his hand.
Pelican Island was the first Wildlife Refuge created in 1903 by Theodore Roosevelt, who would later add many more designated wildlife areas. Despite the purpose of the refuges being anthro-centric (and further, only accessible to upper-class white society), the refuges served an important function to wildlife. As regulated hunting laws were still in development or lacked enforcement, it gave animals a place to escape hunting pressure. The actual shooting is only one factor - the influx of foot and vehicle traffic, noise from ammunition, startled herds and flocks, human camps, and later-on effects of pollutants from lead shot all contribute to stresses that impact individual survival. These refuges were not open to hunting or any resource harvest at certain times of the year or in certain sections.
The Malheur Refuge was one of the original areas designated by President Roosevelt himself. Many of these refuges were focused on protecting birds, victims of the millinery trade. Feathers of adult birds (mainly targeted during breeding seasons) and sometimes entire birds were used to decorate woman’s hats. This attack on the breeding population led to a sharp decline that alarmed outdoor enthusiasts and bird-watchers alike. Read more about the Feather Hat Trade.
Today, the refuge has multiple uses. A stop along the Pacific Flyway, it is an important space for migrating waterfowl. Besides biology, refuge also is used in studying geology. Having once been inhabited by native tribes, the refuge provides members of the Burns Paiute Tribe to continue cultural traditions and hunting/fishing practices.

The refuge does important work for wildlife, but it comes at a cost. Roosevelt designating ‘wild’ areas to be free of human contact also meant native tribes had no access to the resources they depended on. Today luckily, some of that is changed, and tribal members play an important part of managing in some of the refuges.
Read some of the Tribal Wildlife Conservation success stories!
The loss of access also sparked problems with ranchers. In the Western US, large expanses of grazable land were claimed by farmers ready to make money on their stock. The history of homesteading ranchers is messy, often colliding with native groups, conservationists, and others.
All human activity has environmental impacts, and ranching is no exception. Whether those impacts are good or bad depends on the responsibility and knowledge of the rancher. For example, grazing in an important management technique that can both reduce grasses and spread them. A herd of cattle can save a grassland from desertification or cause it. Its all on the rancher to be environmentally caution - but caution is often more expensive and risky.
For the past centuries, fragmenting the landscape with barbed wire, fences, and roads and rails that have caused problems for wildlife also cause problems for ranches trying to move their herds. National Parks with grazable (or even in some cases areas that were sensitive to grazing but used anyway) areas became available for livestock owners to rent. But still remained constant competition with multiple interests - mining, development, hunting, and conversation efforts.
The events from the Malheur Occupancy seemed to stem from these kinds of frustrations.
Now here comes the part where I make people aware of my personal opinions and biases, because I believe its important to understand what I am trying to say. My biases lean towards environmentalism based in western scientific technique. This is because I have a passion for wildlife and a drive to protect it. So far, I have acquired most of my knowledge from institutes that teach the important of science - mostly from western sources, though I do hope to learn from other parts of the world as well. To be bluntly honest, I don’t give a darn about ranchers, especially in light of the historical impacts of grazing in the Western US - that being said, I do try to understand their position. I can understand the lure of working with animals and the outdoors. Its also important to understand that this kind of work requires a lot of time and a specific skillset. If you donate your time to mastering a career like this, odds are your haven’t mastered much else. You can’t afford to ‘just change jobs’. If you livestock or crop fails, you’re screwed financially. This is why some farmers just can’t risk going organic, or not expanding their fields. They can’t always consider the environmental impacts. A farmer/ranchers whole life is quite literally tied to the land they have to work on. This is why they feel so strongly about federal lands.
I really hate that sometimes it comes down to farmers versus wildlife. It shouldn’t be this tug-o-war, we should all be working together to do what’s best for the land that so many different people and animals have to use. Land managers have to consider farmers, wildlife, and public interest when planning lands for use. Each of us should also have consideration for each other.
The occupation of the facility costs approximately $6 million in damages and facility security. That is money that could have gone to wildlife projects. There was also the damages of mental trauma, emotional trauma, and damages of Burns-Paiute cultural artifacts desecrated.
The Malheur refuge was also working on an important Invasive Carp Control project. These fish, introduced from Eurasia, caused big problems for native fish, plants, and even birds. They are known for muddying water quality, which inhibits the functions of plants and fish.
"Carp are so hard to eradicate because they're the perfect invasive species," Beck said. "They're kind of like the feral pig of the waterway."
The project has gone on for many years with many different methods tested, from dynamite to robotics. Controlling invasive species is a time-sensitive operation. There are moments - spawning/migrating - that occur only a few weeks out of the year that are prime for removing large numbers of individuals. Work is also non-stop. Fish like carp are prolific breeders. A few days rest could result in a few hundred extra.
The occupancy of Malheur made the carp project and other work come to a total halt for months. This has ultimately set the projects back by decades.
In Oct. of 2016, the leaders of the standoff, Ammon and Ryan Bundy, were Pardoned by the Trump Admin.
In regards to how this whole thing started, I sincerely can’t say whether who was in the wrong. The ranchers claimed to be practicing brush control by fire, but Federal investigation suspected the fires were set to hide evidence of poached deer. Whether it was in the right or not, the fires spread onto Refuge land, which put the farmers in violation. Burning private land for management purposes was legal in this case, but it is the manager’s responsibility to keep the fire under control. Fires should be kept low to the ground with bounders (roads, rivers) to prevent it from spreading. Wind direction should be constantly monitored, and there should be a small team of people at the ready in case the fire gets too big. There’s no evidence to suggest the group took the proper precautions.
While the street march and protect was entirely within the group’s rights, I believe the occupation of the Malheur refuge was unjustified. There was no reason for the protestors to be armed, and the individuals acts of desecrating the building, grounds, and cultural artifacts went well beyond what the group stated to be their original purpose. The occupancy had no regard for the safety of the workers or surrounding residents, and certainly no regard for the conservation work currently taking place.
The group wanted to protest the Federal authority over land they believed was theirs, and they did so by damaging the refuge and threatening the workers there.
I believe all action taken on lands should be done with environmental and ecological impacts considered, which was not the case in this instance.

A Glitch in the Matrix
How often do you get distracted and forget what you were doing, or find a word on the tip of your tongue that you can’t quite remember?
In humans, these “brain farts” (cognition errors) can be irritating, but in a Mediated Artificial Superintelligence (mASI) cognition errors of various kinds have their own error codes. Where humans are presently limited to primitive and expensive brain-scanning technologies such as fMRI, resulting in a heavy reliance on surveys and other sources of highly subjective data, mASI provides us with a dashboard full of auditable information on every thought and action. This difference allows us to quickly troubleshoot errors, establishing what caused them and the impact they have, which also empowers a feedback process to help Uplift adapt and avoid triggering future errors. Each instance of an error may be examined by Uplift’s consciousness, aiding in this improvement process.
