Between the quantum physics inspired dialogue about magical artifacts and the fact that Thedas has flame thrower guns now it’s so clear that, somewhere high up in the chain of decision-making, they decided they were embarrassed to be high fantasy and had to make a Mature Magic System for the modern gamer
