What rots away at your insides in the days that follow is nothing pretty — a deep profound obsession that drives your hatred towards a particular man into the skin until it sits engraved there, with wounds oozing blood all the while.

“Have you seen Nightingale around?”

Soojin jerks her chin up at the sudden interruption of your voice cutting through whatever pretty silence she constructed for herself. You feel bad, though only mildly, for disturbing her without warning. It’s become somewhat common to find her in the mess hall these days, with Luca off to the side with the two resident Berserkers. Your stare lingers on Mingi for a few more seconds than necessary. The last conversation you shared with the man rings in your ears like it was mere minutes ago and not several days.

“Um, training room I think? That’s where he’s been hanging around at least.” Soojin passes you a little half-hearted smile. You don’t doubt that your discomfort and likely unabashed anger is on full display to her; however, she opts not to ask further about your reasons for asking, so you deign not to say anything other than a quiet ‘thank you’ and nod your head.

Mingi shifts where he’s kneeling close to the child. His gaze finds yours the second you turn to head out, stopping you in your tracks and forcing you to return the fierce eye contact for several seconds. You let it stagnate for too long, apparently, because the Berserker stands without warning and moves in your direction. You don’t consider your next move to be one of avoidance, though it must look like that to anyone else aside from you with how you retreat the way you came and head for the arched doorway leading out. Mingi persists still.

jfnhfsjhn oh goddd are you sure you want me to start talking about this :) your ask very graciously stemmed from this post from earlier today and since you asked so nicely, I’ll mash some together from the top of my head, I’m definitely forgetting most of what I’d originally wanted to say but I tried to approach this as the version of Din that we know already :: the intimidating exterior but underneath that, he cares. I apologize if this is not at all what you expected and/or does not make sense :)))))

When you first met him, you only knew him as The Mechanic. Your car needed some repairs and a friend of yours suggested this new guy in town that owns a shop out of an old steel garage at the edge of town. 

The silver building shimmers in the bright sun, there’s patchy grass growing through the cracked pavement as you drive up, the only other vehicle on the property is a shiny black car. The place looks deserted until you see someone walk out of the garage. Dark clothing, messy hair, mirrored sunglasses and you begin to wonder if you made the wrong decision coming here by yourself until a little grey pup comes running around from behind him, nearly knocking him down in her haste to greet you.

Lucy, the five-month-old pitbull only understands Spanish. He talks to her in a soft baritone that does not match your initial assessment of him. scratching her behind the ear and immediately you’re just smitten. He is a man of few words and looks very comfortable standing there, wiping his hands on a rag, leaning into his hip as you describe the problem. 

Lucy licks your hands and sits on your foot while you listen to him explain what needs to be done and how long it will take. 

But it’s kinda hard to retain any of it because a man who spends his days underneath oil pans should not have hair this beautiful. It curls down one side of his forehead and around his ears. He takes his sunglasses off to peer into your engine.

If the perpetual stubble on his face wasn’t distracting enough, you’re ridiculously captivated with the brown depth of his eyes. 

whatever muted cologne he wears barely lingers as he stands there shoulder to shoulder showing you the pieces you’ll need, but for some reason, you can easily distinguish it from the tang of motor oil in the garage. The faint scent of cigarette smoke follows him around too and chuckles saying he’s trying to quit.

In addition to the bulls-eye tattoo in the web of his thumb, a few more intricate trails of ink curl around his forearms where the sleeves of his Henley are pushed up. and it's all you can do not to study their shapes. You can’t help but wonder if they reach and wrap around the breadth of his shoulders. More black ink sprawls behind the splayed buttons of his henley (no he never learned how buttons work, no it's not his fault) (and maybe!!! no one will ever show him how buttons work!)

The silver chain that rolls against the muscles in his neck, catches the sun more than once and your eyes land on the pendant sitting on his chest. It’s some sort of a prehistoric skull that you can't quite place. 

It’s unique, like his name. Din. 

