The Littlest Timelord: Cracks in Time Chapter 20
TITLE: The Littlest Timelord: Cracks in Time Chapter 20 PAIRING: No Pairing RATING: T CHAPTER: 20/? SUMMARY: A little girl escapes the Time War when the Timelord’s return in “End of Time Part 2″. The newly regenerated Doctor must now raise the little girl while trying to find out why cracks in time keep following them around.
[A/N - Wow. Chapter 20. Can you believe we’ve made it this far? We’re onto “Amy’s Choice” now, so we’re half-way through the season!]
The Doctor stumbled out of the TARDIS from where it was parked in a small garden. “Rory!” the Doctor yelled as he came out of the house.
“Doctor”.
“I've crushed your flowers…”
“Oh, Amy will kill you”.
“Where is she?”
“She'll need a bit longer”.
“Whenever you're ready, Amy!”
Amy waddled out of the house.
“Oh, way-hey! You've swallowed a planet!” the Doctor exclaimed.
“I'm pregnant”, Amy told him.
“You're huge”.
“Yeah, I'm pregnant”.
“Look at you. When worlds collide”.
“Doctor, I'm pregnant”.
“Oh, look at you both. Five years later and you haven't changed a bit…” The Doctor hugged his former companions. “…apart from age and size”.
“Oh, it's good to see you, Doctor”.
“Are you pregnant?”
Amy laughed. “Where’s Elise?” Amy asked him.
The Doctor waved his hand dismissively. “Oh, dropped her off with River for a while”.
“Oh? Co-parenting, I see”, Amy said.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Elise opened her eyes and found herself in a bedroom, but it wasn’t her one on the TARDIS. She sat up as her father came into the room.
“Good morning, my little one!” he said, “C’mon. Mummy has breakfast waiting”.
He picked her up and carried her downstairs.
River was standing in the kitchen.
The Doctor handed her off to River and Elise buried her face in the woman’s blonde curls.
“How did you sleep, my little star?” she asked.
Where were Amy and Rory?
“She seems a little off today”, the Doctor told River as he ate some cereal straight from the box.
River glared at him as she rubbed Elise’s back. “You’ll feel better once you eat something, love”, River said and put her in her chair.
But all Elise wanted was her Auntie Amy. Her blue eyes filled with tears.
“Oh, don’t cry”, the Doctor told her, “We’ll go to the park later and then we can go for ice cream!”
“Not until she’s eaten breakfast”, River said. River set a plate of scrambled eggs in front of her, but Elise pushed it away from her.
She didn’t want to eat. She wanted to go back to the TARDIS.
River sighed. “Elise Smith, eat your food or we’re not going to the park”.
Elise picked up her fork and ate her breakfast reluctantly. Once she was done, River took her upstairs to get dressed.
They came back downstairs and River opened the front door.
Elise’s eyes went wide. She was on Gallifrey. They were on Gallifrey! The sky was the same burnt orange she remembered it being and the trees shone with silver leaves. Elise ran into the front yard, burying her hands in the red grass. It all felt so real.
“Elise!” her father called.
She walked over to him and he pulled a tarp off something.
A brand new tricycle sat there.
“Made it myself”, he told her, “Still has training wheels of course. I thought you could ride it to the park”.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“Someone, something, is overriding my controls!” the Doctor yelled.
A short man in a red bow tie and tweed jacket appeared on the stairs behind the Doctor. “Well, that took a while. Honestly, I'd heard such good things. Last of the Time Lords, the Oncoming Storm. Him in the bow tie”, he said.
“How did you get into my TARDIS? What are you?”
“What shall we call me? Well, if you're the Time Lord, let's call me the Dream Lord”.
“Nice look”.
“This? No, I'm not convinced. Bow ties?”
The Doctor tossed his screwdriver at the Dream Lord and it went right through him. “Interesting”.
“I'd love to be impressed, but Dream Lord. It's in the name, isn't it? Spooky. Not quite there”. He popped up behind them. “And yet, very much here”.
“I'll do the talking, thank you. Amy, want to take a guess at what that is?” the Doctor asked.
“Er, Dream Lord. He creates dreams”.
“Dreams, delusions, cheap tricks”.
The Dream Lord pointed to Rory. “And what about the gooseberry, here. Does he get a guess?”
“Er, listen, mate. If anyone's the gooseberry round here, it's the Doctor”, Rory said.
“Well now, there's a delusion I'm not responsible for”.
“No, he is. Isn't he, Amy”.
“Oh, Amy, have to sort your men out. Choose, even”.
“I have chosen. Of course I've chosen”, Amy told him. There was a pause before Amy hit Rory. “It's you, stupid”.
“Oh, good. Thanks”.
The Dream Lord popped up behind them again. “You can't fool me. I've seen your dreams. Some of them twice. Amy. Blimey, I'd blush if I had a blood supply or a real face”.
“Where did you pick up this cheap cabaret act?” the Doctor asked.
“Me? Oh, you're on shaky ground”.
“Am I?”
“If you had any more tawdry quirks you could open up a Tawdry Quirk Shop. The madcap vehicle, the cockamamie hair, the clothes designed by a first-year fashion student. I'm surprised you haven't got a little purple space dog just to ram home what an intergalactic wag you are. Where was I?”
“You were…” Rory said.
The Dream Lord appeared on the upper part of the TARDIS. “I know where I was. So, here's your challenge. Two worlds. Here, in the time machine, and there, in the village that time forgot”.
“One question. What have you done with Elise?”
“And why would you care about that brat? She’s been a burden on you ever since you ‘acquired’ her”.
“She’s not a brat. She’s my daughter”.
The Dream Lord rolled his eyes. “Fine. I’ve sent her into her own dream. But it’s not all sunshine and roses there either”.
“If you’ve harmed her…”
“Nothing dangerous. Just not as sweet as it can be. Soon as you choose, you can have her back. Here are the rules for you three. One is real, the other's fake. And just to make it more interesting, you're going to face in both worlds a deadly danger, but only one of the dangers is real. Tweet, tweet. Time to sleep”.
The birdsong started up again.
“Oh. Or are you waking up?”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The Doctor and River walked hand-in-hand down to the shops with Elise riding her tricycle in front of them.
She noticed the looks they were getting. People whispered behind their hands as they passed.
“Ignore them, sweetie” River told her.
They finally came to the park and Elise left her bike with them to go play on the playground. But all the children she encountered ignored her. It was like she wasn’t even there. Every time she tried to insert herself into a game, the other children stopped playing and walked away from her. Elise finally sat down on a swing by herself as she watched her father and River argue.
“It’s okay, sweetie”, River told him.
“No! It’s not, River! Look at her!”
“Shh, keep your voice down”.
“The other children won’t even play with her. What are we supposed to do when she starts the Academy? The teachers are going to be extra tough on her because she’s my daughter”.
“We’ll figure that out when it comes time”.
Tears filled Elise’s eyes as she stormed over to them. She wrapped her arms around River’s legs as she cried.
River picked her up. “Shh…it’s okay, sweetie”.
The Doctor sadly picked up the tricycle and they walked home while River tried to comfort Elise.
Elise didn’t understand what was going on, but she didn’t want this anymore. She wanted to be with Amy and Rory and her father in the TARDIS.
Exploring the galaxy and running around saving people.
*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*
When they got home, Elise went straight to her room and climbed in bed. Her father followed her and laid down behind her. Elise rolled over and buried her face in his chest, taking comfort from his scent.
