mirabels birthday so here’s some headcanons !!!🦋💘

- she zones out a LOT! whatever she’s working on/ thinking about takes priority in her mind so she accidentally gets so invested she could forget someone’s talking to her! (this doesn’t help in school)
- She’s a try hard on everything! probably stems from her giftless status but she gets frustrated if she can’t be up to standards! she ends up exhausting herself or burning out because she overworks herself!
- social butterfly! she’s a people person and loves talking to both the adults and the kids! she loves validation from the adults and being a role model to the kids!
- never stops talking😭 mirabels a professional yapper🙏 DONT ever ask her to explain what she’s working on because she will not shut up ever!!!
- carries around a sketchbook with her and goes to different parts of the encanto for inspiration! she might just doodle a motif or theme but it’s always something! she uses it later in her projects
- stealing @spooky-spextre-arts hc here but I love this one sm!! after Antonio’s plushie he tells the other kids and she makes a load of plushies for everyone!!
- she painted the mural in family madrigal! I think alma is aware mirabels artsy and would have asked her to do it! since it’s special commission that’s why the husbands are absent! mirabel was just so excited to be asked! Also it fits her art style
- she makes clothes! She designs them AND makes them!!
- she has friends! she’s incredibly social and I refuse to believe there’s only 2 teens in the encanto
- she likes cooking with julieta! even if she’s not the best at it she just appreciates the time with her mother!
- she helps Luisa discover her own style! since Luisa’s outfit is for work mirabel makes her other outfits to wear on her days off
- when she gets a crush she’s super annoying about it! Love language is acts of service!
- makes fun of camilo for being cringe (she is also cringe)
- Antonio is her fave cousin (this ones basically canon)
- a home bird!! she can’t ever picture herself leaving the encanto and this causes some friction between her and isa because isa does leave at some point!
- vents to casita about anything and everything (they are best friends)
- still struggles with opening up to people post movie. she’s not user to all the attention on her and gets overwhelmed often (she would never admit it)
- more street smart than book smart and is average in school but prefers art
- hates her birthdays (this one’s sad ik) but not only is it the anniversary of her ceremony but the day bruno left and in her mind the beginning of the cracks! she’s getting better but it’s still hard! (Her family spoil her for this exact reason)
- when she’s not playing music in the town she often plays with Felix and Dolores!

HOW I IMAGINE AMY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE MOVIE
(Since the first trailer of Sonic 3 has a devastating lack of Amy, I'm going to repost this big text I wrote back in 2022, honestly if she actually shows up I doubt it will be any close to this theory but it's ok I just want to see her)
Ok so now to finish already with my theory about Amy I'm going to write the things i imagine happening in the movie (for better understanding scroll down to read the other parts). And then I'll start talking about Rouge, well before the hypothetical movie Amy scenes I'll explain my version of her abilities:
It's Canon that in the movies there's something called Chaos power and it's been manifested in Sonic as superspeed decorated with a great visual of blue electric light in all his body in his case he was born with it, then knuckles also has a representation of Chaos power in strength and also a bit of speed but not even close to Sonic's basically as everybody knows is strength equal to Sonic's speed and is decorated with electric light as well but Red. Then we have Tails who has the ability to fly but that has nothing to do with chaos powers but he is decorated too with yellow light but in his case we only see it electric when he is using his gadgets, so electric energy or not... It comes from his high technology gadgets and not any powers... We also already know that Shadow's chaos powers are the chaos control, he can teleport and creat energy spears.
So for Amy i though a mix between Tails non chaos gadgets and the chaos power in the other furro guys bodies, her abilities physically speaking aren't chaos powered, she knows boxing, she is flexible and can make pretty acrobatic movements but her signature is her hammer she can summon out of air so to explain this skill in the movie i took another characteristic of her: her ability to read fortune cards and as i explained in my other post turned the Fortune cards in a Chaos relic/item I'm not sure how to name it so basically Amy found the cards someday and the cards chose her as rightful owner and gave her a weapon, one of the cards with a hammer drawing on it became a real hammer and since then Amy can summon both the cards and the hammer whenever she wants though sometimes the cards manifest by themselves if they need Amy to know something and of course everytime she summon them they are decorated with with pink electric light, and only Amy's eyes and hands have this light as well but not her entire body like sonic and knuckles. So her Chaos abilities come from chaos objects she is connected with and not from inside her body. (Important: in other media I've seen people being able to hold Amy's hammer like it weighs nothing but at least In this movie i don't want that i want it to be it like Thor hammer also if it's taken far away from her it will just go poof and be back at her hands but if she exhausts too much herself or if she gets knock out it will poof too)
And now the movie points:
1. I don't know if doing this at the beginning of the movie or in some flashback but we need a scene with Amy tripping and finding a chaos emerald and the cards reacting to it's chaos energy and she reading the disaster that will happen if she doesn't brings it back to the hedgehog hero.
2. After finally reaching earth guided by the fortune cards and not knowing the hero hedgehog, she will cross paths with Shadow and first she'll think he is the hero she is looking for but before trying to give the emerald to him she feels something off as she feels the cards reacting to his chaos energy but in a dark way so she hesitates and it's ambushed by Rouge who steals the gem and comments that because she is a good spy she knows Amy can detect the chaos energy therefore she could track the rest of the emeralds, Amy refuses seeing those 2 are up to no good and gets kidnapped (by eggman robots, G.U.N staff, or even the Aliens from Shadow's game i don't know) she tries to reason saying that the planet will be in danger if she doesn't give the emeralds to the hedgehog hero who obviously she will remark that can't be Shadow (and I was hoping these 2 could have a conversation where Amy will be confused and in fact Shadow will get a tiny bit memory trigged) but Rouge laughs and doesn't believes her and not that she cares.
3. But the moment she is Alone she realizes she still has a portal ring left and asks the cards to guide her somewhere close to the real hero and is teleported in green heel... Where she will meet Wade who comments she looks like a pink girl version of Sonic and Amy concludes that he must be real hedgehog hero and Wade offers to take her to Sonic's house but Amy starts having a crisis because she doesn't have the emerald anymore, she failed and made things difficult to the hero she was supposed to help save the world and now she is too ashamed to face him... Then Wade opens up to her and tells her that he has someone who admires, the sheriff and that he sometimes feels like he gets in his way and that he is useless but the sheriff (you know who is he xD) has always treated him as friend and always appreciated his help and that that sheriff is Sonic's dad and for sure he taught him well and he is sure Sonic won't be mad at her. With this Amy gets encouraged enough to face him, she tanks Wade and when they were about to go to Sonic's place... Green heels is under attack, Amy looks at Wade smiles determined while summoning her hammer and says: I'll never forget your kindness Wade and don't worry i promise I'll protect your home and then she rushes into action while Wade goes to help the people.
3. Sonic and his bros are struggling with the menace( eggman robots, aliens... Don't know) and then he sees a pink electric shape smashing the enemy and then slow motion happens and their eyes meet.... Then she finishes the enemy and the hammer poofs away while she gasps for the effort and side looks sonic shyly then sonic glups thinking about Tom teasing about this situation happening (scroll down to read the headcanon) and tries to say something but before any of the hedgehogs could say anything Tails or knuckles or both start thanking and praising Amy for helping them with her cool hammer and Amy thanks them overwhelmed and then Sonic wanting attention finally speaks, thanks her and ask her to introduce herself... Amy does and when she starts to explain what is she doing there she starts to apologize crying (fans of spy x family remember Anya's face while she apologized to Damian? THAT FACE), she is so sorry because she came from the other side of the Galaxy just to do a simple task and she couldn't help him and on top of that she made things harder for him and maybe because of her the earth is doomed... Sonic tries to calm her and she ashamedly asks if he would give her a chance to redeem her mistake even though she messed it up big and Sonic moved by her honest tears gives her a motivational speech about how awesome and brave she is for traveling the Galaxy just to help save a world that isn't hers knowing so little about the situation and that of course she wants a Thor in his group XD (she doesn't get the reference but the other two do and she takes it as a compliment) Amy blushes at his speech (completely obviously to us viewers she falls in love with him) and comments that now she is sure she found the true hero with how cool, bright and handsome sonic is and Sonic gets an ego boost at the same time he gets a crushing hard crisis while Tails and knuckles laughs.
4. The trio asks Amy about her abilities and there's a flashback with a classic Amy explaining the moment she found the cards and got the hammer. Then after this let's say we'll get more action scenes and trying to collect the emeralds and the master emerald ECT ECT more likely they'll separate in groups more fighting...
5. So at some point Sonic team and rouge are trying to save the planet and Amy is feeling powerless because now is the moment to do something and she can't and the cards are not helping her and then she sees shadow, then we get the famous SA2 conversation, (i would make it a bit longer like Amy commenting about the first time she saw him mistaking him for the hero). Then Shadow finally remembers, he turns his head looking at Amy, she sees a tear dropping from his determined sad eyes and Shadow said the famous Shadamy sentence I'll fulfill my promise for Maria and for YOU. And goes to help then Amy will be watching wondering.... "Maybe i DID GIVE the EMERALD to a HEDGEHOG HERO after all"
6. After Shadow's disappeared and Sonic gives his ring to Rouge saying Shadow was a hero too he looks at Amy and she smiles sadly, rushes to hug him and she says "I'm so glad you saved the world... Together" and Sonic (nervous ) says "WE saved the world together". Rouge goes her way (don't worry i will write her movie scenes as well) and the other four go back to green heels where Amy sadly starts to say goodbye but Sonic stops her saying she should stay and that earth has a lot of things she would love and the wachowskis offer her to stay with them (something that makes Sonic nervous 💗) but Amy looks at the family and comments that they have way too many people in the house and that she'll feel bad like is imposing and then Dad Wade steps in and offers her to live with him, that his Wade cave could use a female touch other than his mom when she visits and Amy is delighted and Tom comments to Sonic oh look that means she is going to be your cute neighbor next door 😏 and Sonic is like ( nervously ) "stop it don't you dare go there" 😖 but then he looks at Amy and she looks at him and they smile to each other
7. Last scene: they are playing baseball and this Time is Amy the one hitting the ball while this time is knuckles throwing it (everyone is worried because of knuckles force but Amy uses her hammer and no problem xD) after she hits it Wade is there cheering: YEEEESSS THAT'S MY GIRL! HAVE YOU SEEN HER???WOOOO !! Everyone is laughing and rolling their eyes and Sonic goes to Amy to congratulate her and tells her they are going to get Ice cream and asks her if she tried it yet and she is like: ice cream?? Yeah! I love ice cream!! Wade bought me one the other day, i think is definitely my favorite food!! So... What were you saying about an ice cream date? 🥰 And Sonic is like... Date? What? I didn't mean it like a Date i mean... Like all of us...😳 And then Wade comes: oh Ice cream! Yeah let's get some for everyone jaja then he whispers to sonic : hey you macho blue you better not try get all flirty with my pinky little girl I'm watching you...😤 And Sonic like:🙄😑 Amy: come on Wade! Sonic! Let's go!!😁 Sonic: come on Wade i race you! Wade: that is not fair....
