The dragons den bubble tea discourse is actually killing me. I’ve ended up working on a monster of a post with research and everything but that just means every day I have to think about it which makes me mad but I’ve already complained to my friends several times and raghghghg

#ramblings #tl;dr bubble tea was licherally made for a chain restaurant and seeing everyone talk about how people are disrespecting its deep culture is #infuriating #not to mention the fact that people are treating east Asia as a monolith when the fact that a Chinese man claimed a Taiwanese drink as his #heritage is INSANE given the political background between China and Taiwan #it’s such a nothingburger and as an actual Asian person living in an Asian country I’m just Ben affleck smoking meme #a similar thing happened to a friend years ago (being accused of appropriation for drinking bubble tea) and our whole ASIAN friend group #thought that was hilarious fringe twitter nonsense #and to see it being the main opinion now #is. wild