Whatever this was, he still smelled the same to her and wore his tweed jacket and bow tie with pride. “I’m sorry”, he said as he stroked her hair.
She could hear the tears in his voice. Elise closed her eyes as he started to hum “Rainbow Connection”.
The song he used to help her fall asleep after the Byzantium.
A few minutes later, the door opened and River walked in carrying a breakfast tray with three bowls of ice cream.
“I thought you two could use some cheering up”, she said. She set it down on the bed as Elise and the Doctor sat up. River went into the bathroom and grabbed a warm wet towel and cleaned Elise’s face. “There we go”, she said, smiling.
Elise gave her a small smile before grabbing her bowl of ice cream.

Blaise x Ron. Bicycle. 😏
Oh, my love. I don’t know what you were expecting when you sent me these three words, but I promise you, it was not this ABSOLUTE LITERARY MASTERPIECE. Enjoy, and then google “Adult sized radio flyers”. You are welcome.
“Sorry I’m late,” Ron said, rushing around a corner, faced flush and panting. “I think I lent Hermione the car this weekend to pick up the kids and I can’t take the tube since… The Incident.”
“You think you lent her the car?” Blaise replied, making sure his expertly arched eyebrow highlighted his dripping sarcasm perfectly.
He was trying his best not to feel relief every time Ron actually showed up again, ready to work with him and be an Auror who didn’t judge him based on his surname. He usually failed.
“I mean, I assume she has it,” Ron smirked. “Otherwise, it’s been stolen and someone should call the Aurors! Oh, wait…”
He laughed at his own terrible joke, then winked, strolling up to the edge of the barrier and looking around with a keen eye.
As usual, Blaise’s stomach fell to his knees. Winks were cruel. Ignoring the sensation, he turned back to the scene. It was nothing intense, but he’d put up the magical barriers anyway. The Ministry was funny about Murtlap. If you were foolish enough to ask anyone why, they’d go off on an angry tale about the 1920s, a Muggle, and Americans. Moreover, if you stood there long enough, you were more than likely to end up with the job of reporting on the Murtlap population in England that spring. One creature on the loose hardly required two teams of the upper officers, but it was honestly just safer to show up at the scene.
Blaise was actually annoyed at Ron this time. He’d already processed the scene, repaired the broken glass, and dealt with the mouldy old Muggle lady who was in charge of the shop that had been destroyed. It had taken him twenty minutes to clean it up with his wand and then Confund her. Plus, the damned creature was gone again.
He was silently fuming as Ron walked around, looking for unknown details and ignoring Blaise’s murmured pleas to not disturb anything else before the forensics team arrived.
“Get this spot already?” Ron asked, kicking it with his toe.
“Yes.”
“What about the hair by the—”
Blaise interjected. “Ron, I’ve already done my job. And your fucking job, too, for that matter.”
Ron smirked, still looking at the ground. “Relax, panty twist,” he teased. “I already apologised. And I have pastries in the basket of my bike. If I also promise to do the paperwork, can I be forgiven?”
Blaise refused the smile that wanted to reply to Ron’s smirk and turned away, adding rancour to his tone when he said, “It will be a start.”
He walked away to make his point; when Ron caught up to him with his long stride, though, he chose not to hold his breath. Ron always smelt of sugar, or possibly honey. Blaise knew it was because he’d been baking too much since the divorce, but since he always profited from this late night stress reliever in the form of fancy scones or biscuits, Blaise chose to believe the hobby was positive.
Plus, he got to work beside the sweetness instead of the many other odours crime scenes offered. Sometimes, though, he did wonder if he was mostly in love with the smell of pastries, and not the insufferable ginger. It didn’t really matter, because it didn’t make it less true that he was definitely—embarrassingly, painfully—in love.
Sighing inwardly, he asked why Ron hadn’t just Apparated here; in all honesty, Blaise knew the answer. Ron hated Apparating, and his house was just around the corner. It was irrational, but Blaise suspected the beautiful, faint spiral on his right shoulder had everything to do with it; pain had a very long memory, and Blaise had never been splinched. Ron just shrugged and gestured to where his bike must be.
Blaise burst out laughing at the vehicle Ron was walking up to, even as he pulled a tub from the basket in the front.
“What?” Ron asked, immediately defensive. Which was wise, since Blaise was quick to mock and slow to let things go.
“Hate to break it to you mate,” Blaise grinned, flicking the little red handle derisively, “but this is not a bicycle.”
“Haha,” Ron deadpanned. “I know it’s really old and not that flash but it gets me where I need to go.”
“No, I mean, it’s not at all a bicycle,” Blaise insisted. “It has three wheels, Ron. You’re best mate is bi. You know what the word means. That is absolutely, definitively, by definition, a Tricycle. And not even a dorky adult one, at that.”
The longer he looked at it, the harder he laughed. The words Radio Flyer were spray painted in white on the side, and there were bright red streamers attached to the handles. The basket on the front was wire, and stuffed into it was Ron’s kit of supplies.
“Weasley, where in fuck’s name did you get this thing?” Blaise said through continued peals of laughter.
Ron had gone bright red, but it was his Angry Red, not his Embarrassed Red—which was actually more of a shiraz colour and filled Blaise with glee whenever it appeared. He could, if he wanted to, spend time analysing how ridiculous it was that he had catalogued the blushes of his coworker. He didn’t, of course. That was a dangerous path.
“My dad charmed it for me. I needed a bike. It was in his shed. He assured me it was a regular, run-of-the-mill Muggle thing,” Ron replied through clenched teeth.
“Yeah, well it is,” Blaise giggled. “When you’re three.”
“I’m going to kill him. No wonder he had to make it so big.”
“Yes, well. You are six-foot some-odd,” Blaise agreed with a nod. He took a deep breath and let his voice go quieter. “It’s kind of cool, I guess? In a weird…not at all cool way?”
“Six-four,” Ron growled. “In other words, tall enough to kick your bloody teeth in, you idiot.”
Blaise laughed again and let go of the handles and dropped his glee at the same time. Ron was close to defensive, and that was significantly less fun than mad.
“Right then,” he said conclusively. “Give us a ride back to the office on your fancy wheels, Auror Weasely.”
“What?” Ron replied tersely, holding onto his mad face though the flush was already subsiding and Blaise knew that he was really just mad at his dad for making him the fool.
“What? You don’t know about the best part of a tricycle. Look.” Blaise stood on the back of the oversized trike, making use of the built-in steps. “It comes with a built-in passenger seat!”
Blaise teased, gesturing to the seat. “I promise to stop laughing at you if you can get me back to your flat alive so we can Floo from there.”
Ron scrubbed the back of his neck and looked uncomfortable for a minute. Blaise was puzzled. Discomfort was not an expression he was used to seeing. Blatantly angry, yes. Or else incredulous or proud, arrogant or gleeful. But never discomfort.
“Er, where do you hold on?” Ron asked gruffly.
Blaise shrugged. “Usually the driver’s shoulders. Come on, we’ll be late and Draco will have our hides.”
Ron, looking resigned, reached back into the basket and pulled out a black helmet that would have been more suited to something with a motor.
“Don’t you dare fucking start again,” he grimaced. “I will not risk my skull for something as stupid as a bicycle after surviving a war.”
“Wise,” Blaise choked.