You get the idea.
So this is how i imagine Amy being introduced in the movies what do you think?

Dude, your art is amazing! I absolutely love it ♥️
I know you haven't done any SU for a while, but the doubt about shattered au eats at me.
If not rude of me to ask... do you think you could give us a little more information about that au? 🥺
AAA Thank you!! And it's not a rude ask at all, it's completely welcome! :D
I don't remember too much about the Shattered AU because I never wrote anything down and most of the things I did with him were branched off aus BUT!! I will try to provide as much as I can! Warning, I did intend for this comic to be dark, so there are a lot of themes of death and bad mental health.
AND WARNING it goes into some internalized ableism territory because I was a stupid 14-15 year old who didn't realize that it's really bad to write a heavily traumatized character with a bad depiction of psychosis as an angry and violent person D: yikes....I'm way better with that now and learned more about mental illnesses and disorders and the stigma they have in media as I got older.
Continue with caution!!
I am about to dump some info
The comic was meant to begin right after the events of the movie and then skip ahead and follow the altered events of Future.
During the movie's events, Spinel had gone a little too far with her hurtful banter during their fight on top of the injector and Steven got a little more injured than in canon. I can't remember exactly what made Steven snap, but at the end of their fight, Steven finally threw a punch that hit Spinel right in the gem, causing it to shatter on impact. Steven then started to calm down and promptly passed out from exhaustion, nearly plummeting to his death off the the injector, but Garnet caught him about halfway down.
Chapter 1 takes place the morning after, Steven having no memory of his fight with Spinel. Everyone is avoiding the topic of Spinel whenever Steven tries to figure out how everything ended. Obviously things seem better than they did yesterday, so what happened? He's encouraged to go outside and help people (avoid the house), so Steven meets up with Bismuth, Lapis, and Peridot to go help with planning out Little Homeschool. They also avoid the topic of Spinel, so Steven storms off, feeling betrayed with all of his friends hiding something from him. He visits the injector and starts healing the ground to try and repair the damage Spinel caused. This only makes him MORE curious. That night he's laying awake thinking about what could've happened, then he gets hungry. There isn't much in the kitchen, but then he remembers he bubbled a slice of Lars' ube roll and sent it home. Steven goes to the bubble room to grab his ube and he spots Spinel's bubbled gem shards. He panics and drops his ube. A little purple spot grows on his hand, which hurts a lot. Steven goes to bed hungry and terrified. Chapter 2 Steven wakes up the next morning and finds the gems arguing. Garnet unfused and Ruby and Sapphire were arguing about how they felt about Spinel. Sapphire argues that it isn't right to ignore what happened while Ruby argues that they had no problem when they believed Rose had shattered Pink Diamond. Pearl sides with Ruby, arguing that it was for the greater good, and Amethyst sides with Ruby, arguing that it isn't right to leave her shattered. Steven starts interrogating the gems, trying to find out who shattered Spinel. He isn't getting a straight answer, but one of them mentions the arrival of the diamonds while trying to explain that day. He leaves the gems to investigate the pain on his hand, and he doesn't quite understand what that growing purple spot is. Ignoring that problem, he warps off to go see the Diamonds. They tell him that when they got to Earth, they were terrified to see him passed out and bloody, along with a destroyed piece of Earth. They all tried to help heal him, but were bickering and fighting over who could best heal him, and they all ended up using their powers on him at once while all fighting each other and worried for Steven. This had a negative reaction, mixing with his horrible emotional state, and caused him to start slowly corrupting. Steven freaked out once he realized the painful purple spot on his hand was actually corruption. The Diamonds try to help him, but he lashes out and runs away. When he tries to warp home it doesn't work at first, but his second try does work. As soon as he gets home he immediately rushes to the bathroom and tries to use the diamond essences to heal himself, but it doesn't work. He's still freaking out and he gets in a fight with Ruby, both parties are refusing to tell each other what's going on. Steven breaks a plate and the sound and feel triggers a panic attack. Ruby helps him calm down, but he starts to space out while thinking about everything and can no longer hear her. He has a flashback to his fight with Spinel and I imagined something like this would happen when he snaps out of it.
Chapter 3 Steven goes to bed and struggles to fall asleep, thinking a lot about the past few days. He doesn't even notice his transition from his thoughts to his dream when he finds himself on the injector fighting Spinel again. Her voice distorts and she asks him why he did it. He doesn't know, but she says:
Steven gets engulfed with butterflies and wakes up panicked. He runs downstairs to the bubble room and grabs the shards, taking them to the bath to try to fix her. He realizes he used all the diamond essence he had to try to heal himself, and couldn't do anything to fix Spinel. He breaks down and begins to corrupt more very rapidly, which again is super painful. When he hears a gem asking if he's okay while he's crying in the bathroom, he decides to wait for them to leave before running to his room and finding things to hide his corruption. He notices his jacket is ripped up after his fight with Spinel, so he wears his puffer and goes to buy another one on the boardwalk. Everyone notices Steven wearing a scarf, puffer, and gloves in the middle of summer. He's confronted by Ronaldo, which goes really awkwardly until Ronaldo notices his wrist is purple, so Steven runs away to avoid questions. Steven buys a jacket closes to his previous one and runs home. Pearl is in the house and asks him why he's dressed like it's winter and he just tells her it felt cold outside, which is such an obvious lie, and he needed a new jacket. She can't confront him on it though because he goes to his room and locks the door. Steven checks over his corruption, which was all the way up his arm and covering most of his shoulder. A butterfly amalgamation of himself appears sitting on the bed and starts confronting Steven on why he's lying and hiding things just like his mom. Steven calls it 'buddy' and continues to call it that going forward. Buddy acts as Steven's confrontational internal monologue.
Chapter 4 There is NOT a lot of information written down about this chapter and I don't have a clue as to what "Steven has an interesting expeirience with the corrupted gem" like I don't remember what that is at all. All I remember is they have to fight a corrupted gem and Steven has a bad time. There is also a moment when he's being chased by the corrupted gem and needs to warp to flee. It takes a lot of energy and concentration for him to warp and he barely gets out in the knick of time.
Chapter 5 is when SUF starts, I didn't have much written down for this because the plan was just SUF episodes but they go wrong because Steven's problems keep piling up. He doesn't make peace with the Roses, Steven lashes out at Pearl when they're at the shell and it worries her, Bluebird nearly kills him and he nearly kills Bluebird, Snow Day is just a family intervention, Steven and Lapis actually bond over her lesson about restraint being strength. During Bismuth Casual, Steven acts very passive aggressive toward Connie's friends because he's jealous and the two end up fighting. Steven reveals during the fight that he's corrupting. Connie gets angry about him hiding things from her and they have an awkward car ride home. Together Forever doesn't happen. Growing Pains is about the same except the reason isn't the marriage thing and also it's revealed Greg lost his arm during the events of the movie (Steven knew but we didn't). Mr. Universe Steven actually ends up hurting Greg, can't remember how though D:
Chapter 6 also doesn't have a lot of information (you can see where I got stuck and why it ended up cancelled) but in this chapter Steven ends up fighting really bad with Connie and he accidentally breaks her nose when trying to hit her hand away. Connie tells him to go to therapy and storms out, telling him to not call her again.
This is about the point where I stopped getting ideas for how to move further, I didn't even have an ending planned. All I knew was that I wanted Steven to go Kaiju mode near the end. I'm kinda glad this project went nowhere because it definitely would've added to the already bad stigma around mental illnesses and disorders in the SU community at the time. If you need me to tag this post with anything send me an ask! And I'm giving you a reminder to make sure to be aware of ableism, both within your own works and others!

Yes, this.
Give us disabled characters! Where the disability isn't the main plot!!
(in this rb: 1. Spesific + examples from my fic; 2. implications of "cure magic" - and why there still be disabled ppl)
Fanfic+examples
(bc I love my fanfic, and think it's interesting and well written. A batman, Cass-centric fic. )
The fic isn't about disability, but MC's recovery is tightly related to it - to have a self, a name, and ways to communicate with others. There are also at least 6 different communication ways.
It's also about culture, and how it shapes one's understanding of the world.
There are also many references to the Mayan myth of the twin heroes, puns, Jason and Cass as twins, and a LOT of misunderstandings and identity porn.
~
In my fanfic, MC wasn't taught/allowed to speak as a child. And also autistic.
At the beggining, MC is pre-verbal: the concept of language is strange.
(tw: self dehumanising ("it"), violence of a minor.)
Weapon don't know what. Weapon know this was people want and then touch Weapon and then move-confused-scared and noises. And then dagger in-and-out, and red and small noise, and people fall down and heavy and no more people . Just A sand sack. But it's liquid and heavier. And Weapon doesn't have the words or images or anything to even think about it. It just run, just keep going because -
Weapon can make people into sacks. ( No, please no ).
Later, they learn language (ASL), but they still use mostly functional language. Their thinking is very visual, which give us both tragic and comic moments of misunderstanding.
"What's Eh-Di-Ey?” They want to know. They want to capture all the little words, like bags in a jar they can recognise for the next time. “ADA is the Americans with Disabilities Act.” They blink. “It means they need to help people who need special help. Or they get in trouble with the law. So I told her that you need help with reading and writing.” Cass knows law. It's people with hammers and big white wigs. They think about Hammer-Man gives Old Lady a pencil and tell her to write for Cass. It's a funny picture.
They learn to speak, but it's not easy - and there are scenes about how learning to make spesific sounds is hard and frustrating. They also struggle with understanding spoken.
"No, You Purple. You not Robin." Batgirl try to find the right way to explain.
"Nice to see you too, Batgirl," Purple-in-new-colors puts hands on her hips. "What, like you're the first in the suit? And by the way, fuck you – it's eggplant!"
"Little-tree omelette?" Batgirl signs, confused.
"No, just– just eggplant, in one word. It's a vegetable. What do you mean I'm not Robin, huh? What, you think I'm not good enough for that?"
Batgirl is confused.
Very very confused. "Why not good?" "Then why'd you tell me I can't be Robin?" Huh? "You're Purple. Not Robin. You're Purple."
On chapter 5+-, they are hit with a spell that make them understand language (which is canon) and I tried to portray what it's like to be overwhelmed by words. Because it's hard.
The thing, the- (alien, medium, telepath) did something and it hurts (ache, sore, agunish) and everything together and all at once like words hit the brain (noises become words, turn into pictures too much, too fast to understand. It's overwhelming. Exhausting.) The pictures-in-head keep going like movie night, keep see it - like buildings fall on little people. But the building isn't concrete or bricks, it is made of words and all fall down and cover and hard to breathe. Everything push down and then fall, fall, fall like – But words still come after and cover– (It's like being buried alive, by the weight of words and sounds that all of a sudden has a meaning. It's hard to notice anything else. It's hard to understand, to read the bodies of everyone around.) Yes, they can still fight. But it's so much harder to understand what happens. It's hard, it can no longer be a Weapon. (And it's scares )
They still use mostly ASL after that. They still use functional language (for example, "apple" instead of "please hand over the apple". ) And there are struggles and misunderstanding related to "speaking different languages".
