i wanna grab the guy who makes those 'fictional civilizations to stupid to exist' and 'villains too stupid to win' videos by the scruff of the neck and tell him 'fictional characters and worlds don't have to work like the real world if they work thematically my good bitch'

#personal crap #it has the same energy as cinemasins complaining the train in snowpiercer doesn't make sense #because they don't understand it's a metaphor for the injustices of capitalism #it also reminds me of something i found out when i was researching war of the worlds for a uni essay #someone interviewed jules verne and mentioned it and he said how he thinks it's silly that wells doesn't explain how the martian tech works #and i just read that and went 'no because his focus is on what the martians do with it and how it affects humanity'#why are some people the irl equivalent of the 'is scratchy's ribcage a magic piano' guy from that one simpsons episode
