Have you ever noticed that ever since season one of What If introduced Captain Carter, she's been showing up a lot more than Sam Wilson as Captain America? I once queationed it, which pissed off some Peggy stans on this site to the point where I had to alter the tags so I wouldn't have to deal with them.
Oh yeah I did, trust me, you’re not the only one. Many Sam or Steve or Bucky stans and, yk, Peggy antis here on tumblr noticed it, but her stans are just too stubborn to accept it.
In my humble opinion, I think Peggy is simply a better character for marvel to sell as cap (and not for the right reasons), which is why Sam’s cap hasn’t appeared in 2/3 years and all of Steve’s appearances were butchered.
Steve is noble, all about freedom and doing what’s right. He was a disabled son of immigrants who knew struggle and, in his own words, didn’t like bullies no matter where they came from, which means that doing what was right to him was more important than any government, any authority. Civil War is all about this characterization of Steve, and it’s why he was the perfect man for the job.
Sam is like Steve. He is a noble man who knew struggle and suffering growing up, who lost loved ones, his place in the world the moment he chose to follow what was right instead of what was ordered to him. He was ridiculed and beaten down, and risked losing it all multiple times, but that never made him back down. Plus, to add fuel to the fire, the higher powers would have never accepted him as Captain America because he’s black, no matter if Captain America himself passed the mantle to him, they wouldn’t have accepted him and still didn’t right up to the finale of TFATWS. Sam is perfect for the job and mirrors Steve as the perfect Captain America of his time.
Peggy is… well, she’s nothing of these things.
Yes, she’s a woman, and so everyone would be expected to find sympathy for her, to root for her, but aside from her stans no one actually does. Peggy has a support system and respect, like it or not, and she was relevant. She’s arrogant, she’s headstrong, and she doesn’t go against the system because she is the system. She’s not a minority, she never knew struggle, hell, she lived a comfortable life up until the war and after. And marvel can use her more than Sam or Steve because she’s not troublesome like them, she’s not going to rebel the system if not for selfish reasons or plot points. She’s not Steve, she’s not Sam, and she shouldn’t be, but at the same time Peggy should not be a Captain that marvel should enforce in their media over and over again.
As Erskine said, “Because the strong man who has known power all his life may lose respect for that power, but a weak man knows the value of strength and knows... compassion.” And while Steve and Sam don’t know strength in the sense that Erskine disregards, Peggy does. And if anything, she resembles John Walker.
Not to mention she is no character of her own, she’s simply the mixture of some characters thrown together in a cauldron, and in addition she’s a Mary Sue. She is a villain masked as hero, one that is convenient as a character and can be thrown from side to side as if she was some Y/N insert in an avengers fanfic.
Not only she has made more appearances than the current Captain America, but she managed to insert herself in the majority of What If…’s storylines, even more than actual main characters. Like, you want to tell me people actually want yet another episode about Peggy or with Peggy being a major character instead of Wanda, Loki or the main six avengers? No one does, not even the stans with a functioning brain. But Marvel will not stop, and whatever chokehold Hayley Atwell has on them will last until she’ll be satisfied with the colonization of all the possible marvel projects.
So ultimately, to answer your question: yes, I did notice Sam is being overshadow by a dusty side character that should have stayed dead back in 2016. You’re not alone, and I’m glad I’m not either. If you scroll on my profile you’ll soon find an old post of mine from last year, during the MoM era, where I was talking about this issue, and a Peggy stan went ballistic and on a rant on how I was using Sam as an excuse to hate on Peggy and justify Stucky. (Btw nice move altering the hashtags, I’ve done it too and it’s been a blessing for me.)

NYCC 2024: A (Redacted) Review
I had planned out NYCC months ago, back when they announced Hayley Atwell in the spring. Everything else in 2024 had the volume turned down after that announcement. And with time, they also announced some of the cast of Starship Troopers and then Rachael Leigh Cook.
I'm happy to say that everyone was wonderful, glowing even. Some maybe a little more than others but over all, this was by far the best year I had at a convention in terms of people just being... nice.
So foremost is that I overbooked myself. Five cast members from Starship Troopers was at the same table and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let that slip by. I had to go Thursday, as Dina Meyer ((see above)) was only there for one day only. She was an absolute sweetheart, despite trying to duck out to make her plane on time. I almost walked away before they called me back because I forgot to take this photo with her. "Give me some sass" is what I heard in my ear over the deafening crowd and ... well, its not my worst photo but certainly not my favorite either. But she has these huge, chonky glasses I wish she'd kept on for the photos.
Michael Ironside was incredible. I've been a fan of his for decades and despite having a voice like a gravel quarry and that constant sneer painted over his face, he was very funny and very warm. He noticeably perked up when I mentioned his performance in "Crime & Punishment In Suburbia" and how Roger Ebert said it was the best work of his career. He nodded in approval, "I'm glad someone saw that. The director is a a good friend of mine."
Casper Van Dien was ... actually exactly what I suspected. He was standing in front of his table, talking to everyone, pitching the new SST Extermination game. He's high energy, happy to see you, quick with a joke.
Unfortunately, I didn't get a lot of time with either Seth Gilliam or Denise Richards. Seth was on his way out but seemed to be overly kind with everyone there? Does that make sense? Denise was rushing to get out because she had some sort of socialite appointment elsewhere in NYC but she was trying so hard to be accommodating and patient with people. I think she was aware of what her legacy is with men of a certain age. I purposely didn't take too long at her table - it was 7 pm and everyone was tired - and I think she appreciated the fact I didn't make a bad pass at her or stop the line for 5 minutes to show her art I had done in the hopes she'd follow my Instagram (witnessed both of these things happen in real time).
Now on to the main event:
I didn't know what to expect from Hayley. I'd never met anyone who had interacted with her, so I was a little pensive at first. I had brought two photos for her to sign - the one above I had blown up to an egregious size - but it was the other one that rang her bell.
The person running the cashbox passed my photos down and said "Hayley we have some very nice photos from this gentle..."
"This is from Howard's End!" Her eyes popped, a mix of genuine surprise and appreciation behind them.
We talked a little bit about her Margaret Schlegel versus the 1992 movie. She asked me a couple of small questions before we really hit it off on something I wouldn't expect: I told her how I found a lot of American television too "active" and how much comfort I found in rewatching not only Howard's End but just UK television in general. She sized me up quietly before agreeing, telling me she watches the same handful of shows over and over to unwind, as a comfort.
She signed the Howard's End photo first (not pictured here, I've determined it is a little too personal), then the above photo before going back to the first photo with "May I add a quote to this?"
I was left with words in my mouth for a second. I managed to say "Please!" once my brain rebooted and she said "I loved this character so much. And this quote." After we said our goodbyes - she's so effusive, high energy - I quietly found a corner of the convention hall to see she'd written "Only Connect" under her name and I sighed like an old dog sleeping on a cold kitchen floor.
