Reacting to Legacies 3x03 (SPOILERS):

1. So ARE we FINALLY getting to some proper firstborn Mikaelson witch breakdowns?

2. Oh well, apparently no. They'll just try to wave it off as some one time thing probably.

3. So Hope and Landon are on a break. Okay. TBH watching them sass each other is interesting.

4. The guidance counselor is pretty much a compulsion monster, is that it? Well, I do like his wardrobe.

5. Alyssa's concern for MG is so fake I can't.

6. Nobody other than Jed read for Stefan? THE DISRESPECT.

7. Lizzie playing Caroline makes total sense but them asking Josie to play the lead without even an audition looks a bit bad TBH. Like, give the other interested people a chance, at least.

8. I find it a bit repetitive how there are mind-controlling monsters popping out again and again.

9. So MG is basically going through a phase similar to what Cami was going through when Klaus used to compel her at the beginning of TO. Considering Quincy's fondness for Cami, he must have liked playing that.

10. I understand that Landon is supposed to be a capable songwriter in-universe but it takes more than that to write and direct a musical and it's very weird that they didn't even find a guest star to pose as a Drama or English teacher who is guiding him or something. WHERE ARE ALL THE TEACHERS?

11. I kinda feel like some of the lead characters in this show are colour-coded. I see Hope and Landon in red and blue a lot (the two gowns we have seen Hope wearing also fall into this pattern) and Josie wears yellow in like, every other episode. If I recall correctly, Lizzie wears a lot of white, too. I wonder what the reasoning behind these choices are.

12. Well, I liked Hope and Landon's relationship in S1, I have no idea what was going on with it in S2, and I still don't know what to think about it.

13. Lizzie casts herself in Caroline's role and then chokes at rehearsal. Not totally unrealistic but still feels a bit forced to me. Would have been better if Landon cast her because she's Caroline's daughter and Lizzie was a bit apprehensive in the first place because she didn't want to mess up the role.

14. I appreciate the show taking a moment to talk about Lizzie's bipolar disorder though. It's been a while.

15. "Bonnie just disappears for long periods of time"? Dude, she's still super important and you're putting her in the play. Right? RIGHT?!

16. Landon, THANK YOU for pointing out how weird Caroline and Alaric's relationship was. The guy deadass got engaged to her and had a pissing contest over her with Stefan, that will never not gross me out.

17. So the monster is mind controlling Landon to put Klaus into the play. Saw this coming IG.

18. Hope is painting again, like her dad used to do when he felt things were going out of control. I've been rewatching TO and this is making me so emotional. I MISS KLAUS AND HIS SHENANIGANS. And not a single character on Legacies comes close to Klaus, Elijah and Hayley for me. (Sorry if this hurts anyone's feelings but Legacies really is a downgrade from TVD and TO)

19. Ugh, why would he use the contents of the letter as lyrics? Dude, is it because you're mind-controlled? No, I don't like this. Klaus loved Hope to the ends of the earth and wanted everyone to know but Hope wants to keep things private, and her wishes should have been respected.

20. So apparently Landon tries not to put Klaus' villainous antics into the show. Well, okay, it's definitely a copout but since he is Hope's boyfriend, makes sense. But I don't understand why the musical HAS TO BE about the Salvatore school. The accreditation excuse is lazy, writers! Also, Landon, my dude, Klaus was a major donor of the school. Put that in instead of the other things, stop pissing off your girlfriend FFS. Even if you're mind-controlled 🤦🏻‍♀️

21. I do find it funny how Landon is all gaga over Klaus' use of language though. The guy really did have the best lines, didn't he? (Tied with Elijah, I suppose, for me)

22. The other singers of the first song are really good so Kaylee sounds a bit rusty in comparison. Also, she reminds me too much of Dark!Josie with the hair and makeup. From a distance, she can be mistaken for Nina though.

23. I love that the backstage activities are being shown.

24. I'm digging Jed as Stefan and I really like his singing voice. And the Hero Hair wig cracked me up. Kaleb is obviously good at singing at it's nice to hear more from him. I also like how Chris Lee didn't try to exactly emulate Ian and played Damon how someone who has only heard about him might play him.

25. Is Hope painting herself before the pit or something? Or is this supposed to symbolize her despair at her parents' loss? ALSO, I WANT SOMEONE TO MENTION HAYLEY :( Why is Hayley so ignored?!

26. The same person probably wrote MG's notes and Caroline's letter IRL and therefore, in-universe, MG has Caroline's handwriting and it's funny to me.

