twice is too much
Milkvan and their ‘end of the season love confession’ pattern/coincidence does not hit.
We’ve literally already done this like what is going on. Why have y’all not learned yet. Love ain’t easy, but I don’t remember it being this repetitive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stop it.
Why’s it not clicking, why’s it not sticking, why do you two keep having the same issues?
It’s a fact of life that love is not enough for a relationship to work. You need to understand each other, you need to respect each other’s feelings and interests. You should value and trust each other to a point where you don’t have to bother questioning if there’s love because it’s plain to see.
Your face suction and fluttering hearts do not and will not keep your relationship stable. Can you even say what you enjoy about your relationship? Do you even communicate?
“I love her and I can’t lose her again!”
She wasn’t even there for that one 😭 why was El the only one to look you in the eyes and say it? Mike dragged it all the way to the S4 finale just to say it while she was being choked out with her eyes closed.
“This is my last resort!” ass love confession please be serious.
Also…
Tumblr media
Glad you were able to recognize it here, bud, my condolences to future you.
(It’s also hard to get over how El looks right before she returns his feelings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know it’s easy to say she was just building up courage, but her father died and she lost her powers all in the same day. I believe El was very emotionally vulnerable/susceptible here. She needs confirmation that she’s accepted and loved by someone (a problem that’s brought up again in S4). If you really pay attention to that scene, she moves to leave, fights with herself, stops, and makes a decision to turn back.
I don’t think it’s something she planned on bringing up were she not moving with the Byers and not going to see Mike in person for a while.
It’s the way she looks so conflicted before saying it. She even pulls a ‘grocery store Mike’ and tries to get him to bring it up before doing it herself (I think she even wanted him to say something before she started walking away). Something, I might add, Mike is incapable of doing without being served three Will Byers Pep Talk specials and a comforting hand on his back.)

Stranger Things characters and ships as Taylor Swift Albums
Part Four: Red (Taylor’s Version)
*Disclaimer: I’m tagging all the ships and characters featured. I’m gonna try not to be biased. MOST of these are strictly based on canon. No hate to ANY ships or shippers.*
State Of Grace: Ronance (Nancy’s POV)
“So you were never a saint and I've loved in shades of wrong. We learn to live with the pain. Mosaic broken hearts but this love is brave and wild”
Red: Mileven (El’s POV)
“Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead end street. Faster than the wind, passionate as sin, ending so suddenly”
Treacherous: Jopper (Hopper’s POV)
“Two headlights shine through the sleepless night and I will get you, and get you alone”
I Knew You Were Trouble: Stancy (Steve’s POV)
“No apologies. He'll never see you cry. Pretends he doesn't know that he's the reason why you're drowning”
22: Elmax (s3)
“Yeah, we're happy, free, confused, and lonely in the best way. It's miserable and magical”
I Almost Do: Stancy (Steve’s POV)
“I just wanna tell you it takes everything in me not to call you”
We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together: Mileven (El’s POV)
“I remember when we broke up the first time saying, "This is it, I've had enough," 'cause like we hadn't seen each other in a month when you said you needed space”
Stay Stay Stay: Jancy (Nancy’s POV)
“Before you, I'd only dated self indulgent takers who took all of their problem out on me but you carry my groceries and now I'm always laughing and I love you”

“This is the last time I'm asking you this. Put my name at the top of your list. This is the last time I'm asking you why. You break my heart in the blink of an eye”
Holy Ground: Elmax (Max’s POV)
“Spinning like a girl in a brand new dress. We had this big wide city all to ourselves. We blocked the noise with the sound of 'I need you' and for the first time I had something to lose”
Sad Beautiful Tragic: Byler (Will’s POV)
“Distance, timing, breakdown, fighting, silence, the train runs off its tracks, kiss me, try to fix it, could you just try to listen? Hang up, give up. For the life of us we can't get back”
The Lucky One: Steve
“You had it figured out since you were in school. Everybody loves pretty, everybody loves cool”
Everything Has Changed: Byler (Mike’s POV)
