i SUPER respect that SM continues to push boundaries and trust their new girl group, the successor to the legacy of Girls Generation, f(x), and Red Velvet, with a song like this, with basically no discernible verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus structure. that’s pretty bold lol. its a little bit of a shame that it’s not something totally original, and the song first appeared (in a much less fleshed out state) in that movie, but like aside from that, yeah, this is interesting. the management side of SM sucks shit, but the music production side of SM has been killing it for like 20+ years lol

#you can never accuse SM of phoning in their music production lol #like even if a lot of the songs arent your style... its clear that theyre always trying new things #i know they dont write all the songs for their groups in-house lmao but they choose producers that they know will do something cool #and unique #which is why some producers like Moonshine essentially just become unofficial SM in-house producers hahaha #probably the vast majority of their kpop discography has gone to SM groups #there's the odd Elris Jackpot in there and Twice Dance The Night Away but for every non-SM group there's like four SM songs #in 2020 it seemed like three quarters of all songs released by SM groups were by Moonshine hahaha #it seemed that way anyway. NCT Dream Deja Vu.. etc #SuperM Tiger Inside AND One (Monster Infinity)....#im probably missing some too #anyway #my point is that SM love stuff that sounds totally unlike anything any other company would release #and you gotta give them props for that #love it or hate it #their commitment to that is so cool... especially since theyre like the biggest kpop company who has defined what kpop even IS the most #what would kpop even be without shinee tvxq exo snsd fx red velvet and now nct and aespa pushing the boundaries?#esp shinee tvxq and snsd obv cause they were influential on everything in the 2010s #and you're gonna hear red velvet's influence on kpop all over the 2020s im sure of it
