I love both ships and I can definitely see what you mean, but I honestly just think it's harder to blame Viktor because it's so clear that the majority of it was internalized ableism? It's not quite a clean comparison.

For Cait, she's not from the group she's oppressing. Vi is. It's never directed at herself. We see glimpses of how she's come to hate herself for becoming the oppressor of Zaun to such a degree, and it's a great direction for her character arc.

Both her and Viktor are quite a ways from completing their character arcs at the finale but I think the first steps they take are immensely satisfying.

But Viktor's more like if Vi (mirroring Viktor) had become the dictator instead of Cait, and then eventually also started ruling Piltover with an iron hand that threatened to leave both cities devastated, while Cait (mirroring Jayce) was trying to stop her from finishing what they began together.

(And, actually, fuck, I want to read that AU, like. So bad actually. Should I write that oh god that would be so interesting for Vi how would we get her arc there omg help-)

Everyone IMMEDIATELY forgiving Viktor for trying to wipe out all of humanity because their yaoi ship went (vaguely) canon, meanwhile STILL making op-ed callout posts accusing Caitlyn of being a war criminal, throwing the always-canon yuri under the bus with it... Well, if that's not Tumblr in a nutshell I don't know what is lol
