I am absolutely obsessed with this scene because as a tennis fan, I can assure you that it is 100 times worse for Art to be there. Patrick is absolutely right about that.
The tennis fans of the Challengers universe would either: 1) lose respect for Art since they see him being there as him using lower ranked players to make himself feel better about losing; 2) get angry and just tell him to retire; 3) get angry at Tashi and call her a bunch of very angry and derogatory terms and say that the reason Art is losing is cause he needs a new coach.
This decision is baffling from a real-life tennis perspective. The actual number 1 ranked tennis player in the world right now hasn't won a single tournament in 5 months but if he joined a challenger, we would all be pissed, disappointed and just straight up baffled.
Tashi really made a huge gamble in putting Art there, and she straight up says that it was to humiliate him, but not regarding Patrick, and I can't help but wonder if that wasn't a lie. Because the humiliation of a challenger wouldn't just affect Art, it would affect her too. The only way that would pay off is if she knew Patrick would be there to give Art the push he needed (they needed).
Also, the part where Art is like "you don't matter even to the most obsessive tennis fan in the world", BULLSHIT!
Tennis fans do watch challengers, I have currently two fav challenger series players plus two others that I follow cause even tho I'm not obsessed, I still really like their playing style (and they're all around Patrick’s ranking)
There are tennis fans in the world that do know who Patrick is, and there are tennis fans in the world who are fans of him!!!
Art was straight up just talking out of his ass in order to hurt Patrick’s feelings, and honestly, I kind of love that for him. I love little snakey snake Art

“I know what you're trying to do right now.” “I'm not trying to do anything, Art. This is a challenger. I don't need to play mind games with you.” “Right. You don't give a shit.”