I later had a photo op with her. I look pretty stiff and not my best but I've taken worse photos. She was extremely gentle with everyone in line, I think getting a sense that most everyone was having the same "Holy shit, thats Hayley Atwell" realization.
Finally, and certainly not the least of all...
Rachael Leigh Cook came out an hour late, wearing a cream colored sweater and necklace. Laugh as you must, gentle reader, but I'm absolutely going to my therapist this week to ask why a stranger like herself is so completely nice to everyone (but especially: why is she nice to me). She's the type who touches people on the hand or arm as they talk - she hugged the couple in front of me when they mentioned their engagement - and she has this natural ... I honestly don't know what to call it - grace? vibe? spirit? ... that makes the cold hearth of my soul blaze like a Christmas fireplace. I don't mean to suggest theres any sort of connection, simply that she gives off a vibe of generosity and familiarity that I've only ever felt with old girlfriends.
I thanked her for her performance in Stateside, which made her eyebrows go up like a Tex Avery cartoon, and complimented her on getting her character's diagnosis so wonderfully right. She listened to me, stopped writing, listened some more, would write some more. I'd hate to think I somehow overwhelmed her - I am often told I don't "play my cards" despite my being afraid I'm overplaying them - but she was sincere and gentle, her voice this almost ASMR tone. We took a selfie (THAT photo looks awful, I need to learn to not only pose in photos but not to cock my head away from the other person) and later a photo op (Which looks better! But like the one with Hayley, I look rigid compared to her practiced grace) where she invited me into her hooked arm with a "Hey you, wow, sharp dresser!" and straightened the front of my shirt with a pinch.
And finally! Mystery solved?
This is an update for @justrachaelleighcook - this photo was taken at Cannes! She'd not seen Anna in some time and the press (or whoever was behind the camera) asked for a photo together! "I've never seen this photo but I remember taking it because Bookies was running out of competition". So that dates this photo as 2002? (She'd also not heard Anna had been unwell of late and regarded what little I said with a bit of a furrowed brow.)
Needless to say I wish I had more time to talk to her but I'm forever aware theres a line of people behind me hoping for some time as well.
It was an exhausting two days at NYCC. I probably spent 15 hours there and of that, more than 13 hours was standing in lines. Overall, it was one of the - if not THE - smoothest and more effortless visits to a convention I've ever had. If any of them come back around, I'd love to meet them again. <3

Heartstopper season 3 thoughts
Overall: I really liked this season. It was a good balance between heavy shit and teens having fun. I think it's great that they are both real. It's what Geoff said as well: trauma shouldn't define anyway, but it also isn't just gone.
I was also surprised HOW MUCH this season covered. It covered all of book 4 AND 5 of Heartstopper. I admit that I think it may have been too much, as in, at the end it's almost hard to believe that the beginning is in the same season. That being said, I think they did a great job with covering a lot of the source material without it feeling too rushed (like with the Percy Jackson show). It is quite a feat to push the two books + new storylines for Tara, Darcy, Elle, Tao, Isaac, Imogen and Sahar in 4 hours. It IS clear that they get lesser screentime, and a lot happens off-screen, like Darcy's gender journey and Imogen and Sahar becoming closer, but it is what it is and I think it worked with the constraints. This does make me wish for longer seasons. This isn't a Heartstopper-only problem. This is a current-series-trend problem.
Then there's MICHAEL HOLDEN TIME. I kept going "When is it Michael Holden time?" and it WAS MICHAEL HOLDEN TIME. I do think that they maybe leaned a bit too hard on the comic relief side of Michael, but alas, most of his depth is from Solitaire and they skipped over that and I think he'll play a bigger role in season 4. Anyway. Jesus is here.
The only thing that bothered me- and I know this wasn't their fault- was the lack of Olivia Coleman. And I'm not necessarily talking about the Menorca storyline, but they just straight up ignored Sarah. It wasn't until episode 8 where they had the "oh shit, your mum is home" moment that she was even acknowledged. As in, a lot of important moments for Nick happened, but there wasn't even an implication that he talked to her about it off-screen. Maybe Nick could've mentioned her, as in, "Yeah, my mum said this" or "I talked with my mum about Charlie" or even "Mum asked if we have safe sex, so embarrasing!"
(Which, in hindsight, made the decision to move the Spring-Nelson dinner to last season so much better.)
OKAY, under the cut for my thoughts for each episode lol
1. Love
This episode is very much almost word-to-word the same as the comics and I ADORE it. That made the fact that they had Charlie denying that he has an eating disorder very powerful and it added a new interesting dynamic. On the other hand, the fact that Elle talking about trans people in Egypt and her heritage got deleted, was a bit sad. Luckily, Elle had other stuff to do. Tao and Elle were also great in this episode and I'm glad they keep the Tao thing going, since his fear of abandonment runs deep.
Tara and Darcy also got something new and I like the open communication. I'm glad to see Darcy growing in that regard. They are open to hear Tara's feelings.
And the part where Isaac came out was great, especially the part of the vocab session. I definitely relate to that. And I actually liked that even Charlie admitted to not knowing what aromanticism was, since yeah, that is very realistic. Even other queers sometimes don't know.
Also the I love you recreation is 10/10.
2. Home
Of course, Olivia Coleman isn't here. That is the big thing of this episode. I think they managed to fit aunt Diane in perfectly and Hayley Atwell did a great job. I also like that they made her a psychiatrist, so instead of Nick and Sarah looking up stuff at home, Nick gets advice from Diane directly. I think that was a smart choice.
Also: GET FUCKED DAVID. That's what I kept saying during this episode. I was so afraid David would just pop in, but no. I mean, unfortunately, this also meant that the line of David's girlfriend joining them on vacation is no longer applicable, but I think there is a valid reason for David to not go if it's only Nick and his cousins. And maybe David would have been included in Oliva Coleman were here. Sarah calling her son out would feel more appropriate than Diane calling out her nephew.
Speaking of mums, this is also the moment where Jane fights with Charlie. I am a bit sad they took Julio out, but Tori was still there to undermine her. It's also a good choice to then use that fight as an excuse as to why Charlie skips dinner. "It's not the food thing, it's mum!" Oh honey. They also upped Tori's role in the storyline, which I appreciate, and as I said, since Charlie denied his disorder before, him admitting to it in this ep felt extremely powerful.
Luckily, others have great guardians. DARCY'S GRAN IS BEST GRAN EVER. I liked that there was a moment of shock when she found out Darcy is a lesbian, but she immediately accepted it. It's what Darcy needed.
Tao also got more stuff about his dad. The camera ended up playing a huge role in the season and I'm glad Tao got to express his interests as well.
