i love when a video game has mastery over its ambience 😩
#i’m talking fallout dishonored bioshock resident evil etc.#indie games like oxenfree and edith finch#the environment lives and breathes and knows what its about#a curated and intentional ambience is guaranteed immersion (for me at least)#lis is what reminded me of this. that game has many manyyy flaws but it keeps its atmosphere very centered it knows what it wants u to feel#in each location via color and clutter and haze and lighting and ambient sounds and music + lack of#it’s very easy to produce cookie cutter video games and i jst think the first step towards setting them apart is environment#like mass effect excels at ambience and is like the gold standard in this regard imo#which is why it stands out SO much in the scifi genre its become almost a league of its own#anyways. rambling again#anyways.txt#delete later