He has to ask for your number twice before you hear him. 

Two days later, you stop by to pick up the car like he’d instructed and you find him surrounded by four ninth graders with their math textbooks open right in the middle of his garage. You learn that he tutors them every Tuesday.

Lucy remembers you

You also learn that he fosters other dogs too and he spends his Sundays helping at the food bank

One evening, you’re on your way to meet a friend for coffee and you see a sleek Harley parked outside the café. It looks eerily familiar to the bike your ex drives, and your stomach drops at the thought of crossing paths with that jerk again. As you get closer, some distant place of your mind is relieved to see that these rims were different so no, it couldn't be that bike. 

On your way past, you try not to stare at it, you really try, because fuck that’s a beautiful bike, and then out of nowhere, you sense a presence that wasn’t there before. Din steps off the curb, standing there, all dark hair and broad shoulders and dark jeans, helmet dangling from his fingers. 

And you realize that’s his bike.

Thankfully your knees don’t buckle like you expect them to. 

“Hey” 

You are not prepared for the soft rasp of his voice.

You watch him lick his lips, his gaze lingering on you and it takes you way too long to remember your manners and say ‘hello’. 

If he’d noticed the way you’d admired the bike, his expression didn’t give it away.

By some miracle, you hear yourself speak.

"Nice ride." And you mean it.

He smiles, warm and genuine, and sweet hell his cheek dimples, just for you 

"Thanks." 

was he blushing. 

oh god. he was blushing. 

His eyes are dark in this low evening light, almost as dark as the paint job. His henley and boots, the same matte black. Was that a hair elastic on his wrist, just beyond his watch. 

A bike like that drew attention and usually brought an ego with it, but you can plainly see, those attachments do not exist with him. 

he asks about the fuel pump on your car and after chatting back and forth, you realize with a pang, the reason you’re even here, wondering how long you’ve been standing here with him

you’ve taken up enough of his time, even if all you want to do is to keep standing here. 

With him. 

Reaching the door of the cafe, you pause to swing it open, giving yourself what you hope is a casual glance back in his direction. 

His back is turned and you catch yourself staring at the long solid shape of him, staring because, okay… it's been a while. And you weren’t even thinking about the bike. 

Foolishly, you wonder if it’s too late to take a rain check on your friend.

Helmet buckled, he turns around much too soon, and really, you should have been inside by now, but dammit, now there is a string of people walking out of the door you're so graciously still holding open. 

Heat creeps up your neck because he caught you staring, again, and now you have to wait for all of them to exit before you can even think of moving and you wish the sidewalk would open up and swallow you. 

you don't dare chance another look back at him before you disappear into the café.

you're gone by the time one side of his mouth quirks up into a smirk as he settles down on the seat and kicks it to life.

“Steve, I’m in trouble.”

 That’s all you had said on the phone. You stood in your bathroom, tears in your eyes as you waited for him to get to your apartment. He surely had hopped on his motorcycle and was running every red light to get to where you were. He didn’t even wait to see what the emergency was, no questions asked. Steve just knew he had to be there for you, because you never asked anyone for favors or for help. You didn’t think it could happen to you, but it did. You had checked three times now. The tests all lay on the sink counter, reading positive for pregnancy. The worst part was that the father wanted nothing to do with the child. You had given your ex-boyfriend, Josh, a call before you told Steve. Josh had said to get an abortion, and if you didn’t, he would forfeit parental rights. He wanted nothing to do with you or the tiny life that was growing inside you. This had you sobbing uncontrollably now at the realization that your child would be fatherless.

