hi hi, can I request something like how xikers would spend their free time with you? 💗💞
HANGING OUT WITH XIKERS °
~~~~~~~~♡
Tumblr media
Minjae ☆
Your birthday was coming up and minjae wanted to surprise you
And because you kept talking about it, he took you to a dog cafe <3
Taking turns feeding and playing with the dogs <3
Got very full yourself XD
While you were playing with the dogs, minjae sneaked a picture, finding you cute ♡
Junmin ☆
You and junmin were talking about heights when you brought up bungee jumping
Junmin preceded to tease you until you made a bet
He lost the bet
You made him go bungee jumping with you, and he was screaming like a scaredy cat the entire time
You had to push him off ♡
Sumin ☆
Sumin would smile so wide when he hears the doorbell ring (no pun intended), quickly opening the door and dragging you to his room to show you his assorted beads and string
"You begged me to come to.." "MAKE FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS WITH ME!!" he'd cut you off, his eyes glowing like stars
You'd find him cute, sitting down and opening the containers
You two would chat happily, showing each other patterns and techniques
"OH MY GOD CLOSE YOUR EYES" he'd shout your name, grabbing you wrist and putting on the most prettiest bracelet on you ♡
Jinsik ☆
The power had went out so you were bored in his living room
Playing around with your fingers, he would suddenly ask to play truth or dare
You didnt really want to at first, but come on, who can resist Ham Jinsik?
"Truth or dare?" "Hmm.. truth." "Do you like anyone at school?" "..yeah.." "OMG WHO?!"
"You." ♡
Hyunwoo ☆
You two were going out shopping for the upcoming school dance
Hyunwoo wanted to ask for you to be his partner for the dance, but he was so shy
You'd brag him to the dressing room and pop out with different outfits on
At first it was for shits and giggles until you came out wearing this light blue, sparkling dress
Hyunwoo would gasp so loud, standing up towards you as he blushes
Would compliment you on how pretty you look as he finally gathers all his courage, asking you out to the dance ♡
Junghoon ☆
You and junghoon were talking on his bed, remicing your childhoods
Junghoon was starting it get a little sleepy as he pulls the blanket over the two of you, resting his head on your lap
You were a little taken back, before running you hand through his hair
"You look like a cat hoon." You would say as he hums, closing his eyes
Would start to braid his hair as he sleeps ♡
Seeun ☆
Seeun spent all day teasing you for various things and you were fed up
Secretly plotting you notice seeun falling asleep on the couch
You quietly run to your bag, pulling out a black sharpie
Trying to hold your laughter as you doodle on his face
Would hide yourself when he wakes up and goes to use the bathroom, cackling when he starts screaming ♡
Yujun ☆
Yujun invited you over for a sleepover because he wanted to show you a new game he found
Luckily, it was a 2 player game so you guys could play at the same time
Would defo make bets for the person the loses, but get mad when he loses
Would try to change the rules but you already did your punishment
Would defo try to act like hes so hurt, until you offer snacks and he would jump up like nothing happened ♡
Hunter ☆
You'd come back from the bathroom to find hunter in a apron
"There you are!" He'd smile all cutely and walk towards you, wrapping another apron around your waist
You could feel his breath on your neck as it seemed like time stopped, before he flashed you a cute smile
If you put the wrong measurement or something hunter would laugh at you before reassuring it was okay
Feeding him little spoonfuls of food because he is a baby :(( ♡
Yechan ☆
You were at yechans house helping him clean his room when you stumbled upon some old Halloween costumes
Yechan smiles at you mischievously, before kicking some stuff to the side to form a "runway"
You come back to the bathroom in one of your old costumes to find all the stuff animals lined up as the audience
Yechan starts acting like a cameraman while you model. "Yeah.. yeah. Turn. OHHH. another turn? YEAHHH"
You trip over something ♡
Thank you for requesting again! And thank you to my bestie for helping me <3
HI – I am finally watching Shaman King 2021!
The 2001 anime consumed my head and my heart (many a Maths lesson was spent discussing what had happened in Last Night’s Episode), so I’m happy to be diving in at last!
I’m grouping my rambles for convenience.  Here are some squiggly thoughts on Episodes 1-9!
Episode 1
Ep 1 of Shaman King and I'm getting emotional – the way Anna and Yoh go up against Hao in the opening sent a chill down my spine!  And wow, they didn't waste any time establishing the twin connection, huh?
There's definitely a lot packed into Episode 1, which means that it goes super fast but hey, that's fine!
It will take me a while to get used to the voices because I love and adore the 4 Kids dub – but I'm watching this subbed and having fun so far!
Episode 2
AMIDAMARU IS ADORABLE.
SHAMAN KING is one massive eco message and I loooove iiiiiit!  Having Ren spend all that time staring up at the stars rambling on about air pollution… you tell ’em!
Episode 3
Phew, the bit in the Lee Pyron episode where he starts crying... that takes me back…  (Though I think they missed a trick here by sticking with ‘Lee Pyron’ in the dub; ‘Lee Pai-Long’ made a lot more sense to me, back in the day.)
Anna literally slapping sense into everyone, including Jun fhdjdn
AND WATCHING HER USE THE BEADS GAVE ME CHILLS YAHHH!!
Episode 4
Episode 4 is my favourite so far – the introduction of Tokageroh!  There was a proper laugh-out-loud moment as well as plenty of action... though I have to ask how in the world baby!Mosuke was making swords, lol.  Him and what resources?  The knife from his father? Gosh.
Tokageroh’s backstory was delivered pretty quickly… I also appreciated Ren in this episode.
I wish that the English dub had stuck with 4Kids’ term ‘sacred hang’ – that had so much flavour.  Ryu talking about a ‘happy place’ doesn’t really have the same pizazz.
However!  Amidamaru referring to Yoh as ‘Lord Yoh’?  Amazing.  Splendid.  Beautiful.  I believe it was ‘Master Yoh’ back in the 2001 days.
Episode 5
SCREAMS
THIS
THIS IS MY FAVOURITE ONE
First of all, starting off with Ryu was cute!  Though I don’t understand how Anna summoned Mosuke to fix Harusame considering that he's dead dead (having passed on at all), but hey, I think we'll have to let it slide…
SILVA IS HERE!  I had to skip back and watch most of the episode in English because hi, DAN GREEN, HI.  He was so great and I just felt so happy hearing his voice again after all this time~ it helps that Silva is an AMAZING character and so much fun!
I cracked when Yoh lobbed Amidamaru like a baseball and tfjfj the bit where Amidamaru's spirit nearly ascends is so good –
I actually squealed when Over Soul started playing, sheesh.  Oh well.  It wasn’t too late, so I’m sure my neighbours were fine.
And man, Ren is such a lil creep at this point... The Tao family give off serious Zoldyck vibes, tbh.
(Shaman King 2021 is still super fast and I think it’s okay for people who’ve got 2001 or the manga as a baseline, but if I were completely new to the IP, I would be LOST.)
Episode 6
Horohoro is so cute.
That’s pretty much all I have to say!
Episode 7
Faust the VIII is a FREAK what the hell!
At this point, I’m flip-flopping between the sub and the dub based on whether it’s a Silva screen or not dndjkd but Faust sharing a seiyuu with Saurtobi Sasuke (from Sengoku BASARA!!) is making that complicated!
THIS EP IS FULL OF TWISTS AND TURNS
YOH LOSING
REN COMING TO THE RESCUE WITH "I DRINK THREE GLASSES OF MILK A DAY"?
SILVA'S COOL SPEECHES
AMIDAMARU INSPIRING YOH AND ANNA GETTING JELLY –
Also, the soundtrack is perfeeect for Shaman King I loooove it
Episode 8
Manta comes from money?? I don’t remember all of that stuff with his family from 2001 at ALL.
Also, the funny thought of Ryu going to America to train as a sushi chef like... surely it would be more prudent to stay in Japan?  lol
I'm pretty sure Amidamaru uses "de gozaru" when he speaks, which is super cute
This episode introduces Tamao!  I think she might be a little younger than Yoh and Anna (11?). Ponchi and Conchi were absolutely vile which was definitely, definitely left out of the dub.