Isaac feeling left out also felt like a big relatable thing. I don't even have many couples in the friend group, but it is something I am afraid of. And because of it, I like that he is the one who reached out to Charlie, since in the comics, Aled is also one of the characters who seeks him out.
3. Talk
Tara's storyline continues. I get some Frances Janvier vibes of her. Everyone thinks they're encouraging her: her teachers, Darcy, her friends, her mum... but it only builds insane pressure.
The teachers are also officially dating and we all collectively lost it when COACH SINGH jump-scared them. I mean, yeah, they're still kissing in a car with windows.
I like the addition of the zoo, since it makes perfect sense for Charlie to sink thoughts into something for Nick in order to distract himself. I also like how the Paris Squad are genuinely friends, even outside of school. Tao was a dick and I'm glad everyone made it clear to him that he was the problem, not Isaac. When Elle said that Tao was mad at Charlie for the same thing... ROASTED.
And then Isaac came out and it was very well-done. I know Alice's own experiences with being aroace underlines Isaac's: Isaac needs to rethink who he was and what he wants and what future he'll get and that's scary. I particulary like that Nick said it's understandable to be scared. A lot of coming out stories focus on "how nothing changes, I'm still me", and that latter is true, but it IS a change and that can be scary. We also all lost it when Nick said he cried at the Am I Gay quiz.
4. Journey
And to top it all off, James is here. I kept wondering if James were coming back and I like that HE is the one who asked Isaac whether he's aro and Isaac's smile!!! We all yelled to the screen like "ISAAC DESERVED THIS!!!"
The talk was another 10/10 recreation.
Ah. The big one. The time jump. I like how they showed it from both Charlie and Nick's point of view. It clearly impacts the both of them in a different way.
A lot of side stuff also happens: Darcy cutting their hair, LADS LADS LADS, the Halloween party... honestly this ep was wild. (Also, lol, Shrek and Fiona costumes).
I particulary liked Charlie's POV. I liked meeting Susan and Geoff, and I noticed that Charlie's dialogue added that his family was able to afford inpatient care. Also, in the comics, Charlie seems way calmer about his diagnosis, but I think it fits him better that it stresses him out. AND Tao! I liked Tao's role in this ep, especially with his movie.
Which, by the way, we lost it at the sequence with the teachers. "Hi Charlie..... Bye Charlie....."
5. Winter
This Winter is always a book that I appreciate for its existence, but don't particulary like reading. Yet I think it was a great choice to adapt it, despite a lot of casual comics fans not reading it, because it does add a lot. It shows how it is for a person to deal with the outcomes of everything, and how insensitive people can be, albeit unintentional.
And it brought OLIVER. God, I missed him. I know why he isn't a Spring sibling, but still. Rip to Tori, Charlie and Oliver's actual third cousin Esther, but OLIVER.
We were also waiting for the introduction of Henry and it paid off! WE LOVE HENRY.
I also liked that they added Doctor Who. I found it so funny to hear 10 yelling "Donnnaaaaaaa!!!!" in the background.
And to my surprise, David was here. I know he's in This Winter, but since he wasn't in Menorca (GET FUCKED DAVID) I expected him to just not be here. He didn't sexually harass Tori, but he was definitely an ass about Charlie's illness. Yet, I find it very interesting that the show manages to sympathise with him. I think this is a strenght, same with last season. The "Call me when you get to Edinburgh." ".... Glasgow." line stayed with me for weeks. Same with how desperately I wanted Ben to enter the queer exhibition in last season. You don't have to like David, and I won't (GET FUCKED DAVID), but I think it's a smart choice to even show that the series' antagonists are human.
Trans sex is also an important storyline and I am glad they added it. I was already very 👀 when the trailer alluded to it, since it is so important to show this. I'm also glad Elle had Naomi to talk about it, although we were a bit confused to see Naomi and Felix at Harry's party. Well, we love to see growth, even from Harry Greene.
And of course, MICHAEL HOLDEN TIME. I was wondering how they were going to introduce him, since Solitaire got skipped over.
6. Body
Ah yes, the aftermath. I really appreciated how this show shows that trauma has a lasting impact. This episode has the famous Solitaire relapse, where Nick and Charlie fight. They glossed over it, but alas, they also skipped all of Solitaire. In the comics, Solitaire still happened, but it just relegated to a background thing. Here it just didn't happen, I guess, since Tori and Michael met at Harry's party and they still attend Higgs. I did like Michael's cat gift scene. I had a moment of "fuck yeah, that's him, that's Michael Holden!" MEOW.
Then there's Jack Maddox. He's just here. It's obviously just so that they could cast Jonathan Bailey. I am not mad about it. I didn't like the original side-comic, but this didn't really go into the jealousy part.
This episode also starts the sex storyline and the body image storyline. Charlie has an ED, his body is a sore spot, especially since he has scars. I think it's a strong choice to show his scars, and I know Alice has written about it when this part happened in the comic. It can be triggering, but I also agree that you cannot brush it off. And as Geoff said, the scars don't make Charlie ugly. I don't think Charlie has to love them, which is sometimes an approach that I see. But here there's no pressure to love and accept them. But they're there and that is fine too.
It's also cool to see how Charlie in turn uses what he's learnt for himself to help Tara.
Also, this is the episode where I got reminded that they upped the rating. Not because of the sex talk, but also because of all the alcohol and the return of the word "fuck".
Lastly, there is the interview storyline. That was rough. I had a hunch that it was going to go this way. I'm not sure if I am the person to judge whether it was good, but I think it is good to show awareness towards transphobic media. And if anything, I hope it helps people to see how incredibly supportive Elle's parents are.
7. Together
It's the horny episode. Ngl, as an sex-repulsed aroace... I don't have a lot to say. They have sex. Okay. Sure.
Tara and Nick's friendship deepens, though, and I really like that. I think Tara is also a fitting replacement for Sarah in the car scene, since it was less focused on comedy and more on the actual conversation about sexuality. I'm also glad we got to see Tara dance and Darcy be supportive. Their gender identity has mostly been a background thing, so I am glad they got at least this scene where they could talk a bit more about their journey. Tara and Darcy grew a lot when it came to communication and co-dependence.
That is also a thing for Nick and Charlie. Nick's storyline is now all about being his own person. I remember Alice being excited to delve into it when the comics were happening, because yes, of course Charlie's stuff impacts him deeply, but how is Nick?
And lastly, there was the big fight with Jane and Charlie. Jane's past is less in depth. In the comic, it's revealed she was hit by her mother and it's implied it happened regularly. I suppose this season already had too much heavy stuff and a storyline like that deserves more respect and attention, but its exclusion did surprise me a little.
