Every time I hear someone talk about literally anything as being better because it's ~modern~ I think about grey-and-white interior design, and soulless bland blank garbage that's easier to mass produce, and think uncharitable thoughts at how easily so many people just go the fuck along with whatever is ~trendy~ so they won't look ~out of touch~ or whateverthefuck.

Yes I do have some strong and not entirely friendly* opinions about Modern design, too.

#it's just such lazy shorthand ok #to say nothing of hte cultural reasons why it's just accepted as fact that Modern == Better #angst and woe #design #perhaps i'm extra cranky because i'm Tired #but that only means i'm more likely to be loudly upset #*mostly hostile #once upon a time i had an article that talked about how the sleek detail-free design was bad because of ... fuck i forget!#it was important though! something about a very human-animal need for different levels of detail or something #it was about architecture and urban design but i suspect this is more widely applicable #anyway while i'm on a tear fuck apple computers in particular #appification of the internet is like turning a queen anne into another beige box with no details and no personality