“All I've seen since eighteen hours ago is green eyes and freckles and your smile in the back of my mind making me feel like”
Starlight: Ronance (Nancy’s POV)
“He said, "Look at you, worrying so much about things you can't change. You'll spend your whole life singing the blues if you keep thinking that way"”
Begin Again: Jancy (Nancy’s POV)
“But you throw your head back laughing like a little kid. I think it's strange that you think I'm funny, 'cause he never did”
The Moment I Knew: Mileven (El’s POV)
“You should've been there. Should've burst through the door with that "Baby, I'm right here" smile and it would've felt like a million little shining stars had just aligned and I would've been so happy”
Come Back…Be Here: Byler (Mike’s POV)
“And this is when the feeling sinks in. I don't wanna miss you like this”
Ronan: Hopper
“I remember the drive home when the blind hope turned to crying and screaming, "Why?" Flowers pile up in the worst way, no one knows what to say”
Nothing New: Nancy
“They tell you while you're young "Girls, go out and have your fun" Then they hunt and slay the ones who actually do it”
Better Man: Will and Jonathan to Lonnie
“And I see the permanent damage you did to me”
Babe: Stancy (Steve’s POV)
“Big mistake, you broke the sweetest promise that you never should have made”
Message In A Bottle: Byler (Mike’s POV)
“I know that you like me and it's kinda frightenin'. Standing here waitin', waitin' and I became hypnotized by freckles and bright eyes. Tongue tied”
I Bet You Think About Me: Stancy (Nancy’s POV)
“But you know what they say, you can't help who you fall for and you and I fell like an early spring snow”
Forever Winter: Nancy to Mike
“He says he doesn't believe anything much he hears these days. He says, "Why fall in love, just so you can watch it go away?". He spends most of his nights wishing it was how it used to be”
Run: Byler (Mike’s POV)
“So you laugh like a child and I'll sing like no one cares. No one to be, no one to tell”
The Very First Night: Jancy (Nancy’s POV)
“My friends all say they know everything I'm going through. I drive down different roads but they all lead back to you”
All Too Well (10mv): Mileven (El’s POV)
“And maybe we got lost in translation. Maybe I asked for too much. But maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up”
Eyes Open: Mike
“The tricky thing is yesterday we were just children playing soldiers just pretending. Dreaming dreams with happy endings”
Safe And Sound: Jonathan to Will
“Don't you dare look out your window, darling, everything's on fire. The war outside our door keeps raging on. Hold onto this lullaby even when the music's gone”

Welcome back to "Jace has Stranger Things and Taylor Swift brainrot." On today's episode: Red. I'm going kinda out of order, but I honestly think I'll end up doing every album so if you want to see a specific album, let me know
State of Grace: Steddie. "I never saw you coming" "You were never a saint, and I've loved in shades of wrong" They both can be mean and tough, but they were so soft around each other almost immediately
Red: Stancy, from Steve's POV. The relationship was honestly toxic, but it was filled with adrenaline and most likely Steve's first real love. Losing her was hard, since he loved her so strongly. I'm also a "Steve's emotions are too big for his body" person so I might be projecting
Treacherous: Lumax. Max grew up without a strong sense of what a healthy relationship should look like. Her stepdad sucked and was likely awful to her Mom. She's scared of what love and letting people in her bubble mean. Then you add the fact Billy straight up told her to avoid Lucas but she couldn't resist. Then Lucas warning her that getting involved with him could be dangerous. It's not safe on paper, but she loves him
I Knew You Were Trouble: Stancy, from Steve's side. I promise not all the breakup songs will be Stancy. But the line "the saddest fear comes creeping in that you never loved me, or her, or anyone" paired with the fight, her inability to tell Steve she loves him, the strain with Jonathan in season 4. It just fits so well
All Too Well: Mike and El. "Any time now, he's gonna say it's love. You never called it what it was, til we were dead and gone and buried, checked the pulse and come back swearing it's the same." "You kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath" and Mike literally keeping her a secret at first. "I'm a crumbled up piece of paper" as an analogy to the letters. "Maybe we got lost in translation" and El feeling like she isn't even the same species as Mike. "The idea you had of me, who was she? A never-needy ever, lovely jewel whose shine reflects on you" Need I continue?