"Oracle to Batgirl, do you copy?" Batgirl tap twice for yes. (Copy like "I hear you," not copy like "make another exactly like." Important difference to remember.) "Good. Robin is heading your way, you'll work together tonight. Pay attention. Standard Patrol Protocol. Oracle out." Batgirl waits a second to understand everything. Robin is coming, work together tonight. "Heading" like "going this way," not "fall face first." Oracle… out? Of the house? For another mission? Maybe. She will ask Robin.
For more: the fic
Implications
Disclaimer: I have several disabilities, but not an amputee.
Also, "magic solutions" tend to ignore the environment.
For a simple example:
Ok, so your character regrew leg/had a leg-like magic. Cool.
Does it mean they don't have phantom pain?
How do they relearn to move with the new limb?
Aesthetic: If it's a re-grewed leg - it would be paler, as a new limb with no sun exposure. Magic - still keep the looks and overall looks from the environment where there's a "not leg". Which is a real issue for amputees irl.
Mentally - how your character adjusts to having a limb? Is there an equivalent of phantom pain?
Do they suffer from BIID? Body dysmorphia?
Body integrity identity disorder (BIID), or body integrity dysphoria, is a mental health condition where you feel that a limb or healthy body part shouldn't be part of your body. You're aware that this body part is healthy; you can still feel, use and move this body part, but you don't believe it should be yours.
And that's on top of my head, about a relatively "simple" fix.
(not to less the actual struggles of amputees. But to give a wider look.)
What about someone with CP? Down Syndrome? EDS?
What about intellectual disability?
Ethical issues:
can a caretaker decide for their charges to ongo this procedure?
Can you sue a (former) caretaker for making you take this? You're now considered your own guardian. But you never agreed to that in first place.
What about depression and anxiety and OCD?
What about PTSD?
This can have many, many implications.
And even if there was none, you'd still have people with disabilities - those who didn't match the current magic, or didn't want to go through, or any other reasons.
Remember y'all, *magic* doesn't negate the existence of disabled people. Eugenics does that. And Lainoff's book, All for One, is incredible and worth a read. It's on my bookshelf!

Sambucky writing prompts
Because I have a lot of ideas and no ability to focus on writing any of them right now... so I might as well share. Feel free to use any of these. You can tag me or send a link if you want to. (Unless it's ”a story about poor, sad Bucky... and Sam is kinda there to help” type of fanfiction, bacause I love Sam too much to read something like that.)
Let's go!
---
1. Both Sam and Bucky are trained to be Winter Soldiers at the same time. On one of the shared missions they accidentally form a connection which helps them with slowly getting their memories back, so they can escape together.
2. The Winter Soldier is sent to kill one Samuel Thomas Wilson, but for some reason he just cannot do it. (Or he almost did and regrets it immediately.)
3. Bucky's a mechanic that Sam called to help with repairing the boat and he works very slowly on purpose to have an excuse to see Sam more often.
4. Sam can actually talk to birds (as he should!) and they start to be annoying always asking about his dating life.
5. Sam is a literal angel. That's the prompt. (And canon.)
6. Sam and Bucky go on long, separate vacation. But they somehow end up in the same country, the same town, and the same hotel. Probably the same room too. What a surprise...
7. Bucky knows a lot of things about Sam and Sam is sure he never told him about any of that. Turns out Bucky migh have done some research between 2014 and 2016 when Sam was looking for him.
8. Sam discovers that Bucky had something to do with picking the designs for his new superhero suit.
9. Bucky finally tries to bond with Redwing and Sam does a very bad job at pretending he’s not amused.
10. Bucky has to deal with a painful realisation that Sam is not a supersoldier and that no matter how strong he is he'll always be more likely to get seriously hurt on their missions.
----- ------- -----
11. When they are frustrated Bucky starts to speak Russian and Sam responds to him in Arabic which doesn't solve the initial problem, but at least it's funny. (Bonus points if one of them - or both - pretends to not now the language the other one's speaking.)
12. Bucky has a terrible reputation and looks dangerous, so everyone prefers to avoid him, but then he meets Sam who just makes fun of his edgy persona all the time... and Bucky for some gay reason lets him. Everyone else is just very confused and worried about Sam’s safety. (Probably some University/High School AU.)
13. [It’s more like an art prompt, but whatever.] They both have long hair now. No plot. Just both of them being in love and appreciating how handsome the other one looks.
14. Since both Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan exist in the MCU canon I’d love to see Sam and Bucky’s reactions to their actors being on screen when they watch movies together.
15. Bucky didn’t have much experience with dating since 1940s and he thought he’d be the awkward one once he and Sam get together, but it turns out Sam was never in any relationship, because he was too busy and neglected that part of his life.
16. They both have the canon skills/powers, but only one of them is a superhero. The other is “their” villain. So still enemies to lovers, but a different flavour.
17. Sam always had the ability to talk to birds. He just... forgot to mention it before to other people, including Bucky. So the power-reveal is quite unexpected.
18. Sam and Bucky literally hate each other – it’s not just their canon-like amused annoyance. But then they start to learn what happened to the other one in the past and the feelings slowly shift from hatered into something else. (Might be a No Powers AU)
19. Sam thinks that Bucky misses the 40s. Well, he’s wrong.
20. Sam is a regular civilian (who never met Steve). He finds Bucky right after he escaped HYDRA and helps him go back to normal life. (He might know who he’s helping or not.)
----- ------- -----
21. Bucky learns about Riley, but he doesn’t learn it directly from Sam.
22. Sam and Bucky come back after the Blip, see each other, and try to deal with the situation together, no knowing what has just happened.
23. Bucky explains to Steve why he won’t go back to the past with him. It’s mostly because of Sam, obviously.
24. A story about Sam and Bucky growing apart between Endgame and tfatws and how they dealt with feeling like they’re losing yet another person so soon. (And about them coming bact to each other again.)
25. Sam and Bucky learn how other people around them see their relationship. It doesn’t really mirror how they see this partnership themselves.
26. A classic role-swap. Sam is the Winter Soldier. Bucky’s the Falcon. Their personalities stay exactly the same.
27. Sam and Bucky try to tell someone who knows almost nothing about them how they met. (They lie or they don’t.)
28. Bucky deals with people who are openly against Sam as the new Captain. Sam deals with people who think Bucky should be locked up for being “with” HYDRA in the past.
29. Sam is still The Falcon and later Captain America, but Bucky’s a regular person who also happens to be Sam’s huge fan.
30. Dr. Raynor said she heard a lot about Sam (presumably from Bucky). But what exactly did Bucky tell her?
----- ------- -----
31. Only one of them died after the Snap. The other one has to live for five years, hoping they’ll be able to reverse it.
32. The first time Sam and Bucky saw each other: scared, feeling exhausted, really happy, genuinely laughing, truly angry, crying, completely resigned, flustered, shy.
33. After being frozen in Wakanda Bucky lost all memories related to Sam. Sam has to decide whether he should use the opportunity to start the relationship over or let Bucky know about their less-than-ideal beginnings.
34. Sam accidentally gets super-serum. Bucky helps him with adjusting.
35. Bucky accidentally loses super-serum. Sam helps him with adjusting.
36. Sam used to visit Wakanda when Bucky was frozen and talked to him a lot, even when Bucky couldn’t hear him. (Well, couldn’t he?)
37. They have a conversation about Steve, but it’s Sam telling Bucky stories from their friendship (how they met, what they did as fugatives, how Sam feels about Steve leaving without saying goodbye).
38. Sam and Bucky use time travel (because they survived the Snap or for other reasons) and they see the past versions of themselves alone or interacting with each other.
39. Sam and Bucky are stuck in Soul Stone together. The problem is that they cannot really hide their emotions or memories as well as they would be able to as real people.
40. After disappearing in the Snap Sam gets a chance to talk to Riley. They know Sam will eventually come back to life, but they still can spend time together and get some closure that will help with moving Sam’s relationship with Bucky forward.

BakuSquad’s Boy Part 1
A/N: Based on a fic that doesn’t exist anymore :( I’ll be adding my own head canons from what i remember of the og fic. This whole thing is in a headcanon format :)))
Kirishima was sitting down when he noticed their new transfer student walking into the cafeteria looking lost. Without thinking twice he quickly caught the attention of the male and motioned him to come over.
“Is it okay if I join you?” you asked, recognizing the spiky haired student as your classmate.
“Of course, let me introduce you to everybody!”
The redhead introduced all the guys sitting at the table. The talkative blonde with the lightning bolt in his hair was Kaminari . The smiling black haired boy with oddly shaped elbows was Sero and the angry-faced pale blonde with red eyes was Bakugo. While the rest smiled at you he merely sneered and ignored you.
“Don’t let him bother you too much, he's a grouch!” Kirishima said smiling.
The entire lunch period was spent talking to the Bakusquad and explaining how you transferred from the hero school in your home country and enrolled at UA. Laughing with them and bonding over memes and hero training.
It didn’t take long for you to become part of the friend group.
Y’all are a chaotic group of motherfuckers
The group chat is mess; Bakugo is trying to help people w homework, Zero is constantly sharing tick tocks and at 2 am Denki will spam it with memes ( which pisses Bakugo off bc it wakes him up when he forgets to mute his notifications)
Y’all will study together, which surprisingly, can be super productive sometimes.
It honestly didn’t take very long for you guys to become inseparable. They have you back and you have theirs. Training and working out together is a plus because sometimes y’all are too busy to actually fully hangout.
Kirishima will compliment you in a “manly” way and will totally be your hype man. Will be ecstatic when you give back the same energy. One time Bakugo joined you guys for his morning workout and his jaw almost fell to the ground when he saw you take your shirt off. He couldn’t help but stare like holy shit you were ripped. Training with Kiri really did pay off. Bakugo smirked to himself when he noticed his red haired friend was also checking you out when you didn’t notice.
Going to the mall with Sero and Denki is a whole ass ride. Y’all will go to so many stores and either waste all your money or just fuck around. Hot Topic is definitely a favorite of theirs. They don’t care if it’s not your vibe because they will want to deck you out in the fitting rooms to see what you look like. Once they pushed the curtain before you were done changing your shirt and both pairs of eyes went straight to your body, making you blush.
After being friends for so long the Bakusquad could read each other's emotions and all recognized that they had crushes on you. They talked about it and concluded that this would by no means would get between their friendship but would amicably flirt with you.
