#yeah thats exactly what its like #i really am enjoying this novel #The Age of Innocence #Edith Wharton #literature #since someone might be interested:#it's a comedy of manners about rich ppl in the 1870s #mostly of a guy realizing his life & the lives of the ppl around him esp the women are all shallow & meaningless #because theyre all more interested in manners and the newest fashion and avoiding scandal than in doing anything real #that doesn't sound like a comedy but it is in that subtle social satire way #i want to group it in with jane austen but i think ppl who are too into jane austen would stab anyone who dared say such a thing