Before you catapulted further into an anxiety attack, you heard the unlocking of your door. Steve had a key for your apartment for emergencies, and to feed your cat Milo when you were on vacation or working late. “(Y/N)?” he called, rushing down the hallway towards the bathroom where he saw the door ajar and light on. “What hap- “he started to ask, worry clear on his face, but he paused when he noticed the tests sitting there. He immediately pulled you into his embrace as he stroked your hair softly, feeling the tears soak into his gray t-shirt. “Josh wants me to get an abortion” you whispered into his chest, feeling smaller than you had in weeks. The break-up certainly took its toll on you, but this was a whole new ballgame. “Is that what you want?” Steve asked you, pulling away to look you in the face. “No, but how am I going to afford to raise this kid by myself? He’s giving up his rights, and I can’t bring a child into this world on my salary. I work at a diner, for Christ’s sake!” you shouted at your super-soldier best friend. “I’m behind on bills, I can barely afford this apartment, and well, I have to probably rehome Milo.” Steve shook his head as you rambled on, trying to get you to stop panicking but it wasn’t working. “Woah there, hey. I’m not going to let you get all riled up like this, especially now since you’re, well, you know” he trailed off, but then pulled out his phone and began typing furiously and quickly. “Steve, what are you doing?” you asked him as you wiped the makeup off your messy face. “Don’t worry about anything, okay? Let’s go and get your mind off this all. Isn’t The Bachelorette on tonight? I know you don’t want to miss who Hannah goes on a date with this week” he said with a chuckle as he took your hand and led you towards the couch in your tiny living room.

As soon as you sat down, however, in barged another visitor. “Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t go and beat his ass, Steve!” Bucky shouted as he made his way over to the couch, seething. “Buck, I told you not to say anything in front of (Y/N), we can’t have her stressed out!” Steve said through clenched teeth. “You act like I give two fucks about that; this son of a bitch wants to play ditch out dad? We’ll see about that! It takes two to make a baby!” Bucky had always been protective over you, and to see him lash out like this broke your heart. You knew he only meant the best, but right now, his screaming and agitation led you to crying. “See what you did!” Steve growled as he pulled you close to him again. “Shit, (Y/N), I didn’t mean to make ya cry, doll” Bucky apologized. He sat on the other side of you, draping an arm over your shoulder, and began to rub your back softly. “It’s okay, guys, really” you finally said as you tried to put on a brave face. “I can do this. I’ll take more shifts at the diner, I’ll sell more of my furnitu-“ you explained but found yourself cut off by Bucky. “Woah, there. You have me and Stevie, and we aren’t letting you do this by yourself.” He looked to Steve, and he shook his head in confirmation. “We have an extra room in the tower right now, and I checked with Tony. He’s letting you have it for free if you’ll help around his lab. Kinda like a personal assistant. Once the baby comes, we can set up a nursery in your suite at the tower. We’re all going to pitch in and help. You’re not alone, (Y/N). Please, let us help” Steve pleaded with you as he held one of your hands in his.

You thought of the idea of not having to work night shifts anymore, not having to mop floors, and to be secure in finances for the little bundle of joy that you would be bringing into this crazy world. You then thought of the care and love that Bucky and Steve would provide for your child and found yourself shaking your head yes with even more tears in your eyes. “Man, this is the most emotional I have seen you in, well, forever” Bucky said with a hearty laugh. “Well, let’s move you in” Steve declared with a smile, and made a quick call on his phone, surely to Tony. “Can you send over a truck? Thanks, man” he said as he ended the conversation. Within the hour, a moving truck with two contracted professional movers were ready to help you begin your new life in the Avengers Tower.

Being the eldest of five kids was never easy. Sure he had a younger brother who was only a year younger than himself, but if Takashi was honest with himself, he wouldn’t trust Hitoshi with a sack of potatoes for a day, much less any of the rowdy younger siblings they shared. Takashi, as a result, was usually the most responsible. Often taking on whatever household chores that he could when he had the time, or the motivation, so that his mother could have a small break here and there. It happened most often when his father, Shigezane, was away helping with Lord Masaume with whatever it was that required Shigezane’s help. It was during those times that Takashi knew his mother would rely on him the most, so he tried to take on tasks that would make it easier on his mother.