He couldn’t laugh. Not even a little bit. As Ron jammed it on his head, Blaise bit his tongue. Every well-intentioned insult he’d been about to hurl disappeared at the sight of Ronald Weasely, in a tight black henley, the jeans of a man on a day off, and a black motorbike helmet. The image, of course, could have been ruined by that same man clamouring aboard a red, adult-sized Radio Flyer. Instead, he settled back until his strong back muscles brushed up against the back of Blaise’s thighs and he gripped the handles firmly.
“Hold on, Zabini,” he said gruffly.
Of course, peddling riding a motorbike. It wasn’t like the many times Blaise had gripped his thighs to a man hurling him around corners as an engine rumbled beneath him majestically. This? This was anything but majestic. But it was fucking adorable. Plus, he was absolutely touching Ron, which was on a long list of things he’d told himself he Could Not Do since the divorce and therefore felt very dangerous. Blaise, not being his mother, had found it pretty easy to hide his attraction when Ron had been Husband and Father. It had been getting harder and harder over the past year.
The ride was only five minutes. The wind kicked up as they hit an incline. People on the busy side street turned to look a second time when two, significantly-sized adult men rode a giant tricycle past them. Uphill and in the wind, Blaise found his arms wrapped tightly around Ron’s chest and shoulders, leaning on his back and firmly pressing in with his thighs. He was also thinking about the position way, way too much. But Ron never slowed or faltered in his peddling, like Blaise’s five-eleven frame was nothing more than pastries in a basket.
Ron pulled up to his building and stopped suddenly outside his garden, leaping off the seat and hurtling himself toward the front door. Alarmed, Blaise followed quickly and silently; it was usually worthwhile to follow the lead of his partner. Ron was incredibly perceptive, an extremely good judge of character, and pretty decent at seeing things from much further away than made sense.
Once up the steps, Ron whispered a word and the door popped open. He flung himself inside and Blaise quickly followed with his wand drawn and ready to cast.
“What is it? Direction,” Blaise barked, full Auror voice returning him from his dizzy, aroused fantasy world on the back of the trike.
“Nothing,” Ron replied in a voice Blaise had never heard before. “There’s nothing. I just—”
He cut himself off and reached out to take Blaise’s wand from him. He relinquished it easily as he noted that Ron’s face had also changed; there was grim determination behind it that looked nothing like his work self. He dropped Blaise’s wand carelessly and took the helmet off in one smooth motion.
“I just wanted to get up here and behind that door quickly,” Ron continued. “Before I lost my nerve.”
He backed Blaise up until he hit the wall of the entryway. A knee pinned him there, hands on either side of Blaise’s head. “I think we’ve been tiptoeing around this for a bit too long, and I’m not exactly a coward. Neither are you, Mr send-backup-but-also-I’m-already-through-the-door.”
“That was one time and you—”
But Blaise didn’t get to finish, because he was busy kissing Ron. The shift had been subtle, slow. There was no reason to be attracted to this fool, all full of Gryffindor fluff and utterly pointless courage. Blaise found him suffocating and claustrophobic, cloying and contradictory. He had been fighting with himself to move on, remove his attraction. There was no reason for the heat in his stomach when Ron spoke to a victim. Nothing menacing about the extra nearly-half-foot Ron had on him. He was a giant kitten, full of blushes and glowers that went nowhere.
But god damn if he wasn’t also an absolutely brilliant kisser.
“You’ve made a terrible mistake,” Ron muttered, pulling back. “You followed me to a secondary location, into my home. I took you on my unmarked vehicle by offering you a ride. That’s victimology 101.”
“Oh dear,” Blaise growled, pulling Ron back by the hair at the base of his neck, placing his lips on the rather sharp jawline and smirking. “I’ll certainly be regretting my naïveté later when you have me…tied up.”
The growl was audible, even though the rush of blood in his ears.

2020 Subaru Legacy Tech Dive: EyeSight, DriverFocus, Starlink Shine
Subaru Legacy Touring XT 2020 (April)
The 2020 Subaru Legacy is a near-perfect car if you’re looking for solid transportation and extensive safety technology across all trim lines. Every Legacy has all-wheel-drive, and enough driver-assist technology to be virtually self-driving on highways while protecting pedestrians in town (called Subaru EyeSight), track and alert inattentive drivers (DriverFocus), and call for help in an accident (Subaru Starlink).
The new, 2020 seventh-generation Legacy also has front cupholders deep enough to not spill a 32-ounce Big Gulp, were the car capable of a 4-second 0-60 run (it’s more like 7 to 9 seconds, depending on the engine). The engine’s “boxer” technology, similar to what Porsche uses, lowers the car’s center of gravity. The front and back rows are spacious and the trunk is enormous. Highway mileage is in the upper thirties.
So what’s not to like? Not much. This Subie won’t move the excitement needle quite like Mazda or Honda does among midsize sedans. It’s not as dazzling as the 2020 Hyundai Sonata. There’s less ground clearance than the similar Subaru Outback crossover. The new infotainment system and navigation had a few quirks, the kind a firmware upgrade typically cures, and stop-start twisted the steering wheel and my thumb a couple of times (more below).
The Nappa leather cockpit of the 2020 Subaru legacy.
The Car for Inattentive Drivers?
You say you’re a good driver; I say I’m a good driver. Yet surveys find the majority of Americans self-describe themselves as above-average drivers, which is statistically impossible. And yet, we also know people close to us whose driving skills or cognition worry us: teenagers and others in their first few years of driving, aging parents, a spouse or partner who’s had a couple of fender-benders that were the fault of “the other guy,” and people who text or create on-the-fly playlists even when they know it’s unsafe.
Subaru is a leader among automakers in making virtually all its safety technology standard across every one of the six trim lines, or model variants, of this new 2020 car. Buy any Legacy Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, Limited XT, or Touring XT and you get:
A dual front-facing camera system, Subaru EyeSight, to keep you in your driving lane, warn of / brake for possible forward collisions, detect and brake for pedestrians at speeds up to 20 mph.
Full-range adaptive cruise control as part of EyeSight.
An active driving assistance system that controls speed and lane centering, pacing any car in front of you, also part of EyeSight.
LED low and high-beam headlamps with automatic high-beam control.
All-wheel-drive for extra grip in snow or rain, or on gravel roads.
Any Legacy other than the base model has safety telematics (called Subaru Starlink) standard. Blind-spot warning is available, optional on two trim lines and standard on three; it also includes rear cross-traffic alert and automatic braking while backing up. An excellent eye-tracking driver distraction system, DriverFocus, is standard on the top two trim lines and optional on a third.
One feature not offered is a surround-view camera array that primarily improves tight-spaces parking, but it also protects you (if you watch the screen) from running into kids’ tricycles or kids on tricycles. Rear auto-braking provides that protection.
With the 260-hp turbo engine (top two trim lines only), you’ll hit 60 in 6-7 seconds. Add 2 seconds for the 182 hp engine on other Legacies.
Legacy on the Road: Mostly Smooth Sailing
I drove the top-of-the-line 2020 Subaru Legacy Touring XT, about $37,000 including shipping, with warm brown Nappa leather, moonroof, an 11-inch portrait-orientation center stack LCD, vented front seats, heated fronts and rears, onboard navigation, and immense amounts of back-seat legroom and trunk room.
Subaru lie-flat boxer engine: two cylinders go left, two cylinders go right.
