Pinch hits will be posted on this tumblr.
If you default and your creator also defaults, your assignment will still go out for pinch hit but we will not delay reveals if you don’t get a gift.
If you are “no show” at deadline, or the mods find you with an incomplete placeholder after the deadline, you will be banned from participating in Jason Todd-centric Exchange next year.
If you need additional time to finish your assignment, you can message the mods and ask for a 3-day extension.
When will the reveals happen?
Works will be revealed when everyone who fulfilled their assignment has a gift. Please leave kudos and comments on your gift(s). If you aren’t sure what to say, a simple “Thank you for the gift!” is fine.
How do I contact the mods?
To contact the mods, please use the “Ask the mods” option on this blog, message sasheneskywalker on tumblr, sashene on discord or [email protected].
Please be respectful toward other participants and keep things civil and polite.

Jfc let me touch this before some weird conspiracy theory pops up
On the whole debacle, since it's revving up-
• Silvër and her pack (what everyone is calling "the p-shifters of 2020") are not All P-shifters Ever, and were disliked by other members of the community. She deleted and remade because other shifters were getting on her case, and eventually went silent because she was unable to handle the pressure. Her pack has never been "every p-shifter", nor does every shifter agree with her opinions.
- Additionally, most shifters don't approve of abusers or cultists in the community. It's why Silvër was ran out of it, along with other abusers. It's why when dodgy people appear shifters tend to avoid them or disperse elsewhere, and why shifters do warn others about cults and unhealthy groups.
• "P-shifting has never been used in a derogatory sense": It is literally considered a trait of "fake therians" in some spaces. It is not a positive thing in the therian and otherkin community to be a p-shifter. People get banned for claims of p-shifting. People literally refused to interact with Xem directly because the post was made by a p-shifter. This is the definition of derogatory.
• Reclaiming a term: if by "reclaiming" you mean "using it in a way that isn't abusive" then actually yeah, I don't have an issue with that. Which is what I've seen most who want to reclaim the term want to do so for. Like, p-shifting doesn't inherently equal abuser - there's multiple groups who have used the term without forming unhealthy groups or packs, so it's not inherent to p-shifting as a concept. (See the Were vs. Therian debate and Social Media Sites part of The Shifter Timeline.)
• I thought p-shifters weren't delusional! You're changing your tune!": I can't speak for Silvër and her pack's views, but I still don't believe all shifters are delusional. While the definition of clinical lycanthropy necessitates delusions, a p-shifter is ANYBODY who claims to physically shift. P-shifters can't ALL be delusional because there's a wide variety of reasons why someone (even incorrectly!) might consider themselves a shifter. I've written about it before. I personally don't have a problem with delusional or schizospec people considering themselves p-shifters as long as other shifters aren't pushed out of the community, something I mentioned when I said, "as long as other shifters aren't defined out."
▪︎The claim that "P-shifters are purposefully targeting endels and delusional people": How? The shifters here (excluding Silvër and her defunct group) are not a pack. There's no concerted hivemind or effort to do anything, most of us are quite scattered honestly. As far as I'm aware most of us either post in our own tags, have warnings for delusional and clinical folk, or block them. This also goes both ways, so delusional folk can (and do!) also block us if they see something they cannot handle.
If we wanted to target endels, wouldn't we be posting in their tags? Wouldn't we be privately contacting endels with sensitive materials? Wouldn't we be making a concerted effort to make their lives miserable? And for what - an acutely psychotic person is uncontrollable (from what I know) so making them suffer in that fashion would only appeal to a sadistic abuser. Yet this is online, meaning that anybody trying to abuse others in that fashion would not even get to see that. How does that benefit anybody?
Those using the p-shifter label currently seem to be doing so because they're uncomfortable with the label of "clinical" or implying that their shifting is in any way false. Which tbh is fair, and since I do feel they have grounds to the label (it's not like they weren't already considered p-shifters by the community in some instances) I'm not bothered by them "reclaiming it". That's my reasoning, anyway.

I’m too late to submit, but with the shenanigans happening with takes that dont harm anyone, I’m curious. Are there any takes that you decided won’t be in the tournament?
You're not too late to submit! If there's something you want to get off your chest, the form is still open!
But as for the other part of your question, that's something I've been thinking about as well.
Please read the whole thing - it's important, and there's a poll at the end because I need everyone's feedback.
From the beginning I wanted this blog to be a place where people can share any controversial opinion they have, and that hasn't changed. But at the same time, this is still a light-hearted tournament blog, and even though I've fucked up in the past, I always try desperately to make sure that no one ever feels uncomfortable on this blog because they see something potentially triggering.
And, even though it's been so long that I wouldn't blame you for forgetting, this is still technically a tournament blog, and there'll be a bracket with matchups at some point.
And there's no way I can include serious takes like those in a tournament bracket -
I'm not going to make you guys vote between mental health issues and homophobia, with the winner going on to face chicken smoothies in the finals.
I can't do that. I won't.
But at the same time, I also don't want to tell people they can't submit takes like that. Serious issues still deserve to be discussed, and from the beginning, I wanted this blog to be place where people can share any opinion on any topic, no matter what it is.
I've received a lot of takes relating to a number of very serious topics - including some extremely controversial takes on those issues, that many people would find offensive and/or triggering - and I think having a forum where people can share opinions, debate those takes and discuss more sensitive topics is important as well.
But I'm not willing to post those potentially offensive takes on this blog. I want everyone to be able to enjoy it.
So, here's the problem:
From the beginning I wanted this blog to be two things -
A place on the internet where no one would ever feel unsafe or unwelcome
A place where people feel comfortable sharing any opinion anonymously, no matter what it is.
And now I've come to the sobering realisation that those two things just cannot co-exist.
So, I've been torn for a while over how to deal with this - but now I think I might have thought of an alternative that I want to get everyone's opinions on.
I could create a side blog purely dedicated to submissions that I think are too sensitive for this main blog.
That way, people will still be able to submit and discuss those submissions - and anyone who doesn't want to see that kind of content can just block that blog and enjoy this one without worrying about seeing anything that they're not comfortable with.
When I say purely dedicated, I mean that other than an untagged master post explaining the purpose of the blog, it would only post polls and nothing else. It wouldn't be a tournament - just polls, like the ones we've been doing, except this time it would be about issues that should be taken seriously.
Asks would be closed, and all the polls would remain completely untagged other than a specific tag for the blog and any relevant content warnings. Also, there would be no posts from me, no pictures and no joke responses - just a simple 'Do you agree? Yes/No' for every poll.
