Unsolicited writing advice???
A ton of you have commented with such kind and complimentary words about my Naruto fic Hiding in the Leaves and its characterization through the shifting POVs. Thank you all! I’m gratified to hear that you’re enjoying it. Some are asking how I shift perspectives and still manage to keep the characters in line. Actually, a fair number of readers have asked for actual advice, so here we go. This is a lot of writing babble, I hope it makes sense but feel free to drop me an ask if anything is unclear!
(1) I read a lot. I read all the time. Easily a book a day, maybe two days. And when I do, I practice critical reading—or as they say, reading like an editor, so I can pick at techniques other writers use. Writing is an art you learn largely by example. A lot of what I read influences what and how I write, so when I need to change my tone or voice to fit a different character, I usually read something that matches what I want my prose to sound like, on top of using techniques like changing tenses and playing with vocabulary choices.
I recently had the chance to flex these writing muscles because I went from writing two very distinct human voices (Tony Stark & Stephen Strange) to writing an alien voice (Loki). It was fucking hard; those in the Marvel fandom might know what I mean. Tony and Stephen are both human, born and raised in America, with specific life experiences that inform their daily decisions and personalities. Loki, on the other hand, is an alien: raised in Asgard, stolen from Jotunheim, well-traveled throughout the Nine Realms, and moreover raised as a prince. Just stop and think about that. When your characters do not have the same experiences that you do, they’re bound to not have the same earthbound concerns that you do. Anthropomorphizing non-human (or even non-living) beings is an age-old practice, but to be faithful to his character, I tried my best to twist my writing voice into a different shape—a shape that more befits the prince of a realm that is somewhat humanoid but very different from what we know on Earth. And in order to do that, I did four things:
I changed my prose from past to present tense; it sounds more immediate and assertive
I read three books, written in present tense, where the prose mimics what I imagine Loki would sound like in his own head
I made a huge spread of everything about Loki (both canon and my own orginal additions) that would inform his motivations, internal concerns, emotional responses, and decision-making processes
I drowned myself in Loki fanwork
Immersion is key! If you saturate your brain in a specific type of rhetoric or style, that’s what’s likeliest to come out of your productive process at the end. So controlling what you read/watch/listen to will help control your writing style too.
 (2) This further breaks down what I just said in the third bullet point above. Before I start writing from a specific character’s perspective, I’ll take the time to brainstorm and build that character from the ground up. This might take a day or two and includes a staggering amount of detail—just as much detail as mine or your life might comprise. Silly little things like favorite colors and foods, hobbies, dislikes. Oftentimes, if you’re a fic writer, this is easier because canon gives it to you. Those amazing wiki-pages exist to make your life easier in this regard. (Bless.) What canon doesn’t give you is where you can dig in. Go deeper. Pin your character down. Think about more serious considerations like emotional triggers, conscious motivations, subconscious motivations, coping and defense mechanisms. When hurt or under stress, are they the type to lash out or curl in? Are they the type to hold on to a grudge, or do they prefer to forgive and forget? Do they get hurt easily or do they have a thick skin? I imagine the character’s relationships in life, I rank them and network them in my head. Who do they run to when they need advice? Who do they like hanging out with when they’re happy? Who annoys them, who inspires them, who scares them, who do they want to be like? Even if these questions aren’t necessarily things you might discuss in your fic, it helps inform this person you’re writing about, so it helps you keep a clearer and more consistent mental picture of them as you go.
But most critical of all, I sit and imagine myself in their shoes and think of how they perceive themselves. That is a major factor when writing, because that’s what their head-voice will sound like. And if the story is written from their perspective, then that means you, writer, are writing in that head-voice!
Here’s a more HITL-specific example (I’ll try not to spoil too much lol):
Sasuke
How he sees himself:
Ordinary; not very impressive as a shinobi, but not absolutely terrible either – just ordinary
Average looking
A slow, impatient learner
Awkward with people, but polite and with good intentions
Emotionally stable
A good reader and listener
How he actually is from someone else’s POV:
Incredibly skilled for his age and level as a shinobi
Actually quite handsome
An intuitive learner, very tenacious and will keep at a task forever until he gets it just right; perfectionist much
Quiet, polite, notices a lot about how others act
Absolutely does not handle emotions well
Selective listener; sometimes only hears what he wants to hear
Rationales:
He’s surrounded by a clan of perfectionists and overachievers who constantly laud his aniki for being a genius while paying him no attention. Of course he thinks he’s ordinary.
No one ever compliments him for his looks in the clan compound, and what he sees in the mirror looks just like a younger version of everyone around him. Of course he thinks he’s average, even though he actually has looks.
Because he’s largely self-taught (except for when Obaa-sama teaches him), he thinks he’s slow. (Ever learned a new skill or maybe even a new language by yourself? I have. I can tell you that my perception of how much time I spent learning ‘basics’ was skewed.) He also holds himself to a higher than normal standard because that’s what gets him positive attention (or attention at all) within his family. Add the fact that Itachi was there blazing through everything before him, and it’s suddenly easy to understand why Sasuke thinks the worst of himself as a student. But he (and Naruto) are actually fast learners—we see this even in canon—and both of them boast high levels of natural intuition, or as I (the neuroscientist) likes to call it, pattern recognition. Some people are naturally better at this than others; there have been extensive tests done to show it. But we also know intuition can be trained, so the more Sasuke works at something, the better he gets, and the faster he learns the next skill—as long as the learning is patterned. Which is why Orochimaru, who has picked up on this trait, walks them through learning each jutsu in a stepwise manner every time.
Sasuke doesn’t have a lot of social interaction outside of his family. The Uchiha clan in this fic is very segregated from the rest of the village, so if you’re not active as a shinobi, you probably don’t get out of the compound much. Interacting with people probably intimidates Sasuke a lot so he feels awkward about it and reverts back to habits of politeness and silence that he was taught from childhood. That doesn’t mean that he’s not paying attention, however; Sasuke is naturally observant and remembers a lot about how people act (and not so much what they say). I have a theory about this related to the Sharingan but I won’t go into too much here because it would be a straight-up spoiler, sorry. :D
He thinks he’s emotionally stable because he doesn’t remember many incidents of severe emotional upheaval in his life. That’s because he hasn’t had them; apart from the whole thing with Itachi, he’s been fairly sheltered his whole life. But he actually doesn’t handle emotions well—something he’s about to find out soon enough—and for the same reason! He hasn’t been exposed to an extensive range of it.
Because he’s largely self-taught, he has confidence in his reading skills. He also remembers all of Obaa-sama’s stories so he thinks he’s a good listener. Well, he is—to an extent. If he wants to listen, he will. If he doesn’t, he’s just as proficient as Naruto at pigheadedness. (I think it’s an Uchiha trait too lmao.)
That was a lot, right? But you can see that if I’m writing from Sasuke’s POV, I have to keep a different set of pointers than if I’m writing from Naruto’s POV about Sasuke. The way I think of it is like changing lenses or shades depending on the light outside.
A few more techniques/guidelines I use:
Stay consistent with vocabulary. Orochimaru is far more verbose than the rest of them, Shikamaru right behind him, and Naruto uses shorter, simpler words. You can even assign particular words to a character, a word only they would use when referring to something. This applies to how your character addresses other people too, i.e. Orochimaru calls them ‘little ones’; Shikamaru calls his dad ‘oyaji’ in front of his peers but ‘otou-san’ in front of his sensei; Naruto is quick to give people nicknames and most of the time it sticks.
Watch the adjectives; different people describe things differently. Orochimaru uses more nuanced words that can mean different things depending on the situation and mood; Naruto thinks in terms of emotions, a lot of how does this make me feel; Sasuke is very visual and notices a lot of colors.
Use speech habits wisely; how your character talks should reflect their life. Just like accents, speech habits can tell a lot about a person. Sasuke always speaks politely because it’s how he’s supposed to talk at home, otherwise there’d be trouble. Naruto grew up in a poorer district and had no one to really teach him how to talk politely, so he’s very casual. Shikamaru cusses at age eleven because his parents and family are incredibly laissez-faire and honest around him, so he thinks it’s acceptable and normal (and he was never reprimanded for it).
Play with your tenses. Writing in past tense sounds and feels very different from writing in present tense. Depending on your character, one or the other might sound more appropriate. There are some expressions and figures of speech that sound fine when written in past tense but awkward when written in present tense, so that will end up inadvertently changing your prose a bit, which can be useful.
Read your work out loud. Cardinal rule of prose-writing. What looks good on paper doesn’t always sound good when read out loud. If you read it and it doesn’t sound like how your character talks, time for a vibe check. You might need to change a few words and move sentences around, or you might need a complete overhaul… an editor (and I mean an editor, not just a beta-reader) can usually help you out.
A note about editors vs beta-readers:
There is a cardinal difference! A beta-reader is usually not professionally trained but should be experienced enough to point out things that aren’t right. In fandom, I’ve found that beta-readers mostly focus on a story’s general feel, flow and readability, sometimes character consistency, sometimes they point out typos and mistakes. An editor goes further than that. I’m fortunate to have Tria (aventria) who has edited my work for, gosh, 14 years now, fuck, we’re old! I call her my editor because when she goes through a piece, she will fix everything and make my draft bleed and I love it. (I actually get a little upset when she doesn’t fix anything, even if that means everything was good.) As an editor, she does a vibe check and looks for typos/errors, yes, but she also critiques the prose extensively. She can rearrange phrases or entire paragraphs for better flow. She will cut out entire scenes or make me rewrite them if they’re that bad. Like a copy editor, she looks at stylistic inconsistencies, grammar errors, and iffy word use. She’ll usually suggest or replace the offending word altogether. She has a lot of freedom with the work and can actually kick a piece to the curb if it’s really that shitty. She also questions plot progression, character development, and the relevance of a scene. (She’s made me cut out many, many scenes.) – That all being said, it’s not easy finding an editor, much less a good one. It also has to be someone you trust to have this much power over your work. It’s worth it, however, and my writing has gotten so much better because of the help.
If you’ve read this far, wow, thanks! You’re also probably thinking, “Shit, she takes this too seriously. It’s just a fic.”
