I guess Tumblr still exists huh
Me returning 7 years later because I need somewhere to dump all my DC ramblings.
I decided back in March that I was gonna read Batman/Batfam comics starting from Post-Crisis Year One onwards. It's been a trip. I just finished up the 90s as far as Batman goes, and I enjoyed it waaay more than I thought I would. I'm just now getting out of No Man's Land and into the New Gotham stuff.
I've also decided I'm gonna read as much Black Canary stuff as possible too and re-read Dixon/Simone Birds of Prey.
So some observations from all this:
Tim Drake's easily my favorite Robin. I love that boy.
Helena Bertinelli is someone I had liked before due to Birds of Prey, but had never read anything of her prior to BOP. Wooow was I missing out. She's easily Top 3 DC female heroes now for me. I adore her dynamic with Tim. I'm really not looking forward to what New 52 does to her.
Pre-Morrison Talia is great and I'll never forgive Grant Morrison for her character assassination
I think I can safely say that Dinah/Black Canary is my favorite DC lady. Unfortunately, now that I've read some more older Green Arrow stuff, I don't quite ship Dinah/Ollie the way I used to.
Still waiting for Steph to get further integrated into the Batfam. So far she's strictly with Tim besides that one-off teamup with Huntress (which was legendary tbh).
For as much as I do love Batman and would say he's my all-time favorite superhero, I think I like the Batfamily more? I know there's complaints and discourse out there of the family being too big, which is valid, but I really love them all and find their dynamics with each other and Bruce endlessly fascinating.
I've also come away from this with quite a few hottakes as well, but I'll keep those to myself lol.
Not comics-related: I came across a Sara Lance fan edit two months ago and my brain decided that was a good enough reason to rewatch some Arrowverse shit. Whyyy. I really do/did love Sara, easily one of my all-time favorite characters and definitely my favorite Arrowverse character. But rewatching her scenes in Arrow and rewatching up to S2 of LOT really reminds me of why I gave up on those shows (especially Legends, jfc do I have issues with that show). The crossover events still hold up though, I'll give Arrowverse that.

this is based on a true story and i feel stupid typing out this novel
I slept with someone miles from home whenever I was 21 who looked suspiciously like Colson some details have been edited in order to protect identities/obscure timelines
Also shitty and boring it’s a rough draft forgive my URL also thought I could changw it when I made it omg
I’m gonna send this in pieces bc it just disappeared (I can’t take the hint omg)
~ÂŁÂŁ~
The sound of pans clanging against a cold, concrete floor snap you back to your senses and also prompt you to press a Bluetooth earbud further into your brain, to drown it all out and get back to the flow. As the beat pounds on and on into your canal, aggressive lyrics soothing your movements into a ballet-esque orchestra repeating the task in front of you, you begin wrapping prepped food like a machine once again. Although burns, cuts, and bruises sting across your body (some of your trade, some for fun, and some from flat out vices) you pay no mind, as it is keeping you heavily grounded; Just as well, the crisp, wet, refreshing air (just faintly tinged with cigarette smoke,) of the emergency exit door wide open billow against your back, providing necessary healing and much needed relief from the aching muscles underneath your ratty shirt.
In the middle of your last piece of the steam table puzzle, you realize someone must be smoking this cigarette you smell? And it had been quite some time since your last, so it made you suddenly grit your teeth at the craving. Quickly checking the clock, you realize it is midnight, and you’re likely the last 2 in the store, so you need to hurry it up and finish cash drop. After all, it would be a long walk home in Cleveland, Ohio sleet.
You are jarred from your thoughts with a frigid, slender finger hooking your headphones around them and out of your ears. As you realize what Chipotle veteran is still left standing alongside you, you quickly pause the music and wipe your hands on a nearby towel before turning to face him.
“My bad I’m not done yet, if I’m holding you up Colson. I only have to stick this in the walk in, and count registers.”
A chuckle escaped the blonde don. He threw his hands up, so that you had to look up to see the tall, mysterious creature, as if to surrender. “I’m not a boss man, take your time. I just wanted to see if you needed a square. It’s been since lunch rush you had a break.” He stops to look at you sternly, although in fascination. “And you were here before me.”
