Why does everyone on r/AITA have such shitty friends
Like to this day there’s not a single story I’ve heard in which OP was right and their “friends” sided with them. It’s always either that they dismiss their concerns or blindly believe someone spreading misinformation about them

Lose It - Jack Kelly Imagine
Requested: I was wondering if you’d write something where the a usually skittish reader refused to leave the fight in newsies square and got soaked pretty bad and jack carries her either to meddas or to the penthouse to look after her? And he’s all upset bc he thinks it’s his fault?
Warnings: fighting, mentions of injuries (blood bruises etc.), talks about death/killing, I mean this is the fight scene so prepare yourself
Summary: After getting roughed up not only by the Delancey’s but the bulls and being unable to save your brother, Jack has to carry you away from the bulls
-------------------------
You wiped your sweaty palms on you pants as you all stood in newsies square. No one was backing down and you’d finally got the scabs on your side. It wasn’t long till you all started to fight everyone trying to get the Delancey’s the best they could. When it seemed like it was over everyone was cheering, tearing any paper in sight. You’d jump on your brother if you could. Everyone’s excitement was short lived as a whistle sounded through the air. Chaos broke out as everyone realized it was the bulls, they were clearly not there to help you. You caught Jack’s eye as he gave you a knowing look but you shook your head before all hell broke loose.
“Y/N you gotta leave if things get bad.” You remembered Jack telling you the morning before the fight. “No.” Was all you said before your brother budded in. “I’s agree with Jack. You’s not gettin’ hurt.” Crutchie added making you lose it. “We’s in this together. Ain’t no way I’s leavin’ not for anythin’. I ain’t gonna run.” You explained earning sighs from both boys as they gave each other a look. You hadn’t stayed with them any longer, not wanting to hear them tell you to not go or to leave if you needed to. You weren’t just going to stand by and watch the people you cared about get hurt.
Your whole body ached from the blows that seemed to never stop coming, but you pushed on trying to ignore it the best you could. You couldn’t hear yourself think, the commotion around you putting you on edge. You looked around everywhere trying to find your brother. Your heart raced as worry set in. Adrenaline was all that you were running on. You finally spotted his crutch as you fought your way in his direction. You’d been receiving more punches than you were giving but you didn’t care. By the time you reached your brother you were glad you did as he tried to fight off two guys.
Punches were being thrown left and right, yells being heard all around as everyone fought. No one wanted to give up but it was hard to keep going. Every newsie was getting crushed as the bulls and the Delancey's made sure not one newsie was left without looking like they’d been thrown through a meat grinder. Blood was coming out of almost each and every one of you and that’s when people started to scatter. You heard your name called by your brother along with other newsies somewhere behind you. You ran as fast you could seeing him defenseless and alone with the Delancey’s.
You tried as best you could with the little energy you had left to fight the closest one. A fist connecting with your nose sends you stumbling back, blood beginning to pour as the impact causes you to fall. Crutchie’s cries for help could be heard as your limp body was left alone on the floor. It was clear as day what was happening and you tried the best you could to get yourself up but nothing seemed to be working. Your chest clenched as you felt as though your heart had been ripped from your chest, the fear of never seeing your brother again beginning to overwhelm your senses.
You were picked up in strong arms as you fell in and out of consciousness. The only thing you were aware of was someone fumming, but you couldn’t make out who it was or what they had been saying. You were placed down on what you could only assume was a table as your awareness finally came back to you. “I’s so sorry Y/N this is all my fault I’s should’ve made you stay at the lodgin’ house.” Jack explained, his voice cracking as he gripped your hand in his. “He’s gone.” Was the only thing you could make out. Your thoughts still on what had just happened. The one thing you’d believed in and your brother both ripped from you in the blink of an eye.
“We’s gonna get him out. You’s gonna see him again Y/N you don’t gotta worry.” Jack explained, but it was clear he was trying to convince the both of you or that. “It’s the refuge! They’s gonna kill him. He’s gonna die and I ain’t gonna see him ever again. I’s gonna lose him…” You cried as you thought about the refuge. It was rare for anyone to come out alive. Jack had you pulled into his chest guilt overtaking him as he thought about it. Crutchie was like a brother to him and couldn’t imagine how much worse that feeling was for you. You shook in Jack’s arms as the tears seemed to never end.
You both stayed in the theatre as Jack fixed you up. He wiped away all the blood from multiple cuts on your face. You didn’t have to look at your face to know you’d have multiple bruises scattered across. A makeshift bandage was wrapped around your arm to cover a cut you’d gotten. The whole time Jack cleaned you up you were quiet, thoughts of your brother in the refuge was all you could think about. “He’s gonna be okay.” Jack said reassuringly wiping a tear that you hadn’t realized fallen. “It’s the refuge.” You whispered looking up at him. “Y/N, I’s sorry. It’s all my fault, I’s shouldn’t have let either of you come.” He explained making you shake your head. “We would of gone anyway.” You said before you made your way to the lodging house without Jack ignoring everyone as you went straight to your bunk and slept.
The rest of the strike was hell for you. You’d been quieter than ever, not even caring that you’d all gotten into the paper. You at least thought you had Jack until the rally. Your whole world was crumbling around you, your brother in the refuge, so many problems in the strike, and Jack turning against all of you. Things started to look up once you all had used the printing press in Pulitzer’s office, but nothing seemed to be enough without your brother with you. Even when you won you hadn’t cared or cheered as much as everyone else, and Jack couldn’t stand seeing you that way.
“Hey Jack look it’s Crutchie.” Was the best thing you’d ever heard through the whole strike. As your brother came into view you couldn’t stop yourself from running and accidentally tackling him on the floor as you’d pulled him in for a hug. “I missed you too Y/N.” Crutchie joked as you helped him off the floor. Jack walked over pulling you both in a group hug happy to see both of you finally okay as smiles were spread on both of your faces. You were all like family and Jack would do anything for you.
