#it's barely defensible in the small sports but absolutely ludicrous in the case of football

Actually, I've decided the most unrealistic thing in All For The Game/The Sunshine Court isn't the mafia, it's the apparent absence of the draconian NCAA gifting rules. None of that would have happened if Wymack got suspended for buying his players a sandwich.
For those unaware: the NCAA imposes incredibly strict regulations on student-athletes to maintain the illusion that they are unpaid amateurs and prevent colleges from "hiring" the best players via outsized scholarships. Kevin's supposed millions in sponsorships would have been completely disallowed until like 2 years ago (profiting off your image was banned). But also, coaches and players are completely disallowed from anything which even looks like payment or accepting a gift. Buying food for your players? BANNED! Buying Neil clothes because he has literally 1 shirt? BANNED! Plane tickets across the country? PROBABLY NOT! Everything Wymack does is spitting in the NCAA's face and daring them to suspend him.
#aftg#tsc#and in case you're wondering yes this system sucks#it's barely defensible in the small sports but absolutely ludicrous in the case of football#and exy occupies a similar place to football in this world#it creates situations where players earning millions on behalf of their university are next to penniless#they look like rock stars but can't buy food when campus meal plans are closed
