SO SO SO SUPER COOL. i first saw your artwork back in 2022 [i think…!?]?? your ososan stuff! and i thought your artstyle was so super cute and unique that when you started posting it again in 2023 i recognized it off the bat haha. i look at everything outside of ososan too now and i find it all very fun! we have a lot of overlap in other interests but its also been so cool to see things i have only thought of getting into without ever taking the leap LIKE CATS!!! I REALLY LIKE SEEING POSTS ABOUT CATS!! its all very interesting to me!! i like seeing you indulge so much. its fun seeing blogs that are so obviously and beautifully collections of things that person is passionate about!! i would like to see even more of that. i VERY MUCH get being held back by a sense of being cringe/too much but i bet if you doubled down on everything without caring things would only become doubly cool! its also very fun to see someone who has a lot of continual passion for their fankids for homestuck?! admittedly my hs days were primarily like..4-3 years ago but back then it was really common for people to start msfpas or make ocs and then run out of steam really fast [its a strong time commitment and VERY OBVIOUSLY AS I WOULD KNOW interests change!!] but seeing how much youve stuck with page and the development of your art since making them is CRAZYYYYYYYYY and so inspirational!!! truly very awesome to see. oh thank you 🥲 tbh i was nervous about that one because it didnt get as much response so i was like am i ending the fic in an Unsatisfying way. even writing for yourself, if there's a drop off it tells you if you need to like, Work On Something to help with your writing growth and that. but also there wasn't anything as Insane in it as the last two 😂 so it's no surprise there was less "reaction." and like it has gotten comments im not complaining or anything, just feels nice to know it was really liked by someone <3

anyway, i should be able to edit the final chapter and post it tomorrow so long as i dont drop dead. i was going to do it today if i could but between being busy and not feeling well it just wasn't going to happen

HAHA yes I'm a little fanfic reader, fanfics don't need to exist to do justice or anything since they're just good fun and fan fantasy. Ofc there are fics out there that establish the canon characters in One Piece's world REALLY well but I mostly look for the guilty pleasure ones GHFHF

That being said I don't actually read them all that much, just when one catches my attention. My whole thing is I don't like chaptered fics and only read long one shots cause I just prefer the one and done lmao.

Ok so Wony is obviously an alpha, but like a really discreet alpha. She's always well put together and she isn't known to lose control of herself in any way. like she wouldn't just say this because she doesn't want to be rude, but everyone can tell she lowkey hates sloppier, more aggressive alpha behavior, she's always bickering with Rei for stinking the room and leaving a mess. She & Yujin bonded in high school so neither has a lot of experience with other people, but she's identified what makes Yujin tick and perfected the art. Her ruts aren't particularly strong, so when Yujin gets desperate she loves prolonging homegirl's suffering for as long as possible. Yujin is so malleable and loves her so much, she would absolutely let Wony drive her insane with heat, purely for entertainment. At one point though (and Wony would only ever let Yujin see her like this) she would also allow herself to feel needy, and give Yujin what she wanted. at that moment, sometimes, she would also get a little carried away, and just scratch the shit out of Yujin's back, and Yujin would make fun of her for it afterwards but never in front of anyone else who didn't know that side of Wony

Yujin is the opposite: she's an omega, but she masks her scent well and she's very outgoing, so you wouldn't normally guess. in fact, and she would never admit this, she's a little self-conscious about being an omega, which sometimes came out in her being a little confrontational with people. All in good fun though, she never has fights or drama with anyone, which tends to make people charmed, and a little confused about her. She only has eyes for Wony though, she's her best friend and the love of her life and she worships her, she doesn't know if Twilight-type imprinting is a real thing but if it is she feels it for Wony. She gets completely nervous and giddy and silly next to her, and since they bonded her heats have been unbearable. All this makes her really self-conscious at times, and more than once she tried to pretend everything was fine when really she was ungodly needy. Wony knows that Yujin has a shy side though, and knows how to bring it out of her, which at the time feels like torture, but in the long run she knows it's just what she needs. Also she doesn't mind a little torture if Wony is entertained

Also Wony smells of very strong black tea but kind of distant like in a table across the room, and Yujin smells of breakfast food like pancakes but the kind that wouldn't feel too heavy to eat in the morning

I really, really love your fanfic Split. You tackle the concept of identity quite well, and it really feels authentic to the spirit of Billy Batson and Captain Marvel. You capture each character's voice so well that it is seamless when read; I could hear and visualize each character speaking or doing an action.