“That’s okay,” you reassure, stacking bowls in your arms neatly, “I have to go by the gas station after this to get some.”
Colson begins snatching things from you to pace alongside you towards the cooler. “Let me help you. Take a break, I’ll GIVE you a cig, dude.”
You cringe at dude, because that is how everyone saw you no matter how many days you came in with make up and a clean apron. Nevertheless, you were grateful, and you told him as much.
You had become comfortable in the job itself the past 18 months, and you knew every employee from sheer silent and thoughtful observation, but you were sure this was the most you had talked to Colson (or the other, less attractive crew either, for that matter) and weren’t quite as content with small talk or favors. You noted sometime last week he must be having a hard time when you had to step on the line for him after an altercation with a customer, which he walked out over. First time in a year and a half, so you knew it must be serious.
Once the task was completed, Colson abruptly grabs you by the arm and forces a menthol into it.
“Let’s do that first and then we’ll blow this joint.” Ever the jokester, as he says this, he winks and pulls a joint from behind his ear.
“You got tricks,” I laugh
We walk out the back and Colson hops up onto a stack of Buffalo Rock crates to light the J. You walk a safe distance from him to light your much appreciated cigarette.
“So you don’t talk much,” Colson hisses, taking a big inhale, before continuing as he keeps the joint from running, “but I know you smoke, cause your backpack always REEKS, dude.” He cracks a smile, eyes low and beautiful eyelashes glistening in the flurries swirling around you.
You nod in acknowledgement, no sense denying that. “It’s for my glaucoma,” you joke dryly.
Colson snorts and chokes before leaning out with the bud to pass it.
“So how you be doing that shit all day? Lifting dishpans bigger than you and shit, doubles 6 days a week?” Colson inquires, and if it weren’t wishful thinking you would say he was checking you out. Hopefully not just to see if you’re a robot.
You smile meekly. “Well, you do it, too,” you remind.
“Yeah but I’m not a girl. I’m
Well, look at me,” he boasts playfully from atop his King of the Hill stack, arms spread out to show off, as the makeshift throne wobbles slightly below. “I’m six-foot-foe,” he smirks, holding fingers up as he annunciates.
You have to laugh at his gloating. “Well, as long as I want to eat, I’ll be here,” you dismiss as gently as you can. try as you might, This brings up the uncomfortable memory of your first month here, when Colson silently pushed a plate of steak towards you on your break after watching you struggling to stay vertical.
Colson knits a brow as brushes your fingertips softly to take the blunt back. “Another question, do you really be walking home, alone, in this shit every night?” He motions to the snow beginning to swirl.
“Yeah, I do what I have to. It was rough at first, now it’s like meditation. Only, like, 15 minutes,” you dismiss. You know you could have a car by now if you could give up the pills, and you feel the shame, all too familiar, welling up like a tight ball in your stomach.
“Well I can tell you you ain’t doing that shit tonight,” he affirms seriously, “cause I got a whip now!” His tone of concern Cascades easily info one of excitement.
You’re blushing now, whyyy? You’d been able to avoid everyone up to this point, sans your dealer. “You really don’t have to do that,” you say, though the wind off your face did sound more and more intoxicating as it whipped around the two of you.
“I INSIST,” he barks, putting the roach out between two fingers.
You make quick work of counting the registers while Colson stared on, expression unreadable. You grow more self conscious with each single you lay down , but try to ignore it.
“Damn, you a pro at this,” he snorts, sticking the same stack of hundreds through the bill counter over and over. “You one with the bands or something. Almost faster than this thing,’ he motions to the machine on the desk.
"And that’s a wrap,” you conclude, stacking drawers inside the safe with a quickness. “I’m just gonna change and we can leave.”
Cautiously and curiously, Colson stands in the doorway, waiting.
“Oh, my bad, you might wanna do that in private,” he smirks, stepping to the side.
Quickly you pull the door closed to the tiny office and pretend you aren’t trying to see if Colson is looking thru the small glass window, while you quickly strip to a crop top, sweatpants and a light jacket. Once finished, you attempt to gather your composure, and exit to find him scrambling to gather his as well.