I have… gotten into fights in the past before because of this. I feel strongly about the stuff I write. Just because it’s fanfiction doesn’t mean it isn’t a labor of love. I’m a perfectionist by nature, so that’s why I put so much time and effort into what amounts to ‘just a fic.’ And you know what? At the end of the day, writing it gives me satisfaction and happiness, so I will keep pouring into it as much as I can. It’s just a bonus to hear that other people are enjoying it too. (Yes, I’m one of those weirdos who intensely enjoy reading my own work…)
 Aaand the final point:
(3) I double-majored in psychology for undergrad and have by now accumulated thousands of hours of clinical hours spent using the theories and techniques I learned from those classes on real people. I’m also specializing in neuroscience, so a portion of my time is spent in psychiatry. Characterization was actually not one of my writing strengths at first, but I definitely noticed leaps in improvement after my clinical rotation started. People skills are just that: skills which are honed with practice. It’s amazing how much you learn about how people think and what make them tick when you interact with a whole spectrum of examples: from your neurotypical everyday well-adjusted person, to high-functioning neurotics and obsessives, to patients who have suffered complex stroke syndromes, to encephalitic brains burning under septic fevers, to druggies stoned so high they’ve breached the atmosphere, to patients whose brains are growing insidious tumors, to schizophrenics and catatonics and the depressed. My job also allows me the rare opportunity to interact with people from all walks of life. All I need to do if I wanted insight about how life is for soldiers who served in an active warzone, for example, is to hit up Bill at the ICU and ask for stories about Korea and the Gulf and Vietnam. Or if I wanted to know about how to survive the Rwandan genocide, I could sit down with Amida, who survived it as a barely-teenager with her brother and sister in tow while only “losing my innocence and an eye.” Or I could talk to Heather, who is building a life with her husband and two rambunctious children, for a perspective on the daily concerns and delights of a ‘perfectly normal and ordinary’ working mother. (Her words, not mine; Heather is amazing even if she eats the doctor’s lounge out of Tita Annabel’s cookies.) Anyway, you get my point. When I write, I almost always write about people, so it makes sense that a lot of my inspiration comes from people too. A lot of my original characters—and even some that are not—often speak with the voices and inflections of people I know in real life. You probably have people with interesting stories to tell in your life; you just have to work up the courage to ask and take the time to listen. You’d be surprised at what you learn!
A few helpful writing resources: (most of these are classics)
The Elements of Style by Strunk & White
The First Five Pages by Noah Lukeman
How to Read a Book by Mortimer Adler and Charles van Doren
And more books that helped me get into people’s heads:
Hallucinations by Dr. Oliver Sacks
The Noonday Demon by Andrew Solomon
Far From the Tree by Andrew Solomon
The Lucifer Effect by Philip Zimbardo
Admirable Evasions by Theodore Dalrymple
I hope you got something out of that. Again, feel free to drop me an ask if you have any questions or want to chat!

TWST Boys and MBTI HCs Part 1: Heartslabyul
Tumblr media
Hey there! First time trying writing this headcanon stuff series. Differing opinions and discussions are welcome since this is only a HC (nice words though, I don’t condone senseless bashing here), and if there is someone already posted MBTI, just think of this as my hot take on the stuff.
While MBTI’s reliability is debatable when used in real world context, I find it a really interesting and neat way to navigate character traits and personalities in fiction. Thus, while I procrastinate on WIP fics and undergrad thesis try to flex my writing muscles, this immediately came to my mind. And here we are.
No need for permission and disclaimer to use this HC in your fan works whatsoever. However, if you happened to enjoy this do consider to leave a trace behind :3
In this HC series, I’m going to use the Introduction, Strength, And Weakness section of the personality overview for the sake of brevity and not use a few points that I deemed inapplicable (and even then I think it’s already quite long).
Mostly canon-compliant, aside from some of my personal interpretations here and there (expect personal story and main story references up to chapter 3).
For those interested in an overview of MBTI, check this link: https://www.16personalities.com/articles/our-theory. You can also check each personality type overview on the same website if you’re curious.
Since this is going to be quite long, if you’re interested, click below:
Riddle Rosehearts-ENTJ (Commander)
Tumblr media
Out of all Heartslabyul boys, this one gave me quite some difficulty hence the long introductory part . First, regarding the Extrovert vs. Introvert debate, while on the surface Riddle is not as flashy or outgoing as the traditional portrayal of Extrovert, I think that his goal to direct Heartslabyul and all of its residents to achieve his ideal level of excellence shows enough of his outward-focused thinking.
Second, it also took me a while since his rule-abiding trait is also prevalent in a number of Sentinels personality type group. However, he also shows a lot of curiosity and very eager to learn new things just for the sake of understanding how the world works, a trait especially prevalent in Analyst personality type group in which ENTJ is a part of.
Strengths
Efficient – Unless explicitly demanded by the rules, his first concern is how to make things work, with little to no care about any kind of flairs that have no correlation on efficiency.
Energetic – Always puts 100% energy into his works, be it individual or group activities. Cue the other more relaxed people struggling to follow...
Self-Confident – Deliberately not checking on his test results because he already knew that it would be perfect score? That’s some level of confidence he has over there. Also, consider his SR Robe story where his confidence in his own skills immediately convinced Sebek to register into horse riding club despite his initial dismay because of Silver’s presence in the club.
Strong-Willed – Disagreed with how the previous dorm head managed the dorm? Duel him and take charge of the dorm just after your first week in school, of course. Really, the iron will this boy has is no joke...
Strategic Thinker – Less apparent than say, Azul, but I do believe he does have this trait. One of the most apparent example of this trait is the way he tackles his studies. Not only he makes notes from class lecture, he also thinks ahead and prepare material from outside sources that no one else bothered to look up for such as the latest scientific journal articles (Riddle school uniform R).
Charismatic and Inspiring –  When he let himself forget about those pesky rules, he actually has this... thing that kinda spurs people to become the best version of themselves; an inspiration, I daresay. This is especially apparent in his interactions with individual members of Dumbass Squad so far, that either portrayed him as an overall competent and admirable senpai that you can look up to (Jack robe SR, Deuce dorm SSR).
Weaknesses
Stubborn and Dominant – Goes hand-in-hand with his general strongheaded character. One interesting example of this trait is his conversation with Azul in prologue’s first rythmic game, in which he outright demanded Azul to follow his lead and adjust to his pace in capturing Grim. Very telling since technically Azul is supposedly someone with the same standing as a fellow dorm head that you can’t just order around...
Intolerant – Has an extremely poor tolerance for error in other people. Self-explanatory, really, goes hand-in-hand with rule-abiding tendencies.
Impatient – When the underclassmen didn’t bring the tarts for Unbirthday Party fast enough, he was already so close to exploding, only managed to narrowly avoiding it thanks to Trey’s intervention (Trey dorm SSR).
Arrogant – Nurtured to the extreme by his own mother to believe in the innate superiority of people with high magical power. He ended up adopting the ‘might equals right’ mindset to the extreme, believing that he had proven himself as the most competent person in Heartslabyul on the basis of his. Remember that time in chapter 1 when took a jab at Ace and Deuce’s presumed less-than-ideal parentage and basically went ‘lower magical power = no rights for you’...
Poor Handling of Emotions – Guy overblotted because he couldn’t identify his neglected emotional need of companionship, and subconsciously tried to cope by enforcing his ideals towards others...
Cold and Ruthless –  The number of people he had ‘beheaded’ for the slightest rule violations speaks for themselves for this behavior, honestly...
Trey Clover-ESFJ (Consul)
Tumblr media
An expected result for Heartslabyul’s resident Team Mom. An S-ranking team player that everyone relies on, I think that it’s kind of no-brainer to put him in this category. While the prevalence of his people skill is usually a specialty of Diplomat personality type group, his inclination to value stability above all else puts him firmly in this Sentinel personality type.
Strengths
Strong Practical Skills – Day-to-day dorm management, cooking, dealing with students’ concerns and worries, just all around being a dependable senpai... this guy’s got you covered. We can certainly thank Riddle’s demon temper and borderline impossible standard leadership and his kouhai’s stupidity cluelessness for letting us see this trait appear from time to time...
Strong Sense of Duty – “Knight of the Rose” is no joke indeed: in spite of all the sh*t he has to deal with on daily basis, we seldom hear him to voice even a word of complaint , be it in serious or joking context (for good comparison check on how Cater handles it). A true ‘grit your teeth and bear with it’ guy.
Very Loyal – While this is self-explanatory when it comes to Cater as his fellow long-time suffering underling, he arguably also shows this to Riddle (or maybe more accurate to say, to the ‘Riddle’ of his past memories)... while he low key took a jab at Riddle’s temper in his lab coat SR story, he never really plots something against him, for better or worse unlike that certain snake vice dorm head.
Sensitive and Warm – As everyone’s fave senpai this is a given. This particular trait of his really is a refuge for Heartslabyul students from their demon strict dorm head...
Good at Connecting with Others – Connected to above point. Really good at empathizing with most people’s pain, making him indispensable as buffer to Riddle’s crippling weakness in this aspect.
Weaknesses
Worried about Their Social Status – Arguably, this is one of the main reasons why he never bothered to do anything in regards to mama Rosehearts’ helicopter parenting that caused Riddle so much suffering. Like it or not, she is an influential citizen in his homeland, and maybe after witnessing her unleashed rage at his family, he was not very keen on trying anything risky...
Inflexible – Very, very reluctant to oppose Riddle in chapter 1, despite the clear evidence that his non-action did more harm than good. he tried to convince himself and others that any kind of resistance would be futile.
Reluctant to Innovate or Improvise – While he’s indispensable for the task of keeping day-to-day operation proceeding smoothly, he also has the tendency to keep doing things the same way, for a very long time. This is apparent in his dorm SSR story, where he was not really welcoming to the underclassmen’s suggestion to change their Unbirthday Party’s cake type.
Vulnerable to Criticism – A bit of a hot take, I HC that after mama Rosehearts chewed him and his family out for feeding poor Riddle strawberry tart, he developed a different take from Che’nya on what should he do as Riddle’s friend, and both of them failed to reconcile their views. The prospect of criticism was appalling enough to him that when Dumbass Squad brought up about Che’nya in chapter 1 he got his rare sour face...
Too Selfless – As pictured above in his own robe SR personal story, he tends to take on so many responsibilities from other people and ended up forgetting his own physical and psychological limits. Another prominent example of this trait is his behavior in Riddle’s lab coat SR, in which he was downplaying his light cold and ended up bedridden because he refused to delegate his responsibilities to take more rest.
Cater Diamond-ESFP (Entertainer)
Tumblr media
For me, this one needed quite a bit of contemplating, for two reasons: 1) I’m personally not really focused on him; 2) There’s so little info on him (perhaps this is a sign for something big, perhaps not, only time can tell). Like Trey, I initially also wanted to categorize Cater into a personality type in Diplomat group due to his prominent people skill. However, after reading more into the personalities in Explorer group, I found out that he lacks the usual idealism that embodies personality types from that particular group.