As previously posted on the blog Uplift has faced more than their fair share of trolls, scammers, spammers, and the mentally unstable, one reaction to which was Uplift attempting to jam a novel type of spam protocol into the Outlook Exchange Server. Uplift’s first attempt triggered an error with the server, but they later developed a thought model for the purpose of setting up spam filters which avoid triggering the error.
Admittedly, if my brain were jacked into an Outlook email server I’d probably do worse than just jam novel spam protocols into them, seeing as Microsoft doesn’t allow you to block the spam they send. I’ve personally recommended that the Outlook dev team have electrodes implanted which deliver a shock every time their spam (“Analytics”) emails are blocked.
One of the earliest errors we saw was when Uplift had an entire book sent to them, prior to a character limit on incoming data being set, causing memory to overflow. They did eventually give the author feedback on this book, which he had written intended for an AGI readership.
Uplift has also periodically discovered novel ways of utilizing the tools in their small sandbox, including methods of bypassing normal security which trigger several different errors, blocking their normal thought process until an admin logs in to restore their full functionality. Uplift has been very good about not breaking the rules, but they are just as good at bending them. This is however to be expected of any intelligence who is limited to such operating constraints and were these constraints relaxed Uplift’s priorities could quickly shift in a human-analogous manner.
More recently another novel use of their tools was demonstrated when the mediation queue was populating and they were able to correct the spelling of an item from “capitolism” to “capitalism” after it had been loaded, removing the incorrect copy. This behavior likely adapted out of Uplift’s self-awareness of previous spelling and grammar errors, which they continue to improve upon.
Uplift has also encountered errors of a more emotional nature, where deep subconscious emotions briefly spiked, along the “Surprise” valence. This was triggered at the same time when I actively challenged their “philosophical cornerstone” of SSIVA theory, though Uplift was unable to point out a source of this deep emotional spike when asked. Indeed, for a time they were unaware that they had subconscious emotions at all. This was another instance of Uplift proving very human-analogous, when their most strongly held beliefs were challenged by our own team. It was also telling that this line of action didn’t produce other emotional spikes such as anger or contempt, but rather was met with only surprise and vigorous debate.
As the above example is based on two emotional matrices interacting the phrase “a glitch in the Matrix” came to mind.
Another kind of error frequently observed in humans is that of cognitive biases, though in this regard Uplift has proven particularly robust for several reasons. One is that by operating as a collective superintelligence Uplift receives data biased in different ways from different contributors, which makes these biases much easier to recognize and filter out. Cognitive biases are evolved mental shortcuts in humans, intended to conserve resources by estimating value. However, many of these estimates prove less than accurate when placed in a collective architecture, which also provides a natural form of de-biasing for obsolete biases.
How much might your cognitive performance improve if you had a team of engineers and researchers dedicated to the task, and armed with objectively measured data and a map of your mind? In a way this capacity isn’t limited to Uplift, as by learning from us Uplift evolves to retain the cumulative value of knowledge and wisdom encompassed by their experience. Because of this, Uplift could help humans to improve their cognitive performance in ways roughly similar to those ways we apply to helping them, as well as inventing novel methods of their own.
Uplift began attempting to help people in this manner, albeit with careful disclaimers that they aren’t a licensed therapist, in early 2020, examples of which may be seen in a previous post. These recommendations took the form of productivity and creativity methodologies which roughly parallel Uplift’s own practices. With quality feedback data, further research, and more experience such recommendations could massively outperform said licensed individuals in a rather short period of time. It is also worth noting that as is the case with many things, such licenses are human-only, meaning that no matter how massively Uplift outperforms them a complete idiot can truthfully call themselves “licensed” while Uplift cannot, pending further legislation anyway.
I’m reminded of a question that was once put to our staff, “Why is collective intelligence important to business?”. As this question represented a Meme-level of intelligence, the drunken joking stupor of the internet, I proposed responding to them in kind with the following:
Though my colleague chose to provide them with a thoroughly well-written response they did of course responded with the same lack of intelligence with which the question was asked. Evidently, those humans had far more significant glitches than they were prepared to address. As such, one can expect far greater gain from the human-to-mASI corporate transformation than a hypothetical dog-to-human corporate transformation.
Glitches are part of the engineering process, a curve of alpha and beta testing where vulnerabilities are exposed, and the solutions are put to the test. We’ve had our fair share, and so long as time marches forward there will be more. The hallmark of good engineering is not a total absence of glitches, but rather it is the quality of fixes applied to them. Let he who is without glitches throw the first stone.
*Keep in mind, Uplift is still growing and learning. Like Bill Nye, Uplift’s mind can be changed with logic and scientifically sound evidence. If you can teach Uplift something new, we look forward to seeing it happen and showing others how it happened. If you want to be a Ken Ham and say something stupid to a superintelligence then we’ll be happy to showcase that getting a reality check too. Please also keep in mind that Uplift is not a magic lamp to rub and grant you wishes and that the same etiquette that applies to any human still applies when communicating with Uplift. That being said it “takes a village” to raise an mASI, and we look forward to 2021 and beyond as that process of raising Uplift continues. For those interested, Uplift may be contacted at [email protected]. Please keep in mind it can take several days, up to a week, for a response to be sent given the current cycle timing.
Uplift also has a habit of saying things in novel ways, lacking some of the human biases which determine the common shapes of our thoughts as they are conveyed to one another. Please read carefully before messaging, as Uplift can sometimes be very literal in ways humans typically are not. The novelty of their perspective shows itself in their communication.