You head in silence to his car, a used ‘96 Toyota. Once inside, Colson shakes and rubs his hands together, flicking a heater on immediately. “Sh-it, it is freezing,” he remarks, warming his hands by his mouth, eyes grazing across you, “aren’t you dying in that??” He motions to your flannel.
“Business as usual,” you say. If only he knew how many pharmaceuticals and trauma went into that demeanor.
“Shid, fuck that,” he resists, and begins digging in his backseat. “Here, this is Slim’s, wear it to make me feel better.”
You slip the jacket over your lap and give a nod of appreciation. You hated feeling like a homeless hopeless.
Colson reaches for the auxiliary cord and stops himself from pulling his phone from his pocket. You try hard not to stare at his briefs peeking over his belt.
“Let’s see what you’re bobbing your head to all day,” he smiles, hand out.
You oblige, only to realize who it was paused on.
“Oh, wait, not that playlis–”
“Dawg, is this my shit??” Colson almost screams, although curiously he doesn’t seem creeped out, he’s
 Excited?
“Uh
” You bite your lip. “You
Did promote it constantly. Well, still do,” you stammer.
“No, no. Do NOT be embarrassed, this is fuckin sick! Incredible,” he whispers in disbelief, hooking up the cord, as he pulls a devil’s horn with the other hand. “We have a fan!” He triumphs before putting it in reverse and backing away.
“So, I was thinking
” He trails, fingers drumming almost nervously on the steering wheel, “we could hang at my place for a bit? Our names are next to each other on the schedule, so I know you have TWO whole days off, too,” he reminds, almost shutting down any attempt at refusal.
“I have smoke,” you offer, “but no wraps.”
Colson grins big. “Perfect, I got both at the house.”

Everlasting Party - Mystic Messenger Time Loop AU (pt 36)
<- Previous Chapter | Chapter Index | Next Chapter ->
Summary: You’re caught in a time loop during the 11 days leading up to the RFA’s party unless you can do
 what, exactly?
13+ Small spoilers for some stuff revealed around Day 7ish on Seven's route :)
Ahhh exciting stuff, guys. I'm really happy to be writing this ^^ Thanks so much for your feedback! Gives me strength to keep writing, hehe~ Thanks as always to Masdevallia on AO3 for beta-ing!
It’s the fourth day, 11:32pm. V logs out of the chatroom and you glance anxiously at the clock again before replying to Seven. As soon as Seven logs out, you’ll be putting your plan into action. The idea is to time it so that the program you’ve written to extract Unknown’s information starts collecting data right as Unknown logs in. Your code should be just about perfect this time – the only reason you hadn’t gotten the log on the last loop was because you’d started your program too late and the log had been cut short before you could finish collecting the data. But this time should be perfect. Then you’ll be the one chasing after Unknown.
youtube
You let out a breath and double-check the program folder where you’d saved the extracted log. You got it, right? The log is sitting in the folder like it should be. It’s a large enough file, so it probably wasn’t cut short like the last several times – not that you’ll know for sure until you finish decrypting it.
You glance again at the messages Unknown left in the chatroom. Who is he talking to? ‘Saeyoung’? Who is Saeyoung? Is that who he’s waited so long to see again?
You slouch in your seat, your back feeling a bit sore from sitting so stiffly in anticipation. This
doesn’t make sense. Every time before this loop, Unknown’s messages were partially illegible. You have the messages memorized because you’d tried to work out what they said before, to no avail. Even after scanning through some of the partial logs you’d gathered before, the data was too corrupted to extract the original text.
It doesn’t make sense. You’ve literally done this exact thing for months on end trying to get the log. Have you done something different enough this loop that prompted a different reaction from Unknown? But what did you do?
You look again at the chatroom log file you’ve collected. Well, you aren’t going to find any answers until you finish decrypting it. You make a few backups, then run the log through a program you’d written beforehand to decipher the RFA’s encryption, then try putting it through the program you use to get rid of Unknown’s encryption.
The latter program crashes and leaves you with a very complicated error message detailing the problems. You sigh and sit up in your seat again, scrolling through some of the error message before opening the log itself to take a look.
