What do you think of how they're rebooting Rainbow High, and why do you suppose they're leaving Poppy out?

Most of what I've seen so far were those leaks about the girls having those slime/crystal pets (along with having "sparkly" faces now?) and uhhhh...

...yeaaaah dunno how to really feel tbh, esp after the strong doll lines we've had throughout the year (as conflicting story-wise as some of them were during the RainbowVision/Shadow High arc). Like we're gonna go from these really glamorous, intricately detailed Rainbow Divas, Storm Twins & Costume Ball ladies to... cutesy-wootsey glitter girls? .-. Idk, hopefully they'll look a bit better in-person or maybe even get some design tweaks before their final release (like they did for Krystal Bailey way back then), 'cause otherwise... ehhhh >>;;

And I don't even get the whole Poppy exclusion either cause like... what's a proper rainbow without orange, yknow? 🥺🌈Even if her character was sadly pushed more to the background as time went on, I still found Poppy a pretty cute & relatable character imo (with quite a unique aesthetic with her monarch butterfly/music-themed focus).

As for why I theorize they're cutting her out of the main line... honestly I'm not sure, I guess they might think some kids aren't so big on orange as a doll color (or prob just feel like they’d go more for “rainbow” aesthetics like Amaya’s vibe)? Idk, still seems rather silly in my opinion so either way, #JusticeForPoppy :/

💍 RING — does your oc have any piercings? do they want any (more) piercings?

Yess she’s got 2 earlobe piercings per ear, a nostril piercing, and snake bites. I’ve drawn her with nipple piercings once or twice but I haven’t decided if that’s her heart or not. I think if she did get them she’d take them out at soon as they healed out of Annoyance. As freaky as she is she is also pretty practical and doesn’t need more shit on her body like that. I think she’d probably enjoy more face/ear piercings tho since those are a little bit less obtrusive. Tongue or eyebrow Maybe. This is one reason among many as to why she cannot easily have a real science job </3

🩹 ADHESIVE BANDAGE — does your oc have any physical and/or mental disabilities?

She’s plenty physically-abled but if her mental health status counts as a disability then….Yknow. Bpd and depression central. Severe enough to interfere with most aspects of her life and it’s obvious to anyone who knows anything about her. She struggles to have normal relationships with anyone and is reckless and manipulative and explosive. She is normally at least passively suicidal and self-harms regularly. She’s probably been Institutionalized a few times in her youth but she’s a grown ass adult who ‘doesnt believe in that’ now.

not formally but she's done her share of damage with a scalpel 🤪 she's not insane enough to get into guns being the way that she is but she IS anxious enough to at least think about it. self-defense keychain owner.

She’s a she/her cis lesbian but my future vision for her if she doesnt khs beforehand is being a almost-40 yr old she/they/it with a phd. girl you are so subversive.

🍎 RED APPLE — where was your oc born? do they still live in/around their place of birth or do they live somewhere else? how do they feel about their birthplace?

I think maybe she’s not from Vegas but perhaps Reno??? And just moved to vegas for college. I think she plans on staying there tho. She has no strong feelings about reno except that it’s more boring than vegas and that it has bad memories attached to it (nothing super specific besides her hard hard life in general + leaving is her attempt to move on and grow). Vegas will Also have bad memories attached to it but it’s still too fresh to say <3

💘 HEART WITH ARROW — what and/or who do(es) your oc consider the most important to them?

vic and the approval of vic <3 and also probably bruno to a lesser degree but i think she'd act that way towards any weird old man who validated her. i think the music scene is her most important non-person thing tho, and it's what will remain to be important to her even after this bruno vic stuff inevitably goes south. she never did and still doesnt have many friends to go to shows with but now that she's in a band she's at least got minor fame on her side if not notoriety. her studies and staying on task in her life is also important to her, but it feels like more of a necessity than something she loves. failure just isnt an option on that one (until it Is).

💜 PURPLE HEART — what is your oc's ancestry/genetic background?