With the new, 2.4-liter turbo engine of 260 hp and continuously variable transmission on the Limited and Touring XTs, it was quick, hitting 60 mph in 6-7 seconds. Highway miles went by quickly. Under foot-down acceleration, there wasn’t much noise from the CVT transmission; some testers have noted it on the non-turbo Legacy that has to be pushed harder to get up to highway speeds.
Most four-cylinder-engine cars have an inline design. Most Subarus including the Legacy have horizontally opposed, flat or boxer engines. They are effectively V engines where the angle is 180 degrees, not the 60 or 90 degrees of V6 or V8 engines. The engine is more compact, has less inherent vibration, gives the car a lower center of gravity, and allows for a lower hood and better driver sightlines. Against that, the engine requires two cylinder heads. Porsche also uses flat-six engines in the 911, Cayman, Spyder, and Boxster. The term boxer alludes not to the small crate it fits in, but rather the in-out motion of the two adjacent pistons that looks like a boxer’s fists.
Where most automakers use a combination of radar and a camera for driver assists, Subaru’s Eyesight system uses stereoscopic cameras. It’s standard on the 2020 Legacy, Forester, Outback, and Ascent; and available on the Impreza, Crosstrek, and WRX.
Pedestrian Detection Saves Another Jaywalker
Highway driving was enjoyable with the driver assists, a nicely sound-insulated cabin, very good Harman Kardon premium audio, Wi-Fi on Starlink telematics cars, and USB jacks for four people. In town, the driver assists work well; a jaywalker who popped out mid-block was picked up and the car came to a quick (sudden) stop. But spirited back-roads driving was not as much fun as some other cars in its class, notably the Mazda6 and Honda Accord. The 2020 Subaru Legacy is based on the same new platform as the 2020 Subaru Outback crossover-almost-wagon. But the Legacy’s ground clearance is 5.9 inches to 8.7 inches for the Outback. So the Legacy is fine in the rain, snow, and on gravel roads, but not the first choice in Subarus if the road to your country cabin is deeply rutted.
Subaru has rudimentary self-driving capabilities utilizing EyeSight, although Subaru doesn’t consider it to be formal self-drive tech and has no Eye-something shorthand name such as, say, EyeDrive. (BMW might not be amused.) Once activated, it centers you on a highway and proceeds at a pre-set speed, slowing for cars in front of you. It combines Subaru’s Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control feature with Lane Centering. As with other vehicles, activation is a multi-step process.
DriverFocus, on upper trim lines, combines a camera and infrared illuminator. It watches to see if the driver’s eyes are on the road ahead.
DriverFocus: Big Brother Is on Your Side
Take your eyes off the road, and the DriverFocus eye-tracker tells you to pay attention.
Subaru DriverFocus, an eyebrow module at the top of the center stack, contains a camera and IR illuminator to track where the driver is looking, and rats you out after 10-15 seconds of not looking ahead. GM’s highly regarded Super Cruise self-driving technology uses eye-tracking also.
Some driver-attention monitors count the micro-movements a driver continually makes as he or she drives.
I had two concerns with my test car: I was startled a couple of times by the gas-saving stop-start system. Occasionally as the engine came to a stop at a traffic light, the steering wheel on my test car abruptly turned a couple of inches and twice caught my thumb that was loosely holding the wheel next to the spoke. After the second time, I decided to keep my thumbs off the thumb grips once this car stopped at a light.
The infotainment system had trouble parsing some spoken commands, wanted to drive me to the intersecting street with the same name plus “Extension” at the end, and occasionally would not connect an iPhone using two different Apple cables or with Bluetooth. On sunny days, the LCD was sometimes hard to read and the brushed chrome-look trim strip around the center display reflected the sun’s glare.
The Subaru Legacy instrument panel. The center multi-information looks busy. (It is.) But it also gives the driver lots of information at a glance. If this feels like TMI, you can flip to simpler views.
EyeSight Is Improved, Still Unique
Subaru says EyeSight has been improved and I sensed that both in the ability to pick up a car ahead from a greater distance and to be less affected in the rain. In some ways, EyeSight in snowy conditions may be better than radar in that windshield wipers clear the paths in front of the two cameras. If snow blocks the radar sensor, you have to get out and scrape it off with a brush or your gloved hand, assuming the driver knows where the sensor is located in the grille. Also, snow and rain reduce the effectiveness of radar to some degree.
Subaru Legacy Touring XT, the top trim line.
Safety Features Abound
Even if you are a statistically good driver, a car such as the Legacy improves your odds of staying safe. It also improves pedestrians’ odds: A 2019 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety study found Eyesight-equipped Subarus reduce pedestrian-injury claims by 35 percent. IIHS also found Subarus with second-generation Eyesight did better than first-generation systems dating to 2010. IIHS said it found no significant self-selection bias, meaning the idea that safety-conscious good drivers might seek out safe-seeming Subarus and Volvos. Separately, IIHS found Subarus with EyeSight had up fewer rear-end collisions and passenger injuries.
How solid is Subaru on driver assists and safety technology? Here’s a rundown:

Should You Buy?
The 2020 Subaru Legacy is a solid midsize car for people who don’t need a status symbol. The Legacy wins a lot of awards but not all of them. Consumer Reports has it as the best midsize sedan and one of only 10 CR Top Picks among 300 models for 2020. In contrast, Car and Driver put the Legacy eighth behind the Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, and the Mazda Mazda6, among others. Guess which publication favors safety features and comfortable ride versus spirited handling? The Legacy is also a 2020 IIHS Top Safety Pick+, which means good ratings in crash tests, advanced or superior ratings in available front crash prevention, and (the plus part) acceptable or good headlamps standard.
We like the Legacy a lot, even if within Subaru this is an outlier, a sedan in a company known for outdoorsy crossovers and SUVs: Crosstrek, Forester, Outback, Ascent. The Ascent had arguably been the best midsize SUV until the Kia Telluride / Hyundai Palisade came along last year. The Legacy had been unique in offering all-wheel-drive, but the Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry added it for 2020.
The steering wheel has big buttons and rockers, all legibly labeled. If only all cars were this clear with switchgear.
Subaru is a relatively reliable brand. The car is eminently practical. From the side, though, it’s hard to distinguish from a half-dozen other brands. Fuel economy is good, an EPA combined rating of 23 mpg for the turbo models, 29 mpg for the non-turbo. Real-world mileage should be several mpg higher, and with judicious driving, the non-turbo could approach 40 on the highway.
If you’re shopping Subaru for max safety, we’d suggest: Move past the Legacy base ($23,645 with freight) because you can’t get blind-spot warning / rear-cross-traffic alert or safety telematics, and past the Legacy Premium ($25,895) because you can get BSW / RCTA, but not reverse automatic braking (RAB). Blind-spot warning matters: Not all young drivers know to check side mirrors and look over their shoulders; older drivers may know, but may not have the dexterity to turn their heads sideways.
Every Legacy has dual front USB jacks (above) and, except for the base model (below), two more jacks in the back. Note how every jack and switch is nicely and legibly lettered.
The Legacy Sport ($27,845) lets you get BSW-RCTA-RAB in a $2,245 options package, along with a power moonroof and onboard navigation, for $30,090 total. Or for $30,645, you can get the Legacy Limited that includes BSW-RCTA-RAB, and the one options package, $2,045, gives you the moonroof again, a heated steering wheel, and DriverFocus. The top two trim lines, the Limited XT ($35,095) and Touring XT ($36,795), give you nice and nicer leather, DriverFocus, and the moonroof. So the sweet spot may be the Legacy Sport plus the options package, or the Legacy Limited, at about $30K each. Cross-brand shoppers comparing front-drive-only midsize competitors should attribute about $1,500 of Subaru’s price to AWD.