27. Jenny sings well, I like it. I don't understand the song though, was Caroline actually ever feeling this insecure? I feel like the song became a lot more about Lizzie than her mother. (It's been forever since I watched TVD, if anyone has yet to guess, I prefer watching TO)

28. The doppelganger thing cracked me up.

29. Wait why did the monster attack Josie?! Ohhhh he's forcing Landon to improvise and put Klaus' song at the end. Well, I guess it makes it seem a bit less like Landon's fault. But would Hope know that?

30. It's hilarious how they lowkey make a call back to Nina leaving TVD and them having to put Elena in a sleep spell though.

31. Landon having a hissy fit is funny to me. Aria needs more comedic scenes.

32. Wait, where did Jade come from? Has she been in the school all these weeks?

33. While the scene seems a bit shabby to me, Klaus talking to Hope reminds me of their scene from TO 4X03. I needed more of Summer Fontana and Joseph Morgan together. Also, the donation did get mentioned, YASSSS. Man did some horrific things but he did fund the school so maybe a little less badmouthing in the presence of his daughter now that you know the story, eh, students?

34. The fact that the guidance counselor actually wore a leather jacket and a henley is cracking me up. It's really bizarre.

35. "Terrible painter" XD Klaus would have eaten you for saying that if he were alive.

36. Um, Hope, wouldn't you ask your family if you are doing enough to make your father proud, instead of this random bloke who supposedly met him once?! Maybe call Freya or Rebekah.

37. Why is this monster being nice to Hope? Doesn't it try to break people up or something? You'd think he'd try to piss her off even more and ruin her relationship with Landon.

38. Stefan was trying to be more like Damon by sacrificing himself? Um, what?

39. Well, this musical at least gave Stefan and Caroline a goodbye scene. I wonder how much the twins remember Stefan, must have been a bit emotional for Lizzie to play that. Jenny's singing was gooood, really liked it.

40. JED WAS GONNA KISS LIZZIE AND I WANTED IT TO HAPPEN. But a forehead kiss does work.

41. Hope's playing Elena now? What?

42. Ngl I want Hope and Jed to be friends. She needs more of a connection to her wolf side. Both of her parents wanted her to be surrounded by wolves and she's barely interacting with the wolves in this show, which always makes me sad.

45. So when Hope is singing, is she doing it as Elena or Hope? She came on stage as Elena, but I thought the song is about Hope. So WHAT IS IT?

47. Danielle sings pretty well. It's good she decided to perform this time.

48. Okay, that lifting up scene was adorable. I feel like Hope and Landon are at their cutest when they're a bit spontaneous. But she's Elena on stage and it lowkey looks like Landon crashed her romantic scene with Damon to kiss her so I'm cackling.

55. This episode should have spent more time exploring the aftermath of the loss of Rafael. The abrupt shift from the last episode wasn't nice.

57. I feel like Klaus is too much of a controversial figure that Hope's conflict about her father's reputation would be resolved in one day. This is feeling undercooked. Speaking of, when is one of Klaus' or Hayley's enemies coming after Hope, because she did inherit all of them. Would make for better storytelling than this monster of the week nonsense. And yeah, still no mention of Hayley, I hate this.

58. The monster's characterization was really odd to me and I am so tired of this format SMH.

59. So they toyed with MG for weeks to get a vampire for the spell? That sounds like too much effort. There are tons of vampires from Klaus and Rebekah's bloodline, they couldn't find another? Also, I wonder who is the wolf that they will use.

Well, I felt like this episode was mostly okay, but not that well-cooked or epic or whatever. What is horrific is that they didn't show Bonnie, though. They could have at least gotten a female black guest character who is one of the witch students or something. This is very offensive.

Also, I don't think it makes sense for the show to do any more musicals in the future. This ain't Riverdale.

5. What’s your favorite candy bar? I’m not sure if it’s a candy bar, probably not, but it’s from Ferrero so... It’s called Kinder Fetta al Latte in Italian (something like “milk slice”?) and it’s my absolute favorite sweet snack to eat! Strictly speaking of candy bars, I love Kinder Maxi King!

I tried different things to survive but honestly nothing beats the feeling of waking up, leaving the house and knowing your workplace is the theatre... Climbing the stairs to the ballet studio, walking through the corridors and hearing opera singers and musicians rehearsing, going to the stage or in the seats just to have a look at the empty theatre 🥺 Ahhh I'm making myself cry here, Gloria out!!! 😂

3. Worst dream u have ever had? I had sleep paralysis but was imbetween that and a lucid dream. At first I was paralyzed and could see my bed but my eyes felt closed and open at the same time?? A giant dark demon looking dog had towered over me and began to tear at my neck. It looked and felt very real I started to try to scream and it felt like a scream was coming out but no sound exited. Then I went into a lucid dream where I was being chased by this dog and running for my life I was running by and nobody could save me nobody in the dream when it caught up to me I was back in my bed and it was trying to eat me again. I was so terrified I couldn’t sleep for a whole week.