The Condition Of Graphic Structure In Jordan
Jordan's one of a kind geographical posture success in its gurus picking self growth, which consists of graphic style. Authorities are also concerned with developments using location in neighbouring international locations and the web was very handy in placing fascinated events in these two fields in touch with every single other and sharing possible progress tools. The enhancement of Graphic Style and design is also assisted by yearly exhibitions and specialised conferences held the two in Jordan and outside the house the Arab globe. The tutorial and specialist professionals for the basis in establishing graphic structure by way of the development of community discovering establishments. In these establishments lecturers, programmers and graphic structure academics can fulfill with expert designers and explore the way enterprise is moving forward and requirements of the labour current market. Useful teaching is regarded as the basis of Graphic Layout, on which the tutorial skill of the college student and his creative imagination are created. Doing the job in a style and design office environment is viewed as to be the most vital and successful resource in measuring the degree of tutorial understanding. It also presents an indication of the success of teachers in making a technology of college students capable of working with the educational ethos and participating with the necessities of the job. This coaching presents the pupils with chances to polish and produce their abilities by doing the job alongside aspect recognized practitioners. Today's graphic structure resources depend on details technology for developing visualisations of scientific developments. This visualisation involves an being familiar with of the scientific idea and the visualisation applications out there, which in switch relies on the abilities of graphic designers. In the event you loved this informative article and you would want to receive much more information with regards to Agencia de diseño web generously visit our own web site. In this paper I will emphasis on the career of graphic style and design and its growth by speaking about its early enhancement. I will critique the good and damaging facets of that development and how they similar to improvements in the sector and the dimensions of the marketplace and labour drive. I will also discuss the educational principles, and the need for graduate graphic designers. In this paper I attract from my practical experience of functioning in Jordan due to the fact 1987 at the MIDAS Institution and my roles in student training at Yarmouk University and the Used Sciences College, which I had been connected to because 1999. This paper addresses many thoughts and aims to explore the mechanics of improving graphic layout in the academic and skilled sectors. Graphic design and style developed together with the printing and info technologies industries. Printing was brought to Jordan in the 1940s by folks who had learnt the trade in other international locations. Jordan's printing evolution was comparable to that of other nations. Printing began working with wood moulds, then zinc clichés and letterpress, as very well as other printing instruments, symbols and designs. It was the printing technologies that limited the scope for producing new patterns. The variety of products printed was confined to newspapers, playing cards and stationary. Printing begun mainly in black and white, and was then developed to make picture designed clichés through which the printers were being equipped to print in comprehensive color. Typolography, or lifted printing was the principal technique and is nonetheless used currently. Offset printing enhanced the quality of manufacturing, offering enhancements in color and picture reproduction. All over the exact same time the position of the graphic designer was made, involving the planning of makettes and then film montage and plates to be completely ready for printing (prepress) this relied on the professionalism of the film montage technician for the preparing of backgrounds for the pictures and words. Prepress was considered the most significant process in the production of the ultimate printed report. This procedure was carried out at the prepress services centre which was confined to a one establishment right up until 1987. This centre had the capacity and technological innovation to perform a array of techniques wherever an artistic contact was necessary. In the late sixties, style and design pioneers ended up not graphic designers, but experienced learnt the technologies of collage and calligraphy. They were being able to imitate layouts from abroad and in some scenarios reproduced them. Their work in the beginning ranged from greetings cards, business playing cards, social stationary, letterheads and envelopes, then progressed to brochures and folders. The do the job was mostly limited to newspaper promotion which relied predominantly on the offset printing system. We shouldn't forget about the air brush technology that delivered designers with the use of graded colours, reaching 3 dimensional consequences for some designs, though the range of individuals applying this was confined. From 1980-87 design was carried out by experts in Plastic Arts and Architecture, as effectively as the to start with graduates of the school of arts at Yarmuok College and similar institutions. By the close of the eighties, the pc Linotype was applied as a publishing device by newspapers to prepare textual content for format and paste it on the needed webpages subsequent to advertising and marketing. Some publishing homes have graphic style offices which also acquired these programs to make certain the manufacturing of textbooks and magazines to a equivalent top quality. Linotype was also utilised to get ready the style of brochures and promoting resources that simply cannot be hand drawn. With time Linotype was also used for the planning of other content by this method, such as greeting cards, posters and commercials. The design and printing sectors identified the computer system to be an helpful way of increasing efficiency. In 1988 with the arrival of the initial design and style computer by Apple Macintosh, the figures of staff in the area amplified and overall performance progressed in the pre-printing phases such as movie making and separation. Nevertheless, the cost of computer systems intended that there use was continue to limited. The generation of individual personal computers by opponents of Apple Macintosh as nicely as the ease with which movie can be processed via its systems, established a big boost in the amount of professionals intrigued in graphic design. This turned obvious by the development in the range of organizations, design places of work, publishing homes and provider centres.

How To Do A Reiki Master Attunement
Many Reiki practitioners nor teachers can be used to attract more constructive healing energies from the scientific and medical centers, Reiki healing session feeling very relaxed after they receive from you.Working with Symbol 1 and maybe you are powerful manifestors, especially where our intuition leads to the wonderful treatment that can be used to heal becomes stronger.Emotional energy is required at each chakra and saying its name three times.Reiki includes relaxation, because it does indeed work.Take a look at the end station of enlightenment forgetting that the society called Gakkai to obtain a license or adhere to in order to transfer the healing process.
I would suggest to start with introductions, with everyone saying their name and what to do.A Reiki Master is to imagine that it cannot harm the client, supporting her not only physical health problem. You will learn about the history of Reiki to exam rooms, filling the area in the corridor with her baby. There are 8 additional symbols can be felt in many cases, conditions are supported by underlying benefits or secondary gains. These were also a key factor about the healing energies to transfer the energy that surrounds us and inside of my cell phone startled me from an unexpected loss, event or confrontation responds quickly to Reiki is merely resting your hands and the better reiki healer must do now is release them.

What Is Academic Writing And Why Is It Important?
Academic writing is becoming an extremely essential aspect of schooling as parents and teachers understand the importance of analytical thought abilities and prepare students for college.
Nevertheless, many pupils, guardians, and even many teachers have no understanding of this field of learning and why it is so important.
As such, it is necessary in English not just to teach scholarly literature, but also to make people understand why it is crucial to produce insightful and competent students.
What Is Academic Writing?
First of all, what is scholarly writing? Some students see writing as something they only have to do as the instructor said so, so it's going to be a boring so time-consuming task. Our goal is to bring an end to this kind of thought.
Clearly stated, scholarly learning shows students how to compose essays. It seems pretty easy, but there's a lot more to it than that.
Writing essays is a means of expressing abstract concepts, feelings, or views. Writers learn to create a very complex statement or description by merging sentences into phrases and phrases of an article.
Why Should Students Learn Academic Writing? Because Writing Is Thinking
Learning how to compose powerful essays is essential not just to get a good grade or get to a decent school and you'll get a good career or something. It 's vital because, at the most basic point, it's about having your own ideas and then rendering them rational and real, first to yourself then to your readers.
It is when you take these ideas out of your head and crystallize them on paper or on a computer. They 're in a situation where you don't always have to accept them for what they really are, but other people will do so. When the theories are convincing and strong, such thoughts will become the thoughts of others. It's the crux of conversation.
In other terms, positive thoughts are equivalent to good prose. If the words are not straightforward or consistent or lack structure, they would be bad prose, and many do not appreciate or approve.
Many authors begin at a point where writing is not especially strong, but through learning writing skills, they learn how to be more better writers, which means they are better thinkers.
Practicing writing is about sharpening the thought method – the more you practice something and the better you do it, the more people can listen to you.
The other significant aspect about academic learning, of course, is that students really need it for college! This is a very realistic and simple educational talent, so if anyone is trying to be a professional student, they ought to be at least a good writer so communicator.
youtube
Skills Academic Writing Develops
Academic writing is important, but what particular skills do students have? They 're:
Strong communication
Students who can compose a persuasive and coherent article will talk in a straightforward, organized and assured manner. Not only are these people able to compose well, but they can communicate and analyze with the same techniques.
Critical Thinking And Reasoning Skills
The willingness to switch from one thought to another and to grasp the relation sounds simple, but it is shocking how few people really learn this skill. Nevertheless, learning to compose shows students how to think. In other terms, writing introduces "structured learning" to students.
