SHE WANTS YOU!
🎧 you’re proud to be my man, and i won’t let you go!
synopsis: they just can't see what a particular fangirl of theirs is trying to do...with the msby 4!
content: litte bits of insecure reader and little bit of clueless msby. but fears are put to rest. fluffy. casual intimacy. they are Smitten & loyal bfs
total wc: 4k
BOKUTO: Kotaro has always been good at handling difficult people. It just wasn’t in his nature to think the worst of them, and he handles even intentional malice by interpreting it as genuine questions or comments that needed a response to. And so he’d reflect and answer honestly how he felt, and that was often times enough to shut those kinds of people down.
Even the seemingly most malicious kinds of people Bokuto eagerly approached in a friendly manner and treated as a close friend. That, of course, included his fans.
He's always been one to enjoy basking in the limelight, being praised for his strengths and acknowledged for his easy going attitude. It was a great bolster to his self-esteem; he loved the people, and boy did they love him.
It’s because of Kotaro’s easy going attitude that made forming a relationship with him very easy.
Boundaries can become more easily crossed, but Kotaro doesn’t have very many, which only encourages fans to attempt to see just how far they can tread over the line before they’re pushed back on the other side of it.
Of course, there was nothing wrong with fan interactions, especially on your end; your heart swelled when you saw the ways his fans supported him and how much joy your boyfriend took in connecting with them. Their support meant just as much as his love for the sport he plays.
But there’s one fan you just can’t help but get a bad feeling from.
It’s more instinctive than anything, but the fact that you’re a little too familiar with her doesn’t sit right with you. She's somehow managed to catch Bokuto at all his events, and talk with him outside of matches before he's due to depart from the arena. She's always eager to catch him, even at the very last second, but since it’s Bokuto, he has no qualms, and happily stays to chat for a couple of minutes before the coach insists the team needs to get a move on.
And then she’d start to slowly up the physical touch, from brushing her hand against his skin while reaching for something for him to sign, to fully grasping his arm as she laughs at something he said.
You knew he wouldn’t believe you at first when you brought up your concerns.
“Really? I mean, I don't blame her for coming back for more; I'm awesome! But she’s only a fan!”
This one particular person you had a bad feeling about was not exempted from your boyfriend's goodwill, despite over time becoming more obvious with her intentions. Eventually, she began treating him like an old friend with some underlying feelings.
“I don't think she has bad intentions.” he’d answer honestly in response to your concern. Of course, Bokuto doesn’t want to believe that this nice fan of his has an underlying agenda with her eager conversations, but he can at least see that the situation has been stressing you out with each reluctant drop of the subject, lip jutted out as if not fully soothed by his reassurance.
She’s there in the crowd again, and you know that after the game, no matter the outcome, she’ll go looking for your boyfriend as he sticks around for a couple of interviews to conclude the day, and you dread it. The game goes smoothly, with Kotaro in perfect form, something you know he wasn’t able to achieve very often back in his high school days, and you can’t help but marvel sometimes at the amount of progress he’s made.
When the Jackals eventually file out of the gym after their triumphant win, you make a beeline for each other. He quickly runs to meet you halfway in one of the halls, caught up in his adrenaline high from the game as he wraps his arms around your waist and spins you off the ground. He’s sweaty, and how he still has energy is beyond you, but you don’t care and immediately reciprocate the affection, wrapping your arms around his neck.
“Did you see me? Did you see how amazing I was out there?” he badgers excitedly as he puts you down, and you nod with a grin.
“You did so good, Ko! That spike in the final set was—“
“Kotaro! You were incredible!”
Your grip on his forearms immediately tighten, and the two of you both look over your shoulder to see her jogging up to the two of you with a breathless laugh.
“As always, of course. I knew you’d be able to power through their defense!”
“Well, not always.” Bokuto let’s out a little laugh and peeks from the corner of his eye at your tense smile. She seems to take notice as well, and hers only widens.
“Give yourself more credit,” she scoffs playfully. “I noticed even in this game that you—“
“I appreciate the kind words, but I can’t stay to chat.” he smiles at her, wide and genuine, and you look down in surprise when you feel his arm wrap around you, his hand squeezing your shoulder as he brings you to his side.
“My partner here is treating me to a celebratory meal!”
The two of you both blink in surprise at his words. Typically no matter how crowded his schedule, he always spares a couple of minutes to chat.
“Oh, well… I suggest this one sushi place nearby. I can pull up the location!”
“That's alright! Y/N already promised to take me to one of my favorite places. It was nice seeing you again!”
And with that, he takes your hand and drags you off with a bounce in his step and a smile still plastered on his face.
There isn’t a single indication that any of his words were fake or had a malicious undertone meant to humiliate her. Only that he was vocal in that he prioritized you over her.
You gave him a teasing smile. “So, when did I say I'd be treating you?”
“You mean you won’t?!” he whips his head toward you with a heartbroken expression, as if having fully expected that you’d reward him for his incredible performance.
“No, no, of course I will. Anything you want.” you grinned, bumping his shoulder as his grip on your hand tightened and his smile widened, and he continued to boast about how great his plays were.
He later posts a message of thanks to his fans for all the support he received for the match on his socials with a photo of the two of you enjoying your meals. You can now be confident that no other fan will be testing their luck with his boundaries any time soon.
MIYA: Atsumu is solely focused on himself. On his plays. On sharpening his skill. On having his fun.
And, of course, on you.
Atsumu, as much as it has been stereotyped for him, is not one to look for validation in his fans. Whether they’re a fangirl or an old man in the stands who's watched the game all his life, he does not care for their criticisms nor their compliments. The only people he at all considers feedback from is his coach, his brother, and you. That doesn’t mean he’s immune to what they say about each one of his plays, however. He gets down when the commentators call out a bad play, and pumped when the stadium roars with cheers for him.
But because of this sort of suave personality of his, people fit him into the mould of a playboy. And because he has such high expectations of the people around him, people have assumed that he had high expectations of his romantic partners as well.
Someone rich, someone famous, someone absolutely drop dead gorgeous. That was who the majority of Atsumu's fans assume is his criteria for a partner. And so, when he’s spotted out with a celebrity he’s been working closely with for a modeling partnership, one that happens to exceed all of those expectations, it’s no surprise that dating rumors regarding the two of them being in secret kahoots start to circulate among not only their individual fanbases, but the sports community as well.
Multiple comments claiming the encounters to be a “soft launch” made your eye twitch as you encountered them under related posts. You couldn’t help but sometimes find yourself laughing at those who insist that it’s obvious they’re in love with one another.
Perhaps the celebrity he’s been hanging with was in love with him, as she hasn’t been the least bit shameless in expressing her admiration and adoration for your boyfriend, but Atsumu had not the slightest bit of romantic interest for her. You knew through his exasperated rants about her being difficult and obnoxious. But, of course, nobody else knew.
Still, he works with her for quite a bit of time. And though you know Atsumu isn’t the type to be disloyal, certainly not toward you, you can’t help but let the rumors get to your head sometimes, and in turn an insecurity manifests in the form of an ache in your chest or a lump in your throat. It doesn't help the fact that this celebrity is constantly posting her time with him online, and “playfully” validating comments that ship the two of them together.
He tells you to get off of social media when you get down about the situation. It just isn’t worth the mental torture; and besides, their relationship is strictly professional. It's the only reason why she’s so friendly. For a man who loves to bask in whatever praise he’s given, he sure seems oblivious to the very obvious clues she’s been dropping him. He has to believe it’s strictly the guise of accomplishing successful business.
Still, it’s not like you make a conscious decision to go against his words and subject yourself to further irritation and insecurity. You couldn’t help yourself; you knew very well that, compared to her, you were a nobody. You couldn’t compete with everything she had.
You slowly started to agree with the comments who argued that they should get together; they do look pretty good together, they are extremely compatible. And above all else, she could probably support him way better than you ever could. You swear to yourself you don’t feel jealous, bitter, petty--not in the slightest.
But the sour expression Atsumu comments on one evening while the two of you lounge on your couch as you yet again scroll through comments claiming your boyfriend would suit someone not like you has you reflecting otherwise.
“What’s with the look? Reading the news?”
“Mm.” Is your vague reply, eyes not peeling away from the screen in front of you. Atsumu’s curiosity grows, and he raises an eyebrow.
“What’s it say?”
A moment of silence between the two of you as you continue scrolling. When you finally process the question and silence, you inhale sharply and finally look up at him, closing your phone and setting it on the coffee table beside you. “No, it’s nothing. Just something online.”
“Ugh. Don’t tell me you’ve been scrolling through those comments again.”
You shoot him a glare at his insensitivity, but also at how quickly he was to figure it out. The sour look on your face has become synonymous with that topic that Atsumu could easily recognize as the source of your frustration.
“Fine. I won’t tell you.”
He groans as he collapses on top of you, closing his eyes and nuzzling into the crook of your neck. You grunt in pain at the sudden weight, and still annoyed from his previous comment, you try to pry his face away, which only makes Atsumu stubbornly latch even harder onto you. “Atsumu!”
“I told you, those people have no idea what they’re talking about. She’s insufferable.”
“I know.”
It’s a statement, but the sad tone in which you say it makes Atsumu’s heart sink. He opens his eyes and tilts his head to look up at you, chin digging into the side of your arm. “You’re way prettier.”
You roll your eyes. “Thanks.”
“And your place is nicer. And your food is tastier. And your humor is better than hers.”
You couldn’t help but laugh as you feel your heart lighten a little at his attempts at picking you up, and Atsumu feels his own growing lighter, too. “Don’t tell Osamu about the food thing.”
“Oh, no, his is still better than yours.”
“Of course it is.” You reply back as if it were hardly a matter that needed to be debated.
Atsumu was good at this; making you smile, making you laugh, making you feel loved and wanted. It didn’t take long for him to stomp on the insecurities that managed to manifest in your heart in order to lessen their load on you. He wouldn’t stand for his partner to feel inadequate compared to someone else, especially since Atsumu chose you. You and your wit, your kindness, your passion, your talent, your everything.
He stays over that night as he often does, and he knows he really shouldn’t do this, but the people he cares about came before anything else. And what’s the worst it could do, really?, responding to a couple of comments?
Needless to say that Atsumu’s replies talking you up about how great you are under his shippers’ comments make headlines on news articles the next day--and show the world just who his heart truly belongs to regardless of who you were.
HINATA: Much about him is different, upgraded. His technical skill has immensely bolstered since his high school days. He's able to pull off more in games; impressive feats achieved by his lightning quick reflexes and speed, once aiding him in his high school signature quick now aiding him in setting and receiving, sharpened by his intense training in the South. Even his physique is different; still shorter than most players you’d encounter in the realm of volleyball, but he’s grown a few inches and packed muscle all around. If that wasn’t enough proof of his hard work, his tan surely gave away just how much he dedicated himself to the sport with all the time he spent out in the sun training.
All of these things, along with his impressive performance on the court, have made Shoyo Hinata quite popular, and not simply for what people used to cheer him on for; being the underdog, or one half of a fearsome duo. His journey as a player aided him in his career, and all on his own has he established himself as an indomitable force.
People admire him for that. You admire him for that. You couldn’t blame the people who were so amazed and star stricken by him; how could you when you were as well?
But sometimes it went overboard, and sometimes it seemed like you were the only person who took notice. Sometimes this one sided observation was accidental; he’s too absorbed in his game; in the blood rushing to his ears, in the thrill of a good game-- that he just doesn’t notice. Sometimes you purposely keep the observation one-sided; these kinds of fans are inevitable, and the rational part of you knows they won’t compromise your relationship by any means.
There's one enthusiastic interviewer that’s a fan of Shoyo’s, and that he’s very friendly with; as he is with all of them. But this one in particular has managed to latch onto him because of it. You see her and her crew at every one of his games, big or small, and always openly expresses her very immense love for the sport; and for him.
Of course, Shoyo only understands “volleyball”, and you know that he’s always been giddy over being shown on the front covers or interviewed online, and so he’s always eager to accept a conversation with her, especially since she’s so friendly and knowledgeable.
iIt’s late in yours and Shoyo’s apartment when they run the interviews and live games from a big game earlier that season. As they start to discuss the Black Jackals, you call for him over your shoulder in the kitchen, where he’s preparing dinner.
“Sho, hurry, it’s starting!”
You can hear the increased urgency in his movements, but they die out as you watch one of his interviews from a very familiar news channel come onto screen. Your boyfriend, from hours earlier, stares happily at the interviewer behind the lens.
“Your skill and strength was absolutely incredible in this game- as it always is. You were also very impressive in high school, you must’ve been really popular—especially with the girls.”
You felt your smile drop slightly, not even hearing the curses coming out of Shoyo’s mouth as he fumbled around in the kitchen.
The Shoyo on screen chuckled and rubbed his neck. “Oh, no, not really. Many didn’t even believe I was a starter!”
“Oh, that’s me!” Present Shoyo struggling with your food calls out excitedly from behind the kitchen wall.
“I know!” you laugh over your shoulder, and you recognize the interviewer’s also intermingling with yours, which only makes your irritation grow.
“You’re so impressive though, especially now! I'm sure there isn’t a single person out there who wouldn’t want to be with you.”
You could feel a vein in your head pop and your eye twitch, but you were caught off guard by on- screen-Shoyo’s next words.
“Well, I wouldn’t really know; I have an amazing partner who I'm always looking at, so if there were, I wouldn't have noticed!” he laughed, and it’s so sincere that your heart flutters at the honesty behind it.
“Ohh, that’s so sweet.” you hear the interviewer speak again, and you laugh at the significantly less cheer in her voice. “They must all envy—?“
“Y/N!” he interrupts to introduce you with a cheerful nod. “Yeah, I'm not sure. I know I used to envy their admirers.” he reflects with a short laugh. “But they’re truly my biggest supporter, and always put up with my schedules and drills. There’s one drill in particular actually—“
He goes back to droning on about the subject at hand, about his volleyball training and how it impacted his performance in the game, but by the time Shoyo from behind the kitchen wall finally arrives into the living room, the main spokesperson has moved on to discussing other players and matches.
“Aw, did I miss it?” Shoyo cries disappointedly as he speeds into the room, sliding your plate down on the coffee table in front of you and taking a seat beside you on the couch with his own.
You grin at him, mind still on his words from before and you nudged him. “Took you long enough.”
“You could’ve helped.” he grumbles and you kiss his cheek sympathetically with a small sorry, and from the way he brightens and his cheeks tint pink, you can tell you’re immediately forgiven.
And as he gushes in awe of the other players’ highlights and interviews, a small part of you can’t help but think back on his words and feel a little smug with yourself when you also remember the interviewer’s awkward disposition after he had brought you up. You can’t help but be comforted to know that the innocent mention of you was not only a reminder to her, but to those like her, that his heart was fully committed to you and only you.
SAKUSA: If there was one aspect of Sakusa’s career he particularly disliked, it was the fans.
It was evident that he couldn’t care less about the fame he had or the things people were willing to do for him or had to say about him (unless they were directly interfering with his life), and you couldn’t help but feel some sort of relief to know Kiyoomi would not spare a single glance at some of his more fiercely devoted fans.
Yet of course, your problem had to lie outside of that realm.
Your problem was not an avid fan, who had the circumstances of a parasocial relationship to comfort you, but a colleague of Kiyoomi’s whom the Jackals worked pretty closely with; and happened to be quite a fan of your boyfriends.
You felt bad getting worked up over something so petty, but her persistence in trying to extend her relationship with Sakusa into something friendlier couldn’t help but sound off alarm bells in your head. You already knew that your boyfriend had a million other nuisances to deal with, and you had no intention of adding onto that list with your selfishness and unjustified uneasiness, especially when you knew your boyfriend had strict boundaries he wouldn’t compromise for anyone.
Well, almost anyone.
She was shamelessly unprofessional at times, attempting to emulate your affectionate behavior towards him in hopes that she’ll receive the same sort of submissive response that only you could get out of him.
Your boyfriend, for the sake of keeping good business, tolerated the over-friendliness, and saw it as nothing more than an attempt at trying to seem more casual and easy going in a business setting.
You’ve attempted to subtly bring up your discomfort at times when she got too out of hand for your liking, typically when the two of you were in the car or lounging around at home. You’d ask his thoughts about her behavior or her personality, to which he respond with something that amounted to the conclusion that: “she’s just doing her job.”
She’s tagged along on one of the away games that you so happen to also be coming along on. She's been quite enthusiastic on sharing her research on the area they’re staying in to him, and she doesn’t spare a single detail as he prepares to head out for the day.
“--and apparently the food in this area is extremely good. Everyone says that you can’t visit without trying it. There’s this restaurant in particular not too far from the training center! I’m sure I can get the two of us reservations before we--”
“Why would we do that?” he asks suddenly, obviously already irritated by her incessant conversation, turning toward her with a frown.
Her expression is one of shock and slight embarrassment for a moment before she recollects herself.
“Just…you know, to sample the cuisine!”
“Is it business related?”
Again, blunt and to the point, the woman needs a moment before she responds.
“Well--”
“My partner and I have plans while we’re in the area. You can talk to my manager about scheduling a meeting regarding any matters you have to discuss. I've already discussed with them my availability.”
You start to approach him as he finishes setting the remainder of his gear into his training bag, and the woman yet again tries to recollect herself after suddenly being met with the fact that Kiyoomi was already taken. He looks up at you waiting for him by the gymnasium doors, and doesn’t even spare the woman a single glance or wave before making his way over.
He bumps your shoulder as he strides in step with you, mumbling “let’s get out of here.” and then “are your hands clean?”
And when you mumble a yeah in response, he reaches down to take one in his, intertwining your fingers and leaving just enough room for the woman watching your backs to be able to see the rare show of affection.
You’re caught off guard by the sudden pda, and glance over your shoulder, then back at him in confusion. He feels your quizzical gaze on him and sighs exasperatedly. “She wasn’t just doing her job…”
You couldn’t help but hum a little pleased with yourself, puffing out your chest a little when you realized that she didn’t get her way, and squeeze his hand a little tighter. He shoots you a look at you a little with a roll of his eyes and squeezes back. “We’re going back to the room.”
“Actually, I heard there was a really nice restaurant around here. I was thinking of trying to get us reservations.”
He stared down at your eager smile and bright eyes and found his resolve waning the longer he did so. He turned his gaze back toward the front. “Okay. Room first, though.”

am I caught up on FHJY? no. will I give everyone my Ragh, Lydia, & Kristen family dynamic headcanons regardless? absolutely yes
Ragh really encouraging Kristen's interest in working out and fitness,,,, Lydia making them meals and bringing them lemonade after they come home from going on a run,, her making sure they drink lots of water and stay safe
Ragh helping Kristen with her campaign ideas,,, they're both dumb idiots (affectionately) and they come up with the dumbest ideas but they're so silly
Kristen and Lydia having a proper heart to heart about Kristen's situation with her parents, her god, and her ex-girlfriend and just breaking into tears over it. Jawbone is fucking awesome but how chill and completely open he is about everything can be threatening when Kristen is Not used to that. she's been through so much and she's so open physically with people as a way of coping with a lack of freedom in that regard when she was younger. She hasn't properly addressed how closed off she was emotionally though and she's focused so much on religion and finding herself in that regard that I think she forgets that there's more things going on (especially with ADHD) that she's struggling with, like her habit of making impulsive decisions without thinking of the consequences because she's been unable or not allowed to make any decisions for so long
AAAAAAAAAAA
all this pressure is put on her to be the only support for her god when surviving high-school is hard enough for anyone, especially someone with mental illness, she hasn't had a period where she can process everything that's happened to her--theres always a threat and the world constantly needs saving and I feel like Lydia could just sit her down and go "woah. slow down kiddo" and speak to her in a way she could understand, esp since Lydia is the mother of one neurodivergent kid who struggled with school (Ragh)
anyway that's all I just had to dump that out of my brain headcanons over the end
#d20 fantasy high#d20#dimension 20#kristen applebees#d20 fhjy#ragh barkrock#lydia barkrock#and kristen barkrock even has a ring to it tbh#or applebees-barkrock#obviously all the bad kids are like siblings because of trauma bonding and shit but like.#i've been thinking about these ones especially a lot