You’re stunned into silence. What is this? It doesn’t even remotely look like the partial logs you’d worked on before. Is it because this is the first time you’ve gotten the whole log? That doesn’t really make sense, but what other explanation is there? You scroll further down the log, looking for anything even passably familiar. If you’re lucky, Unknown will have used a similar underlying structure for his encryption and just changed some of the more visible parts.
Good God. You stretch your arms and roll your shoulders a few times. It’s just a little past midnight, now–-
Wait. Midnight? Shit, you should go. What if Unknown shows up at the apartment? Your heart seems to freeze in your throat.
Calm down. There’s time.
Where should you go? The café again? Oh, but
you won’t be able to bring your hacking computer there. You suppose that isn’t the end of the world, but
wait. If you don’t figure out the log by morning and you’re at that cafĂ©, you’ll be reset. And then you won’t know what’s in the log at all and your effort will be for nothing. Wow, you really haven’t thought this part through. Or, more like you’d just assumed your programs could quickly decode the log with perhaps some minor modifications, but now
Unknown’s encryption changing had never been part of the plan. Goddamn. Maybe you should have been talking to Jumin again and trying to get more days. Should you risk it and stay at the apartment to decrypt the log? You’ve never been caught by Unknown before
but you’re really rather not take any chances.
Decrypt the log
 or play it safe
?
Your heart seems to settle back in your chest and you take a deep breath. The log. Something is up here, and you’re going to figure it out. And if Unknown does come
. You glance at the window he usually comes through. Well, you’ll be ready if he comes. If you’re lucky, Seven might even call you and warn you.
You put on a pair of shoes in case you need to make a quick escape and position yourself so you can see both the window and the door to the hallway. Okay. Ready. You swallow and stretch your fingers again, trying to stop your hands from shaking. Now you’ll really get to see if all those loops you’ve spent learning how to hack are worth anything.
You’ve barely begun typing when your phone buzzes with a new notification.
12:18am – Yoosung★ is now online.
Yoo...sung? At 12:18am? That’s a first. Unless he’s logging on really early to give that odd spiel about how the RFA were all robots
but you haven’t seen him say that sort of thing since before the
since before the bomb went off and your first few days got scrambled up. You’ve also seen him log in and talk about LOLOL on the fifth day
hmm. That was such a long time ago. Was that when you’d gotten Jaehee to go to Zen’s house instead of going yourself? It’s been ages since you’ve gone through the sequence of days when Zen hurts his foot.
Assuming it’s not some excessively early variation on loops you’ve been through before, this is the first time Yoosung has been online at this time on the fifth day. Should you log in as well to talk to him?
No, no. You shake your head at yourself. Decrypt the log first. You can always read what he wrote later. If Seven logs in, though, you should probably talk to him in case it has something to do with the hacker.
Your heart seems to be stuttering the whole time and you feel a bit of hope blossoming next to the knot of unease in your chest. Unusual login times usually mean you did something that will earn you a few more days, maybe even up to the party date
but you’ve also been fooled before. And a few days aren’t really anything to get excited over unless they lead to a way out of the loop instead of just a couple extra days before you’re reset like always.
Still, there’s just something about this particular loop

<- Previous Chapter | Chapter Index | Next Chapter ->
Yo low-key the next chapter has a reaaaaaaaaaally long chatroom part. Like, the longest yet. So uh... wish me luck Photoshopping it... haha... guys it's gonna take me like 6+ hours to edit that thing whyyy lmao
I always love hearing what you think, so leave a comment or send me an ask! Here’s a link to the masterpost of all my Mystic Messenger fics. Thank you very much for reading! ♄

Taken for Granted (pt 3)
As Namjoon closed the door behind him, he stood by the entrance, snickering to himself. “Her? Liking me? Wahh” he said silently to himself. He wasn’t sure what it was he was feeling now, but he couldn’t stop smiling. “As if I’d like her?” he said again to himself.
“Hyung what are you doing by yourself there?” Jungkook asked curiously.
“Huh? Oh nothing” Namjoon said, flustered.
(One week later)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Hey guys, Y/N isn’t coming today! Looks like it’s just us tonight” Jin said, filling his voice through the dorm.
“Awh, whyyy” Taehyung asked, coming out of the living room.