Other little things: Sahar is still at Higgs. I didn't remember that, but it's true that Sahar didn't mention her transfer at the beach, like in the comic. Then there's the scene with little Farouk. I was afraid they had cut it, since in the comic, Farouk is the one who tells Charlie to apply, not Ayaji. But luckily it was still there, and now Ayaji was there to support him. Tao is also a great boyfriend and I have forgiven him of his season 1 crimes. Nick telling David to fuck off was great.
8. Apart
Sarah exists! Hooray!
Anyway, this is the big finale, which includes the uni tour ft. Imogen. I was a bit surprised about it, since the uni tour is such a big thing in the comics and I didn't expect them to manage to push it in one episode. It worked.
I'm glad Imogen got her moment to express her feelings. Again, the whole Imogen and Sahar thing was pushed to the back and slighly rushed. Maybe it will be expanded in season 4.
Also, lil nitpick, but the bandmembers of Queer Intentions do not look like their comic counterparts oops. I wish we had at least gotten their names.
I'm also glad that Charlie realising he needs more people. Again, the co-dependence got a big role and I'm glad both Nick and Charlie (and Tara and Darcy) work on it.
Then there's the big Tori ferris wheel scene. It did not go as planned. I am not gonna lie, it took me by big surprise that Tori didn't come out as asexual, but that being said, I do think it is the better choice to flesh it out in a later season. Since Solitaire didn't happen, the entire storyline of Tori and Michael needs to be reconfigured within the show's canon. I get why people were disappointed, but the scene would only make sense to comic readers and Solitaire readers. To viewers, it would come too out of nowhere and someone mentioned that it might come off as a "tick boxes for diversity" moment. Look, I know Tori is Alice's firstborn and no way in hell would Alice allow Tori to be that, but I have also been an avid Osemanverse fan since 2017. Not only that, but the show being different from the books/comics allows for an alternative Sprolden thing. I know Alice has expressed before that she sometimes regrets turing them in a romantic relationship. She doesn't hate it and has grown to like Sprolden, but back when it was being written it felt like it had to end this way, cause comphet.
I am not saying that they will not date in the series, I am just saying it is possible. There was also Isaac's Look(TM), which excites me a lot for this possible story. I cannot wait for Isaac and Tori to work this out together, and also to possibly go deeper into Michael's pansexuality. And yeah, maybe they won't date and it'll be more of a QPR situation. THIS IS HOW MISTER CAN STILL WIN IN 2024 #MISTER #MICHAELANDLISTER4EVA!!
One small thing: Tao being chill with long distance felt kind of... out of character? I assume Tao is just hiding his stress and disappointment about it.
And yeah, then Nick and Charlie had sex and they felt comfortable. Hoorah. I think it is a good way to end the series. In the comics, they talk about the uni tour afterwards, but this felt fitting for an ending. They can move the Leeds and long distance thing to the next season.

Patrick Stewart Calls Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Filming 'Frustrating and Disappointing' - IGN

Professor X actor Patrick Stewart has called his experience filming for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness "frustrating and disappointing", though may still return to the character for the upcoming Deadpool 3.
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Stewart was asked to confirm if he, like some other actors filming for the Marvel Cinematic Universe entry, were actually interacting with their colleagues or just playing the part solo.
"It was alone," Stewart said, shaking his head. "I think the big scene, each one of the leading actors had the same experience. They were shot on their own. It was a frustrating and disappointing but that's how it has been. The last few years have been challenging."
The "big scene" Stewart references saw Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange appeal to the Illuminati for help, which in this multiverse was made up from the likes of Stewart's Professor X, John Krasinski's Mr Fantastic, Lashana Lynch's Captain Marvel, Hayley Atwell's Captain Britain, and more. Each member of the Illuminati was then cut down by a savage Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen.
Despite the poor experience, Stewart admitted conversations were happening surrounding Deadpool 3, the upcoming Marvel entry starring Ryan Reynold's Deadpool, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, and seemingly a lot more of the characters from the X-Men films.
Stewart was first asked if he knew how many times Professor X had died in his eight film appearances before laughing at the answer: four, meaning a 50% death rate. "I don't know [what that implies]," he laughed. "But I do now have every confidence that he's still around."
Deadpool himself wasn't around for the Mutant Massacre crossover, but it's a story that would make for good fodder for the next movie. In this story, the X-Men join forces with several other Marvel heroes to prevent Mister Sinister's mercenary squad the Marauders from slaughtering the sewer-dwelling Morlocks. It's a conflict that would pair well with Wade's habit of protecting mutant underdogs. Given how Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Apocalypse have both teased the arrival of Sinister, it's about time we see this twisted geneticist pop up somewhere in the X-Men cinematic universe.
The first storyline on Deadpool's relaunched 2012 comic started the series off on a bizarre note, as Wade had to deal with the reanimated corpses of America's past presidents, not to mention the pesky ghost of Benjamin Franklin. Somehow, the franchise just doesn't seem complete until we get to see Deadpool and Abraham Lincoln go head-to-head in the boxing ring.
When neither Cable nor Deadpool's comics were selling particularly well in the early 2000s, Marvel combined them together and instantly reinvigorated both characters. The opening storyline in Cable & Deadpool set a strong example for the series, pitting the two unlikely friends against one another over possession of a virus that can remake the physical appearance of anyone exposed to it. If Cable is going to stick around this franchise, there are far worse places to look for inspiration.
Deadpool 2 featured a tease for "M-Day," a disastrous event in Marvel's comics where Scarlet Witch all but wiped out the mutant race. Why not lean into that tease and give us a full-blown adaptation of House of M, the story that culminated in M-Day? The bulk of this story explores an alternate reality where Magneto and his family reign supreme. We'd like to see how Deadpool fares in a world like that. That's not to mention the long-term consequences House of M could have on the larger X-Men universe..."
BIG MISTAKE. HUGE, COS.
Why? Because I discovered months ago that the entire Star Trek franchise has been under the thumb of the Cult of Scientology for years. Not sure about the original, but for those who don't know, it had some very subtle Queering, so I'm pretty sure they wanted to fully queer Kirk and Spock in the reboots, but ended up just doing a side character. David Birkin, having not one, but two appearances, playing Captain Picard as a child.
Bryan Singer, a known Pedo and serial assaulter, remaining attached to the X Men franchise for years (and they are linked)
Majority of the actors being British, where Scientology and it's Satanic roots come from
Ian McKellen joined in promoting the actress, Ellen Page, as Transgender
IGN, a COS partner, actively engaged in harassment of Benedict Cumberbatch, through negative articles and by repeatedly tweeting a short video, detailing one of the most traumatic events in his life (the kidnapping in Africa)
A character in Strange New Worlds (note, the piggybacking of his mcu character) La'an Noonien Singh, who it seems 'whined' about being bullied because of her 'infamous' last name. Pre-Programming. If they bullied the actor once, they did it a 100,000 times on social media, because of his name
One of the Strange New Worlds writers, also wrote the last project that Tom Holland did, which gave him so much trauma, he decided to take a year off, for which the Cult tried to threaten him using social media

Let me make it plain, so that there's no mistake about this, because our group IS privy to info, sometimes and so far, it's usually correct. Elizabeth Olsen wasn't just acting as a meme thirsty actress on DS2. She acted as a SPY for Disney competitors. Now, if any of the COS partners, like Universal or WB want a piece of that chick, they can go ahead.