I feel like we could have had more of Yoh's struggle in Yomi Cave, for sure, but that’s 2021's breakneck pacing again!  Also, I really have to question the tournament format considering that something like 10 days have passed since Yoh's loss to Faust – there wasn’t any mention of how long the qualifiers would last.  I love tournaments in anime, but they MUST be well structured!!  Or I get mad!!
Bason is adorable...... Also, I completely forgot that Ren disdains the Tao family?  What a dweeby child.  I love him.
How is it that Tamao has an Over Soul but Yoh didn't even know what it was called nfjfjd Just HOW slack was Yoh in his training??
Episode 9
YOH'S REMATCH AGAINST REEEN
THE HORSES ARE COOL
I love how much this episode focused on Yoh saying things like, “I'm not going to force myself" djdj I wish he was the shounen protag whose example I'd followed… Yoh says such important things about not working to death that many of his peers could listen to!  And me too sigh sighs
Once again, the timeline is whack – the preliminaries are over but Ren’s only had two battles?  Huh??
Naegiri Week Day 3: Stars
So one of my favourite things to do for Naegiri Week when I receive a prompt... is to find my own weird little way to twist it. Today’s prompt is one of those times. I don’t really have any general warnings to give, apart from the fact that this piece features body image issues.
I hope you enjoy!
_____________
“Kyoko Kirigiri was more attractive before she had kids.”
A stupid statement. A rude, stupid statement. Some tabloid writer said it, or rather, wrote it. She knew it was a hook to get readers. Almost everyone said she shouldn’t take it personally. In the grand scheme of things, the words of one tabloid writer meant nothing, they claimed. He was just some idiot who measured her worth as a person by the way she looked; his words were no proof of how everyone else felt about her. No matter what awful things he said about her and her body; the comments he made about her having “too much fat on her stomach” and “hips that only accentuate her obvious weight gain” were that of a loser. Everyone told her that he was an idiot, and that she should just ignore him. He wasn’t worth it.
And rightfully, maybe he wasn’t. Maybe she should have ignored it.
But it was hard to feel like that asshole didn’t have a point when she met herself in the mirror.
Truth be told, she’d been having problems with body image long before the article had been published in that magazine. It wasn’t exactly like it was unusual for people to comment on her body. Prior to this writer, there had been hundreds of others who made comments. At first, most people made generic comments. Simple stuff about her being hot, having a nice rear, and her husband being the one lucky guy who got to have sex with her. Seeing celebrities on television over the years, she grew to expect that. No matter how strong and intelligent she was, people would focus most on her beauty. She knew she couldn’t defeat the culture that valued beauty over brains, or perpetuated the idea that women couldn’t be both brainy and beautiful. So she just ignored it. It never meant anything to her. However, as time went on, and Kyoko’s little family grew, the dynamic of these writers changed. More and more of them started to turn for the worse, mocking her postpartum state after her first two kids.
Still, she’d tried not to care. She adored her kids. She’d been more than confident enough in that to tell multiple magazines that she valued her son and her daughter more than being conventionally attractive. And to some degree, it was true. She really did love her kids, and the pair of them made her so much happier than the idealized body ever could.
Deep down though, somewhere within her heart, a seed of fear planted itself. A fear that maybe, just maybe, these tabloid people had some kind of point. That she really wasn’t as pretty as she used to be. That maybe the people most dear to her would start seeing it, and want to leave. Kyoko didn’t think she could take it if someone tried to leave. At the time, she’d been lucky enough to find that not a soul budged, even in spite of the comments, but… after the third baby, and the comments of that stupid tabloid writer… the worries had come bubbling back up again.
Saying hello to those worries again, at age thirty-four, is how she found herself standing in front of her bedroom mirror. Every detail under her own critical scrutiny.
Staring at herself in the mirror like this, she wondered how she should think of her body now. Her hair was shorter and thinner, to stay out of the reach of tugging baby hands. Some chub clung to her belly, still hanging about after six months of vigorous workout sessions. Her hips wider than they used to be, even when Hiroko had insisted that they probably wouldn’t change drastically. And the stretch marks… she couldn’t forget the stretch marks, and the way they spanned across her belly. Each child insisted upon bringing multitudes of new stripes with them, as if they liked creating more work for her. She spent years using creams and formulas to fade the marks, and now that she’d had a third, she knew she’d have to start trying again. Just looking at all of the progress, in constant reverse due to her pregnancies, it made her sigh. Kyoko couldn’t help but doubt that Makoto found her as sexy as he did when she was twenty-two.
If she was being honest, that was really the only thing she cared about. The only thing she was really fearful of. Whether others found her to be beautiful or liked the way her body looked was something she’d deemed irrelevant. All that mattered to her was that Makoto still found her appealing.
She felt sorry for herself, given that the sight of herself in the mirror caused her to sigh. Her charred fingers pinched her stomach sadly, wondering how she was ever going to reverse all of this baby weight.
“I can’t believe I actually used to wear this outfit,” She groaned, twisting to examine her figure further. She noticed new stretch marks start to reveal themselves on her belly, and she groaned. It made her never want to wear a sports bra or crop top again. “It’s amazing to think I ever looked good in this.”
She could remember those days. She’d been in her early twenties then; the perfect age to wear something so flashy. Back then, she could pull off this little workout outfit. A hot pink sports-bra and short shorts combination, built for sweat resistance and husband-catching. She recalled wearing it for every one of her home workouts, for the sake of granting herself Makoto’s attention. She could still draw up his expression in her mind; the face that told her that he was trying not to stare but couldn’t help himself. The memory of it made her giggle. How she longed for the days where he could barely keep his eyes off her.
Looking at herself in the present, wearing that outfit, she desired only to avert her gaze. Gone was the tiny waist, the strong hair, the flat tummy, the perky breasts. Replaced now with a shadow of those things; an ideal that seemed to elude the detective’s grasp. She’d been left with little more than a body that she struggled to feel comfortable in.
“So much for the days of looking sexy, I guess.” She muttered to herself, stealing one last glance in the mirror. She wasn’t sure what she hated more, when she saw herself — the state of her body, or the sadness etched into her expression. There was a haunting quality to the arms that were wrapped around her tummy, trying to shield her body from herself. Bowing her head, she drew herself away from the mirror, trying not to think about it. She would rather just rip the clothes off her body and move on with her day. At least she could do that comfortably. It wasn’t like she had any big plans to be intimate with Makoto that night; they were still parents to three kids after all. So long as she changed and tossed the outfit in the family’s outgoing donation box, no one would have to know. Her insecurity could be her little secret.
At least, that had been her plan, but a familiar voice from behind her was a little too determined to contradict it.
“Whoa!”
Makoto. She cursed mentally. How could she have forgotten that it would soon be time for the baby’s mid-afternoon snack? He must’ve come upstairs to give her her bottle. Leave it to him to be irritatingly on top of things. She could have kicked herself for having forgotten. Heat began to prick at her face, coating her nose and chin with shame and humiliation. How could she have been so naive? This was the last thing she wanted to see. Her shame felt so great that she couldn’t even bring herself to look at him.
“Hello, Makoto…”
Her voice came out weakly, contaminated by the slight tremors of total embarrassment. If he noticed the difference, he didn’t say anything. Instead, he just kept chatting away merrily, like he didn’t just walk in on his wife in something she didn’t look good in.
“Hey, sweetheart.” He answered, slight amusement in his voice. This only spurred her embarrassment on further. Was he laughing at her? The thought made her want to melt into the floor. God, he wasn’t so cruel as to laugh at her, was he? “Found some old clothes you wanted to try on again?”
She tried to play along. Surely he was going to joke, wasn’t he? Just like everyone else did. Pushing out the fakest laugh she could muster, she turned towards him. Maybe she could play it off as a joke, too, and spare herself the humiliation. “Yes, I wanted to make sure these didn’t look good anymore, so I could get rid of them.” She placed a hand on her hip, trying desperately to look nonchalant. “I look quite atrocious, don’t I? The years haven’t exactly been kind to me.”
“What?” Makoto exclaimed, shaking his head in disagreement. “Come on, don’t even joke about that.”
Beads of sweat slipped down her forehead. Had she misinterpreted what he wanted to convey?
“Joke about what?”