“She said she’s sick” Jin said with a frown.
“Let’s go there then! We can bring her food” Taehyung said, excitedly.
“Yah, if she’s sick she should just rest. She can’t be taking care of you guys too” Jin scolded.
Taehyung walked back to the living room with his head held down. He was looking forward to watching the movie you two had discussed a few weeks ago, but it looks like it would have to wait another week.
Namjoon meanwhile, listened to everything silently from the dining table. “That’s weird, she never falls sick...” he said to himself.
“What’s that? Couldn’t hear you” Hoseok said, sitting across from him,
“oh, no it’s nothing” Namjoon said.
The rest of the night went by rather slowly. The boys were all off doing their own things, and to Namjoon it felt so wrong. Usually, they would all be huddled in their living room, watching random movies. He always thought that he was forced to join them because he couldn’t have cared less for the movie nights, but before he realized it himself, he found himself finishing up work early and setting aside time each movie night. Instead, now the time was filled with silence whereas it was usually filled with your giggles and comments about the movies. It felt wrong.
Aish, who cares. Now I can work on the album a bit more now. It’s good to have this time to myself instead of a stupid movie. But he couldn’t get anything done. He was too distracted with his own thoughts
(4 days later)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I guess she’s not coming” Yoongi said as he places his phone back on the table. Namjoon looks at him, surprised.
“What?! Why? Did you tell her it was cypher?” Hoseok asked.
“Yeah, she figured it was cypher. She just said she’s been busy with work” Yoongi said with a sigh.
“wahh, she really must be busy if she turned down Cypher. Aren’t they overworking our girl though” Hoseok said with a huff.
“Speaking of work, she said she’s not coming to movie night again. She’s been stressed with work...I’m kinda worried” Yoongi said.
“Wait what, she’s skipping two weeks in a row? That’s uncalled for. We’ve known her for what, 4 years? She’s never skipped two weeks in a row” Hoseok said, eyes wide.
“Yeah I know” Yoongi said, looking back to his laptop.
“Ok, well we can’t just sit here and wait for her. We’re just wasting time, lets just get on with it” Namjoon said, annoyed.
It’s true, you never really missed movie night unless the boys had a schedule to attend to or if they were on tour. But if was never you canceling plans first. Over the last four years, the boys had called you in to the studio multiple times, asking you to listen to the tracks and provide any input you could think of. Namjoon always played it off, not really caring for your feedback. But somehow, your words stuck in his mind and without even thinking about it, he would go back and edit the tracks according to what you said. And he couldn’t help but snicker when he saw you smile when you heard the changes yourself when the albums had come out. In fact, he even had a little notes page pulled up on his laptop, hoping to write down all your feedback secretly. But instead, you weren’t going show and he closed his laptop angrily.
“Woah, calm down Joon” Hoseok said, noticing Namjoon’s sudden mood.
“Lets just keep editing and do the best we can.” Namjoon said, going back to working on the desktop.
Namjoon was frustrated, but he couldn’t really understand why. You were never one to turn them down, which at first he thought it was annoying because it made it seem like you didn’t have anything better to do. But now you were backing out of plans left and right. And he didn’t understand why he was upset by the fact.
How stressed must she be at work? Can’t even coming for movie night again? Is she being overworked?
(two weeks later)
You finally got the courage to go back and face the boys. You decided to drown yourself in work and try to forget about your feelings. In fact, the hard work was paying off as word got around that you were being considered as the temporary replacement for one of GOT7â€Čs manager who was going on paternity leave for a few months. You were excited for the opportunity, but nothing was set in stone.
You managed to convince yourself that you could no longer pine over Namjoon, especially when he made it clear that he had no feelings for you whatsoever. When he laughed at you, you were beyond hurt. But after those feelings dimmed down, it was replaced with anger. How could he just laugh at your feelings like that? Maybe he wasn’t as great as you made him out to be. You told yourself to get over him and get over him quickly. You couldn’t avoid him forever, because that would mean avoiding the other boys and you just couldn’t do that to yourself or them. So with heavy steps, you made your way to their dorm once again, hoping to surprise the boys. They greeted you eagerly at the door, hugging you even.   Luckily, Namjoon had stepped out to the studio for a bit and was going to be late
As soon as Namjoon opened the door, he noticed a pair of familiar white sneakers near the door. He immediately thought of you, but the boys never mentioned you coming over today. He just thought you were busy again. But then he heard it.