And ALL THIS, I actually just kept to myself, specifically out of respect for SIR Patrick Stewart. I should know better and if Hollywood doesn't stop pushing these actors to do and say stupid shit in public, they won't have anyone left, worth having any respect for. Good God, he even uses the same narrative that Olsen used during DS2 promotions, where she complained about the Green Screen. What's so ironic is that for an actor to show they can stay in character and work, using a Green Screen is to show real skill in your craft. These two say they can't hack it.
Deeply disappointed in this man.

The Mosley Review: Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One
In the right hands, a franchise can go on forever. In the right hands, a franchise can grow to be more and more inventive and thrilling with each new story. This franchise has only had one misstep in its 27 year life span on the big screen and it has continued to impress me ever since. Not many can stay as consistently exciting, refreshing and somewhat terrifying as these films have consistently become. To think its been 5 years since M:I Fallout and I thought it couldn't get any better than that. These films have covered many standard tropes of betrayal, moles in the agency, a biological weapon, a mysteriously dangerous item, nuclear bombs and even the ever present Syndicate. They've all been handled in a fun and exciting way and this films handles something that is topical and so recent, that even though it may be fantastical at times, it still was terrifying. The break neck speed the film moves at was fun and I loved the visual call backs to the old school use of the Dutch tilt angle. There were one or two moments of cheese, but it is short lived. This film felt more unpredictable than the rest and way more personal as each character that has been with the series so far is in some form of danger.
Tom Cruise is still one of best actors and action stars alive today. He truly is the blueprint of how to sell ever hit, crash and emotional beat. As Ethan Hunt this time around, he continues to give the character such depth and strength. I loved that we finally get a glimpse into his past and a look into how and why he joined the IMF. The amount of pressure and love he carries for his team is on full display in a way I haven't seen since the third film. Ving Rhames returns as the one and only Luther Stickell and I loved seeing him back at the keyboard. The chemistry between him and Ethan has never stopped being a staple of the franchise and it continues here as he gives him words of wisdom and warning. Simon Pegg was fantastic and loveable again as Benji Dunn and his constant worry is always fun as he gets more into the action this time. Seeing Luther and Benji team up was a dream come true and I loved the back and forth between them on who's the better hacker. . Rebecca Ferguson returns as Ilsa Faust and she is deadlier than ever before. I almost was frustrated with her character because of her constantly finding herself mixed up in some form of international danger. She wasn't a damsel at all, but at some point I would've hoped she found a new quieter line of work. Hayley Atwell was a fun and quirky addition to the franchise as Grace. She has that wicked sense of charm and cunning as she ends up being one of the most slippery characters that you love to watch. The cat and mouse game between her and Ethan was really fun. She quickly realizes how far she is in over her head and the constant state of panic she is in for the majority of the film was hilarious at times. Shea Whigham and Greg Tarzan Davis were fun as the task force partners, Jasper Briggs and Degas, that vigorously hunt Ethan throughout the film. Cary Elwes was fun and a bit slimy as the Director of National Intelligence Denlinger. It was wonderful to see Henry Czerny return as Eugene Kittridge from the first film. I always enjoyed the tension between him and Ethan and in this film you get to the route of it.
The villains have always been a staple of the franchise and they continue to be interesting. Vanessa Kirby and Frederick Schmidt return as Alanna and Zola Mitsopolis. Vanessa delivers yet again that perfect balance of beauty, sinister brilliance and strength. I liked that Alanna felt like she entered a deal that posed a major threat. Zola was more fun this time around as he got to be apart of the business deals instead of just muscle. Pom Klementieff was terrifying and relentless as the French assassin Paris. Her viscous physicality was impressive and awesome to witness. I want to see more of her in the future. Esai Morales was awesome as the main antagonist Gabriel. He had a sort of religious zealotry to his motivation in the film. I loved that he was the direct link to Ethan and their rivalry runs deep. His calm demeanor was creepy and intense with every smirk. He might shape up to be one of the greatest villains this series has ever seen.
Composer Lorne Balfe returns and brings back some familiar themes established in M:I Fallout. This time around it is more thunderous and yet emotionally driven. From the beginning to the end the score gets your blood pumping as it becomes part of the driving force of each action scene. The Mission theme kicks in at the most epic and fun moments. The action has always delivered in this franchise and it has gone to a new level of thrilling. I've always appreciated the use of practical action set pieces and this film continues to ramp up the inventive and death defying nature of the stunts. Of course the mountain ridge jump is the stand out of the film, but my favorite was the train sequence. The use of minimal CGI is always appreciated and it was used perfectly to supplement the action. My expectations when it comes to the Mission: Impossible films is always high because of how consistently well crafted they have been. Director Christopher McQuarrie has directed yet another amazing entry in the series and I truly can't wait to see Dead Reckoning Part Two. There are new reports that Sophie Turner is slated to play in a new series of Tomb Raider as the legendary Lara Croft. According to Deadline, the creator of Fleabag, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, is to adapt the action video game into a live-action version, and the star of Game of Thrones is on board. The news indicates that Turner is in talks to lead the show, just last month, it was rumored that she is in a race to land the role with Lucy Boynton, who stars in Bohemian Rhapsody. This project is a significant priority for Amazon, being its first collaboration with Waller-Bridge since the writer and actress joined the company in 2019 on a reportedly $20 million per year deal. Speaking about this exciting project that was announced, Jennifer Salke head of Amazon Studios said:. "When we look at a long-term commitment to a creator like Phoebe – we're so happy now that we retained her because she's obsessed with and grew up playing Lara Croft/Tomb Raider," Salke shared. "So the fact that she's the creator and bringing this character to life, we think it's going to be a huge franchise for us." "What if I could take the reins of an action franchise, with everything I've learned, with a character I love, and also just bring back some of that 90s vibe? " Waller-Bridge also hinted that the series would bring something "dangerous and exciting" to the table, making the project even more appealing to fans of action-packed adventure. The actress has portrayed the character of Lara Croft twice in the past, Angelina Jolie, and now 2018 sees Alicia Vikander in a reboot. More recently than this is Hayley Atwell's voice in the Netflix animated take, but this live-action version seems poised to be forward-moving onto new paths which the debonair archaeologist adventurer will be embarking on in this incarnation. Turner is best known for playing Sansa Stark in the fantasy series Game of Thrones. She has kept busy with appearances in the X-Men franchise as the character Jean Grey and the crime drama The Staircase starring Colin Firth. She was last seen in the lead of ITV drama Joan, based on the true story of Joan Hannington, and next set to appear in the thriller Haven, described as a heist film with plenty of suspense. Slight revamp info below! Definitely worth a read for some updated info about the Journals!