They organized a sleepover not too long after. But it was basically them all fighting each other about who’s room they would be staying in. Ended up going to Bakugo’s room because it was the closest for most of them. When you got there you were so caught up with the movie that you didn't realize they were low-key fighting each other for a spot next to you/ touching you in general. It was when y’all were going to sleep when you realized you left your sheets and what not in your room. Bakugo without missing a beat said you could sleep with him which then prompted Denki to tell you that “Bakugo’s feet smell like shit you don't wanna sleep with him” for Kiri to go “ Hey that isn’t manly, you should sleep w me Y/N.”. While the three of them were battling it out you and Sero were just sitting crouched in the corner. “I mean Y/N I could always get sheets and stuff from my rooms ‘cause it's not that far from here.” only for Bakugo to throw a pillow straight in his face yelling “Shut it Soy-Sauce face!!” Yeah they felt really bad in the morning when you ended up sleeping on the floor with nothing covering you.
Sero will want to smoke with you. The first time he smoked with you, you ended up having a panic attack and he felt responsible for making you panic and so anxious. He tries to smoke by himself for the meanwhile until you convince him to let you try again. It goes much better this time. Y’all start vibing to his latin playlist and he tries to teach you but y’all just end up stumbling over each other and constantly laughing. When dancing becomes physically exhausted and watches tick tocks and videos on his phone. Which ends up with y’all crying over the video where the racoon tries to wash his cotton candy but it dissolves. At some point the tears become too much and you both reach for each other which ends up with y'all sobbing and cuddling each other. Y’all fell asleep like this :)
The whole squad smokes at one point or another. Kirishima does it whenever he’s just in the mood to hangout and he uber chills. Bakugo does it to relieve stress and just enjoy life a bit. Denki smokes the 2nd most in the group just whenever he needs to kill time or he wants to vibe.
There will be times when y'all will smoke together and just fuck shit up. Like, one night after exam y’all are smoking but shit starts getting wild. Like y'all are hopping off the walls and dancing around to random music. Denki will find a roach that's stuck on its back and trying to get back off its legs but y’all are dancing all around it thinking it's like break dancing. “ AYYYY FUCK IT UP” Bakugo would yell “GET INTO IT” Sero would then yell. One of y’all took a video and accidentally posted it on Snapchat so the next day Mina would ask like wth happened last night bc y’alls tik toks and snapchats were wack af. Sero would probably speak on behalf of the group and say “ We were just really hyper.
When they all become hyper aware of their feelings not only for you but like low-key for each other they all change a lil bit. Like:
Denki stops flirting with people outside of the Baku Squad. He’s more touchy with y’all. Holding onto arms, arms over shoulders, hands on waists, holding hands, sitting in y’alls laps (this is a big one)
Kirishima has more energy when he’s with you guys. Like he could be running lower on battery than normal but one of y'all just comes up to him and he lights up like a light bulb.
Bakugo stops ruining desks and promptly yelling at people. He’s toned down and becomes a bit more chilled out. Mostly when he's with you guys. He is still a grumpy gremlin when he is with people who aren’t the Baku Squad.
Sero actually hides it pretty well and no one notices and changes that are indicative of a crush. Probably a bit more confident in himself
Kirishima and Denki acting like they haven't seen each other in sages when it really has only been like five minutes.
“ OMG BRO IT'S BEEN FOREVER”
“OMG DENKI MY MAN I MISSED YOU SM!”
“ BRO C’MERE AND PLANT A PHAT ONE ON ME!”
“HELL YA MY DUDE, THIS IS GONNA BE MANLY.”
And then proceed to aggressively walk toward each other, slap each others asses and plant a kiss on each other's cheeks before erupting into a huge fit of laughter. While people around them are just like ‘wtf is going on’
Touching becomes a thing.
Y’all will actively find each other when y'all want a hug or cuddles or smth. Forehead and cheek kisses are a thing. Bakugo takes much longer to warm up to everyone starting really with you and Kirishima. most comfortable holding y’alls hands loosely and rubbing your knuckles. Denki probably does this the most. He lives for physical affection, just give this poor boy his much needed cuddles and kithes.
Despite y’all high-key crushing for each other you all still are absolutely focused on your career paths as heros. Bakugo helping teach english and you trying to help ( if you know english well enough to teach )
“Ok idiots for the last time what word do we use to describe Sarah?”
“I mean she took these poor dudes apples and all of these are positive adjectives...i think.”
“Yeah Sarah’s kind of a bitch.”
“SHUT IT YOU TOO AND ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION!”
“I mean Bakubro they aren’t wrong...”
“NOT YOU TOO KIRI!”
You guys work so well during team vs fights bc of how well you all know each other.
It’s an absolute mess but y’all love eachother <3
I will be making a part 2 ( + 3 i think ) so hang around for more :)

One ship exposes everything wrong with TRoS
Heaven help me, I’m back on my bullshit.
Alright, so, I enjoyed The Rise of Skywalker when I watched it. I actually watched it twice, once on my own when I rushed to see it as soon as possible in order to beat spoilers, and once with my family, in what was a semi-annual new year tradition for us during those four years that a Star Wars film released.
But that doesn’t mean it was good. I enjoyed Transformers: Dark of the Moon the first time I watched it, and that movie’s still a steaming pile of shit. I was admittedly fifteen when I saw DotM, but still.
My point is that I’m fully capable of enjoying crappy films.
But there’s one thing, one thing about TRoS that exemplifies so many of the problems with TRoS as a whole, if not everything (And by that I mean with TRoS specifically, the woeful treatment of John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran is a Whole Trilogy Problem). And it’s a ship. Specifically this ship.
The Resistance Y-Wing. I hate this ship with the fiery passion of an exploding star, and to talk about why, we need to first go back to The Last Jedi and its conspicuous lack of Y-Wings.
One of the things that I disliked most about the Sequels before TRoS put all the other problems into stark light was the lack of new ships. Instead of new vehicles, we got shinier, sleeker versions of the ships from the original trilogy. And I disliked this because it’s the opposite of what the Prequels did.
Episodes I-III don’t feature more primitive versions of the X-Wing and TIE Fighter, but instead have similar vehicles that evoke the classics while still having an identity of their own.
The ARC-170 looks kinda like an X-Wing, but it’s bigger and has more weapons and crew, and you get why the well-funded Republic can afford things like this while the scrappy Rebels can’t.
The Eta-2 is a predecessor to the TIE Fighter, but it being employed exclusively by Jedi makes a lot of sense, of course a precognitive wizard with superhuman reflexes can do well in a light, unshielded ship, while in the hands of the Empire’s military they’re just expendable swarm fighters.
But then in the Sequels, rather than evolve the ships into new forms, they just made new incarnations of the X-Wing, TIE Fighter, A-Wing, TIE Interceptor, B-Wing, and of course the Y-Wing.
Well, except for one movie: The Last Jedi.
At the outset of the film, we’re introduced to this ship.
This is the MG-100 StarFortress, AKA “That ship all the Star Wars Youtubers hate”. It’s designed to be a much heavier and bulkier version of the B-Wing Starfighter, and is even made by the same people.
From questions about how the bombs “fall” toward the Dreadnought (The answer is magnets) to claims that they’re completely useless because most of the ones in the film died so easily, these things have been put through the wringer by the fandom, and honestly they don’t deserve it? What destroyed the StarFortresses in the film wasn’t their own weaknesses, but them being deployed in too tight a formation. It was a tactical fuckup, not a problem with the ship’s design.
And given that the whole point of the battle over D’Qar is that Poe makes a tactical fuckup to kickstart his development into the new leader of the Resistance as a whole, adding another layer makes sense to me.
But we live in a post-CinemaSins world of media consumption, where every plot-point that isn’t spelled out with a flowchart and an audio commentary by the writers is actually a plothole.
We also live in an era where Star Wars fans pine for the days of the Legends canon where everything about new ships, species, and worlds was explained in background lore and books, and are angry that the new Canon is... doing exactly the same thing?
Seriously, how much exposition and lore dumping is actually present in any of the Star Wars films? Not a whole lot. And that applies to all three eras.
So the StarFortress’ appearance in the film and the lack of Y-Wings led to a bevy of armchair writers demanding to know why the Resistance weren’t using Y-Wings and why they were using those “Resistance Bombers” that are just ‘terrible’.
Answer? Because the Y-Wings sucked shit.
Seriously, go back to the Original Trilogy and try to keep track of the Y-Wings, and see what they actually do, and you’ll find that what they do is “Explode, mostly.”
We’re first introduced to the Y-Wings in A New Hope, and they’re supposed to be the ones performing the Trench Run while the X-Wings cover them, and to their credit, they try.
And then they all get blown up by Vader and his wingmen before they can even take a shot at the exhaust port. Well, except that one that appears with the rebel ships flying away from the Death Star.
Where the fuck were you when the X-Wings were doing the attack run?
The Y-Wings got absolutely wrecked.
Ancillary media would go on to explain that the Y-Wings were beat-up old vehicles that were no longer fit for purpose, but the Rebels had to use them anyway because they had basically no money. They’d stripped down the ships and removed a bunch of their more costly features just to make them viable, and the results of that were pretty clear.
Of course, the Y-Wings were still present in the later films. They don’t do anything in The Empire Strikes Back, but they play a role in Return of the Jedi.
Naturally, that role is mostly “Get blown up while the other ships do the important stuff”.
Despite supposedly being a fighter-bomber that was designed to do significant damage to capital ships, does the Y-Wing play a role in the destruction of the Executor? Does it fuck. Destroying the Imperial flagship’s deflector shields and the subsequent suicidal ram attack on the bridge are tasks that are both performed by the goddamn A-Wings. Y’know, the light interceptors?
The Y-Wings get shown up at their own job by the ships that are there to protect them from TIE Fighters.
Ancillary media again explains why they’re still there. While the Rebels have a newer, better fighter-bomber in the B-Wing, the B-Wing is expensive as fuck and also really difficult to fly.
A non-centreline cockpit that rotates will do that to a ship.
Still, the B-Wing was a better bomber than the Y-Wing ever was (And the StarFortress was better than them both at that role).
All this adds up to a simple fact: There were very good reasons why the Resistance weren’t using Y-Wings. And there were even reasonable reasons to choose the StarFortress compared to the B-Wing itself, given that the Resistance are still undermanned and under-funded, especially with the New Republic getting nuked midway through The Force Awakens. It being easier to fly and having more armaments would have made it a viable choice for the Resistance.
Buuuut oops, people didn’t like the StarFortress and we can’t make the Internet angry at us again! Better put the Y-Wings back in for Episode IX, and show them destroying a Xyston-class Destroyer, that’ll make them happy!
And sure, okay, giving the Resistance a fighter/bomber is probably a good idea. And they already have New X-Wings and New A-Wings, so where’s the harm in a New Y-Wing?
Alright, alright, sure. But why the fuck does it look like this?
If this is a new ship, why is it already stripped-down like the ones in the Original Trilogy? Why doesn’t it look like the actual brand-new Y-Wings we saw in The Clone Wars?
Now that’s more like it. Still visibly a Y-Wing, but with more of an identity of its own.