It would just be a queue ticking along, posting maybe a poll a day at a scheduled time, and if you want to discuss those topics, you absolutely can - and if you don't want to see it, you don't have to.
Meanwhile, this blog can then be fully dedicated to goofy shenanigans and vicious ratios.
The only alternative would be just to update the rules and ban those kind of submissions outright - but I feel on some level that would go against the reason why I started this blog in the first place.
But I do want to get your opinions on this.
Please let me know what you guys think.

I've been seeing a lot of talk about the Community Labels debacle, and I figured I really need to make a post about why it's particularly fucked up that it's happening.
First things first: some definitions. Explicit content and mature content are two different categories, for the intents and purposes of Tumblr's ToS.
Explicit content filtering
Implemented in 2018, as a direct result of the porn ban.
Algorithmic. One filter checks at time of post. A second checks once the post is complete. At any time after a post is made, any user can flag a post as explicit.
Allegedly, flagged posts/blogs are reviewed by a real human, as posts/blogs that get reported aren't yanked instantly.
Both blogs and posts can be flagged as explicit.
If a blog is flagged for explicit content, its avatar and header are censored, it's removed from search results, cannot be viewed at blog level on PC, and its posts can generally only be viewed by appearing on the dash of a user who already follows it.
The only way a user can toggle whether they see explicit content on their dash is to simply not follow explicit blogs.
Explicit content doesn't abide by Tumblr's ToS. As such, having too many posts flagged as explicit can get the blog and/or entire account banned.
Community labels (AKA "Mature Content")
Implemented in 2023, part of "bringing back the tiddy"
Not algorithmic. OP can mark the post themselves to benefit other users. At any time, literally any user can flag a post as "missing a community label."
Besides being broadly labeled "Mature," OP can additionally mark a post as specifically containing sexual, violent, or drug themed. To label a post as mature, OP doesn't have to specify. If a user that is not OP flags a post as missing a community label, that user cannot specify what mature theme(s) they believe the post contains.
Allegedly, the flagging system is algorithmic. If any user flags a post as missing a label, the system will automatically mark that post as mature.
Only posts can have community labels. If you're viewing a blog on PC and receive a "This blog may contain mature content" warning, that means that one or more posts loading on page 1 of the blog have a community label. Both original posts and reblogs will trigger this message.
Most users can change the visibility of mature content in their settings, and can change these settings to make certain types of mature content visible but hide others. On Android, users can do so in the app, and all users who are not minors can change these settings in a browser. iOS users cannot change the visibility of mature content in the app at this time. Mature content is hidden by default to new users, and cannot be toggled on for users who are minors.
Mature content abides by Tumblr's ToS. At this time, I'm not sure whether a user can get banned for consistently neglecting to apply community labels to their posts, but I do know that as long as it follows all other community guidelines, mature content will not get a user banned.
The explicit content algorithm has been notoriously buggy and inconsistent from the beginning. For example, I personally had a toy duck marked as explicit without appeal. This algorithm has always been heavily skewed to flagging LGBT posts--including text posts, and including posts that didn't even contain "Mature Content"--to the point that Tumblr recently settled a lawsuit for discrimination allegations. Entire tags were hidden from searchability, and just adding certain tags to a post could get it flagged. I'm not sure whether it's gotten all that much better.
Now, the current issue is with the Community Labels. Transwomen in particular seem to be disproportionately getting swaths of posts marked Mature, and appeals aren't removing erroneous labeling. The posts can be about literally anything, and be any type of post, but most commonly it's transwomen's selfies.
The only algorithmic way for a post to become flagged as "missing a community label" is if a user adds "NSFW" to the post's tags, either when OP makes or edits it, or when any user reblogs it. Every other way a post will gain a Mature Content label is user driven.
I believe this can only mean one of two things: 1. Transphobes are abusing the "missing a community label" button to purposely hide transwomen's posts from minors and people who've opted out of mature content. If appeals are in fact handled by human review, that means staff is either just as prejudiced and/or is siding with the transphobes. 2. Or, staff is testing a feature which will eventually algorithmically determine whether a post contains mature themes automatically, and their current algorithm is just as prejudiced as the one that dictates explicit content. If so, that means the company learned nothing from the discrimination lawsuit.
It could be both, but I'm inclined to believe this is the work of some particularly nasty transphobes, just based on how many screenshots I've seen of people's activity feeds where they suddenly get dozens of Community Label flag notifications for posts of ANY age. (Really, if it's people doing this, I'd say they're being rather immature, hm?)
If anyone has more information about the situation, please don't hesitate to add onto this post.
If this has been happening to you, you have my deepest sympathies, and I really hope that @staff fixes the issue with utmost priority. I know that the staff blog made a post recently that mentions that they know there's a serious problem with Community Labels right now, so hopefully that means they're actually working on a fix.

Welcome to Yanderemuses, before proceeding, you must read the warnings as well as disclaimers.
- It is your responsibility to read through those throughly. I have provided you with the information, ignoring it is your choice and therefore out of my hands if something goes wrong regarding the warnings.
The Yanderes eagerly await meeting new people and finding someone that they can keep their eyes on. The rules of interaction are listed below and are not optional, all must be followed or else a roleplay will not begin.
•Only admins and muses over the age of 18 can interact in any sense
• Face claims must fall into an acceptable age range to be accepted (do not try to put a '90 liner with a '00 liner or vice versa)
• All face claims must have a profile attached, this account is not open to yn's as of now
• All muses wishing to get with a yandere and have said relationship moved onto the dashboard must be monogamous. The Yanderes do not like sharing.
• Roleplays can remain only in dms and not be moved to dash, but you must state that in the beginning of that conversation if that is what you want. There will be limited spaces for this.
• have the right to deny a ship or a roleplay all together if I do not think it will work out.
• I will not write scat or piss play, nor will I write smut in little spaces. You must let me know if your muse has a little space in the beginning of the conversation, I will be picky about this.
• Most of the Yanderes are not nice coded. Do not complain about their personalities if you volunteer to interact with them, ie tag this account in your posts or reblog one of my posts
• If you flirt with a yandere, lead a yandere on, or show any signs of interest and then get with a different muse or bot, don't expect kindness in return.
• Your mental health is your responsibility. If you cannot handle a yandere chat, do not interact.
