Ocarina of Time is an amazing groundbreaking game that belongs in the annals of gaming history and also is often the bane of my existence and did as many bad things for the series and Zelda gamers’ brains as it did good

#the same goes for FFVII honestly #great games to be sure #but their greatness has become a monolith in people’s minds #untouchable and monumental to the point that they can’t see past it and search for something new and fresh and different #they want to recreate the old hoping it will make them feel the way it did when they first discovered it #but they don’t want the old they want the feeling which can never be recreated by treading ole ground over and over #it only leads to stunting these franchises and product shilling to serve corporate greed #breath of the wild is an amazing groundbreaking game that dared to break this formula #and I fear too that it will suffer the same fate of becoming an impassable monolith