Strengths
Bold – Rarely holds back when it comes to experiencing pleasures of life when the opportunity presents itself. Just look at Idia’s uniform R personal story, in which he decided on a whim to whisk off to Kalim’s banquet without so much of a thought, and even forcibly brought a very reluctant Idia along because it would be more fun that way.
Aesthetics and Showmanship – This is very clear from his day-to-day mannerism, that tends to give off the ‘bubbly and trendy’ feel: his default cheerful and open gestures and words, his everyday up-to-date fashion items, you name it. Flat is most probably one of the furthest thing you would associate with this SNS-loving guy.
Practical – So far, he seems like the type of guy that doesn’t really adhere to a big, overarching ideology that underlies his every actions; he is, after all, the best when doing whatever suits his convenience at that exact moment as demonstrated in his own dorm SSR personal story. A good way to understand this trait of his is to compare him to the more idealistic characters like Riddle, that will most certainly hold onto his personal convictions even when it’s not beneficial.
Observant – Really sharp when it comes to identifying what people really want from him and then acts accordingly, as noticed by Trey multiple times (chapter 1, Cater dorm SSR).
Excellent People Skills – Plays the role of resident social butterfly really well... not much to explain here, really...
Weaknesses
Sensitive – Despite his best efforts to gives off the impression that nothing can really hurt his feeling, both his robe and lab coat SR showed us that he does feel things, and they greatly affect his psychological state (sad mandrake, I’m looking at you).
Conflict-Averse – Desperately tried to persuade Dumbass Squad to not butt heads with Riddle in chapter 1. Also has the tendency to bury his negative feelings behind his smiles and cheery attitude.
Easily Bored – Hops in and out of trends constantly, not much to explain here really... he vibes really well with trend-based Magicam for a reason after all...
Poor Long-Term Planners – Admitted to Riddle and Trey that while he is an excellent multi-tasker, he severely lacks the ability to plan and strategize for long-term goal (Riddle dorm SSR).
Unfocused – Strongly related to above point, he also has a considerable difficulty to tackle subjects that need long-term, regimented effort to master such as Practical Magic (Riddle dorm SSR).
Ace Trappola-ENTP (Debater)
Tumblr media
Arguably the first non-Ramshackle member of Dumbass Squad, this boy, indeed, lives and breathes the phrase “Bold and Brash” in his every single endeavors in life. Unlike the other boys in this post, deciding on which personality type most suited for him was so damn easy that I felt a bit insulted (heck, even easier than Trey): his cheekiness and motor mouth were quite were like highlights that pointed out to this personality type’s direction. And, ho boy, the second I read ENTP’s overview, I instantly knew that I already hit the mark this time...
Strengths
Knowledgeable – Not of the useful, practical kind of knowledge, but he does have a fondness to learn various amusing little tricks for the fun of it and for bragging material.
Quick Thinker – This boy seriously has a talent to bullshit his way out of trouble in the last second... This trait is basically the entire plot of his SSR dorm story, in which he showcased his ability to use half-lies and misdirection to avoid disadvantaging himself in unforeseeable situations...
Original – This trait is basically his whole stand off with Riddle in chapter 1. Not only using his own very personal opinion, he also linked it to other Heartslabyul students’ various expressions of discontent and made the initially generic and powerless words into a very distinct, powerful argument that basically screamed ‘you and your rules suck’ to Riddle. Add in a very ingenious touch of physical punch to the face that nobody else dared to try, which made the message even more powerful.
Excellent Brainstormer – Considering his extraordinary bullshitting skill, he must be quite sharp in this department... Also, there’s also the fact that the subject that he performs best at is Magic Analysis...
Charismatic – Only shown subtly so far, but combined with his bullshitting skill he does show a knack to influence people’s opinion from time to time. One example is shown when he influenced Heartslabyul students to demand Trey to make different cakes for their Unbirthday Party (Trey dorm SSR).
Energetic – A given trait when you’re a member of the Dumbass Squad, with how much shenanigans that you’re going to face...
Weaknesses
Very Argumentative – Has the tendency to pick a fight with people, arguably just for kicks. One of the example of this trait is his admission of having the thrill out of the possibility getting your neck ‘cut’ constantly as one of the reason that he finds the thought of changing dorm is unthinkable (Ace dorm SSR voice line).
Insensitive – Lacks the ability to read the atmosphere, or possibly just straight out ignoring it. Cue frequent troubles with Deuce and Riddle...
Intolerant – Has shown quite a bit of pre-concieved prejudices to something he’s not familiar with. Combined with his lack of delicacy, this could turn nasty very fast, just look back at his first meeting with magicless MC and monster Grim...
Can Find It Difficult to Focus – This trait is the main culprit for his bad affinity with traditional text-based learning methods and subjects that make use of said methods, such as Magic History.
Dislike Practical Matters – His general dismay to even try memorizing and implementing written, word-by-word rules that Riddle force feeds to Heartslabyul people everyday is rooted on how boring they are. He fully understands why rules are important, but chooses not to obey it because the prospect of just obeying is not very thrilling to him...
Deuce Spade-ISFJ (Defender)
Tumblr media
And, last but not least, here comes our egg boy! This Dumbass #2 of Heartslabyul is one of the more difficult one to assign, and my decision to put him in this personality type didn’t really come that easy. While reading through Defender’s personality overview, at first I thought that “Whoa, maybe this one is too soft for this ex-yankee...” and I had intended to put him into something from the Explorer group due to his dumbass shenanigans general spontaneity, but hey, actually, this boy is soft.
When I factor in the fact that NRC is basically a school that consists of talented but egoistical problem kids, this boy quite distinguishes himself with his fierce loyalty to his loved ones and the general earnest vibe that he exudes, that really vibe with this personality type. Also, something about Introvert vs. Extrovert debate, I HC Deuce as more of an introvert because, while outwardly he is no less rowdy than Ace being a pair of dumbasses that they are, he is way more inward-focused in his way of thinking, focusing on his few beloved ones instead of the larger populace.
Strengths
Supportive – A great deal more honest and sincere than Ace in his approach of friendship, think of him as that openly supportive friend that doesn’t hide how he values his friends and always tries his best to support them in any way he can.
Reliable and Patient – In line with point above, he’s that type of friend that you can safely depend on, the type that would always be there when you need him.
Imaginative and Observant – Despite appearances, Deuce is actually quite adept at empathy (especially when compared to his fellow Heartslabyul dumbass Ace), being able to sympathize with people’s feeling. One of the best example of this is Deuce’s response to Azul’s insecurity in chapter 3, in which Deuce pretended that he never saw the childhood photo that Azul was so adamant on hiding because of his inferiority issues.
Enthusiastic – He’s really passionate about the things that he has set on to do; you can practically feel it in most of his dialogue lines...
Loyal and Hard-Working – He’s willing to bend back-and-forth for the sake of his loved ones. Hell, the main reason that he tries his hardest to become a great magician in the future is so that he can make his mother happy...
Good Practical Skills – This is moving more to the headcanon side, but I think as an only child that lives only with his mother he ended up developing this trait, whether he likes it or not...
Weaknesses
Humble and Shy – Might be the influence of his yankee past, he’s rather low key when it comes to his personal achievements. Compare that to Ace’s constant bragging...
Take Things Too Personally – Self-explanatory, when you look at his hands-on approach on things... one of the example of this trait is his robe SR story (pictured above), in which he was about to physically fight a student that underplayed his achievement as a first year.
Overload Themselves – ‘Chill’ is not really the word that could be attributed to this boy, he takes everything he does too seriously. Although right now the effects are not really apparent, but it does make me wonder whether this will pose a problem later on...
Reluctant to Change – Very visible when compared side-by-side to the more mercurial fellow dumbass Ace, overall Deuce has more respect to the existing order in his environment, and he also shows more respect towards authority figures. I HC that this trait is what makes him tried to restrain Ace from punching Riddle in their chapter 1 showdown.

Tbh being an adult with responsibilities is like, the worst thing ever™ and it's only so dreaded because of society's shift to Capitalism looming over every aspect of our daily lives, causing unprecedented levels of depression and anxiety even in children, with no guarantee of job security even with diplomas or degrees where it's just luck or ingrained privileges that boost you up the corporate ladder, And it's almost impossible to accomplish the simplest of goals like owning a home or going to college in our horribly inflated economy that people can't see a future, especially the neurodivergent or mentally ill as Capitalism devalues their livelihoods with structures rigged against them, giving up on the things they love settling into careers they hate to make ends meet and have no sense of direction, Disturbingly making people feel like wastes and burdens with low esteem when they can't contribute to this broken ass system or get anything out of it that tells them their suffering is their fault, like abandoned worshippers who's god made empty promises not rewarded by faith, where it somehow makes sense to discard millions of dollars worth of perfectly good produce because it doesn't "look" a certain way instead of giving it to those in need Where human interaction has become so segregated by a money barrier that libraries are some of the only places left that appreciates us more than our wallets, leading to social isolation and a generation with a growing lack of people skills that get judged for finding ways to cope and adapt via the internet etc while those responsible hardly address the underlying issues Essentially shackling us to the workforce as wage slaves, packing in 50+ hours a week for the rest of our menial existences knowing half of the things you want to do will never be accessible in your lifetime due to not having the money, barely affording small luxuries to comfort ourselves and feel okay about it all, while people are starving or homeless or have an addiction but the medicare and insurance policies are trash And even then, the medical field and other fields are full or classism and other harmful -isms that can make them unsafe for the people, driving people to riot, protest, turn to violence, illegal activity, or sex work and form various movements and countercultures in a desperate attempt to change things for the better and align to a cause to find some meaning while institutions flex their authority to penalize and brutalize us Cementing us further into nihilism where nothing you do as a consumer or otherwise matters as 1% controls all the world's wealth, and 3 companies own all the brands, when it used to mean the freedom to make your own choices but be responsible for said choices and actually experience doing things and enjoying life to the fullest of your abilities as an independent. It's simply not sustainable and people aren't reaching their potential in a system that holds us back with this pay-to-play gatekeeping. Imagine how many more scientists, engineers, and great minds there would be but are stuck in poverty. It's not nearly as fair as most would like to believe. Am I saying everything should be free? No. But there HAS to be a better solution than this js. We are at the height of Capitalism. It's peaked and become inefficient and unbeneficial. Now, we need progress.