• Communication with me through a chat, especially in intense scenes, is highly encouraged
• If you plan on being inactive for a long period of time, please be courteous and let me know or else will assume you no longer wish to continue the thread and it will be deleted
• After a thread is deleted, you must start over if I agree to try again
• One like and one word responses are banned.
I do try to write at least a paragraph, ask for you to write enough for me to respond to as well as enough so that you contribute to the plot, I will tell you if your response was lacking and you are free to do the same with mine.
• For a ship or roleplay to start, admins must communicate about a chat and personal information beforehand
• The only other messaging app I have is telegram, you are more than welcome to ask me for that.
• l've seen this implemented a lot, so I thought I should do it to. If you tag me and I tag you (mutual tags), I expect you to interact if you expect me to interact. It's a fair agreement and if you cannot respect it, do not tag me and I will not tag you. It's simple.

~*~Rune Factory Secret Santa 2022 sign-ups have now begun!!!~*~
Hello again everyone! I’m Merry, and I hope we can all come together to once again spread holiday happiness and cheer!
Please read all of the guidelines carefully!
This event has a PG-13 and below rating, meaning absolutely no nsfw. If you think what you made is questionable, it’s probably best not to post it.
Please make sure you are able to finish your gift! If you sign up and cannot complete it for any reason, contact me asap so that I can find a backup Santa. If you did not receive your gift last year, please message me immediately upon signing up to let me know.
Have your submit box or IMs open, please! This is the best way for me to send you all of the information you need to know once you are assigned someone. If I cannot contact you, you may be disqualified. (if you signed up last year and dropped out with no warning, I may not accept your application, so please message me first!)
If you sign up and then change your username and do not notify me, I will try to track you down once. If I cannot find you, then you may be disqualified from the event. Please be sure to keep me updated on any username changes!
Please, do your very best to give your giftee what their heart desires! Do your best to make their wish come true!
This shouldn’t need to be said, but if I find out you’ve used stolen art in your gift or put anything nsfw in the tag, you will be banned from participating in the future. Please make original gifts!
Sign-ups will remain open until November 15th at 11:59 PM EST. You will receive your match-up shortly after.
Once you receive your match-up, you will have about a month to get your gift completed! You are allowed to post your gift any time between December 20th and New Year’s Eve. I will message everyone throughout the month (especially as it gets closer to the deadline) with reminders to get their gifts done.
All of that being said, the best way to give your giftee their gift is to post it publicly, and tag it “RFSS2022″. I will reblog it here. If you do not wish for your gift to be public, then please submit it to me so that I may send it to them privately. It’s preferred that you do not send it to them directly, mainly so I will know that you completed your gift and don’t assign a back-up, but if you MUST send it to them directly, please let me know once you do so.
~*~FAQ~*~
Are crossovers allowed? What about OCs? Crossovers within the Rune Factory and/or the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons universe are allowed as well as Rune Factory-based OCs.
-What forms of media are accepted for this event? Because I had some issues in the past with a few people, I have no choice but to narrow down the criteria to fanart and fanfiction. HOWEVER, that does not mean edits and videos are no longer allowed! You can still submit them so long as they have some sort of original aspect (like a video of a fan-made in-game scene, incorrect quote-styled edits, etc.), I will accept those into the “fanfiction” category. All that being said, if you’ve participated in the past with different forms of media than listed above, please contact me and we can work something out!(please message me if you have any questions about this)
Please put as much effort into this as possible. Your giftee would probably be disappointed with a blurry drawing on notebook paper taken with a camera, so I will not be accepting something like that as a final gift.
-I’m a fanfic writer, how long should my story be? I would recommend 1000 words minimum. There’s no word cap, but please keep it reasonable.
-Can I send my giftee an anonymous ask if I need more details about their gift? Yes, absolutely! If they do not have anonymous enabled, feel free to send me a message and I’ll ask for you.
-I want to participate but I don’t have a tumblr. Thankfully you don’t need one to participate, all you need to provide is a form of contact!
-I got assigned the same person as I have before! This is a small fandom, so that may happen with an event with many of the same people signing up year after year. I’m only one person, and I cannot remember who has been assigned to who before, so if this happens and you’d like someone else, please feel free to let me know!
-I got assigned something that I’m not familiar with! I use a random number generator to assign match-ups and I do try to fix match-ups that are incompatible, but sometimes I may miss something. If you are an artist, I may have to end up assigning you something RF1 based when you have only played RF4 based on how many signups there are, but when it comes to writers, I try my hardest to make sure they are familiar with the source material. Still, if you are assigned something or someone you are not comfortable with, please let me know ASAP and I will work on getting you switched.
Feel free to ask any additional questions, and they will be answered as soon as possible! Happy gifting! ~*~*~[SIGN UPS ARE HERE]~*~*~

I’ve been having conversations with an acquaintance of mine who’s very against taboo content. So like, I managed to swing her around to dead dove stuff in fic since fanfic doesn’t effect real life and those fics are always tagged. But she isn’t swayed on dark content in mainstream films and media. She talked to me about the Netflix movie 365 Days which had a lot of women’s groups protesting against it. It’s pretty misogynistic and glorifies sexual assault so I can see why it would be concerning that it’s one of the top streamed things on Netflix. And the show 13 reasons why was apparently linked to an increase in suicides among teens (can’t find any ironclad research for this but it did promote suicide-for-revenge-and-lulz). Basically, I’ve been an anti-censorship person for fanfic forever but idk how to feel about censoring stuff like 365 days and 13rw. The groups that would like these shows to be censored do have a point...? I’m pretty young and I never took media literacy stuff so I feel like there’s a correct opinion here I’m not able to arrive at. Could you help me out?
Okay yes, let's talk about this! (A heads up to everyone that this post will obviously include discussions about suicide, along with murder and rape). (Also fanfic does affect real life, it's just not a 1:1 'this thing caused that crime' affect).
Firstly, I want to talk about a phenomenon called suicide contagion. We've known about suicide contagion for a long time, due to a novel published in 1774 published by Goethe, called The Sorrows of Young Werther. Werther, in the book, commits suicide in a particular way, and there was a spate of suicides of a similar nature among young men when the book was released. Suicide contagion for this reason is also known as 'the Werther Effect.'
This is still very debated in academia, but one strong conclusion that academia is generally showing about suicide contagion is that it does not affect anyone who wasn't likely to commit or attempt suicide anyway, what it does is influence is the manner in which the act occurs. Sadly, hundreds of people die by suicide every day, but most of the time we're not paying attention to those people, and if all of the folks influenced by Werther had killed themselves in more 'regular' ways no one would have found that act notable beyond their loved ones.