So, in my effort to come back to this blog, I wanted to spruce some more basic details up.
First, names.
As it stood, journals 1, 2, and 3 were named Eva, Levy, and Judith, respectively. While I stand by Eva and Judith, Levy was definitely a product of who I was when I first named her. In an effort to stick with the theme of her sisters, I have decided to go with Lilith. But, she may often be referred to as Lith, as I know there is likely a large overlap between GF fans and HH/HB fans. It also just fits the vibe of her going against the grain.
Next, faceclaims.
Previously the lineup had been Hayley Atwell, Mary Winstead, and Raffey Cassidy, the latter changed shortly before my hiatus. I still like Hayley and Mary for Eva and Lith, but Abby Ryder Fortson is a much better fit for Judith.
Finally, overall character portrayal.
This is more or less going to be a section of info about each journal, and where I could see them if we are imagining a "next summer" scenario.
Eva
As journal number one and the assumed eldest, Eva is a protector, though her intentions may not be quite right. She has a heavy allegiance to Ford, her author, and Stan, the brother she was stuck with for several decades. While she still plays a maternal/nurturing role to the twins and Judith, her dedication to the brothers can blind her. In a high stress situation, her first instinct would be to protect Ford and Stan, everyone else is secondary. She is eloquent and charming, speaking with a "proper" English accent; a characteristic she earned by reruns of stuffy British films and shows with Stan. She is neat and orderly, with a penchant for alphabetical organization. She also has a shorter fuse than her sisters, with a more physical approach to fighting. Coming from early on in Ford's stay in Gravity Falls, her knowledge of the oddities in town are surface level. She is only the first few chapters of a much longer story, after all.
Following the end of the summer, she went with the brothers. She stays back most of the time, content to watch them reacquaint themselves and journaling her own experiences. However, she will play mediator between them in arguments. She understands both of their intentions well and can easily play the advocate for either.
Lith
Journal two and the textbook middle sibling, Lilith goes against the grain on purpose, ruffling feathers wherever and whenever she can. While she views Ford as her creator, she has very little care for this fact. He has just as much of a claim to her as Gideon Gleeful, and she'd punt him across the Pacific if given the chance. Written at the peak of his relationship with Bill, Lith is more attuned to the weird and dangerous side of town. She has no ties to anyone in town, and does her best to not follow the chaotic call of Bill Cipher, though somedays, things seem a little too normal. As an unfortunate side effect of spending time around Gideon, Lilith speaks with a southern drawl, putting sugar on her sour words. She is cunning and manipulative, completely capable ripping Gravity Falls apart without a Triangle on her side. She doesn't fight physically unless the situation calls for it. But she is not above finding out your biggest flaw and digging in.
After summer ends, she leaves town, traveling along the Pacific coast. Most women her age wouldn't dare hitchhike along the west coast, the dangers being too great. But the few who have tried to pull anything on her were quick to learn she was far more dangerous.
Judith
The third journal and final sister, Judith is clearly the youngest of the bunch. While the others formed as adult women, she manifested as a girl of about 13; the same age as Dipper and Mabel Pines were the summer they uncovered Journal 3 from Ford's hiding place. While she adopted a keen sense of adventure and some frightening resilience, she is often plagued with paranoia; a shrill, hauntingly familiar voice nagging at the back of her mind. He's always there. To block it out, she's always trying to learn. Whether that is a habit rubbed off on her by Dipper, or of her own merit has yet to be decided. Judith is easily the most loyal among the three, though her loyalty has limits. Her trust has limits. Unlike Eva and Lith, Judith views Ford less as a contemporary, and more as a father. While she yearns for this connection, she feels a sense of duty to stay away and give him time with his brother. When it comes to fighting, it takes a lot to get Judith to fight back. Her most common technique is running away. She is afraid of what she's capable of if she doesn't.
While Eva and Lith leave at the end of summer, Judith stays in Gravity Falls, moving into the attic room and attending school. She gets regular correspondence from her sisters, but it leaves much to be desired. She appreciates the company of Soos and Melody, however, and does what she can around the shack. And one day, while she was cleaning up, she found a strange book she had never seen before. A book with a very familiar symbol on the cover. A book that called to her. The Book of Bill.

Kk, so…why do people hate Sharon? And why do Sharon folks hate Peggy? That’s literally all I see in the Sharon tag. Also, a friend told me Hayley Atwell is not a great person?? I just don’t get it, what happened and what did everybody do? Only been in the fandom since endgame, so I’m sure I missed something and you seem like you’ve been a here a while? (And actually, after thinking about it, you may not want to rehash whatever it is, so feel free to skip this). They’re just…literally great aunt and niece and I don’t get why people are at each other’s throats (on both ends, unfortunately…)

Why do people hate Sharon?
I can’t speak for them. I honestly don’t know why. One guess is that lots of folks jumped on the hate train is when they thought that Bucky and Sharon would get together when there was absolutely nothing that even remotely hinted that. Beyond that, I can’t tell you because I have no idea. I know some dislike her because of her lack of screentime has made her rather bland and there’s not much to cling onto and her actions in TFAWS have been rather confusing.
Sharon folks hate Peggy?
From what all I know - ship reasons. Mostly it’s comic stans who dislike Peggy because in the comics Sharon and Steve are together. Most from what I’ve seen, they dislike Peggy because she ‘stole all of Sharon’s achievements/characteristics’ when Peggy literally has done absolutely nothing but exist in MCU.
Hayley Atwell hate.
It all started with a tumblr post that made up and exaggerated things about Hayley, no on fact checked it and it spiraled out of there with things and statements taken 100% out of context and websites like comicsbook and others like it just drive that hatred up. Another reason folks want to hate on Hayley is simply for ship reasons and how Endgame played out, so they try to justify their hate by creating lies about Hayley and/or Peggy so they can make themselves feel better.
She, as far as I know where there is legit proof, has done nothing wrong that deserves this level of hatred. People just want their own faves to have the screentime and get off on hating on other people’s faves. Because their first response to a character they hate is to start attacking on other’s happiness means they’re a bunch of miserable sacks.