22: Season 3 Elmax at the mall. Just being teenage girls, the way they deserve. Also, imagine them having a sleepover, dancing around screaming this song while Hopper's at work one night. Adorable
I Almost Do: Jopper. I think the idea that Joyce waited for Hopper, for him to mature or whatever it was, and finally had to stop waiting. It tore them both apart, but I think Joyce would have had a similar reaction to this song; through Lonnie (or however you spell his name), Bob. Everything
We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together: Lumax. My on-again-off-again OTP. Another big slumber party song. They will get back together though, let's be honest
Stay Stay Stay: Platonic Stobbin. I just know Robin would be horrible in an actual fight, she'd get so ready for someone to leave and just snap at them. Steve would try to make her laugh once they sit down to talk it out to relieve the tension. In Steve's eyes, everyone he loves leaves, but Robin stays
The Last Time: Byler. Will has had to beg Mike to give him some attention lately, like in season 4 with the letter fight. "The is the last time I'm asking you this, put my name at the top of your list" "You break my heart in the blink of an eye" "This is the last time I say it's been you all along"
Holy Ground: Platonic Stancy. Like, they've both moved on and have each other as friends in their lives. I love the idea of Steddie and Ronance, with Steve and Nancy dancing together at their weddings
Sad Beautiful Tragic: Jancy. They only started hanging out because of tragedies. Their relationship has only existed because of horrible things, but they found beauty in it. "Distance, timing, breakdown, fighting" and "Could you just try to listen?" with the fight in season 3 and them living on opposite sides of the country in season 4.
The Lucky One: Steve. "You had it figured out since you were in school, everybody loves pretty, everybody loves cool" Everyone is quick to tell him he's got it good since he has a rich family and was Mr. Popular, but he's lonely. "Your lover in the foyer doesn't even know you." "You don't feel pretty, you just feel used" "You wonder if you'll make it out alive"
Everything Has Changed: Lumax!! "All I've seen since 18 hours ago is green eyes, and freckles and your smile in the back of my mind" "All I know is a simple name and everything as changed" from Lucas's pov. "All my walls stood tall, painted blue but I'll take 'em down and open up the door for you" "All I know is a new found grace. All my days, I'll know your face" from Max
Starlight: Robin. I think Robin would love space and the stars. We know she loves music, and I think she'd like to dance too. Also the line "worrying so much about things you can't change. You'll spend your whole life singing the blues if you keep thinking that way" fits her so well. And the line "He's talking crazy, dancing with me. We could get married, have ten kids and teach them how to dream" reads to me as Robin playfully joking about Steve's old crush on her, and I think the two of them would totally hang out on Robin's prom night, but Steve would still make her dance because everyone deserves an awkward prom slow dance
Begin Again: Max, not necessarily about a relationship though. This song makes me think of Max's damaged relationship with men and the party helping her heal that. Billy was abusive, her stepdad sucked. We see Steve be that protective figure where Billy was the opposite. Hopper would totally also take her under his wing and show her what a father figure should be. The boys in the party treat her as an equal. They think she's fierce and funny and beautiful, but they treat her as a person too. She's not used to that; the men in her life haven't been good to her. But they're showing her how worthy she is
The Moment I Knew: Byler. I love Mike, but he's severely dropped the ball for Will. Will was so excited to see him in season 4, but he's hardly paying attention to him before everything happens. Add the fact that season 4 should have been over Will's birthday
Come Back... Be Here: Steddie. "I told myself don't get attached." "I don't want to miss you like this" "If I had known what I'd known now, I never would've played so nonchalant" "I can't help but wish you took me with you" "This is falling in love in the cruelest way" "This is falling for you and you are worlds away"
Girl At Home: Honestly, Murray. Why? I Don't know. But it's him.
Ronan: Hopper (I'm sorry) I think we often forget he lost his daughter, and not only that, he blames himself. The little memories we see show how much he loved her.
Better Man: Max about Billy. She wanted to love him but he was so horrible to her and we see in season 4 how she does miss him. "Talking down to me like I'd always be around, push my love away like it was some kind of loaded gun" "I wish it wasn't 4 am standing in the mirror saying 'you know you had to it' I know the bravest thing I ever did was wrong"
Nothing New: Nancy. "Girls go out and have your fun' then they hunt and slay the ones who actually do it" Nancy tried to be a teenage girl and lost her best friend, blames herself for it, got slutshammed to the whole town, and became a monster hunter. She deals with the most sexism, both from other characters and the fandom. "what will become of me once I lost my novelty" "how can a person know everything at 18 and nothing at 22?" "She'll know the way and then she'll say she got the map from me" about Holly or Erica, and feeling so conflicted because these girls look up to her but she feels like a mess who shouldn't be a goal to reach. Especially for Erica, since she got roped into the Upside Down stuff so young.
The other vault songs don't really match in my opinion, so this is all for today

A lot of people are gonna be mad but I don’t hate Stancy. Yes season one and season two Stancy. But they were kids then who knew literally nothing about being in a relationship or what they wanted from a relationship (especially Steve and ESPECIALLY Nancy) HOWEVER
They’re grown now. They respect eachother now as badass adults rather than some teen they were gushing over in the halls, they respect eachother now as people rather than just something pretty to fill their spare time.
