Every time I see the tag “x ship invented love” I do a little mental thing where I go through all the ships I’ve seen it on and try to determine the oldest, giving them the title. Problems arise when one story has a different timeline of history (like the world being less old than it is irl) I’m like, in this case there is no easy way to determine which wins, considering that one ship could start super early in that earth’s history, but is still younger than the one set in a timeline as old as ours.

I don’t include ships from a fantasy setting with no or little connection to earth because they would be harder to date in comparison and wouldn’t have invented love in our world

#emma posts #I overthink things a lot #so far I think hualian is winning #it is however in a weird place when compared to Crowley/aziraphel #because that technically would have started close to the beginning of their alternate earth #but is younger than hualian in terms of years if I’m remembering the dates correctly #not me making a mental timeline for fun when I’m bored 👀#if I’m forgetting any older ship of mine. oops #but hualian became canon and had been around each other off and on around each other for fewer centuries than the other one #I don’t remember if we have a solid date for exactly how long ago that story happened #even though it’s fantasy it is still set on an earth and has an earth timeline #you can have characters older than the earth but I won’t count it until their first canon meeting for the in my mind competition #and if they are canon and have a canon date then they could be counted by when they got together or when they met #which is older though? if hualain is more recent in just years then it wouldn’t really matter which earth #but if they are older then that is where the mess begins #i feel like I’m forgetting someone though #you could argue that the first love story to be recorded invented love #but that is not what I’m thinking about #someone else is going to come in and be like ‘I have a ship from the ice age’ or something but I don’t #and for the sake of simplicity I’m only counting humans and humans look alikes #gets too complicated if I include early hominids and or other animals from prehistory #of which I can’t think of a ship I ship but eh 🤷‍♀️#no or little connection to earth includes Star Wars to me. sorry but that is very vague and if it’s a long enough time ago it would #outcompete earth ships too easily #this is about ships with connections to earth and humans #even just a little connections to humans #I’m not going to get into timeline messes like madoka magica. though I’m not super intense about any of those ships #I am also not going to count time-travel unless the ship started earlier than the others without time travel