The Subaru Legacy should be at the top of your consideration set along with the Hyundai Sonata, the ExtremeTech 2020 Car of the Year. If you want a sporty car, look to the Mazda6, the Honda Accord, or – this is not a joke – the segment best-seller Toyota Camry with the TRD Sport, as in Toyota Racing Division.

2 a.m., la mer à l'intérieur
a response -- surely one of several -- to this. TW: baths, nighttime, Jackson/William erasure
Scully comes awake slowly, in the pitch dark, dreaming/feeling an unusually sustained rumble of thunder. She takes her time, savoring for the moment the fact that not every waking anymore has to be the old fight-or-flight, ride-or-die, mortal-peril gasping and clutching and reaching for the nearest firearm.
And she’s right, again — it’s somewhere past midnight but well before dawn, on a night like all their nights now: no set schedule, no place to be in the morning, no commute, no real urgency of any kind beyond the utterly commonplace needs of their second (third? Fourth, hundredth?) miracle. She’s not even 100% sure what day of the week it is, and god, what bliss to know this kind of peace.
That sound, though … the bath, she places it. The huge old clawfoot downstairs, it must weigh half an actual ton; the boys from the salvage yard had taken one look at their rickety, narrow, steep stairs and suggested this be the downstairs bathroom’s finest feature instead of the master bath’s indulgence. And that’s before the tonnage required to fill it — they’ve stayed in motels whose alleged pools held less fluid volume.
But why?
And as she lies still, listening, she starts to figure it out: Kit must have woken, and Mulder responded without waking her. And whatever it was that woke both baby and father, it must’ve required a bath. She can’t help the grin on her face: As with any four-month-old, every once in awhile, the situation is well beyond a dirty diaper — it’s a fucking Superfund site in there. Ain’t enough wipes in the world to finish the job.
He could’ve just used the plastic baby bath in their bathroom, but if the whole idea was to avoid waking her, he’d clearly tried another way — he just didn’t consider the old pipes, the way they’d announce his actions and whereabouts all over the house. God, how she loves him.
She checks in on the boob front — they’re full, but not painfully so. There’s time. But Kit will probably want at least a snack before she settles back in, post-bath, and since it’s either that or tether herself to the goddamned Medela to fill some bags with liquid gold, Scully decides to go join the midnight party.
Three steps down, she hears it: Mulder singing. His gravelly, borderline-tuneless rendition of an ancient Traveling Wilburys song is so bad, she almost cries for loving it so much:
I've been fobbed off, and I've been fooled
I've been robbed and ridiculed
In daycare centers and night schools
Handle me with care…
He hums the chorus, possibly with something stuck in his mouth? Then, in a great splashing among Kit’s unmistakable baby giggles, finishes strong with
I've been uptight and made a mess
But I'll clean it up myself, I guess
Oh, the sweet smell of success
Handle me with caAAAAAGH
There’s a graceless yawp, and he exclaims, softly but chidingly, “Hey, baby! That’s my nose! Leggo my Eggo!”
More giggles from the tiny terror, more splashing — enough, Scully has to see what’s going on in there.
She tiptoes to the open door, where he’s kept the light low to avoid letting Kit think it’s Morning FunTime, and the sight nearly stops her heart: He’s actually in the bath, not kneeling beside it like she expected; his gaudy red-and-yellow swim trunks billowing, his salt-and-pepper chest and back hair clinging wetly to his skin, his focus so completely, devotedly on their precious, precious, wonderful daughter.
He’s sitting braced against the far end, knees bent with Kit’s back resting against his thighs so they’re facing each other. She’s safely cradled, underwater to her armpits — it must’ve taken twenty minutes to fill the damn thing, no wonder it woke Scully — and her huge, bright eyes are round and full of the purest delight as she clumsily grabs again for his big dorky face.
Scully watches as he intercepts one infant pincer fist and speaks into it like a microphone: “And now, one for the youngsters:
Baaaaay beeee … SHARK! Doo doo doo doo doo doo!
Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo!
Bay-beee shark! Do -“
Scully tries to muffle her laugh, but he hears it and turns, positively radiant with joy. He’s not even the tiniest bit embarrassed at being caught in the Baby Shark act. Kit’s burst of wordless babble sounds very like an invitation to join them in the Big Water.
“Hey,” Mulder says, a very small word that — right here, right now — contains pretty much all the good parts of the universe.
“Hey,” she answers, feeling rooted to the spot, unfathomably blessed to witness something this ordinary, this lovely. He extends a dripping arm in welcome, and Kit — hilariously — follows suit. It’s enough to get her moving, moving toward them, joining their little circle. She perches on the edge of the tub, one hand caressing Kit’s head and one cradling Mulder’s. The devotion radiating off of both of them makes her want to weep; instead she laughs, amazed and humbled and completely unused to such raw and powerful things.
“Come on in, the water’s fine,” Mulder says, half in jest, and for once in her life, Scully just … goes with it. She stands up, disrobes, steps in — all in less time than it had taken her to get from the door to the bath in the first place.
Mulder lifts the baby high; Scully settles her back against his chest and takes Kit in her own arms, this little mer-person somehow made of the two of them, ordinary mortals. Kit goes straight for her breast, suckles comically loudly at first, then more quietly as the urgency passes.
In the near-silence, Mulder takes a breath, then sings low, rumbly, for her ears alone:
Somewhere in the ancient mystic trinity
You get three as a magic number
The past and the present and the future
The faith and hope and charity
The heart and the brain and the body
Give you three as a magic number
It takes three legs to make a tripod or to make a table stand
And it takes three wheels to make a vehicle called a tricycle
Every triangle has three corners, every triangle has three sides
No more, no less, you don't have to guess
When it's three, you can see
It's a magic number
A man and a woman had a little baby
Yes, they did
And they had three in the family
That's a magic number

Chicago: Become Human (Teaser)
Hey guys, it’s February. Here’s a little teaser of my fanfic. Still scheduled to go up on or around Valentine’s day.
Paring: Connor x OFC Summary: A damaged RK800 “Connor” model android is repaired and repurposed to work as a bodyguard for a private foundation.
**********
Chicago: Become Human
Chapter One: Connor Repurposed
October 2037 – One year and one month until the android revolution.
The RK800 model, serial number 313 248 317-48 sat in the back of the police cruiser with detached patience. Designated “Connor” by his designers, the android was at the mercy of the officers in the front seat. He went wherever they deemed to take him. Androids were not allowed to drive. They were also not permitted to carry any sort of firearm. They were allowed to work jobs and handle people's money, or look after children without human supervision. But cars and guns, the public was not ready to trust them with such things alone.
Connor had no opinion of it either way. He was not programmed to simulate opinion, only tell facts as he saw them. He was also programmed for infinite patience, which led to many, many hours sitting in the back of police cruisers, sometimes even locked inside alone. Connor had no opinion of this either.
Instead, he idled his time by rolling a quarter over his knuckles, back and forth, over and over in a perfect ripple. He had found the coin in one of the cruisers a few weeks ago and offered it to the officer on duty. The human just looked at it as if the money wasn't worth the effort to put it in his pocket and told Connor to keep it if he liked.
