Lyney finally asking Aether out, but needing to clarify that he’s sleeping with his sister and that’s not going to stop.

Aether just says, “Oh, yeah, I figured. No worries.”

Lyney starts to panic and ask why- what- how- and Aether just tilts his head to the side with the most confused expression. “Isn’t that…. normal? Between twins? You’re two sides of the same soul, isn’t it reasonable to love each other in every way?”

And when Lyney’s jaw hangs open, Aether goes on to explain that of course he and his sister are like that. Why would he take issue with Lyney doing the same? Is this not… normal in Teyvat?

My guess is that it's a result of three tendencies: 1) "they're hot, who cares if they're related", 2) "well the only 'equal' pairing for an Endless is another Endless" and 3) "mythology sure has a lot of incest, and this *is* a mythology series so..."

Or, I guess, 4) it's as accidental as the coffee commercial allegedly was 🤣

I think I even saw a Dream/Desire art piece where Desire is draped across Dream (though I can't recall if that was "official" art or fanart).

Honestly I think baring in mind the interview with Mason and Kirby where they joked that Dream is so shippable he even has sexual chemistry with their characters I guess we should maybe take a deep breath and accept that for any of the reasons mentioned above, we are in the legitimate incest fandom. Lmao!

Part of me wishes I would have read pjo as a kid/teen because I've always been obsessed with Greek mythology and tbh even as an adult I enjoyed the first book or so I did read.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure the moment I realized that technically everybody, even then people dating, are cousins at best and possibly even siblings, I'd have been so aghast. XF