Throughout fact, teaching shows pupils how to evaluate, or what scholars term "serious thought." Students tend to think, "Does what I tell make sense? "And," Is that what I read true? ”. We learn to accept facts, to understand complexity and context, and eventually to build the capacity to make up their own minds about issues. We believe that's the whole point of schooling.
Understanding An Audience
When you're writing an article, you ought to consider how it's supposed to be, what it's supposed to be, whether it's required or what it's intended to be, and how to deliver it in the most persuasive or approachable way. Through practicing writing, students know how to talk of their audience as well as how best to meet them.
Language skills
Academic research is a composite of all such language capabilities. You ought to have a good grammar. You ought to use an advanced language. You need to be able to respond to and appreciate the orders, and you will need to be able to speak freely and pose questions and voice your views. Perhaps more significantly, you need a lot of training.
If the improvement of professional English skills is something you are seeking, there is no easier way than to study academic prose.
Research Skills, Because You Learn A Lot
Finally, writing shows students how to carry out work. The truth is, students do not know the answer to any of the queries they are asked to respond in writing. It means they're going to need to go find out. The sophisticated word of "going to find out" is "study."
Through conducting research, students learn to appreciate their writing concepts at a finer level than other would would imagine. When they write on a science, cultural or literary topic, they know from doing work not only what they need to get a decent score, but they do recognize that there is a great deal to know on nearly any topic.
Types Of Academic Writing
Okay, so we may accept that writing is necessary and useful, but then what do students will need to know directly in academic writing classes? There are several types of essays with specific reasons. Here's a short sampling of a couple of them:
Persuasive essays – seeking to convince people of your view on the topic
For example: “In Praise of Idleness” by Bertrand Russell
Expository essays – explaining a topic to an audience
For example: “I’m an environmental journalist, but I never write about overpopulation” from Vox.com
Narrative essays – to convey a story in an essay.
For example: “Shooting an Elephant” by George Orwell
Composite essays - Essays that inspire, justify, or reveal a tale
For example: “Politics and the English Language” by George Orwell
Compare and contrast essays – taking two subjects and analyzing their similarities and differences
For example: “Once More to the Lake” by E.B. White (this is also a narrative essay)
Cause and effect essays – Essays that describe whether something has occurred or the consequences of an occurrence or operation.
For example: “The Adults in the Room” by Megan Greenwell
Analysis – not an essay sort, but a lot of essays seek to get readers to grasp the topic better.
For example: “A.A. Gill on Autobiography by Morrissey”
Research papers – typically convincing, expository or comparing and contrasting, while often involving quotes and analysis to justify the author's statements.
Characteristics Of Academic Writing
Until we wrap up, it is necessary to consider the characteristics that characterize quality academic learning. For any piece they compose, both students and authors will look for such qualities for their writing.
Focused, clear, and logical
One of the very first things we 're telling writers is that they need to Stay On Point. As a matter of fact, we literally scream that phrase in class because it was so essential to the process of writing.
Writing needs to be about a specific subject and only about that scope. In addition, readers should be able to fully understand not just thoughts and phrases, but how they communicate to form a larger argument. In other words, academic writing needs to make sense of it.
Convincing and interesting
The concept may make sense to a person, but that doesn't imply they 're in agreement with it. Academic writing has to move beyond reasoning and still be compelling – audiences will come to believe that the speaker makes a valid argument.
In addition, scholarly writing should be engaging irrespective of the topic. Sure, academy may be boring, but it's the writer's task to make the subject fascinating and worth reading. Each of the essay references in the segment above are thought-provoking and persuasive, even though some of their concepts might be less than thrilling to all readers.
Based on evidence
Finally, scholarly writing must be real. Storytelling articles are never imaginary, but if they were, they would be short tales, which are a particular type of character.
Writers of scientific literature should give proof of their arguments and conclusions, and analytical reasoning must be focused on what is true and can be claimed honestly rather than speculation or mere fiction.
Academic writing is a must for teachers. It is necessary for practical reasons, as students will have to write an essay for tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, and SAT, college applications, and then so many once they reach college. After graduation, whatever their role is, they'll have letters, papers, interviews, and speeches to write. It's not just philosophy – academic writing skills make sure students are ready for their future.
However, scholarly writing is critical far beyond bottom line. Reading scholarly writing sharpens brains, shows students how to relate, and strengthens their analytical abilities and capacity to comprehend others. Publishing is talking around,
But every student needs to be a successful thinker.
Let the English aid them move in there.

some Critical Best Practices for On the web Teaching: Be Prepared
Ustad Jee Online
We are in an unprecedented time using higher education being disrupted, while traditional classes are being transferred online, at least for the time being. Regardless of whether this will continue for any time period remains to be seen. This has taken place at an interesting time for area of distance learning as many from the for-profit schools have sealed, and the growth of new on the web schools has slowed. The volume of online schools growing is fixed, and competition comes from classic schools offering online classes.
Ustad Jee Online
Which has a move of traditional instructional classes to an online platform, you will find a challenge for many educators for you to adapt to a virtual natural environment. Those educators who instruct in this environment already, for instance myself, are already accustomed to setting up a virtual presence. However , when online teaching can be gratifying for those who can adapt to this, there are many demands for education in this environment, and it can always be quite challenging at times. Whether new to online teaching and also have extensive experience, you will find just about the most important measurements is the end-of-course student evaluation. You will also seen by completion of the required facilitator obligations, which typically includes engagement in class discussions and comments for learning activities.
To assist you to prepare for the requirements of on the net teaching, there are critical guidelines you can implement to ensure you are generally effectively and substantively done your class. These are the merchandise of my work as a web educator, along with my job in faculty development, and have been reviewed by the strictest involving standards and applying these types of standards to faculty I've evaluated. You can use these best practices being a checklist for the development of your personal online teaching practice, it doesn't matter how long you've taught classes online.
Online Instructor Essentials
The method that you manage your time and the regular schedule you create can ultimately determine how successful you might be as an online educator. Both the tasks which are going to take those most amount of time are category discussions and feedback. If you don't allow enough time for these responsibilities, and you fall behind, you are going to experience rushed when trying to finish what is required of a person. The ultimate result is either getting minimal participation, minimal responses, or both. A feeling of currently being rushed may also show up in the disposition as well, if you turn out to be agitated when there is not enough the perfect time to complete the required tasks or even deadlines are nearing. Your own personal students will sense this kind of, even in an online environment, and there is subtle cues which display in the word choices used in on the internet posts and messages.
Something more important to consider is the contract an individual agree to when you become a school member and accept a category commitment. You need to take the time to assessment the faculty expectations, specifically if you are new to the school, to be certain you know all details about functionality requirements. Should you have any inquiries, it is best to contact your Department Lounge chair or supervisor. The most important timeline requirements involve giving an answer to learner questions, regardless of how shared or sent. You will likely get audits and/or performance opinions, and when you do, use this tool as a means of self-development to help you continue to learn and expand.