“Your body! I mean, come on, Kyoko, look at you! You’re beautiful!”
Beautiful? If she couldn’t see the thick rims of them on his face, she would ask if he was wearing his glasses. Partial blindness was the only way he could have found her beautiful, or at least, that’s what the voice in her head said.
“Makoto…” She answered breathlessly, unsure of how to tell him the truth. She had hoped that the whole thing was just a joke to him, but he was making it increasingly clear that his intentions were serious. So serious that Kyoko found herself fidgeting uncomfortably; what could she possibly say?
Her silence made his concern pounce onto her anyway. His face fell; his cute smile flipped into a frown. Before she knew it, he slipped into the room. Oh god, she thought, now he really means business.
“Kyoko?” His gaze was pitying when he stared at her. She loathed it. He knew how much she hated being pitied, but at the same time… she knew sometimes she had to let that go. Of course it was unappealing, yet sometimes she knew it to be necessary. Sometimes it was just what needed to happen. In cases that involved Makoto, this was often how he would help her work towards a solution.
Brushing a strand of purple hair away from her face, she swallowed. The words seemed to catch in her throat, and she wondered if she might even be able to say them. In front of his worried eyes, she felt so small and fragile. Like one of the ceramic ballerinas her grandfather kept in their old mansion. Saying the words made her feel like she was going to fall and smash. “I… Do you honestly still think I’m beautiful?”
Her husband’s eyes went wide with shock. Evidently that was a ridiculous question to him. So ridiculous that he went flying to her side; eager to provide affection for his downtrodden spouse. “Of course I do!”
His hand found its way to her cheek, and he began stroking it softly with his thumb. It was a technique he used frequently, should she become overwhelmed. In a way, she supposed it sort of helped her to push the words out. “Do you promise your words aren’t empty?”
He nodded frantically. “Of course. What made you think otherwise?” His eyes searched her face for a moment. She could see that he hoped for an answer. Unfortunately, she didn’t have the opportunity to give one. Anger flickered across his face suddenly, like the lighting of a flame, catching her before she could tell her truth. “Was it that tabloid writer?”
She shook her head sadly; her shoulders slumping. “It’s not just him,” She confessed, “I’ve sort of felt this way for awhile. Like I might not be as attractive to you as I used to be.”
“What gave you that idea?”
“I don’t know… I guess I just… got insecure. My body is so different than it used to be. When you married me, I could have been a model, but now… I guess I kind of have a mom body.”
“And what’s wrong with having a mom body?”
Kyoko rolled her eyes. “This coming from the guy who failed to gain ten pounds when the doctor said it would be good for his health.”
“There is nothing wrong with having a mom body.” Makoto stated firmly, determination in his voice. “Do you have extra weight on you? Sure. Are your hips wider? Yes. Are you covered in stretch marks? Of course. But you know what? You’re still drop dead gorgeous. There’s nothing prettier than a mom body. It makes you look like the night sky.”
She blinked at him, not quite understanding what that analogy was supposed to mean. “The night sky?” She raised an eyebrow at him. Whatever he meant by that, she wasn’t sure anyone would have known. But in Makoto speak, it probably meant something sugary sweet.
“Don’t you think your stretch marks are like little constellations?”
No, she thought, I don’t. I’ve never looked at them that way… Was that really how he looked at them?
“I… suppose? I fail to see how this proves the idea of a mother’s body being alike the night sky.”
He reached over to tuck some of her hair behind her ear, laughing gently. “Alright, think of it this way: your body's like the night. It’s full and beautiful, for it’s held so much. You’ve given birth to three beautiful beings; tiny planets that grew within you.”
“... and my stretch marks are constellations.”
He nodded, his expression thoughtful. “Exactly. Having a mom body makes you just like the night sky, and you’re just as beautiful. You’re just as beautiful as a sky full of stars.”
She opened her mouth to speak, but all that came out was a gush of air. Such an analogy being used to describe her, it made her speechless. After years of inappropriate comments from others, and these deeply-rooted worries that he might not love her if she wasn’t so pretty anymore… a little idea he had lifted all the weight from her shoulders. There was nothing she could say that would thank him well enough for that; the only thing that came close enough was his name as she flung herself into his arms.
She made him stumble; her body crashing into his. She lucked out in him being able to retain his balance, nearly grabbing onto the edge of their bed with his free arm to ensure that would happen. His other arm wrapped tightly around her waist, and she couldn’t help but smile at the feeling of it. She hadn’t realized just how long it had been since she’d really allowed him to touch her torso.
“Kyoko…” He murmured, his lips to close to her ear that she felt as if she might shiver. “I want you to know that no matter what happens, or how you change… You’re always going to be beautiful to me.”
She laughed softly, pulling him in even tighter. “I’ll always be your night sky full of stars.”
A Tale of Rain, Pancakes and Cats
Commission story for @piecesofeight123 for a fluffy story of two cute lesbian witches living in a cozy home in the woods on a rainy day! I hope you enjoy it, dear! I think I’m in love with the oc’s I made for this <3
-
The daylight shines through the clouded sky, finding its way into a crack between the curtains hiding a small bedroom in a small cottage in the woods. The place is beyond cozy – one could instantly feel their worries being lifted if they walked in; it was like magic. Probably because, well, it was. You see, the people living there were witches.
The bright light spilled into the shape of a pale golden line over a large black cat that had been sleeping on a bed, and as it opened its bright yellow eyes, it let out a loud mewling noise, rolling on its back.
To the cat’s left, there was a woman sleeping under the blankets. She had auburn hair that was shaven on the sides and puffy on the top , and she groaned softly turning to the cat and placing her hand over its soft fur.
“Your noisy child is awake, my love.”
The woman, Lorelei, had a kind smile as she watched the other woman with dark bushy hair stretching her arms and placing her own hand over Lorelei’s on the cat’s stomach. The woman turned to face Lorelei with a smirk on her lips, eyes still closed.
“She’s only my child when she’s noisy, hmm?”
Lorelei giggles, staring at her beloved with an enamored look in her eyes.
“Your hair looks like an untamed ocean, Sirenia.” she says, eyes tracing the waves of unruly curls over her lover’s pillow “Crashing tides framing your beautiful face.”
Sirenia cracks an eye open, blushing at the way her wife just stares at her endlessly.
“You should write that one down. It’s pretty.” she moves her hand from the cat’s tummy – which earns her an annoyed meow – and runs her fingers over the fuzzy cropped hair on the side of her wife’s head “I like your new hair. I can see your earrings better.” She pokes Lorelei‘s cheek “When will you stop showing off those adorable dimples whenever you smile?”
Lorelei scoffed, sitting up and pulling the cat onto her lap.
“Is this an adorableness contest? Because you’re definitely winning with this adorable nose of yours. And the way you pout when you’re embarrassed like this.”
Sirenia sat up with a pout on her lips. She was tall, fat and beautiful, thighs perfect for Lorelei to lay her head on while they talked, big arms covered in intricate tattoos that would dance on her skin and a thick neck made to dangle her many necklaces from.
Lorelei, however, was short and curvy, wide hips, a pudgy stomach and broad shoulders. Sirenia would often say she looked stunning with hoop skirts and sleeveless blouses that showed her figure, and she loved the dangling noise of her many earrings occasionally clinking together.
A very shy Sirenia was about to respond Lorelei’s comments when the cat meowed loudly again, nibbling at Lorelei’s hand.
“Ow. I think someone wants breakfast.”
Sirenia bowed to the black cat in an exaggerated manner, speaking with an important voice.
“We apologize, your majesty, queen Pepper.”
Lorelei grabbed the cat under its armpits, making it jiggle its body.
“‘I forgive you this once because you are my court jester’” she said in a small, nosy voice “‘but this shall be the last time you mock my royal whiskers’!”
The cat purred contently while the two witches laughed, and kept doing so as she perched on Sirenia’s shoulder on her way to the kitchen.
Sirenia and Lorelei’s kitchen was cozy and small, much like the rest of the house. There was a wooden table with two chairs, many shelves filled with many jars full of colored things and a stove with no wood to feed the fire – they didn’t really need it.