Suicide contagion research has been around for hundreds of years in both psychology and media studies (and also all the other ologies that hang around mass media). The general consensus is that works that feature suicide or even glorify suicide should not be banned outright, but that the content should be appropriately censored (i.e. not made available to babies and children etc.) and warned for with content warnings.
Now let's get to the bulk of my actual post, which talks about this from a broader perspective.
Generally speaking, there is no single 'correct' way of looking at things, except that it's usually safe to say that the two extremes of thought around banning media content are non-nuanced and the closest to being incorrect and uneducated. The first extreme is 'no one should be allowed to make or watch this (dark) content.' There's like a billion books, articles and more on why extreme censorship/banning is bad on every level for society (especially oppressed minorities), and a simple search on 'why is banning books etc. bad' will enlighten you.
The other extreme is 'everyone all the time should be allowed to see and access all (dark) content (even toddlers and children).' Clearly this isn't a solution either, because different types of media are more safely accessed by certain demographics who are (presumably) more educated and capable of handling what they're seeing.
The second thing to address is the fact that a single media property cannot remove someone's agency over their own actions. Multiple serial killers said they were inspired by TV's Dexter series, but they're still responsible for themselves and their agency. The show didn't hypnotise them. Those killers went to jail, the TV show creators didn't, that's an appropriate and correct allocation of responsibility, especially when you factor in all of Dexter's content warnings and its rating.
The same can be said for any show provided the content is appropriately warned for. This includes documentaries about sexual assault including helpline numbers at the beginning/end of their show. It means Law & Order placing 'disturbing themes' in their content warnings. It basically gives people a chance to have informed consent before watching a show (as does reading show summaries on Wikipedia, talking to friends to vet a show before watching it, or looking at one of the countless comprehensive warning/tag sites before engaging in a show.)
No show has the power to make a mentally well person kill themselves, or rape someone, or kill someone. You need to have significant things going on in your mind and environment already for those things to even be realistically considered or triggered. If we banned shows based on the rates they may have catalysed suicide, the news would have been banned a long time ago.
Don't get me wrong, 13 Reasons Why (esp first season) was highly problematic in part because it didn't give viewers a proper and rounded chance to have an informed take on what was happening. Education, imho, is the problem more than the content itself. If you let a viewer know there's content that can trigger someone, or isn't recommended for those struggling with depression (see my next paragraph though), then they can make an informed choice, similar to epilepsy warnings at the beginnings of video games. This is similar to how old Looney Toons videos now have very clear warnings about their old racist content. Rather than erase the past, they provide context and highlight how problematic and destructive it was, but they do that through education, not banning.
We know through multiple academic studies that 13RW contributed not only to an appearance of suicide contagion, but also created less severe symptoms of depression in those who watched, fewer incidences of suicidal ideation in many people (and self-harm), a decrease in social stigma due to raising awareness among teens about the kinds of things people can experience and the mental side effects, and a better awareness of suicide risk factors (See: One Less Reason Why: Viewing of Suicide-Themed Fictional Media is Associated with Lower Depressive Symptoms in Youth by Christopher J Ferguson - I'm not linking, I'm too tired). A study that surveyed 5,400 young adults and parents found that the majority of teens found the show beneficial to watch, and that many teens reported increased positive conversations with their parents and peers because of the show. Around 63-79% actually agreed that the depiction of the suicide scene was necessary. (See, among other things, 13 Reasons Why, Perceived Norms and Reports of Mental Health-Related Behaviour Change among Adolescent and Young Adult Viewers in Four Global Regions by Michael Carter, Drew Cingel, Alexis Lauricella and Ellen Wartella - there are more studies, I'm not linking them, I'm very tired lol. But the studies exist).
Like, generally speaking, we do censor already. 13RW isn't rated as an infant friendly show. It's not screened with kid's cartoons. It's already gone through a censorship board (folks need to learn the difference between censorship and banning). What your friend is talking about is banning content outright, which I don't agree with at all. And frankly you're not going to find many people with a media studies degree who generally agrees with banning outright (they're like the anti-vaxxers of media studies, lol, because it goes against the literal science that says clearly over and over again that we choose how we negotiate our relationship to the media. Yes, there are influences, but the media is not able to put a gun in someone's hand, or give someone the motivation of becoming a literal serial killer, or make a perfectly healthy person abruptly commit suicide. Asshole dudes have tried to use 'but TV / movies / this talkshow host made me do it' when it comes to rape. They go to jail. Our agency is everything.
No one's denying that media can't be problematic (every media piece is, including the ones without perceived 'dark content'), or that it doesn't influence us (it clearly does). But banning a single show, or someone's concept of 'dark themes' they personally don't like, when others are perfectly mature enough to handle them healthily, is not a useful way to approach questionable, difficult, challenging or controversial media, or media in plain bad taste. It's also incredibly condescending to the people who can interact with it healthily, and it removes support to those who are potentially helped by that piece of media existing.
Suicide contagion is a horrible phenomenon, but all signs point to the theory that these people could be catalysed by nearly anything, and that this isn't a strong enough to reason to ban a single show, especially in light of its actual overwhelming positive effects on the majority of viewers, and the useful worldwide discussions that happened around youth suicide and mental illnesses that happened as a result.
If we were all so truly weak to media with dark themes, we'd all be rapists, killers, or would have died by now. We also would have bought every product ever advertised to us.
(I didn't even get to 365 Days but *waves vaguely* I have to go have a heart scan now and I don't have time to keep writing an essay because I can clearly talk about this forever)
#asks and answers#anti anti#purity wank#media studies and mass communications#i don't know how to tag this i used to have better tags lmao#pia on media#pia on media studies#anyway those studies do exist along with like 5 others i didn't link#they're buried beneath all the frankly moral puritanical wank dslkafjdaks about this subject#because scaremongering about a show gets more hits than good science

Alright, I’ve had it up to here with all of these ‘anti-ao3′ posts every time the yearly donation drive comes around. Some of ya’ll truly do not understand nor realize just how lucky we are for having a fanfic site like the Archive. And some of you haven’t endured purges like Livejournal, FFNet, or Quizilla— oh, and the one that happened here on Tumblr not too recently in Dec of 2018. And it’s not like you can’t find a timeline of fandom purges from 1992-2019. Along with a list of fanwork content banned by different archives/companies.