Movie Review | Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (McQuarrie, 2023)
I view these movies mostly as set piece machines*, and there are number of pretty fun ones here, including a surveillance-assisted foot chase through an airport, a car chase where characters are handcuffed together that may or may not be an extended women drivers joke, a dangerous looking skydiving stunt that's unfortunately been spoiled by the promotional materials, a vertical climb through some falling train cars. I don't think any of these are quite as good as the helicopter climax from the sixth movie or the Burj Khalifa wall climb from the fourth movie, and the special effects seemed more obvious this time than in previous entries, but there is a fundamental sturdiness here, of intricate setups** and complication-prone execution, depicted with cleanness and assurance. Christopher McQuarrie in his earlier directorial efforts struck me as someone who gets the nuts and bolts of good action sequences, and he's turned out to be a good match for the complex, large scale set pieces that define this series. There is something a little breathtaking about the way he lets the camera just observe a truly formidable stunt, especially if you see it on the biggest screen you can. I am not in love with the runtime, especially as it's only first half of this particular story, but all in all I had quite a good time. I am less moved when these movies try to make me care about the hero's emotions, but whatever, I like seeing Tom Cruise onscreen.
Like with Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise has finally started to show his age, even if his refusal to have done so for so many years seemingly through willpower (and whatever sinister scientific advances a man of his means has access to) seems part of his characters in both series. This movie somewhat softens the blow by casting him alongside a bunch of actors whose age is more obvious, like Henry Czerny, the king playing of untrustworthy bureacrats***; silver fox Esai Morales, who as big a laugh out of me with a weird line reading as any of the actual jokes; Cary Elwes, who gives Czerny competition in the untrustworthy bureacrat department; and Shea Wigham, who brings some real "too old for this shit" Danny Glover energy. I guess Ving Rhames is old too, but he's looked exactly the same since the mid-90s so he doesn't count. In any case, it's always nice to see him and his little pork pie hat, and Simon Pegg doing his thing, and I guess they got rid of Jeremy Renner, and I wish there was more Rebecca Ferguson, who's been a highlight of the series since she was introduced as a deviously sexy assassin in the fifth movie, devious because one cannot be all that good at spycraft without a bit of cunning. As far as new cast members go, Hayley Atwell turns out to be a great addition, with whom Cruise has more chemistry than he's had with any female co-star in... a while.
Like Maverick, this is a throwback in pretty overt ways, taking the affect of Cold War geopolitics (Russian submarines, CIA shenanigans) and stripping them of overt jingoism. The enemy this time around is an AI, which many of the parties involved foolishly believe they can control but Cruise and friends know better.**** Blockbusters certainly have had technophobic worldviews in the past (you can go back to at least Terminator 2, which used state of the art special effects to warn of the dangers of misusing technology, and lots of other examples I'm too lazy to think up), but as Cruise is one of the last remaining stars on whose name a movie can be sold, and the recent push by studios to use AI to replace the creatives in the creative process, there is a certain potency in the material. And given that Cruise's movies are now about him as a star as about whatever their plots consist of, certain elements, particularly the handling of the female characters, is certainly interesting in light of his offscreen exploits. In fact, in that scene where's he's handcuffed to Hayley Atwell as they're being chased by more and more pursuers, you could argue that the pursuers represent the paparazzi hounding him for sordid details about his personal life or just the outside world poking their noses into the Church of Scientology's affairs and that Atwell represents the real life wife with whom he's very much in a Real Loving Marriage with and who totally doesn't want to run away and... Okay, okay, I'll stop now.
*I hold that the second movie, often cited as the series' worst, is actually pretty good, while the better liked third movie is definitely the worst (and the only bad movie in the series) for the simple reason that John Woo is good at directing action and J.J. Abrams is not.
**The movie often flirts with self-parody in its expository scenes, the camera whipping about, cutting quickly as either Ving Rhames or Simon Pegg explain all the details, the former with glee, the latter with worry. There's even a good fakeout where Hayley Atwell imagines her future as an IMF agent and the improbably plan she has to help execute. If you're gonna dump a lot of info on the audience, you might as well have fun doing it.
***Czerny got some of the biggest laughs in my screening when he explained what IMF stood for.

Your character would have been born in Merrock and held a ‘clean’ image - not a troubled youth, well liked, etc. Possibly an only child. They married Tommy very early 20s and stayed married for at least 10 years. Their marriage was 'us against the world’ mentality - she could see the way his parents manipulated him and how he didn’t like the world he lived in, she was often protective of him. During this time they were unsuccessful at having children which created some cracks in the marriage. Tommy’s drinking and eventual breakdown hurried their problems along until divorce was the ultimate answer. This didn’t mean they didn’t love each other, they just couldn’t be together whilst Tommy was so self destructive.
She left Merrock for her own journey and would come back to visit for weekends/holidays to see her parents, friends, and sometimes just Tommy. Tommy started to get better a few years after their divorce, no longer having long benders and seeing a therapist. During these years the pair would reconnect, sometimes having a whole weekend just wrapped in each other like old times. Until she fell for someone else and she had less reason to come back to Merrock, a bittersweet ending.
She’s only now returned to Merrock permanently, whether to simply return home or because something brought her here. Tommy cares for her still, he feels guilty for the pain he put her through and would be there to support where he could. He has changed a lot since they first met, more himself and done with the image his parents pushed him into. This man may not be the one she loved, or it could be the one she had hoped he would have let her loved.

this is reminder of how bad this situation sucks, because the version that atwell 'imagined' and forced onto 'peggy' as a pseudocanon isn't supposed to exist. but it's an unfortunate reality that peggy has become such an empty shell, literally just existing as a 'self insert' for atwell, and no longer her own character
it sucks even more when her fans serve as a means to reinforce the version that atwell imagined as peggy.
where were the moments between peggy and sharon? the love her aunt was supposed to show for her, the encouragement, the support, the pride for how well her niece was doing, the blessing she would have given steve and her, supporting two people she cared for in full, happy to see them make each other happy?
where was the passing of the torch?
or was this another one of those things that HAYLEY's 'peggy' was far too conceited to do?
everything that followed in the story because of hayley pulling the strings of her fans like fucking puppets, is justifiably criticized. but it pales in comparison to the amount of real life harassment, real life bullying, real life hatred, and real life harm that she caused in turn.
and she didn't give a shit.
she didn't give a shit so much, she was PERFECTLY comfortable knowing her fans were playing with human lives, laughing at her 'jokes' and regurgitating the same shit that was all 'peggy's opinions, 'peggy's will to hold fucking LIVES in the balance, on the edge, and toy with the idea of others ENDING their own.
she KNEW, she HAD to have known, and yet she never uttered a fucking word about it, because she didn't want her fans to stop. DESPITE the bullying, DESPITE the harassment, DESPITE treating LIVES like they weren't worth shit.
and there is absolutely justifiable reasoning for people to hate a character attached to the face of an abuser. attached to the face of someone they know to have instigated so much harm, that may have even caused their own pain. all for the simple crime... of liking a FICTIONAL character and ship.
hayley's a monster. she knows what she did, because she did it with a purpose, her fans fucking delivered.
and disney keeps fucking rewarding her.