I wonder how you realistically portray the internal and external conflicts regarding their gender, autonomy, and bond.

Did you draw it from your own life, research, or people you know? It is quite a personal question you do not have to answer; I was just curious. I would also like to ask what would be the best way to portray that relationship accurately—as you do—so the process feels more like representation and not appropriation. I'll try my best to answer your questions and give some tips. But some things are just hard to put into words you know?

I would say that I don't often base things purely on my own experiences, but my life, the stories I've heard or read, the people I've met, all inform how I write and what I write.

So I am Agender and I was assigned female at birth. I'm also aromantic and asexual, so I have spent a lot of time in queer spaces both online and irl. Which means ive had a lot of opportunities to talk to and learn from people with different experiences with gender and sexuality than my own. My journey of self discovery was honestly pretty easy with very little gender dysphoria and a lot of acceptance from people around me.

When I wrote Captain Marvel having very little connection to gender with no real preference for pronouns, just sort of accepting people's assumptions of his gender based on his looks, that's me. My connection to gender is extremely loose, basically nonexistent, but i dont really care if people know that or not. It's not the most common experience but it is my experience. And I thought it would make sense to apply that to my version of Captain Marvel because he has had many different forms, but his expression depended on his hosts and their ideas of gender.

When I'm writing about Billy’s struggles with gender, I often take my own experiences of being AFAB mixed with things I've learned from the trans masc community. I'm not trans masc myself, but there are certain parts that resonate with me that I include. Honestly I'm often nervous when posting chapters that focus heavily on that because, like you, I want to be both accurate and respectful. But so far the responses I've gotten are overwhelmingly positive.

And my thoughts on Billy and Captain Marvel’s relationship has evolved since I first started writing them. They know each other completely and they wouldn’t be who they are now without the other’s influence. The character of Captain Marvel is incomplete with Billy Batson and vice versa. Portraying that in a fic has been one of the major challenges of writing Split but is also the main reason the fic exists in the first place.

Drawing on older golden age comics, Billy and Captain Marvel are basically the ultimate tag team and each other’s biggest supporters. But they had distinct differences and on rare occasions got into arguments about how to live as one person.

When I write them, I try to highlight that Captain Marvel is more mature with a lot more lived experience that he draws on. But that doesn’t mean Billy is immature. Far from it. But he is a kid who doesn't really trust most adults and that leads to him making certain decisions that are more reckless.

In Split they are trying very hard to keep up appearances, but despite their combined experience neither really knows what would be considered normal. There's a certain amount of being out of touch or misinformed that makes their characters more endearing to me.

If you want to write them yourself (and I would always encourage people to go for it!) I suggest deciding early on what parts of Billy cross over to Cap. Figures of speech (ex: holy moley!), body language (do they both put their hands on their hips when confident or rub the back of their neck when embarrassed?), morality (what lines can and can't be crossed), and certain likes and dislikes would be a good start. From there decide what's unique to each of them. For example I often have Cap be more skilled at/knowledgable of magic even if Billy also studies magic, but is also pretty shy around other people. Billy on the other hand is more likely to curse and question authority but is also better at talking to people and connecting with them.

As a final note of advice, if you want to write about identities or experiences that you don't have: read about and talk to people who do. Whether it's fiction, blog posts, biographies, academic papers--all can help you get a more well rounded idea of what it's like and how you respectfully portray it. If you're still unsure, look for a sensitivity reader who can look over your work and help you make your story the respectful and realistic portrayal you want it to be. I'd even be willing to do that for you for things I felt qualified for. I know it's hard to take that leap sometimes but I promise it's worth it!

fr its been a very long time since ive posted any fic online so i was kind of nervous about the reception i'd get, so this is honestly super encouraging for me!! just knowing that at least one person is out there enjoying my writing is a massive motivation to keep going.

i've got two more chapters pre-written right now and am in thr middle of another one, so i'm not planning on stopping anytime soon. there are definitely more wacky adventures to come >:)