51. current stresses? My cat has been throwing up and having diarrhoea the past week or so, she’s been to the vet, it got better for a bit, but tonight suddenly got worse. Living with my parents who I have a very toxic relationship with. Living in a single very overfilled room. Trying to not spend money so that I can save up to move next year. Nightmares about my trauma. Either the house is haunted or there’s a build up of negative energy (probably that).

52. favorite font? I always liked the look of all of the script style fonts (freestyle, french, lucida, lucida calligraphy, Edwardian, Palace) but they’re not accessible so for anything people will actually see (which is literally nothing) I always go with arial.

Slight rash on one finger because I’m sensitive to what is in a lot of hand washing products apparently (never an issue until the pandemic), one broken finger nail that is a bit shorter than the rest. Not painted nails because energy. I always wear my engagement ring, usually I wear several other rings but with how my skin is being I thought I’d better not for a while.

54. what did you learn from your first job? Bakeries are hell, my circadian rhythm will not adjust to anything besides its natural state for longer than a couple of days at a time no matter how long or hard I try. I can absolutely fall asleep standing up.

Soooooo yeah. I know I’ve been kinda least-in-sight lately and have a very overdue Precipice chapter in the wings, etc., etc. Uh, basically, my BB got behind and then a little bit away from me. Deadline is not an issue in terms of completeness, but it’s gonna be quite a bit messier than I like at this stage in an event like this. Well, I’m planning to Power Through over the weekend and hopefully I’ll get more tweaking done than I expect? We shall see.

ANYWAY. I don’t know how March will look--more on that in Monday’s Coming Attractions post, of course, but work will get SUPER BUSY, along with other ongoing challenge commitments--but I’m still hoping to start posting my regular fics again? Lol. At least finishing Arc Seven so I can move on to Promises and Preludes because I’m super excited for some of the stuff happening there.

But for now, since I know I haven’t posted much lately, and because I’ve been rereading the Valdemar series so it’s been on my mind, I’ve decided to share some more from my Jedi of Valdemar AU! Specifically, this is the Ginormous Timeline of Doom that covers everything from, like, two years before Anakin gets to Haven to Leia’s kids’ generation getting Chosen, etc. (working in a Blended Canon because that’s how I roll) Obviously, this includes many spoilers for the AU in question--and also, because I like to keep certain plot points/character beats consistent, a few things for other fics. Also, this is an admittedly niche-appeal crossover with a fair amount of self-indulgent stuff in here JSYK.

Let’s see, what else...oh! Those of you who read the Family of Spies AU will recognize some OCs from there. One of them actually technically originated in the Valdemar AU, even. Nikolai and his brothers, who get mentioned here, are OCs of mine who in the regular timeline/galaxy are Kallus’s sister’s sons.

Kamen Rider W Episodes 37-49

Why are endings always so hard to go through?

And we finally reach the final stretch of W. This was way faster than I imagined, I can't believe I managed to pull this off, I'm so happy.

This final third of the show was, as expected, the final arc. But different from other series I'm used to watch this one had a "finale" vibe to it through-out all thirteen episodes. Right from episode 37, we were already hit by a rock saying "the end is near" and things were slowly progressing and escalating until the end.

Before I talk about the positives of this arc let me discuss a few of my problems with it.

The first one is pretty minor, I was just disappointed that they introduced a villain who had an awesome design but she lost right away and we didn't get to spend time with her. My second complaint is again pretty minor, it's not a problem of the arc itself and more with the show and how in order to make Ryu seem smart they immediately transform Shotaro on a dumb person which isn't fully truthful to his character.

The next complaint is the first major one. I don't like how they've built the Sonozaki family through the entire season, just to shove them aside in the last two episodes and changed them for a less charismatic villain we know nothing about. I've mentioned this before and I'll say it again, the Sonozakis are very good villains and I do care for them (excluding Shroud) they're very charismatic characters, and better than that they're very charismatic villains! I really liked Ryubee, he could easily be the final boss of the season (like they were building him to be), he was very powerful, he had a strong presence as a dopant and an even stronger magnetism in his civilian form, and they even had something that could've been very interesting to see being played on a final battle. But no, let's change them for this Foundation X, a group of people we know nothing about and have no attachment towards to so that we can weaken this finale.