Seriously, “Literally the same ship but without its armour pulled off” has more of a unique identity than the crowd-pleasing New Y-Wing.
And that, in and of itself, is the essence of The Rise of Skywalker.
It’s blind, empty fanservice, rushing to include as much nostalgia-pandering as possible to try and get the fanbase back on-side after The Last Jedi didn’t do what the fanboys wanted it to do.
This is a whole near- three hour movie whose only message is “Yes, Youtubers making TFA critiques longer than an entire season of TCW, we hear you, we’ll make it for you, please love us!”
And, almost entirely predictably, it was shite.
It was riddled with plotholes and none of the scenes had any time to breathe because the movie was too desperately trying to rush itself to the next crowd-pleasing scene in a desperate attempt to wank off as many disgruntled fanboys as it possibly could.
Luke with his green saber! Jedi Leia! Chewie gets a medal! Lando! Luke raises his X-Wing out of the water! The main villain is a testicle in a bathrobe again! Snork origin! Original-flavour Star Destroyers! Rose doesn’t exist! Rey had a super-special secret magical bloodline the whole time and Luke and Leia totally knew even though Luke has literally no idea who she is in Episode VIII! Luke actually was just afraid of the bad guys in Episode VII, none of that self-imposed exile for his own mistakes nonsense! Y-Wings.
I mean fuck. Disagree with Luke’s portrayal in TLJ all you like, I certainly have my issues with it, but I lay those at the feet of JJ for making Luke’s absence into one of his fucking Mystery Boxes, and then deciding that, even though last time Luke sensed Leia and Han might be in danger, he abandoned his Jedi training, hopped in an X-Wing, and flew halfway across the galaxy to try and save them, he wouldn’t do shit when the First Order pointed a star-powered System-Killer 9000 at Leia, and Han got himself killed trying to redeem Kyle Ron. Like how in fuck was Rian supposed to explain Luke’s inaction in VII?
But regardless of the problems with that Luke portrayal, at least Mark Hamill gave it his all. Hell, it might be his best performance in the Star Wars franchise!
In TRoS, he shows up in a bad wig, waves a middle finger at TLJ, and ascends to his final form as a Lightsaber Delivery Boy, because apparently all you need to kill a Sith who literally clawed his way back from death is two lightsabers. Haunting Kyle Ron? Nope. Providing guidance as a ghost? Not really.
And y’know what the kicker is? It didn’t fucking work. Lucasfilm and Disney fucking gutted this trilogy, sliced out the integrity, surgically removed the soul of Episode IX in a desperate effort to make the Internet’s most unpleasable fanbase happy, and it didn’t work. They still hate it! Now they just concoct hour-long videos about how much they would’ve preferred to have the Trevorrow script (Which is admittedly much better, albeit still with it’s far share of giant flaws), which was probably thrown out because it wasn’t fanservicey enough!
The Rise of Skywalker is an awful film. It’s a loose collection of nostalgia-baiting moments, roughly stapled together around the skeleton of a plot that was never properly developed. It’s a Frankenstein’s Monster of a movie, but, and I say this with full offense, the Victor Frankenstein in this tragic story isn’t Lucasfilm or Disney or Kathleen Kennedy or Rian Johnson, or even JJ Abrams. It’s you, Star Wars Fandom. It is your monster.

boost my knight in shining armor<3. i wasn't gonna reply directly to this originally but i would also like to add that
1. even if i were sexualizing their relationship, there would be nothing wrong with it, because gay sex is not less profound or important than heterosexual friendship (and no, a small subsection of people on the internet choosing to engage with the idea of two characters being gay as opposed to their canonical heterosexuality, or "shipping", is not in any way remotely on the same level of cultural impact as actual media produced for the consumption of mass "mainstream" audiences assuming heterosexual romance as the default state of characters and often being incapable of conceiving the idea of men and women just being friends)
2. if you think i was sexualizing them because of the Susan Sarandon quote talking about dicks, that quote is from The Celluloid Closet (1995), an iconic documentary analysing the history of queerness in Hollywood. Sarandon says it in relation to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, which she's comparing to her own Thelma & Louise, particularly in terms of how those movies as a male/male relationship and female/female relationship handle the intimacy between their leads, where Thelma & Louise are allowed to express their affection, whatever its nature may be, with a kiss, but Butch and Sundance's affection, whatever its nature may be, isn't allowed to be expressed physically because they're men. it's still not reducing them to sex —in fact, quite the opposite—, and it is an actual piece of academic analysis on double gender standards and the nature of homoeroticism in media, particularly in the Western genre, whose homoeroticism is a staple in queer theory media analysis. it's exhausting constantly trying to explain to people that queer theory is a valid form of media analysis and that it's not "reducing" characters to their sexuality anymore than i would be "reducing" these characters to their economic backgrounds were i to analyse the different ways Starsky & Hutch handles class, for example.
3. what were you hoping to accomplish here, exactly? your perspective, which, for whoever many words you might've used, is still essentially "i think it's better when men are close but not gay", is not novel. it's not a revolutionary thought. it's the default. you're the majority here. do you think i don't know most people see Starsky & Hutch as staunchly heterosexual men who drive a cool car and get with hot chicks? my perspective, this perspective, is the different perspective.
@davidkendall
gay 70s copaganda thesis is actually about the inherent homoeroticism of the western genre and the cultural image of the male cowboy it borrows from. or as Susan Sarandon once put it, "They got their guns out because they couldn't get their dicks out"

Could you elaborate more on your Dark!Hiccup AU? I really like it so far
@evilwriter37 @jettara @we-becca89
Oofs, I wasn’t expecting such a reception to this idea and I know it's been a couple of days, but I'll try to explain what I was thinking when I thought of this dark-but-not-really!Hiccup concept.
So I’ve mentioned that this Hiccup is basically the same as canon movie Hiccup. He's still Berk's hero and dragon expert, he's still on the side of what he feels is good and right. He still helps people and rescues dragons everywhere.
There are just a few key differences here and there that make him a tad bit darker than what canon Hiccup is actually like.
1. love is conditional.
This is immediately a big difference compared to canon!Hiccup because he feels like he believes in the existence of unconditional love. So that's a difference with this version of Dark!Hiccup. Or like, Greyish!Hiccup, if you will.
One of the things that he’s been lead to believe growing up is that love is good and nice to have and give, but that it’s very much a thing based on conditions. At least when it comes to humans due to him first needing to fit in or have his unconventional ways be perceived as useful before he received any sort of acceptance.
In this AU, he doesn't come home to Berk after the Red Death with the belief "I'm finally accepted for who I am", but more with "I'm finally useful as I am." Which are two very different mindsets. One is definitely healthier than the other.
The latter has lead him to believe that his dad’s love for him, his Riders’ love for him, and even Astrid’s love for him will fade the second he’s out of this perceived grace and can’t fulfill this role of hero they’ve put him in after the defeat of the Red Death.
He doesn't know that this isn't true and that they do love him to death and beyond. And that while his love for them is still that strong as well. This is actually a mindset that makes how much he loves them hurtful to him in a way because of this perceived belief that they don't feel as strongly for him.
This is also true when he's together with Astrid. He loves her, enjoys his time with her "while he still can". It's a very stressful existence. (Or the OT6 if you prefer. ;D)
This excludes the dragons, especially Toothless, as they didn't need him to prove himself as worthy first. He just needed to not kill or hurt them, which is really the bare minimum.
2. He's kind of two-faced.
The usually cheery and overly enthusiastic Hiccup that the Dragon Riders know and love isn't quite as real as they think. He's kind of two-faced on that matter, acting a certain way and hiding behind a façade of naivety. You can't tell that he's always overthinking most things if he doesn't look like it. Works great on enemies, too, who often take him at face value at first before he and the Dragon Riders show them what they are really like.
In reality, Greyish!Hiccup is quite aloof and keeps to himself more, quite introverted. Being around the Riders is quite draining, though he hides this as well as he can.
Which, again, doesn't mean he doesn't truly appreciate and love his Riders. He just really feels like he needs to keep up this act and be this persona.
3. Hiding secrets and is actually good at lying.
This is also where I kinda want to fit my "Hiccup's right leg was also severely burned" headcanon into. So I'm going to use that as an example.
Basically, the idea I had was that only Stoick, Gothi, and Gobber know that both of Hiccup's legs were in bad shape with one ending up partially amputated.
Hiccup, believing that "love is conditional" thing, keeps the bad shape of his right leg to himself and keeps that he's keeping it to himself to himself. Gothi has no reason to talk about possible issues with his scars with anyone other than Hiccup. And Gobber doesn't exactly regularly bring them up in conversation either, so it works. And with the limp from his left leg, it's easier to write off issues with his right leg as "oof, just my stump acting up again, you guys!"
Basically, he keeps things about himself secret that he thinks others, not even his friends, don't need to know. Anything that he fears may make him seem weak in the eyes of his village.
He's also a fairly good liar and this is where the "kinda two-faced" part comes in again. Because the Riders and the people of Berk are of the opinion that Hiccup's a bad liar. They just don't know that's a specially crafted lie, too.
4. Kind of a hypocrite.
Still kind and compassionate, however, he insists that his loved ones come to him for stuff no matter how small, including when he finds out the Riders are hiding injuries from him like during RttE. Which is hypocritical of him since he's been hiding things such as a terribly burned leg from them for 3 years already at that point.
And he's still all "feelings are important" while either completely disregarding his own or hiding them.
4. Get them before they get you.
Something he's actually learned from Viggo. He believes Berk will one day turn on him like they have when he was very little and like they have turned on Toothless and the other dragons a few times because of the word and manipulation of one old and bitter man.
This Hiccup takes a little more to Viggo. He still doesn't like Viggo, but he does take his lessons to heart in a different way than canon!Hiccup does. When Viggo teaches him to be a few steps ahead of his foe, Hiccup decides to be a few steps ahead of Berk.
He knows the dragons, save for the few who's bond is strong with their human, will leave Berk if he and Toothless were to ever leave permanently.
Or he rides his hopes on this, at least. He'll play the roles Berk wants him to, he'll be their hero, the one who fixes things, and then one day he'll be their chief for however long that will last. But if Berk ever turns on him again, he plans on leaving and taking the dragons, and all the advantages that comes with having them around, with him.
He's certain that day will come and he’s put a fail-safe in place in case that happens. But until then, he does enjoy the pleasures of living in a human community.
5. Doesn't mind hurting people.
He doesn't prefer it either, but if he has to get his hands dirty, he’s more likely to do it than canon!Hiccup. He's more subtle about it from ages 15-20, but when he has to take over from his father as chief, that becomes just a bit more obvious because he feels like it's more necessary then.
6. Holds grudges more easily.
He's not as easy to forgive. When Alvin "makes up" with Stoick, he doesn't trust him and that brings their truce in danger when he becomes chief. When Dagur switches sides, it's Toothless who convinces him to give him a second chance, but the trust doesn't take a mere few weeks or months to come.
He's not as easy to forgive and betrayal makes it worse.