This is the whole Highschool Sweethearts trope that everyone loves so much so like… ??
Like, dating in highschool but separating because of something, usually it’s college but this is a fantasy show with monsters. They were discovering themselves and growing up in something that people don’t experience, their story is going to be different than everyone else’s.
And as for her relationship with Johnathan, it’s just as doomed as Stancy was in the beginning. Because their relationship wasn’t built off of actual genuine feelings for one another. They bonded over trauma and that was it, Y’know? Like they were cute and all in the beginning but then they got through their trauma.
Steve doesn’t want to stay in one place he wants to go on vacations and adventures with his children. Johnathan would rather just go to college in California with Argyle (no shade there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s just not what Nancy wants. She doesn’t want to be stuck in one place like her parents, in a loveless marriage)
I just think Steve and Nancy, now that they’ve grown and become their own people, are more compatible. Steve has gotten over his need to satisfy his parents, Nancy’s dealt with her grief over Barbara (one of the main reasons she dumped Steve), they’ve been out in the world and understood how it works, how you have to work to make things work out and that it’s not gonna be easy.
Basically what I’m saying is I wouldn’t be opposed to Stancy being endgame.
I am absolutely not dismissing other ships, I love them all (except mileven and byler sorry not sorry) I’m just giving my input lol
one thing that makes me pretty certain that stancy is going to be endgame is the true love quote. if stancy really was a plot device ship, they wouldn’t have been given a line with so much weight. and more significantly, the duffers chose to give this line to the couple whose relationship was narratively doomed from the beginning, that struggled with saying i love you, and whose love for each other was so notably dismissed in s2 during the “we like steve…but we don’t love steve” scene. no matter how much the fandom tries to dismiss it, the true love quote is not a throwaway line by any means. but rather it’s the writers acknowledging that there is something between steve and nancy and taking their relationship seriously, arguably for the first time.

Green - Jealousy
Day #4 for Stancy Week: Jealousy. I had a lot of fun writing this and developing Nancy’s sassy, jealous side that we didn’t get to see in s1 but hopefully will in s2. They’re both hilariously cute. Enjoy :)
@stancy-week
The amount of icy glares Nancy was shooting towards Steve and Sarah from across the hallway was so considerable it was a wonder they both weren’t frozen to the ground. They had been talking and giggling for the past two minutes against Sarah’s locker, completely unaware of Nancy’s gaze further down at her own locker. Steve was allowed to talk to anyone he wanted, of course, but did it have to be her? Everyone knows she sleeps around with any guy she wants, no matter if they were in a relationship or not. Who the hell did he think he was talking to that skank? And who did SHE think she was talking to MY boyfriend? Nancy was already stressed enough with finals coming up next week and now this. She took a few deep breaths and tried to brush her increasing annoyance off but kept an eye on them still. Steve said something that made Sarah burst into laughter and put her hand on his arm, which made Nancy snap and slam her locker closed. Screw that.
Green jealousy moved her quickly and efficiently across the hallway, a determined and confident step in her stride. She was no longer the timid girl who would’ve stood by and watched the exchange without confrontation. She had grown since losing Barb and fighting the Demagorgon and it made her stronger, more aware of how precious the world was as well as those in it. She wasn’t about to let this slide.
Reaching Steve’s side, she greeted him with a “hey” and placed her hand on his arm, just as Sarah had done, in a way to stake her claim. He turned towards her and his eyes lit up, which made Nancy feel only a tiny bit better. “Hey, Nance!”
Before she said anything else, she fixed her eyes on Sarah and reached up on her toes to kiss Steve. It lasted longer than usual as Nancy kept her lips on his but Steve didn’t seem to mind. When she pulled away, she fixed her gaze on Sarah again, silently letting her know the boy next to her was clearly taken, in case it wasn’t obvious.
“What are you guys talking about?”
Sarah plastered on a smile and shrugged, seemingly unfazed by Nancy’s bold display of affection. “Oh, just finals.”
Nancy held back a scoff. She doubted that. No one smiled that much when discussing finals week, but she nodded anyway. “Well, I’ll see you guys later,” Sarah said, throwing one more smile towards Steve before flipping her hair and flouncing away down the hallway, her short skirt bouncing up and down. Nancy rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to Steve.
“So, ready to study at Jonathan’s?” She chose not to question him about Sarah. She had more pressing matters to attend to and she wanted to prove to herself, more than anyone, that it wasn’t a big deal.
Steve grimaced. “Uh, yeah, listen. I can’t tonight. I got some family stuff.”