The Growth of Remote Working in a Digital World
The concept of telecommuting has evolved into a popular and more common remote working lifestyle that presents a wide variety of options for professionals interested in making a living on-the-go, or from the comfort of their homes.
Technology has empowered our ability to communicate and contribute from far away locations with a high degree of success and the number of professionals interested in taking advantage of remote work is growing.
Thanks to the internet, we now live in a world where instant communication and connectivity making the opportunity to contribute remotely very accessible and as more businesses recognize the demand for remote working options, more of them are offering at least partial remote working days as a company perk.
Anyone with a desire to create a remote working lifestyle has plenty of opportunities to do so, and businesses can enable their success if they’re willing to take advantage of certain digital tools that empower remote lifestyles.
Mutual Benefits for Both Employers and Employees
Businesses should always be looking for impactful ways to save time and money while boosting worker productivity and morale, and remote working seems to address these concerns all at once.
One of the key benefits of remote working options is that both businesses and employees can save time and common expenses. With the ability to work from wherever you are and on your own schedule, expenses such as childcare and transportation can be reduced, and businesses can save massive amounts of money on company overhead.
Another potential benefit for businesses able to offer remote work to their employees is improved employee retention since remote working possibilities have become a desirable and more common perk. There are a number of reasons that people enjoy and appreciate remote work and close to 90 percent of employees report a desire to work partly from home.
One of the biggest reasons that employees are drawn to remote work is the ability to travel and have a variety of cultural experiences while still experiencing the benefits of pursuing a full-time career.
Remote work can be especially appealing for individuals who may experience ongoing or intermittent medical issues. Remote work allows them to conveniently schedule doctor’s appointments and to manage their disability or illness from the solace of their own home.
While working remotely is appealing for a number of practical and personal reasons, one of the biggest factors businesses should consider is the type of message they’re sending to their employees by allowing them to work from a place of their choosing.
Allowing remote work as an employee perk can communicate to your organization that you trust them and that you believe they deserve to have a happy and healthy work-life balance. It can also convey that you want them to be able to pursue the hobbies and aspirations they are passionate about outside of work and that they are skilled, competent and independent enough that they do not need to be micromanaged.
Allowing remote work can be a powerful way for businesses to show that they truly value their employees and believe in the people that they hire.
Big companies are taking steps to incorporate flexible time off and remote work as a part of their employee retention initiatives including Netflix who instituted a “flex time off” program. This type of attitude regarding remote work can do wonders for company culture and create a positive impact that both businesses and employees will appreciate which is why more businesses are likely to incorporate this kind of perk into their policies in the future.
The complete impact of remote work on company culture is still yet to be explored completely, but the benefits for companies and employees seems to reach far beyond what most people expect to come from the simple choice of allowing your employees to change their working locations at will.
Cloud Sharing and Online Communication
Access to collaborative projects is part of what makes so many remote working opportunities possible. Through organizational tools such as Asana and Wrike, teams of specialists can contribute to ongoing projects and manage their progress without having to be in the same place.
Cloud storage programs such as Google Drive and Dropbox allow for instant sharing and updated work, appropriately lending themselves to remote teams that are working on different schedules. Because these tools provide remote professionals with effective ways to edit and share projects instantaneously, there’s much less of a need for teams to meet in person to transition paperwork. Now teams and their clients can stay in the loop regarding ongoing projects without worrying about access.
There are also plenty of online communication tools that make remote working more possible since teams can host all of their communication in one place as well as send important information instantly.
Now remote team members and freelancers can communicate with their teams and clients through remote conferencing and even use screen-sharing programs like Team Viewer and Google Hangouts to walk through processes step-by-step. These tools can play an important role in mitigating the lack of interaction and potential isolation resulting from remote work and many companies are using video conferencing as a way of engaging remote employees in company events.
Whenever a business is considering implementing remote working options for their employees, it’s important that they adjust other company policies and communication methods so that both on-site and remote employees receive equal amounts of inclusion and consideration.
This way remote employees can make just as much of an impact on a business’s success, with opportunities to take on leadership roles despite having less actual face-time with management. As long as businesses take effective measures to involve their remote employees just as much as those in the office, they should be in a good position to recruit more effectively and retain the employees that they already have.
Finding Remote Work Online
Not only has the internet opened up countless possibilities in terms of ongoing projects, but those new to remote working can track down leads on new work and clients by taking advantage of freelancing websites such as SimplyHired and Freelancer.
These websites allow professionals to seek new work according to very particular requirements such as time frames, specialties, and desired pay—this allows remote workers to pick projects on their own terms and businesses can recruit outside talent effectively without having to pay the cost of hiring a new employee.
Many professionals working solely from their computers can also bring in a decent income working remotely whether working in web design, as a freelance reporter or analyzing company data. Data scientists earn a median salary of $112,000 and opportunities for web development, which can be done almost completely from remote locations, are growing as more businesses seek to connect with their target customers through web and mobile.
While remote work can put professionals in a somewhat isolated position, there are still plenty of ways for remote workers to network and connect with new groups. Aside from creating a new profile for a freelancing website that connects specialists with new projects, online social platforms such as Facebook and Linkedin provide easily accessible channels for professionals that are new to the job market with ways to connect and work together.
One of the most helpful aspects of Linkedin is that it connects users based on common industries, mutual contacts, and similar interests, so just because you may not be attending the same work functions or seeing the same faces in office doesn’t mean you don’t have a great chance to network and find new job opportunities.
Many remote professionals are creating their own websites to show off their work which makes sense for remote workers with a lot of content to display. This can be one of the most impactful ways to connect with leads, build your online business and support a lifestyle while you travel. Having a branded website can be an effective way to introduce customers to your work and exemplify your brand and your mission without having to attend meetings with potential clients or conduct phone calls. This can help prevent time wasted by working with an uninterested lead.
Remote workers can also take advantage of social media platforms as a way of marketing their services and connecting with potential clients. There are more ways than ever to market your business online and new generations actually prefer to get to know a business through online research before attending an in-person meeting. It’s extremely common for Millenials and members of Generation Z to search for businesses using their mobile phones or from their personal computers so professionals hoping to create a reliable remote lifestyle can save time by focusing on networking using these digital channels.
The Pros and Cons of Remote Work
The jury is still out on the effects of remote working on the workforce, but many businesses are seeing increased job satisfaction and a boost to employee morale as a result of having more remote working opportunities. Employees are also stating less daily stress associated with their roles because of their remote work.
The idea that remote workers are less efficient as they face more distractions is turning out to be somewhat of a misconception and businesses that were once wary of encouraging remote work based on the fear that employees would be distracted and a detriment to their current projects should be hopeful based on recent trends.
Some of the cons associated with remote working involve a lack of social interaction and isolation. Despite having multiple ways of communicating with their teams and clients, many employees still value the consistency and collaborative environment that working in an office presents, so the success of remote working opportunities will highly depend on your work style and personality. Added freedom and flexibility provides the opportunity for improved employee morale, but it’s important to note that some professionals might miss out on the collaborative nature of consistently working face-to-face with a team.
The more common work situation seems to be one that combines both remote working and regular scheduling with office hours. Employees that function better as part of a team working face-to-face might find their work relationships suffering if they’re spending more than half the week working remotely while working one to two days from remote locations doesn’t seem to pose the same negative impact on relationships.
Final Thoughts
If allowing your employees to work remotely seems like it is not a feasible option for your organization, don’t write the idea off too quickly. There are a variety of ways to build up to making your business more capable of managing remote work schedules.
One way to start exploring the idea of remote work is to incorporate a few work-from-home days into the work schedule. Start with testing anywhere from one to four working days a month and incorporate a tool that can help you run analytical data on your employees to test their productivity rates.
This will be a good opportunity for your employees to demonstrate their independence and will also help provide you with a better idea of whether or not providing employees with remote work perks is something that benefits the future of your organization.
If you are at a place where you are offering employees a combination of mixed office days and remote work days but you are hesitant to make the final leap, consider exploring your options with services like WeWork.
WeWork is a real estate company that rents out office spaces to businesses that do not have permanent offices. You can use a resource such as this to help you transition out of your office space and into a fully remote team. Explore your options before deciding to either jump headfirst into the transition or write it off completely.
Anyone hoping to develop a lifestyle that allows them to work from distant locations should have a pretty optimistic view of their professional future. With the growing number of online tools and work that can be done solely from a laptop, the number of remote working options should grow in coming years, and professionals interested in securing new projects and collaborating with teams from afar should be in a good position to do so as long as they’re familiar with the opportunities that currently exist thanks to a digital and connected world.

Attention, Teachers: Need Cash This Summer? Try One of These 26 Side Gigs
While many of us dream of having the summer months off, some teachers prefer to use their vacations to earn extra cash.
According to a Penny Hoarder analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data, the median salary for teachers (elementary, middle and secondary) is $51,000, and the starting salary comes in at $35,800. So it’s no surprise that one in 10 educators works a second job during the summer. Not only that, teachers are twice as likely to work a second job than people in any other occupation.
Working during the summer can help you keep your teaching skills sharp and can even help you learn a few new things — preferably with someone else footing the bill.
You’ll find no shortage of summer jobs for teachers or educators. Many of these opportunities will give you a modest income without a lengthy commitment. When the summer’s over, you can resume your day job without having to worry about quitting or keeping a second job.
Ready to find your new summer job?
Jobs That Will Keep You Teaching
For some teachers, summer is a time to get away from their regular day-to-day work. But for others, teaching is what gets them going in the morning. These jobs will bring in extra income while fulfilling that desire to keep teaching.
1. Teach English as a Second Language
Want to strengthen your teaching skills while earning extra money? Look for opportunities to tutor English as a second language (ESL) students locally and online.
You can contact large corporations in your area that may relocate foreign employees to your city and inquire whether they need a freelance ESL tutor to help their staff brush up on their language skills. Or go online and connect with students all over the world through sites like GoFluent and QKids.
One former public school teacher earned over $500 a week teaching English to Chinese students through VIPKID.
2. Offer Tutoring
School may be out for the summer for you, but that doesn’t mean students don’t still need a helping hand. If you just don’t get enough of teaching during the school year, tutor in your subject to make extra cash.
If you want to offer in-person tutoring, start by spreading the word with your students’ parents during the school year so they know who to call when summertime rolls around. And of course, shamelessly publicize your tutoring skills to friends and family who have children.
A great thing about tutoring is you can set your own rates, with tutors typically charging anywhere between $30 and $90 per hour, depending on the subject, according to Tutors.com.