7. Everything is a ploy.
Whether he realizes it himself or not, at some point, everything revolves around a ploy of some kind. Whether it's which side of his personality he chooses to show, the secrets he keeps, the lies he spreads, at some point, everything comes down to a ploy. And it's purely because he feels like it's necessary.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Long story short, basically just canon Hiccup, except he's a little more hurt and more calculated then he is in canon. It’s a very exhausting existence and in the end it hurts him more than it actually helps.
And boy, won’t the Riders be hurt when they eventually find out.
I got that sorta figured out, too. Hiccup basically gets himself in trouble by stepping into a relationship that eventually becomes physical. Which means it’s only a matter of time until the burn scars the other person (or people) had no idea about are eventually revealed.
Sorry for the long wait for my reply and for the length of my reply.

Ask Explosion #9:
Asks answering previous posts:
Sabrina, I have one word of advice for you...
R U N
“Chat, please stop talking.”
“But that’s my thing!”
“YOU JINX EVERYTHING!!”
Ayyyyyy~
Well, it’s something, I suppose?
Answered this here.
It absolutely did. Bless you, kind and hilarious citizien. ;P
I’m torn because... on one hand, I want to give proper mythology and such for like--anything that’d be put into the show, but on the other, I liked the idea that Alix’s brother was just sort of a conspiracy who thought of stupid stuff (which is why I kept the concept for MC Jalil Kubdel).
Zoe did it really well in Scarlet Lady where Alix knew the actual mythology and started blurting it out whenever Jalil got it wrong.
New Asks:
Considering “Ikari Gozen,” I imagine Alya and Kagami don’t get along as well. I agree with basically everyone that Marinette and Kagami not getting along is bad, but Alya and Kagami not really getting along makes more sense and is more tolerable.
Since Alya is Marinette’s “““BFF”““ (supposedly), I could see her kind of being like, “You’re competing with my girl over the same guy,” and keeping Kagami at arm’s length, worried that keeping Kagami close will allow Kagami to be closer to Adrien since Adrien is an extension of their friend group (kinda, sorta, not really, but Marinette calling him a friend so technically--)
You know, Alya trying to be a good friend and help Marinette with Adrien in more subtle ways. It’s the wrong way to go about it but she’s trying.
LUKANETTE IS AMAZING IN TERMS OF PROGRESSION KDJNGJDFG, I ADORE IT. Every episode they share together, we either learn something new about them or see more details on their relationship.
I think I was already all-in before “Silencer,” but man, that episode just sealed it even more. I was like well dang, why does the love square even EXIST???
jfdngjkfdjgfdg
Incredible. Only problem is that the creator doesn’t know how to use it properly.
You mean fourteen year olds aren’t perfect human beings???? :o
(no, but really, that’s me all the time; like, she’s barely a teen!)
He’ll believe it if it’s Chat Noir who’s doing it. If Marinette ever does it though, he’ll be sure to shut it down. ;P
Ugggggh, the worst part is that I have the same exact fear that they really are going to be like yeah Ladybug you silly fool Chat Noir has been with you since the beginning!
I mean, we’re already basically getting that with the New York special; Chat was supposed to protect Paris and then didn’t tell Ladybug that he “had to” leave for New York (and the New York thing is inadvertently Marinette’s fault and parts of the fandom actually did blame her for it even though it was Chat’s choice not to say anything), then Ladybug gets upset with him when she discovers it mid-battle, which leads to Chat being distracted and Cataclysming someone (another thing that Ladybug can be “inadvertently” blamed for), then Chat gives up his miraculous so Ladybug isn’t even allowed to be angry and cue the later line of “I can’t imagine being Ladybug without... him.”
So clearly that’s saying something. Adrien doesn’t get anything close to that level and Marinette is chewed out for not asking him to stay when Nino had already asked him too.
It’s like--Marinette chooses to go after Adrien and then gets either nothing in return, or humiliated by the narrative, and then in the New York special, she decides to do nothing and everything still goes wrong while Alya yells at her for it. The “damned if she does, damned if she don’t,” on display is stunning. The girl tries to confess and it’s like, “no, not allowed, but Chat is allowed to confess.”
I still don’t understand this logic of his overarching plot but also “there’s not much of a timeline.” I think the only solid thing we’ve ever gotten was something about all the episodes in one season coming after all the episodes in a previous one, but there are still things that don’t add up? The only thing the season 3 production order will give is making sure the hero debuts work out (so no Viperion or Pegase before “Party Crasher,” for example).
It’s not really reliable. I mean, like--I’ve been experimenting with timelines for a while, and stuff like “Miraculer” baffles me. It’s basically non-canon with no value whatsoever. All it does is make “Heart Hunter” look even more confusing and treats Marinette even more horribly for not picking Chloe when she explicitly told Chloe that she wasn’t getting it back.
I’m not familiar with that one! Is it any good?
(Okay, I actually was too curious and ended up looking it up; fancy! I couldn’t have guessed that it was a webtoon! I started reading the 1st issue and before I knew it, I was on the 6th! Oops~)
Lila is totally Rashta, 100% agree. The fact that the comments have a nickname of “Trashta” for her, equivalent to Liar Rossi, says as much ;P
Because lessons that involve telling someone that they’re valid and allowed to feel a certain way don’t apply to Marinette. Isn’t it nice? :3
Not that I know of? Though I also don’t look for that kind of thing, so it’s possible that it exists and I just don’t know about it.
Even if it did exist thought, I don’t see a problem with you doing your own regardless. Good luck if you do!
No. No I do not. ;P
GREETINGS FELLOW INTJ!
And yeah, I’m not really capable of not analyzing shows. There are some small exceptions, but they’re usually not full shows in the normal sense. If there’s an ongoing plot, my mind tends to be working at all times.
In terms of Miraculous, Season 1 was harmless enough where I was bothered but pretty quiet about it, but then it just got progressively worse. It really feels like one of those things you can’t unsee when it finally hits you, y’know?
I’m glad I was able to help you get that satisfaction you need (and appreciate Lukanette, of course ;3)!
Non-Miraculous Asks:
(some heavy Puella Magi Madoka Magica salt below)
Wow, this is a really dedicated ask! Nice!
Gonna go point by point here:
1 - Yeah, the whole thing with Homura not “being able” to save everyone... kinda questionable, and I didn’t really buy the arguments they used to explain it away. I think there was this one PSP game or something with Madoka Magica where you could kind of choose what happened (like, there were bad ends where Sayaka didn’t get her soul gem back in time and her body was partially decayed; ick) and I think there’s a good end where Homura saves everyone but--yeah, not canon.
I just don’t care for twisted stories like that unless there is actually a good end on the horizon (and I mean like “Everyone Lives and is Happy” good end). Angst is just so exhausting so the second I saw Mami’s head being bitten I was just like, “Ah, okay, so we’re doing this then.”
2 - Eugh, the sexism thing. It’s so... yeah, and especially this because the whole “girls are emotional” thing, I don’t really care whether or not the show is trying to “subvert” or “explain” anything, it just feels like poor taste and I don’t like it. (I also didn’t know about that Death Note thing because I didn’t watch it, but geez.)
3 - Wow, I’ve been away from the show for so long that I forgot what Mami’s wish was; I thought it was to “not be alone” or something (or maybe not die alone?? I really don’t remember), but either way, the fact that it follows some sort of genie wish logic is just--*sigh*--they’re teenage girls, come on (plus, the “genie wish logic” is really overdone to me anyway).
4 - The other thing about Sayaka is that it’s really predictable that she’d “die so quickly.” Basically everything was pointing to her just being annihilated at some point, and being Madoka’s best friend, it was pretty inevitable that she’d go.
((semi-unrelated, but someone also asked me which character’s name was lied about before episode 3 hit and they wondered if it was Sayaka’s; it was Kyubey’s))
Yikes. Sorry you had to experience that.
Anyway, I guess I’m not experienced enough in multiple fandoms to say for sure? If I was ever in a fandom, I would just blacklist the people/stuff I didn’t like, so I didn’t get to see a tong of “bad things” going on.
+ I try really hard not to generalize fandoms into one thing.
𝓖𝓮𝓷𝓭𝓮𝓻 𝓝𝓸𝓻𝓶𝓼 𝓐𝓻𝓮 𝓢𝓽𝓾𝓹𝓲𝓭 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓑𝓸𝔂𝓼 𝓐𝓻𝓮 𝓐𝓵𝓵𝓸𝔀𝓮𝓭 𝓽𝓸 𝓛𝓲𝓴𝓮 “𝓖𝓲𝓻𝓵𝔂” 𝓣𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼
Oof, uhhh, shows, huh? That’s tough.
I think the main ship from Given (Mafuyu and Ritsuka) is really adorable (you might’ve seen the amusing video of their love being mutual before), and while I would’ve said the same thing for the kinda-sorta side ship, it gets--uh... really bad during the movie/rest of the manga, I’ll just say that much.
Mafuyu and Ritsuka though, totally adorable.
Inuyasha kinda? Though Inuyasha and Kagome are definitely not the kind of romantic chemistry that I lean towards (I find “the bickering couple” to be rather exhausting). Plus, Cardcaptor Sakura did the “male tsundere” better than Inuyasha did (though the Clear Card Arc was terrible, at least it’s not canon kinda-sorta? idk it seems like a mix of the anime and manga so...).
After that there’s...
uh
...
hm.
I mean, there’s probably a couple more examples somewhere, but--yeah, I’ve got nothing. Maybe if I thought back to all the generic children shows I watched when I was little (like those old Disney live-action shows; I had no taste when I was younger), there might’ve been something that satisfied kid me but idk.
I don’t remember what post inspired this, but I have no problem answering regardless, ahaha~
My main issue is Aang’s attitude about the whole thing. I’m not saying it was right of Katara to go out and get “revenge via murder” exactly, but I also think that Zuko had the right idea with allowing her to go and face the man who killed her mother so she could get some form of closure (also note that Zuko doesn’t express any sort of opinion when Katara decides not to kill him; he just wanted her to have whatever she thought she needed to heal).
It’s also the episode where Zuko directly confronts Aang on his “violence isn’t the answer” rhetoric which then goes completely ignored as Aang lionturtles his way out of the conflict. Aang is also not confronted on his point of “forgiveness is the first step to healing” (when Katara has a right not to forgive and Aang isn’t challenged outside of Katara commenting on it) and was permitted to ride his high horse when Katara “steals” Appa like, “It's okay, because I forgive you... that give you any ideas?” which is just--
reaaaaaally "holier than thou”-esque when Aang is like, ten, and Katara is a sort of motherly figure to him. The episode even has Sokka praise Aang for how “wise” he is and I groaned through the entire thing.
Another smaller thing is that it sort of makes the air kingdom look way too “perfect” by having Aang be the “source of wisedom,” especially when it’s like “violence isn’t the answer” while all the other airbenders are dead.