“Is everything ok?” Nancy asked, trying not to look or sound suspicious.
“Yeah, everything’s cool. My dad just wants me home right away for some reason,” he shrugged in vague explanation. Nancy narrowed her eyes, not believing it for a second, but decided not to question him about it.
“Ok, I guess.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” Steve said, kissing her cheek and walking away, leaving Nancy confused and slightly hurt. She shook her head and set off to find Jonathan.
The next day, Nancy was at her locker packing up her things for the day. She and Steve were supposed to study at her house later, without Jonathan this time. It was Joyce’s birthday so he and Will were taking her out to dinner. At least he had actual family stuff going on, unlike Steve who no doubt lied about his excuse. Nancy had just zipped up her bag when Sarah approached her, all long legs and short skirt that seemed impossibly shorter than yesterday. Honestly, how was that even allowed in school?
“Hey, Nancy. Steve asked me to give this to you,” she said and handed her a folded up piece of paper. Nancy grabbed it and read.
Meet me. Library. - Steve
Nancy smiled and looked up to give Sarah her thanks but she was already gone. Shrugging, Nancy obeyed Steve’s instructions and made her way to the library. It’s vacancy was dwindling as various kids made their way out for the day while only a few remained. Nancy searched for Steve unsuccessfully until she spotted him leaning up against the wall next to an open door and holding a brown paper bag. He looked good in jeans, a white t-shirt and the leather jacket she had gotten him for Christmas. She allowed herself a moment to admire him until he saw her. When their eyes locked, he smiled a boyish grin and motioned her over.
“Hey,” he greeted when she got to him.
“Hi. What’s that?” She pointed to the bag in Steve’s hands and he held it up for her to see.
“It’s your ‘Finals Week Survival Kit’.”
Indeed, the words were scrawled on the bag in pen. Nancy couldn’t hold back the grin on her face, especially since Steve looked so proud of his little gift. “I know you’ve been freaking out the past couple days so I thought this might help. It’s also why I couldn’t study with you and Jonathan last night. I had to pick up the stuff before the store closed. Sorry again,” he sheepishly explained. Nancy waved him off, took the bag from his hands, and peered inside.
“There’s Smarties to make you smarter… duh. Nerds because you kind of are one… in a cute way,” he quickly added when Nancy shot him a look. “You’ve also got gum because I know it helps you concentrate, Pringles because who doesn’t love Pringles, Twinkies because I know they’re your favorite, and an apple. I usually associate apples with school so I put that in there.”
“Steve, this is sweet. Thank you,” she giggled and reached up to kiss his lips. “But why are we here? I thought we were studying at my place?”
He put his arm around her shoulders and led her into the private study room. “I thought this would be better.” Nancy was confused. She had tried to reserve the study room for days in preparation for finals but the sign-up sheet was always full. She set the survival kit down on the table and looked at him for an explanation.
“Sarah was able to reserve this for us every day next week after school. She helps out at the library.” Steve explained. Nancy quirked her eyebrow at the vision of Sarah Weston being anywhere near a library. “I know, totally weird but there you go,” Steve chuckled, seemingly reading her mind.
“So that’s why you were talking to her after school yesterday?”
“Yeah.”
“She wasn’t flirting with you?”
“Flirting with me? Nancy, no,” Steve rolled his eyes as if it was the most ridiculous notion in the world. Nancy crossed her arms in defense.
“Well, it certainly looked that way,” she replied. Steve frowned for a moment when suddenly his head perked up and an amused smile formed on his lips.
“Wait… were you jealous?”
Nancy paused before throwing her arms out in embarrassment. “I mean, God Steve, she was practically about ready to jump you right then and there. And everybody knows her reputation with the guys at this school.”
Steve was full on grinning at this point. “You were jealous!” he said and slowly made his way towards her. A devilish smirk formed on his lips. “That’s kinda hot,” he added as he grabbed her hips and pulled her to him so she was flush against his body. Nancy instinctively relaxed in his hold and reached up to grip the lapels of his leather jacket.
“Well it’s not like you’re the hottest guy at school or anything,” she muttered, slightly embarrassed by her admission. She felt her cheeks grow hot and was certain they were a light shade of pink. Steve let out a soft “hmm” in amusement.
“You’re so cute,” he said while drawing figure eights on her lower back with his fingers.
“Shut up,” Nancy flushed but smiled nonetheless.
“Hmm. Okay,” Steve shrugged and dove for her lips, silencing them both as per his girlfriend’s request.
