i tried to tell my dad to invite his siblings to join our japan trip in between our dates (there are essentially two groups going to japan and the gap is about a week apart) so that they would be able to spend time with us “kids” in the first group and him in the second group

but he reasoned that it would mean they would just be spending their entire trip in nagoya and that it seemed kinda anti-climactic esp since one of his siblings will be going to japan for the first (and maybe only) time ever and he won’t even be able to see tokyo (the first leg of our trip)

if you think nagoya is gonna be so boring then why did you book us there in the first place??? 😭😭😭

So I think I ~may~ have implied earlier that the Varmont fam knows about her spy thing, but as I developed the situation, I felt that it would be better if she's just Godfrey's informant and the only other person that knows about it on this side atp is Cecily (and ciara did this on purpose b/c I think she feels like most of her fam would have the same reaction more or less as arthur where they would basically want her to stop and not support it at all!!!)

but yes!! I agree!!! I think they'd get along v well! they are v close in age (honestly i imagine that ciara is only about ten months or so older than him) and, as such, they'd literally grown up together!! I sorta see where she might be one of his easier relationships, since yeah, as you said, there's no competition between them at all? And I know that he doesn't have that w/ Cassandra, but -- even though Ciara is a girl, too, she is older/wiser/more practical than Cassandra will ever be and I'm guessing that, while he's probably still ~protective~ it's probably less so, since she's not his younger sister/she's definitely in less need of it?

ALSO I CRY that she's one of the most trusted people in his life? I don't think Ciara envies Arthur AT ALL and certainly doesn't envy having Roderick for a father and I do think she appreciates how hard all of that is/not to mention the amount of pressure Arthur is probably under 24/7 and I think she'd like to think that whenever they hang out, she can help him take his mind off of things, but also would want him to know that she's here to talk if he ever actually wanted to do that?

(but no you are so right about that! and tbh yeah I think a lot of those feelings have actually played into her determination to actually do!!!! something!!!! honestly especially growing up w/o a mother and seeing her dad and bro live the way men do and she's just held to different standards, y'know? And like, I don't think she ever really considered it to be an option, but I do think she's always craved freedom and independence (perhaps w/o fully realizing it -- until she starts to feel like she has more control in her life and then she starts to discover just how little she bad before, etc)

ahhh omg yeah if it is ever revealed about arthur's true parentage, honestly it would kinda rock ciara's world as well? not nearly as much as arthur's, for multiple reasons, but I think she's always had this v precise picture of her father as someone who always does the right thing and who was also so desperately in love with his wife and the reason he never speaks of her now, is that it is too painful ... but the fact that he literally fathered a child w/ his nephew's wife before his wife was cold in the ground is completely unthinkable to her??

hi, sister cousin! alksjdfklsdfj no but arthur knows none of that lakdsjfkljdsf ANYWAY *cough cough* arthur loves his family!!!!! and its esp wonderful to have family that isn't controversial in some way (daslkfjkldjsfjdf ignorance is bliss ig) like, as far as he knows, ciara will still be his cousin whether he's emperor or ed is (sorry, guin, you're a girl arthur is more concerned about ed alkdjflkjsdf) and for that reason i feel like he probs has an easier relationship w his cousins than w most of his siblings (tho ironically this is actually reversed...just gonna ignore that going forward w this re: their current relationship, otherwise ill confuse myself...;D)

do we think the varmont fam knows that ciara is an informant, btw, or is she just godfrey's anonymous source atp? i def think, if arthur knows she's a spy, itd freak him outttt!!!! he def buys what his dad is selling about how women ought to be treated (tho arthur def has a slightly more chivalrous take on it -- lbr: arthur is a better person than roderick...tho i realize that aint saying much honestly hahahaha), and esp a princess of the blood!!!! like she might not be a daughter of roderick but she ~is a daughter of the house of varmont, so she ought to be protected not endangered!!!!! but obv if he doesn't know abt that then...he's not worried about it hahhaha

anyway, i do think arthur would love ciara!! just from reading her bio she seems like she's a resourceful/quick-thinking go-getter, and he respects and admires that (arthur's internalized roderick!voice: what a pity such a mind was wasted on a woman)!!! and she's honestly one of the few ppl in his life he feels he can fully trust. he probs does get, bc he sees her wits, that she's probs frustrated in her life being more limited by her femininity, and honestly he can relate to someone feeling boxed in by factors of birth totally outside their control!! he def wants to help her and look out for her, which is frankly probs more trouble than help, but i s2g his intentions are good hahaha again, he's unfortunately buying what his dad is selling smdh anyway, i know you're still developing her so i didn't wanna draw much more than a sketch here but i thought id toss this out to get us started ;D

if/when it eventually comes out that they're siblings, i def think obv that'll have a profound impact on their relationship and how he looks at her. obv he'll be deep in his feels abt the whole thing (for one thing the person he's spent his whole life tryna impress hates him now, the person he's been tryna be doesn't exist...like this is literally his nightmare esp while roderick balances whther to execute him if roderick learns abt it...but also like???? he's free????? and if he can just get past all the trappings that've haunted him he finally has a shot at happiness???? so the whole gamut of wild emotions really wrapped up here for him hahaha) but yeah once he gets out of his own way, he'll be feeling weird and tender -- in both good and bad ways -- abt the whole thing and sort of????? ready to be rejected???? but hopeful too???? just bc his whole life is...a mess alksjdfjkdsf anyway!!! obv no idea how all of that will/won't go atm but there's that, and obv it'll also be deeply colored by how we develop their relationship beforehand but just thought id throw that bit out too here at the end hahaha