Sirenia pointed an old wooden wand to point at the flour and butter to make them float up and into a bowl, and then at the eggs so that they would crack and pour into it as well, singing to herself. She then started drawing spirals in the air with her wand, and the ingredients began mixing and blending together. Meanwhile, the soft patter of rain outside soon turned heavier, and Sirenia breathed in the smell of rain, watching it out of the kitchen window while she cooked.
The cat, Pepper, stared fascinated at the wand as it moved, very entertained eyes following its every movement.
“I wonder where’s your momma.” Sirenia said to the cat as she made the batter move into a flow that landed on a frying pan over an old stove to then conjure some fire under the pan, making the very first of many pancakes “She’s gonna be late for breakfast.”
A wind blew the semi-sheer curtain hanging from the kitchen’s doorframe, sweeping it out of Lorelei’s way as she walked inside, cropped auburn hair messed over the top of her head. She carried a basket filled with fruits and many different blue and white flowers. She had an old, worn out wooden stick placed behind her ear, and when Sirenia turned to look at her, she overdid the spell to flip her pancake, and the thing went flying up in the air before Lorelei caught it with a grin, bringing it to her mouth and eating a bite.
“Why are you still carrying your wand like this?” Sirenia asked with a small laugh of disbelief “Have you forgotten how you got the tips of your hair burned?”
“Nah, I’ve been wanting a haircut for a while!” Lorelei said with her mouth stuffed with pancake “Speaking of my hair, a bird sat on it while I was summoning the fruits into the basket. Unbelievable. It only left when I gave it not one but three raspberries. It just kept coming back and sitting up there again… then, - then! – it came a drizzle that turned to pouring rain on my bird nest of a hair, so I had to cast a bubble spell over myself and had to rush back home so… hey, stop laughing!”
But Sirenia’s laughter is the bubbliest, most adorable sound, and soon Lorelei is laughing along while she sets the basket on the table and walks around the counter to wrap her arms around her wife’s waist, humming quietly.
“You are impossible.” and she kisses Sirenia’s cheek while another pancake flips itself on the pan “Smells so good.”
“Yeah, I think it’ll come up nicely.”
“I wasn’t talking about the pancakes, love.”
“Oh, stop that now and go set the table for us. And no sneaking food to Pepper. She knows she should behave better, and you, madam, are an enabler.”
Lorelei goes to the small cabinet by the window, grabbing two plates with stars painted on the glass surface. The stars dance and swirl under the witch’s finger as she sets them on the table.
“The birds and the cats, all of them mocking me and taking advantage of my innocence just because I can’t say no to a chubby and cute creature when they ask me for stuff.”
“Is that why you never say no to me?” Sirenia says with a laugh, piling up pancake after pancake on a big plate
“That is exactly why and you know it.” Lorelei shrugs, grabbing a pair of mugs from the cabinet; the mugs have hand-made paintings of Pepper, and the tiny cat in one of them runs around the mug while the other sleeps, tiny ‘Z’ letters floating over its head “You and Pepper both.”
After eating delicious fruit-filled pancake wraps, the two witches lay on a deep blue hammock hanging by the back door of the cottage, Sirenia sitting between Lorelei’s legs that hung out of the hammock. Lorelei wore a beautiful crown of white and blue flowers while she braided another one over Sirenia voluminous curls herself. Pepper slept soundly on a puffy pillow placed by the door especially for her, and Lorelei pressed a kiss to the back of Sirenia’s head.
“Done. I couldn’t make you any prettier because I don’t think that’s possible so, uh… sorry.”
Sirenia snorted, turning her head to look at her wife over her shoulder.
“Don’t be silly.”
“Also not possible, I’m afraid.”
Sirenia pressed a kiss to Lorelei’s lips, sighing happily. She then turned back and shifted to lie on top of Lorelei’s chest, closing her eyes and breathing in the leafy scent of the woods and rain surrounding them. It was a beautiful morning, and the cicadas sang along with the rain as it dripped down the roof of the witche’s home in clear strings of water beads.
“I love you so much, dear.” Sirenia sighed happily
Lorelei slowly leaned back until they were both lying down, rocking very softly on the comfy hammock, humming at the perfect feeling of being together with the love of her life.
“I love you too, sweetheart.”
The Cosplay AU I need a name for
(Previous parts found on my cosplay au tag!)
It’s maybe two weeks after Otakon when Yuuri checks his email. He has stuff from his school about prepping for the incoming school year and a message from his class President about a seniors only gathering at the Party Bridge near campus.
He also sees one, subject: HI! <3 from sender [email protected].
Yuuri immediately slams his laptop closed.
He covers his mouth with his hands and squeaks. His best buddy (who is not human) comes bounding off his bed to his desk with concern. Vicchan, his reddish brown toy poodle (yes, named after guess who) is Yuuri’s favorite thing in the world.
He gets his phone, opens the mail app. Right there in the inbox, marked unread. HI! <3, sender [email protected].
Yelping, Yuuri closes his eyes and opens the email like it’s a bomb.
Hi, Yuuri! This is Victor, from Otakon? I saw your email on your entry form---hope you don’t mind! Anyways, I have a project in mind for Katsucon in February, and I thought you might be interested in partnering up with me! I know you usually work with your friend, but this is a special idea I’ve had for forever and I feel like after seeing your work up close, you’re the perfect fit!
If you’re able, I’d like to get together soon to begin discussion---it’s going to be tricky to source some of the materials, especially the lace! Can we meet for dinner this weekend? Say, Saturday at six, The Source on Pennsylvania---it’ll be my treat!
Thanks, talk to you soon! <3
Victor
Yuuri screams. He’s home alone---his mom is at her book club with her old friend, Minako, his dad is golfing at Lansdowne, and his sister is away for the week with her college friends---so he doesn’t need to come up with a lie about the reason for the screams.
He calls number three on his favorites, though.
“Hey, this is Phichit,” he answers on ring #2.
“Oh my God,” Yuuri cries. “Oh my God, he wants a costume, me, us, a pair---oh my God.”
“...What?” Phichit answers.
“VICTOR EFFING NIKIFOROV WANTS TO DO A PAIR COSPLAY WITH ME,” Yuuri shouts.
“Holy shit,” Phichit replies.
“Right?” Yuuri tries to slow his heart. “What do I say? I don’t...it’s not you, it’s a pairs thing, I don’t---”
“Okay, whoa, stop,” Phichit replies. “You are not contractually obligated to only ever cosplay with me. You can do a thing with him, I’m not offended as long as you don’t completely abandon our partnership. I’ll probably do that Bleach outfit you have no interest in, it’s fine! Do the thing!”
“You sure?” Yuuri says.
“Yeah, but I’ll need your help,” Phichit says. “I can sculpt the actual Bankai stuff myself, but sewing the uniform is a little above my pay grade.”
“No problem,” Yuuri says with a sheepish grin. “Okay. Um---I better email him back. Thanks, Phichit. You’re a peach.”
“Yup, sure am!” Phichit laughs. “Talk to you later---my mom needs help with the pool.”
“Can I come swim later?” Yuuri asks.
“Yup! Leo and Guang-Hong are coming, Seung Gil maybe too. I’ll text you a time. Later, skater.” Phichit hangs up.
Yuuri reopens his computer like it’ll bite his hand off.
Hi, Victor,
I’d love to meet with you! I’ll google the address and take the Metro. My cell is 571-585-1090 if you need to change plans or are running late.
See you Saturday!
Yuuri
It’s Thursday. He can...be cool for two days.
Actually, no he couldn’t, as was evidenced by his mother on Friday night during their evening ritual of Catan begging him to try to stay still. He did not. Therefore his dad made him forfeit his sheep.
Catan is an equilizer in the Katsuki household.
Yuuri can’t sleep, his nerves buzzing too much even though he played white noise through the headphones in his iPhone. Did nothing. Vicchan slept like everything was normal.
Yuuri gets up way too early, obsesses way too long over his clothing, finally deciding he was as good as he can get, drives to the Silver Line, and begins the trek to the District. He gets off at the correct stop, walks to the restauant, and immediately regretts all of his choices up until that moment including being born.
He is in a nice pair of jeans and a t-shirt. It’d a Wolfgang Puck dim sum restaurant. Oh no why, Victor will think he lacks culture.