Man I dont think i ever picked a last name for her or anything to base this off of. she comes from a long line of uhhhhh *spins wheel* irish and polish. I don't think shes particularly genetically predisposed to anything or got much weird going on at all. all her issues are from her beautiful mind alone <3

🍛 CURRY AND RICE — what does your oc's typical dinner look like? do they usually eat dinner?

Pizza from vic >w< idk what kinda pizza she orders tho. seems like maybe a pepperoni or supreme type. if it's not pizza, i think she keeps it simple/grazes instead of eating a full meal bcz she doesn't have the motivation to do otherwise. shes not picky or terribly broke tho so shes usually got a good selection to choose from. needs those nutrience for her performances 💪

🤔 THINKING FACE — what are some of your oc's quirks/mannerisms?

i think she's got a staring problem like severely LOL shes creepy. she's generally pretty deadpan when not appearing to be so anxious that shes on the verge of throwing up. slouches. laughs at her own jokes. she's a very intense performer. she is dancing around she is breaking shit she is heavy breathing into the mic and smashing it on her head and cutting herself on stage and assaulting audience members an

this question took me a good while to think about, bc no one wallows in self-loathing quite like our boy :’D thank you for your patience in the meantime <3

things maxi likes about himself:

his ability to handle genuinely stressful situations. his work (both day and night) has given him a good grasp on compartmentalizing his own feelings and doing what needs to be done. he keeps a good level head and always seems to know what to do during the worst moments of anyone’s life (including his own, not that he’ll process until muuuuch later). he’s excellent at improvising, be that for a funeral gone sideways or a kill that’s being more difficult than expected - he has a knack for utilizing whatever’s around him to help mitigate the situation at hand in a way that’s usually subtle but effective.

his attention to detail: he remembers things about everyone, be it the Guests of Honor at the mortuary, to his fellow citizens of Greymoon, to you. Especially you. he has a knack for remembering the small, casual likes and dislikes of everyone he meets, even if they don’t always voice those preferences aloud, which makes doing business and even just regular social things go so much more smoothly. but he also notices things lots of people don’t just on the surface, and it’s saved his skin multiple times in the past (both literally and figuratively). it helps him track his intended target safely from a distance when he’s pursuing a new sacrifice to the House, it provides inspiration and possibilities when he’s helping a grieving family with funeral arrangements, and it did wonders for him when it came to creeping around your house alone the first time and figuring out everything about you he desperately wanted to know about your life, from your taste in music to your sleeping habits to your favorite snacks to whether there were any recent exes he’d have to take care of you, early on in your relationship. 🖤

his strength. it’s mostly natural from a lifetime of (dead)lifting caskets and bodies alike, but most people who know about it have also suspected since he was young that it has something to do with him being the Flesh Specialist of the three Morvants. people don’t expect it from a soft-spoken lanky guy in a suit with glasses, which means he has more than one kind of unexpected upper hand in a fight if it comes down to it. but he more regularly enjoys knowing that he can always pick you up no matter what - helpful if something’s wrong, of course, but he usually only does so for more flirtatious purposes (or, yknow, keeping you comfortably pinned against a wall when he’s railing you).

how he looks in a suit. we’ve established that wearing a suit is definitely a control thing for him - the stays underneath are a kind of reassuring grounding mechanism for him, and he has a near-compulsive need to look his best for you a good impression on the families he works with. he quietly appreciates the feeling that he’s always going the extra mile, but this means he feels a little shy/vulnerable when he’s in something simple like jeans and a t-shirt (or naked, but he’s usually more focused on you when he is :’D)

his ability to take care of you, and how he feels about you. you are legitimately the best thing to ever happen to him - you’re both wearing the way you’re tied together on your skin now, which should be more than enough proof. he’d overturn the balance of life and death as we know it for you, and while he doesn’t think he deserves you at all (we’ll get to that in a minute), he loves you more than anything. your relationship something he treasures intensely, not just because he adores you, but it feels like the last shred of proof he has that he’s not just a monster lying to himself. (…on another note, he would curl up and die if this part ever came out, but the service switch in him loves how he’s able to take care of you in other, more private ways. he loves how well and thoroughly he can satisfy you, it’s a quiet point of pride he’d never cop to but definitely feels nonetheless. he loves being the person who gets to do so, and he wouldn’t trade it for anything.)