My final major complaint, and the biggest one of all, is how this show had a perfect ending in episode 48, but they had to ruin it with this epilogue where they revert the boldest decision they've made for the ending in exchange of... I don't even know what. Yes, is sad that Shotaro now is on his own, and it would be awkward for this show to end without one of its main protagonists. HOWEVER, this weakens all actions from the episode prior. If they wanted to make an epilogue it would've been better if they showcased how Shotaro has been coping with Phillip's death, we should have seen Wakana "reformed" and trying to do good in name of the brother that gave his life for her. You wanna make Phillip appear? Put him on a dream, put him as a hallucination of Shotaro while he's sad looking at the sunset wondering what to do, have Wakana somehow connect with him in the library. There are so many options, they didn't need to go by the easy route and revive Phillip.

Thankfully this show isn't just bad moments, and while these points I gave are for sure a problem on my eyes, I can't deny that this arc did a lot of great things that more than compensate for these flaws.

To begin the pace is pretty good, I think this part was the one that did the best regarding the "MOTW Cases" because, as isolated as some of these were, in every episode we could see things moving forward as we would slowly see new revelations happening that would eventually converge in the end. I especially like how the thing that would serve as a match to give start to the final battle would come to the boys' knowledge from a client dropping a case, it seems very simple but I still love this touch.

I also like how in this third act we could see a little bit of development happening for most people on both sides of this coin. Yeah, sadly the protagonists took the shorter end of this stick this time, but the villains had a compelling arc and the side characters also got something. Like, heck they even managed to give Jinno, someone who has been more or less just a comic relief character at this point, some love, this deserves to be praised. And as much as I have problems with the final three episodes I can't deny that the ending was very good and emotional, and they also found a way to redeem all members of the Sonozaki family and to me that was a huge plus because, if it hasn't been clear, I really like them.

The  designs for this part were also great. The dopants were more hit or  miss visually, Grasshopper, Old, and Utopia are probably the better   ones, but they all had very interesting powers that elevated them to   higher levels. Wakana (or I should say Clay Doll?) got an Xtreme form   and I really loved the design because it reminded of Taboo which I think  is my favorite girl of this season. Saeko also got a new form by using the Nasca memory and she looked amazing in it! I also L O V E the "dragon" Terror  can summon to attack, it looks dope and it's super powerful, amazing. We  didn't get any new power-up forms during this part but it was really  exciting to see Kamen Rider Joker becoming a thing.

I feel like I haven't talked as much this time, but this comes from a place of joy. I was enjoying this final arc so much that I didn't take as many notes as I usually do, so I don't have many strong opinions on the huge positives. Still, I wanna take a moment to highlight the few episodes that got me wanting to sleep because I didn't like them.

Episodes 39 and 40 are very important because this cycle is where Wakana gets her power-up. Sadly this plot comes with an attachment that is very awkward, being the stupid movie the Gene dopant wanted to do. This was without a doubt the lowest point of this batch of episodes, Akiko was annoying, the dopant was lifeless, and the movie they were shooting was just awful. I couldn't care about ANYTHING this plot was going for, I think this was supposed to be Akiko's closing episode but, as I mentioned in the previews post, she doesn't have an arc, she never did, so her "ending" felt shallow.

Episodes 43 and 44 are the Ryu's arc closing episodes. This was more successful than Akiko's one, but as I said, the fact they make Shotaro look bad in order to have Ryu looking good is a big downside to me. Also somehow now Ryu is super special, he has a power we never have seen or knew about before. And to top that off they once again wanna throw the Ryu x Phillip rider idea, and just like the last time Phillip was willing to do it which yall know, I HATE. Yes, this time Shotaro had been transformed into an elderly and transforming with him wasn't the best option, but we really didn't need to see this stupid plot again.

And that was basically it. I thought I would come out of this with a big lesson learned as what you usually expect from shows like this and that I would be able to dissert on that lesson as a way to conclude this post. But W was more emotional and character-driven than what I'm used to and I'm kinda thrown off, but not in a bad way. This show made me feel things, intense things, just by seeing those characters that I grew to love interacting, rather than having a clear "good message" they were trying to convey and that was easy to grasp, and I don't really know how to translate these emotions I'm feeling. But I'm actually really glad, this is something new for me and it's very exciting, I can't wait to see what the next seasons are going to throw at me and if I'm gonna be this mess by the end of each one of them. XD

When I started this, I wasn't planning on watching the movies since there's a whole bunch of them and they seem pretty messy to get into. But I've done a little bit of research and apparently W has 3 solo movies that don't really connect with other season and just expand this world so I'll be giving Kamen Rider W Forever and the two Return movies a chance before I start the next season and depending on how much I have to say about them I may or may not make a post about this week, but this ain't a promise so don't keep your expectations high.
