The Yellowjackets cannibalism scene goes off so hard, alternating between shots of the girls ravenously eating human flesh and a hallucination of them at a Greco-Roman feast, all while Climbing Up the Walls by Radiohead plays, and it's GREAT,
But I am genuinely so upset I'll never see this exact same scenario played out on IWTV because it's been done before.
Like I will never see Amadeo!Armand and Young Daniel in togas and golden laurel crowns feeding each other figs and spilling red wine down their necks as they laugh and drink, sucking honey from each other's finger tips, while flashing between Old Daniel and Modern Armand tearing some poor human apart like starving wolves, their faces and shirt-fronts drenched in blood. While Climbing Up the Walls by Radiohead plays.
#it's just so perfect it's just so THEM#it wouldnt even have to be devil's minion#we could have armand/lestat/nicky doing the same. GOD.#yellowjackets really went off with that#yellowjackets spoilers#iwtv#yj spoilers

honestly if there's one change book to TV that I'm super grateful for it's ageing up Daniel Molloy. that wet sack of a boy needed to ripen to reach Bogosian!Daniel level of sass
#on a more serious note it just adds sm to this romance for me#armand let him go he let him have one full human life#he got to grow out of his addiction both to drugs and to armand/armand's blood#he failed two marriages and fucked up two daughters yes but that's life#he had a whole successful career#spn#there's a lot to unpack with regards to armand's mindfuckery sure but it WAS an act of love#selflessness even#he wasn't backed in a corner bc the akasha thing is pushed to the back#and i do think book!armand wouldnt have turned daniel when he did#if he'd seen another chance for daniel#70s!daniel took none of armand's shit either#but present daniel is far more equipped to stand his ground i think#and armand is going to see#that the romance of daniel's youth isn't as fickle as he thought#bc daniel still feels a ravening and hopeless desire#i could talk about this for hours#devil's minion#iwtv#daniel molloy

Im three chapters into the legend of the twins section and I honestly have very little to say about them, not because theyre bad or anything theyre just these little vignettes featuring random incidental characters that don't really make me feel or think all that much. Basically the only thought that I had that I feel compelled to share is this one I had while reading Pandora's chapters which was, "its impressive how much I dont give a fuck about all this bullshit about grand temples and living gods, compared to how much I cared about that edgy 14 year olds weird rambling about her little existence"
Anyway, the real reason why Im stopping to write a post even though I didnt end up having that much to say is that next chapter is gonna be about my beloved, the interview-guy from the first book aka Daniel Malloy (which is a name that Ive know from some posts about the show, and Ive already guessed that it was the interview-guy, Ive just been calling him that on the slim chance I guessed wrong and also bc I think its funny)
He is just. so weird. I started rereading the first book right before starting on this one, and I kept noticing these little things about him, like his oddly horny-seeming response to Louis asking him if he ever lost a lot of blood and knew what it felt like. And of course theres the big thing that stuck with me ever since I first read it like a year ago, and thats the fact that he listened to Louis whole lifestory and then asked him if he could turn him into a vampire as well, like what. And to be fair to my boy Daniel, if I was really into the idea of vampirism and immortality then Louis' story wouldnt really convince me that being a vampire sucked, it would just convince me that Lestat sucked. Like, tough luck that the guy who turned you into a vampire and that you fell in love with was this freak who babytrapped you, but I dont think thats a universal vampire experience so Im probably gonna have a great time being one. But then he decides to try and find Lestat to ask him instead iirc so idk man. I think he might just have a kink at this point
I am very intrigued by him being called The Devil's Minion but I dont really have any predictions or speculations regarding that. Obviously I think that the devil he's minioning for is Lestat but now that I think about it, it could very well be some other vampire that snatched him up after he published the interview. Also, based on show-spoilers Ive seen, it looks like hes gonna be the token human in the cast, which is another intriguing thing that I dont have any further speculations for, so whatever. Im gonna take a nap now and unravel all that intrigue later

I have 117 hours on dmc5. Yknow, the game that only lasts for 5 to 12 hours of playtime.
Anyway, today I discovered about 7 hidden mechanics for the Devil Sword Dante. They are on the skill list, which I never read through properly.
I wouldnt have found them if I had not played DMC3 for 50 hours and been forced to learn all the mechanics for Dante’s Rebellion and Vergil’s Force Edge.
I tried holding the Y button, in an attempt to use Drive or Round Trip, and found that I get summoned swords! Not only that, they stay with me even when I switch my weapon, for quite a while. They can be used in swordmaster to trace my attack (if I ignore the style attack button), gunslinger to shoot blades automatically at nearby enemies, trickster to add extra uses of dash jump and teleport, and royal guard to make your guard unbreakable for its duration.
The effect is turned on automatically if you are in devil trigger. It also requires two bars of devil trigger mana, so it may be better to save them for a full DT to get all the sword effects plus the health and damage bonus, however it doesnt drain extra DT once activated, and it lasts a good 30 seconds which is as long as a completely maxed out DT bar will take to drain.
I’m baffled that I never looked into such an obvious mechanic. I never held the attack button for the sword.
What is probably less obvious however is that Round Trip, Dance Macabre, and Prop/Shredder are still mechanics in the sword, but they have been moved to different inputs.
Dance Macabre was done in swordmaster by holding RB+back, mash B. Now it’s hold RB, back>forward, mash B. It is an autocombo that uses several of Dante’s moves. Much easier to use than Nero’s Showdown combo, less powerful but similar benefits to the style rank. I thought it had been taken out but guess not!
Prop/Shredder is no longer B,B. It is now in Dante’s normal combo - Y Y pause Y Y (hold final input for more shredding).
You all know Ariel Rave is just reassogned to Y and you can use Helm Breaker by holding RB+Down when pressing Y. Thank God. How archaic is it to have the air combo confined to a style?
The final attack, Round Trip, doesnt exist in its normal form. Hold B then press it again when near an enemy and Dante’s spinning mini swords will do a Round Trip attack. You dont have to switch weapons to attack during Round Trip as you dont throw the Dante.
With all this, and all the cool swordmaster attacks the other weapons like King Cerberus give, you may think Dante’s other B inputs are a waste. They wave the swords in front of him. They can be useful for holding an enemy in place while you combo them though. Useful for the very advanced players.
I think I have gotten close to mastering Nero. I am able to consistently use Exceed (rev the fire sword), Devil Knuckle (hit with ghost arm during sword attacks), and Charge Shot (gun charge) at the same time.
I dont think that there is much else that can be done with V and his slow, constantly teleporting minions...