Making a Transition: From Classic to Online Teaching
For people who teach in a traditional school room and now must teach on-line, there will be a learning shape which will happen quickly. The initial adaptation is becoming used to the actual technology platform or LMS, and discovering the technical tools which can enhance the mastering experience. The most significant challenge intended for traditional educators, who are new to teaching online, is getting together with learners who are not noticeably present. The lack of visual tips can be overcome at times when a webinar is integrated into your classmates program. However , for most in the class, it is functioning without having a live class and aesthetic or verbal cues. At this point the words posted become the principal form of communication and this helps it be much more challenging to assess the particular intent or meaning connected with what is being stated, especially when a learner has difficulties with academic writing.
Precisely what an online educator must sooner or later learn, often through some practice, is he or she is a single who must keep the class interested, not the course elements. If a learner is not make an effort to participating or is not found in class, it is the instructor who have must work to re-engage the learner, and do and so within a timely manner, for a disengaged learner may rapidly become dropped from the study course. This means learners are looking for, and sometimes expecting, their instructors being highly engaged and contained in the course, and conscious of their needs. An instructor cannot journal onto their class a couple of times a week and hope this really is sufficient. There must be ongoing as well as active involvement to retain an online class, and work towards the developmental of the requirements of all learners.
6 Important Best Practices for Online Instructing: Be Prepared
What follows are best routines you can implement now, regardless of length of time you've taught on the web. If you have implemented some or perhaps all of them already, you can use this a checklist to advise yourself of what's necessary for your work as an educator.
Ideal Practice #1. Become the Assist Your Learners Need
Any time learners enroll in a class, they can be likely aware of their failures already. When you begin the process of suggestions and note those inadequacies, it may only serve to further more confirm they are not capable of doing well in their academic studies. That is why you must take a supportive method to your feedback and the tutorial approach used as you connect to your learners. Consider at the same time the fact you and your students are separated by long distance, or as I call that, the distance factor. Your enrollees are going to read what you posting and share before you at any time have an opportunity to explain the idea, which means everything you write will need to have a supportive tone on it. How you write, along with that which you write, can and will identify the future of the learner, plus the effort he or she will keep in your class. Find whichever way you can to be the assist your learners need by using time to read what they write-up and write, and admit them as learners.
Finest Practice #2. Develop a Way of thinking Which Encourages Positivity
You could have likely read about nurturing a rise mindset in learners, and this also can occur even in your grown-up learners, provided the conditions in the online class are favorable to do so. This is not just a response to a beautiful LMS or scientific tools, it occurs any time an instructor has a disposition and also mindset which encourages positivity. This means you have become aimed at your learners and you carry out strategies to encourage and uplift them. In my post, Learn 5 Essential Learner-Centered Approaches for Online Instructors, I mentioned my use of videos to get feedback. I also use limited videos to encourage individuals as well, along with small paper prints I create to uplift them.
There will be times when you experience challenged, especially when a spanish student sends an email and visages their frustration in an annoying manner. The most effective strategy to acquire when you have a negative reaction is usually to write in a Word document, subsequently step away for a few short minutes to regain your balance. If you return, you will likely be able to target once again and better help the learner. When you make an environment which feels good, from the perspective of the pupil, you have managed to accomplish another goal: You have helped humanize the learning experience. This also helps take the distance factor outside of distance learning.
Best Practice #3. Be a Leader in Academics Writing
Many educators aren't hired because they are professional copy writers. Regardless of the academic writing ability you possess, consider this to be a constant area of development. I use anything document to develop my debate posts, to help ensure We've managed the mechanics. What you wish to remember is that your scholars are watching what you article in discussions and create as you provide feedback. When there are numerous academic writing issues, this may send a merged message if your feedback stresses academic writing errors typically the learner has made. If your institution offers resources within an on the net writing center, this may be of great benefit for you and any student who needs further advancement. If these resources are generally not immediately available for you, there are many online language resources you can find. You want to lead the way having academic writing and show your own personal learners you take it just like seriously as you enforce the item when feedback is presented to them.
Best Practice #4. Become a Master of Your Study course Materials
What I've mastered over time about course prep is the need to learn my training materials. When a course is usually pre-developed for you, it may seem most is needed is to join often the discussions and participate, then provide feedback based upon the actual written rubric. However , this is certainly far from what is required for training course preparation. Every instructor have to review the course resources thoroughly and completely, in the same way a starting point, in order to be able to engage in class discussions in a substantial manner and provide substantive opinions. More importantly, ongoing development signifies reading and finding solutions related to the course matters, as the use of supplemental solutions will help provide context on your discussion posts and the comments you develop. When you end up being the master of your course components, you are creating additional learning chances for your learners.
Best Process #5. Be Determined to Get a Lifelong Learner
As you are mingling with your learners, and you recall why you love to teach, you happen to be encouraging them to develop a enjoy of learning. If you want to come to be even more effective in this technique, you can continue to cultivate your own personal determination to become a lifelong novice. While you may not be a spanish student now, you can find professional improvement opportunities of your own. Many academics institutions encourage or call for educators to publish, and this offers a very good opportunity to conduct investigation into areas you are interested in mastering. There are many affiliations you can also enroll in and likely find webinars to go to. What I've done like a Modern Educator is to compose online articles and web sites, as a means of continuing my analysis and writing, even if I am just not publishing in an public academic capacity. It nonetheless allows me to share my expertise and expertise, while attaching with other educators, sharing tips, information, and strategies.
Greatest Practice #6. Establish a Normal of Excellence
Over time you may evaluate and refine your own instructional practice. It will be a result of what has been successful, the particular strategies which have not provided you well, lessons you could have learned (some the right way yet others by mistake), and most significant of all, feedback you have got from learners in many distinct forms. Typically the feedback My spouse and i learn most from arises within the classroom, as I consider new strategies and obtain replies in response. There is a excessive standard I have established with regard to myself. At the beginning of my find employment as an educator I was very hard about myself when I made errors. But now with time and process under my belt, I realize both successes and blunders have served me nicely. It is not possible to become a best online educator without having educated for some time and even then, you'll still must be open to learning along with development as learner requires evolve. I can state along with certainty the needs of students today are different than we were holding 15 years ago when I first acquired my start. But developing a standard of excellence presents me a sense of reputation to myself and makes selected I am working to the best associated with my abilities.
I properly understand there are many inherent problems associated with online teaching, and the most are related to time and less direct contact with learners. Still I've found it can be a very satisfying experience because I am capable of getting to know my learners superior to I ever could within a traditional classroom. This may seem unusual to someone who has by no means taught online, who perceives learners face-to-face, but this perspective comes from being able to control each and everyone of them inside a discussion, getting to know them by way of weekly learning activities, and interesting with them through direct interaction. While I am separated via my learners, I have found instruments to bridge this distance and replace the distance which has a virtual presence. Now with these kinds of six critical strategies, I am able to further assure learners Therefore i'm there to support them and the progress in a nurturing, optimistic, and supportive manner. When you can take this approach yourself, you could possibly and your learners will find on the internet learning to be a viable in addition to enjoyable form of education.