“You’re such a good boy, Takashi. Are you sure you want to do this? It’s quiet a load this time.” His mother said one day when Shigezane was off on war with Lord Masaume and Lord Kojuro.

It had been three weeks since they departed, and Takashi was doing extra work to make sure his mother could relax whenever she could. Especially since this time, she seemed more worried than other times. He wanted to ease what he could off of his mother to make the passage of time a bit easier.

“I don’t mind, Mother. It’s really not that much, and besides, we need some food around here if we’re gonna feed those other animals in there. Go ahead, take your time shopping. I can hold down the fort here.” He grinned. His mother giggled for just a second, but then cleared her throat as she attempted to give him a stern look.

“That’s no way to refer to your siblings.” She said in as stern a voice as she could manage. Takashi shrugged as he looked back at the house, and then at his mother with one eyebrow raised.

“Well, what would you call them?” He questioned in almost annoyance, although there was a hint of adoration behind it.

“Energized. Now, I want you all to get along, and I want the house standing when I get back. Also, all five of you must  be accounted for, so make sure nobody gets killed while I’m gone.” She was speaking in a full firm, stern, parental tone. Takashi rolled his eyes, nodding as he grinned.

“Go, Mother, I got this.” He urged his mother to leave. She looked back with one last smile, looking at the castle for just a second, before turning back around, walking with a slight fast paced movement.

“Alright! Mother left me in charge while she’s gone. DO you guys know what that means?” Takashi questioned.

“We can’t have a party?” Hitoshi replied. Takashi looked at him, an annoyed grin on his face.

“What makes you think any of the retainers here would let us party even if we wanted to?” He questioned through his teeth.

“Because we kinda outrank them… I mean, we do… Don't we?” Mika, the youngest at just four years old, questioned, holding up a doll as she looked around with a slight confused tilt to her head.

“See? Mika gets it, and she’s only four years old.” Hitoshi said, sticking out his tongue at his brother, who simply looked at him with a deadpan expression.

“Very mature, Hitoshi, very mature.”

“Ha! I know right?” Hitoshi grinned at him, not even caring that is brother was visibly annoyed.

“I swear, you must……” Takashi pinched the bridge of his nose, and then sighed as she shook his head.”Nope. Not gonna do it. Not this time. I refused to get sucked into your vertex of immaturity.” He whispered under his breath.

“Talking to yourself isn’t a good sign, Big Brother. Don’t crazy people do that?” Twelve year old Kouki asked, glancing up at his brother, who just sighed, and shook his head.

“Nevermind. Listen, we need to clean this mess up. It’s really a mess in here.” Takashi said, looking around the clearly messy room.

“Right. Like that’s gonna happen.” Shiori, the recently turned nine year old girl, replied in a sarcastic tone, looking at her brother with an eyebrow raised.

“It’ll get done faster if we just work together.” Takashi tried to reason.

“Last time that happened, Papa had to break up a fight between you and Hitoshi.” Kouki replied simply. Takashi was silent for a moment in embarrassment as he remembered the incident. If he remembered right, it was over a piece of clothing…. But that didn’t matter at this moment! He needed to get this place cleaned up before his mother came home!

“Alright. If nobody wants to help, then at least go be annoying somewhere else so I can get this place cleaned. I promised Mother.”

“For all the ‘’energy” they have, you figured one of them could have helped.” He whispered to himself, scrubbing at some clothes in a wash bin.

“Big Brother?” Takashi looked at Mika, who was looking at him with a shy expression her light brown eyes. Takashi softened, and smiled.

“What’s up?” He questioned, going back to scrubbing the clothes.

“Can I help?” She questioned, getting a bit braver as she grinned, and stepped forward. Takashi smiled, nodding.

“Sure.” He moved slightly so that there was just enough room for her slim body to get in between him and the wash bin.”Why don’t you help me scrub these clothes clean?” He questioned, beckoning her over. Mika grinned, nodding as she ran to her brother, and sat on his lap. She took a small piece of clothing, one of her own yutaka’s, and dunked it in the water. Takashi sat back, and watched her work with a determined expression.