Banri's Birthday Rabbit TV 2023 - Episode 3 - "Biggest Supporters"
PART 1 | PART 2 | PART 3
Please note: I am NOT a professional and my level of JP is very, very basic. I do this for practice and to share with other fans for fun. Please take my translations with a grain of salt as there may be mistakes. If you see any, please let me know and I can correct them. If anyone else has this card and wants to translate this at any time then please feel free to do so!
Tsumugi & Anesagi & Okarin & Shirou: Oooooh….!
Banri: This is kind of embarrassing…
Tsumugi: It really suits you! I want to show everyone…!
Okarin: If Momo-kun and Yuki-kun saw this, they’d be super excited!
Shirou: You look like a real model. It looks good!
Anesagi: Well, don’t you clean up nicely….! Although, not as good as my prince!
Banri: Haha, thank you very much. I’m happy to receive such high praise.
Morino: Awesome! It looks great on you, Ogami! With this, tomorrow’s photoshoot can go on just as planned!!
Banri: Jeez, you’re sure in a good mood.
Stylist: I had no idea what was going to happen, but you all really helped us out by coming…! How can I thank you….?
Banri: It’s fine. Due to our line of work, we’re used to unexpected situations like this, so we really understand how you feel. We’re happy to help.
Tsumugi: Ah, excuse me, let me give you my business card. If anything pops up, please feel free to give our office a call.
Stylist: Will do!
Anesagi: Nice speed, Takanashi-san!
Tsumugi: Thanks! I felt encouraged by your advice when choosing the cheese curry bread!
Stylist: Oh, excuse me. I’ll adjust part of the hem just a little bit.
Morino: He really does look just as lean as he was back then…
Shirou: Then as expected, Ogami-san was popular in high school too?
Morino: He was! This guy had all the girls falling for him!
Banri: Hey, don’t say whatever you want just because I can’t move right now—
Morino: Am I wrong, though? Just how many times did I ask you for advice?
Morino: Girls would talk to me, but when I thought about it, it was only about what Ogami’s type was, or if he had any girls he liked!
Okarin: Ogami-san is kind, considerate, and perfect, so I’m sure he gained a lot of fans without even realizing it.
Morino: Exactly!
Morino: It wasn’t like they publicly squealed, but more like the girls were earnestly supportive. Rather than something like fan popularity, Ogami was just genuinely liked by them.
Anesagi: What a sinful man…
Okarin & Shirou: A sinful man, indeed…
Banri: Please don’t harmonize over there!
Morino: The girl I liked also liked Ogami….
Tsumugi: R-really….?
Morino: I was so frustrated I could die, so to be honest I started spreading rumors such as Ogami having really sweaty hands, and that he sneezes loudly.
Banri: Stop with your strangely elaborate reality! (1)
Stylist: ….. Alright, I’m done with the adjustments! The fitting is now complete! I really can’t thank you enough!
*clap clap clap clap*
Morino: Alriiight! Seriously, thanks a lot, Ogami! As a thank you, let me take your photo! One that could make your partner faint! (2)
Banri: Well, I don’t know when that time will come, but I might like to be photographed since you’ve become a pro. So I’ll leave it to you.
Morino: Great! A man who looks good by the window!
*click*
Tsumugi: Wow…! It’s like a sweets buffet! It’s so lovely…!
Anesagi: Oh my god, this is the best! I would love to have a wedding like this.
Morino: They also made test treats for tomorrow, so I’m glad you guys can try some.
….. But, is this really okay as a thank you?
Shirou: Of course. Those kids will be happy to even be sent pictures like this.
Okarin: Oh, Utsugi-san! If you’d like, shall I take a picture?
Shirou: Are you sure? Then, please, if you would.
Yay.
Okarin: Yay!
Anesagi: As you can see, we’re having a lot of fun, so it’s totally fine.
Morino: Ahaha! Glad to hear it…!
Okarin: Ogami-san, I brought you some champagne if you’d like!
Banri: Thank you. Even though the wedding isn’t until tomorrow, it already kind of feels like a party.
Anesagi: …..Isn’t it about time for the plan?
Shirou: Yes, I think so.
Banri: What plan?
Tsumugi: Banri-san! Actually, when we were discussing whether you were going to model or not, we had also decided on your surprise!
Tsumugi: The video call connected, I’ll put it on speaker!
Banri: A surprise?!
Riku: Hellooo! Can you guys hear me—?
Iori: Wait, Nanase-san. Don’t cover it with your finger. It’s on the camera part.
Mitsuki: Woah, you’re actually wearing a tuxedo! It looks amazing!
Tamaki: Seriously! Ban-chan, you’re sooo cool!
Ryuu: Wow….! You look like a model!
Gaku: Woah, what a flashy place.
Minami: Is it a church garden? There are so many sweets…..
Touma: Wait, isn’t Ogami-san seriously way too handsome….? Is it alright to have such a cool manager?
Momo: B-B-B-BA-BA-BA—BAN-SAN…..!
Yuki: Oh, Momo fell over. Ban, are you getting married without telling me?
Banri: Y-you guys! What’s with the gathering?!
Nagi: We wanted to see our beloved manager.
…. Oh! There are 2 pretty fairies in the garden.
Tsumugi: Fufu. We were able to rent this lovely garden!
Anesagi: Oh my god….. If it wasn’t for this being through a screen, I would’ve fainted….
Yamato: Heeh, it’s a nice place. It has a really good feel to it.
Tenn: You look amazing, Anesagi-san.
Gaku: Your face is red. Are you doing alright? You should take a break in the shade over there…
Anesagi: Thank you. I’m alright. I’m in tip-top shape. Ahh, the champagne is so good.
Momo: Okarin! Eat enough delicious food for me too, and be sure to bake it into your memory…!
Okarin: Haha! Thank you very much. I’ll bring home lots of souvenirs!
Haruka: Utsugi-san, scooch a little closer. I can’t see you.
Minami: Isumi-san, you can come this way. The screen is easier to see.
Torao: Isn’t it about time you started missing us?
Shirou: Indeed. Since I was lonely, I took lots of photos to send to you all.
Torao: W-well aren’t you honest about it….
Sougo: It looks like a wonderful place to celebrate.
Tamaki: Right? Oh, wait a sec, let’s record the screen!
Banri: A celebration… No way….
Sougo: Yes way. We have a present for you, Banri-san.
Riku: It’s fan service from all of us!
Banri: EH?! Fanservice…. Is it really alright to receive something so luxurious?
Yamato: It’s gonna go by fast, so don’t look away!
Mitsuki: To start us off, an air hug from Iori and Riku!
Riku & Iori: *Huuug!*
Iori: … Ahem. Ogami-san, we’ll be in your care from now on as well.
Riku: Banri-saaan! Thank you!
Banri: Of course! Thank you for the cute hug! I love you both!
Mitsuki: Up next will be me, Yamato-san, and Nagi!

Yamato: H-huuh? Well, I’ll go along with it since it’s for Banri-san……. *chu!*
Banri: Haha! Thank you! Getting blown kisses from you three made my heart skip a beat!
Tamaki: Alright! MEZZO’s next! Let’s go, Sou-chan! Wave your arms really big!
Sougo: Leave it to me. I’ve been stretching.
MEZZO: We love you thiiiis much!
We look forward to working with you in the future too!
Banri: You two….. Thank you! I love both of you, too!
Ryuu: Then, it’s TRIGGER’s turn next! Let’s do it!
TRIGGER: Let’s share a dream you never have to wake from.
TRIGGER: BANG!
Banri: Uwahh, so cool…! TRIGGER literally shot through my heart!
Anesagi: Fufu! You wouldn’t be able to be in one piece after receiving fanservice like this!
Yuki: Now then, Ban. Will you also accept our fanservice?
Momo: I’ll make a heart with Yuki….! Please accept it, Ban-san!
Re:vale: Heaaart!
Banri: Thank you…! I got the best Re:vale heart!
Okarin: Surely! They were both perfect!
Touma: Alright! We’re the last ones up. Let’s do it!
ZOOL: Only look at us…!
Banri: S-so cool! The power of just a wink…!
Shirou: Please let me take a video with my phone later!
Riku: And now….. Everyone will go! One… two… three!
TRIGGER & IDOLISH7 & Re:vale & ZOOL: Happy Birthday!
Banri: Thank you…..! It was amazing, I’ve never had such a luxury! The fanservice medley from everyone was the best!
Banri: I am so fortunate to receive a gift packed with so much love like this.
Riku: We’re the fortunate ones…! It’s because of you and our manager that we’re able to make all of our fans happy.
Tenn: I agree. It’s because of Anesagi-san that we can stand like we have. Please continue to stay by our side.
Momo: We’ve known Okarin for a long time, but we have never forgotten this feeling of gratitude. We’re always relying on you. Let’s continue towards the view at the top together!
Haruka: Thank you for believing in us, and for making us believe in you. I really do think…. that I’m happy you’re here, Utsugi-san.
Haruka: Well then…. Ready, and….!
TRIGGER & IDOLiSH7 & Re:vale & ZOOL: Thank you for everything! We look forward to continue working together!
Tsumugi: ……. T-thank you so very much!! I will do my very best to make sure you smile!
Anesagi: ….. It kind of feels like a proposal, huh. No matter what, I will always be on your side. I’ll always think of you.
Okarin: I want to forever and always protect the scenery that Momo-kun and Yuki-kun have shown me, and go towards it together! Re:vale really is the best!
Shirou: I am so grateful to have the privilege of being by your side to watch over the growth of everyone in ZOOL. This must be my first time getting to thank you.
Banri: We are everyone’s #1 fans and your biggest supporters.
End of rabbitv.
TL Notes:
The word used is 絶妙 so a more literal translation could be something like “Stop making it exquisitely realistic!” but I didn’t think “exquisite” in English really fit the tone of what he was saying since “exquisite” is usually used in a beauty/fancy context so I went with "strangely elaborate".
The phrasing here is literally something along the lines of “knockout your partner” but it sounded more violent than I think intended when worded like that so I changed it to fainted lol .
Side note: This is so unimportant but even though I translated them both as “cool”, Banri describes TRG as やばい (yabai) and ZOOL as 格好いい (kakkoi)
And thank you to @marina41trench for helping me brainstorm on some lines I got stumped on!!

6w7 or 7w6?
Happy (belated) New Year! I’m trying to determine my Enneagram type and I’ve considered 3w2 every now and again but have come to the conclusion (the overthinking was one clue) that I’m most likely a head type. Could you help me find out which one it is most likely? Thanks! When I first read about the Enneagram, I immediately related to the re-framing, optimism and avoidance of pain associated with 7s. I have often been quick to see the upsides after an initial disappointment and even act as if I got what I wanted all along - In part because I don’t want people to think of me as unhappy, since that may shift the conversation on to negativity. I’m usually high energy and enjoy looking forward to things almost more than actually experiencing them, except when a situation is difficult, boring, or heavy on details (or when not as exciting as I imagined). But I don’t experience a fear of missing out so much in the physical world, like with traveling, partying, etc., unlike one 7 I know who is constantly DOING stuff, and while I enjoy a good adventure, 90% of the time I’m just talking, thinking and daydreaming about the stuff. But I guess my biggest hang-up about being a 7 is my dependency on other people at times. When I’m in doubt or anxious I like to talk things over and need reassurance from other people so that I can feel like the matter is dealt with and I can move on. Especially in my school years, I was very competitive and searching for praise and validation. Also I usually avoid conflict and try to smooth-talk it or diffuse the situation, because it’s easier if people get along.
All of this sounds fairly consistent with my 792 sibling, minust the not doing things parts -- she's an ESFP so she is constantly taking action in the moment. If that's the only hangup, have you considered whether your MBTI type plays into that? Are you an intuitive? Or an introvert? It sounds like it, if "dreaming is more exciting than doing."
7w6s are assertive types who are also positive cores; they are a lot more self-confident and inclined to re-frame things than 6w7s, but there is also a 6 need for others, for support, for encouragement, to not be separate from those they love, questioning ("can I do this? well of course I can, I'm awesome and powerful!"). In my experience they power forward, stumble and fall, then call it a learning experience or say it's for the best (7 re-framing into optimism) and keep going, whereas a 6w7 sees a failure as confirmation that they aren't as competent as they want to be.
On a completely different note, have you watched Glass Onion? I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts about it.
I have, but it's been a few days and I wasn't watching it with MBTI types in mind other than to say Ed Norton's character is an ESTP 3, and Kate Hudson's character was an ESFP, probably another 3 (or a 7, she was pretty egotistical but shallow/all about appearances). I found it fun and clever but was horrified at what befell the Mona Lisa. ;)

Conquering Imposter Syndrome: Elevating Self-Esteem and Confidence to New Heights
Dear reader, have you ever found yourself in a situation where you're doubting yourself? Perhaps you're using harsh labels like "fraud" or "phony," worrying about your competence or qualifications. Don't worry; unfortunately, this is quite common and is known as 'Imposter Syndrome.' Approximately 1 out of 3 people suffer from it, and 70% of individuals will experience it in their lifetime. It commonly occurs when entering new situations, such as a new school, program, or job, where the pressure to succeed, combined with a lack of experience, leads to feelings of inadequacy.
Imposter Syndrome is not limited to new situations; it can also affect individuals who experience low self-efficacy, perfectionism, and neuroticism. Additionally, it may overlap with social anxiety.
If you find yourself grappling with Imposter Syndrome, there are helpful resources available. The Student Wellness Centre offers counseling services, providing support to diminish symptoms and identify the root cause. It's possible that Imposter Syndrome is linked to an underlying concern, such as anxiety or depression. Consider reaching out to professionals, including counselors or psychiatrists, to help navigate through these feelings and conquer any underlying issues.
Visit the Student Wellness Centre counseling page to explore how you can receive the support you need. Check out additional support provided by the Student Wellness Centre:

“Navigating the leap from Science to Humanities” - Jacqueline
I experienced major imposter syndrome in my first year of university when I began as a life science student. I felt like everyone was much more qualified, had everything together, and was overall smarter and more capable than I was. I struggled with these feelings for months, especially around midterm and exam seasons when I realized my passion for science wasn't as strong as I had thought (I was also at risk of failing two courses, lol!). Long story short, I was able to change my life course through a lot of introspection, seeking support from the student wellness center, and visiting the academic office. My first year was tough, and I faced numerous mental challenges with my self confidence and in the uncertainty of switching majors. Looking back, I would do it all over again if it meant being where I am today. I encourage you, readers, to have compassion for yourselves and listen to what that inner voice is telling you, remember that you are not alone in your experience!
“Starting a New Job” - Anastasia
For me, I had major imposter syndrome when I was offered a Teaching Assistant position at Mac. While I jumped for joy at the offer, as soon as that happiness wore off, I felt like I was going to puke from the anxiety! I’d never taught anything before, nor did I think I knew the course well enough to help 25 students learn about the program I am so passionate about. I started to doubt myself, beating myself up and telling myself that I wasn’t the right fit for the position, worried that I’d scare off or impact the education of the students in my tutorial. I would go into my tutorial and reprimand myself whenever I couldn’t answer a student’s question at that moment. But, as we near the end of the semester, I realized that I loved being a TA! It was an awesome and fulfilling experience for me and it showed me to stay positive and believe in myself. Beating yourself up and staying in your head may harm your mental health, while also not allowing you to celebrate your successes! You’ve gotta let go of those negative feelings and just go for it because if you don’t start now, when will you?
Upcoming Event: Industry Night!
Are you still trying to figure out what to do with that comms, media arts, or humanities degree? So I'm new here on Tumblr so I'm not sure how it works (I'm used to Wattpad lol), but, if you feel like it, you could make a headcanon with mha guys and a female reader, where Bakugou, Todoroki, Deku and Kirishima help y / n after a coma (if you know, after a coma, you find yourself in a vegetative state and a long physical and mental therapy is required)
I repeat, only if you want, I don't want to force you (my scenarios are quite strange and sad I know)
Anyway, waiting for your reply, love you so much <333
— Recovery
Bakugo x gn!fem!reader, Todoroki x gn!fem!reader, Midoriya x gn!fem!reader, Kirishima x gn!fem!reader
TW: Some Swearing (mostly on bakugos)
Note: I love you too!💖 enjoy boo <333 I'm not an expert on comas or anything like that so a lot of this is probably wrong
— BAKUGO.
⇶ He's the first person to show up when you finally wake up
⇶ And the expression he makes, it's almost like he can't believe what he's seeing
⇶ Because he can't.
⇶ Drops to his knees by your bedside and holds your hand, crying his eyes out while telling you how glad he is that you're awake between hiccups
⇶ Throughout your recovery, he's always there to help and gives you aggressive but genuine encouragement
"C'mon, eat your damn food. I know you're still getting used to it, but you're not gonna get better by not eating. So fucking eat, shit head!"
⇶ Very aggressive, but you know he means well
⇶ Always give you kisses and tells you 'nice job' as positive reinforcement, even it was as simple as feeding yourself
⇶ Katsuki always acts like it's a hassle, but he does literally everything you need
⇶ You want him to help you with trying to walk again? He's there
⇶ You said the pillow supporting your back feels out of place? He'll fix it right now
⇶ Unless you want a new one, he can get that done too
⇶ Katsuki is there every step of the way, and though others come by to visit you every now and then, he comes to see you as much as possible
⇶ Though he comes off as aggressive and rough around the edges, out of everyone, he cares the most
"You're doing fuckin' awesome baby, I'm so proud of you. I love you so much."
— TODOROKI.
⇶ Shoto is just walking into the room whenever you're waking up
⇶ He watches from the doorway, frozen, as you stir in your hospital bed
⇶ When you open up your eyes and look at him, his eyes are wide and overflowing with tears of joy
⇶ He quietly told you he'd be right back between stutters and ran to go get the nurse
⇶ Shoto was used to hospitals by now, considering the situation with his mom
⇶ He's seen it all, so he's got a good idea on how physical therapy works
⇶ He normally visits you on the same days he goes to see his mom
⇶ Whenever he comes, he always sneaks in some small amount of food or candy for you
⇶ Shoto's encouragement is always small
⇶ Usually in the form if small smiles, pecks on the forehead or cheek, or a gentle hand on your head
⇶ And when they're verbal they're short, quiet, and sweet
"You're doing incredible, love. I'm so proud of all the progress you've made."
⇶ Shoto helps you as much as possible
⇶ He comes to your physical therapy as moral support, and let's you talk to him about your mental therapy too (if you want)
⇶ Just makes a good partner to spend time with while healing
⇶ He'll talk to you, help you walk outside a bit, and asks your nurses what more he can do for you
⇶ Attentive to your needs. Ask, and you shall receive
⇶ You want him to sneak you in a specific food? He's got it stuffed in his school bag.
⇶ You want a new blanket? He'll ask you for a specific one.
⇶ Shoto is as supportive as can be, his presence was calming and he knew what he was doing
⇶ He was ready to help you in any way he could, just say the word
"Oh, I got you that blanket you were talking about last time. I'm really proud of how far you've come, love, and I wanted to get you something to show that."
— MIDORIYA.
⇶ Honestly, Izuku hadn't even seen you wake up before he went and got the nurses
⇶ Everytime you made even the slightest movement, or breathed differently when he came to visit, he'd immediately run crying to a nurse telling them you're waking up
⇶ He did it so often that all the nurses and doctors just rolled their eyes when he came to them, but they had to go check anyways because of protocol
⇶ Except this time, he was right
⇶ And by the time he got back to the room with the nurse you were already looking around a bit and the first thing you truly caught sight of was Izuku crying his eyes out
⇶ He was so worried, and until you're fully recovered and discharged from the hospital he probably won't stop worrying for even a second
⇶ Always asking you questions, wondering if you're comfortable or need anything
"Your blankets are comfortable, right? You aren’t cold? Do you need another–"
"Izuku." You cut him off.
He turned his head, silently questioning you.
"I already have three blankets."
⇶ Now, Izuku himself has actually had a bit of physical therapy
⇶ It was just for his arms, after damaging them so badly and so many times in a row, they made him do a little physical therapy for good measure
⇶ He wouldn't know how to help you a whole lot in your case, but he could help with the basics and then some if he has instructions from the nurses
⇶ Always gives you words of encouragement, no matter if you had a good or bad day, he tells you that you did good and gives you kisses
⇶ Izuku is probably the most attentive person you could ask for
⇶ Gets you food, blankets, helps you with extra physical therapy, talks to you about what ever
⇶ He usually catches you up on what's been happening at school, and always goes on about something cool that one of the pros did
⇶ Izuku is always ready to help someone out, and that especially goes for you. Just say the word and he'll do it no questions asked
— KIRISHIMA.
⇶ This sweet thing is dead asleep at your bed side when you wake up
⇶ Whenever he came to visit you before you woke up, he'd kind of just chill there, silently hoping you'll magically wake up
⇶ Would end up doing some homework, studying, or taking a nap
⇶ And sometimes, he'd even pull out a book he'd been reading and read to you, even if you weren't aware
⇶ You sit in your hospital bed, trying to recollect yourself as Eijiro was still in a chair beside your bed, head in the palm of his hand while a book rested on his lap
⇶ About 5 minutes passed before he began to stir awake himself
⇶ He was groggy for a few seconds, wiping drool off his face and rubbing his eyes
⇶ And when he finally collected himself, he took a glance at you only to find you staring back at him
⇶ His mouth gaped and his eyes nearly popped out of his skull before he took another few blinks to make sure he wasn't dreaming
⇶ Eijiro soon found himself crying into your lap and grasping both of your hands between his rough palms, telling you how happy he is that you're awake and how he was so worried
"Oh my god, Y/n!" Eijiro sobbed. "I- I can't believe it, you're really awake. I was so worried for so long, I was starting to think you'd n– never wake up." He gasped.
"I'm so happy you're here."
⇶ You simply smiled down at him, tearing up, not yet having the energy to speak, but he knew you were just as happy to be back
⇶ Eventually, he did realize that he should probably go and alert a nurse that you're awake
⇶ Once your physical and mental therapy started a few days later, Eijiro didn't stop coming to visit
⇶ Always comes in with a sharp toothed grin, kissing your cheek before sitting down and talking to you
⇶ He talks to you about what's been happening at school, asks how therapy has been going, and even now he reads to you every so often
⇶ And some days, you nap together
⇶ Sometimes he brings you food, usually little treats and candies that he knew you liked
⇶ He'll bring in a 4 pack of cupcakes for the two of you whenever you reach a therapy milestone
⇶ And of course, Eijiro has to pair it with a speech about how proud he is of you, and how much he loves you, and how he's so happy you're up and feeling better
"... And I just want you to know, that I'm so proud of you. And that I'm so so so happy that you're here right now, and that I love you more than words can explain."
⇶ He definitely cries everytime, but it's okay because expressing your feelings is manly
⇶ Overall, Eijiro is the best person to have by your side at anytime
⇶ To laugh, cry, imagine things together, or even take a nap with, he's there every step of the way, and honestly keeps you going