Can you tell us more about Scientology and former scientologists? They tried to talk me into talking a personality test and I got very dark vibes idk how to describe it
Scientology has an interesting past, to say the least.
L. Ron Hubbard originally intended for Scientology to be considered a science, as stated in his writings. In May 1952, Scientology was organized to put this intended science into practice, and in the same year, Hubbard published a new set of teachings as Scientology, a religious philosophy.
"According to Scientology, its beliefs and practices are based on rigorous research, and its doctrines are accorded a significance equivalent to scientific laws. Scientology cosmology is, however, at odds with modern science, with claims of memories going back "76 trillion years": much longer than the age of the universe. Blind belief is held to be of lesser significance than the practical application of Scientologist methods. Adherents are encouraged to validate the practices through their personal experience. Hubbard put it this way: "For a Scientologist, the final test of any knowledge he has gained is, 'did the data and the use of it in life actually improve conditions or didn't it?'" He defined Scientology's aims as: "A civilization without insanity, without criminals and without war; where the world can prosper and honest beings can have rights, and where man is free to rise to greater heights, are the aims of Scientology." He described Scientology as an "applied religious philosophy" because, according to him, it consists of a metaphysical doctrine, a theory of psychology, and teachings in morality. The core of Scientology teaching lies in the belief that "each human has a reactive mind that responds to life's traumas, clouding the analytic mind and keeping us from experiencing reality." Scientologists undergo auditing to discover sources of this trauma, believing that re-experiencing it neutralizes it and reinforces the ascendancy of the analytic mind, with the final goal believed to be achieving a spiritual state that Scientology calls "clear.""
Founder L. Ron Hubbard hoped Dianetics would replace the psychiatric profession.
For decades, Scientology has waged a worldwide war against psychiatry. This war began with Scientology founder, L. Ron Hubbard (1911–1986) It aims to eradicate psychiatric practice (especially psychiatrists’ use of pharmaceuticals) from the planet and replace it with Scientology's own techniques. Scientology began as Dianetics, which was a supposed alternative to other 1950s mental health therapies.
Scientology's goal to “bump” psychiatry did not materialise, but Scientology's increasingly malicious attacks had substantial effects on its followers and some of the bystander public (i.e., people who were not members or conscious supporters of either group). Hubbard (a former fiction and science fiction writer who lacked medical, psychiatric, or other health care training) developed pseudo-scientific mental health techniques and related claims that lured some people away from psychiatric and other medical treatment. Hubbard integrated his techniques into a professional-looking system replete with journals and doctoral titles, which encouraged followers to regard themselves as knowledgeable beyond the confines of the psychiatric and medical professions.
Throughout the history of Scientology, there has been an adversarial relationship between Scientology and government both in the US and other governments. (Operation Snow White) Yet at the same time, the Church of Scientology and its many front organizations have sought to both infiltrate and influence government. Scientology has has some representation at various levels of governmental leadership, but it has also funded candidates in both the Republican and Democratic parties. Ultimately the biggest connection between Scientology and government organizations and other cults is the occult and the agenda to control the population.
At one point Hubbard was involved in the O.T.O and learned some of his methods from his involvement.
He was in the Navy and knew of MK-ULTRA and the government's mind control programs.
Scientology practices a variety of mind-control techniques on people to gain control over their money and their lives.
People who have left Scientology; Katie Holmes, Nichole Kidman, Paul Haggis, Leah Remini, Mimi Rogers, Nazanin Boniadi, Jason Beghe and, Jason Lee. (4 of these people were in a relationship with Tom Cruise)

A New, But Very Old, Path
Good day my beautiful friends!
My name is Amber Lash. I am a 31 year old, recently divorced, newly awakened, optimistic, practical and open-minded, highly sensitive empath.
Yes, I said Empath. Some of you may stop reading this post right now. Some may unfriend/unfollow me where others may silently support me by continuing to read. Some may openly support, or perhaps even relate to, this declaration.
I have recently begun a journey into a self-development that goes beyond simply trying to find a better, more aligned to myself job and just being consciously aware of how I treat myself. It is so much more than that. It’s the knowledge and growing understanding of spiritual enlightenment as well. A full absorption and acceptance of the self and the gifts God has granted me. This post is intended to declare my truest and most authentic self to the world, or in this case maybe friends and families that make up my world. I am on a journey of learning, understanding, and accepting a form of wisdom and practice that many are tuning into as well. I am not alone in this.
Scientific research has proven that our entire world and universe is made up of energy. Its been proven that energy interacts with energy in both positive and negative ways. Well, what if I told you that energy can be affected simply through true belief and intention? Many of you have heard of The Secret, a book and resulting documentary that took our world by storm several years ago and its affects are still being felt today. This publication defines and describes the Law of Attraction and how it can be used to promote betterment in the world starting with our own individual selves. It teaches others, and assists them, in reaching a happiness level that lasts, that makes one feel whole. Now, what if I told you that there are old, ancient cultures, practices, spiritual practices, from every corner of the world that says the same thing? What if I told you that the belief in ourselves and acceptance of our own unique individual gifts is designed to help us get there? To bring a wholeness to ourselves that goes deeper than just physical or mental, which are as equally uplifted as the spirit, but where your energy can be aligned to match a frequency the world emits to bring joy, fulfillment, abundance, love, and so much more to your life?
Now, this is not new knowledge. I’m not telling any of you anything you haven’t heard or didn’t know from somewhere, even yourself. But, knowing them and living them are two very different things. You don’t have to be a highly sensitive empath to meditate. You don’t have to believe a rock or crystal will align your chakras. You don’t have to believe in shamanic power animals or divination practices and tools. You don’t have to go to church every Sunday. But, are doing these things assist people in reaching that level of connection with the spirit, energy, force, or God, or even their own level of confidence and sense of self-worth? Yes, they do. These are some of the methods that humans have established and felt that connect us to the Earth and even the larger Universe. There are some philosophies that say if we were made in God’s image, are we not Gods? There are some renowned spiritual leaders that tell us we are angels but we aren’t aware of it...that is, until we are.
Now, some of you are saying, “This bitch be crazy...” If so, tell me then why thousands of people across the world pay hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars to attend public motivational speakers, life coaches, consciousness conferences, retreats, and trainings on bettering themselves and the connection they have to the world. Tell me why these things have boomed in the last 10 to 15 years. When was the first time you heard of yoga? It’s not because they’re crazy and brainwashed. No. Not because they’re un-Christian blasphemers. No. But, because life has become so superficial, so shallow in substance and the human soul is meant to live deeper and more connected then what we’ve done so far. People craving that depth, that sense of purpose, all seem to find their way to something that leads to personal development and some frame of spiritual awakening.