365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
May 3rd - Peggy Carter
Margaret ‘Peggy’ Carter traveled to Europe in the early phase of the Second World War and became a secret agent for the French Resistance. Codenamed ‘Agent 13,’ Carter worked under cover at a French café where it was arranged for her to meet with the US Serviceman, Steve Rogers (the civilian identity of Captain America). Although Carter was assigned to keep tabs on Captain America for the secret organization known as Daughters of Liberty, the two fell very much in love and maintained a romance throughout the war.
Agent Carter proved an invaluable ally to Captain America and The Invaders, accompanying them on various missions offering the services of her shrewd, tactical mind, keen marksmanship and valor in combat.
Carter was captured by the nazi forces during the closing months of the war. She was starved and tortured yet refused to give up any information to the enemy. She managed to escape but a head injury caused her temporary amnesia.
Having recovered from her amnesia, Peggy was heartbroken to learn of Captain America’s apparent death. Following the war, Carter worked for the American government until she was approached by Howard Stark to accompany him on a mission to The Soviet Union. The two embarked on a wild adventure involving extra terrestrials and the nazi splinter unit known as Hydra.
Carter would go on to work for SHIELD and a number of other governmental agency while also earning a medical doctorate. During this time, Peggy grew close with her niece, Sharon, who very much idolized her aunt. Sharon would go on to become a decorated agent at SHIELD.
Carter became a member of the Avengers support team, becoming close friends with Edwin Jarvis. She continued on at the post until finally retiring due to the gradual onset of age-related dementia. She passed away not long thereafter and her funeral was attended by scores of soldiers, secret agents and super heroes.
Carter was later revived and rejuvenated by way of the sentient Cosmic Cube known as Kobik. Young once more, Carter would go on to have numerous adventures alongside Cap and a number of other heroes, including Misty Knight, The Black Widow and The Winter Soldier.
In the parallel universe of Earth-86315, a slightly different version of Peggy Carter ended up becoming Captain America. In this universe, Steve Rogers and Dr. Erskine were assassinated by a nazi spy; and Howard Stark used the last remaining vial of Erskine’s super soldier serum to empower Carter. Combining the enhanced abilities bestowed by the serum with her keen tactical mind, Carter proved just as capable an iteration of Captain America as Rogers had in a different universe. Similar events also occurred in the Earth-TRN944 universe, except in this universe Carter grew up in England and was known as Captain Carter rather than Captain America.
A version of Peggy Carter has featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe where her character has been portrayed by actress Hayley Atwell. The heroine first appeared in the pages of Tales of Suspense #75 (1965).

Marvel Studios’ (and employees’) treatment of Emily VanCamp & Sharon Carter:
Going back from 2011: Hayley Atwell’s comments about playing Sharon herself. Comments become distinctly more negative when Sharon is announced as returning in Civil War and increased/continued until she filmed her Endgame scenes. (source, with plenty of details, though it’s incomplete)
Chris Evans treatment went from this in 2013 to this afterward.
The Russos lack of respect/appreciation for the character didn’t help Sharon become more popular. Though Markus & McFeely talked her up more, they, too, ultimately let her down (and made things worse for her by having Steve go back to Peggy, fueling the Uncle Steve jokes, despite in 2016 talking down the Steggy ship and saying “They kissed once on a moving car, with Tommy Lee Jones in the car. Not the sexiest situation you can have.”).
2016- Things escalated significantly after the kiss in Civil War, and the hatred was noticed to the point that an article came out addressing it and noting how the fans and the actress had received hatred. Sharon-positive events held by fans online were targeted by Sharon Carter hate blogs.
2017- The 10th Anniversary photo is taken. Emily VanCamp is the only actor there not currently in a Marvel project. They might have just had her there to have another face in the crowd. It’s significant that The Russos, Markus, McFeely, Kevin Feige, Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell were all in attendance. All of them knew what was going to happen, or at least had a good idea. Maybe they just had her there to add another person to the crowd, but as time would go by, it would feel more and more like they only had her there to mock her.
2018- Even in 2018, shipping was a critical part of the hatred Sharon and Emily received.
2019- Endgame premieres on April 24. Emily leaves the country May 6 after canceling an appearance to promote her show The Resident at a festival. She says in a later interview that she and her husband turned the trip into an impromptu honeymoon. The catch? She only went out of the country with her husband because he was already leaving the country - to film a movie. Which means she spent a chunk of her honeymoon alone.
In August, she’s announced as returning as Sharon Carter in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier - Kevin Feige first claims that Peggy Carter is returning before correcting himself. Though clearly only a slip, given how badly Sharon and Emily had been treated previously, a bit more effort would have been appreciated. Especially since it would not be the only time someone with Marvel got Sharon or Emily’s name wrong.
2021 - Piecing together interviews for F&WS, it appears they gave her the script to episode 3, used that to convince her Sharon would finally be treated better, and only told her about the Power Broker twist once she’d officially signed on. Malcolm Spellman told her he was excited to show her what they had in store for Sharon; she thought he meant the fight scenes. Zoie Nagelhout said that Sharon “was too weak to survive with her morality intact.” Kari Skogland said Sharon had “the face an angel and the heart of a devil.” This was particularly jarring since it 1) went against comic book canon for 50+ years and 2) Emily VanCamp spent the bulk of her time doing press in 2016 defending the kiss and talking about how much she loves Sharon’s integrity and strong moral compass.
In September, Marvel’s What If: Zombies episode premiered. Sharon got some good material, though there were complaints about how she was little more than a plot device. She was also killed gruesomely (both times) in ways that caused Sharon fans some concerns. First, she’s attacked and turned by Steve, then Hope shrinks and flies inside of her, growing to full size and blowing Sharon up from the inside. CBR actually called it the most brutal kill. A couple days later, the head writer, AC Bradley gave an interview where she talked about writer Matthew Chauncey’s original idea - having Steve bite Sharon’s lips off and spit them out. When Bradley expressed concern, she said Chauncey told her that Steve belonged to Peggy and nobody likes Sharon anyway. Bradley ultimately decided to downplay the violence because “Emily Vandercamp” is very sweet. Chauncey responded to a comment on his Insta saying that though he is a Steve/Peggy shipper, he loves Sharon. He has not yet responded to people who shared what AC Bradley said he said.
Where they went right: 1) Anthony Mackie is the only member in the cast prior to 2021 who said anything nice about Sharon without being prompted. There are reports RDJ and Don Cheadle were also kind to her on the Civil War press tour. 2) Fans got upset with Emily touching Lola, Coulson’s car, when she hosted Marvel: From Pulp to Pop in 2015. Clark Gregg, who plays Coulson, said she had clearance to do so; the anger quickly died down.