#((Guess who lost asks AGAIN.))#((Ugh I'm so annoyed this laptop is really giving up on me I swear.))#((I lost like fifteen.))#((Most of them were ones I was really looking forward to answering as well.))#((Basically needed an emergency restart while I was saving all of them.))#((Really sorry about that for the last fifteen or so asks I had.))#((I remember one from emikogale that involved the ideal ending of the show and that one was great.))#((and another about the fandom not really getting along that said particularly nice things but UGH.))#((If you sent me an ask recently and it's not here then it probably got washed out.))#((Because I don't recall just outright deleting anything because I didn't want to answer it.))#((I'll try to save a whole snapshot of my inbox beforehand so this won't happen again.))#((Seriously sorry.))#((Know that I saw it and likely approved of it but stuff happened and I acknowledge it's my bad.))#((Winter is just really out to get me isn't it? ugh))#character: Sabrina Raincomprix#character: Alya Cesaire#character: Marinette Dupain Cheng#character: Chat Noir#character: Sabine Cheng#category: staff#category: salt#other: non ml talk#other: ask and answer

Huge shout out to @amalthiaph for tagging me and for some great art!
1. Your favorite member of TBB is:
Tech
2. Because:
Initially, character design. I thought his armor was the coolest.
Then he started roasting people within an inch of their lives, and I knew he was my favorite.
He'll do anything for his squad (family), whether they ask him to or not.
He has an exceptional mind (his words, not mine), yet he's patient when explaining things to others and is always ready to teach someone something new.
He has that, "I'm so done yet, somehow, still care too much," vibe, which, relatable.
He's a wild yet reliable pilot, again, relatable, but apply it to driving.
And he wore jeans in Star Wars.
3. You identify the most with:
Hunter
4. Because:
Exhausted older sibling vibe.
Overthinks things to the point he ends up having to make a rash decision.
Not always right, but doing his best!!
Acts like he's in charge and trying to keep his squad out of trouble, yet always down for a shenanigan.
Would drive you wherever you need to go and take you to McDonalds afterward, all while complaining about how late it is before asking if you want ice cream too. (IDK, seems like a Hunter kind of thing to do.)
A little broody.
5. Your favorite minor character from the show:
Mayday
6. Because:
How could you not like Mayday? We got him for, like, 4 seconds, and he was tough, loyal, and just cool (no pun intended). Also, bringing Crosshair closer to the light side? Yeah, Mayday was the GOAT.
7. A TBB-centric piece or post of yours that you are most proud of:
I have a few doodles that were fun to do. Haven't posted any of it yet aside from my pfp and cover images.
8. Because:
I'm just starting to dabble in digital art, and the process is more fun when I can make art of shows and movies I love! Also, I can compare improvements better/ figure stuff out easier if I'm repeatedly drawing the same thing.
9. Link so that we can appreciate it:
Nothing to see here...
10. A TBB-centric piece of art that-slaps hard- you enjoy (and why):
This one of Tech and Crosshair from @zaana. The line work, the colors, Tech and Crosshair- *chef's kiss.* Amazing. All of her art is fantastic!
11.Link: https://64.media.tumblr.com/c898c4729aac4ebd2a5a842f3a90da5d/192684713a836c0c-be/s2048x3072/eb1b2170aba60522105f6dd27ddf524c159209c7.jpg
12. A TBB-centric fanfic that gives you life, you enjoy, (and why):
"Not-So-Perfect Vision" by AnEchoInHere. Idk if there's a Tumblr to link... It was an excellently written story with a perfect balance of action, sibling moments, and heart-wrenching scenes. 10/10, would recommend!
13. Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/39628752
14. A TBB headcanon or trope that is 100% canon to you:
Crosshair and Tech are twins.
Tech is practically blind without his goggles.
Tech is alive.
Because of his enhancements, Hunter can easily go into sensory overload.
15. Color(s) you think would suit if Crosshair gets "Mercenary" armor:
I've seen a lot of versions of this, the greens, yellows, and oranges standing out the most to me.
16. One thing you NEED to see happen in Season 3:
Just one?
1. Tech survives.
But also
2. Omega is rescued.
3. Another Cody appearance, please.
4. A happy ending. I demand it, they deserve it.
NPTs as follows (also, apologies if you have already been tagged)
@the-bi-space-ace @missfrieden @ihaventpickedausername

February 13: Star Trek Beyond
Some attempted thoughts on Star Trek Beyond.
So first it was bad lol. It is the worst. I thought maybe it would be less the worst than I had previously thought but it really, really is just irredeemably bad.
Trying to keep up with what was actually happening and talk in the group chat was too difficult and I now feel very exhausted lol. And I’m not even sure what I watched.
I liked Jaylah a lot, including her back story, characterization, “house,” traps, and cool mirror tricks.
I also like Kirk in that emergency uniform with the jacket unzipped.
That’s it! That’s all I liked.
In the past I’ve also said I liked the Spock and Bones parts but I honestly wasn’t a fan of them either this time around!
None of the characters felt IC and none of the relationships felt true or were compelling. Which is particularly egregious given that the alleged theme was strength in unity.
The movie was especially lacking in K/S content or even K & S interaction, which obviously didn’t please me. And it’s definitely the worst Kirk characterization I’ve ever seen. There’s no excuse for that either because it’s halfway through the 5YM, which means he should be pretty close to TOS Kirk--yes, he has a different set of experiences, so there’s going to be some variation, but there’s comparatively less excuse for a radically different characterization than in STXI and STID. They should have had Shatner read the script and make notes lol because whatever else you might say about him he KNOWS Captain Kirk.
Like, he (Kirk) lacked humor and charm and, often, confidence. He had moments when he was very smart and moments when he had a commanding presence. But he had just as many moments when he was whiny or bored and his Captain’s log??? I deserve financial compensation for every time I’ve listened to that. Bored of space?? No, this man is bored when he’s stuck on Earth. He stagnates in desk jobs. He is an adventurer and explorer before he’s ANYTHING else; if you don’t get that, you don’t need to be writing Star Trek.
Also, as I have frequently complained, I’m tired of him having no internal conflict or emotional complexity past his father issues. First reboot movie: dealing with his dead father’s memory and his step-father’s abuse. Fine, that makes sense for how they set up the AU. Second reboot movie: entirely motivated by the need for Manly Vengeance upon the person who killed his father figure. And for this redundant story line (in many sense) we had to lose Pike? Third reboot movie: you’d think he’d finally be ready to move on to other conflicts but actually no this time he’s sad about his birthday and having a longer life span than his...you guessed it!! father!! Yet again.
What else has ever motivated him? Legitimate question.
The destruction of the Enterprise was truly horrific. Long, boring, unwarranted, and without any emotional punch. As if it were just any ship! No, she’s a character in her own right and she’s not to be sacrificed like that but please tell me again how Simon Pegg is a true fan who brought the franchise back to its roots?
B said he did like that they split up the crew into unusual units but I have mixed feelings about it. I don’t entirely disagree, but I don’t think they did a lot that was interesting with any of those separated units. Uhura and Sulu are a cool pair (but this would have been a good opportunity to include Sulu’s semi-canonical crush on Uhura but whatever... a different rant) and they almost did some interesting stuff with them. There were glimmers of a caper in that story line and times when I could tell they were straining especially hard to make Uhura, their Sole Female Main--now that they cut out Rand, Chapel, and even Carol Marcus--into something Feminist and Interesting. But it didn’t quite gel for me. Like, Uhura would be having almost interesting dialogue with the villain and holding her own...and then she loses track of her colleague and has to watch that person die, thus undercutting everything she just said about unity and seeming to prove the villain’s point. Is she competent or not?
Bones and Spock are a pair I care about and like but again I think their canonical relationship in TOS is more interesting than STB showed. I personally read them as like...reluctant best friends who originally just had one person in common, and then realized they also like each other too, but they’ll never really say it. They understand each other but pretend not to. They have fun with the barbs they throw at each other. They both deeply love Jim but in different ways. They enjoy their intellectual debates. (That’s one thing that was definitely missing from them here! The intellectual debates!) So again, there was something there but not enough.
And Kirk and Chekov just happened to land near each other; nothing was done with that relationship per se. They really aren’t people who have much of a relationship in TOS so there’s not a lot to work off of but then on the other hand there IS an opportunity to create something new. Maybe I’m being too harsh and too vague but it just didn’t gel for me. The only specific K and C moment I remember was that supremely un-funny joke about Kirk’s aim as he sets off the “wery large bomb.”
But like there are possibilities.. they’re both pretty horny and Chekov is a whiz kid and Kirk is also very smart and has always been smart... Like in other words people Chekov’s age don’t end up on the bridge crew, in either ‘verse, without the Captain’s say, so even though he’s TOS!Spock’s and AOS!Scotty’s protege, Kirk is important to his life. Something with that maybe??
I’m upset that Spock’s individual story line was about whether or not he should go off and make baby Vulcans because, again as I have complained many times before, that was a conflict he faced and resolved in ten minutes two movies ago, and it doesn’t make sense to me for him to bring it up again now just because the Ambassador is dead. Like... the Ambassador told him to stay in Starfleet!! “Ah, yes, I will honor him by doing precisely the opposite of what he wanted me to do.”
Also--if they had made his motivation different or gone into it more, I would have been more into it. Make it about New Vulcan! Say there’s news from New Vulcan that it’s not doing well. Or what if T’Pring got in contact with him? Or what if we used this as an excuse to bring in Sarek?
This is part of a larger point for me which is that STXI set up a really cool AU and STID tried to do something with it--a little hit or miss, but it tried--and instead of pushing even more at the AU and developing it more and doing more with it... STB just ignored it! Was that part of what Paramount was warning about with making it “not too Star Trek-y?” Was it SUPPOSED to be a movie you could watch without having seen the last two? If so they did succeed but like.. .why? They made the supremely ballsy move of blowing up a founding Federation planet two movies ago and now they’ve just forgotten about that and all the reverberations that would necessarily have?
But of course we got a call back to Kirk being a Beastie Boys fan so.... Guess it was Deep all along.
We all three agreed that the core story of this film was potentially interesting but could have been done as a 50-some minute episode of a TV series rather than a whole-ass 2 hour movie. First off, cutting or cutting down the action sequences would have shaved off half an hour easily.
I’m frustrated in large part because there are certain things that are interesting here. I do like the concept of the crew being pulled on to an alien planet by a ship of former Federation crew, from the early days of the Federation/deep space flight, who were presumed missing but are somehow still alive because they have turned into aliens/used alien tech to prolong life, and who have also captured other aliens, like Jaylah, for the main crew to interact with. All of that was cool.
I would even be okay with these old Federation crew being villains but I don’t think that’s necessary or even the most interesting take.