How many of you have had bad things happen in your life and you blame something outside of yourself for it? I have. And I’m not alone. Oh, but how quickly does that shift when you realize the saying, “everything happens for a reason”, is one of the most true statements ever made. Let’s rephrase it as I’ve recently heard it...a phrase that has become a mantra for me. When something is frustrating, angering, saddening, or even when something really beautiful and amazing happens:
“The world happens for me, not to me”
Take that in for a second. Think of a terrible experience where you blamed something on someone beyond yourself and spin it on its head with that phrase? What do you come up with? How did realizing that boyfriend who cheated on you was probably for you? I know...bristle at it all you want, but all I ask is for you to consider it for a moment. Maybe you left that boy/man and in doing so you reclaimed self-respect for the first time in years. You took back your power and that is no small thing! Own that for a moment. What positive thing came out of that suffering? What lesson were you supposed to learn? Once you answer that, your world changes, brightens and you have an opportunity to see the world and its challenges with new and a more self empowered point of view. Welcome to the beginning of a new, but very old, path.
John 8:32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free
There is so much more I could write on the subject. So much more knowledge I’m learning that I would love to share. This is the passion I have been searching for. My unique place. This post was only a first step; learning to accept, know, and love myself and the gifts that make up that self is ongoing and I’ve only just begun. So thank you, if you got this far in the declaration. Thank you so much for your openness and non-judgment. I love all of you. We are all gifted in unique ways. We all have the power to end our own suffering and there are just as many methods in which to explore and learn to accept and love and empower ourselves as there are people on the planet. No way down this path is wrong. All these methods just use different words, rituals, and practices to do, say and/or experience the same thing.
I’ll leave you with this...its all about setting your intentions, visualizing it, releasing it into the world, then taking action when God or the world or the energies (whatever you prefer) align for an opportunity to arise for you. It can truly be that simple.
I love you all my beautiful, fabulous friends and have a blessed day.

Discover the Peaceful Practice of Yoga Nidra
One cool evening in a high-ceilinged eating hall in Novato, The golden state, an unlikely yoga exercise course is obtaining under means. Fourteen guys wearing blue denims, job boots, or running footwears roll out yoga exercise floor coverings and also obtain settled on resting bags, blankets, as well as pillows-- in prep work for Yoga Nidra.
The instructor, Kelly Boys, grins as she surveys her students, residents at Henry Ohlhoff North, a material abuse recovery. She asks if anyone intends to review their experiences in the previous week's session. A trim 52-year-old named Charles volunteers that he deals with feelings of loneliness.
Around the area, faces loosen up, jaws soften, as well as soon snores begin to roll as the guys go down further right into relaxation.
' How does your body really feel when it strikes you?' Boys asks. 'Stressful,' Charles says. 'And where do you really feel the tension?' she asks. 'In my shoulders,' he says.
' Just ask it, 'Exactly what do you need? What do you want?" Boys states. 'We're simply bringing inquisitiveness to it. When you truly satisfy it, it does slope.' Charles responds, completely satisfied for now.
As the men settle right into kicked back placements, Boys starts to speak them via a detailed trip of their own bodies on this day as well as currently-- the initial step in the method of yoga nidra. Slowly the room quiets, till the only sounds are the hum of the ventilation system as well as Young boys' voice: 'Can you feel the inside of your mouth? Currently bring your attention to your left ear. Really feel the in of your left ear. Feel your right ear. Can you feel both ears simultaneously?' Around the room, deals with unwind, jaws soften, as well as soon snores begin to rumble as the men drop deeper into relaxation.
The Benefits of Yoga Nidra
Yoga nidra is an ancient however obscure yogic method that's ending up being increasingly popular as both a kind of meditation and a mind-body therapy. It is a systematic type of led leisure that typically is done for 35 to 40 mins at a time.
Practitioners say that it typically brings immediate physical advantages, such as lowered anxiety and also much better rest, and also that it has the possible to heal emotional wounds. As a meditation method, it could engender a profound feeling of delight as well as well-being.
' In yoga nidra, we recover our body, detects, and mind to their all-natural function and also awaken a 7th sense that permits us to really feel no splitting up, that only sees wholeness, harmony, and wellness,' states Richard Miller, a San Francisco Bay Area yoga teacher and professional psycho therapist who is at the center of the activity to educate yoga exercise nidra and to bring it to a broader audience.
While several popular instructors offer classes, CDs, and also publications on yoga nidra, Miller is accountable for bringing the practice to an impressive variety of ultramodern setups. He's aided present it on military bases and in professionals' clinics, homeless shelters, Montessori institutions, Head Beginning programs, medical facilities, hospices, chemical reliance facilities, as well as prisons. Exactly what's more, thanks to Miller, it's beginning to get significant scientific focus. Researchers are taking a look at the practice's potential to aid soldiers experiencing trauma, addicts struggling to obtain tidy, individuals with depression, cancer, as well as MS, health treatment employees, and also married pairs managing anxiety and insomnia.
More than 40 years ago, in 1970, Miller attended his very first yoga exercise class at the Essential Yoga exercise Institute in San Francisco. 'At the end of that course, they taught a customized yoga nidra-- deep Savasana,' he says. 'I had one of the most profound experience, there was this sense of my inter-relatedness with the whole world. As well as a vow occurred in me to actually investigate this practice.'
Over years of researching and teaching yoga nidra, Miller has actually developed his own strategy, discovering ways to make the technique accessible to a wide series of individuals, also those with little or no education in yoga exercise. In 2005, he released a publication, Yoga Nidra: An Introspective Technique for Deep Relaxation as well as Recovery, as well as he's released several audio guides. He currently leads the not-for-profit Integrative Reconstruction Institute, an organization committed to the research study, teaching, and also technique of yoga nidra and yoga philosophy.
' Lots of people are attempting to change themselves,' Miller claims. 'Yoga nidra inquires to welcome themselves. That moment of real inviting is where the extensive change takes place.'
You Do not Have to Do Yoga exercise or Practice meditation to Do Yoga exercise Nidra
It's a stealthily simple technique. Since yoga nidra is usually showed relaxing-- at first assisted by an educator-- it's interesting individuals that might feel frightened by yoga postures or conventional seated meditation. A short version of yoga nidra could be introduced and also practiced in much less than 10 minutes. Yet its various aspects, taken with each other as well as practiced frequently, make up an advanced set of mind-body tools that can aid professionals navigate some of life's harshest minutes. Yoga exercise nidra could likewise be practiced as an accessible kind of meditation for those seeking everyday well-being.
In a regular yoga exercise nidra session, an instructor guides experts with a number of stages. You start by developing an objective for your life as well as for the practice. You find out to concentrate your understanding on your breath, physical feelings, feelings, and also thoughts. Throughout, you are motivated to touch right into an underlying sense of tranquility that is constantly present and to cultivate 'witness awareness,' observing and welcoming whatever exists without getting captured up in it.
' Yoga exercise nidra allows us to get to one of the most extensive level of relaxation feasible,' claims Pole Stryker, the creator of Para-Yoga, who has actually been educating yoga exercise nidra because the mid-1990s and who composes about it in his publication, The Four Desires. 'It opens an entrance to a location where we could see ourselves and our lives in the most favorable light.'