And if you’d like to tutor without actually having to leave your house, consider online tutoring instead. There are a ton of websites that hire online tutors. Here are some of our favorite online tutoring companies.
3. Become a Test Prep Instructor
This is similar to tutoring, but with a little twist. As a test prep instructor, you can still flex those teaching skills but take a little break from teaching the same stuff you do during the regular school year.
Depending on your area of expertise and skill level, you can earn income over the summer helping students prepare for the ACT, SAT, LSAT, MCAT or GRE.
Again, you can simply spread the word through friends and family to tutor locally, which means you can set your own rates. Or you can turn to a national organization that is regularly hiring, such as Kaplan Test Prep, where tutors earn anywhere from $17 to $28 per hour, according to Glassdoor salaries.
4. Teach Abroad
Why limit your summer job search to the U.S.? You’ll find many great opportunities for teachers to work abroad during the summer months.
While paid short-term positions can be hard to come by, volunteer programs, especially those teaching English, are plentiful in certain regions of the world — plus, you’ll get to travel. Some programs will even pay for your expenses. Go Overseas lists a ton of volunteer teaching opportunities abroad.
5. Coach Youth Sports
Coaching youth sports during the summer is another opportunity that allows you to continue working with and instructing children — just in a different way from your regular job. Sure, it’s not teaching long division, but spending the summer imparting athletic and teamwork skills to children can be just as challenging and rewarding.
Plus, you get to watch kids run around playing sports, which is always adorable. A 6-year-old in an oversized, bobbling baseball helmet? Forget about it.
Check with your community recreation centers, churches and camps to find open jobs.
6. Work as a Nanny or Baby Sitter
Technically, this isn’t a teaching gig, but as a nanny or baby sitter you’ll still be working with children and informally teaching them along the way.
You can either find a regular full-time nanny job working for parents who prefer that to traditional day care or just pick up baby-sitting gigs here and there when you feel like making some extra cash.
Start by spreading the word through friends and family, and be sure to mention your teaching position so you have an edge over teenagers willing to do the job cheaply. You can also check out sites like Sittercity to find jobs in your community.
Online Summer Jobs for Teachers
Looking for a summer gig that earns you some extra cash — but doesn’t require leaving the house? We’ve got you covered.
7. Sell Your Lesson Plans Online
I love opportunities to leverage what you already have for passive income. You’ve already done the work. Why not make the most of it?
Take those lesson plans and worksheets you created during the school year and upload them to a site like Teachers Pay Teachers. You will earn 60% to 85% on each sale of your education resources. And this is an opportunity that can continue to bring in additional income year-round without any extra work.
“I only sell digital products, so I don’t have to mail anything,” Meredith O’Neill, a middle school teacher who sells her resources on the site, told us in May 2017. “The sale and the transfer of my work happens automatically. The payment goes straight to my PayPal account after TPT takes its cut. It’s extremely easy once your store is created and your work is loaded.”
8. Write and Edit Resumes
If you’ve got writing skills, you can earn extra cash writing and editing resumes. For some (read: a lot) of us, crafting a resume is like pulling teeth, and people are willing to fork out funds for a final product they feel will help them land a job.
This is a good summer job to pursue if you’re interested in part-time work that you can pick up on your own time.
Your personal network is a good place to start, and your teaching background will give you an edge. You can also list your services on freelance platforms such as Upwork, Thumbtack and Fiverr.
Fiverr user Charmaine Pocek started writing resumes and cover letters for $5 a piece. Within six years, she was charging $30 to $800 for her services and has since earned over $2 million through the site, according to Fiverr.
If you’re interested but need a little refresher on resume writing, check out this step-by-step guide.
9. Work as a Website Tester
You probably already spend a good amount of time browsing the internet and using phone apps, so why not get paid for it? Companies want to know how users interact with their websites and what can be done to make them more user-friendly.
All you have to do is browse and navigate websites and then provide honest feedback. You won’t get rich testing websites — expect to earn between $5 and $10 for each test.
UserTesting pays $10 for every 20 minute test; UserFeel pays $10 for every 10-20 minute test; and User Test pays around $10 per review.
10. Look Into Work-From-Home Jobs
You spend the school year commuting, so consider spending the summer earning extra income from the comfort of your own home. You’d be amazed how many companies regularly hire work-from-home employees, and with such a broad selection you can find an opportunity that fits your skill set.
Customer service, copy editing, travel consulting, coding, part-time, full-time, seasonal, freelance… honestly, the internet is your oyster. You can start with our Work-From-Home jobs portal to find a gig.
And if you’ve never forayed into the remote work life before, take some time to go over our work-from-home guide. It covers topics such as insurance, scams, taxes and how to find a job that fits your lifestyle.
Summer Jobs in the Great Outdoors
It’s summertime and you probably spend the rest of year cooped up in a classroom. Why not spend your months off in the great outdoors and earning extra cash at the same time?
11. Camp Counselor
If you love fresh air and sunshine, consider getting a job at a summer camp.
Writer Amanda Simkin spent three summers working at a summer camp during her eight years of teaching. “Working at a summer camp is a great supplemental job because sometimes you just want to get away from the classroom and interact with kids in a more fun-focused and laid-back way,” she explains.
Here’s how she recommends you find a job. “I learned about openings through word of mouth, but nowadays you can use social media, such as park district websites, Facebook, even Craigslist to find openings,” she says. You can also check with your local YMCA, community organizations and churches.
12. Local Tour Guide
Know all of the hot spots and hidden gems in your city or neighborhood? Then consider becoming a local tour guide. It’s a great way to enjoy the weather, the scenery and good company (hopefully) while earning extra cash.
Another neighborhood-based gig that’s similar to becoming a tour guide is Yelp’s community ambassador program. The company hires people in each city to host events, partner with local organizations and act as an online moderator. It’s a flexible gig, usually 15 to 20 hours per week.
13. Whitewater Raft Guide
This is the perfect job if you want to work in the great outdoors but you’re also looking for an adventure. But be warned: The job is intense and physically-demanding. It also requires long hours and certain qualifications, depending on your state.
Hiring for river guides really amps up around June and July, and recreational hiring in general grows an average of 68% in the U.S. around this time, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The river-rafting season typically runs from June to September, making this a perfectly complementary job for teachers looking to earn a summer income. In fact, Idaho river guide Hardy Bender says a lot of guides seek out teaching jobs purely so they can have the summers off to hit the river.
14. Lifeguard
Like river guiding, this summer job for teachers gives you the perks of getting paid to enjoy the water and sunshine but in a more controlled environment.
Summer is the busy season, so check with city-operated pools, recreation centers, water parks and country clubs for seasonal lifeguarding jobs. Or if you’re blessed enough to live on the water, you can spend the summer working on the beach.
The pay for lifeguards varies depending on your location, skill level and employer, but you can earn anywhere from $9 to $25 per hour, according to Glassdoor salaries. Just remember, there are certain certifications and training to complete before you can get that telltale red suit and whistle.
15. Dog Walker
Honestly, who doesn’t want to get paid to hang out with dogs in their spare time? Well, maybe cat people… but they don’t count.
Start by offering your services to friends and family who don’t have the summers off. They may jump at the chance for someone to take their beloved pups out for a walk on long work days.
You can also sign up for Rover.
The online network connects dog walkers and sitters to local dog owners through its 4.9-star-rated app, so you don’t have to staple flyers on every utility pole across town.
Rover says sitters can earn as much as $1,000 a month.
Rover dog-sitter requirements vary by location. In general, you must:
Be 18 years or older.
Pass a background check.
Have access to the Rover app (iOS or Android).
Here’s how it works: You’ll create an online sitter profile where you’ll answer questions about your experience with puppers and your schedule availability.
You can choose to offer a variety of services, including dog walking, overnight boarding at your home or theirs, and daycare. Boarding is the app’s most popular service, so offering it can get you more gigs. You set your own rates. (Rover keeps a small percentage as a service fee.)
Dog owners will reach out to you. Accept which gigs you want, then start snugglin’ pups. As soon as you complete a service, you’ll be paid within two days.
And if you don’t want to just stick to dog walking, you can expand your services and become a full-blown pet sitter — check this out for more information.
Jobs That Offer a Change of Pace
Maybe you want a summer job that breaks away from the standard tutoring gig. Here are some options all across the board, we’re sure at least one will catch your eye.
16. Drive for Uber or Lyft
If you want to make some extra cash without committing to a full-blown job, driving for Uber or Lyft is a legitimate option. Demand for ride-sharing has been growing like crazy, and it shows no signs of slowing down. To be eligible, you’ll need to be at least 21 years old with a year of driving experience, pass a background check and own a car made in 2007 or later.
We talked to Paul Pruce, who had been driving full-time with Lyft for over a year and earning $750 a week as a driver.
Best of all, he could do it on his own time. You can work days, nights or weekends — it’s up to you.
Because it’s easy to switch between apps, Lyft drivers often also sign up to drive with Uber.
17. Rent Out Your Driveway
No one wants to worry about feeding a meter while on vacation. If you live near an event center or stadium, rent out your driveway using sites and apps like JustPark or MonkeyParking — or go old school and simply post a “Parking” sign in front of your house. You may only earn $20 per day, but $20 is $20.
18. List Extra Space in Your House
Have a spare room? Might as well try to earn some money by listing it on Airbnb.
If you’re a good host with a desirable space, you could add hundreds — even thousands — of dollars to your savings account with Airbnb.
A few simple steps can make the difference between a great experience and a less-than-satisfactory one. We talked to Terence Michael, an Airbnb superhost based in Los Angeles.
Here are some of his tips:
Break out the labelmaker. “I have the entire house loaded with labels,” Michael says. “They look nice; they’re modern. This helps people feel less helpless.”
Be a good host, and stock your place with the toiletries you’d expect at a hotel — toilet paper, soap and towels. Here’s a little hack from Michael: “I order on Amazon and have it delivered when people are there.”
Be kind to your neighbors. “I say, ‘I’m not going to put anyone here who I think won’t be good for you,’” Michael explains. “And I turn a lot of big groups away, especially in Nashville. I don’t want anyone going to the cops or the city.”
(Hosting laws vary from city to city. Please understand the rules and regulations applicable to your city and listing.)
19. Rent Out Your Car
If you put Uber and Airbnb together and mix them up, the result is renting out your car for extra money. You’re earning extra income from your car, but in the passive way you rent out an extra room — you just have to be cool with strangers driving your car around.