“Yuuuuuri!” calls a happy, familiar voice.
Yuuri starts and his eyes go wide.
Victor stands before him in a linen dress shirt and a pair of salmon colored pants. His hair and skin are flawless. His eyes are beautiful. Yuuri’s heart stops and restarts. “Hi,” he manages. The shyness comes to the forefront. He wants---he isn’t sure, but...it’s something more than a hello.
He gets a hug. Victor grabs him like they’re old friends, and Yuuri hesitates but hugs him back. He pauses and takes a moment to inhale his scent---it’s not that shitty sandwalwood the douchebags at his school wear, it’s lighter...like lemon balm.
Victor keeps a hand low on his waist as he steers him to request a table. They get a cute one for two like it’s a date. (Is it a date? Did Victor mean this as a date? Thirteen year old Yuuri will die of joy if it’s a date. It in no way can be a date.)
Victor smiles, looking like Yuuri just gave him a rainbow. “I’m glad you came,” he says.
Yuuri chokes on his water. “Uh, thanks? Um...me too.”
Victor grins. “I guess I should get down to business first. Unfortunately, it has to come before...pleasure.”
Yuuri pushes up his eyeglasses. He nods.
Victor pulls up an image on his phone, passing it to Yuuri. Yuuri peers down at it---it’s an elaborate fanart of Fuuma and Kamui from X/1999. They have very detailed wings, there’s obvious hand beading and embroidery on their outfits, and they’re perfectly tailored. Fuuma is in white, Kamui black, and there are red ribbons cascading off both of them. “Red string of fate,” Yuuri says out loud.
“You spotted that,” Victor replies with a grin.
“I’ll have to get help from Phichit on the wings, I’ve never done them on my own,” Yuuri continues.
“I have, that I can handle,” Victor says. “It’s more how finely tailored the outfits are. My tailoring is always a bit weak, so I tend to do costumes that don’t have quite such an emphasis. I have access to embroidery machines on campus, so I can have you come up to work on those. It’ll be more expedient.”
“The beading I can do in class, the home ec department is out of stuff to teach me so they just let me bring in my projects,” Yuuri admits.
Victor gives him a look. “Wow,” he says. “And you’re...just in...high school.”
“Hm, well I turn eighteen Thanksgiving day this year,” Yuuri says. “I need to figure out college stuff soon, as a matter of fact.”
“You should come here!” Victor blurts.
Yuuri starts and looks up. “Um...”
“The Corocoran,” Victor clears up with a blush on his cheeks. “They have a production focus in their Theater program. You could...major in costuming? It’s...well, it’s an idea.”
Hm.
“Phichit’s applying there,” Yuuri says as he zooms back in on the image. CLAMP and their Christian idolatry, yikes. “He’s going into the fine arts. I guess I could think about it.”
“I just think it’d be nice to have you around school with me,” Victor says. His finger glides over the rim of his glass in a slow pattern. “Chris Giacometti is in the photography department, but...I’d like seeing you every day too. Just think about it.”
Yuuri meets his eyes and...no, he’s imagining it. He clears his throat. “You want to make these for Katsucon?”
“Mmhmm,” Victor says. He ordered them the duck, and it arrives, smelling crisp and mouth-watering. Yuuri is starving, he realizes. He looks at Victor again, this gorgeous guy even out of cosplay and make up and Photoshop and he---
He blushes and focuses on his dinner.
Victor chats the whole time, Yuuri chiming in where appropriate. When they finish and Victor pays as promised, he takes him on a walk. It’s late enough the murky, humid swampland that is DC has become manageable to walk around, and it’s not even ten minutes to the Mall from the restaurant.
Yuuri mostly sees shots of the Tidal Basin at night from the end credits of his favorite local news program, but Victor escorts him there with a hand on his back as he extols the virtues of his university as well as his skills at sewing. Yuuri listens and smiles with pink cheeks, telling Victor about what he likes to do besides cosplay---video games with his friends, late nights at the Amphora diner in Reston, checking out Starland in Annandale.
Victor opens up about his parents---his father a supervisor for a lab at Langley, his mom in the State Department, his dog Makkachin who he moved off campus into a pet-allowing studio as quickly as possible to keep by his side, how he misses the local chain called Another Universe and how he’s considering Dragoncon next year to branch out into film and American comics costumin.
They both marvel at how many times they’ve come to the annual Sakura Matsuri in their very spot at this moment and somehow never met.
The lights are pretty, the stars reflect in the water like sequins embellishing a black velvet gown, and Yuuri with all his heart longs for this to be a date.
He’s imagining it---but some moments, it looks like Victor feels the same.
They head back to the Metro by the Newseum---Victor to GWU, Yuuri to Tysons. “Let’s do again this soon,” Victor says.”We can meet at G Street, see what our local options are, and head to my apartment for more planning.”
“Okay,” Yuuri agrees. Victor’s apartment, he exalts in his head.
“Ah, Yuuri---” Victor adds. “I have a Gaylord room for Katsu, a nice one with a view. Would you like a spot in it? There’s room for one more.”
“Oh um---” Yuuri stumbles. He’s never stayed overnight at a con before, but he’ll be 18 then. His mom and dad can’t refuse, though they’d probably want to meet Victor for reassurance.“Yes.”
“Okay,” Victor says, his smile shaped like a big heart. “Talk to you soon! I’ll text!”
“See you,” Yuuri says.
They part ways, and Yuuri can’t sleep for the second night in a row, his heart pounds so hard as his smile threatens to split his face.
Cutie Reviews: Kawaii Box June 2017
As promised, I decided to do this one first. But there may be “a bit less-text” than usual, I hurt my wrist earlier and it kind of hurts when I type. I quote that because I’ll probably write a lot despite that.
Tumblr media
HAVE A SUNNY SUMMER!
Tumblr media
Starting us up tonight are the two edibles we got in this crate, the Heart Gudetama Pudding DIY Kit, and the Meito Puku Puku Tai Fish Shaped Wafer. As usual I’ll be covering the DIY in a different post, but I did open and taste the Wafer. If you never had these before, they are essentially a two-sided wafer fish filled with an airy bubble chocolate (which is so good and melty in your mouth~♥). I’ve had chocolate a few times, and strawberry in a different treat- and since I love strawberries I was pretty excited.
It was yummy, 10 out of 5, best item, buy it now  ◟(◔ั₀◔ั )◞
Tumblr media
Here we have a cute little set of Japanese Stick Markers. They must be really popular because we keep getting them in these crates as of late, although I honestly have no use for them as of late. These are really cute though, especially the little kitties~ 4 out of 5. In my case they’re not very practical, but their small size and thickness makes them work fairly well and I’m sure they would come in handy for a lot of people.
Tumblr media
I was so excited to see these Pastel Animals Stickers. Only once in my first box did we get stickers like these ones, but I think these ones are even fancier. They were both scented (much to my delightful surprise), the first was grape and had a cat and mouse theme, while this set features several cute characters with a lovely strawberry scent ♥ 5 out of 5. I love them!
Now if only Kawaii Box would start giving us those anime-ish dress-up stickers~
Tumblr media
Next for two completely un-related items. Here we have a cute pair of Gudetama Socks. I got the adorable bee gudetama :3 As much as I hate wearing socks in the house, I have no problem with them outside; especially cute ones ♥ and what’s cuter than Gudetama wearing a bee striped egg shell?
3.5 out of 5. I really like them, but thinking realistically, the socks may only fit some people. I have smaller feet, but I noticed even then they end up being sort of snug. The soft fabric is also easy to snag on things and tear, or have a few loose strings already (which happened with a past pair I got). They are usually always in good shape, but I felt it was important to remark on that.
Next to it is the Amuse Mameshiba Plushie. This is the third one I got from the same series, but I do believe I never got this one yet. I could be wrong though.
Anyway, what’s great about these cuties is that you can carry them around through your phone or other chains, and use their smooth tummies to clean screens of your devices. They’re highly practical in the sense they’re both cute and useful, and I think they work pretty well. 4 out of 5.