Connor didn't know about liking it, but he did keep it. In those quiet hours when he was forgotten in the back of the squad car, he would pull the quarter from his pocket and fiddle with it. Flipping it up in the air was the first thing he taught himself. Then it was rolling it over his knuckles from one hand to the other. Then came more complicated tricks: spinning it on his finger tips, flicking it from one hand to the other, nearly faster than the human eye could catch. He did not know why he taught himself these tricks, he just did them.
The squad car pulled into a small neighborhood. Connor noticed young children riding their bikes and trikes in the cul-de-sac where their target destination was located. Not an adult in sight—human or android. Very irresponsible, Connor observed. As the two officers in the front opened their doors, there was clear yelling coming from the house where they parked. The car doors were shut, leaving Connor alone inside. The back doors of the cruiser did not open from the inside, as that was where perpetrators were placed. Connor was used to it.
The entire purpose of the RK800 test model was to construct a perfect program that would eventually allow Cyberlife to release an enhanced android exclusively available to police departments. Something far more advanced than the regular beat cop models they already used. The main goal was to provide quick analysis to on-site crime scenes and assist in more complicated police matters. Especially those involving other androids, which, in just the few past months, was becoming an issue that had never arisen before. When the Detroit Police Department was given the android, however, they didn't seem to know what to do with him, which was why Connor spent so much time in the car.
He expected it to be much of the same this time, until the officer on the passenger side opened the door for him.
Officer Green was his name. “There's an android on scene. We might need extra assistance.”
“That's what I'm here for,” Connor said politely. He put the coin in his pocket as he stepped out of the car and straightened his tie. It was in his coding to always look as professional as possible. Cyberlife was trying to sell a product and it was his duty to make the product always look good.
Neighbors were gathering around the yard as the homeowner, a middle-aged woman, continued to scream hysterically in the driveway. Particularly at the the individuals that sat locked in her car. She had been frantically yanking on the door handles, screaming and swearing, and beating on the windows when the officers had pulled up.
“It's about time you got here!” The homeowner then turned her rage on the officers as they arrived. “That thing could have hurt my kids by now while you took your sweet ass time!”
Neither officer looked particularly concerned with the scene. As they tried to placate the woman about their lack of punctuality, Connor scanned the car. There were three bodies inside: two human, one android. The humans were in the back seat. Both were male, twins. Likely between the ages of five and six. They looked concerned, their hearts beating a bit faster than normal.
The android sat in the front seat of the car, hands on the steering wheel. She was an RX200: a domestic model specifically programmed for housekeeping and minding younger human children. Her face also looked stressed, her LED flickering quickly between yellow and red.
“That android could have taken off with my boys and done God knows what to them!” the homeowner continued to rant. “I called the station nearly forty minutes ago!”
“Ma'am, I assure you that is not a possibility,” Connor offered before the other officers could reply. “The RX200 model is programmed to be protective of children, not to harm them. And all Cyberlife androids have a fail-safe. Their program freezes if they attempt to drive any vehicle. The time-frame of our arrival would not have mattered. The android is incapable of driving away.”
The woman looked at him as if a lamp post suddenly started talking to her. She turned back to the officers. “Get that damn thing out of my car and away from my babies!”
Assured by Connor's words, neither officer responded as urgently as the mother. “Can you tell us why the android put the kids in the car?” asked Officer Barton, the one who had driven them to the scene.
“I have no idea. It's been glitching these past few weeks. I've been meaning to take it in for maintenance, but I haven't had the money.”
“Ma'am,” Connor offered again, “if you like, I can access the car's computer and unlock the doors.”
Suddenly he was someone worth the woman's attention. “Oh, yes please! Unlock the car!”
Connor hacked into the car's system with ease, but as he ordered the machine to unlock the doors, he was blocked by another cybernetic entity. The clash of two sent a painful feedback into his processor as a female voice screamed in his head. “GET OUT!”
Connor jerked back from the assault, his systems scrambling to block out the other android.
“What's wrong?” Officer Barton asked him.
“The other android, she's communicating with me over my radio frequency.”
“Stay out! They're safe with me!” the female android yelled in his head. Her voice was strained, static, and glitchy. “These are my children! Not hers! I raised them! I fed them! I put them to bed! My children! She can't take them away from me!”
“She thinks the children are hers. That you are trying to take them away,” Connor translated for the rest of them.
“I am trying to take them away from it! It's broken!” the mother spat. “I am their mother! I carried those boys in my body! How dare that plastic piece of--”
As the woman stalked toward the car, the engine jumped to life and everyone froze.
“She can't,” Connor insisted. “Her programming will never allow her to leave the driveway.”
The car lurched back and stopped, and lurched again, as if the driver were having physical trouble pushing down the pedal.
“Shouldn't be possible,” Connor muttered to himself.
“Stop it!” the mother screamed. “Stop it from taking my babies!”
The car lurched again as it backed out of the driveway.
“No, no, no!” Officer Barton called as the android-operated vehicle plowed its back end into the police cruiser.
With a grinding of gears, the car was forced into drive, the damaged back bumper now scraping on the ground. Connor processed the car's intended pathway instantly. The android was driving blind with panic, focusing only on fleeing. It took no notice that it was now putting other children in danger. Something that none of the Cyberlife models should have been capable of doing. They were programmed to shut down instantly if they were about to act on harming any human. And yet, here was an android driving a car and careening straight for a little girl pedaling a purple plastic tricycle.
Connor sprinted into the pathway of the fleeing vehicle. As the little girl came up fast, he dove bodily into the blacktop, shoving the small body out of the way. He saw the blunt nose of the runaway vehicle careening toward him.
He was aware of physical impact, then static.
Then nothing.
**********
Model RK800 “Connor”, serial number 313 248 317-48 was aware as he was brought online. His internal clock synced with online routers to confirm it had been two months since he had been active. Immediately, a smattering of damage reports flooded in. He felt no pain, but also could not feel his left arm. It was completely torn off. The rest of his limbs he was unable to move. He wondered if that coin was still somewhere on his person.
“Well, look, I guess it does still work,” said a female voice.
There were three humans standing in front of him. The one who spoke was Amy Witman, a technician with Cyberlife. Connor recognized her from his memory banks. She had begun working with the company two models ago. Each Connor, after the body was damaged, would have all programming, memories and data downloaded into a new body and sent back out into the field. The current Connor was eighth in the line of androids sent out in the field. After being offline for so long, no doubt the ninth Connor was already back with the police department for weeks now. Perhaps even that was damaged and now the tenth was in the back of someone's squad car.
There were two other humans with Amy: a broad, tall female with sharp features and short, dark hair, and a much larger male with a short marine-style cut and various pale scars on his face. Neither of these humans were in Connor's database.
“It's pretty hashed,” said the unknown female. “Is it even worth the effort to put it back together?”
“Yeah, the Detroit PD is pretty rough with them,” Amy agreed with a bit of irritation. “Those guys don't understand how expensive these are. They'll just take them anywhere. Several have come back with bullet holes. We do have other RK800's in storage that are brand new. Maybe you should ask about getting one of those.”
The unknown male stepped closer to Connor, eyeing his form up and down. “This is the one that jumped in front of a moving vehicle to save a kid, right? This is the one I want. And since it's all chewed up, no one's going to care if we do a little customizing when we put it back together. Maybe change that innocent little baby-face, too, while we're at it.
