I wonder what thoughts Peter Lorre had about the transition from silent films to talkies.

I dont know how aware he even was when he first got into films that his voice had so much to do with people's fascination with him(might not have come through the same way on a stage, who knows), but I do think its interesting that other than a small scene in one silent film that he never seemed to give much of a damn about, Peter went straight from stage to sound films

#ive been wondering cause i recently watched singing in the rain for the first time #jeez! i did not expect to be so uncomfortable with the implications of that fun musical #i cant claim to know much about the transition to sound in film #but that film felt pretty misogynistic even for its era and super unsympathetic to actors who couldn't make the transition to sound film #it would be one thing if the producer guy wasnt treated so sympathetically #but as is it felt like a very black and white look at a complicated situation that ended a lot of peoples careers #a lot of decent hard working people #anyway watching it left me very curious what peter lorre thought of that whoke situation #i dont know what peter thought about the change but if I were to guess he was probably glad about it #peter lorre