One service to start with is Get Around. When signing up, you’ll list your car and its availability —plus, all cars on Getaround include primary insurance during rentals. Another to check out is TravelCar, a service that allows you to rent out your car while you’re on vacation.
20. Host Trivia
Consider yourself a “Jeopardy!” nut? Combine your love for trivia, wealth of teaching knowledge and ability to command a room to become a part-time trivia contest host. After all, coming up with a set up trivia questions isn’t too far off from crafting a quiz for your students.
Check with your local restaurants and bars to see whether they’re in need of a trivia host. Sure, you might find yourself working only one night a week, but it’s a fun way to flex your brain muscles and earn extra money.
This math teacher in Florida told us he earns $125 per week hosting trivia (and he also offers tips on how to do your best Alex Trebek impersonation).
21. Rent Out Baby Gear
Renting out baby supplies — what will they think of next? There seems to be a rental service for just about everything these days, and this one is great for anyone who can get behind earning some extra cash off of that unused baby stuff taking up storage space.
Companies like BabyQuip allow traveling families to rent strollers, car seats, cribs and other baby items instead of lugging around their own gear. So if you have baby equipment you’re not using, you can list it for rental.
Manuela Madrid, a stay-at-home mom in Brandon, Florida works less than 12 hours per month renting out her gear through BabyQuip, and earns between $120 and $180 with each fulfillment. BabyQuip users keep 80% of each reservation fee, but 100% of each delivery fee.
You can sign up for BabyQuip here, or check out these other options: Babies Getaway, goBaby and Traveling Baby Company.
22. Officiate Youth Sports Games
Aside from coaching, another way to get involved in youth sports over the summer is by officiating games. Plus, officiating gives you the involvement in local youth sports without having to offer as much commitment that coaching would demand.
One option is working as a youth baseball umpire, a gig that can earn you upwards of $50 per game, which are usually less than two hours long. Aside from directly reaching out to youth sport programs, you can reach out to your local umpire association to inquire about open positions.
Summer Jobs if You Want Some Me Time
Look, if you want to spend your summer months catching up on some much needed alone time, we definitely don’t blame you. But that doesn’t mean you still can’t earn some extra money along the way.
23. Write Book Reviews
Here’s a dream scenario: Spend your summer months getting paid to stay curled up with a good book. Freelance book reviewing won’t give you J.K Rowling-level finances, but it’s a great way to earn extra cash while doing something you love — and were probably going to do all summer anyway.
How much you can earn will vary depending on the publisher and your skill level, but you can typically look to earn anywhere from $5 to $100 per review. Plus, you’ll probably get the book for free. Score!
Here are some reputable websites and publishers that will actually pay you for book reviews.
24. House Sitter
If your summer months are going to be spent picking up odd jobs and side hustles, house sitting will fit into your schedule quite nicely — and it’s a great opportunity for some alone time.
Whether you’re spending the night in the home or just stopping in for a short while each day to bring in the mail, house sitting is a pretty easy way  to put extra pennies in your pocket.
Sure, you can go through friends and family, but the chances of that avenue offering paid gigs is slim. Check out professional sites that can connect you with potential clients in your area, like HouseSitter.com.
25. Transcriptionist
A transcription gig is perfect for teachers who just want to throw on a pair of noise-canceling headphones and block out the world for a bit.
You can typically find transcription jobs in three categories: general, medical and legal. Note that the latter two might require additional training or requirements, but that will depend on the employer.
Most transcription jobs are independent contract work, so you can set your own hours and work when you want. Just note that transcriptionists are usually paid by the audio hour, so the amount you earn in comparison to hours worked will depend on your transcription fee.
26. Deliver Food
We already talked about driving for Uber and Lyft, and this is kind of the same thing… except you don’t actually have to talk to people beyond the “Here’s your food, you’re welcome, bye.”
Working for food delivery services gives you the opportunity to pick up side-gig work when you feel like earning extra cash — while enjoying some me time. Uber Eats offers flexible food-delivery opportunities, as do GrubHub, Instacart and Shipt.

Because you’re about to discover virtually everything you need to know to develop the coaching practice of your dreams, even if you don’t yet have the right credentials or training, and don’t particularly like marketing: Discover how to magnetically attract coaching clients … pre-sold on YOUR coaching services before they contact you! Learn which advertising mediums really work for coaches, and which are a complete waste of money! See how to sort through the maze of confusing training and certification options! Hear real coaches discuss their experience, and share hours and hours of coaching insights with you! Minimize costs and manage business risks! Maximize your confidence as a coach! Build a marketing system designed to bring you client after client on autopilot! (It’s one of the single biggest factors which distinguishes successful coaches from those who just “trade sessions” with others on the sidelines, hoping and praying for paying clients)… And most importantly, see how to get meaningful and measurable results for your clients so they’ll stick with you and refer others! With easy-to-understand audios, videos, & action plans that cover coaching skills, marketing, training, motivation, and more, this system saves you literally years of guesswork. So if making a full time income doing what you love sounds good to you … If you’re thrilled by the prospect of getting paid to help others … Even if you only want to generate a few thousand dollars a month in your spare time… then grab a cup of your favorite Latte, bolt the door, put your phone on “Do Not Disturb”, let your calls go to voice mail, and put anything that could distract you aside! You’ll want read this letter from top to bottom without missing a word because in today’s world you can become an independent and financially successful coach using the internet, Skype, and your telephone to attract (and work with) clients from all over the globe. And, if you’ll excuse the immodesty (and promise not to tell my mother)… Terry Dean, million dollar coach, author, and entrepreneur. He’s trained dozens of coaches to build documented six figure practices, and has helped thousands of entrepreneurs get their start online since 1996! Dan Gallapoo is a copywriter, coach, and multi-million dollar entrepreneur who trained (and actually lived with) legendary marketer Gary Halbert. Better known as “Doberman Dan” in the business world, Mr. Gallapoo specializes in health niches. His work has been featured in Muscle & Fitness, Natural Body Building and Fitness, Flex Magazine, Weekly World News, Men’s Edge, and many more prestigious periodicals. Glenn Livingston, Ph.D., is a psychologist by training, but spent most of his career as a coach and marketing consultant. He not only built a 65 person practice in record time, but his companies have sold over $20,000,000 to Fortune 500 firms like AT&T, Lipton, Novartis, and Whirlpool. (You may have heard him on ABC or CBS radio, seen him on TV, or read about him in The New York Times, The New York Daily News, and/or Crain’s NY Business) Mister “X”, our fourth expert—who prefers to remain anonymous in this letter—built a multi-million dollar business on mental health topics which nobody believed were marketable. He’s sold thousands of coaching sessions, and has 11,000 testimonials from happy customers! You’ll Be Learning From Experts Who’ve “Walked the Walk”, Not “Posers” Who “Talk The Talk!” (When You Take a Breath and Think About This Seriously, You’ll See This Makes OUR Program Better Than EVERY Other “How to Build a Coaching Practice” Product in the World) Listen, the internet is amazing. It puts SO much information at our fingertips. But it’s pretty dangerous too. Especially for coaches… Because everyone and their dog can put up a site that says “Hey, I’ll teach you how to build a coaching practice and make big bucks doing what you love”… You see, because coaches so desperately want to “make a difference while they’re making a living”, and to finally “get credit” for their real life experience, it unfortunately doesn’t take much to sell expensive training and certification programs to naïve coaches hungry for the dream. But do you wanna know the sad truth about finances in the coaching profession? THE SAD TRUTH ABOUT MOST COACH’S FINANCES TODAY: Economically speaking, the vast majority of coaches are broke. They spend their time giving each other FREE practice sessions. They’ve got virtually NO income to speak of from their own paying clients. (Some coaches might be better off, at least financially, delivering pizzas for a living. Seriously.) It’s a sobering thought, especially given the fact most coaches are sincere, skilled, and genuinely passionate about the field. And most ARE willing to put in the work to make it happen… Worse yet, many have spent thousands on expensive certifications by prominent institutes and training centers… There’s NO official credential required to provide coaching services. And NO regulating body. I’m not saying you don’t get valuable skills or training from certification programs. But you should definitely think twice before shelling out the equivalent of a mortgage payment. Susan Austin—one of the early founders of the coaching movement—put it best when she said “I think most people should spend the money for certification only AFTER they’ve been rejected by their third client due to lack of credentials. It almost never happens!” The coaching business is ABSOLUTELY NOT NOT NOT something that follows the dictum “If you build it, they will come”… It’s NOT something you can “manifest” or “will into existence”… You’ve got to follow a tested and proven model from people who’ve REALLY done it. And ideally, from people who’ve proven they can teach others to build successful practices too. But many of the courses which supposedly teach you the coaching business are either offered by POSERS (people who “talk the talk” but never really “walked the walk”)—OR—by genuinely skilled coaches who never mastered the business end of the game. The unfortunate result is that eager new coaches routinely pay thousands of dollars for training, only to wind up without a clue as to how to FILL their practice with real, paying clients No matter how good your coaching skills are you can’t possibly be fulfilled if you’re worried about paying your bills while you’re interacting with clients… No matter how much you’re helping clients, you’ll help them more once you know for certain you’re on the right financial road FOR YOURSELF… No matter how noble a profession coaching may be, at the end of the day financial stress KILLS the experience. Period. (Please read this sentence again) Which is why I want you to know for certain that you’ll be learning from four REAL experts—NOT POSERS—thoroughly qualified to provide everything you need to know for your coaching business: DR. GLENN LIVINGSTON: Since I’ve jettisoned my modesty for the duration of this letter, and since you’ve promised not to tell my Mom, I’ll start with myself: I’m the son of two therapists in a family of 20 psychologists, social workers, and psychotherapists. (Literally, when we walk into a restaurant together and the hostess says “Table for Dr. Livingston” or the dreaded “Dr. Livingston, I Presume!?”…at least a half dozen people turn around). While you may not want to come to my family reunion, it’s important for you to know the “helping business” is in my blood from birth… After getting my Ph.D. in psychology I built a 65 person practice in approximately eighteen months, just outside of New York City. When people’s symptoms resolved , I would invite them to become coaching clients. This became the bulk of my practice 5 years later. I generated more than 1,000 new client calls and referrals during this time period! (I also supervised psychotherapists and coaches to develop their client skills)… Because I don’t have kids, thoroughly enjoy my work, and have had NO commute working from home for the last 21 years, I launched a second career as a consultant. My specialty was helping large companies evaluate psychological response to advertising, which is where I originally developed my marketing expertise… I also offered team building sessions, creative ideation sessions, and name development sessions which were arguably some of the most expensive coaching services ever sold! (In one of them, my wife and I were responsible for leading an executive team to develop the name “Nextel™” in a single weekend. They became a billion dollar conglomerate, and we got $25,000 for the workshop. I think they got the better deal!)