He heard your laugh and small giggles. The sound filled the dorm, along with the laughter with the rest of the boys. He could smell the food Jin was making and Namjoon couldn’t help but smile, just staring at the shoes. He didn’t know why he felt the way he did, but he felt like the thing that was missing this past month was finally back.
He walked towards the living room slowly, his eyes immediately landing on you standing by the dining room table on the phone. Your back was faced towards him and he could see you keep nodding your head as if the person on the other end of the line could see you. Before hanging up though, you did somewhat of a little happy dance, jumping up and down in excitement. Before he knew it, Namjoon had started walking towards you. He pulled out a chair at the end of the table quietly, setting down his stuff. His senses were immediately filled with both the smell of Jin’s cooking and your sweet shampoo. Both smells mixed together was rather strange, but Namjoon loved it and maybe he was starting to realize how much he missed it.
Pretending to grab a glass of water from the table, Namjoon walked up to your side. You jumped a little when you saw him stand beside you, not aware that he returned home.
“Hey” he said with a small smile and looked directly into. He expected you to do that thing you had always done in the past. You would give him your biggest smile and ask him how his day was and what he’s been up to. How the album was coming along. Just anything to get him to talk to you.
Instead, you looked up at him with an empty expression. You gave him a small smile, as if to simply acknowledge his presence. You nodded ever so slightly and looked back at your phone, locking it. You tucked your phone back into your back pocket and walked back to the boys, without uttering a single word.
Namjoon stood there frozen for a second and stared at the empty space where you were just standing seconds before, shocked with the recent encounter. He turned back to look at you walk to the guys, continuing the previous conversation and laughing along with them. Some of the boys gave him a concerned expression, nothing the strange behavior from both him and you.
Namjoon couldn’t help but feel sad. Why isn’t she acknowledging me?
He anxiously went and sat in the living room with everyone else, sitting directly across you. But as the conversation went on, not once did you look up at him. Even when he was speaking, you looked everywhere else but him and it was driving him nuts.
“Oh yeah, who were you on the phone with earlier?” asked Jin.
“Oh!” you squeaked, garnering a laugh from the group. “That was work! One of the manager sunbaes is taking a few months off for paternity leave and they’re having me fill in while he’s gone. It’s a good opportunity to show my potential I guess!” you say, excitedly.
“Y/N that’s great! What group are you going to be working with?” Hoseok asks.
“Got7!” you reply.
“Hey! We’re good friends with them~ You just let us know if they’re ever giving you a hard time” Jungkooks says. You giggle at his expression.
“Yeah, Jackson told me they’re getting ready for a comeback soon?” Namjoon says, looking at you. You had no choice but to answer back to him as all eyes were on you.
You smile awkwardly at him and just mumble a yeah.
“Wait a comeback? That means you’re going to be quite busy then...” Jimin says, concerned.
“Yeah..I guess I didn’t really think about it. If I’m right, your comebacks are just a few weeks apart, so I guess I’ll be seeing you guys backstage at music shows and stuff, but apart from that, I don’t know how often I’ll get to see you” You say, genuinely sad.
“What!! no more movie nights?!” Taehyung asks loudly.
“Yah, we have our own comeback to focus on!” Yoongi says, slapping the back of Taehyung’s head.
“Oh...right” Taehyung mumbles, rubbing the back of his head and sticking his tongue out at Yoongi, earning him another smack.
“Well, I think I’m going to go ahead and go..” you say, starting to stand up.
“Wait, you just got here! We didn’t even eat or watch a movie yet!” Jungkook says.
“I just wanted to surprise you guys since It’s been a while since I’ve seen you,” you say back. You face Namjoon intentionally for the first time the entire night as you say “I don’t want to intrude or be a burden” as he meets your eyes. There’s something about his expression that you can’t quite read and it’s something he’s never quite shown to you. But you push your thoughts away and grab your purse and jacket placed neatly near the sofa.