The unknown female took her turn to get close to Connor's face. “Nah, leave it that way. He's cute. She'll like it.”
Amy stepped forward and turned the android off. And Connor ceased to exist once more.

Are Trikes Safer Than Conventional 2-Wheel Motorcycles?
Value of 3 Wheel Motorcycle Training for Foreseeing Safety ConcernWe've all been seeing many motorcycles or motor trikes (three-wheeled motorcycles) on the road. Motor trikes grab attention more than 2-wheel motorcycles. Motor trikes look different - it looks like a batmobile from the backside, and in front, it looks like a chopper. Also, people call it a tricycle motorcycle. Day by day, trikes are becoming more popular. People are also taking a 3 wheel motorcycle course to enhance their skills and enjoy the complex techniques while riding.
But the most important question is that - are motor trikes safer than 2-wheel motorcycles? There are many factors in which anyone can say trikes are safer than motorcycles. This includes visibility, stability, and control.
Visibility -
The extensive and unique design of the trikes makes them convenient for vehicles and is more visible on the road. It quickly catches the eye of everyone on the road. According to a survey, most motorcycle accidents happen because the other rider is unable to see the vehicle because only heavy vehicles like cars and trucks are clearly visible to them. In such cases, the trikes have two wheels at the backside with a center back light, which is wider like a car. This implies more visibility and also a better chance to be seen by other riders on the road.
Stability -
In between a motorcycle and a trike, there is more stability in trikes because of three wheels. When you are driving on a curve road with your motorcycle, you need to lean into curves to prevent slide or injuries. In the case of trikes, the third wheel keeps the bike steady and more stable so that you don't have to lean into curves. Also, there is less pressure on your muscle to stay balanced on your three-wheeled motorcycle.
Control -
Motorcyclists are facing many accidents because of losing control of motorcycles. Due to two wheels in a motorcycle, riders are always concerned about the control system. When turning, motorcyclists must slow down their vehicle and slowly accelerate through the turn to prevent road accidents.
In such cases, trikes have more advantages because three-wheel trikes are easy to control and turn like cars. Some models have lower seats so a rider can easily control the vehicle at a slower speed.
The Bottom Line -
Trikes are perhaps the most popular 3 wheel motorcycle. Its popularity is increasing with each passing day because of the convenience and excitement it offers to the riders.
However, besides this, there are many other advantages also that riders can avail of. We have mentioned them above for you to have a clear understanding. Because of the third wheel support, the trikes get better equilibrium with proper weight distribution. Which can increase the traction that the tires have on point as you accelerate, brake, or turn. In three-wheeled motorcycle cases, visibility is much better than a motorcycle, which is wider like a car.
So, what are you waiting for? Get enrolled in a 3 wheel motorcycle course to enjoy safe riding!

A Peek into the Fastest Electric Scooter 2019
It is quite rare to get a combination of a motorbike, skateboard, bicycle and electric bicycle in a single-vehicle. This was when electric scooter got its hybrid form from the invention & alteration of the existing ones. The SLA batteries driven scooters were likely to create a hazard in different dimensions. So, the amalgamation of significant upgrades in Lithium-ion battery came with better electronics, great capacity, and high speed.
Things to know!
The fastest electric scooter 2019 is composed of so many things. First and foremost, it is important for all of you know the different parts associated with an electric scooter.
Motor:
Like the heart is the hub to live for a human body, in the same way, the motor is the real heart of the vehicle. It gives the strength and power factor to the wheels of the electric scooter. The engine can be mounted to the exterior side of the wheels or inside a rim called the hub motor. The hub motors are held in greater demand in terms of time, power and torque. It is more durable than any other alternative as it is protected from splashes.
Motherboard:
To coordinate with the functional parts of the electric scooter, you need the motherboard. It is the center of connection for all such transfers and functionality. It serves to be the center of all actions that you are going to operate with.
Battery:
Like the muscles in your body, the battery acts as a muscle in the electric scooter. Your vehicle will take the required amount of energy from the battery to regulate. The batteries of electric scooters are lithium-based and that makes them more compact and powerful.
Frame:
The frame of the electric scooter is like a skeleton that can withstand the weight. The frame is foldable, and this makes it portable to take it in a metro or train or bus. This ensures easy storage too.
Throttle:
The throttle is the connective medium that sends and speeds up the signal to the motherboard. If you want to speed up the scooter, you can open the throttle and pull it towards you gradually.
Brake:
The brakes are attached and wired to the wheels so that when the brakes are applied, the wires will generate friction to decelerate, giving you the option to slow down.
Some of the advanced Electric Scooters!
Different types of electric scooters have been launched in 2019. To start with electric kick scooters, electric bikes, electric motorcycles, electric tricycle, electric mobility scooter, and Electric Go Karts are the ones that deserve a special mention.

Recumbent Trike For Sale Advancement
By Sandra Wallace
Three wheel engines, generally called trikes are accessible in a few structures. A portion of the back wheel are customary 2 wheelers with bigger rotate with casing changes. In a low floor seat the rider is upheld by further tilts. The trail blazing bicycle is renowned for its solace and security. Three rollers are by and by hearty. Recumbent Trike For Sale cannot be overwhelmed by the three wheel drive, which decreases movement. In the event that the rider needs to stop, he quits accelerating. At the point when the bike stops, the trap stays unequal. Different apparatuses can be better utilized in the mountains as opposed to customary 2 wheel drivers. So as to keep up the cruiser, the driver must advancement with a twofold wheel drive. However the driver can adjust the mountains so that almost no hardware can be immediately fitted without dread. Vast cargoes can be fitted with inclining trucks, aside from the driver. The trucks stay stable with extra weight. On the ground are lorries, particularly lorries. This can prompt issues of deceivability when driving or stopping. For vehicle drivers, unwinding out and about is more enthusiastically. Many back rollers achieve a bigger moving base and remain on streets and side thruways. To keep away from a mishap with a fiberglass bar, numerous drivers utilize their vehicle. In exceptional circumstances, these truck couches may, for example, inordinate visitors, assemble solace or danger. The standard cycle knowledge spot makes embedding away from a distant more amazing drawing muscle that is only the iceberg own point of clear diverged. It was difficult to adjust the position of three wheels to a greater extent, rather than kidding. This will usually be the main aspect genuine to turns for those. Although the region needs traditional 2 wheels, traps could urge despite the honest to goodness. Those trikes should be difficult to deal with, each one similar to the standard is snappier to the creative speed denotes orchestrated. Much could worsen the use of this continuing decision by mitigating the tortured claim of handles, neck, and again decreased legs come back. It may be fascinating to perceive a distinct front denotes educator in alternately. Any person that could be supplied on prestigious it additionally is the point when as much actuality needs wounded or hit. These are our most enjoyable and valuable interactions. Why is a calm person the easy part of our decades. There is always a selection of receivers to help reduce entry costs. You can come to this reception world by spending time on the first wobbly tests and helping you choose which style is the ideal for you. Recumbent may be divided into four main categories into long, short, over place or underside steering. Long wheels are usually greater than your feet and long and help you reach the bumps and commonly sit higher. Since beginners have the close feel that they used to cycle, they often take much easier times on their long wheelbase. The seat needs shorter and lighter motorbikes, usually with or above the seat. It is considered better, because you have aerodynamic positions and you can push the pedal faster and faster because the wind is smaller. The next divisional line is what sort of steering. The handles are like a traditional