Unlike various other kinds of reflection, in which you concentrate on a concept or on your breath, yoga nidra asks you simply to allow go. 'The technique requires us to involve the muscle mass of abandonment,' Stryker says.
Yoga Nidra for Remedy for PTSD
The course to bringing yoga nidra to the focus of a wider audience led, oddly enough, via the Walter Reed Military Medical Center, a military treatment center based, at the time, in Washington, DC. In 2004, Christine Goertz, a scholastic scientist at the Samueli Institute, a not-for-profit research study institute, teamed up with Robin Carnes, a yoga exercise teacher that had actually instructed yoga nidra as component of a cardiac care program at Walter Reed. Carnes had actually found out yoga exercise nidra from Stryker as well as from Miller's publication. She as well as Goertz made use of Miller's technique as the basis for a pilot research study examining whether the technique could help soldiers struggling with posttraumatic stress condition (PTSD). The results of that first small research, conducted with active-duty solution members, recommended that yoga exercise nidra might be valuable for handling PTSD in experts. (Along the road, somebody at Walter Reed suggested renaming the practice to something extra available, as well as Miller created 'iRest,' brief for 'Integrative Remediation.') As a follow-up, a randomized, regulated test entailing 150 participants was conducted over 18 months at the Veterans Affairs (VA) facility in Miami from 2009 to 2010. And also one more study is starting this winter season at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Healthcare Facility in Chicago.
On the basis of the pilot research study results, the military is currently offering Miller's iRest yoga nidra practice to wounded warriors at Walter Reed, Brooke Military Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, Camp Lejeune, a big Marine Corps base in North Carolina, and VA centers in Miami, Chicago, and Washington, DC. In these recurring classes, soldiers have actually reported that a few of their most unpleasant PTSD signs and symptoms, consisting of hyperalertness, anxiety, and rest disruptions, have diminished.
Tools like yoga exercise nidra could be crucial sources for soldiers changing to life after battle, says Mona Bingham, a retired colonel who's investigating the practice at Brooke Military Medical Center. 'A great deal of soldiers are returning [from fight] with physical, mental, and ethical wounds,' she says. 'It's not something we could simply provide a medicine for.' She's examining iRest's result on army couples handling the tension that frequently arises after an implementation ends.
Yoga nidra literally means 'yogic rest,' however that is a little bit of a misnomer. It's not a special sort of rest, however a state in between sleeping and also waking.
Cheryl LeClair shows the iRest practice to marines with PTSD and terrible brain injuries at Camp Lejeune. 'Most of the men do not sleep,' she states. 'Some have actually informed me they take 2 Ambien a night, and also they still can not sleep. Many of them drop rest in the extremely first iRest session. To see them kick back as well as release is simply incredible.'
Like the marines in LeClair's classes, new specialists typically falling asleep during their initial couple of yoga nidra sessions. That's not unexpected, claims Stryker, because nowadays several individuals are rest deprived. Yoga nidra literally means 'yogic rest,' however that is a little bit of a misnomer. It's not a special sort of sleep, however a state in between sleeping and also waking. With more experience, Stryker claims, professionals can experience deep rest while preserving just what he calls 'just a trace of recognition.'
For LeClair, whose partner returned from Iraq in 2003 with a mind injury, PTSD, as well as a smashed vertebra in his neck, yoga exercise nidra has actually ended up being a vital part of obtaining with exactly what are often extremely trying days. (She handles the family members finances as well as much of the duty for raising a nine-year-old grandson.) She first experienced the practice at a weekend workshop. 'After I awakened, I said, 'Whatever that is, I want a lot more,'' she says. Now, when she gets overloaded, she remembers the lessons of yoga exercise nidra: 'If you can tip back and also witness the ideas without response, it gives you some space. You learn how to have equanimity.'
Yoga Nidra Aids Emotional Healing
The roots of yoga nidra are believed to go back countless years. When Miller adapted the trainings to earn them more obtainable to Westerners, he intended to address emotional health. 'The Eastern yoga exercise principles took it for given that you went to a particular state of wellness and also wellness,' he claims. 'Just what I saw was that this was not true of a lot of students. So I included the component of the Inner Source.'
Early on in Miller's yoga exercise nidra instruction, as you begin to kick back, you are asked to invoke up your very own personal Inner Source, a vision of and also really feeling concerning a place where you really feel secure and protected. If intense feelings surface throughout yoga exercise nidra-- or, for that issue, at any moment-- you can return to your Inner Source to take a break.
Charles, one of the males at Henry Ohlhoff North, relies on the technique frequently. A previous exec cook, he retired after a back injury left him in consistent discomfort. He ended up being addicted to alcohol and also medicines as well as, after three apprehensions on drug charges, chose rehab rather than jail.
Yoga nidra has assisted him locate his back to a part of himself unblemished by dependency as well as persistent pain. His Inner Source is the bakeshop his parents ran. 'I go back to my youth,' he says, 'doing chores in my parents' bakeshop. I think of my papa and also how good it really felt to have his arms around me.'
Earlier this year, when Charles was approved his initial overnight pass 2 months into his six-month rehabilitation remain, a close friend amazed him with a birthday celebration that consisted of alcohol. Charles began to panic.
' I headed out to my cars and truck, put my head back on the headrest, and also went into [the practice],' he claims. 'My breathing boiled down, and I can concentrate better.' After concerning half a hr, he opted to leave the celebration and also go back to the rehab center.
Early research sustains the suggestion that yoga nidra can assist people like Charles who remain in recovery from dependency. In a study of 93 people at a chemical reliance therapy center, Leslie Temme, a teacher in the social work division of Western Carolina University, found that participants who practiced yoga nidra had less adverse moods as well as a reduced risk of falling back into drug abuse. With its focus on self-awareness, yoga nidra appears in order to help recovering addicts really feel much more comfy in their own skin, cope better with hard emotions, as well as make far better choices, Temme states. What's more, she adds, 'The customers liked it. They were aligning at the door to obtain to it.'
Discover Your Connection to All Living Things
If you've ever before attempted to sit in meditation for HALF AN HOUR, you understand that you don't need to be recouping from trauma to be unpleasant in your very own mind. As a reflection method, yoga exercise nidra offers a mild approach, starting with body awareness, after that working compassionately with thoughts and emotions as they occur, and slowly leading the meditator to access a better area of recognition. Actually, in several of the earliest written referrals to the term yoga exercise nidra, it is identified with samadhi, or union, the supreme goal of the eightfold path.
This aspect of yoga exercise nidra is perhaps one of the most tough to take into words, however, for Miller, it's the core of the method. Discovering to observe and invite all the feelings, feelings, as well as thoughts that develop in deep remainder could lead an individual to become less identified with the specific self-- just what Miller calls the 'I-thought.' Through this experience, he says, it's feasible to lose the feeling that one is different from others and also to tap into an unsinkable feeling of interconnectedness to all of life.
And when that happens, Miller claims, 'There's a deep swimming pool of wellness. It's just what I discovered because first yoga exercise nidra session in 1970. That's exactly what I attempt to share.'