Stupid boy, stupid feelings, stupid friend, stupid books, stupid small fucking locker…
My grumbling only stops when Flynn arrives at my locker in concern. If my grumbling wasn’t an obvious indicator of my current disdain, then it was the rough attempt at shoving my books into the cramped locker.
“Uh, who pissed in your cereal this morning?” Flynn asked slowly. She flickered back and forth between my disgruntled expression and my locker.
“Luke. He was supposed to drive me to school this morning, but he had to take care of something and cancelled. He thought yesterday was Saturday instead of Sunday and therefore had whoever that blonde chick from his history class come over and then this morning had to drive her home and to school,” I rant while attempting to close my locker, “and to top it off, since I waited for him and then had to drive myself, there were no more parking spaces so I had to park on the street!” I huff when I finally shove my locker closed.
“Yikes. At least you won’t have to see his face until lunch,” Flynn offers with a shrug. I shake my head and walk with her to our first class.
“You mean he’s safe until lunch. That boy, I swear…”
-
“You owe me, asshole,” I sigh once I sit down at our lunch table. By the time it was lunch, my anger faded to resignation.
“I know, I’m so sorry, Y/N. I don’t know how I mixed up my days,” Luke apologizes as soon as the words leave my mouth.
“What happened?” Julie asks once she sits down next to me. Reggie and Alex already knew the situation because the boys were always early for the lunch period. All three still grimace when I explain it to Julie.
“You dummy” was all that Julie had to say to Luke before she started to eat. As soon as the guys started to joke around with him, Flynn, Julie, and I talked amongst ourselves, complaining about our upcoming tests.
I was back in good spirits after lunch and walked with Luke to literature, the only class we shared. It was definitely the class I struggled to pay attention the most because we always messed around. Luke never failed to make me laugh or distract me somehow. Our teacher, Mr. Delusa, was used to our antics, and, frankly, didn’t care enough to yell at us for misbehaving. This time, Luke decided to make up for ditching me by writing little compliments on my notebook.
Y/N is so smart.
She’s smarter than me. (he gives me a rough nudge when I underline that line)
She’s also really cool
But not cooler than me. (nudges me again when I cross that line out)
But she’s still awesome.
And she’s prettier than Mr. Delusa.
Although I already forgave him since it really wasn’t a big deal, I appreciated his efforts - more than I should. His silly attempt at making me feel better worked too well and I could feel my heart start to beat faster when he attempts to write more legibly. It wasn’t hard to be attracted to Luke - gorgeous, passionate, charming, funny, etc. But the way he truly cared for his friends was what really made me fall for him.
Now Luke Patterson is a good friend, don’t get me wrong. He’s always ready to stand up for the five of us if we ever ran into trouble. He’s talked Julie and Flynn down from fighting Carrie multiple times, but has encouraged them to share a few words with the girl whenever she crossed the line. And, according to Luke, no idea that Alex and Reggie have is a stupid idea and should definitely be pursued. Luke’s always the first one to push us to do things despite any nerves. The amount of times Luke has stopped Alex from backing out of asking Willie out before they started dating was too many to count. He was always there for us - well most of the time.
Because despite being a good friend, Luke is definitely not a good boyfriend. Or that’s what he claims as to why he prefers flings and one-off “dates” instead of getting into a relationship. His attitude towards dating is always flippant and never serious. He’d rather be with one girl on a Friday and then another one on a Tuesday than settle down with one person for, god forbid, more than three days. He’s escaped into another girl’s arms one too many times - enough to get a reputation around school. But it is what it is. Luke is a good friend, just with a notorious reputation.
“So are we still gonna check out that new breakfast place on Saturday?” I ask him as we pack up our backpack at the end of class.
To give context, Luke and I came up with this goal to find the best breakfast place in town. One random day during the summer, we talked about our love of breakfast foods and eventually began to argue on which restaurant had the best breakfast. It got so heated that we didn’t talk for a few days, only making up with each other after we established this mission. So, around once or twice a month, we go out and test a restaurant. Sometimes, our friends happily joined us in our endeavors, but most of the time I would find myself alone with the doe-eyed boy.
That’s probably when my feelings started to change for him. In between the bites of pancakes and the banter, I got to know one of my best friends a little better. I found myself starting to stare whenever he drank a sip of coffee or falling in love with his laugh. His habit of tapping a beat on the table became more endearing than annoying. Even our arguments over what we thought of the food was starting to become a favorite pastime because it was always filled with teasing. Sometimes, I caught myself slipping and imagining that these were dates. But when school started back up and his attention was directed elsewhere, I realized that I was only a fool stuck in a sticky situation.
“Yeah! And I’ll pay for the meal to make up for this morn-“
“Hey Luke!” Sara, our classmate, interrupts with a cheerful tone. Already a little annoyed, I throw my backpack on as she continues to talk, knowing that we were having a conversation. “I was wondering if you were free tonight for some studying?” Sara asks while looking him up and down.
“You mean study for our lit test this Friday right?” Luke flirts right back. I roll my eyes at the low voice he used before making my way out of the classroom, frown etched on my face. I lost him as soon as Sara batted her long eyelashes at him.
-
I try not to let his dismissal get to me as I make my way over to Julie’s house after school, but I couldn’t stop myself from thinking about it. To be honest, the fact that he just immediately turned his attention to Sara or the fact that he continues to get with these girls with no second thought weren’t the things that bothered me the most. No, it’s my damn stupid feelings that are driving me up the wall.
“Are you ready to get this project over with?” Julie asks when she opens the door for me.
“No, but do I have a choice?” She chuckles at my joke while I set my bag down and take out my laptop.
Our stupid research project distracts me from my disheartened feelings. Julie helps by being the best project partner with her intelligence and quick thinking. I couldn’t believe that we had finished it in just a few hours until we were happily closing our laptops for the night. Closing all those tabs on our laptops was almost as euphoric as stuffing our faces with dinner as a reward for our hard work.
“So how did our favorite guitarist make it up to you after lunch?” Julie asked with a pointed look.
“He said he’ll pay for breakfast on Saturday,” I answer with a shrug. “Or he would’ve finished saying that if Sara didn’t interrupt with a ‘study invitation’.”
“Let me guess, Luke’s over at her place right now?” Julie asks with a knowing tone. I try not to think about him and Sara and their ‘studying’.
“Oh, I don’t doubt it,” I roll my eyes in hopes that Julie doesn’t notice my pained expression. She peers at me curiously as I focus on finishing my food.
“So how long have you liked him?” Julie asks softly. I don’t answer her question as I start cleaning up our dinner. I take a second to gather my words in the silence that follows.
“Since this summer,” I answer quietly. The nerves in my voice weren’t from fear of her judgment but rather admitting these feelings out loud. Now it all seemed too real - my feelings of attraction and heartbreak for Luke is out now without any way of taking them back or pretending they didn’t exist. Julie nods knowingly.
“Me and Alex thought the whole breakfast mission was just an excuse to hide your dates from us. When we realized that you guys actually weren’t dating, well, we thought you would end up together eventually. But then school started back up and Luke…” I shake my head as she trails off, understanding what she was referring to.
“Then school started back up,” I repeat. I come back around and sat down next to Julie who was grimacing. “I almost forgot his reputation. Won’t be making that mistake again.”
“Maybe you should talk to him about your feelings, I can tell that you’re hurting from this,” Julie offers, ironically echoing some of Luke’s words when she was nervous to talk to Nick before they started dating.
“Hellllll no! I am not gonna tell him I like him! Are you crazy?” I look at her with wide eyes.
“But what if he likes you too? Because me and Alex thought he did,” Julie argues back.
“I can guarantee that he does not like me back. He could have any girl he wants and he clearly understands that if this morning and this afternoon is anything to go by!” I argue back. Julie could see the pain in my eyes from my statement.
“I just hate seeing you hurt over him. He may be our friend, but I don’t like the way he’s treating you,” Julie says in her soft tone. She wraps an arm around me and rests her head against my shoulder.
“It’s fine, Jules. These feelings will hopefully go away eventually,” I say. We both were unconvinced, but didn’t say anything else on the subject.
-
When Luke rests against the booth and lays an arm across the back of it, all I could think of was the unfairness of it all. Why did I have to like this good-looking, fellow breakfast loving, idiot of a friend? He’s not allowed to sit there with his charming smile and beg me to listen to the band’s new songs with excitement in his voice and not know how he makes me feel. Why did my heart want a heartbreaker?
“And Alex actually has a duet with Julie for this song and it sounds so good! You have to come by for rehearsals at some point next week because this song is fucking killer!” He exclaims as he digs into his breakfast burrito.
“I will gladly listen to that. Man, I haven’t been to one of your rehearsals in a while,” I say thoughtfully, while taking a sip of my chocolate milk. Don’t judge me - chocolate milk is for all ages (and Luke agrees).
“You haven’t,” he muses with a mouth full of food, “I miss having you there.”
“Really?” I ask, successfully masking the eagerness in my voice.
“Yeah! Who else is going to back me up when Alex starts roasting me for literally doing nothing?” Luke tries to smirk, but his blown out cheeks from all the food he stuffed in his mouth made him look like a chipmunk.
“Um, still no one since I usually join him? You forget that I’m literally only there to help Julie keep y’all from fooling around too much.” He playfully rolls his eyes before he steals a piece of bacon from my plate and quickly shoves it into his mouth. “Hey!”
“You deserve that, you meanie.” He tries to swat my hand away from stealing a piece of his bacon, but it doesn’t work. I happily chew on my new bacon, closing my eyes in exaggeration. I miss his twinkling eyes and soft smile.
“Well, I don’t know about you, but I think that was a pretty solid breakfast,” I observe after I swallow the last of my food. I scold Luke when he lets out a burp with no hesitation. He lightly kicks my ankle in retaliation.
“It was. But does it deserve the title of the best breakfast?” He tilts his head and I almost get distracted by how his jaw becomes sharper from this angle. He raises his eyebrow as he looks at me expectantly.
I shake my head no and he agrees with me with a chuckle. Once the check comes around, I reach for it, but he swats at my hand again.
“I’m paying for it, remember?” He quickly takes out his wallet and starts taking out money. I lightly kick him under the table as a thank you. I don’t think he took it as an action of gratitude, but oh well.
Once he pays the bill he gets out of the booth and stretches. A sliver of his toned torso is level with my eyesight and I truly try not to drool right then and there. I busy myself with gathering my things and standing as well. We both say thank you to our waitress who wishes us goodbye but not before shifting her eyes between us in a suggestive way. I wanted to correct her and say we were not on a date, but Luke was already holding the door open for me. I wrap my jacket closer to me as we step out of the cozy restaurant and walk beside him to his car.
“So you down to hang out still? We could go to the mall or something?” I offer, wanting to spend time with my elusive friend.
“I can’t. I got a date with Amanda in an hour. You remember her right? She’s the girl who sits by our lunch table,” Luke says while he starts driving.
“Oh,” I say quietly. The content headspace I was in fades away as Luke turns up the radio and drives back to my place, not knowing any better.
“But we could hang out tomorrow if you want?” he suggests, giving me a side glance. Not even his nice profile could distract me from the hurt slowly starting to creep into my chest.
“No, uh, I gotta help my mom out at her shop tomorrow,” I lie. I didn’t want to meet up with him, knowing that it would be after tonight’s activities.
He nods and we continue to drive in silence. I turn to him and quietly observe him for a few moments. His soft lips were hidden under his teeth as he chew on them out of habit. His sharp features makes me want to reach out and trace the lines of his face, but I knew it wasn’t my place. With that reality check, I put myself back into the present. I wanted to ask him something again, but I feared that his answer hasn’t changed.
“So you’re still all about that one-night stand lifestyle?” I ask curiously, gauging his reaction. He lifts his chin up as he watches the road ahead of him.
“Hasn’t done me wrong yet.” He chuckles at my raised eyebrow as a montage of different angry girls snapping at Luke flicker through my mind. “Okay, it hasn’t failed me yet.”
“So you still don’t want to have a girlfriend?”
“Why would I?” he asked incredulously. I thought I would feel defeat just like I did the last time he explained his adventurous lifestyle, but instead I felt a combination of numbness and acceptance at his answer. It was better than feeling hurt.
“It’s just nice to have someone you know? Someone to have by your side to make you happy or be there when you’re sad. Someone who can always make you laugh or make you feel all warm inside,” I say mindlessly, “I bet it’s nice to just love someone and have them love you back…” I trail off, resting my head on the window.
“That’s a nice thought.” I couldn’t tell anything from his response or tone, but didn’t pry any further. We spent the rest of the drive in a comfortable silence. Luke would occasionally sing along to the radio.
“You’re gonna come to one of our rehearsals right?” Luke asks once he pulls out to my house.
“I’ll try to, but I might be busy,” I say truthfully, thinking about the midterms that were coming up. He lets out a disappointed grunt as I step out of the car.
“You better come or else no more searching for the best pancakes!” he bargains. I gasp and stare at Luke through the open window.
“You’re evil Patterson! I’ll really try to come by if I can.” He lets out a sigh before conceding with a nod.
“Have fun on your date,” I say with a fake playful tone. Luke couldn’t see me dig my nails into the palm of my hand.
“I will. I’ll see you later, Y/N!” Luke speeds off. He doesn’t see the dejected girl walking back to her house in his rearview mirror.
-
“Okay what did I do?” Luke barges through my front door as soon as I opened it. I was bewildered enough as it is to get a random knock on my door on a Friday night, but even more so when Luke angrily walks into my living room with a scowl etched on his face. I thought he would be out with who knows which girl instead of stomping around my living room.
“What?” I ask, confusion evident in my voice. I stand in front of him with my arms crossed while his hands were clenched at his sides. I try not to let my eyes trail up his tense arms.
“What did I do?” He repeats while shake his head at me with wide eyes. He took a step closer to me.
“Huh?” I repeat his actions back to him, still confused about why he was here.
“What did I do to make you not talk to me? You’ve been avoiding me this whole week!” He exclaims.
To be fair, I was truthful when I said I was busy with school and my own extracurricular activities. My friends all understood how important my grades and clubs were to me and weren’t mad about me being MIA. However, that didn’t excuse my slight avoidance after our breakfast rendezvous last Saturday when I realized I loved him - a terrible thing to realize.
As I walked back into my house after Luke dropped me off, I figured out that the person I was describing in the car was him. Following that revelation, my heart dropped to my stomach and I hated that. I hated that I felt a good amount of dread that came with the love. Since that morning, his words replay in my head every time I entertained a possibility for us. His refusal to change his ways reminds me of the harsh reality that I will always be just a friend and Luke will always be unavailable.
So you can understand why I haven’t really wanted to be around the boy too much. As soon as we had our first class together after that Saturday, Luke knew something was wrong, but didn’t think anything of it. If anything, he was too distracted by Sara or whoever else to notice the growing distance between us. Or at least that’s what I thought.
“Seriously? Nothing?” Luke says with a frustrated tone when I didn’t speak up, “you’ve been giving me the cold shoulder since Saturday. Did I say something at breakfast? Are you mad that I didn’t hang out with you afterwards? You know I had that date!” I couldn’t stop myself from rolling my eyes. He takes another step closer to me.
“See that’s what I mean! Is it Amanda? You know it was only one date. I didn’t really like her either. She was too talk-“
“Please stop talking Luke.” I beg quietly.
“No. I’m gonna keep talking until you start talking!” He yells at me throwing a hand up in the air.
“Fine!” Luke eyes widen, not expecting an outburst from me. It was my turn to take a step closer in anger. If he wanted me to talk then that’s I’m gonna talk.
“I do have a problem with you! I have a problem with how you’re always going off with girls, fucking them, leaving them, everything!”
“Okay, but why do you have a problem with that? What I want to do with them is none of your business!” He yells back just as soon as I end my statement.
“But it is! Because-“ I cut myself off and take a breath. Our chests were heaving at this point, almost touching. I could smell his cologne clearly as I take huge breaths from my nose. It was all too much for me and I take a step back.
“You know what,” I start calmly and shake my head, “you’re right, it isn’t my business. I don’t have a problem with you. I have a problem with me.” I take another step back, creating more distance between us. I start to clench and unclench my fist before I lift my head up and stare at the beautiful boy in front of me.
“My problem is that I’ve fallen for a guy that won’t like me back. Remember what I talked about in the car after breakfast? I realized that I was describing you and it hurt knowing that you were heading off to another date with another random girl while I was left here all alone. And it will always be like that and I can’t handle it anymore. So yeah it would be nice to love someone and have them love you back, but it absolutely fucking sucks if they don’t love you back.”
A pained smile stretches across my face as I finally feel the weight be lifted off my shoulders. However, Luke was silent. For the first time he was speechless, mouth open with no words falling out.
“Listen, I’m sorry I ghosted you when I should’ve at least said something to you. I just need time to get over these stupid feelings and then we can go back to the way things were okay?”
It killed me to say that but it was better than the silence that followed my confession. He closed his mouth but didn’t speak, didn’t move, didn’t do anything but look at me with a hard stare. Not able to bear another second in the room with him and his silent rejection, I nod my head once and walk back to my bedroom, closing the door behind me. I waited a minute before I heard the front door close and then I started crying, wishing for a knock on the door that never came.
-
It wasn’t as awkward as I imagined it would be. Sure, we didn’t speak to each other for a few days, but then the small talk started and it sort of got better. He never brought up our confrontation and I didn’t either. I’m not even going to mention the dull ache I get whenever we talk though. Let’s just keep burying that until it doesn’t exist anymore, right?
“Yo, what did you do to Luke?” Alex asks me as he comes up behind me, making me jump. Reggie follows him and wraps an arm around my shoulder. I thought everyone went their separate ways after lunch while I had to grab some last minute things from my locker.
“What do you mean?” I ask with an uncertain smile. Alex and Reggie share a look behind my shoulders.
“He’s been kinda off the past few days. I don’t know, like he’s not paying attention too much or he’s grumpy,” Alex explains.
Our friends knew something happened between us, but didn’t want to get caught in the middle of it. Instead, they carried on, trying their best to maintain a sense of normalcy amongst the six of us. I was grateful for it because I didn’t want my annoying feelings to create any rifts between any of us. But it seems like Luke was causing some drama on his own.
“What does that have to do with me?”
“Well, he doesn’t really care about school, our band hasn’t been having problems, and since his parents have been working more, he hasn’t had any problems with them in a while,” Reggie lists off.
“Maybe one of his girls is bothering him again?” I raise an eyebrow at the boys once I close my locker. As much as I would love to stay and chat with them about Luke, I had a test in our next class and would rather concern myself with the test material than a certain sleeveless, beanie loving guitarist.
“That’s the thing!” Reggie exclaims, “we haven’t seen him with another girl in like three weeks!”
“Maybe he’s just taking a break? Giving his dick a rest, I don’t know,” I shake my head as I still don’t understand the problem or why they think I have something to do with Luke’s odd behavior.
“Y/N, dude, we all know you’ve been avoiding him, but you can’t not see he’s acting different,” Alex says with a knowing yet disappointed tone, “and we think your little silent treatment might be why he’s been off lately.”
I feel a flash of embarrassment when Alex calls me out, but shake it off. If he knows why I’m avoiding him, then he should just leave it at that. I throw my head back with a sigh before looking at the two concerned boys again.
“I honestly haven’t noticed, but I’ll look out for it next class. And for the record, I don’t think I have anything to do with it,” I conceded, glancing at the clock in the hallway. I had just a couple minutes to get to class. “Okay, I gotta get going.”
“Good luck on your test!” Reggie yells after me as I head down the hallway. I send a thumbs up in the air before rushing into the classroom.
I search around the room past all the kids trying to get to their seats and see Luke chilling in his usual spot. He was just slowly tapping his pencil against his desk, staring off into space. As I make my way over to my seat next to him, I do notice that he’s a little less…him. Even when he needs to sit still, he’s usually tapping his fingers against the desk or shaking his leg or chewing on his necklace or whatever. He’s always moving as per his lively personality, but right now he couldn’t look any more bored. Maybe Alex and Reggie’s concern wasn’t out of nowhere…
Right as I sat down, our teacher started to hand out our tests. It wasn’t anything too difficult and I thanked my lucky stars that I made time to study for it. My eyes couldn’t help but peer to my side and observe Luke. During these past few weeks, I really haven’t given Luke too much thought. Sure, the first few days were a little difficult, but when everything else started to mount, it was easy to get distracted by it all. Now though, I wondered if Luke had studied a little for this test or was he too busy with other girls things like he usually is. What has Luke been up to lately?
Before I knew it, all tests were passed forward and the bell rang, signaling the end of our period. Luke hasn’t said a word to me once which is a little weird. Like I said, I haven’t completely ghosted him; we’ll share small talk almost every day in our class, but I guess not today. When I start gathering my things, I see Sara approach Luke again. It took actual control to prevent my eyes from rolling in annoyance.
“Hey Luke! I was wondering if you wanted to come over this weekend? We haven’t hung out in a while,” Sara pouts as she rests a hand on his arm.
“Oh, I can’t,” Luke replies smoothly, “I got some band things to take care of. Sorry Sara.”
I miss Sara’s pout as Luke catches my eye for a second. I couldn’t understand the emotions swirling in his eyes before he turns around and leaves the classroom. That quick exchange was definitely weird because I know for a fact that there’s nothing going on this weekend. Why would he lie and why did he look at me like that?
Alex’s words echo in my head for the next couple of days as I take the time to observe Luke when I could. They weren’t completely going crazy. To anyone else, Luke was the same carefree student who liked to joke around, but I could tell something was off. He would stare off in thought a little more than usual and he wasn’t as clearly involved in conversations. I was also surprised to learn that the guys were right - Luke was turning girls away. Even Julie says he hasn’t been scurrying off after practice to meet up with a girl. Now, I was extremely curious.
Something was bothering him and I have a feeling that it does concern me. I didn’t notice how often he glances over at me throughout this whole thing until he caught me watching him. We both would look away just as fast, not noticing our mirroring rosy cheeks. I didn’t realize how successful I was at focusing my attention elsewhere until I felt myself remembering what it was like to like Luke.
I’d forgotten how how he’d play with his rings, sliding them up and down his fingers. Or how his eyes would crinkle whenever he laughed or smiled. Or how funny it was when he would roll his eyes at Reggie complaining about how oblivious his crush was to him. Or how he’d rest his head on his fist and pretend to listen to Julie and Flynn whenever they talked about ideas for the band’s look. Or how pretty he was. Or how much I truly cared for his company.
But I’d also forgotten how much it hurts to love him.
“So have you figured out what’s going on with him?” Alex asks while we walk out of our shared class.
“Nope,” I shake my head as my stomach grumbles. Ugh, in-n-out is only one class period away.
“Neither have we but Julie and I think that if anyone could get him to talk about whatever it is, it’s you.”
“Me? Why me?” I quickly turn my head towards the blonde. I watch him roll his eyes with a sigh.
“C’mon, you’ve been watching him. Brushing off girls, but staring at you? He hasn’t talked to any of us about it, but it’s pretty obvious - he likes you and doesn’t know what to do with these feelings. Don’t fight me on this and go talk to Lukey boy.”
Alex walks away before my shocked reaction wears off. I walk to my last class in sort of a daze. I couldn’t even tell you what I was supposed to learn as I try to process Alex’s statement.
He was crazy. There’s no way that Luke likes me. I mean his fucking reputation doesn’t exactly let him. And we haven’t been having one-on-one time lately so there’s that. While I walk to my car after school ends, I came to the conclusion that Alex had no idea what he was talking about.
But maybe his idea about talking to Luke would help clear things up. Who am I kidding? I just fucking miss Luke. I want to have my friend back regardless of my feelings. Maybe it isn’t the smartest idea but I just miss him. I knew I would eventually, but I didn’t expect it to hurt this much. As I sat in my car, my mind was made up.
When I arrived at Julie’s house, confusion swept through me as I didn’t see any of the guys’ cars in the driveway. That’s weird, they usually have rehearsals right after school. Walking up to her front door, I knock and wait for Julie, wondering if I missed some announcement of cancelled practice at lunch. Julie opens the door and was happy to see me on the other side of it.
“Hey girl! What’s up?” Julie tilts her head with a confused smile.
“Hey Jules, I wanted to talk to Luke, but I guess you’re not having practice?” Julie’s confused smile turns into a smirk which puzzles me even more.
“Oh, you wanted to talk to Luke! For why?” She asks in a teasing tone. I roll my eyes at her behavior.
“Because I just wanted to see what’s up with him. Don’t you wanna know why he’s been acting weird?” I ask, trying to fight off the blush as her smirk widens.
“I know why he’s been acting weird. He hasn’t told me, but I know why,” she says knowingly. It didn’t take a genius to figure out what she’s implying. “Anyways, Luke cancelled practice today. Didn’t tell us why, but we all had a bunch of homework anyways so we agreed.”
“I wonder why he cancel-“ I was cut off by my phone ringing. I bring it up and see Luke’s name and photo flash across my screen. I don’t miss Julie’s excited expression as I answer his call.
“Luke?”
“Hey! Where are you? You’re not home!”
“Yeah, I’m not. I’m at Julie’s house because I thought you had rehearsals.”
“Oh so now you have time to go to our rehearsals. The one time you do and I cancel it! Of fucking course that happens,” Luke’s exasperation is evident through our phone call. I don’t bother to tell him that I was there for him.
“Why are you at my house?”
“Uh, how about we just meet up to continue this conversation? Remember that diner we tried in August, the one with the all day breakfast? It’s right in between yours and Julie’s houses.”
“Yup, the one on Market?”
“Yeah, see you in 10?”
“See you then,” I hang up and look to see Julie wiggling her eyebrows at me.
“About to go on a date now?” She asks, teasing tone still prominent as ever.
“Shut up. I’ll see you later?” I say walking down the pathway. Julie waves goodbye and I hurry back into my car.
My hands start to feel clammy on the wheel as I realize that I’m about to be alone with Luke, something that I haven’t done since I admitted that I loved him. Driving down the busy streets, my mind races with thoughts of what Luke wanted to talk about. I try to expect the worse as I pull into the parking lot of Jim’s Diner, my nerves having a fantastic party in my stomach. Parking next to Luke’s car, I step out and already see him sitting at a booth in front of a window. Taking a deep breath, I walk in to the diner and to his table. As soon as I sit down in front of him, he stops playing with his rings and looks at me.
“Hi”
“Hey,” Luke licks his lips. I could tell that he was nervous to talk to me, which freaked me out because he’s never nervous around any girl.
A waiter comes up and Luke quickly tell him our orders before I could even speak up. The waiter walks away, leaving us two in silence.
“So, uh, why were you at my house?” I ask slowly. I hide my hands under the table so he wouldn’t see me twiddling my thumbs.
“I wanted to talk to you.”
“About what?” I ask nervously, not prepared for what he has to say. Luke leans forward, placing his arms on the table. He squints at me with a very frustrated expression.
“You know I was happy right? Just doing me, sleeping around, doing whatever the fuck I want. I barely had to work to get girls and it was fun.”
“Okay, and?” I ask, clearly annoyed.
“But then you didn’t talk to me and I was mad about that. And then you told me you loved me and I was even more mad. Because now I was confused and didn’t know what to do about one of my best friends loving me. No one has ever loved me before. And then we continued to barely talk and we didn’t have any more breakfast dates. And then I realized that I missed our breakfast dates because I got to spend time with you. And I missed how we would make each other laugh or listen to each other whenever we had to rant about school or parents or whatever the fuck was bothering us and I started to miss how you would smile after you stole my food or try not to laugh whenever I bothered you during class or how you tease me whenever you had the chance. And it isn’t fair that you get to go about your life not knowing how you completely changed mine.”
Oh. Now it’s my turn to be speechless.
“And now I can’t think of any other girl except you. You and your bright eyes and your food-stealing habits and your smart mouth and your sweet smell and your pretty smile. I can’t think of anyone else to make me happy or be there for me when I’m sad or make me laugh or make me feel all warm inside. And I especially can’t think of doing anything else other than those things for you or think of anyone else doing those things for you.”
He says all this before our food even arrives at the table. As the waiter finally sets all of it down, I remain motionless, unable to do anything after that whole confession. He was breathing heavily through his nose, chewing at his lips.
We never reached for our food. Instead I let my gaze wander from his messy brown hair to his sharp jawline down his neck and to his tense shoulders. His arms bulged as he clenched and unclenched his clasped fists. My eyes flick back up to his eyes that were filled with passion and uncertainty.
“So what now?” I ask, finally reaching forward for a piece of bacon. He scoffs as I chew with a raised eyebrow.
“What now? I don’t know! I’ve never done this before!” He says leaning back and throwing his arms out in front of him.
“Well,” I start after swallowing, “after one person confesses their feelings and then the other person confesses their feelings, they usually start dating. Do you want to do that?”
“Yes! That’s what I want. I want this,” he gestures to the table. He sets his hands down and looks at me, blazing hazel eyes set with determination.
“I want you.”
“Okay,” I say.
“Okay?” I nod my head.
“Listen, I thought it would hurt more to see you go off with all these girls, but it hurt way more to be away from you and your stupid face. I tried to get rid of these feelings, bury them, but I can’t. So I’m not gonna sit here and bullshit you and tell you I don’t want to be with you. But I’m also not gonna bullshit you and tell you that I’m scared.”
“Why are you scared?” He asks quietly.
“It’s pretty obvious, Luke. You’re a fuck boy. Sure, you haven’t looked at another girl in a few weeks, but fuck, who’s to say you won’t in the future or when you’re with me? You said yourself, this reputation has yet to fail you.”
My concerns didn’t come from nowhere. These insecurities have been plaguing me from the moment I realized I liked him. Even if he confessed that he reciprocated my feelings, I was still rightfully hesitant about everything.
“Y/N, I’ve changed.” Luke lets out a frustrated sigh when he sees me raise an eyebrow at him in disbelief. “You’re right - you don’t know and I can’t prove it to you right now, but I swear, I will prove it to you every day if we’re together. You just have to trust that as your boyfriend - no, as your friend, I would never ever hurt you like that. I want you and only you for as long as you’ll have me. Please.”
I take a second to ponder over his words. I can’t lie - it’s a huge boost of confidence to hear Luke almost beg me to go out with him because like he said before, he didn’t need to try hard to get a girl. But his eyes, shining with sincerity and desperation, never looked away from me.
“Boyfriend, huh?” I ask. Luke slightly nods with his begging eyes.
“Okay, Luke. We’ll try it out. But I want to go slow.” I say firmly leaning forward to gauge his reaction.
“Slow is great, fantastic actually.” he says with relief while leaning forward as well. His grin was so infectious that I couldn’t stop one from growing on my face.
“So Y/N, you want to go on a date? We could go right now and grab breakfast?” Luke gestures to the food already set out in front of us again with a chuckle. I felt my heart stutter and my body start to heat up as I suddenly became the receiving end of his charming smirk and his teasing. He’s never used it on me before, and I’m happy that he hasn’t because I would not have been able to go up against it. I let out a fake gasp at his offer.
“Breakfast? That’s my favorite food! How did you know?” I tease when I reach for my chocolate milk. His eyes soften as he watches me lick my lips from the sweet drink.
“Lucky guess.”
With that last comment, he finally digs into his food. We both enjoy it in silence, comforted by each other’s presence. There was a warm glow settled over us as we sneak looks and small smiles at each other. It was like we were doing all of this for the first time.
We eventually start talking, catching up over the last few weeks. He actually scolds me for not coming around to rehearsals to which I promised that I would go to the next one. He pumps a fist in the air to celebrate his victory, giving me the perfect opportunity to snatch a small piece of fruit from his plate. Luke doesn’t even bother to protest, opting to lightly kick me under the table instead. I try to kick him back, but he traps my foot between his own. We share a smile when we don’t move our legs and continue to talk about school and whatever else.
I couldn’t stop stuttering or blushing now that Luke was so obvious about his feelings for me, never missing the opportunity to flirt with me. I literally would’ve never stood a chance if he ever directed his affection at me before. But it was so cute and honestly satisfying to see him falter when I grabbed his hand to hold or flirted back. He still scowled whenever I teased him though, but he would squeeze my hand afterwards and start rubbing his thumb back and forth. It was the best breakfast date I’ve ever had with him.
When we finish our food, he pays for it (you’ve paid for it 3 times in a row, Luke! - get used to it - Nope, I’m breaking up with you - stop it!) and sets the tip down on the table. I eagerly grab his outstretched hand, our hands fitting together like puzzle pieces. He continues to rub the back of my hand as we step out of the diner.
“I was actually starving so thank you for that,” I admit, nudging his shoulder. He nudges back with a chuckle.
“So did that count as our first date?” Luke asks as he leans against his car, facing me. I lean against my own, our hands still intertwined.
“I think so,” I nod my head. My heart jumps at the fact that this was actually happening.
“Do I get to kiss you on our first date, or do I have to wait for a second one?” Luke laughs when I scoff at his question. I couldn’t even be bothered to yell at him, just happy that he’s already looking forward to our second date just like I am.
I pull his hand towards me, tugging his body so that he was standing right above me. My gaze that was level to his broad chest moves up to his face, admiring his thoughtful expression.
“I’ve gotta be honest. I’ve thought about kissing you for a while now.”
“Really?” I ask in surprise, “me too.” He nods as he places his hands on my waist. His hands are warmer than the ones I place on his chest as he brings me in a little closer. “Please, don’t make me wait any longer.”
And Luke did not make me wait.