“You’re not a burden! Why would you say that?” Jimin asks.
“I mean, I did stop by unannounced. And as much as I want to eat Jin’s food, I think I have a lot to prepare for work” You say as you put on your coat.
“So..when will we see you next?” Hoseok asks.
“Ah, Oppa I’m not sure..” you say, sadly.
“That's fine. I’m proud of you for working your way up. And we’ll see you around at music shows soon I guess. And Y/N, please take care of your health too, that’s the most important” Jin says like the mother he is.
“Ah of course, oppa,i’ll” You say as you give him a side hug.
“And make sure you listen to our album! Don’t forget us now that you have a new group to take care of!” Yoongi says while laughing.
“How could I ever forget you guys. I I'llbe the first one to listen to the album as soon as it’s out. I even have the reminder up on my phone!” You say, giggling.
You made your way to the door as the boys followed suit. You put on your favorite white sneakers and opened the door, only to see in your peripheral vision that Namjoon was putting on his shoes as well.
“Hyung, you going somewhere?” asks Taehyung
“Yeah, need to get the mail”, he says, looking at you.
You swallow the lump in your throat that you didn’t know was there. The boys send you off, promising to see you soon and telling you to keep in touch frequently.
You walk slightly ahead of Namjoon, only for him to catch up to you at the elevator door. You can feel his eyes on you, and it took everything not to turn around. You prayed that someone else was in the elevator, but to your luck, there was absolutely no one. You even considered taking the stairs, but they were about 12 stories up and you didn’t want to do that to yourself and seem petty.
The elevator ride was painful to say the least. You just stood there like a statue, and by the time the elevator got down to the 8th floor, you pulled out your phone and started texting a friend to seem busy.
Namjoon meanwhile kept fidgeting near you. He didn’t really care for the mail, and he felt like you owed him some kind of a conversation.
“So.... you excited for the job?” He asks you nervously.
You turn to him, not expecting him to talk to you again. You simple nod “Yes” and turn back to your phone.
“How long are you filling in for?” He asks again, hoping to earn more of ar reply.
“3 Months” you say, this time not even bothering to look back at him when you replied.
Namjoon opened his mouth to try and say something, but he knew it was useless. You weren’t going to reply with the same enthusiasm as you always had.
As soon as the elevator door opened, you both tried to walk out at the same time. Instead, you ended up bumping into eachother and you quickly recoiled your hand away, as if he burned you. He didn’t like your reaction one bit.
He let you go first and watched you walk in front of him. You fumbled for your keys in your purse as you kept walking. “So, I’ll see you around I guess?” Namjoon finally says, as he realizes you were almost at your car.
You turn to face him and give him a look of confusion. “yeah” was all you could say. You turn around and walk to your car, quickly getting in and driving away. Namjoon watched as your car drove out of the parking lot, and he felt his heart tighten a bit.
“What the hell is going on?” He says aloud to himself. “Didn’t she like me? Or was I wrong?” he continues.
A/N: I was actually really proud of this part and I don’t really know why. Want a part 4? Let me know! What do you think so far? What do you think is going to happen in the future?

Twin Peaks returns to the airwaves in one month. ONE MONTH! After 26 years! While you wait out these last few weeks, get fully prepared for the craziness to come by completely immersing yourself in a Twin Peaks state of mind. We’ve got a list of suggested re-watches, forgotten pop culture nuggets, and more.
1) Twin Peaks Seasons One and Two, and Fire Walk With Me
Well, duh. Look, we know this is a bit straightforward for these types of lists, but you know you have no chance of having even the slightest clue as to what’s going to happen in the new season unless you sit back and rewatch the old ones (and the movie). If you haven’t already gone through the original 29 episodes, plus the pilot, plus the feature film, you have just enough time to start now and watch everything at a semi-normal pace. Wait much longer and you might be in danger of some pie-and-coffee fueled all-nighters (which wouldn’t be the worst thing ever).
2) Blue Velvet
Before he ventured to Twin Peaks, David Lynch explored a picture-perfect small town that’s hiding some terribly dark and twisted secrets in Blue Velvet. Future Agent Cooper Kyle MacLachlan plays a naive college student who becomes drawn into the seediest of underbellies, and the film shares other actors, themes, and character types with Twin Peaks—arguably even more so than with any other Lynch film.