his skill at his trade. he’s a fantastic embalmer/restorer for the dearly departed and still would be if he wasn’t a necromancer, which is important to him. he doesn’t want to feel like he’s just getting by on necro-magic and luck. he has a way of making sure funerals go as smoothly as possible, which is a hard thing to do when you can have lots of very emotional people in the room. he likes the feeling that he provides dignity and at least a little closure to those who need it.

things maxi dislikes about himself: (“Alphabetically or chronologically?” he’d ask with a wry grimace.)

he’s a monster. he is. he knows this. he has been for ages now. as much as you would protest, he knows just how careless and callous he used to be during his bad spell. how selfish he became, killing whoever got in his way just to fulfill his Chain, justifying it to himself with the fact that if this was the life he was doomed for, he might as well be everything his demons expected of him. he considers his current life his reform - he’s desperately trying to make up for just how bad he let himself get, trying to give dignity and grace back bc he feels he stole it cruelly from so many people. he’s always afraid he could, under the worst circumstances, become that creature again, and part of him is convinced he’s protecting people - especially you - from himself.

that he never seems to be enough. he just isn’t, it feels like a part of himself he can never separate. in his mind, he wasn’t enough to make his mother want to stay alive when rora died, he wasn’t the son his father ever wanted him to be, and while he realized with age he ever wanted to be the versions of himself his parents might have wanted, he can’t help but feel that his real self lacks something that makes people want to keep him around. he doesn’t have hector’s charm and rora’s grace. he’s too earnest, too soft. he’s always the tiniest bit afraid that one day you’ll come to the same conclusion, realizing he isn’t the partner you want, that he can’t give you the life you deserve. he’s sworn that he’ll force himself to respect your decision if it ever comes to that, and let you go. but he’s entirely certain you’ll walk away with his entire heart if you do.

that he’s a skilled killer. it was inevitable, when you grow up in a family of necromancers and a Houseful of demons that hold the key to your family’s wellbeing that require being fed, but he hates how easily it comes to him. he’s convinced if he were a better man, it wouldn’t be so easy for him to keep his head clear and his own revulsion for what he’s doing at bay, he wouldn’t find a perverse satisfaction in seeing someone meet a violent end even if he’s made sure they deserve it first. if he was better, stronger, he wouldn’t be this.

that he’s a perfectionist who can’t seem to relax. he was very much raised with the belief that doing your job well was just the norm, not something to receive praise for. you give what’s expected of you and nothing less. but this means his standards are incredibly high in lots of facets of his work, and on top of the feeling that he already isn’t enough, he just makes things harder on himself because he already feels he’s trying to make up for the fact that it’s him, so to speak. he wishes sometimes that he could be more relaxed for you - someone who could just show up casually, simply, and be effortlessly charming. but he feels like he’s always thinking, planning, having to stay two steps ahead for his own anxiety’s sake.

he knows he’s kind of weird and overeager even when he’s being friendly. his interests are understandably macabre, and he genuinely has come to love a lot of the mortuary arts - to him, it’s a long tradition of people loving and taking care of each other through the centuries. he’s always sought the darker side of things even in leisure, because he was always was looking for others who felt… like him, in some way. for a place he belonged. he can get too excited about getting to share that with people, and forgets sometimes about it being offputting to people who don’t spend a lot of time in his world. but he doesn’t know how to love anything in half-measures.

that his life is just kind of generally complicated, and he’s been afraid to share it with people for so long. who would want to get involved with him when they could have a normal life, without the threat of literal hellish danger always looming in the background? when he himself would likely do the same in a heartbeat? but here he is, and he does what he has to. he does his best to keep you safe from it, even though you know everything by now. he loves you, and he wants to give you a life that’s safe and peaceful and happy. he hates sometimes that all he can give you is the one he’s got, but he’s glad he gets to share it with you nonetheless.
