if i had the time, attention span, patience, and mental stamina, i’d make some kind of video/dissertation just to study the “ash gets betrayed” genre of pokeani fanfiction under a microscope. i kinda did that with my old deconstructed!betrayal au but i’d like to go deeper if that makes sense

#like. maybe this is just inherent to the betrayal/accusation fic genre as a whole but i could never get into these kinds of stories.#but unfortunately #it’s a kind of disinterest/distance from the genre that also makes it weirdly interesting to me #especially w the finale of the journeys arc in mind #bc ash kind of got everything that these kinds of stories want for him. powerful pokemon. becoming champion (and the top trainer in #the world no less!). and probably becoming a big name in the pokemon training world.#and it was all without the cynical/spiteful edge that typically drives him in betrayal fics #idk. i recognize that this genre of fic isn’t necessarily written for me and maybe that’s why ash betrayal fics and i don’t vibe #but it’s interesting to think about nonetheless.#pokemon journeys spoilers #pokemon #pokeani #not sure what else to tag this? if you do like these kinds of stories that’s fine #feel free to filter/block my posts bc i have a lot to say abt this genre and none of it is very nice lol