AO3 is NON-PROFIT and VOLUNTEER RUNthey are NOT a greedy company that will delete decades of work at a drop of a hat without prior warning. No one makes money from the archive or its content. The OTW (Organization for Transformative Works) pays to host the archive and it takes a lot to keep these servers running. They don’t host advertising, and instead, they hold pledge drives to ask for support from the users.
Let’s be real for a second. Do any of you who are against the archive and what they do, really want to go back to the dark ages of being afraid that you’ll get sued if you post that 300-word drabble that you wrote at 2am? Yeah, you probably still do because you have no idea what you’re advocating for.
“Make your own archive,” you cry out as if the Archive wasn’t created for that exact reason.
“But they allow certain icky tags that I don’t like,” you screech into my ear as I shove a college-ruled sized paper into your face reading: OTW was created to work toward a future in which all fannish works are recognized as legal and transformative, and accepted as legitimate creative activity. (x)
“That doesn’t matter! I said I don’t like it and I want it taken down right now,” you scream while stomping your feet on the ground, jaw dropping when I pull out a mile-long scroll in large text: If a tag is found to have violated the Terms of Service in some way, we will never change the tags on a work or bookmark. (x)
So that one fic that grosses you out? Don’t read it, scroll right on through and continue on with your life. It cannot possibly harm any real people since it’s fictional. What’s the difference between an explicit horror novel at your local used bookstore VS a 100k+ recovery fix-it involving heavy-themed tropes? None, that’s what.
AO3 is against censorship and will never cherry-pick what can or cannot be allowed on the Archive if the TOS has not been violated, of course. If they were to do that (they won’t), then that would mean real people in real time would have to manually go through every flagged content. They thought that it if was worth protecting the things they loved, then it was worth protecting the things that they themselves don’t particularly like, too.
If you think BDSM is abuse (it fucking isn’t, the whole point is that it’s consensual for both parties and if not, that’s getting into abusive relationship territory), then what is to say that a fic that contains dom/sub undertones wouldn’t be considered under the same category? Yeah, that’s where censorship gets tricky and well, bad. You’d have thought that you’ve won your long-time battle, but turned out, your favorite fics would vanish in a blink of an eye. Just like FF.Net back in 2012!
Also, we do not need an app because then, AO3 would have to cave to Apple and Google’s strict guidelines that discourage anything from nsfw to rpf. Use the desktop version, use it on your mobile browser, and download fics to your phone.
Be grateful that AO3 exists.

Alright. So. Tumblr Had a New Update.
Hey guys, I'd like to talk about the new "Community Labels" thing that was just announced. I'm not sure exactly what this means, because quite frankly I don't trust this website not to just have us tag everything and then decide to do another purge, but I am "cautiously optimistic" as some have said about it.
The main takeaway is that I believe that people here can post erotic imagery (specifically fanart) again so long as it's given the correct label, thereby circumventing part of the infamous NS/FW ban - however, there hasn't been a word on an actual policy change regarding adult content as of right now, so I am awaiting news on that. (Erotic writing, on the other hand, has always been allowed, but it will also have to be labeled as well, just fyi.)
But, despite this lack of clarity, I do know one definite effect:
All "Mature Content" is now automatically Blurred/Hidden by default, which can be changed in your "Content You See" Settings (Here) on desktop (not sure about mobile).
It should be noted that this cannot be altered if you're a minor (understandable), but if you're not, I would highly recommend doing so. I know some of my posts will have mature warnings on them now (since I believe it's required when applicable).
Plus, this is Madness Combat; mature content (violence especially) is to be expected and it'd probably be better for all the artists/writers here if we could view all their stuff so we can interact with it haha. That's all for now, thank you. 🤟
[Original Announcement from Staff Linked Here]
#important#It appears to be shaping up to be more like Ao3 with the warnings.#I don't trust it very much though.

Uncensored
Fiction (noun)
1.) literature in the form of prose, especially novels, that describes imaginary events and people.
2.) something that is invented or untrue.
-----
Disclaimer: no real people were harmed in the creation of this fanwork (or any others.)
-----
Content Rating E: Explicit: only suitable for adults.
This post will discuss mature themes that requires rational thinking and an open-mind. Tread carefully.
Content Warnings: discussions of violence, death, and sex. Mentions of other "questionable" content. Acknowledgment that content you do not like probably exists.
-----
YKINMKATOK (or KINKTOMATO) (aka Your Kink Is Not My Kink (And That's OK): Kinks that you do not like exist. Their mere existence is not hurting you. Please feel free to click away from any subject matter that does not appeal to you.
SALS (aka Ship and Let Ship): ships that you do not like or outright hate exist. They are not hurting you by existing, no matter how "immoral" you believe them to be.
DL;DR (aka Don't Like, Don't Read): seriously, folks, there's a back button. Feel free to click it any time.
-----
Dead Dove; Do Not Read: I'm warning you, turn back now. This post is anti-censorship. If you cannot handle reading such content, now is the time to turn back. If you continue reading, do so at your own risk.
-----
Horror films have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. The really good stuff, too. Gore splattered on the screen. Genitalia hanging loose. Sex, and murder, hand-in-hand.
The primary reason for this was that my father wanted to watch horror films, and we as a family did what my father wanted. My mother never stopped it, because she didn't believe in censoring anything. The world is what it is; she was never going to hide us from any of it.
For years, my brother and I would cover our eyes with our hands when two characters so much as kissed onscreen. Not because our parents told us to; society had sunk its claws in early, regardless of my parents' will. We peeked between our fingers; we wanted to give the illusion of purity without actually partaking in it.
Our parents weren't always present when we watched horror films. As a child it would sometimes be just my brother and I watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Nightmare on Elm Street or the Chucky franchise.
I've never killed anyone. Not with a chainsaw, not with an axe, not with a gun, not with my hands. I've never killed anyone, ever. I've never wanted to. I don't even believe in the death penalty.
Being exposed to violent media never made me violent.
Did it alter me in any way, being exposed to such extreme media so young? Who knows. Maybe. I don't know who I would be without it. I've never known life without it. But I like to think I'm a decent person. I don't commit crimes. I try to be nice to people. I'm a hard worker. I'm pretty goofy.
It's also made me pretty anti-censorship and...well. Some people might see that as a crime; as a sin. And in that case, well, you might as well ban everything to prevent people like me from existing.
(You don't actually think that will work, do you?)