Fluff 💖
PowerPoint Presentation On Why You Should Date Them!
All of Class 1-A!
For a school project, you had to make a presentation on something that everyone needed or needed to know. After about a week, it was finally your time to shine. "Hi everyone!" You say as you get your computer set up, everyone smiles and looks up at the projector screen. "Okay so this is the presentation I made and it's called "Why You Should Date The Students of Class 1-A at UA." You say as you point at the title. Everyone's eyes go wide, Aizawa doesn't care since it was his nap time. You heard him lay his head on his desk, so you continued.
The first person to show up was Yuga Aoyama! You started to read off the points, "okay so the first person is Yuga Aoyama!" You say as you point to him in the front, he smiles. "Number one, he has wonderful fashion sense! Like that's who you would want to go to for it, second, he can teach you french! Yes, it'll probably take some time but hey, you'll still learn it! And lastly, he is such a fun person to be around!" You look back at him and he's smiling more now, "thank you dearly (y/n), I knew I was that gorgeous on camera!" He says and you laugh.
You go to the next slide, this time it says Mina Ashido! "Next up is my dear friend, Mina Ashido!" You can hear Mina giggle, you smile and continue. "First, she's always there when you need her! She's goofy and lovable so that is a plus! Second, she is romantic! Like girl, it's amazing!" You exclaim, you can hear Mina and some others laugh. "Lastly, she is the best to go anywhere with! She is so sociable and fun that you'll automatically have a great time! Bonus points for her great style, girl send me some of those tips!" You say as you wink at her, she bursts out laughing.
As you continue onto the next slide, it shows up as Tsuyu Asui! On the slide, you include a cute photo of her and a frog. "Now onto Tsuyu Asui! For one, she's mature and responsible! Tsu is focused on her schoolwork and home life. Second, she is like a mom to everyone! She knows how to look after us and makes us feel at home." You smile, Tsu smiles at you and you can hear her go "ribbit" every now and then. "Lastly, she is loving and caring. Even at your weak point, she can help you and give you all the emotional support you need."
"Next up is Tenya Iida!" You say and you can see him blush slightly. "First reason is that he's incredibly smart! If you ever have a problem or even just need some extra help, he'll be amazing for that! Second, he works hard. He is so determined that he'll want to make sure you can achieve your goals as well. Lastly, he's humble. He'll admit his mistakes and the rare occasions when he is rude, that's boyfriend material, guys!" You say that laughing, his face goes even redder. "Bonus points for the fact that he loves study dates, hint hint!" You say as you wink.
The next slide is pastel pink and filled with bubble gifs. "Next up is Ochaco Uraraka! Number one, she's bubbly and loving! She is so friendly and can make a friend out of anyone! Second, she is always excited and loves to go out! Lastly, she may be a bit of an airhead, no pun intended," You giggled, "but she is such a friendly person and she's so empathic." You look back at the class and Uraraka is smiling widely, "I feel honored to be on the list!" She says, you laugh and continue on.
The next slide has thunderbolts all over it, and in those, it spells out "Denki Kaminari". "Okay, so this one is Denki Kaminari! He is super funny and sweet for starters, so that makes him an awesome person to hang around with! Secondly, he tends to joke around a lot and be playful, so automatically he's goofy!" You exclaim, you hear Denki laughing and saying "how did they know!" You laugh and continue, "lastly, he may be a bit of an airhead but he cares for all of his friends. He is such a sweet guy."
You smile, "next is Eijrou Kirishima!" Kirishima laughs and watches the presentation. "He is manly and a gentleman! He knows how to treat you right that's for sure!" Eijrou smiles, "Second, he is super loyal! I mean look at him, he's funny and can make friends with everyone he meets! Lastly, he's kind-hearted! He's super sweet and he is amazing to be around! I'm glad to call him my friend!" You say with a big smile. "Plus, his quirk can be useful in other activities if you know what I mean!" You say, winking. Everyone starts laughing, "nice one (y/n)!" Kirishima calls out to you.
"Next is Koji Koda! For one, he can teach you sign language! It may not seem like a lot, but it can be really useful to know! Second, he's kind-hearted as well! He's super sweet, he's shy but that doesn't stop him from being kind and a good friend. Lastly, he loves animals! Everyone loves an animal person, he's great with them and it's such a cute sight to see as well!" You pause before going on, you spot Koji, he's smiling and clapping. You smile and continue onto the next slide.
"Next up is Rikkido Sato! For starters, he loves to bake! And that's an amazing trait because imagine all of the desserts you can eat! Next is that he is sweet! Just like his desserts, he's super sweet and kind! Lastly, he's a very positive person! He has a good attitude about everything and it's adorable!" You smile, and Rikkido smiles at you.
A picture of Mezo Shoji and him with his friends, you included, shows up on the slide. "Next is Mezo Shoji! One, he's super protective of his friends! It shows how much he cares and loves his friends. Two, he is kind and can make friends with everyone. Thirdly, he is selfless. Which means he's willing to risk his life for any of his friends." Shoji smiles, "thank you (y/n)."
"Next is Kyoka Jiro! She is usually very social, except for when Denki bothers her." You laugh and Kyoka laughs as well, and nods "that's true honestly." You continue on, "second, she has great taste in music! She has a mixture of different bands she listens to, and then she'll even try some new ones for you! Thirdly, she can play different instruments! I find that amazing and she can even teach you how to play them!"
"Now we have Hanta Sero, he's very sociable and friendly! He is also quite funny and I have to say, he might be the funniest out of everyone in here!" Sero starts laughing, "you got that right!" You laugh and go on, "lastly, he's brave! He'll make sure to keep you safe and he's willing to step in for you."
"Now we have Fumikage Tokyami, he is protective of his friends! He will step in and make sure they're okay. Second, he has self-control. This may not seem like a big thing, he knows his limits and he can stay patient. Third and finally, he is very brave! Yes, he's shy but he's brave." Tokyami nods and watches the presentation.
A picture of Katy Perry's "Hot and Cold" shows up on the next slide, everyone giggles, and chuckles. "If you didn't guess from that, it's Shoto Todoroki! He is very calm and collected, he stays calm during stressful situations. He tends to care very much for his friends and values them very deeply, and lastly, he tends to put them first. He's grown a lot from when he first started, he's becoming more sociable!" You say, Shoto slightly smiles and nods. "Plus he makes a great heating pad and an ice pack if you need it!" You say laughing, others join in.
"Next we have our favorite invisible girl, Toru Hagakure! For one, she's super bubbly and overall a very positive person! Second, she likes to collect plushies and other cute things, so that means you'll have a shopping buddy! You have to invite me at some point girl!" You say, she laughs, "for sure (y/n)!" You look back up at the screen, "then finally, she can easily make friends and super sociable! She's such a sweet person!"
You laugh and change the slide, "now the one and only, angry pomeranian, Katsuki Bakugou!" Katsuki frowns, "hey dumbass that's not funny!" You laugh and continue, "yes he is very hot-headed, but he is protective over his friends. Second, he is very determined to do good, he'll push you just because he wants to see you achieve your goals. Lastly, he may have pride but he does have his sweet moments. I've only gotten to experience them every now and then but he truly is a good friend, angry or not." You say with a smile, everyone starts going "aww" and Katsuki's face goes beet red. "I- Thanks dumbass." He says quietly.
"Now onto our favorite broccoli boy, Izuku Midoriya!" You exclaim, "first off, he's super sweet! Like just look at him!" You say pointing to Izuku, he blushes and smiles. "Second, if there's anything you want to know about heroes, that's the man to go to! And lastly, he cares for his friends so much. He loves them and will do anything for them, he honestly just wants the best for them." Izuku smiles, "plus if you ever want some cute dates, that's who you go to!" You exclaim.
You frown as you move onto the next slide, "okay so Mr. Grape Pervert, or known as Minoru Mineta. " You clear your throat with the *ahem* sound, "there's nothing good about him so next!" Minoru frowns as everyone laughs.
You smile, "and our last slide is about Momo Yaoyorozu! She is a natural leader, so definitely determined and focused! She encourages you and helps you out, she wants you to be the best you can be! And finally, she is a really great person. She's an amazing friend and always wants the best for you!" Momo smiles, "thank you (y/n)!" You smile and close your computer. "This was my presentation on why you should date the students of class 1-A. I really hope you did enjoy it! I meant it, you all, besides Mineta, are wonderful people. I'm so glad to have you as friends." You say, smiling.
I hope you enjoyed it! This took FOREVER!
I hope you have a great day!

