I love Horse Girl Lae'zel with all my heart, but also consider: modern AU Lae'zel is obsessed with birds of prey and falconry.

The light of the autumn sunrise helped to calm down your heartbeat and elaborated breathing, just to take notice how you don't even remember what caused that aggravated feeling. Having the same dream for the past three months isn't something that anyone would really enjoy. However, the feeling of nostalgia that stays stuck once you wake up is somewhat comforting.
It always felt like you were missing someone important, the problem is that you haven't even met them.
Sitting up in your bed and staring out the window, you admire the calm atmosphere created by nature in the small forest that's close to your house. Believing that the appreciation you felt is not only from your blood roots, but because of the genuine feeling of love towards the world that keeps you alive.
Seeing as it's still very early, you decide to go outside and enjoy the morning before your mother wakes up. It's not that she was against the idea of having you out of the house, but she is against you spending so much time talking alone in the forest. You gave up on explaining that you weren't talking alone but talking to mother nature because that only seemed to make her madder.
After changing into your most comfortable outfit, you took your brown messenger bag and checked that everything needed was inside. Phone, headphones, charger, bus card, glass jars, sketchbook, journal, the two books you are hyperfixating on lately, your special journal, and different types of pencils and pens. Accommodating your ring so you wouldn't have to worry about it falling you headed off, making sure of not creating any kind of sound while leaving through your back door.
Having explored the small forest countless times, you decided to go to a different place today. Getting on the bus and paying with your transport card, you contemplated the painting of the coffee-colored trees and little shops. It was a habit that many would think of as creepy, admiring your surroundings and enjoying the little movie of humans being humans. The halting of the bus brought you out of your thoughts, it was at its last stop which was the closest it could go to your destination.
Getting off and thanking the bus driver, you started to walk down a pebble street. After what felt like thirty minutes, there weren't any houses anymore and you started following a little dirt path to enter the forest.
A couple months ago a book in your school's library said that there was this mountain with a big forest, telling legends about how the entrance to the monster realm was located at the very top. Of course you believed this, but it was never worth the shot to climb all the way up there. Instead, you came to this specific forest because you already collected all the mushrooms in the small forest, a place as big as this surely had to have more mushrooms given the fact that it is October. However, the possibility of finding more types of bugs and fungi was what caused your interest to increase and finally gave you the push to come here.

After a while of walking through the forest, you started to give up on finding anything new. It was somewhat frustrating that you came all the way over here just so you would find the same species as the small forest. At least now you know that this forest is safe for you to come whenever you pleased.
Starting to go back the way you took, a movement in your peripheral vision caught your attention. Slowly walking towards the source in case it was another fox or deer, you were caught by surprise as a black cat jumped right in your arms. After taking a minute to compose yourself because of the added weight, you look right back at the greenish eyes that are staring directly at you.
"Hey little baby, what are you doing all the way over here in the forest?" Not speaking that much caused your voice to be gentle and maybe also the fact that you had a soft spot for animals. As you started to pet the cat it only let out a few meows which in your ears were like exact words.
"You want to show me something?" The small nod given in your direction was enough of an answer. "I was planning on going home, I don't want mom to get hysterical again." The feline jumped out of your arms and started walking away from the dirt path, stopping and looking back at you when it noticed that you weren't following.
Pulling out your phone and checking the time, you decided that you could follow this kitty for a little before going back. "Alright I'll go, but don't take too far from the path. It's my first time here and I could get lost" A happy meow was what you received as you started walking where the cat was located.

The cat took you to a small clearing and being too entranced by the way the light peaks through the brown leaves, it meowed to bring you out of your daydream. That's when you noticed something. A spruce tree. But not just any spruce tree. This one was accompanied by three beautiful mushrooms called...
"Amanita Muscaria"
As those words left your mouth, you instantly went to collect them, opening one of the jars you brought.
Amanita Muscaria, a very common mushroom used in fairy movies and in Super Mario games. It can be used to treat stress and anxiety, ease muscular pain and promote restorative sleep. However, this species is highly poisonous if you consume them, it may cause coma and in rare cases lead to death. Just think about it, a lethal dose can be as low as 0.1 mg/kg, and a single mushroom can contain up to 15 mg.
That poison might be very useful.
Once the small family of fungi was collected in the jar, you turned around to thank the cat just to see it wasn't there anymore.
That's when you noticed you had no idea how to go back.
With no better option than to try and walk around until you see something familiar, you heaved a long sigh.

You regret everything.
Walking around was completely useless as you initially thought. It only seemed to lead you deeper in the mountain, as if the forest was endless. Not having any breakfast only proved how many bad decisions you already took this single day because of the loud growl your stomach produced. At this point the option of using the poisonous mushroom to end this once and for all was looking very tempting.
The top was your only safe way now. There was no harm in trying to get some signal in your phone to open some sort of GPS and even if that failed you'll be able to somewhat see which way to take.
It was easier said than done.
Your legs started to hurt not even 10 minutes after starting to walk up the mountain. Guess that's what you get after skipping every single PE class to go to the library like the nerd you are.
However, the power of wanting to get the hell out of there and eat something kept you going. After what felt like an eternity, you reached somewhat the top. The end of the path at a small cave is what gave you the signal that it wasn't safe to go higher. Sitting on a rock with some moss on it, you admired the scenery before you whilst catching your breath.
Not only was the horizon like a painting from the romanticism era, but the cave itself was a portrait. The walls and floor were covered with moss and vines, even a small birch tree was growing peacefully near the center where small rays of sunshine hit its beautiful leaves.
Forgetting the reason you came all the way up there, you decided to enjoy this little scenery that seemed to be made just for you. Getting closer to the tree to admire it closely and feel the fresh rays of sunshine. Suddenly you felt like the floor you were standing on was a little too hollow from under it. Like when you are jumping on a slim wood plank that's only being supported in the air by two bricks at the ends of the plank.
That's when it hit you.
You walk as fast as you could to a safest zone but not fast enough so the dirt would give up under your feet. Still, it seems like you stood over it for far too long while trying to figure out why it felt that way. And before you knew it...
you were falling.