motorcycle across the seat. A chopper or rather the tiller handlebar is available for long wheelbase bikes. A U turn could bring the bar around the corner for a long turn. The great news is that in this type of bar in front of you can sit and drink the bumps. Your wrists or your hands are very low, too, because you support your back. This control under the seat steering allows your hips to fasten controls with bar tips or curves inside the bar. It is great because your handshake is natural if you are having troubles with your wrist, shoulder or elbow. Sometimes people become nervous because when you try to get underground, it looks different. You think mastering is harder. Often they try a tricycle trick and see how the two wheels look like, all under seat control. Factors for all these models are increasingly diminishing. Hundreds of them are trying to find out what you want best. You must try many aromas and view what you desire the most for the first time. How it made easy to learn how to drive a relaxed person is to be surprised. After 20 minutes, most people will do us well. Those who are not going to ride are old all day. Try the best advice, come here, and come here. Many people drive two to five hours. You will probably purchase another favorite trike without test driving. Without the testing of riding. Some people would be happy to try it. You can choose it and send it to yourself if you are away from any store with different tricks, but you should be able to test it. Two major rollers are the traps. Under the seat on the back wheel the pedals are squeezed. Lighter, littler and quicker games. Many are less lively, however hard to make yourself inside or outside. There are numerous traps that you can without much of a stretch crease and wear. Considerably less costly bugs are accessible than Delta trikes. For progressively basic drivers, Tadpoles is regularly a superior decision. Delta traps face a directional wheel. The generally crossed mountains and slopes. The Delta drives on a side, which is difficult to graduate and accelerate. Delta lorries on a seat are normally more affordable. Delta traps are less demanding to enter or exit, in spite of the fact that a great deal of capacity traps are accessible as well. Normally they are lighter, lighter and energetic. Delta Trikes are the least expensive resting convenience. The Delta is multiple times expansive and difficult to import. At the point when alarm is required for littler traps, the circle brakes are more grounded and more grounded. A truck with a higher standard seat circle brake ought to be contemplated. It very well may be hot directly after a stop when you are utilizing plates. The drive is hearty and can be cut away with your finger. You should chop down the drum brake change and not change the brake cushions. Learning clues are a decent start, however you do not have the foggiest idea who you could attempt before a few brands are tried. Weight is estimated in the computerized part of your pages, except if generally indicated. Some believe it is good. Something like one organization said it was in the washroom to other people. Most makers are hopeful about a pound or two. It needs to change this space. Extra handle carriages are anything but difficult to utilize and in a littler circle a few carriages cannot be changed.

Philippines Newsletter 1
Hi people, how are you at present?
In my last blog there were two errors which I tried to correct but Tumblr, the creators of the web facility, seem to have modified or reprogrammed the site so I was unable to ascertain how to rectify my errors!
I have just returned to Bangkok after ten days in the Philippines.
Prior to going to the Philippines, I spoke with Filipinos about my intended trip to their country and they of course enquired where/what was the place I intended visiting. They were somewhat surprised that I would be moving around and not staying in one location! On learning where I was planning to go, they replied with, “that's a very beautiful place,” to which I asked if they had been there. They would invariably say no or not yet. Like other countries, so many Filipinos want/are obliged to send money home to help support or sustain the family so they can't afford the luxury of just travelling even in there own country.
Some facts about the Philippines:-
*The Philippines was named in honour of King Philip II of Spain by Spanish explorer Ruy López de Villalobos, during his expedition in 1542.
* It was therefore colonised by Spain for 333 years until 1898.
* Others then took over control (Japanese, USA)
* It is an archipelago consisting of 7,641 islands
* It has a total land mass of 343,448 square kilometres.
* The population is 106,512,074.
* The citizens spoke Spanish but now they speak Tagalog and other local languages.
* The currency is Peso and 100 pesos is presently equivalent to A$2.469.
I travelled to Manila, Puerto Princesa, El Nido, Cebu and Moabboab beach. I ran out of time to visit Bacolod and Bohol.
Now that you know briefly about the country let's look at a few things that are a little different from what we are used to.
Before cars enter airports, security guards at the gates have large mirrors on metre long chrome rods to check under the vehicle for things possibly concealed! (I've also seen this in Thailand).
The international airport where I landed at Manila was busy & not big enough/staffed well enough, to handle a full plane load of passengers. Many had to wait on stairs before getting to the immigration officers. However I was close to the front of the plane & was able to get to the front of the queue at immigration without much delay.
There are three terminals two of which are quite modern but the one I flew into was supposedly under-going an upgrade but there was on sign of it!
I arrived in Manila in the early evening and caught a free shuttle bus (compliments of the a/the hotel association but not mine!) and was dropped off near where I was staying.
Next morning, on my way, walking to another terminal to go to an island, named Palawan which a friend had highly recommended, I was stopped by a council buggy driver who offered me a lift to the airport terminal.
The plane left Manila & landed at Puerto Princesa, Palawan. I didn't think much of the part of the Palawan island where I was staying as it was quite dusty and run-down. The best parts of the island were apparently a five–eight hour road trip away and then the same time back on some very poor roads. Whilst there, I went on a day tour to an underground river. It took us a few hours to get there but well worth it. On all tours, one has to pay an "environmental tax.”
At Puerto Princesa, taxis are actually motor bikes taxis with a closed-in side car, have three wheels and are called tricycles or trikes. Some times they carry five or six passengers!
Notice the men working in the middle of the road with a ladder leaning against the overhead wires!!
I then travelled to a place called El Nido which is still on the island of Palawan but north west. Instead of travelling 6-8 hours by vehicle to get here, I flew. The airline, Swift Air, is not advertised widely and I was initially informed by a travel agent that there were no flights to this area. There are lots of beautiful islands round about there but the town itself was grubby, a building site & tourists galore. At El Nido, one can go island hopping, snorkelling, scuba diving and do a five hour steep hill/mountain climbing.
Like Peurto Princesa ,which I had just left, a lot of the area is also run-down or make-shift.
In spite of the magnificence of the views, waste management/ disposal is also a problem. What are we doing to our planet?
When the motor bikes taxis take clients to and drop-them off at the airport, they are not permitted to pick-up patrons, who have just arrived, but have to leave the airport empty. Sounds like someone has a monopoly.
In the big cities a long wheel based vehicle called a “jeepnee or simply jeeps, are the most popular means of public transportation in the Philippines. They are known for their crowded seating and kitsch decorations, which have become a ubiquitous symbol of Philippine culture and art.” One has to stoop down once inside. Patrons pass their fare money along until the driver, who, whilst driving, puts his hand over his shoulder to collect the money.
Signs – Shakey's Pizza. Buy one take one! Outside a hotel - Free room. (I think that they mean a room is available!). Hollow land for sale!
The Filipinos (adjective) from the Philippines (noun) are usually very friendly and helpful.
For breakfast, boiled rice, a fried, well-done egg & small portions of fired meat, fish or spring rolls seem to be part of the diet.
When needing to change money to a different currency, one can visit a pawn broker.
Apparently 69% of the population of the Philippines don't have bank accounts or use a bank so Pawn shops are needed.
On the return leg of the journey back to Thailand seniors (citizens) have a special line at the check-in airline counter and at immigration. They are also entitled to cheaper fares too at times!
Well my friends, that's it for the moment.
Kind regards,
Russ