[ - 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒
𝐂𝐇 𝟎𝟓 - Loud Laughs
𝐒𝐘𝐍𝐎𝐏𝐒𝐈𝐒: Y/n, a 22 year old successful model is tired of the tabloids shaming her about her dating status when she’s seen out with her friends. Unsure of what to do to stop the gossip, Oikawa suggests a fake boyfriend. Fortunately, Kenma knows the perfect person who’d go for an idea as stupid as that one.
𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 … 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 … 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭
“You’re being stupid,” you whisper to your reflection, watching your hands shake from nerves.
It’s stupid to be so nervous after spending almost the entire day with Kuroo yesterday and feeling so relaxed. Is it because you’re going to be one on one with him? Kenma was there yesterday, easing most of the tension if there was any. A soft sigh left your lips as you walked away going to your bedroom, deciding to at least be in a comfortable spot for this phone call.
He didn’t have to call; you mull over as you lie down. You don’t call to talk to your friends about their day often unless it’s a bad one. He’s probably nicer and calls his friends. A smile finds its way to your lips upon thinking that maybe he’s only nice like this with you. You wipe that away quickly, shrugging the thought off and dismissing it. He is just a friend, and you have no business getting into anything like that, anyway.
The phone vibrating against the soft comforter interrupts your train of thought. Swallowing the lump of nervousness, you pick it up and accept the call.
“Hello,” you start, voice laced with a thin veil of nervousness.
“Hey,” Kuroo’s voice sounds deeper on the phone, but he sounds relaxed, tired even.
It took his voice to wash over you for you to relax. Reminding yourself that no, it wasn’t Kenma that made you feel so comfortable, but Kuroo who made you feel relaxed. Any nervousness went out the window when he almost snorted Sprite out his nostrils.
“How was work? You sound tired,” you comment, smiling as he chuckles; laying back against the mattress.
“God, it was good but tiring. I want to hear about your work instead,” he asks, making you hum out faintly as you look over your nails.
“There isn’t a lot to it, really. I have a gig tomorrow, which consists of taking pictures and following pose guidelines. The rest of it is maintaining brand deals or updating my portfolio, auditions, socializing with fans, always looking marketable pretty much,” you conclude. A thoughtful hum fills your ear from the other side.
“Does the drama prevent you from appearing marketable?” Kuroo asks, and you can’t help but note the genuine curiosity in his tone.
It’s not like no one has taken an interest in your profession, but it is the first time someone’s cared enough to ask questions. Or appear genuinely interested besides seeing you model or asking if any other models are single. It’s pleasurable to have someone ask you about the in’s and out’s of your job.
“Not really? It is embarrassing when people I work with are dragged into it, but they understand, it’s not their first rodeo with a model. It’s a personal annoyance above anything else,” you mumble, sighing out quietly but feel a small smile returning once his warm laugh fills the microphone.
“Why are you laughing?” your smile turned into a laugh as you ask.
“I just got the mental image of a rumor about you and Kenma dating,” his laughs wheeze as they break up his sentence.
You already know he has a loud laugh that people could perceive as obnoxious, but his laugh only encouraged your own. It’s nice to laugh alongside him, plus he says nothing about your own loud laugh. He couldn’t say anything really, he sounded a little demonic if it was a laugh from the gut you’ve noticed.
“Oh my god, he’d stop being my friend for sure,” You laugh alongside him.
Your laughter continues for a few more moments, but when it quiets down, it isn’t awkward on either end. Your stifled laughter fills the call with little small giggles as you go back and forth telling one another to cut it out. Your laugh makes him laugh, you’ve noticed. When his laugh cools down, and you laugh, his laughter starts right back up again.
It took you both a few extra minutes to get yourselves together, but eventually, the stifled laughter turned into silence. A comfortable silence, and finally, Kuroo clears his throat with a relieved sigh.
“I thought my stomach was going to fall out from how funny that was,” He comments, making you giggle softly.
“Kenma’s hilarious, that’d be a funny situation for him. How long have you guys been friends?” You ask since Kenma didn’t tell you much besides playing volleyball back in high school.
“Since middle school. I didn’t really leave him alone, but he’s the person I can count on for anything. Hopefully, he knows it’s the same in return,” Kuroo mumbles, and you can hear the smile in his voice.
You’re nodding along, forgetting he can’t see you, which makes your hand slap across your forehead; a small wince spreading across your face.
“I can’t believe we haven’t been introduced,” you smoothly deliver, but you can hear the faint chuckle on the other line when the slap reverberates through the microphone. If he heard it, he won’t say anything.
“He’s a private guy, I didn’t even know he was friends with you. Bokuto almost passed out since you’re his favorite model,” Kuroo chuckles out, making you laugh softly.
“Atsumu is on his team, I can’t believe he didn’t tell Bokuto we were friends either. I’d like to meet your friends sometime,” your voice comes out hopeful, a hum of agreement emits.
“You can meet them anytime. How about your friends? I need details on Kenma’s secret life,” Kuroo’s voice raises out of intrigue, making you playfully roll your eyes with a growing smile.
“I met Kenma by tweeting that I really liked his stream, and he thanked me for the support, and I guess I grew on him. Tendou I’ve known since we were kids, our moms are friends, he’s that friend you can make peace signs with and cry taking selfies,” Kuroo’s laughter makes you pause, a faint flutter of your heart has you skipping a beat, “Oikawa and I met at a networking event. His agent wanted him to model my agent was trying to market me, and we both ended up meeting and hitting it off. Atsumu actually slid into my DMs to ask me on a date, I rejected him but we became great friends,” you finish, smiling at his faint laughter.
“I admire the guy for staying your friend after being rejected. They sound cool, I’d like to meet Kenma’s double life friends. He’s like Hannah Montana, I feel like Lily when she found out,” he sounds remorseful, voice wavering to not laugh at his own joke, but thankfully your laugh covered it.
“You can meet Kenma’s secret organization of friends. They’re all amazing, I just have to give Atsumu a stern talking-to since he can be an asshole sometimes,” you mention, voice soft.
“Protective asshole or just an asshole? He can’t be as bad as Kenma,” Kuroo jokes, it doesn’t fall flat on you.
“Protective. He’s smelly, but he’s one of my most cherished friends,” your voice is soft still, Kuroo matches it.
“I know we called to talk about our day, but I’m glad Kenma introduced me to you. Talking to you is relaxing,” he pauses, you feel your cheeks heat, “it was crazy in the office today so you took the edge off if that makes much sense,” he finishes.
“It makes sense, I’m glad Kenma introduced me to you too,” you agree.
“Awesome, talking to you saves me time from listening to Boyfriend by Big Time Rush for some stress relief,” he sighs out, as if genuinely relieved.
You didn’t know, but he grins on the other side of the phone upon hearing your loud laugh.
𝐟𝐮𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭: Kuroo told Y/n one chemistry joke, don’t believe atoms they make up everything, and she did laugh.
𝐚/𝐧: Greetings!! So this was a fun write, don’t be shy send me asks and let me know your thoughts! I love reading all your comments it’s so fun thank you guys for reading!!

So, with Monster Hunter’s anniversary comming up I would like to have a word about all these ups and downs and why I will always keep MH as a game very close to my heart, have a Devil Pickle Joe I did for school work.
So, these days, or rather, past year, has been crazy. Not only over the pandemy but also over a personal situation which I won’t really get into much details but it’s kind of part to why I’m writting this too. I started Monster Hunter with Monster Hunter 3 for Wii and, oh boy! Didn’t I love it! I found graphics crazy for these times, but this was not what called my attention the most, what did was that HUGE CROCODILE-LIKE Lapras-Pikachu bastard baby, Lagiacrus! I basically went blind into Monster Hunter, I didn’t know what to expect, only that I wanted to see giant creatures (I was a kiddie, alright?), and I wans’t let down, I got a handful of big creatures, but on top of that, I got to see all that awesome fantasy ecology! Maybe I won’t catalogue myself as a bio-science nerd although I do LOVE it, it is one of my favourite subjects! And with each monster I faced I wanted to just learn more and more about it and how they played a role in their ecosystems. The game seemed just perfect for me, it mixed my love for videogames with my love for biology (not to mention other things like fantasy), through the years that love just became deeper and so my love for Monster Hunter, I never once questioned it until I ended up in few toxic friendships. I won’t get into details as what happened there, but I will do tell you that they made me feel awful, and between these awful feelings was the feeling of “Nothing that you like is important, that game is not important and neither are you; it is boring and if you keep acting like a nerd everyone will end up leaving you”. Welp, more like a feeling, they straight out said it, but it did get to me, y’know? So I only went from feeling bad to feeling worst! I’m ashamed to say that I dropped it for a little, but then came to the realization that, this game, the game they so called “not important”, made me feel way better of what they would ever do in YEARS. So I picked it back up, I went back to my MH3 roots, and guess what? It did make me feel better. Playing again as a random hunter just arriving to Moga village, having these townsfolks genuinely care about you, give you spirits, support you, wishing for your safe comeback... It made me question if they were really friends to start with. A friend won’t judge and diss you over “being too smart” or over your inner scientist popping out when you enjoyed such things, they would encourage you and be happy that you enjoy these things. These relationships ended thanks Ceadeus, not over the fact of either if I liked these things or not, just to clarify, they did over other more effed up reasons that I won’t explain since they are hard to talk about even nowadays, but through the process of each, Monster Hunter and certain other game about a rat gave me determination to just don’t let them keep using me as how they pleased, to don’t allow them to keep making me feel bad over what made me MYSELF. My interests mattered, I mattered, that they didn’t want me “finding out more than what I should” (they using me as their scapegoat and/or lab rat), was a totally different thing. They didn’t want me to look too much into their “behaviour” (question why they treated me that way), they didn’t want me to “finish the quest” (end the pain they were causing me), they didn’t want me to ”Hunt down the monster” they were (discovering how rotten their intentions were), and finally getting my happy ending, away from them, away from the constant pain they purposely evoked upon me, but I gave my best to archieve it and here I am, finally wishing to talk about my interest to proove myself that I didn’t do wrong being my own being and not the obedient plaything they wanted, and loving the game MORE than ever.
So thanks for all these years of existing to Monster Hunter! 15 beautiful years of fantasy biology and awakening the scientist inside people, insiting us to observe and then act, of reminding us that we are not better than nature, we are part of it, that all living creatures deserve respect. Thanks you for all that and all the happy moments the game has brought and bringing wonderful hunters together! And thanks to you for reading my ramble, too!
Happy Hunting! See you all in Rise!

Lets Talk About Mimebomb
I used two images here because both are priceless and I didn’t know which I wanted to use more. Let me start with Mimebomb, using the Carmen Sandiego Wiki to break them (mimebomb is non binary fight me) down as a whole, starting with appearance and personality (Excluding the comments around his action in the show, please bear with me once more as I do this).
Mime Bomb is a thin, red-haired young man (*Cough*) who looks like a stereotypical mime. He (*They*) wears a grey and black striped shirt, black beret, white gloves, black spandex and black shoes. His (*Their*) makeup consists of white face paint, black face paint around the eyes and on the brows, and a light red shade of lipstick.
So I wanna talk about Mimebomb without their makeup first. We see that they are not meant to be an attractive character, and I appreciate that Carmen Sandiego created characters like that. But I digress, red headed males are stereotypically either super hot or super not. And they really tried to go with super not. But failed because I love them anyway and so does most of the fandom. Now, the mime get up is a very strange choice to me, seeing as people are more scared of clowns than global warming, and mimes are very similar to clown, but I don’t think it’s a fear tactic. But more of a ‘hey even Mimes can be cool yall’.
For personality we do not have a lot to go on as some of the other but we still have SOMETHING, I was forced to reference the books for this so please, if you have no read “Clue by Clue”, check it out.
Mime Bomb has been described as quiet by El Topo and weird by Tigress. Mime Bomb is seen as an opportunist, immediately tattling to V.I.L.E Faculty when witnessing Carmen stowing away on the graduate mission during her holdover year, and secretly hiding a rare stamp in Detective Chase Devineaux's coat when he was on to him. In the Clue by Clue novel, Mime Bomb is said to be skilled in symbiology and cryptanalysis according to Professor Maelstrom. He is also prone to avoiding fights or physical contact when possible. When fighting Sheena in the Who in the World is Carmen Sandiego novel, she easily beats him while he is distracted. When offered a helping hand to his feet by Black Sheep, he declines with a shrug and silent nod. In Clue by Clue, when Le Chèvre and Tigress are fighting Carmen, he stands off in the sidelines and shadowboxes rather than assisting.
Now, let us begin on what I have brought to the table.
Mime Bomb is seen as an opportunist
I have to begin by defining the term ‘Opportunistic’ using the Webster's Dictionary, Opportunistic meaning “exploiting chances offered by immediate circumstances without reference to a general plan or moral principle”. And dumbing it down for myself “They take what is best for theirself rather than the people around them.” Right, so. Mimebomb being opportunistic is CANON and shown MANY times. I will draw your attention to every time Mimebomb has turned Carmen or who ever into the Faculty for not following the rules. I would have loved to stated that this is a ‘teacher pet’ thing but I was surprised when I realized it wasn’t. The Faculty really doesn’t like Mimebomb and are very sarcastic towards them, constantly underestimating them and using them as the butt of the joke! And yet we see them completing missions successfully and with finesse, other messing up the mission they set up so carefully and thoughtfully.
Mime Bomb is said to be skilled in symbology and cryptanalysis
Cryptanalysis is the art or process of deciphering coded messages without being told the key. While Symbology is the study or use of symbols. This is very telling. Mimebomb studying codes and symbols can allude to selective mutism or even mutism. Personally, I prefer the former, Selective mutism is a childhood disorder in which a child does not speak in some social situations although he or she is able to talk normally at other times. And this can form in adults too. But the implications that they let if form how they preformed in school/college? Amazing, they made a choice and stuck to it for SUCH a LONG time. That commitment is amazing. This is also useful to more historical based mission or where it may lead into hieroglyph or other symbols. I’m willing to wager that these talents are why DOCTOR BELLUM brought Mimebomb on the hunt for an artifact. Because they would know some of the writing and symbols.
He is also prone to avoiding fights or physical contact when possible
Mimebomb being physically weak is not an accidental detail. Far from it! I think addressing that a male character who is more brains than brawn is a detail that needs to be pushed, and as off as Mimebomb is, they are the perfect example of this. They are not masculine and are easily taken down by Young Blacksheep, Chase, and other characters. Mind you it’s halariauous but PLEASE- You are KILLING their JOINTS. I have a feeling the avoiding physical contact is a very... Self protecting action that I feel would have to be more touched on in a headcanon post rather than an analysis post. The best I can come up with is the speculation that Mimebomb refuses to let people become close to them.
When offered a helping hand to his feet by Black Sheep, he declines with a shrug and silent nod
This, this the most telling thing EVER. Mimebomb refuses a helping hand. They do not work well with others and when they are offered help, the refuse it. They have a self serving bias. A self-serving bias is any cognitive or perceptual process that is distorted by the need to maintain and enhance self-esteem, or the tendency to perceive oneself in an overly favorable manner. It is the belief that individuals tend to ascribe success to their own abilities and efforts, but ascribe failure to external factors. When individuals reject the validity of negative feedback, focus on their strengths and achievements but overlook their faults and failures, or take more credit for their group's work than they give to other members, they are protecting their ego from threat and injury. Mimebomb protects themself at all cost, and that makes me wonder, why? Because they know that they can’t accept others help or their comforts. And they are fine with it. They are okay with being alone.
he stands off in the sidelines and shadowboxes rather than assisting.
I feel like this was originally supposed to be a one off joke rather than an actual trait or habit. But... If you know me by now, I can twist this on it’s head so fast, it’s not even funny. But I can’t here, I can’t except maybe they do this to encourage others? I think when they do work in a team, they do try their best to support who they are working with unless its an annoying slime ball like Neal the Eel (Not hating on Slimebomb, I just noticed they work better as comical enemies rather than a relationship, and i love that)
Now, there was no abilities category in the wiki, and I found this interesting, so i drew from the Trivia section of the page and found out... A lot really, that is interesting. But only one of them made and impression on me and it’s the one I want to focus on for a paragraph or two.
Mime Bomb is actually classified by A.C.M.E. as insane; given he is locked up with Maelstrom in a loony bin. considering he NEVER speaks (by choice), makes sense.
I’m going to take a second to define the term “Insane” using “Wikipedia” rather than a dictionary. “ Insanity, madness, and craziness are terms that describe a spectrum of individual and group behaviors that are characterized by certain abnormal mental or behavioral patterns.” Hmm....What abnormal pattern are we looking at here. Selective Mutism. The mime outfit doesn’t help. I’ll make note that the official wiki says it’s choice that Mimebomb doesn’t speak, but doesn’t give us a reason why, speculation and theories are in store here and I will reference my V.I.L.E Operative headcanons.
In the end, Mimebomb was and still is one of my favorite characters in the whole freaking show. I enjoyed ever second of them on screen, every caper and ever wacky highjinx. I’d watch the whole show again just to see them being the awesome character they are. As usual, requests are open and please! I love when requests come in! Stay tuned for the next one y’all!!