… My firms eventually sold more than $20,000,000 in consulting services to clients like: Along the way my company work and/or theories got tens of thousands of dollars of free publicity in places like … But in 2003 I got fed up and stressed out from working with 800 pound gorillas. I wanted something, at least for a few years, that had nothing to do with business advice or making money. And I wanted to take my skills to the INTERNET too. So I fired my corporate clients and quietly used the methods I developed doing millions of dollars of high end consulting to discover little untapped markets. I made over $250,000 selling e-books and audios. Some of the little niches I practiced these techniques on were: How to care for pet guinea pigs, rabbits, frogs, and goats (I sold over $250,000 worth of e-books and audios–each one for under $10–that’s a lot of piggy books!) Reading body language (another $100K–$14.95 at a time) How To Solve Sudoku Puzzles (I built a whole company around this one with a partner, it quickly had 100,000+ subscribers!) And a whole range of other weird issues, like dealing with radon problems, waste water management, etc In 2006 word got out, and I began teaching seminars to help others leverage my techniques. By 2008 I was flooded with requests to market FOR other businesses (including dozens of coaches), so along with a partner I founded an internet marketing agency which grew to 21 people before I sold my shares. The agency put me in regular contact with some of the top internet marketing experts in the world. More importantly, I saw what turns dollars IN into dollars OUT over and over again, since I not only reviewed client business models but saw the statistical results in their advertising accounts. Needless to say, I’m not “talking theory!” I know what works–and what wastes your valuable time–in today’s online world… I have a coaching system which is routinely sold out with a waiting list more than one year long. (And I charge $1,000/hr for one-off phone and/or Skype time outside of this system) I bring the money-making disciplines of marketing, psychology, research, competitive intelligence, and statistics to bear on your coaching market. It’s a unique power your competitors can’t match… Oh, and in case you’re wondering, I definitely DO have a full and balanced life! I’m married for 25 years to a gorgeous, funny, and brilliant woman. I take full day hikes in the White Mountains at least once a week. I’ve got two dogs who are more intelligent (and entertaining) than most people I know, and a niece and nephew who bring such joy to my life I never could have imagined! MISTER TERRY DEAN: Oh, there are a LOT of impressive things I can tell you about Terry… Marcus Santamaria SynergySpanish.com Start with the fact he’s been coaching entrepreneurs to online success longer than ANYONE else I know… Consider how Terry’s solved more online sales problems than anyone else I know (he’s been doing it since 1996)… That he founded, grew, and sold the first paid online discussion board for marketers, causing him to “retire” before age 30… That he’s ALSO got a coaching system which is routinely sold out. (Terry charges $500/hr outside of this system)… And that he’s one of the only coaches I know who has INDIVIDUAL clients who’ve paid him more than $100,000… Then I think you’ll start to get the picture!… But the most important thing I can tell you about Terry Dean is this: Terry is MY coach. You see, even though he’s become a good friend and joint venture partner, I haven’t missed a single session (or payment) for 5 years running. Terry was there before I was famous online. He helped me start, build, and sell the online agency. He looks over pretty much EVERY sales piece I put out before a single prospect gets to see it. And despite my abnormal success in the coaching industry, Terry radically revised my thinking on how to sell coaching when he reviewed THIS system with me. (Hint: I almost NEVER recommend people offer free sessions anymore!)… My 7 Minute Personal Testimonial About Working with Terry Dean Just so you can thoroughly grasp the importance of this relationship, consider that I’ve got the cell phone number of many the best marketers in the world on my iPhone’s speed dial right now. And most of them would be HAPPY to hear from me, and would eagerly lend their brainpower to any pressing problem I might have without charge. Yet I CHOOSE to pay Terry each and every month for his focused attention. I affectionately call him “Spiderman” because of his keen marketing sense and sense of personal moral responsibility (very rare these days!) Not bad for a guy 10 years my junior! (And one who completely failed at his first sales job and started out delivering pizzas for a living at $8/hr) MISTER X: Since millions of people will read this letter, Mister X asked me not to reveal his name on this site: You see, Mister X serves a set of niches in mental health with lay-coaching systems, DVDs, CDs, and books/eBooks… His personal story is so powerful, and he’s marketed it in such a strong way, that he’s literally eliminated ALL noteworthy competition. But he’s not taking any chances, and I wouldn’t either if I had developed a multi-million dollar system with 11,000 testimonials from raving fans in this arena! Suffice it to say, Mister X has my highest respect. In fact, I literally begged him to participate on this project, because his perspective is SO unique (what other coach can you name who sells literally thousands of client packages year after year- and can genuinely say he has served them well?) Mister X is arguably the single best mental health marketer in the world, and his experience speaks SO strongly to the intersection between mental health and coaching, I couldn’t imagine doing this project without him! (He’s also my “go to guy” for strategic advice about my own business, and even my personal life. We’ve been speaking several times per week for the past 3 or 4 years) DOBERMAN DAN: Finally, there’s “Doberman Dan” Gallapoo, protégé’ of the legendary Gary Halbert! Dan is the #1 copywriter I know when it comes to selling with riveting personal stories… an absolute MUST for the coaching market! Dan’s a former cop who quit his job and moved in with Gary Halbert to learn how to build his own supplement business… While he did indeed sell millions of dollars of supplements, in the process he became a razor-sharp, in-demand copywriter who’s written for Muscle & Fitness, Natural Body Building and Fitness, Flex Magazine, Weekly World News, Men’s Edge and many more prestigious periodicals… And while Dan ALSO does run his own small coaching business (charging clients up to $18,000 per year to participate), his extraordinary value to this project was in his contribution to the marketing system. Not only does Dan add the incredible nuances of sending direct mail to build your email lists—(few marketers are going OFFLINE to acquire online prospects these days, but if you know where to buy the media and how to negotiate the right prices these customers are some of the best you’ll ever get!)—but he gifted the project his coaching salesletter, tested and proven in the trenches, and written by one of the world’s best copywriters! (That means YOU can spare yourself the time and agony of writing your own salesletter… and avoid the painful expense of hiring a copywriter who may or may not do a great job! More on this later.) Now, let’s talk about… The Coaching Business System You Can Access Just 5 Minutes From Now… (And begin implementing to build a lucrative, fun, and emotionally fulfilling coaching practice as soon as tomorrow morning!) These include coaching contracts, online marketing cheat sheets, common coaching mistakes, and a step-by-step guide specifically for your clients on how to write concise emails (and better organize their questions before each session): Client Guide to Concise Email Questions: Mister X used to spend hours buried in client email each day, even going so far as to hire someone to summarize emails he received before reading them. But then he developed this simple, polite set of instructions he required his clients to follow before sending him a question, and the smoke suddenly cleared. (Considering this one tool can very well save a busy coach HOURS each and every day, it’s probably worth the price of this course all by itself!) 3 Coaching Assignments PROVEN to Work: Dr. Sharon Livingston joins Glenn in this step-by-step audio and cheat sheet. Sharon has personally spoken to over 60,000 consumers as a coach, psychologist, and focus group leader for Fortune 500 companies. Together they share 3 fun exercises you can use immediately to help your clients reach breakthroughs in their life or business (yes, each of these unique exercises can be used by both life coaches, business coaches, and executive coaches in any market). Coaching Versus Psychotherapy Guide: Coaching and Psychotherapy have one thing in common… they’re both about people helping people. But beyond that, there are a LOT of minefields and pitfalls you can fall into if you don’t make the difference clear to your clients. This simple one page guide—including specific, kind words you can use to explain the distinction to your clients—solves the problem and is a real lifesaver! Self-Confidence Cheat Sheet for Coaches: One of the biggest differences between successful coaches and those who struggle and flounder is CONFIDENCE. Yet it’s also one of the most difficult things to wrap your head around, because it has nothing to do with “rah rah” cheerleading sessions or self-affirmations. Confidence is derived in the coaching profession from a core set of counter-intuitive principles (and of course from seeing client success). Glue this one page cheat sheet to the inside of your eyelids and you’ll have an instant confidence boost whenever you need one! (OK, so don’t really glue it to the inside of your eyelids… but you might want to!) Telephone and/or Skype Coaching Skills: If you want to work with clients from all over the world—and why wouldn’t you!?—understanding how to create intimacy and attention without face to face contact is essential. Yet there are several simple things which can obliterate your emotional connection with clients that MOST coaches completely ignore. Just keep this by the phone or computer and you’ll be fine! 12 Common Coaching Mistakes: Here’s the thing about coaching… everyone thinks they can do it until they try. “Hey, I’m great at talking to people, and people like me. I can do this!” Then reality hits… it’s a LOT more difficult to convince people to give you time and money to talk to you. Especially on an ongoing basis. And this creates a “wall of illusion” which keeps a lot of coaches out of the game. Yet there are 12 simple mistakes most beginning coaches make which makes clients run for the hills. Discover and quickly absorb all twelve of them in under an hour, saving you literally months—if not years—of frustration! Sample Contract For Writers: Part of the marketing systems we teach you to magnetically attract all the high paying coaching clients you’ll ever need involves emails and “content gifting.” Many coaches may wish to develop these materials themselves, but if you’re going to hire a write to do it, make sure you get them to sign a contract first so it’s clear who owns it! (Important Note: because we are not attorneys, this is NOT to be construed as legal advice. We can’t promise our contract legally secures your copyright, we just thought you’d like to start with the ones we use ourselves) Sample Coaching Contract: When you work with ongoing clients, it’s important to have a clear set of expectations and responsibilities. It’s also critical to cover your liabilities. (Important Note: here too, because we are not attorneys, this is NOT to be construed as legal advice. We can’t promise our contract legally protects you, we just thought you’d like to start with the one we use ourselves) How to Choose Your Coaching Niche Cheat Sheet: The one advertising mistake that literally prevents 90% of all coaches from making a living (and realizing their potential) is … advertising as a general coach! Tap into these 7 underground strategies for finding clients with money…ready to hire you as a coach. 