its always impossible for me to answer questions like "what motivates you to create" or "what do you do about artblock" bc im like
you dont understand
i don't create things for any reason whatsoever or have any conscious premeditated motivation for making work
it's just my brain is buzzing at 400 miles per hour vibrating with supersonic speed thoughts and if i dont exorcise them onto paper in some form or another i will detonate like a nuclear warhead
there's no question of 'what motivates you' what motivates me is my brain is full of goblins rioting in the streets and i have to placate them with offerings of art/writing/etc or else they'll start burning shit down
#i truly wish i could share any useful advice or guidance for anyone who WANTS to create but CAN'T#but i'm not making art because I Want To Make Something Good i'm making art because#i have so much static thrumming deafening in my ears and if i channel it onto paper i get a moments' peace#the act of doing it is like 90% of the motivation#i am making it Because Making Things Is All I Know How To Do#it also means that i'm as susceptible to art block or dead periods as anyone else but not because of any like#difficult feelings about the quality of my work but because#i am too exhausted to have a coherent thought and therefore cannot put any of those thoughts anywhere#when i don't create it's not because I have tried to create something and hated what i made and stopped because of it#it's because i'm too fucking tired to THINK and therefore can't even arrange words into a sentence#and the only thing that can be done about that at ALL is to rest and take care of my basic needs