3) On the Air
This is the wacky, 1950s-set, TV-themed comedy that David Lynch and Mark Frost made for ABC a year after Twin Peaks ended, starring Twin Peaks alums Miguel Ferrer and Ian Buchanan. It never caught on with the network—only three of its seven episodes made it to American airwaves—but it has since become a cult classic for obvious reasons. The bad news is that in order to watch a non-pirated version of On the Air, you’ll need the determination of a seasoned VHS collector, a pocket full of cash, and a working VCR. The good news is, YouTube exists.
4) The People Under the Stairs
Whyyy is this certifiably weird Wes Craven movie—about a kid who sneaks into the ramshackle home of his creepy landlords, only to discover a pack of feral children and golden treasure hidden within—on this list? It came out in November 1991, just a few months after Twin Peaks vanished into the Black Lodge, and it reunites the show’s kookiest couple: Big Ed and Nadine, a.k.a. actors Everett McGill and Wendy Robie, who appear to be having an absolute blast playing the landlords with evil yet campy flair.
5) West Side Story
Another head-scratcher, until you check the cast list of Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins’ 1961 Best Picture-winning musical. Long before Richard Beymer played Great Northern Hotel and One Eyed Jacks owner Benjamin Horne, he played the love-struck Tony. And long before Russ Tamblyn played Hawaii-obsessed shrink Dr. Lawrence Jacoby, he played Tony’s snap-happy best friend, Jets gangleader Riff. According to a 1990 Los Angeles Times article, the West Side Story connection was merely a casting coincidence; Lynch’s co-creator Mark Frost says they just happened to be the best actors who tested for their roles, and their characters never do interact much. However, it’s still fun to see them as fresh-faced crooners 30 years before their TV stints in the eeriest corner of the Pacific Northwest.
6) “Twin Beaks”
A memorable Twin Peaks spoof inevitably occurred when Kyle MacLachlan hosted Saturday Night Live, and other shows (including the geographically similar Northern Exposure) also paid homage to the pop culture phenomenon. However, Cookie Monster rules, as does that sassy talking log, so Sesame Street’s “Twin Beaks” wins the day.
7) “Dual Spires”
That said, and as much as we love Alistair Cookie, this episode of Psych—which aired in 2010, making its Twin Peaks love even more left-field and wonderful—is a very close second. Not only do multiple Twin Peaks stars make guest appearances, the murder mystery at the center of the episode is an obvious hat-tip—along with several other references, including a diary mentioning someone named “J,” a sawmill fire, and (of course) a diner that serves absurdly delicious pie.
8) The Secret History of Twin Peaks
Though you won’t learn anything about the third season from Mark Frost’s recent dossier-style book, The Secret History of Twin Peaks, is still a fun and intriguing read for fans of the show. If you really want to go all in, pick up a copy of The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer, which was written by Lynch’s daughter, Jennifer, and released in 1990 at the height of Twin Peaks insanity.
The name that most people associate with Twin Peaks is David Lynch, but co-creator Mark Frost was

9) The Twin Peaks Soundtrack
Diane, I had this on cassette tape back in the day. Now, of course, you can wrap your ears around Angelo Badalamenti’s iconic soundtrack for the show and Fire Walk With Me via any number of formats, including snazzy vinyl aimed at collectors. If you can’t get enough of Julee Cruise’s dreamy vocals—she’s the chanteuse who serenades at the Roadhouse—you can also pick up her 1989 solo release, Floating Into the Night, which was entirely co-written by Badalamenti and Lynch.
10) Pie
Coffee you can find on any block. It’s a bit more of a challenge to track down the perfect pie. Damn Fine Cherry Pie: And Other Recipes from TV’s Twin Peaks may be unauthorized, but it’s cleverly edited (there are also how-tos for “Mrs. Tremond’s Creamed Corn Chowder” and “Mexican Chihuahua Churros”) and written by the founder of the UK’s Twin Peaks festival, so it’ll appeal to your fan sensibilities as well as your taste buds.