Pronouns used: They/them Length: 4.9k words
Summary: Everyone in the world has a soulmate and Tamaki Amajiki is no different. The thing is, he’s terrified to meet or talk to his soulmate because he’s scared they could a villain. That is... until he’s finally able to talk to you.
Full Name: (y/f/n) Quirk: (y/q) Age: 18
Every single person in the world has a soulmate. A predetermined pair, courtesy of the universe. Soulmates had a link, a way to communicate with each other. At the age of 18, anything someone wrote on their body would appear on their soulmate’s body, in the exact same spot.
Tamaki Amajiki knew he had a soulmate, someone bound to him for life. He just couldn’t believe that could be the case. Fated pairs were a scary thing due to the limited amount of knowledge surrounding the concept. No one knew why this weird ability existed, no one knew how these pairs were determined, and whether or not there was a person doing this.
Tamaki always feared who his soulmate would be. One of the main fears was if they’d be a villain. What would he do? Every single fated pair fell in love the second they saw each other. What if Tamaki’s other half was a villain? How could he, a hero, fall in love with the enemy?
As his 18th birthday drew closer, Tamaki felt panic and anxiety rather than excitement. Both Mirio and Nejire did their best to convince him his other half wouldn’t be a villain, but how could they be so sure?
“Come on, Tamaki, it’ll be ok!” Mirio smiled. “I highly doubt your soulmate could be a villain! I bet they’re someone awesome with an amazing quirk!”
“Mirio… you’re too loud.” Tamaki muttered, stuffing his face into his arms that laid on his desk. His 18th birthday was just a few days away and then he’d have to face his soulmate.
“Oh hey, you could be worrying for no reason,” Nejire suggested, her legs swinging back and forth on the desk. “Maybe they’re only 16 or 17. You wouldn’t be able to talk to them then.”
“Huh,” Mirio said, “I didn’t even think about that. She’s got a good point.”
“What if they are over 18?” Tamaki argued, turning his head up toward them. “What if they’re like 20?”
“Well…” Nejire giggled sheepishly. “Then you’ll be talking to them! Imagine, Amajiki! What if they’re some awesome celebrity!”
“Or a super cool hero? Maybe from another country?” Mirio added. Tamaki tried his best to let them ease his worries, but no one could drown out that little voice in the back of his head. This was all speculation. They could be wrong.
***
Tamaki sighed as he looked at the clock on his nightstand. 11:43 pm on March 3rd. 17 minutes until he turned 18. He already had his pen ready and he’d decided where he’d write his little message. His mind was in a flurry of emotions, he wasn’t sure if he was excited or not. Well, he was, to an extent, but he was also scared- no, terrified.
What if they didn’t like him? What if his shyness and anxiety was too much for them? What about him? What if they were loud and mean like that Bakugou fellow? What if they were blunt and less understanding of his anxiety? He couldn’t handle that! There’s no way.
11:53 pm.
Mirio and Nejire had offered to stay with him but he declined, wanting to be alone. Both of them reminded him multiple times that they would be completely ok with him coming to their rooms for any reason.
11:54 pm.
Tamaki’s hands rubbed his cheeks as he tried his best to calm down. His eyes kept returning to his little clock and it almost felt as if time was moving slower. His desperate need to talk to his love equally matched his need to run and hide from them, which didn’t even make sense!
“Coward…” He mumbled to himself as he fell back on his bed. His indigo eyes stared up at the ceiling and for once, he attempted to think positive thoughts about his fated lover, or at least, force himself to.
They could be like Mirio, a bright ball of sun who would be there to support him, always encouraging him no matter what the situation. Someone who would wrap their arms around him and whisper comforting words in his ears during his panic attacks or just when the world got too much to handle. Someone who could love someone like him unconditionally.
Tamaki jumped slightly when his phone rang, indicating he’d gotten a text. He picked it up and stared at it. He’d gotten 2 texts, one from Mirio and another from Nejire. Both of them said “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” with a million emojis. Right as Tamaki was about to respond, he felt his blood run cold, numbing him as the realization of what would occur now filled him.
18. He was 18 now. Shakily, Tamaki grabbed his pen and gingerly pulled back his sleeve, finding the perfect spot to write his greeting.
Hello
Tamaki waited patiently for a reply. He thanked both Mirio and Nejire, who wanted to know if his soulmate responded, to which he said no.
Five minutes went by, then ten, then 20. But he received no response. Tamaki frowned, falling on the bed again. Shouldn’t he be happy? He didn’t want to talk to his soulmate. He was too scared to face them. That wasn’t true, deep down, Tamaki was desperate to talk to his soulmate. He needed to talk to them, to know exactly who they were. Guess that wasn’t happening tonight.
Without saying much to his friends, Tamaki turned off his lights and tried to sleep. He stared into the darkness, that dreadful feeling building up in the pit of his stomach. The feeling was overwhelming, especially when he came to the realization that he’d need to wait longer for the identity of his lifelong partner. It made him feel trapped and none of these overpowering emotions helped the tears that slid down his cheeks that night. What a great way to start his birthday.
***
Tamaki’s indigo eyes fluttered open, slowly adjusting to the brightness in his room. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, looking at the clock next to him. 6:32 am. He quickly got up and went to the bathroom to get ready for school.
Tamaki quickly took a shower and brushed his teeth. As he walked out to his room, he took off his shirt, walking to his closet to grab his uniform. He froze when he saw his wrist.
Happy birthday, love
They… responded!? Tamaki scrambled to find his pen, cursing when he failed to. He grabbed his backpack, quickly fishing out a pen and wrote his message underneath.
Good morning
Tamaki impatiently waited, hoping he’d be able to talk to his soulmate right now. He felt an odd tingling sensation on his wrist as he watched the letters slowly appear.
Good morning! How did you sleep?
Tamaki sat on his bed, shakily writing out his response.
Good, you? And thank you
I slept well! Sorry I responded late; I was a little busy! I’m so happy I finally get to talk you <3
How old are you? Did you wait long?
I turned 18 on (birthday)! Gosh, I was so nervous! What’s your name?
Tamaki debated whether he wanted to reveal his identity. What if they were a villain? It… didn’t matter. Tamaki felt something weird in his chest. He felt comfortable and happy now that he’d been able to talk to them. That anxious feeling he had was no longer there, almost as if it never was.
Tamaki Amajiki. Yours?
(Y/f/n)! That’s a super cute name
Tamaki’s face turned red at the compliment as their name swirled around in his head. (F/n). It was cute. He really liked it.
“(F/n)... it’s nice to meet you.”
**
“No way! Let me see!” Nejire said, yanking Tamaki’s arm.
“H-Hado! W-wait!” She pouted as he held his arm close to his chest. He unbuttoned his jacket and slid it off, letting his arm sit on the desk. Both Nejire and Mirio leaned in to read what they’d said.
“Wow! I’m so happy for you Tamaki!” Mirio smiled. “When do you plan to meet (f/n)?” Tamaki looked away. Wait… meeting already? Hold on! No one said anything about meeting anybody!
You’re still in school, right? What school do you go to?
Nejire read the message aloud before handing Tamaki a purple pen, which he thanked her for and wrote out his response.
I go to UA
No way! That’s awesome! Congrats on getting in! What course?
Hero
Omg! Omg! Omg! My soulmate’s a hero!!!!!
Both Nejire and Mirio chuckled at their response while Tamaki’s face turned a bright red. He immediately stood in front of a wall, holding his wrist against his chest.
“Guess they’re not a villain after all.” Nejire giggled. Sure, (f/n) could be lying to them and pretending to be an innocent civilian… but it felt different. Before, when Tamaki thought about his soulmate, he was so hesitant, confused, and uneasy. But now, a simple thought of his soulmate… and all those thoughts of uncertainty were put to rest. He wasn’t scared, he wasn’t uncomfortable, he wasn’t uneasy. He was content and relieved.
Tamaki felt his wrist tingle again, making his eyes move to the writing. He noticed how… adorable their writing was. The way the E’s curved, the way they wrote their T’s, the way some letters were connected and others weren’t.
You’re not in hero school? Tamaki wrote down, his head still against the cold wall.
‘Not really. My quirk’s (y/q), it’s not the worst with fighting villains, but I just don’t think I have it in me to be a hero’ After the words appeared on his skin, he watched as the others started to disappear. They must’ve been washing their arm to make more room for more writing.
“D-Do you g-guys have a wi-wipe?” Tamaki asked, turning to them. Nejire smiled, grabbing her back.
“Need to clean off the writing?” She asked, reaching into her bag. As she handed him a small wipe, Tamaki quietly thanked her, applying it to his arm. He cleared off most of the writing, while some remained as illegible smudges. “Here, keep it.” Nejire smiled, holding out the entire pack.
“Thanks.”
‘That’s an interesting quirk, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of it.’
‘Wow, I surprised a hero! That’s a point for me.’ They quickly responded. ‘HEY! We should meet! I work at (workplace). You should totally come by! ‘ Tamaki’s anxiety spiked at the thought of meeting his soulmate. That calm, serene feeling fled almost immediately and he clenched his fists. No way. That was too much!
‘Maybe’ he responded, pulling his sleeve down, not bothering to see his soulmate’s reply. He felt the tingling, but ignored it, returning to his seat when the teacher came in. Tamaki felt awful, but there was no way he could meet his soulmate, just the thought of it was too much to handle.
Throughout the class period, Tamaki felt his arm tingle a couple of times, but he didn’t look to see what his soulmate wrote. He couldn’t.
**
“I’ll look for you, if you want!” Nejire chirped, while munching on her apple. All morning, Tamaki had ignored his soulmate in fear of seeing their response, however, at the same time he was desperate to see what they said.
“O-ok.” He said, holding his arm out. Nejire gently rolled his sleeve up and smiled at the response.
“Look, Amajiki!” He looked down at his arm, his indigo eyes widening a bit at the letters sprawled on his wrist.
‘Oh! I understand, it’s too much! We can wait!’
‘Why aren’t you responding?’
‘Are you upset?’
‘Oh! Duh! You have class! Have a good day, love’ Tamaki immediately searched for a pen, which was halted when Mirio held one out of him.
“Here.” He smiled.
“Thanks.” Tamaki took the cap off and began to write out his reply.
‘Yes, I’m sorry. I had class. Thanks for understanding.’
‘No problem, love!’
“I think it’s adorable how (l/n) keeps calling you love!” Nejire said, dreamily. She placed her hands on her cheeks and looked away. “How romantic!” Tamaki’s ears turned red and he covered his face.
“C-c-calm d-down!” However, he couldn’t help the smile that took over his lips at the thought of his soulmate. They were already understanding and caring. He wondered why he was so worried in the first place.
~**~
It had been a little over a month since (f/n) had started talking with their soulmate. They were a bit upset that he still didn’t want to meet up. Of course, they were willing to give him as much time as he needed, but it still hurt. Was there something wrong with them? Was Tamaki unhappy with his soulmate not being a hero? Probably, he was training to be one, so he’d need someone of his caliber standing at his side.
(f/n) frowned, sitting on the dinner table with their family. They were quiet throughout the entire dinner, staring at their clean arm. Tamaki was busy today, so they hadn’t been able to talk at all. (f/n) missed him. A lot more than they thought was possible.
“So, how are you and your soulmate getting along?” (m/n) asked, making (f/n) look up and smile.
“Good, we’re doing good.”
“Do you planning on meeting?” (d/n). (f/n) looked down at the plate of food in front of them at the question. Were they? So far, (f/n) was sure they weren’t.
“I… no.” (f/n) answered, taking a bite of their food.
“Why not?” (m/n) inquired, taking a sip of their drink. (f/n) shrugged, unsure of how to explain their situation.
“He’s got anxiety, so I think it’s just too difficult for him to meet me. I… I’m ok with it. I’ll wait until he’s comfortable.”
“Do you guys know what each other look like? Do you still talk through your skin? Are you friends on social media?” (d/n) asked, looking over at the clearly upset (f/n).
“No, yes, no.” (f/n) answered rather bluntly. “He just needs time. Besides, he’s really busy. He’s a hero in training, you know.” (f/n) informed.
“Oh? That’s awesome! What’s his hero name?” (f/n) frowned at the question again.
“H-he was too shy to tell me.”
“He’s not lying is he?” (m/n) asked, genuinely concerned. “I don’t mean for that to sound rude or anything, but… I worry about you, love.”
“I trust him,” (f/n) said. “I… trust him.” Dinner didn’t last long. (f/n) wasn’t able to eat anything, so instead, they chose to eat at another time. They went upstairs to their room, where they grabbed their pen and wrote out a short message.
‘Hope your patrol is going well! Stay safe, love! ‘ Sighing, (f/n) sat at their desk and started working on their homework for (college course). It was a good distraction because about two and a half hours had passed and (f/n) was exhausted enough to go to bed. They quickly changed into their pjs and got into bed, taking another look at their arm. Nothing. Not a damn thing. (f/n) desperately tried to keep their emotions under control, not wanting to cry for no reason. Stupid emotions.
**
Tamaki abruptly stopped, placing a hand on his chest. He felt an inconsolable sorrow deep in his heart. He looked around, thinking it could be a villain’s quirk.
“What’s wrong, Suneater?” Fat Gum asked, looking back at him. Unable to really respond, he just looked up at his mentor, a frown on his face. “Suneater?”
~**~
(f/n) smiled at their coworkers as they walked into their workplace. Walking to the elevator, they took it to the third highest floor, which was the 23rd floor. They were greeted by their coworker as they stepped out of the elevator and went to their office to start the day.
For the first hour, everything was rather uneventful, (f/n) found themselves getting lost in their work, when they suddenly felt the building shake with such force, followed by a thunderous explosion. (f/n) frantically looked around, the atmosphere becoming tense as everyone looked at each other. Panic surged through the room, catching everyone off guard with a second explosion, another following right after, making the building shake once more.
“IT’S A VILLAIN ATTACK!” Someone yelled, causing fear to surge through them all. Everyone started to run towards the stairs in an attempt to get downstairs to get out of the building and far away from the scene.
(f/n) screamed as they were shoved down to the floor by the swarming crowd. There was another explosion, much closer to the room everyone was in. They pushed themselves to stand and try to escape, but as everyone ran across the large floor, it started to collapse. Slowly crumbling and falling apart, the group was separated, (f/n) being one of the few still stuck far away from the door. The remainder ran back towards the walls in an attempt to find some stable flooring.
The floor beneath (f/n) started to give in and break apart, they attempted to leap towards one of the more stable spots on the floor. But before they could even attempt to jump, they fell through.
“(L/N)!” Their friends screamed, trying to reach out and catch them, but they were too late. (f/n) shrieked as they fell through the floor. Unfortunately, the next two floors had also broken apart, which meant (f/n) was going to plummet at least twenty feet more! As a last ditch effort to save themselves, they quickly activated their quirk in an attempt to break their fall somehow.
(f/n) landed on a broken column but wasn’t able to grab onto anything, causing them to slip and fall onto a block of concrete, then roll and slam into the ground on their side. A loud groan escaped their lips as they pushed themselves to stand.
An intense pain shot through their spine, making them fall to their knees, with a yelp escaping their lips. Their head was spinning, they felt nauseous, and when looking down, they could see bruises already starting to form and splotches of blood leaking through their now dirty clothing.
“RUN! (F/N) YOU HAVE TO RUN!” (f/n) looked around, but the doors were blocked off with rubble.
“I-I c-can’t!” They yelled back. “I-I can’t…” (f/n) fell to the floor, leaning against a piece of concrete as pain shot throughout their battered body.
***
“Suneater! Let’s go!” Fat Gum yelled, interrupting Tamaki, whose mind was on his food. “There’s an attack nearby at (workplace)!” Tamaki’s heart sank as fear filled his being. His… soulmate was there. His (f/n) worked there! Without another word, Tamaki quickly followed Fat Gum and the others to the scene of the crime, determined to save his other half.
Fat Gum was right, (f/n)’s workplace was ten minutes away from where they were. When they got there, their eyes widened in horror. Multiple parts of the building were blown apart, smoke emitting from the destroyed sections. People had gathered outside, a distance away, making it difficult for the heroes to get through.
“There’s still people in there!” Someone yelled when they noted the multiple heroes behind the large group.
“Get out of here! Get away!” Fat Gum yelled, then looked down at Tamaki who grabbed his arm.
“M-My soulmate’s in there! I-I have to get them!”
“Where?”
“I don’t know.” Fat Gum could see the fear and panic swirling in Tamaki’s eyes and took him by the shoulders.
“It’s ok. Come on, let’s save them.”
***
“Uh… wh-what the hell…” (f/n) stuttered as loud cracking echoed through the room. “N-no way!” They looked around and saw more cracks appearing on the floor. Their eyes scanned the room in an attempt to find anything to grab onto or use to not fall through, but there was nothing. Everything was just rubble, the previous two ceilings had broken through, destroying everything in the room.
Still, unwilling to give up, (f/n) crawled to the corner of the room, hoping the floor would be a bit more stable there. The cracks got louder and louder, making tears spring to their eyes.
“I-I don’t kn-know what to do… Tamaki…” they whispered, “Help me. I’m scared.” Finally the floor collapsed, making everything around (f/n) start to fall apart, including the wall they leaned against. They stood up, pain shooting through their body as the floor broke once again. (f/n) quickly grabbed onto a large piece of concrete and held on tightly as it plummeted through the next floor. A scream escaped their lips as the concrete broke apart on impact. (f/n)’s body slammed onto the ground causing them to scream out even louder. After a few moments of not moving, they pushed themselves to sit up and looked around.
Movement had become impossible at this point, making them fall onto their back. Their glossy eyes stared up at the ceiling, tears sliding down the sides of their face as a sob escaped their lips.
“Dammit…” (f/n) mumbled and coughed due to all the dust around the room. The exits were still blocked, but this time there was a large window to the left. It didn’t matter much, (f/n) couldn’t move, no matter how much they willed their body. They weren’t made like heroes were, (f/n) couldn’t shrug off the hits their body had taken. “T-Tamaki… p-please fi-find me…”
(f/n) tilted their head to the side, in an attempt to find something, anything. How would they look with a hero as a soulmate, but they died without fighting. By pure, utter luck, they spotted a pen not too far away. Their eyes widened and they tried to stand, but the pain that shot through their body stopped them.
“N-No…” They mumbled as they rolled over onto their stomach, a scream erupting from their lips at the sheer, intense pain. (f/n) knew something was horribly wrong, but they didn’t even want to think about the injuries right now. Forcing themselves to crawl, they slowly- at the pace of a snail- inched towards the pen.
After a few minutes, they reached out and snatched the pen off the ground, tearing off the cap and immediately writing on their palm.
HELP
Tamaki felt the tingling sensation and his eyes shot down to his palm. He saw the message and grabbed Fat Gum’s arm.
“P-Pen! I-I need a pen!” He exclaimed, looking up at his mentor, who looked at him confused.
“I don’t have a pen, Suneater,” He looked at the other heroes. “Do you have a pen?!” They looked at him with a confused expression.
“No?!” One of them yelled back.
“I-I have a pen!” A civilian yelled, reaching into her purse. Tamaki ran to her, giving her a moment to find it. He took it from her, writing underneath it.
Where are you?
Not sure. Hurt. Help.
I can’t find you like that.
Near 20th floor, by large window
Tamaki’s heart clenched as (f/n) slowly wrote out their answer. Their writing was messy and short, a clear indication of their current situation. His indigo eyes shot to the top of the building, as he desperately tried to find their room. But before anyone could do anything, the building started creaking and leaning backwards.
“W-what?”
“THE BUILDING’S GONNA FALL! HAWKS!” Fat Gum screamed out as the said hero rapidly used his feathers to gather as many people as he could in the area he was currently. (f/n)’s eyes widened as they felt the building tilt, their body slid against the dirty floor, hitting the slab of concrete they had fallen with.
“He won’t get there in time…” Tamaki muttered, almost feeling wrong saying that of the fastest hero. “B-But I-I don’t know where they are.”
“Go!” Fat Gum commanded as he tried to help more civilians escape. “GO!” Large, feathery, white wings sprouted from Tamaki’s back and he quickly flew up to the 20th floor. His eyes quickly looked through all the windows and he was shocked at the debris he saw inside. Where was (f/n)?
The building started to fall and (f/n) closed their eyes, ready to accept their fate. They tried, they tried to contact Tamaki and no doubt he tried to find them. It just… wasn’t meant to be.
Tamaki darted in between all the window’s stopping when he saw a figure leaning against concrete, their back to him. The building was already falling and he had no way to get to (f/n). He used his tentacles, which immediately shattered the thick window between him and (f/n).
(f/n)’s eyes shot open and they turned their head, seeing large, purple objects shooting towards them. Their arms came up to protect their heads, but the large tentacles wrapped around their torso as their body slipped in between the gap of the shattered window.
Wide, terrified (e/c) eyes watched as the building fell and collapsed onto the ground below, tearing apart the road and the other buildings it landed on. The back of (f/n)’s hand landed on their mouth as tears spilled from their eyes. The damage was awful and frightening, but they felt relief wash over their body as arms wrapped around their torso.
“I got you.” They heard a deep male voice behind them. Tamaki quickly turned (f/n) so that he was able to hold them up in bridal style, wanting to make sure he wasn’t going to drop them. “You’re ok,” he soothed as he slowly moved towards the ground. “Everything’s ok. You’ll be just fine.” (f/n) was silent, their eyes landing on the hero saving them.
Suneater. That was Suneater, a student hero they’d seen plenty of times on the news. He was the shy type, he got easily embarrassed and scared when it came to cameras or big crowds.
“Suneater…” (f/n) whispered, making his eyes widen. He felt an odd sensation flow through him as his indigo eyes met their glossy (e/c) ones. He caught sight of something on their wrist... words?
No way.
“... (f-f/n)?”
“Tamaki?” His feet touched the ground and he immediately hugged (f/n) tightly, holding them close to him as his own nerves started to calm.
“I was so scared,” he said, his hands raking through their hair to calm them down. “I’m so glad you’re ok.” Their arms wrapped around his torso and they buried their face in his chest. They were silent for a moment, before (f/n) broke it.
“Y-You really smell like food.” His cheeks flushed red and he looked away, pointing to the pouches on his chest.
“Th-there’s f-food in here. For m-my quirk.”
“Right, manifest. It’s amazing… you’re amazing. Thank you for saving me, Suneater.” His cheeks were now a darker shade of red but he smiled regardless.
~**~
“Tama! Here!” (f/n) happily waved from the small booth they sat in. It had been a few days since the incident and they’d been meeting up pretty much every single day, whenever they had gotten the chance to. The day of the rescue, (f/n) spent at the hospital before Recovery Girl was brought in for healing most of the injured, including themselves. That day, Tamaki had visited them and had continued to meet up with them since.
Tamaki walked over to (f/n)’s booth and slid into the seat in front of them. (f/n) immediately reached out and took his hand, holding it tightly.
“How are you?” He asked.
“I’m good, feeling much better.” They responded, taking a sip of their favorite drink. “I missed you.”
“I m-missed you t-too.” He answered, getting shy again. Though the two hadn’t spent too much time together physically, they felt the natural attraction between them, thanks to that soulmate connection, but also the entire month they’d been communicating with each other. Their personalities melded well together and they felt an overwhelming amount of comfort by just being with each other.
Moments like that truly made Tamaki wonder why he was so scared to begin with. Sure, his fears of his partner being a villain were valid, plenty of heroes had to deal with that. However, he did feel a bit bad for judging (f/n) the way he had. He’d apologized a couple days back and they’d confirmed feeling the same way, which is one of the reasons why they were so happy to find out Tamaki was in the hero course.
“Wanna go on a date today? Like not here, but somewhere else.” He nodded, his large hand gently squeezing (f/n)’s.
“Sure. Wh-where?”
“Wherever you want. I just want to spend time with you.” Tamaki blushed at (f/n)’s statement, but he couldn’t help the smile that graced his soft features. Lifting their hand up, he pressed a gentle kiss on it.
“Anything for you, my love.” Now it was (f/n)’s turn to blush, he’d finally used the term of endearment they’d been using for him this whole time. Unable to handle it anymore, (f/n) moved to sit next to him, then pressed their lips against his warm and soft ones. Tamaki’s eyes widened and a violent blush spread to his cheeks, but he closed his eyes, melting against (f/n)’s touch. Their lips gently and slowly moved against each other and they were a perfect match, like two puzzle pieces.
Every single person in the world was bound to another through some magical, unknown force. A predetermined pair all thanks to the universe. No matter what anyone thought, no matter how much someone thinks they and their soulmate are incompatible, that just wasn’t the case. Their soulmate was theirs until the end of their time. Much like Tamaki and (f/n).

