Had this bonkers dream last night about two transmigrators into the same setting, except they had radically different takes on the setting as their base knowledge.
The source material was called Idiifiya, and it was a 30 million word novel which had been posting to the internet serially for 20 years, with no ending in sight. It was written by a reclusive, possibly Hungarian writer named Hent, and it was basically an exploitative all-girl-cast porn fantasy story which dabbled into every weird kink the internet has ever been into. Its main fandom consisted of teen boys-cum-millenial-incels over the course of 20 years.
Except at some point, someone had loosely adapted the first arc of Idiifiya (the "Academy" arc, as the fandom knew it, because it consisted of the characters going to magical school) into one of those stat-raising games like Princess Maker, essentially making a twee retro pixel mobile game that mainly appealed to zillenial girly-girls with a hankering for extremely punishing social simulator games.
One of the transmigrators (Kadiz) was an avid player of the game and she was taking the whole thing in stride, getting very good grades at being a magical girl, and working on her final exam. She was fully aware of Idiifiya's reputation as cheap smut, but her only opinion in this matter was 'man, when do we get to fuck??'
The other one (Bova) was a reader of the novel and had a lot of advance knowledge of upcoming events, which she was very fatalistic about. There was a whole sequence of Bova giving long, distrustful looks to pegasi during a magical animal husbandry class, because apparently the latest arc in Idiifiya which she'd been reading before transmigration had been the Pegasus Wars arc, unfinished, and the pegasi were evil for some reason.
There was also a few random conversations between Kadiz and Bova, during which they discovered stuff about one another, like the fact that Kadiz had actually read the beginning of Idiifiya so she wasn't as ignorant as Bova assumed, or another where it's revealed Bova was actually a dude before transmigrating.
Also something something, a subplot about how if anyone found out they were transmigrators they'd be killed, and they also saved an extremely cursed little boy, remarkable for the fact that this was like. the only male character that they encountered at that point other than one (1) male teacher.