Tumblr media
This is the third item in a row that has me convinced Kawaii Box might be mind-readers. You can see why in this topic I made about a month or so ago, but long-story short, it was on my list of top 10 items I’d want in the box. For the third box in a row, I got an item on the list (such as molang and the bear bread maker), or items I intended to put but didn’t (like the nail polish from the last box). Actually, now that I mention it, those stickers higher up in the topic was also on my list... Okay, four things ( •⌄• ू )✧
So anyway, this is the Molang Keychain. There is a huge variety of these Cuties one could obtain (check the above topic to see a pic of most of them. I love the pink heart themed one ♥), and I think I got a pretty cute one. They’re made out of a thick rubber/plastic and include cute little charms on the chain. I can’t say it’s cuddly- but it’s awfully kawaii~ 5 out of 5.
With Molang we also got a cute exclusive Blippo Pastel Star Bracelet. I love that we get little Blippo items in our boxes, it’s so sweet of them ♥ It’s a simple star and silver bead bracelet, nothing fancy. But it’s so cute. I will mention that despite my thin wrists, it still felt a little tight, and it isn’t super-stretchy, so I was careful while pulling it on. 4 out of 5. If the string was a bit looser/stretchy it would have been perfect.
Tumblr media
The last items for the day are these two, fun stationary gadgets. Including a fun, simple Let’s Play Gel Pen, with a cute crayon-like charm hanging from it (and a fun little red wax ball on the tip that had to be pulled off first). It’s a basic ink pen but it writes smoothly, which I like. 3 out of 5. The colors are sweet, and the Pen is sure to bring a smile, but it’s not the cutest pen I’ve ever got in these crates. I’ve been spoiled by their decorativeness~
Next is another item I always have fun with, a Korean Deco Tape Set. I LOVE deco tapes (as any other person who enjoys creative things or adding a splash of color to otherwise drab items), so to get such a bit, cute little set like this really made my day~
Tumblr media
However, there is one glaring problem...
To get the tape onto the little tape holder, you need to pull one of the sides off to slide it on the roll in the middle. When I was trying to do this, as careful as I was- I nearly broke one of the sides. It cracked twice, and now it seems a bit loose. It still works, but I’m kinda terrified of breaking it ( •᷄⌓•᷅ )
As much as I like it, I will rank it a 3.5 out of 5. I wish the little tape thingy was made from an easier material to pull apart, or at least has more support. But maybe the more you pull it apart, the easier it becomes...
♥ Cutie Ranking ♥
Content - 3.5 out of 5. I liked the stuff inside, but a few items did gain a middle scoring.
Total Rank: 13.5 out of 15 Cuties. I loved the past two boxes a lot, and I really liked this one too. I’m not entirely sure if I liked it as much, but I did really like it! As usual the quality and practically is a perfect scoring so I didn’t include them in the above.
If you’re interested in any of the items check out the Blippo website or Kawaii Box to sign up!
♥ Cutie Scale ♥
(As usual I don’t include the DIY)
1. Molang Keychain - Irresistibly kawaii and chubby~
2. Stickers - So sweet and pretty, I love their perfumey strawberry scent~ I also like the cute character designs and ornaments in each sticker.
3. Mameshiba Plushie - It’s a cute little box-shaped doggy :D
4. Gel Pen - The pretty colors are sure to brighten up your day. I love the little charm- even though I’m not sure what it’s supposed to be.
5. Gudetama Socks - Not only is Gudetama large and sweet in his bee costume, but the patterns and detail surrounding him are made from pure cuteness!
6. Korean Deco Tape - Their small-ness makes them so sweet and cute. If a bit concerning...
7. Stick Markers - the little Japanese symbols are perfect for fans of Japanese culture :D
8. Star Bracelet - it’s the perfect pop accessory!
9. Fish Shaped Wafer - Plenty cute, but once you eat it the cuteness is gone.
Alrighty Cuties, that’ll be it for this months Kawaii Box. Surprisingly it is marked for June, and it is June. Usually these are off a month (for example, in October you might get the September or November box. I don’t remember how that was working.), so it was a nice surprise to see they fixed that somehow.
Anyway, next is my most favorite, the Tokyo Treat Box! I’m so excited! Until next time, stay cute!
Friendship Thursday
Hello everyone, Mr.E here with loads of duct tape and glue. So how about that finale?: and for those who haven’t seen it. I’m here for you. Anyway I finally managed to fight off busy life and sickness and finish this prompt from @wholesome-week Yes....i know...trust me I knoooow how late i am but I was working on it all month as it gave me a surprising amount of trouble. but even if it was prompt, i decided to make it really fluff. I actually rewrote a small part of it to up the fluffiness because i’ve seen the fandom’s reaction. So here’s some notes before we begin
First, there are 3 parts to this. the first part is self explanatory though does have some spoilers from the SVTFOE deep trouble comic number 2. The second part is canon Star vs before the blood moon ball. this mean someone is singing, this means someone else is singing  and this is the pair together and the 3rd part to this is a prequel but you’ll know what i mean when you get there. That’s it for me. have an amazing week, i should have more stories up because I owe birthday gifts and stay sane! We are here for you. bye for now!
A long time ago, in a kingdom called Mewni.
“Come on! It'll be fun Moon!”
Moon rolled her eyes, white gloved hands clasped firmly together. She was wearing her customary bell shaped dress of varying shades of pink, an outfit she was told under no circumstance she was to get dirty. A rule River Johansen clearly did not understand.
“River” Moon's face was set in stony indifference “I can't see how spending the day in the Forest of Certain Doom could be.....fun.”
River scoffed cheerfully “You're the princess of Mewni. Where's your sense of adventure?”
“You are a Johansen” Moon shot back “Where is your sense of self preservation?”
“I think you answered your own question princess.”
Moon blinked, unable to believe that River Johansen of all people had outsmarted her.
“Come on Moon” River pleaded, lip trembling, his sky blue eyes wide and tearing up “I just want to hang out with you. You've been pretty distance since.....you know”
Moon shifted uncomfortably at the subtle reference to their former friend Dirt.
True while Dirt might've been a little pushy in his false affection towards Moon and far too cruel and indifference towards River, Moon still couldn't believe he was an assassin set to end the Butterfly line and take the wand.
Moon wasn't shaken by the fact Dirt pretended to be a friend. Her mother warned her of such things.
No it was the fact that she allowed him to get so close. So close that she would've never suspected he would try to kill her.
She needed to keep her distance from people, from allowing anyone to get that close again. She was the future of the Butterfly dynasty and her safety was paramount.
“And what” Moon asked after a moment a silence “is the reason we're going to the Forest? I mean it is what...Thursday?”
“Exactly!” River beamed cheerfully “Friendship Thursday!”
Moon raised an eyebrow
“Well....” River paused “my family has something called Family Thursday. It's when we get together and you know, hang out. Just reaffirm our bonds. I figured if it works so well for them, why not...you know....us?”
“I...”
“Come on Moon” River pouted “You need to get out. You've been locked up in that castle for the last week and I get it, everyone's on edge because you almost died but that's no excuse to stop living. It's just one day and you can kick my butt if anything happens.”
“River....” Moon began but the look of desperation River was giving her was enough to crumble her resolve.
“Fine” Moon relented “Only for a few hours okay?”
“Awesome” Moon felt herself smiling despite her attempts to remain composed, River's goofy, carefree smile infectious.
Moon regretted her decision at once.
The Forest of Certain Doom was seasonally humid, uncomfortably so during this time of year and despite the forest canopy and the shade it brought, it was the air that was causing the most suffering and dressed in stuffy, poorly ventilated royal outfits did not help the matter any.
“River” Moon tried to keep the annoyance out of her voice “I know I agreed to come outdoors into the...umm forest....but...”
There was a loud snarl and a sudden rustling that filled the air. Without warning, a large monstrous purple gator pushed through the brush, jaws lunging and snapping at anything within sight.
Moon rolled her eyes, lazily drawing her wand and taking aim at the ferocious beast.
River grinned happily to himself, muscles flexed as he prepared to tackle this new and amazing creature when a large rainbow sailed directly into the gator's waiting maw.
The eyes budged out for a moment as the gator reared back, its comically tiny legs flailing everywhere while it gagged and coughed, trying to loosen the refracted light clogging its throat.
River grimaced as Moon strolled pass, one hand loosely on her wand, the other rubbing her temple tiredly.