Michiru & Shirou Thoughts
Binge-watched BNA last night.
Overall, I enjoyed it. It was cute and fun to watch. Most of all, I really appreciated the development of Michiru and Shirou’s relationship, and I wanted to write a bit a lot (channeling the former English major in me) because I’m sad there isn’t more content about them, and clearly, the relationship is integral both the narrative and each character's growth. Contains spoilers for BNA.
I want to talk about their relationship in general, but I first want to address what I have perceived as the conventional interpretations of their relationship on the interwebz.
Shipping? Romance?
On one hand, I totally understand many people not seeing them romantically - there's not much explicit evidence for it in the show--no random blushing, no side characters teasing them about their feelings, no kisses or anything close. Indeed, I think anything like that in the show would feel uncharacteristic of both Michiru and Shirou as we know them, especially since they don’t really grow closer until 3/4 of the way through the series. And I also understand that Shirou not only looks older than Michiru, but also is technically a thousand years old and immortal regardless of how childish he may sometimes act, so for many people that’s not acceptable or appealing.
Certain scenes could be construed as having romantic undertones (rather than simply just showing they care for each other, which is pretty incontrovertible)--I’m thinking mostly when Shirou jumps off a building to rescue her in episode 3. While I think this can be also be explained as conveying his general heroism and concern for beastmen, rather than being romantic, I think the inclusion of it in the story and the heightened drama surrounding it adds to an element of romance (I’m reminded of Guts and Casca’s fall in Berserk). Similar things could be said about their confrontation in episode 11.
I also think it's not beyond the realm of possibility (i.e. fanfiction) for there to be romantic development between them down the line, especially with Michiru staying in Animacity, and I personally do ship them because of my personal tastes (the aloof guy with the cheerful girl trope is v appealing to me) and because I love the development of their understanding of one another (which I elaborate on below).
Daddy Shirou?
At the same time, I'm somewhat bewildered by the popular reading of their relationship as one between a father and daughter. I get that it could seem that way from the promotional material, and also that it's cute and maybe mostly a meme (in which case, sorry for taking it seriously), but I honestly think there's not much support in the show for that kind of dynamic in their interactions beyond superficial things, like Shirou being older that Michiru, often protecting her, and giving her food (which happens on-screen, like, once).
Not only that, I think this label feels unnatural because it undermines Michiru's roles in their relationship and makes her seem like someone Shirou needs to care for. Instead, I'd argue that so often (and more and more as the series goes on), Michiru serves as more of an equal to Shirou, and their relationship is one of mutual trust and respect.
This doesn't mean that there aren't obvious power imbalances in their relationship--again, Shirou being older and being a super powerful immortal god, him having close ties to the mayor and literally serving as Michiru's social worker at one point, as well as him generally being more savvy about beastmen and Animacity. Significantly, Michiru also just perceives Shirou as older--in episode 3, she refers to him as an "adult," and in episode 10 she calls him a “stubborn geezer,” suggesting that she recognizes his older age. In contrast, Michiru is apparently 18 and still has high school student vibes, and at the beginning of the series, she clearly is ignorant and naive about many aspects of beastmen life and Animacity.
Despite these things, I think Michiru has power in their relationship because she erodes the dogmatic assumptions that Shirou has about humans and beastmen. This happens as early as episode 2, when Shirou is adamant that it's impossible for Michiru to be a human because "Humans are humans. Beastmen are beastmen." (Indeed, Michiru turns out to be right about most of what she says to him in that scene--her condition is termed as a “disease” later in the series, and there is someone else like her--namely, Nazuna.)
Not only does Michiru have power in their relationship because of this, but Shirou also recognizes Michiru's independence and agency. In episode 4, when he learns that she has left Animacity, he says she can "do what she wants." When the mayor tells him to get retrieve Nina and Michiru, he ruffles his hair, clearly annoyed, suggesting he doesn't see her as his responsibility (beyond, of course, his general concern for beastman wellbeing). He even doesn't go to the party himself to get the girls, but rather asks Michiru to return Nina--and act of trust that Marie even comments on. They also clearly have no qualms about roasting each other, as evidenced at their interchange of insults at the end of the episode. Here, if anything, their relationship resembles bickering siblings more than a father and daughter.
Additionally, we see Michiru growing to be able to hold her own with Shirou in the action sequences. Indeed, Michiru begins to be able to actually help Shirou with the enemies they face as her knowledge of her beastman capacities, rather than just needing to be rescued. I’d say we first see this in episode 7, when Michiru sprouts wings that allow her to save the falling Shirou and also help him catch up with the airborne Pinga. Then we see Michiru stepping up to help Shirou take down the rampaging Yaba in episode 8. Not only does she play an integral role in subduing him--it’s her wings that allow him to be transported to a remote place (where Shirou can then go Ginrou-mode), but it’s also here that we see Shirou and Michiru’s partnership really start to kick off. I find their teamwork pretty endearing, as they grow to trust one another--Michiru challenges Shirou’s independence and forces him to rely on her, and Shirou actually allows her to help and gives her directions. This doesn’t mean that Michiru unquestioningly accepts Shirou’s orders (for example, she pushes back when he tells her to drop them in the warehouse), but it’s clear that even when she doesn’t always agree with him, she’s willing to trust him.
Indeed, rather than their relationship being one of great power difference, I think they actually grow to have a pretty balanced amount of power in their interactions with one another (as much power as is possible given the aforementioned situational differences between them). Just as Michiru challenges Shirou’s conception of humans and the rigidity of the division between the two races, Michiru also recognizes her own lack of understanding about Shirou and of beastmen. More than that, he makes her aware of her own prejudices about him (just as he challenges his prejudices).
Really, I’d say episode 9 is probably the strongest case for their relationship being something like a father-daughter relationship, but I think the dynamic is ultimately subverted. Shirou comes in with food for Michiru to lift her spirits (classic Asian parenting) while telling her not to go near certain places. Probably the most paternal we’ve seen him. Yet her response to the food she gets is not one of simple gratitude or even ingratitude toward a caregiver, but one that shows she is learning more about him and is willing to tease him (“I was thinking how a thousand year old person is so different.”) And also, because Michiru is her own person, she defies the restrictions he lays out--not out of rebellion against him, but out of her own friendship with Nazuna. Evidently, even when Shirou tries to guide Michiru in a father-like way, she responds in a way that subverts that dynamic.
Mutual Respect & Understanding (aka in which I gush about them)
Instead of a father-daughter relationship, Shirou and Michiru grow to have a relationship founded on respect for one another and a burgeoning understanding of each other’s differences. They care for and encourage one another and help each other grow, and I think that’s awesome regardless of whether or not you have hope for a romance between them.
I love how Michiru, whom Nazuna accuses of rushing into things based on her assumptions and an egocentric sense of justice, humbly recognizes not just her lack of knowledge about Shirou after learning his divine identity, but also the lack of effort she put into trying to know him. Not only that, but in episode 12, she is able to recognize Shirou as one who is “so sad and miserable, but still thinking about others,” rather than the offputting scary crying wolfman she met in the first episode. She knows that there are fundamental differences between her as a human and him as a beastman (in contrast to Nazuna, who says in episode 11 that “Humans and beastmen aren’t all that different”), but she is nonetheless able to understand him. She literally transforms into a wolf in order to track him down, using the acute sense of smell that is his trademark.
I love how she grows to understand why he turned into Ginrou during the festival. I love how, when she confronts him in episode 11, she starts with an apology for not understanding his feelings about the vaccine, when she should be the one to understand him most. I think basic but important things like these, like apologizing for not paying more attention to how someone else is feeling, is one of the reasons why I really appreciate Michiru as a character.
Likewise, Shirou learns to humble himself and trust someone else, as well as better understands a human. I love how he eventually just accepts that Michiru will want to help him when he goes off to fight. I love how he apologizes himself when Michiru confronts him in episode 11, and how he explains his intentions to her without holding anything back. I love how he thanks her for saving him from the Nirvasyl syndrome, how he chooses not to kill Alan when reminded of how Michiru does not like killing, how he encouragingly says that she can return to her human form soon (even if that means her leaving Animacity, which it’s implied would sadden him). Even his overlooking of baseball gambling, even if somewhat questionable, is sweet if you read it as him doing it because he knows Michiru enjoys it.