(I hope not; I did say this post was for adults only, didn't I?)
I read Flowers in the Attic...young. I was 9 or 10 maybe. It was before I discovered fanfiction. It never gave me unseemly feelings towards my brother or my parents; it never gave me the urge to lock up small children, or poison them.
At age 11, I discovered fanfiction. It was a happy accident from Googling "Harry Potter" and somehow stumbling on an explicit Drarry fic.
Should I have read that fic at age 11? No. But that's my fault for lying about my age. It's my parents' fault for not paying me any mind. It wasn't the fic's fault for existing.
The whole world isn't child-safe and it never will be. It's the responsibility of caretakers to mind their wards; not the world's responsibility to tiptoe around you and your rules.
The real world doesn't have content warnings. There is no tagging system for real life. And real life is much more dangerous than fanfiction.
Soon after reading that Drarry fic, I moved onto Snarry. I dove right into the deep end. I inhaled dead dove content at lightning speed. You couldn't pry me away from it.
11 year old Danni understood what an E rating meant. 11 year old Danni also understood what fiction meant.
I've never looked at a minor sideways. I've never wanted to. I've never touched anyone without clear and enthusiastic consent.
In fact, and this might be TMI, but I've only ever been with 2 people in my life. My first time was at age 18, with a guy I'd been with for a year and who I was engaged to.
All around, I was what one might call a "good kid"; I studied, I went to school, I didn't party, I didn't sneak out, I didn't do drugs. I skipped school once my senior year and other than that my worst crime was lying about my age to read questionable content.
Watching monsters onscreen and reading about them in books never made me a monster.
Or, well...I do spend my time writing underage stories, and non-con, and the occasional incest. I write infidelity and horrific angst. I write about morally questionable content, and that's as good as actually doing those things, right?
So if that's how you see it, maybe I am a monster. The monster putting words to page for others to read and enjoy.
If you're a wannabe monster hunter, and if fictional wrongdoing is as evil as real wrongdoing, then you might as well go after the easier target, right? You won't actually save the world that way, but you can pat yourself on the back for a job well done, I guess.
So while the torches and pitchforks are being prepped and the Tiktoks uploaded, I'm gonna go continue working on my very messed up porn. Just like I always have, and always will.
~Fin~

FAQ Masterpost
What exactly is a big bang?
>A big bang is a collaborative event between writers and artists to work together to make complementary work. Most of the time, the writer will work with the artist to have a scene drawn from their story, but it is truly up to the partnership to make something together!
>Partnerships can either be determined by the mods of the event, or you can enter the event with a friend for a predetermined partnership.
>Here’s a link to the TodoDeku Big Bang tumblr if you’d like to browse some examples!
Who can participate?
>For this bang, we are open to anyone joining who wants to participate! As long as they can write at least 2k words or create at least one piece of art* for the written work within the time frame specified, then they can participate!
>You may participate as a beta reader or pinch hitter writer/artist in place of an artist or writer role and gain access to the Discord server. You’ll just need to fill out the corresponding sign-up form!
Do I have to be accepted into this big bang?
>No! Unlike a zine, participants in a big bang do not need to go through an acceptance process. If you fill out our sign up form, you are automatically a participant! Do note, if you filled out our interest check, you will still need to sign up.
What is a pinch-hitter?
>If one of our artists or writers needs to drop out after partnerships have already been determined, we can turn to our pinch hitters to fill that spot so their partner is still able to participate in the event.
If I sign up as an artist, what qualifies as art?
> In order to be as inclusive as possible towards as many different types of 'art', we will be expanding the definition of what we will accept as art. Allowed art mediums include Illustrations (traditional and digital), Photo Edits, Video Edits, Podfic, Cosplay, Moodboards/ Collages, and Playlists. We are open to other forms of art not listed here, but please speak with a mod about it prior to beginning your work!
>Any piece(s) done for a work have to be a full illustration with a background and rendering, or the workload equivalent. If you are an artist seeking to create a non-illustration work for your partner and unsure what the workload equivalent may be, you can speak with a mod for clarity!
What are the requirements for writers?
>Based on our interest check, we will require writers to post at least 2k words for this event! Writers are free to write as much as they want, as long as 2k words are posted on their assigned posting date.
>Writers will provide the mods with a summary prior to partnership selection that artists can view to select which summaries they like the most.
When does this bang begin?
>Our creation period will start in January, as determined by our interest check. More specific dates will be listed on our schedule here.
>Things such as sign ups, summary selections, and partnership selections will happen prior to the creation period. Writers are free to begin their stories before the creation period starts, but cannot share information with artists prior to the creation period. We will outline all specific rules in our guidelines.
Is NSFW content allowed?
>Yes, we are allowing NSFW content! We will make sure that any pairings working with NSFW content are 18 years or older. Please be honest with us about whether you are 18 or older; if we find out someone has been lying about this, they will be kicked and banned from the event. We also ask that upon posting that any content warnings applicable to the work is tagged properly.
Will there be a theme for this event?
>Based on participant interest, the theme this year will be "Soulmates"!
>Following the theme is NOT required to participate. The theme is only meant to help with inspiration!
What genres are permitted?
>Any genre of fic/art will be allowed!
Who’s organizing this event?
>Wolfkeeper989 ( tumblr / twitter / AO3 ), eegghhh ( tumblr / twitter / AO3 ), and ModernArt2012 ( tumblr / twitter / AO3 ). We also have a great support mod in Hetafe ( tumblr / AO3 ).
>We will have a separate announcement with more details on our mods and their experience!
What’s the schedule for this event?
>You can view the NatShig Big Bang schedule here!
What if there are more writers than artists/artists than writers?
>The Interest Check did show that there was low interest from persons who are open to doing art for this particular bang, however there were respondents open to doing both as well as several persons interested in pinch hitting.
>We are also open to non-drawn forms of art - allowed art mediums beyond Illustrations (traditional and digital) include Photo Edits, Video Edits, Podfic, Cosplay, Moodboards/ Collages, and Playlists. We are open to other forms of art not listed here as well! We don't anticipate there will be a problem of having enough artists/writers for matching, but we will ensure everyone is partnered.
What if I need to change something on my bang sign-up form?
>The sign up forms are all set to share the response with the email you signed up with, as well as the ability to edit the responses, so you will have the ability to make changes until the form closes. If for whatever reason you no longer have access to the email and need to make changes, please ping a mod through the discord server and they will update the information for you.