“River, I know you mean well” Moon sighed “but I don't need to be out here. I really should go back. I have princess things to do...and practicing with my wand and stuff....”
“wait! WAIT! We're here!” River gestured to the clearing around them, the gator still thrashing wildly behind him.
Moon glanced about, unimpressed by River's grand surprise: There was a log, there was the wild sky gator currently choking on her spell and some bushes. Overall nothing special for the Forest of Certain Doom. Well scratch that, the fact they were able to stand in this clearing without something attacking for a grand total of 20 seconds was special. A personal record but not worth the journey.
River kept his smile plastered on even as Moon gave him a deadpanned stare that screamed “I am not liking this. At all.” he could feel beads of sweats run down his neck, the heat not helping while he tried to keep his composure.
This wasn't working? WHY WASN'T IT WORKING?! He counted the right amount steps, he followed the pieces of tatter clothing he left behind the last few times he ventured into the forest. He was certain Moon was going to love the surprise but so far it seemed his grand plan was a total failure. Again.
Moon sighed as she began to walk back towards Mewni. She was unsure why she agreed to humor him. This was a waste of time and while she knew his intention were pure, she really was in no mood for this misadventure.
“Wait this isn't it....” Moon stopped in her tracks as she heard River rustle about, the foliage nearly drowning out his grunts of effort.
“River?” Moon questioned while she turned back, her curiosity far outweighing her irritation.
“There we go! TA DA!”
Moon was greeted with the familiar sight of a dirt covered, stained River, arms outstretched in a hopefully gesture, splitting an obstructing bush down the middle.
Behind the viking prince was beautiful pond. Its surface was calm and still despite the chaos that surrounded it this deep in the forest. The water was a crystal clear blue that sparkled as bright as the stars that hung overhead at night. Moon could hear the echoing of rushing water far in the distance that was soothing and put the young princess at ease.
“Do you like it?” River asked eagerly, his bright blue eyes wide with expectation.
Moon found her lips curving into a smile, her eyes softening at the natural beauty that lay before.
“I...”
Crack.
Moon and River shared a confused stare. Their gaze fell on the still struggling gator who was clutching at its throat dramatically.
Crack.
Moon looked back to River and River stared back at Moon.
Snap.
“Whoa!” River managed to get out before disappearing out of view, the sounds of crunching leaves, branches and dirt harmonizing with River's elated screams.
“River!” Moon cried out but before she could take a single step, there was a splash and a joyful burst of laughter.
Moon gripped the helm of her dress carefully, making her way down the previously unseen hill, concern still biting at her despite the lack of any real danger.
When Moon finally reached the bottom, there was River, laughing without restrain, his smile wide and gleaming as several multi-colored fish flopped about: Leaping over his head, skimming the surface of the pond as they playfully nudged the soaked teen with their heads.
Maybe it was the stress of the past few weeks. Maybe it was how absolutely ridiculous River looked just sitting there in the pond, making no effort to get out and instead deciding to play with the various fish that now surrounded him. Maybe it was just how carefree he seemed. Not a single worry. No crushing weight of the kingdom overhead. No fear about the future of the Butterfly.
Just a viking and his fish.
And despite her best effort, she started to snicker, something she wasn't used to and soon she started giggling which bleed naturally into snorting wildly as she desperately tried to hold it in but failed to do so.
“Wow....” River's daze voice broke her out of her fitful chuckling “You got a cute snort.”
Moon could feel her cheeks redden against her will, her gloved hand instinctively flying to her mouth and blocking River's view of her.
“I like it.”
Moon stared dumbfounded at the viking who just sat there, same goofy smile he held the whole time.
River wasn't really complex....but that wasn't a bad thing.
Moon made her way to the edge of the water and crouched low though still careful not to dirty her dress.
“So...” Moon muttered softly with a small smile “Friendship Thursday huh? I like it.”
River couldn't contain his grin and neither could Moon.
Present day, Earth
“Friendship Thursday?” Marco questioned as he made his way over to the waiting magical princess who was currently trying to launch into space by using his couch as a launch pad “Is this a Mewni thing?”
“No no noooo” Star shook her head energetically “It's a Butterfly thing! A great and hallowed time honored tradition dating back...umm...blah blah blah years. Now come on!”
Marco yelped while Star pulled him closer, grabbing his arm tightly and dragging him into the seat next to her.
“Star!” Marco scolded, gently placing the nachos on the table “You need to be more careful, you almost made me drop the nachos.”
Marco cooed at his nachos but Star paid it no mind. She was far more interested in what Marco had plan for their first ever Friendship Thursday!
“Soooo Marco!” Star anxiously pawed at his arm “What are we doing? What we doing? Watching the magic box? OOOOOOH playing in the magic box! WHAT ARE WE DOING MARCO?! MAGIC PUPPET SHOW!?”
“haha calm down Star. I figured if this is our first Friendship Thursday, we can start off simple. Just me and you watching a movie. Sound good?”
“Magic puppet show!” Star cheered, raising her arms happily in the air
Marco rolled his eyes “Yes Star, magic puppet show.”
“YAY!” Star beamed, sky blue eyes twinkling with a joy that could not be matched.
Marco chuckled, still unable to believe someone as cute Star existed.
“What are we watching?” Star asked impatiently, still pawing at Marco's arm like some sort of playful cat.
“Well I figured you liked How to Train Your dragons so much....”
“ooooo!” Star cut in, blue eyes bright and sparkling “ THE GIANT FLYING LIZARDS? We're watching it again? Yes!”
Marco chuckled “No Star, we're watching part 2.”
Star gasped dramatically, her lips curled into an O while she clutched at her face with both hands “There's a 2?! YAY!”
Marco shook his head, reaching for the control before taking his seat, Star giving one final bounce before dropping onto the couch without warning.
“You know I'm still surprised Earth has vikings” Star said nonchalantly
“Oh yeah” Marco nodded, a past memory flashing into his head “Your dad's a viking right?”
“mhm!” Star gave a cheerful nod “I mean he is royalty but 100% a viking.”
“Neat” Marco murmured as the opening title sequence pulled up on the television.
Marco crept towards the living room quietly, trying his hardest not to disturb Star's enjoyment of the movie. He needed to sneak away for a moment to use the little bad boy's room though he doubt Star noticed. She was far too engrossed in the new cute lizards, Hictrid and the general good time that came with watching the sequel to her favorite Earth movie.
Honestly, it was a little too quiet for Marco's taste given Star's natural explosive nature. When he left, she was gasping at the news Hiccup's mother was in fact still alive. He could hear the cheers and tearful moments while confined in the tiny space but now, making his way back to his seat in the front of row of the theater, there was nothing.
Marco paused, his ears perking at something that hadn't been there before.
There was a low, melodic hum that filled the air. A soft, gentle flute-like tone that sung softly, hitting every pitch perfectly despite its volume.
Marco leaned forward as the muted pitter patter of feet joined in, a bouncy yet ever so quiet.
Marco peeked around the corner quietly and his brown eyes widen at the sight that lay before.
It was Star, no longer confined to the couch but behind it, her long sunshiney blonde hair  swaying back and forth as she glided across the floor, humming with the quietest hushed tone Marco had ever heard her use.
Her eyes were closed, dancing with an invisible partner.
Marco gazed on with wonder as Star moved back and forth with a previously unknown grace. Each movement was precise, effortless and smooth as any classically trained dancer Marco had ever seen.
Marco took a step forward as Star began to sing, slow and softly, her airy voice joining in with Stoik's thick, gravelly singing
“I'll swim and sail on savage seas” Star whispered, bowing to some unseen partner “With ne'er a fear of drowning”
Marco continued on, completely awestruck by Star's hidden talent.
Star was lost in her own world, eyes still shut and blind to the world around her as she outstretched her hand, her tone clear and strong despite how gentle “And gladly ride the waves of life......If you would marry me”
“I didn't know you knew how to dance.”
Star's eyes snapped open, her grace and charm vanishing into thin air as she whirled her arms uncontrollably, teetering on the edge of falling face first onto the ground
“WHOA!” she cried out as her body began its free fall.
“Star!”