When he’d agreed to let Lucy move in with them, Natsu could admit it wasn’t the greatest idea to make a snap decision, because inside he knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Plus, it had also put Gray in a tough position, because he knew his friend wouldn’t be so heartless to kick out a female with a problem. Yeah, that was kind of a dick move for which he’ll be paying once the dust had settled. Especially now that they were finding out, just how difficult it was really going to be...
Nightmares? More like night terrors. It wasn’t every single night, but Lucy would often wake Natsu up at all hours as if reliving the events of the kidnapping. Physical movements, from fighting a Touka memory. The whines and screams, sometimes blood curdling shrieks as she’d shoot up in bed covered in a film of sweat, hyperventilating and still in the midst of an unseen attack. It was bad enough that Natsu started sleeping on his side, so if Lucy started swinging, his back took the brunt of it. He’d have to grab her arms and just hold her, doing his best to keep his voice low or soft, until she fully awoke from the dream state and collapsed into his arms in sheer exhaustion. Heaven help him, if this is what Levy had gone through for months, the woman deserved a Nobel peace prize for staying sane. After two weeks of this, Gray arranged with Levy to use Lucy’s room. He didn’t want to abandon Lucy, but the lack of sleep was starting to affect his school and job. It left Natsu all alone with his girlfriend, and frankly it was affecting him too. Not only the mental struggles, but the physical exhaustion made it difficult for him to get his job done. Makarov was a saint for being so understanding through it all.
“You look tired today,” Natsu’s therapist questioned in a toned statement. “I take it you’re still not getting enough sleep.”
The bags under his eyes were a dead giveaway to anyone that saw him. “Is it really that obvious?” Natsu responded with a bit of sarcasm to his tone.
“Is it your own demons or Lucy’s?”
“A mix of both.”
“Have you told her about your struggles or are you still hiding it. You know it’s better if you be honest with her.”
Way to go for the kill shot. The therapist went straight to the heart of things. Natsu sighed, “I told her a little... when she’d admitted being worried I’d leave her.”
“What did you say exactly?”
He fidgeted in the chair. “Well... literally, just that. I was just trying to kill her fears not worrying about my own at the time.”
“Ah. Well, maybe it’s time. You’ve told me that you’re trying hard to help her to get over her own struggles, but Natsu, you also need to take your own advice.”
Turn of the screws. But the therapist was right. “I know. I just worry it’ll add to her worries, which will make it worse, a-and that’s not gonna help either of us.”
“I think you should have more faith in Lucy. As you are her strength, she can be just as much yours. Don’t dismiss the idea before you even try it. If she feels like she’s helping you, it will give her a sense of accomplishment too, just like it gives you when you feel like you’re helping her.”
When the therapist put it that way, Natsu couldn’t help but pause and reflect on it, because damn the woman was making a lot of sense! Why did he fall in love with Lucy in the first place? Because of her feisty personality, that’s why. Had he forgotten? The real Lucy was still in there, it just needed to find its way back to the surface. There’s no harm in being honest about feeling scared or guilty. Kind of bare his heart to her in a way.
“Alright. I’ll give it a shot.”
He knew if he’d waited to confront this, he’d find an excuse not to do it. So that night after dinner, Natsu sat Lucy down for a heart to heart and bore his soul. His fears, his guilt, how the brave face he showed her day after day really just hid his own pain and insecurities over the situation. It was difficult and freeing at the same time to get it off his chest.
“Thank you for telling me, Natsu... that actually makes me feel a little better, because I thought I was going through it alone all this time. I mean, you being positive helps to keep me a little grounded, but it also made me feel like a burden. I want to help you as much you help me.”
“Are you sure? I just don’t want to add to your struggles.”
“I can’t tell you it won’t always be easy, so, all I can tell you is right now is I don’t think it will.”
“Okay— then promise me that you’ll say something if it is, a-and we’ll figure out something else.”
Lucy took Natsu’s hands in her own, “now that, I will promise.”
But despite their decision to co-fight, Natsu still took the initiative for Lucy and himself to figure out how to make things better... or lose his sanity in trying. He scoured psychology websites, searching for therapy’s and techniques used for PTSD, anxiety, depression, or anything related that might be useful, even meditation. It was a lot of work, but the information was useful, and he learned a lot about helping Lucy and himself to heal. Some of the horror stories were difficult to read, yet many of the survivors stories he came across provided the much needed encouragement to get through this ordeal.
The first thing Natsu decided to tackle was the nightmares, and to do that he’d learned he first needed to deal with the underlying causes. Pent up emotions being unleashed in Lucy’s subconscious as she slept were producing these horrific night terrors. With suggestions from both his therapist as well as Lucy’s, Natsu encouraged her every night before bed to write, write anything that came to mind, and he gently coaxed her into letting go of the worst thoughts. Unleash it onto the page, as the therapist put it. Then, together they would meditate using a relaxation technique he’d found appealing. Meditation wasn’t something Natsu thought he’d take a liking to, or even believed would work. But after learning more about it, decided it was worth a shot.
Everyone he knew used to tell him, it’s about clearing your mind of all thoughts... yeah, uh-huh, who the hell can pull that off? No, in this other technique it started off by saying that’s almost impossible, and that immediately caught his attention. It taught them about learning to control instead, to have thoughts, but focus them, compartmentalize them away and let them become background static you could more easily ignore through habituation. Ever wonder how a person can sleep near an airport or a train track? It’s because you get used to the sound. Once that’s done, you zero in on something you do want to think about, a nice memory, a sound, whatever you choose. Let it soothe and relax you until the next thing you know, your mind wants nothing more than to fall away into dreamland.
It took a few days of pushing Lucy through each step, because at first, she really did not want to rehash, even in a fictional way, the events of the kidnapping. So, Natsu would pull her onto his lap, with his arms around her waist while she held the paper and pen, closely monitoring her body language. The tensing and shaking were his first signs... ‘it’s okay, let it go...’ he’d whispered and tightened his hold, continuing the positive mantras, ‘you’re safe now, you can do this, I’ve got ya...’ Next came the release in the form of tears. A trickle, like a cracking of a dam, until it burst forth. Words on paper and liquid trails along her cheeks, but it was a good thing. All the anger and negativity flowing out instead of walled up in her mind. After a couple of weeks, the techniques were showing signs of working. Lucy awoke less and less because of the nightmares. She was still having some, but they weren’t to the same degree or frequency they’d once been.
“Yup... uh-huh, n-no, really, I am doing much better Lev. Yeah, we’ll visit tomorrow.... That sounds awesome. It’s be awhile since I’ve eaten sushi... I’m pretty sure... I’ll be okay, I promise… Yeah, we’ll meet you at Genki Zushi… Uh-huh, you too Levy. Good night.”
As soon as Lucy hung up her phone call, Natsu checked to make sure she really was okay with the plan to go out for dinner. It’d been just over three months since Lucy went anywhere aside from the doctors or police station willingly.
“I need to do this,” she stammered, taking a deep breath before continuing. “I can’t stay locked away forever.”
Natsu kissed her on the forehead. “I’m really proud of you babe.”
“I’m proud of us both,” Lucy smiled. “But I couldn’t do this without your support.”
Such a simple phrase meant the world to Natsu. After the last two months of struggle, his therapists advice was coming to fruition, or at least his truly believing it was possible. They were on the road to healing and nothing felt better than that, because one of the hardest legs of their journey was coming up fast.

Summary: You have a little heart-to-heart with a student you're tutoring. Sonny may or may not be eavesdropping. (Set Summer 2016) Pairing: Sonny x Reader Warnings: Basically just fluff! Words: 1808 AO3: here
Part 10 of the Changes verse - but it can be read as a one-shot too.
A/N: If this is your first time seeing this series, the reader is a teacher but is in between jobs. Money is tight, you and Sonny are coming out of a big fight and now the squad officially knows about yours and Sonny's relationship. This is just a little fluff filler fic to move things along :)
"The Lean Bean". It's the logo embroidered on the pocket of the uniform you're folding. It's also the place where you've been taking shifts as a way to offset some living costs. The new school year, and a dependable paycheck, is still well over a month away. Sonny had told you not to worry about finding extra work, but the idea of living together without paying for anything didn't sit right with you - especially in such an expensive city.
Reaching into the laundry basket, you pull out a pair of dryer-warmed socks and routinely fold them in two. A clunk at the front door makes you gaze over your shoulder from your spot on the couch. Finally, Sonny is home. You greet each other affectionately, Sonny placing a kiss to your forehead.
"How was your day?" you ask, grabbing another pair of socks to fold.
"Long," he replies but you can tell from his voice that there's something more. You look at him expectantly, offering a gentle smile.
"I, uh," he hesitates, moving around the couch to take a seat. "I spoke to the squad about us today."
Sonny's eyes are apologetic; the fight of a few nights ago is still fresh in your minds. You let him know it's all right by placing a hand atop his knee.
Reassured, he continues. "They're happy for me - for us – ‘n they've noticed that I'm happier too. Actually, before I left tonight Lieu pulled me aside. She said that I have more patience with the vics ‘n that I'm more tolerant when interrogating perps. Doll, I know that I couldn't do any of that if it wasn’t for you."
"That's excellent news, Sonny!" you express, flattered by the compliment as well. "You really are a great detective."
Sonny beams for a moment before his face falls. "Also, 'n I hope you're not mad, but I took the opportunity to talk to Lieu about what happened between us…about me keepin’ you a secret from ‘em."
You feel a twinge of panic in your gut at the thought of Olivia being privy to details of your relationship troubles. That initial feeling subsides however as Sonny elaborates.
"It's just...she knows what it's like ta try ‘n balance life ‘n this job, and - "
But you cut him off before he can finish his sentence. "You don't have to explain, Sonny," you empathize. "It's good to talk things out with someone who understands."
Sonny's warm hand finds yours and he interlace your fingers. "Yeah," he agrees. "She was really sympathetic about it, too. She told me it's normal to feel scared but that it is better to be honest." His mouth curves into a lopsided grin. "Typical Lieu," he shakes his head. "Oh, ‘n I kinda told her about our situation ‘n how you were outta work until the fall - Again, I shoulda asked ya before I went there, but she was really supportive of us. In fact, she gave me the numba of a mom at Noah's daycare who's lookin' for a tutor for her daughter. Apparently she's headed inta middle school ‘n is really strugglin'."
It's a lot to take in but you assure Sonny that you're not upset with him. You appreciate his honesty. Relieved, Sonny wraps you in a hug and tells you again how lucky he is to have you.
As for the tutoring. Well, it's hard to say no. The extra cash will certainly help pay some of the bills that have increased since you moved in.
-x-
Madison is a pretty guarded girl. On the brink of being a teenager, she wants nothing to do with being tutored and everything to do with all else. Her mother dropped her off in a hurry, needing to shuttle her other two children to various extracurricular activities. Unfortunately, this left little time for introductions or for inquiries regarding the areas she particularly needed help in.
You try to be as welcoming as possible, asking her questions about her school work and attempting to understand her learning needs. The girl, however, couldn't be bothered. So, instead of blindly waltzing into curriculum review, you decide to have a little heart-to-heart.
"Madison," you speak, leaning back in your chair. "Do you know why you're here; why your mom asked me to tutor you?"
The girl refuses to meet your gaze. "Well, yeah,” she crosses her arms on your kitchen table. “Mom wants me to be tutored and stuff." There’s definitely attitude behind that tone.
You swallow your annoyance and choose your words wisely. "In simple terms, yes. But I think you know that it’s not for your mom's benefit. It's for you, so that you can start the year off prepared."
"Yeah, whatever,” she rolls her eyes with a huff. “No matter what, it's never gonna be enough anyway."
"Hey!" you defend gently. "Don't say that! My attitude is that if you know in your heart that you tried your very best, that's all you can do."
Madison studies you through the bangs that hover over her green eyes. For a moment you swear you can see the words getting through, but then she shrugs. "If I get good grades, mom promised to buy me a new iPhone."
How do you put a positive spin on this? How do you connect with this girl? "That's awesome!" you encourage. "You know, in college I was failing calculus." The girl raises her dark brows in shock. Maybe we're getting somewhere. "Yeah, I felt really dumb in that class and I just didn’t understand anything when it came to tests. Needless to say, I was panicking big time when finals rolled around. So, my dad made me a deal. We lived upstate and he absolutely hated the thought of driving in New York City, but he said that if I could pull off a 90% in the course, he would drive me here to see a Broadway show."
Now Madison is listening intently, curiosity etched across her young face.
"Both he and I thought it would be impossible, but low and behold, I hunkered down," you exaggerate a look of concentration and tuck your arms close to your body, "and studied my butt off! I passed with a 93!"
The girl's mouth drops open. "What show did you see?"
You smile fondly at the memory. "None," Madison shoots you a bewildered look, "but we did end up doing other fun stuff. I still like to tease my dad about it though and I guess I should be the one taking him since I live here now."
Madison's features soften and she allows a small chuckle.
"The point is," you say, trying to refocus the girl, "that you'd be surprised what you can do when you put your mind to it!"
You offer her an encouraging smile but Madison's quickly fades as she glances away. "It's...it's just really hard," she admits. "Mom's always so busy with my brother and sister which…kinda sucks sometimes."
Your eyebrows pinch together sympathetically. What can you say to her to let her know that it’s okay? Then your mind flickers to Sonny. "I know it's gonna be hard for me to relate to you on this one since I have no siblings, but my boyfriend comes from a big family. He has three sisters and he tells me that they used to fight like cats and dogs growing up." You can see Madison nod knowingly. "But you know what? Those squabbles really don't matter now. They love each other and they'd do anything for one another." A doting smile spreads across your face, "I'm actually kind of jealous of that. And with you, I bet that you must feel a lot of pressure to look out for your brother and sister, huh?" Madison shrugs sheepishly.
"That's a lot of responsibility, but at the same time, your siblings will appreciate you for it. They may not show you or tell you - they'll still be the same pains in the butt, however once you're all grown up, they will understand how much you've been there for them along the way. Whether you realize it or not, they look up to you. So, the greatest thing you can do for them is be the best version of yourself. By trying your best and working hard, they will learn to do that too - from you." You smile warmly at her and she returns the gesture.
It's not long after that Madison begins opening up. She explains what classes she has trouble with and how she feels about learning it. The information is invaluable and you take notes to plan out future sessions.
Madison's mother arrives a few minutes late to pick her up, but the girl flashes you a friendly smile as she leaves. You hope that you've given her more self-confidence and a little motivation to put forth her best efforts.
After you close the door behind them, Sonny pops around the corner and places a hand on the small of your back. He whispers softly into your ear. "You're amazin’, sweetheart." His breath causes a shiver to trickle down your spine.
"What? Why?" you question as Sonny slips his arms around the front of your waist.
Resting his chin on your shoulder, he continues. "The way you were talkin’ to Madison earlier. You've got so much compassion ‘n understandin’."
The warmth of his words radiates throughout your body. You lean your head against his, reaching up to touch the apple pendant hanging around your neck.
"Sorry for eaves droppin' but I heard my name 'n everythin' you were sayin' was just too sweet to turn away. You're definitely in the right profession. Your students are lucky to have you."
You turn around in his arms, slipping yours around his middle. "Thank you, Sonny," you murmur before placing a soft kiss to his nose. "That means a lot."
Sonny's eyes crinkle affectionately at the corners. "N' for what it's worth, you're gonna make an amazin' mom someday too. Watchin' you with her, it was all I could think about."
Your stomach somersaults. You do want kids one day and you can't imagine having them with anyone other than Sonny. "Yeah?" you smirk. "I want that for us one day too. The way you are with children melts my heart."
Sonny's features brighten. "Ya think I'd make a good dad?"
"Absolutely!" You poke his chest gently, right overtop his heart, "you got a lotta love in here, Carisi and someday our children will be the luckiest wee munchkins in the world getting to experience the love that I receive everyday."
Overwhelmed with elation, Sonny lifts you off your feet and into a giant bear hug; a silent declaration that you make him the happiest man in the world.

Fun facts:
- IDK if "The Lean Bean" is a real place or not, but it's a pretty accurate description of our favorite detective ;) - The story about the reader's calculus experience is a true story! Except, I'm Canadian so the drive is a little bit further :P
I hope you enjoyed this one! Thanks for reading :3
(Feedback is loved)

Bokuto boyfriend headcanons pleeease? 🥺
HELL YES! No problem, thank you for asking me :))) I really hope you like it! 💕
BOKUTO S/O HEADCANNONS
You go to Fukurodani
How could you not notice him???
Bokuto is constantly energetic and screams with excitement a lot at school
You didn’t exactly have a crush on him first, neither of you talked to each other, but he would always cheer you up and make you laugh from afar, just by being himself
Bokuto notices how you always smile at him, he’s a little more observant than he’s given credit for
He was so sure you had a crush on him, he thinks everyone has a crush on him
But that’s ok because they probably do
Once his brain comes to that conclusion, his mouth goes, “AKAASHI, THAT CUTE GIRL IS TOTALLY INTO ME!!!”
And of course the entire school heard him
Maybe all of Japan
Kuroo, “I feel like Bokuto is doing something stupid.”
You’re not shy but you don’t exactly assert yourself with people either, and you hate being called out
You already had a particularly bad day today and this was the cherry on top
You turn red, and you notice everyone staring at you
Embarrassed, you run away, faintly hearing someone hit something
“Bokuto everyone heard you.” Akaashi says, and Bokuto goes a little pink, “Oh...” then goes pale, “oh.”
Bokuto runs after you feeling really guilty
You’re sitting in a corner, a couple tears escaping your watery eyes when Bokuto finds you.
Once you notice him, you say quietly, “I don’t have a crush on you.”
He looks like a kicked puppy and says, “Sorry... I kinda wish you did.”
Your eyes go completely wide??? This came out of nowhere???
“Are you confessing to me?” You asked. This was unbelievable. No way did he like you. He barely knew you!
He rubs the back of his hair, blushing, “I dunno, maybe...but I won’t like you if you don’t want me to! I can get over it! After all, I am the ace.”
You smiled, “I like being liked... and maybe we can hang out sometime? You can tell me what an ace is.”
He got all excited and so did you and that was the beginning of your glorious relationship
The first time you call him by his first name his eyes basically pop out of his head and he will jump up and down in excitement, giving you kisses all over your face and will call Akaashi to brag
Bokuto appreciates every little thing you do so much
When you know he’s exhausted from volleyball (and he’s really good at hiding it) you make him a little bento and sit in the benches at volleyball practice, doing your homework, getting volleyballs, and encouraging him; “Kou, that was so cool! You’re really strong!”, “Kou I’m so proud to have a boyfriend who’s so strong and awesome.”
You basically simp for him
It boosts his confidence so much, and he really wants to make you proud so with your support, he almost never goes into emo mode
He does extra well with you there, and no matter how sweaty he is, when he demands kisses you giggle and give them to him
He loves your laugh so he likes to make you laugh whenever he can
Lots of tickling
Lots of cheesy jokes
Lots of purposely doing stupid things and embarassing himself
All just to see you laugh
He thinks that you snorting is adorable and will yell, “YOU’RE SO CUTE Y/N BABY”
The volleyball team loves you
You keep Bokuto in check and out of emo mode
Besides, you were super nice to the team
You’d tutor the first years and second years on things you knew
Bring snacks to practices and tournaments for the whole team
Pick up volleyballs in practice
Lots of cheering for everyone
To games you’d come decked out in Fukurodani gear, face paint and ribbons, the whole package
Bokuto would almost cry every time he sees you like that because, “Y/N YOU’RE SO ADORABLE I CAN’T HELP IT I’M SO LUCKY.”
You and Akaashi are good friends
He teaches you how to set for Bokuto so you can help in practice
It was meant to be a surprise for Bokuto, so while you were learning Bokuto got extremely jealous
“Y/N whose hair is fluffier, mine or Akaashi’s?”
“DON’T TOUCH AKAASHI’S HAIR Y/N YOU’RE MINEEEE”
When you surprise him he freaks out and cries a little “Y/N this is what you were doing???? I LOVE YOU SOOOOOOO *takes a breath* OOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!”
“AKAASHI. THANK YOU. Also don't try and steal my girl you hear me?” he jokes
You giggle a little and Akaashi rolls his eyes with a small smile
You’re only allowed to set for him otherwise he gets pouty
When he gets into emo mode and you’re not there, Akaashi will call you and you’ll talk to Bokuto, “Kou~ why are you upset?” “I’m bad at playing volleyball Y/N... why do you even love me?”
“I love you because you’re so dedicated to volleyball, me, and to everything you do. I love you because you make me laugh and so proud every time you go on that court and show everyone how hard you worked to get here. Kou, you’re one of the top five aces in the country! I don’t love you because of how good you are at volleyball, but because you are so hardworking and determined. You’re amazing at volleyball, so don’t put all those hours working hard to get as great as you are at volleyball to waste, and get back out there!”
Bokuto will tear up a little and be better than ever
Akaashi will wonder how you, someone really smart, is dating the idiot that tried to fit into a fridge today
But he’s proud of Bokuto for earning someone like you and keeping you
The next time he sees you, you get lots of kisses and cuddles “I love you so much Y/N!”
Considering he has to stay as one of the top five aces in the country, he overworks himself sometimes
You keep him from doing that by tempting him with cuddles and kisses
Works like a charm
“Aww I wanted cuddles, but I guess if you’d rather play more volleyball instead...”
Akaashi is so thankful for you
Cuddles are super frequent
This boy needs cuddles 24/7
He’ll wrap one arm around your waist and the other in your hair, and your head will be buried in his chest hugging him, and bringing him closer
Dates are super well thought out by him
Amusement parks? Yes.
Festivals? Oh yeah.
Ice skating? Definitely.
His kisses are always sweet, and long, like he’s trying to show you how much you mean to him every single time he kisses you
He loves giving butterfly kisses everywhere, especially your neck and right behind your ear.
He’s very patient and doesn’t have much of a temper, but some things make him very very pissed off
Bokuto is constantly trying to show how much he loves you, no matter the situation. He could be really mad or stressed out bu the last thing he wants to do is make you feel unloved
If you’re ever insecure, you should know, that Bokuto isn’t the type to care about appearances, and he makes sure you know that
Bokuto is so committed to you, he doesn’t want to do things like a fling or friends with benefits because he doesn’t see the point
If he is in a relationship with you, it’s committed till the end
He trusts you a lot, but he still gets jealous. He wants all of your affection and will either act like a kicked puppy or a horny teenager until it’s gone.
You always give him lots of physical affection and hype him up if he gets jealous
Bokuto gets a fair amount of female attention, so it’s natural to be jealous. However, Bokuto hates the idea of cheating and he just isn’t the type to do it
Besides, he loves you a lot and you trust him
He likes to make sure everyone knows that he’s yours and nobody else’s
You guys don’t fight a lot, and if you do, it’s always calm on his part He’s good at thinking rationally in stressful situations
Besides, he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body
Bokuto is always the first one to apologize, and he’ll get your favorite snacks and a movie you both love and come home
He loves when you steal his hoodies, and refreshes your stash regularly
“Do you have the goods?” “Yeah, make sure to keep it on the down low. We don’t want the cops on our tail.” “This would be easier if stealing hoodies were legal” “Pay up bub” *sweet, long kiss* You both laughed
Whenever you’re scared he’ll unconsciously know and wrap his arms around you
He loves you so much and you both are endgame
