Heya all :) I've done several test streams over the last two weeks on twitch and youtube and I've been enjoying it. I'm going to be sticking to Youtube for now until I can figure out multistreaming, and going to be using my new pngtuber (because vtube studio makes my laptop have an imminent risk of bursting into flames...). Won't be anything too serious/professional, as always I'm mostly just practicing my voice/speech and trying to combat social anxiety. I'll be able to keep the start times for every stream, but any stream may end a little early or be able to run later depending on whether or not my bird acts up or family needs anything. But, yes! The plans are: Saturday - Side Order No Hacks, Sprinkler Only: Going to continue practicing this challenge.. it's been a bit of a roadblock for me, but I'm making progress on it.
Monday - Continuing the Sky grind on the weekly reset! I'll do the new Nesting Quest, an Eden and Winged Light run, maybe decorate our Nest some more if we can afford any new goodies.
Wednesday - Generic Splatoon stream. Might try the first splatoon game, or continue side order challenges, or try a new challenge (was thinking sub only splatoon 2 or after alterna?). Maybe do Anarchy/Salmon run, depends on how I'm feeling and if anyone stopping by wants to see something specific.
Thursday - Endless Ocean Luminous launch day!! I loved the first two when I was younger. I'm not sure if it'll be a good "streaming" game since it'll prolly be very chill, but I'm still very excted for it. On the video front, I've got a Drone-only challenge run completed, I'm working on the editing and voice recording now. No ETA yet on the commentated vid since the voice part is hard :')

I'm honestly having more fun setting up OBS from scratch for multistreaming than researching talk topics. 😭
Maybe it'll get reversed when I actually launch, who knows?

4K stream stuff thread, 1/15/23, cross-posting from Mastodon
Okay, I've been kind of, vagueposting about this all day, but someone pointed out not everyone is on my Discord server, so I'll just get on with it and explain what I have planned.
The reason I got the 4090 is because of its dual encoders and AV1 support. My long game is to multistream to YouTube at 4K60 HDR AV1 and Twitch at 720p30 SDR H.264 (upping Twitch as the platform allows once AV1 is out, minding bitrates as long as transcoding isn't guaranteed).
This will require large reworks of my stream workflow, including tonemapping from SDR to HDR for non-HDR sources (e.g. my overlays and non-HDR game content), and back from HDR to SDR for Twitch. I'm not even sure if this is possible due to limits I've seen with V-Tuber software.
I'm not sure if the 4090 will even support that heavy of an encoding job, in which case I plan to build a transcoding server to support this. Hence, once it's all set up and working, I'll be running test streams to validate if this even works.
I'll also need to figure out my plugin situation, since moving to a HDR workflow will necessitate upgrading off of OBS 27, which means I'll need to replace all of my plugins. Overall, it'll be a lot of work to get this working, and that's not even considering my uni homework.
I was already planning 10mg Collection and Undertale: Bits and Pieces streams for the beginning of 2023, which will serve as good test cases for SDR content capture. I'll also be resuming my Policenauts stream series, as this will allow me to test capturing from a HDR source.
You may be asking, how in the hell is Policenauts HDR? And, that's where things get interesting, and why I want to capture in HDR at all - the RetroTINK 5X currently supports to a limited degree, and eventually the RetroTINK 4K will support in full, HDR output for CRT filters.
As you know, my foremost goal is authenticity in my presentation of retro content, and so supporting the absolute forefront in CRT filters is something that I consider of utmost importance. Hence, the move to HDR for supported platforms.
It'll take some time until this is all ready, assuming I can even get it working (note aforementioned limits with V-Tubing software, as well as questions as to whether I can get HDR out of my Magewell Pro without needing to write a custom OBS plugin). I'll keep you all posted.
Thank you for your patience. This isn't the end of my hiatus, but I hope it'll be enough, once it's all ready. <3