Can I include other pairings in my work?
> As long as NatShig is the main focus of the work, you can include whatever pairings you like. We do allow platonic NatShig, but we ask that you refrain from shipping them with others in the fic.
************************************************************************
If you have any questions that are not listed in this FAQ, they may be addressed in our guidelines, which will be posted at a later time. In the meantime, please feel free to send us an ask here on tumblr or send us a question on our curiouscat to be answered on our twitter!

HAPPY TECH TUESDAY EVERYONE!!!
No, I will not let this die 🤣🤣🤣 also OMG I'M POSTING SOMETHING ON TIME?!?!? 🤯🤯
May I present for your entertainment:
Silly headcanons I have for Tech and they just get more and more deranged and specific as the list goes on.
Warnings: None, this is just straight sugar and fluff.
He's sensitive to certain textures on his hands so the gloves STAY ON at all times. He doesn't like being sticky or touching anything weirdly gritty.
He has two very obvious tells when he is nervous. 1) He fiddles with his goggles, pushing them further up his nose or adjusting them slightly from side to side. 2) When he's really anxious he chews on his nails and fingertips, another reason why the gloves STAY ON. Sometimes he forgets but the taste of battery acid in his mouth quickly reminds him.
Maker have mercy if you know another language! He will be adorably adamant that you help him with his pronunciation. It'll be like the Duolingo owl but in reverse and with more heart eyes.
After some time together you develop your own language made up of inside jokes. You use it only when you are alone (the rest of the Batch gives you side eyes because it sounds like you've both completely lost your minds).
Tech's one true love will forever be The Marauder. You can't convince me that he isn't secretly a "car guy". He will glare at you if you even think about eating anywhere near the cockpit. It's the only part of the ship he keeps meticulously clean, he even built a little handy vac to make sure the controls stay clear of dust or dirt.
You made an offhand comment about Dad jokes once and now he lives to torment you with them. They are the perfect mix of wordplay and on the spot sass that he can't resist. The rest of the batch hates them as much as you do but Omega keeps egging him on.
If he's info dumping and he feels like you aren't paying attention he will start to spout nonsense in a bid to catch you, unfortunately for him you're always paying attention and these moments are where some of your best inside jokes come from.
You've tried to teach him drinking games but he always finds some trick to make them go in his favor, so for the sake of everyone's sanity (and livers) Hunter has banned all of them.
Tech once let you know there are ten words in galactic basic that he absolutely cannot stand, you've only figured out two at this point: supper and caramel (because no one says it correctly!)
Tech will tease you about your poor taste in music in public but in private hes added some of your favorites to his own playlist.
Tech doesn't have a favorite animal; he likes all of them for different reasons. If he ever hits anything with the Marauder he is mortified and inconsolable for the rest of the day.
He will play devil's advocate just because he likes to see you get flustered but will defend you to the death if someone outside of the Batch gives you even the slightest eye roll.
Tech will absolutely meal prep for the entire month if you let him. Just be warned, food is fuel to him so those regulation meal supplement bars from the GAR might start feeling like candy bars in comparison.
When he's gone on long missions and you can't tag along, he doesn't send you letters, he sends you memes he's made because he'd rather have you laugh than worry.
And finally, just to be adorkable, (YES ADORKABLE) should you two ever find yourselves romantically involved he will find ways to spell your name or at least put your initials into every variable math problem he is working on. So don't be surprised to see your name hidden amongst the scribbles on his walls

Updated Rules
This space is for original character Corvus Maxim DeVille, a villain in most every aspect who delves into themes of crime, horror, madness and various gothic mediums with a dash of Eldritch horror from time to time. This blog is private & highly selective for my personal comfort as I have been in the rp scene for a while and like to curate my space safely. We all have experiences that aren't so great so this is a reason why this character is on the private side. Blog is rated 21+ for dark content. So don't follow or try to interact is you are not 21 or older. Mun is 25+ on est, she/her. Alias on this space is Ms Crow. The only thing on my DNI is: minors and personals.
Activity can be sporadic depending on muse. Consider this low activity and mutual exclusive. I will only follow RP blogs. I will not interact with personals. If you have a side blog let me know! Any opens / starters posted will be for mutuals only UNLESS tagged for nonmutuals but that will be rare. Fair warning there is dark and triggering themes explored in threads. I will tag everything that needs tagging. Please check the tw page to see what has been featured or maybe featured in backstories or plot.
For shipping autoship is a no. I'm actually pretty strict on shipping because of some past problems but those ships that are established are what is generally seen on here. However, if we get to writing and I am comfortable shipping is possible. Any kind of smut will be done with established ship partners, muns & muses 21 + and can: be shown, fade to black, alluded to or only mentioned for muses. We do not even have to smut in our ship. I don't always feel like writing it out anyway so whatever you're comfortable with. That being said Corvus preferably will not ship with muses under 24. Corvus is bisexual but due to some very negative experiences of forceful ship, pressure and autoshipping I will be selective on mxm romance and likely will NOT mxm smut at this time. If we know each other well that may change.
Please do not godmod. Also, remember that Corvus is a pretty dark persona and if you agitate him please do not be offended if he reacts hostile or even does physical harm to your muse. Expect to have a reaction according to his personalty if your muse wants to provoke him. Just a heads up because I do write a 'villain' overall and I will not tone him down. However that is not to say he isn't a gentleman. If you would prefer a verse where he is much more approachable in the long run: Hollywood and Professor are fitting.
Everything here is multiverse. No plots or ships will intersect. Do not reblog anything from here if you're a personal blog. Reblog from the source if you are an RP blog because I do follow reblog karma here. Do not reblog any personal headcanons for Corvus. If there is one I have including your muse you may reblog it. Any ship aesthetics I post that includes your muse you are also allowed to reblog.
I may unfollow if: we do not interact, you do not support female muses, you break my rules, I cannot see our muses or writing styles meshing. Or anything that may make me uncomfortable which I do not have to give a reason about really. I will softblock or block depending on it quietly. Nothing personal or any hard feelings. Feel free to do the same if this blog and character makes you uncomfortable in any way. I think we all should keep our writing spaces comfy!
To be upfront: in one particular au, Corvus' university professor verse, I use icons/aesthetics of Dean Corso from The Ninth Gate (Johnny Depp), as that look and vibe is what I feel for that universe's version of my muse. If you are bothered by this you may blacklist this tag: professor v. once upon a midnight dreary. OR you can simply unfollow me OR even block me. You have every right to do so. Otherwise Corvus' fc is Bryan Dechart.