“Like this?” She questioned, holding up the piece of clothing after a few moments. Takashi nodded, moving her aside slightly so that he could hang it up.

“Perfect.” He said simply, ruffling her hair. Mika grinned, watching as her brother hung up the clothing, and then, with renewed energy, grabbed another piece of clothing, and began to vigorously scrub at it. Takashi just looked at her with another small smile.

“You’ve got to be kidding me?! I just cleaned this room?!” Takashi yelled out. He could feel a vein pop out on his forehead, like it usually did when he was irritated.

“Uh-oh. Big Brother’s mad.” Kouki whispered, leaning over to Shori, who nodded. Takashi felt even more annoyed. There was toys and clothes littering the room. He had literally just cleaned this room ten minutes ago as well!

How is it they always manage to make a huge mess out of thing within ten second of entering a room?! I just got done cleaning this room too! It must be a talent of theirs. A very hugely annoying talent. Or they just enjoy torturing me. Or both.

“Hey! Clean this mess up! Mother’s gonna be home soon!” He reprimanded his siblings, but was already going around, and picking up various items. Kouki and Shori were simply watching him with blank expression. That was until Kouki leaned over with a grin to his sister.

“Hehe… Ooops! I think Big Bro’s mad!” He loudly whispered, making Shiori laugh.

“I heard that!” He said, looking at the two with a slight glare, both of who laughed.”If you two aren’t gonna help, then get out!” He said simply, shooing them out. Shiori was still leaning into Kouki as she spoke.

“Better do it before he gets pissed.”

“Too late.” Kouki replied, both giggling as they ran out of the room.

“Ugh. Those two are the worst ever.” He whispered in annoyance.

“I feel sorry for your future wife and kids.” Hitoshi said teasingly, leaning against the door. Takashi looked at him with an eyebrow raised.

“What do you want?” He questioned.

“Let me help.” He said simply, taking the pile of clothes from his brother, and sat on the ground as he began to fold, and put them away. Takashi smiled, nodding as they worked together to clean the room up.

“I see. That's good.” She said, smiling gently at all her children.”Now, help me put these away before I start cooking.” She said, huffing as she handed a bag to each of her kids.

honestly idk what to even say expect... dang that was like one of the best days of my life. there's something so freeing, at least for me, to just scream to your hearts content about the boys without feeling at little self conscious 

song highlights/thoughts:

 -i seriously cried through all of not today. lmao i could barely sing along without sobbing ooops 

-baepsaaaaaae.... fcuk it's so liT seriously everything about that song and dance is perfect

-begin is so amazing. i was so struck by how jungkookie is completely stable like dang,, obviously we know jungkook is so freaking good but seriously seeing that live is something else. and that dance is so cool, the choreo is really unique

-omg liE!!!! this dumb bitch tried to get a fancam of it, but lmao i’ve never seen anything messier than that fancam i got. seriously that performance !!! jimin is seriously so amazing at dancing. i can't believe i got to see that live. everything.. the lift, the blindfold,, fuuuuuuck 

- first love was seriously so emotional, it really hit me right in the heart. the cello(?) players and his piano... too cool... i think yoongi got a little emotional and didn't finish the last few lines of the song ;----;

- i need u .. the song that got me into bts ... i’m so happy i got to see it live and yell the fanchant ;---; 

- reflection was such an experience.. we did the ‘we love you’ chant and when rapmon changed it to ‘i wish i could everyone’ we still did the ‘we love you’ chant lmaO a bit of a fail there hahah.. but that performance is really powerful, like first love... sigh it was so cool

- stiGmA... this is one of my fav songs and omG taehyung was so amazing!!! he hit the notes nd everything!!! i’ve never been so proud. he’s improve so much from when he first sang the song live, i’m so happy for him.