Star flinched, body tensed for the anticipation of pain but was confused a moment later when no such thing befell her.
Star cracked open eye, her sky blue orb darting about while she pieced together what happened.
Marco held her by the waist, holding on tight with both arms as Star hung haphazardly, her body bent an angle with a leg high in the air.
Star turned one way only to find herself staring at the polished, clean tile of the Diaz household. Star turned the other way and was greeted with a relieved Marco, a small smile dancing on his lips.
“Hi Marco!” Star beamed, returning her best friend's grin “Thanks for catching me though you really shouldn't sneak up on people. It's rude.”
Marco pulled Star to her feet, his face sheepish and embarrassed “Sorry” he scratched the back of his head helpfully “I thought I heard something and I come out here to see you dancing and singing.”
“Oh....psst, no worries” Star waved off Marco's comment, desperately trying to hide her reddening cheeks “I couldn't resist! You didn't tell me Earth had the same songs as Mewni!”
“Huh? What are you...?”
“Duh” Star rolled her eyes, gesturing to the movie “For the dancing and the dreaming? That's the song my dad used to sing to my mom.”
“Whoa, really? I didn't know that.”
“Really? So cool.”
“Who knew Earth and Mewni had so much in common.” Marco smiled cheerfully.
“My dearest one, my darling dear”
“Marco” Star whispered, her smile shifting from happy to mischievous
“Your mighty words astound me”
“Umm, Star?”
“YOU interrupted my dance.”
“umm....” Marco took a step back as Star took one forward, closing the gap between them.
“But I've no need for mighty deeds”
“That means you need to dance with me....”
“Star! I...”
“When I feel your arms around me”
“Marco” Star said with a tone of finality, gripping his hand with her own as she guided the other to her waist “This is happening.”
Marco gulped, opting to nod in defeat. the song sped up at once, its joyful and lively beat overtaking the best friends.
“But I would bring you rings of gold, I'd even sing you poetry.”
Marco let out a happy laugh as Star spun him around, twisting and turning while shooting him the cutest smirk.
“And I would keep you from all harm, If you would stay beside me”
Marco's hand slipped from Star's waist while the other gripped her hand tightly to prevent her from flying away from him.
“I have no use for rings of gold, I care not for your poetry”
Marco planted his foot firmly, coming to a complete stop as Star was still caught in a dizzying spin.
“I only want your hand to hold!”
with flick of his waist, Star was sent into a twirl, her blonde hair trailing after her as she expertly pivoted on the balls of her feet.
“I only want you near me”
Star's grin could be barely contained on her face as Marco caught her, his hands in her hers while her hair flowed over her shoulder.
“To love and kiss to sweetly hold, For the dancing and the dreaming”
The pair's joyous laughter filled the empty room as they swayed and bounce to and fro, their movements perfect and synced
“Through all life's sorrows and delights, I'll keep your laugh inside me”
“Star! STAR!” Marco cried out between his fits of laughing “WE NEED TO STOP!”
“Nah uh safe kid!” Stat teased with a wink “the song's not over yet!”
“I'll swim and sail on savage seas, With ne'er a fear of drowning”
It was Star's turn, grabbing onto Marco's hand and launching them into a reckless spin, their giggles and chuckling overlapping in a harmonious melody without a care in the world.
“I'd gladly ride the waves so white, if you will marry me!”
Marco fell free of Star and the shift in weight caused the duo to sink to the floor, laughing all the while as they slid across the smooth surface
“Haha, man that was fun!” Marco shouted
“I didn't know you can dance Marco!” Star gushed as she jumped to her feet.
“haha a little” Marco chuckled, lifting himself off the ground and wiping away any dust and dirt that may have ended up on his clothes.
“That was not a little.” Star scolded with a playful edge while the best friends made their way back to their seat.
“Haha well I'm not telling you” Marco stuck out his tongue as they settled back onto the couch, cozily nestling against each other while film went on.
“Psst fine.” Star said with a shrug “I bet you're terrible waltzing”
“haha maybe if you're good, you'll find out”
“aww, tell me Marco! Tell me tell me tell me!”
20 years in the future.
“Hi Mr. and Mrs. Diaz-Butterfly” Connor called out as he made his way into the household, waving cheerfully towards the older couple relaxing on the couch without a care in the world.
“Hi Connor” Marco replied respectfully.
“CONNIE! HIIIIII!” Star answered with an excited wave.
Connor chuckled nervously.
“What are you doing here?” Marco questioned in a mock suspicious tone.
Connor opened his mouth
“He's here for Friendship Thursday daddy.”
Connor turned and glanced up the stairs, Nova waving at him eagerly as she made her way towards him.
She was wearing her adorable bluish pink sleep dress, her long brown hair freed from their usual twin tails and sprayed wildly all over her back. Her devil horns now two cute, soft looking cat ears.
“You really weren't kidding when you said it was pajama day....” Connor muttered
Nova looked unimpressed at the sight of Connor in his white shirt and brown khakis “and you really brought your street clothes? Four eyes I told you pjs! These are not pjs.”
“First of all” Connor countered as he reached for his bag “I thought you were lying”
“Me, lie? Never!”
“Second” Connor went on “I brought it. It's in my bag. Let me go change.”
“Okay four eyes, you know where the bathroom is. I'll set up the movie.”
“You'll set up the movie?” Marco questioned with a raised eyebrow while Connor disappeared out of sight.
Nova coughed, making her way to the blanket covered floor surround her parents and the couch “Well, I mean you already have the movie in the player right?”
“Riiiight.”
“So there's no need for me to do it. I wouldn't want to ruin your hard work.”
“You know” Marco muttered to himself, his eyes glancing upward thoughtfully “I'm thinking we should watch a different movie....”
“no!” Nova cried out “I mean you love this movie so why change it?”
“I don't know” Star added in helpfully “I'm kinda changed my mind.....you know, maybe it is a good idea if we watch something else.”
“Guys!” Nova couldn't keep the helpless whine out of her voice.
Marco and Star burst into laughter “haha we're kidding, we're kidding.”
“yeah Novy, they always joke like that” Sol's cute voice called from upstairs, his tiny pitter pattering echoing softly throughout the home.
“Mijo” Rafael scolded as he and Angie came out of the kitchen “don't tease Nova like that.”
Nova beamed in appreciation “Thank you grandpa!”
“You make fun of her when her novio is here.”
Nova paled at her grandpa's words “Grandpa, Connor no es mi novio.”
“I say, are we talking about Nova's boyfriend again?” River called out as he and Moon strolled out of the mystical portal that appeared in the middle of the household.
Nova's only response was a groan of irritation and defeat.
“Don't worry sweetie” Moon offered gently, holding onto her granddaughter's shoulder reassuringly “I'm sure they're just getting it out of their system.”
Nova's response was a deadpanned stare.
“Besides” Angie added in helpfully “we're not trying to rush you, we're in no hurry to be great grandparents.”
Nova eyerolled as Moon and Angie shared a high five with Star, the trio of women smiling bright at the expense of the youngest female Butterfly.
Connor came out of the bathroom, freshly changed and facing the entire Diaz-Butterfly clan though he had expected that.
“hi everyone” Connor greeted
Various types of greetings were returned as Connor made his way to his seat.
“I say Connor” River called out to the approaching inventor “Why haven't you found a girlfriend?”
Nova facepalmed herself, hand completely covering her eyes in embarrassment.
“Well....” Connor shifted awkwardly under the family's gaze “I'm pretty busy right now. Between inventing, school and keeping your granddaughter out of trouble, I don't know if I have time for the girlfriend. Plus I always smell like sweat and oil...”
“No you don't” Nova muttered lightly under her breath
“I don't think any girl wants to deal with that....”
River narrowed his eyes “You'd be surprised my dear boy.”
Connor chuckled anxiously, sitting next to Nova with a questioning stare.
Nova shrugged as the living room lights dimmed, Star twirling her wand with reckless abandon.
“WAAAAIT!” Sol cried out, lunging into Connor and Nova's lap.
“SOL!” Nova snarled but Sol was already curling in between the best friends, sending his older sister a playful smirk.
Nova sighed in content as the title sequence played, leaning against Connor's shoulder in the near darkness of the room
Everyone noticed.