Personally I do not have banned lists. FCs are a visual rep for a muse and I am inclusive. Honestly I don't care about the face. So face chasing blogs will not be followed by me. I use static icons currently but am working on creating gifs. You may use whatever you like or go iconless. Blogs that demand images in replies will not be followed. Anyone who has a rule stating they will block someone for dark content they write or call them disgusting or they should know better won't get a follow from me. I think everyone knows those topics are not good and honestly if you have not read any book or watched any tv/movies with those - idk what to tell you. I will not write my muse forcing himself on anyone but you may write what you like. I don't like policing or gatekeeping so you're free to fly on my dash for whatever you like.
MUN DOES NOT EQUAL MUSE. I do not condone any dark topics here irl and ask you not to police my blog or come at me for content I know is terrible in real life. I run a blog for a fictional character. Of course I'm not him. MUN DOES NOT EQUAL MUSE.

Only admins and muses over the age of 18 can interact in any sense
Face claims must fall into an acceptable age range to be accepted (do not try to put a ‘90 liner with a ‘00 liner or vice versa)
All face claims must have a profile attached, this account is not open to yn’s as of now
All muses wishing to get with a yandere and have said relationship moved onto the dashboard must be monogamous. The Yanderes do not like sharing.
Roleplays can remain only in dms and not be moved to dash, but you must state that in the beginning of that conversation if that is what you want. There will be limited spaces for this.
I have the right to deny a ship or a roleplay all together if I do not think it will work out.
I will not write scat or piss play, nor will I write smut in little spaces. You must let me know if your muse has a little space in the beginning of the conversation, I will be picky about this.
Most of the Yanderes are not nice coded. Do not complain about their personalities if you volunteer to interact with them, ie tag this account in your posts or reblog one of my posts
If you flirt with a yandere, lead a yandere on, or show any signs of interest and then get with a different muse or bot, don’t expect kindness in return.
Your mental health is your responsibility. If you cannot handle a yandere chat, do not interact.
Communication with me through a chat, especially in intense scenes, is highly encouraged
If you plan on being inactive for a long period of time, please be courteous and let me know or else I will assume you no longer wish to continue the thread and it will be deleted
After a thread is deleted, you must start over if I agree to try again
One like and one word responses are banned. I do try to write at least a paragraph, I ask for you to write enough for me to respond to as well as enough so that you contribute to the plot, I will tell you if your response was lacking and you are free to do the same with mine.
For a ship or roleplay to start, admins must communicate about a chat and personal information beforehand
The only other messaging app I have is telegram, you are more than welcome to ask me for that.
I’ve seen this implemented a lot, so I thought I should do it to. If you tag me and I tag you (mutual tags), I expect you to interact if you expect me to interact. It’s a fair agreement and if you cannot respect it, do not tag me and I will not tag you. It’s simple.

Common Questions and Information
What is peak trans?
Peak trans is the moment where you you begin to see the logical inconsistencies and cognitive dissonance within the trans movement which makes you realise that you can no longer (fully) support the trans movement.
The full, long definition which I like is this:
The moment when you realise that the trans movement is misogynistic, homophobic (and especially lesbophobic), full of autogynepiles, based on sexist stereotypes, full of circular reasoning, silencing (and attacking) those who disagree with them, silencing women who are affected by laws they wish to be put in place, ignoring science/statistics which go against their beliefs, based on beliefs rather than science and statistics, ignoring what people in their community are doing (as being trans is more important), and denying what other people in their own community are saying (because they’re not saying it). It’s the moment when you turn around and say ‘I cannot support this movement anymore’ because of all the reasons listed above.
But this definition from Urban Dictionary is also pretty good:
When the threshold of cognitive dissonance that the trans ideology requires of someone exceeds the limits of a person’s willing suspension of disbelief, and that person’s eyes open to where they can no longer agree with the narrative.
Who is this blog for?
This blog is open to everyone, regardless of if you are reading because you agree or hate-reading or just trying to understand other people’s side, my blog is open to you. I will only block people who harass me or attack people from the stories/on my posts.
What are TIM, TIF, and TRA?
TIM = Trans Identified Male (aka trans woman)
TIF = Trans Identified Female (aka trans man)
We use these acronyms in order to refer to trans people by their sex which makes things less complicated.
TRA = Trans Rights Activist. Basically a shorthand for anyone who unquestionably supports trans rights
Do you have trigger warnings?
There are two:
Trauma and Mental Illness
Eating Disorders
I am not the best at tagging so I may have missed some (which you can point out to me if you want to) but I try to make sure that they’re all tagged appropriately.
Where do most of these stories come from?
Many used to come from the subreddit r/GenderCritical and some from r/GenderCriticalGuys before the subreddits were banned by Reddit for ‘promoting hate’.
Some now come from the new Gender Critical group on SaidIt while others come from Spinster. Many are simply direct submissions.
How do you decide which stories I post?
I post all stories unless they have asked for their story to not be shared on different platforms or the story is riddled with slurs/obviously a troll. The moderators of r/GC, and now s/GC are very strict and good at removing those stories before I come across them, otherwise it’s just my own judgement on them.
What is ’peak queer’ and ’peak libfem’?
Much like peak trans, peak queer and peak libfem are reaching a point where you can no longer support these movement.
Peak queer, or peak TQ+, is no longer being able to support the micro identities which are often associated with trans activism such as pansexual/romantic, demisexual/romantic, allosexual/romantic, and omnisexual/romantic. Realising that many of these things are unnecessary identities for normal, human behaviour which exist because everyone wants to think that their feelings are special or unique.
Peak libfem is no longer being able to support the so-called ’feminist activism’ (really just conforming to patriarchal standards) which libfems support including sex-positivity/sex work is work, supporting make-up (culture), the massive support of trans activism at the expense of women’s rights, and calling everything a (free) choice so feminist.
What is a trans widow?
Trans widow is a term for people, although mainly women, who have married someone who later came out as trans which causes the end of their relationship. Their trans partner changes so much (including personality, likes/dislikes, the way they act, style, etc) in the process of transitioning/figuring out their gender identity that they become a completely different person. These changes mean that the person they originally fell in love with and married is effectively dead which gives them the name trans widows.
There’s a really good TEDTalk by a trans widow on the subject. There’s also an organisation called Trans Widow Voices to help support and raise awareness of trans widows.
