This is by far my favorite version of the Five of Earth (Pentacles). Obviously I'm biased but I'm also right 😏. This image is from Evidence of Changes. Adam turns away from his friends, feeling spurned by not being included in their frivolity, and faces their reflection instead, watching and feeling bummed out. Yet, he could just as easily turn around and join in the fun. This card forces us to ask if we are being left out in the cold or are we rejecting ourselves before anyone else gets a chance to. 24th September 1848, death of English painter and writer Branwell Brontë, brother of the writers Charlotte, Emily and Anne. Suffering from tuberculosis, Branwell’s death was hastened on this day at the age of 31, from alcoholism, laudanum and opium addiction. Further suffering from alcohol withdrawal, his sister Charlotte recorded that he persisted as he was dying in wanting to show the power of human will, and remained standing until he died. Four days later he was interred in the family vault, to be joined in death shortly on the 19th December by his sister Emily, her health deteriorating rapidly, due to ongoing tuberculosis, the harsh winter, and the contamination of water in her house through run off from the church's graveyard. On the 29th May 1849, Anne also died from tuberculosis. Happy 4th July 2nd July 1776, the Continental Congress declares that the thirteen American colonies are no longer subjects of, or under the control of King George III, and are now united, free, and independent states. The declaration is made known two days later. 4th July 1804, birth in Salem Massachusetts of American author Nathaniel Hawthorne, best known as the author of ‘The House of Seven Gables’, and ‘The Scarlet Letter’. On the same day in 1826, the fiftieth anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, hours apart, past presidents John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died. Also on this day in 1831, fifth president James Monroe also died, while again on the same day in 1845, Henry David Thoreau moved into the cabin he had built on Walden Pond. Tarot Tuesday Ofgraveconcern Industrial Sublime Tarot 1760 - 1848 The Sun A ship is shown sailing on calm waters, the Sun can be seen confident shining above, it presents a scene of confidence and optimism representing the source of life. The ship has anchored near a lighthouse whose shining beacon competes with the light from the Sun symbolizing the belief in Enlightenment thinking, and the betterment of the age. Seen amongst the sun is a quote from the 1784 essay "Answering the Question: What Is Enlightenment?" by the philosopher Immanuel Kant. In reference to the Sun card, Kant’ essay speaks of the courage to use one's reason, intellect, and wisdom. In reference to Kant’s philosophy, in receiving the Sun card you have struggled through the dark of the subconscious and emerged in the light with an increase awareness of self and cultivation of mind. However receiving this card reversed indicates a temporary setback in your path to enlightenment, you may be feeling the journey is too arduous to complete, the chains may be proving too heavy at this moment to cast off.