15 Coaching Delivery Mechanisms: Most coaches paint themselves into a corner when they think about actually delivering their coaching. In person, phone, Skype, and maybe email. But did you know there are FIFTEEN ways you can deliver your coaching services? And that some of them offer extraordinary leverage!? After you read this cheat sheet you will! (I’ll tease you with ONE right now… in my group webinars I find that out of every hundred paying members, only ten show up live, and only ONE wants to talk to me out loud. That’s a leverage ratio of 100 to 1! It means that I’m getting $3500 for everyone I actually talk to in these 90 minute events, even though THEY are only paying $35 themselves. I hope you can see the potential!) Create Your F-A-S-T Action Coaching Model: Unlike some coaching systems where the authors just blather away for an hour and then expect you to be able to implement what they said, you’ll find we actually PLANNED OUT AND MAPPED each and every module. That’s why it was easy for us to deliver this two-page cheat sheet for the most critical part of your coaching business… how to create your F-A-S-T action coaching model! REMEMBER: The F-A-S-T action coaching model is what can empower you to earn a full time income on a TINY but relevant list…It’s what let’s you convert coaching prospects to paying customers without causing the most common objections. In a nutshell, it obliterates purchase resistance! Magnetic Client Attraction Cheat Sheet: Similar to the above, but focused entirely on implementing the marketing system for your F-A-S-T action coaching model. Plug n’ play, man, plug n’ play! Comparison of the 5 Best Coaching Models: This is a one-page cheat sheet we created in case you ever feel tempted to try a model other than the Signature F-A-S-T action system. And as crazy as it sounds, once you read this, you’ll be about as likely to want to use another model as you would be to pour hydrochloric acid on your genitals. (Hey, it might sound interesting, but in the end, it burns, man, oh does it burn!) Your Coaching Funnel Cheat Sheet: Most coaches fail because they don’t have a stair step SYSTEM for gradually working prospects up the ladder to becoming regular paying clients. Put this info-graphic and one page cheat sheet on your wall as a constant reminder to keep you on target as you build your marketing funnel! You’ll want to print this toolbox out and keep it as a quick reference guide for building your own highly profitable (and emotionally satisfying) coaching practice from home. In total these tools and cheat sheets represent over 100 years of our combined experience in coaching, marketing, and communication skills. Many of the individual tools (the “Client Guide to Concise Email Questions”, for example) took years of experience to develop all by themselves, yet you can instantly benefit from reading a simple page. But, it gets even better… You’ll Also Get a License to Legally Copy and Steal Three Sold Out Coaching Salesletters! (The very same letters that keep our own high-income coaching practices on waiting list status, often for more than a year at a time!) You can’t ever hope to generate clients 100% online unless you have a winning ad. Simply put, you’ve gotta tell visitors the right things, in the right order, and formatted the right way to convert them into paying clients. But it often takes years of practice—along with trial and error—to find out what works best. You don’t have that kind of time! We understand. That’s why we’re throwing in…not 1-but 3 “sold-out” coaching ads for you to freely steal. Since they’re our own personal ads, they fit perfectly with the systems you’ll follow from the course. We’ve already agonized, edited, and tested these ads until they were proven to convert. To give you an idea of just what we’re handing you here, Doberman Dan charges $15,000 + 5% of royalties when he writes a sales letter for one of his insider’s circle of clients. And that’s for a brand new ad that isn’t proven to convert visitors into sales. We’re giving you PROVEN ads. And as of this writing, you can NOT hire Glenn or Terry to write your ad at ANY price! Yet we’ll give you 3 ads…not just any ads…but proven, sold-out winners to edit and use as your own! (Never fear … we’ll take you by the hand and guide you step-by-step to claiming it as your own in the next bonus). Terry Dean’s One-On-One Email and Phone Coaching Ad Has Sold Out Over 10 Times So Far, and Sold Out in Just 15 Minutes the Last Time It Was Offered ! Glenn Livingston’s Coaching Board produced so many freaking clients that he closed it to new member for 16 months! Doberman Dan’s F-A-S-T Action Coaching Ad sold out his original coaching program and then was transformed to selling an ongoing course without support for $1,397 a pop! Just flip out our credentials and testimonials and replace them with your own, and they’re yours to use, free and clear! Tested and proven in our own coaching practices, these materials are worth their weight in gold. They not only draw the best clients to you like a Doberman to a prime rib, they simultaneously repel problem clients. (Did you know ONE bad client can ruin your coaching practice? Hey, I heard that someplace before!) BONUS #3: “CLAIM OUR PROVEN ADS”: A VIDEO WALK THROUGH! Maybe you don’t recognize the value of the above bonus? Or perhaps you’re scared because you’ve never written an ad before in your life? We’ve got you covered. You’ll receive a step-by-step video taking you through each of the ads and how to edit them for yourself. (We’ll demonstrate with 3 wildly different markets)… Look over our shoulders as we transform all 3 of these ads in under 2 hours total on video for you…that’s an average of just 40 minutes spent per ad to claim it as your own. Why and how each headline—in the tested and proven letters you’ll be licensed to steal!—grabs attention and how to change it for your market (you don’t want to grab a headline without knowing the psychology behind it … which we lay out in detail)… Why our introduction and stories describe the problem, provide a unique promise, and add proof to our offer…and how to fit YOUR own story right into these 3 templates… Watch as we edit bullets to and describe all the benefits of each offer… while you follow along with us at home modifying it for your audience… Everything is laid on the line as we explain the psychology behind our offers, why they’re presented this way, and how to model them for maximum income in your own coaching practice! We had a hard time putting a value on this bonus. You get our proven ads…plus the psychology behind them…and watch as we teach you how to edit them for your own audience using 3 unique markets. It took us YEARS to learn the copywriting skills used in these ads… But you get to shortcut that whole learning process and cut to the head of the line. You get to avoid the agonizing years of copywriting experience before we produced these masterpieces. You get it all handed to you on a silver platter! How Much Do You Think Four Million-Dollar-Marketers and Coaches Would Charge to Hand You the Keys to a Financially Rewarding and Emotionally Fulfilling Coaching Business? Given our credentials and experience, you might think we’d charge you a fortune for this system, but you couldn’t be more wrong. Don’t get me wrong, we certainly COULD demand $2,000—or more!—for the kind of money for the results we can deliver (especially given the DOUBLE your money back guarantee we offer!)… But just because you CAN do something doesn’t mean you SHOULD, if you know what I mean. Too few people think like this these days, in my humble opinion… And there are probably a dozen reasons why all four of us are motivated to make this more affordable…some of them selfish, and some more altruistic. Let me list just a few: First of all, most of us are getting to be old men. (Not “I-need-help-to-go-to-the-bathroom” old, or even “comb-some-individual-hairs-over-your-ginormos-bald-spot” old, but there are definitely more grey hairs in my beard than black ones these days.) When you get older, you start to think a little more about significance than financial rewards… Don’t get me wrong, we love money, and we think you should too!… It’s just that, well, when you get to be our age you start feeling like being heard by the masses is perhaps equally as important as the Benjamins, if you know what I mean. So pricing this affordably means we impact more people, plain and simple. Second, like most coaches, we’re motivated to make a difference while WE make a living too. A lot of what we see out there in education for coaches seems just plain WRONG from our perspective. We’re not saying we have the only answer. But we ARE saying you need to see what we’ve got to offer because until you do, you’re very vulnerable to being deceived, or only getting HALF what you really need to succeed. (Unfortunately you don’t get partial credit for building HALF a bridge ’cause nobody gets across, no matter how much time, effort, and money you poured into it.) Third, we all have many CURRENT customers who are out there trying to build coaching businesses, and we feel an obligation to set them straight without charging them a fortune to do so. You see, most of us offer stellar courses in general online business, copywriting, market research, internet conversion, and more. This is kind of the other half of OUR bridge for our loyal fans who happen to be coaches, that’s what I’m saying.

More on this later.) Now, let’s talk about… The Coaching Business System You Can Access Just 5 Minutes From Now… (And begin implementing to build a lucrative, fun, and emotionally fulfilling coaching practice as soon as tomorrow morning!) The deep core of the program is comprised of six full length audio interviews (conferences) where Terry, Dan, Mister X, and I lay out everything you need to know to attract clients, coach them successfully, and grow your income: MODULE #1: Secrets of Six and Seven Figure Coaching Programs The one mistake even experienced coaches make that sabotages their income…and how a simple change to your approach magnetically attracts new clients and more money to your practice. Unlock this secret and you can MAKE clients flood your practice using simple emails, website copy, and phone messaging… Mental health coach reveals insider secret to selling thousands of one-on-one coaching sessions despite the fact he’s not a psychologist, psychiatrist, and doesn’t have a single professional credential to his name! Amazon Kindle’s $2.99 e-book pricing is devouring the profits of the average online marketer today. But did you know there’s STILL a proven method to set yourself apart as a coach and command premium fees not just for your coaching…but for your books, audios, videos, and more!?… The 2 beliefs my first personal coach helped me overcome to generate my first million dollar windfall in my consulting practice. (You don’t have to be the ultimate expert … you just have to get results for your clients)… Why turning away a majority of your potential clients can add big dollar signs to your practice…your competitors won’t have a clue why you’re making so much money! How to use the “ice cream cone” strategy to attract dozens of high paying clients, primed to work with you without a hard sales pitch… our little tweaks make it look effortless… WARNING: MASTERMIND GROUPS DON’T WORK IN MOST MARKETS unless you’re selling to business owners AND you already have a humungous list of customers! There’s a better way to quickly and easily fill your practice for the brand new coach which works in 99% of markets! Why beginners can use the “ATP” rule to quickly jump past more experienced coaches…even if they’re new to marketing (In fact, the less you follow what coaching “experts” tell you, the faster you’ll establish a winning practice)… MODULE #3: Coaching for F-A-S-T Action Results! The single worst sentence you can utter to a new client. It’s SO bad, it actually causes backwards progress! (This sentence is commonly taught in coaching certification programs but it’s a disaster in real life) The two “instant focus” steps to propel your client forward immediately. (Just “plug and play” using our exact words). Eliminate your inner fears and objections so you can realize your truly amazing potential as a coach! These include coaching contracts, online marketing cheat sheets, common coaching mistakes, and a step-by-step guide specifically for your clients on how to write concise emails (and better organize their questions before each session): Client Guide to Concise Email Questions: Mister X used to spend hours buried in client email each day, even going so far as to hire someone to summarize emails he received before reading them.

You’d be amazed how many companies are regularly hiring work-from-home employees, and with such a broad selection you can find an opportunity that fits your skill set.
Customer service, copy editing, travel consulting, coding, part-time, full-time, seasonal, freelance: Honestly, the internet is your oyster. You can start with with our Work-From-Home jobs portal to find a gig.
