Tales of the Empire has made me think about my Imperial stormtrooper OCs again for the first time in years. My sad problematic disasters… I’ve missed them.
#the morally complex/redeemed imperial characters we have are all officers or inquisitors#canon is stll too afraid to acknowledge that the stormtroopers are people#they still haven’t gone where i have#we literally got a ‘tales of the empire’ series and none of the characters were the most numerous imperial come on#listen ‘villains are People’ and ‘people can be Evil’ are not mutually exclusive#every single actual nazi stormtrooper was a human being. flesh. blood. a child once#and yet they did things none of can imagine ourselves doing#there’s a tension there! that’s interesting!#also if you’re going to redeem fascists the downtrodden indoctrinated common soldiers who are given no respect by anyone#seem like the perfect choice right?#i just find it so funny that every stormtrooper we see is mean#or stupid#usually both#it isn’t enough that they’re working for the empire which is ontologically evil#they always have to be unpleasant people as well#so yeah i made ocs to counterbalance that trend and i may have gone a little overboard
