please have you seen the movie yet i'm going insane and keep going back but also helpppp. if you've talked about it on another blog of yours i'll take that but i'm losing my mind reading reviews of people who don't seem to know even a spec of wonka lore

oh, my dear comrade... for you... i will endure it. i'll try to go see it christmas weekend.

#it looks Awful. based off aesthetics alone (gleaned from the trailer) i hate how they've let the whimsy of wonka himself leak out into the #atmosphere like a hole in an astronaut's suit.#like dressing every character (even the background ones) in fancy colorful slightly eccentric clothes #with no purpose beyond 'doesn't this look fun'.#the trailer and world feels so ungrounded. i love how the 71' characters--while exaggerated caricatures of certain attributes--appear and #feel real and lived in.#everything in this wonka movie looks like it was wrapped in new vibrant clothes like cheap presents or veneers.#i don't want veneers! i want braces! the charm of utility!#it looks so much like it's trying to replicate the feel of the show a series of unfortunate events.#but that is not the point or ambiance of wonka and his movie at all.#it's like they watched asout and then mary poppins and thought 'i can do that'#but don't get me wrong--i WILL have fun watching it. for better or worse.
