Wirt had so little love as a child, so when Dipper does basic things- cook for the both of them, surprises him with a clean house, give him little things he knows Wirt will like-it breaks his heart how happy Wirt gets to receive the bare minimum.

Wirt was an independent child. He had to be. His guardians often shooed him away when he wanted their attention. They gave him a book or a toy and told him to leave them alone. They made it very clear he was an annoyance and not at all like his cooler, sweeter, funnier little half-brother.

Dipper makes a lot of money from his ghost-hunting show. He showers Wirt with vacations and lavish meals and little trinkets that remind Wirt how much he is loved.