But...first of all, as my mom pointed out, Krall was basically Nero in his illogical motivations: feeling aggrieved because someone who couldn’t help him didn’t help him and then just maniacally wanting revenge. It made more sense to me with Nero in a way. Maybe that was because he was better characterized, maybe it was because his anger was more personal (the loss of his wife), maybe--probably--it was because he was angry at Spock and Spock had actually promised to help, so there was some kernel of logic in his sense of betrayal, even if it was out of proportion etc. Also, Nero’s mania was portrayed as mania--we were all supposed to recognize that the strength of his emotion was warranted but his logic was deeply flawed. I think we were supposed to think Krall had some kinda... real criticism of the Federation, but in fact he doesn’t! He’s wrong! So like if he’d been angry with the Federation for abandoning him but the narrative and the other characters explicitly recognize that he’s wrong--the Federation tried but he was just doing something very dangerous and he recognized that danger on signing on--that might have been more palatable to me.
I’m not sure I’m making sense here entirely or explaining myself as well as I could.
I just don’t entirely get Krall’s beef with the Federation. I don’t get that whole “being a soldier and having conflict makes you strong and having people you can rely on and connections and community makes you weak.” That seems pretty obviously false. It also doesn’t really seem, not that I’m an expert, but particularly in line with military ethos either.
BUT the idea that he had a life that was comfortable to him as a soldier and then the Federation comes in and forms Starfleet and says, actually, we’re going to pull back on the soldiering and up the diplomacy and the exploration and the science--yeah, I could see that. I DO think Starfleet is military but even if you must insist it’s not, it’s clearly based on and formed from the military, and it has certain military functions. So obviously the first people to join or be folded into Starfleet probably were more explicitly military.
So he’s one of those people. Now he’s supposed to be a scientist and a diplomat and an explorer and he doesn’t like that. He’s given this very prestigious and interesting mission and jumps at it. Starfleet warns him, you might go beyond where we can reach, we might not be able to help you. That’s fine. But then when his ship is stranded and he is lost, he gets angry--maybe somewhat irrationally, but understandably--why?? Why did the Federation do this to him? What was even the point? When he put himself in danger before, at least he knew why. But just flying around space for the hell of it, and this is the cost? So that’s what creates his anger.
I thin this could be tied into Kirk’s diplomacy at the beginning--if the scene were written to not be a comedy bit where Kirk looks like an incompetent buffoon and is completely disrespectful the whole time. He’s good at this job and we should say it. But we could emphasize that this IS a diplomatic mission often, just as often as it’s a military or scientific mission. Maybe we could include other bits of their missions, too, to play up the variety of things they do and roles they play.
Another thing I think could be interesting, going back to my point about Spock, Vulcan, and using the first two movies and expanding on the world building... what if Spock wanted to leave Starfleet for better, more well-defined reasons, and we used that? Paralleled the two? Connected the two?
Because I think Vulcan in the AOS verse is very interesting and the movies didn’t do nearly enough with it. First, we have the Romulans showing up way earlier, at least visibly: in TOS, no one knew what they looked like or their connection to Vulcans until Spock is in his late 30s. In AOS, it happens not long after he’s born. So he’s growing up probably with more anti-Vulcan racism floating around the Federation. THEN Vulcan is destroyed. Now it has nothing and it needs to rely on the rest of the Federation, which must be both humbling and frustrating to many Vulcans, on top of the extreme tragedy of losing everything. Most of their population, a lot of their history, their manufacturing, their scientific facilities, their resources, their animals, literally whatever else you can think of that a planet has--all gone. Now all of the survivors have lived some period on an alien planet, by definition, and they’re probably very dependent on the Federation not just to set up the new colony, but to replace all of the resources--natural and Vulcan-made--that they lost. And they’re a founding Federation member, Earth’s first contact. They’re especially important. And now they’re weak, and reliant on others.
So maybe Spock, early on, hears from New Vulcan and they’re not doing well. Maybe we hear from Sarek or T’Pring (...I’d just like to see reboot T’Pring). Maybe it’s not about, or just about, having children, but about being from an important and ancient family, and being seen as a hero for his part in the Narada mission, that makes him want to go and help rebuild their government (taking his mother’s place perhaps? she was on the High Council) or their scientific facilities, or the VSA, or their space travel capabilities--you know Vulcan had space ships of their own, outside of Federation ships. This would be the perfect place to showcase that tension between wanting to be independent--out of pride, out of fear, even--and needing help, because Vulcan could not survive without the Federation, probably less than 10 years out from the original planet’s destruction.
And then you feed it back into Krall.
So I could see like... well the tension, and then Krall comes in, and he's angry that the Federation "abandoned" him, but we actually explicitly address this. Maybe Spock gets to interact with him and say "I get it. You had a life and a mission and a purpose that was comfortable for you. Then the Federation came in and changed everything. A lot of my people are also feeling upset for similar reasons. But here's why actually you're wrong."
So anyway as you can see I’m smarter and more interesting than Simon Pegg.
I also hated, speaking of writers of this movie, the gay Sulu thing and HEAR ME OUT on this. It’s homophobic. His husband doesn’t have a name? Might not be his husband at all? Looks like he could be his nanny or his brother? As B said “at least grab his butt or something.” That was the most sanitized, no-homo depiction of a gay person I’ve ever seen. He’s gay (see, progressives and queers! gay! you like that right!) but DON’T WORRY STRAIGHTS--he’s in a monogamous relationship and has a child, he’ll show nothing but the most platonic physical affection with his male significant other, and the plot point will be so minuscule you’ll need a microscope to detect it. Also, we’ll throw in a no homo joke about two male characters not wanting to hug and we’ll make sure Kirk and Spock interact as little as possible, because we know they give off Big Queer Vibes every time they’re together.
Yes the last point is a little unfair but can you blame me for being angry about all the “look how hip to the times we are” back-patting that went on in 2016 when canonical bisexual Kirk is RIGHT THERE and we could have had ex-boyfriend Gary Mitchell instead of Unnamed Nanny??
Also Sulu is a hella random choice because again, like... he may not have had an s.o. in TOS but nor was there any indication he was gay. So it seems a LITTLE like they picked him because (1) his original actor is gay and gay people can’t play straight people duh so probably Sulu was Gay All Along I mean did you not get vibes???; and/or (2) asexual Asian stereotypes preclude giving Sulu any kind of love interest, male or female, that is actually... sexual, outright romantic, anything.
Anyway I can’t remember if I had any other thoughts, but I’ve said quite enough I think.
I miss Kirk so much... real Kirk... even my version of AOS Kirk who is probably not even characterized that well but at least I worked with love!!!

On Elsa and “Out of Character” behavior.
Sometimes I see arguments between different groups of people in the Frozen fandom - with some people criticizing Elsa’s actions in F2 by calling them out of character and other people defending them by saying her actions are in-character. But here’s the thing - I think both groups are a little misguided. One side just wants to use anything to tear the movie down, but the other side just wants to defend the film when sometimes the people who critique it have valid issues.
First of all, I don’t agree with people who try to paint Elsa as OOC in F2 by saying that her actions make her less “refined” than in the first film. This idea of Elsa’s “refinement” feels more like stereotypical headcanon than canon.
In F1, Elsa feels liberation when standing in the free air, without the weight of queenship weighing upon her. Thus, in F2, her choice to stay in the Forest could parallel that if written well.
The trouble is, for some reason, F2 decides to write a narrative where Elsa’s own desires and sense of self are not the catalyst for her journey to explore herself. Her mother’s Voice is the catalyst, so instead of telling a story where Elsa drives herself forward, the film tells a story where Elsa is led by larger forces beyond her control. This becomes worse when we factor in the origin of Elsa’s powers. They’re “a gift” for her mother’s action and while we’re supposed to see that in a positive light, I just don’t.It feels like Elsa being forced on a path in life before she was even born - a path that doesn’t come from her but instead comes from her mother. The destiny narrative makes Elsa a pawn - and I know I’m not “supposed” to read the film that way, but there is textual evidence to support my perspective. The fact her powers are tied to her mother rescuing her father and not to Elsa herself. The fact that the spirits decided these things for Elsa because how could Elsa decide while still in the womb?
When people use superficial reasons like Elsa’s “refinement” to call her OOC, they sometimes criticize Anna being queen and treat that as OOC for Anna - but I’ve personally always liked Queen Anna. I feel the role suits Anna and that she makes a capable leader, making tough decisions in difficult times across both F1...
and F2.
So I don’t think the superficial readings of either sister being OOC are true.
But here’s the thing - I DO think that Elsa comes across as somewhat OOC in F2 compared to F1, just not in a way that the superficial readings ever get across. Let me explain.
In F1, we see over and over again that Elsa is deeply and sensitively attuned to Anna’s emotions.
When Anna is in pain, Elsa feels it. She doesn’t want to hurt Anna - either physically OR emotionally.
And when she does hurt Anna emotionally, it breaks Elsa’s heart. F1 makes clear over and over that Elsa doesn’t want to do this - makes clear over and over that Elsa understands the terrible emotional pain Anna undergoes because Elsa has felt a pain akin to it.
Look at the look in Elsa’s eyes in the screencap where Anna is walking away. You can see such anguish in Elsa’s eyes, such regret. If Elsa felt like she safely could, she’d reach out in a heartbeat.
Over and over, the first film stresses that Elsa understands Anna’s emotional pain, that it hurts her more than anything to hurt Anna emotionally even as Elsa feels like she has to do that because of how she has been raised.
And then comes F2 and Elsa’s connection to Anna’s emotions... lessens to some degree.
It’s still there in this moment. Elsa clearly hates doing this.
But we don’t get to pause on Elsa’s emotions. We don’t get to linger with them.
The next time we see Elsa is here:
When I first saw this moment in the theater, it felt... abrupt. This was the scene that was in all the trailers, and when you watch the trailers, you think something will lead up to this.
And then the film just cuts directly to this moment. It just... happens, with only the conversation from before as build-up - only conversational exposition.
We don’t get to pause to breathe with Elsa, to have the full weight of her reflection after sending Anna and Olaf away. She must have reflected on that as she made her way to the Dark Sea and it must have hurt... but we don’t get to... see it.
We don’t get to see an incredibly crucial emotional moment that could show Elsa reflecting on Anna’s pain and Elsa’s own pain.
We just cut to this and focus on Elsa being... Awesome.
And then we get Show Yourself, and Show Yourself is all about Elsa’s joy and validation... and in the process, Elsa reflecting on Anna’s pain gets pushed to the wayside.
Now, in the past, I’ve gotten angry at Elsa for this - because it felt acutely OOC to me for Elsa to... lose sight of Anna’s pain in such a way.
And when I got angry, anti-Elsa people jumped on my anger and tried to use it to justify their agenda - and I don’t want that.
You see, anti-Elsa people try to frame this as, “Well, Elsa is just Like That. She pushed Anna away for her safety before and now she’s doing it again.” Anti-Elsa people treat Elsa like she’s just... naturally callous.
My point is not theirs. My point is that Elsa (at least, the Elsa we see in F1) is NOT “Like That.”
In F1, we see over and over that Elsa is not naturally callous. We see so much how Elsa connects with Anna on an emotional level.
From my perspective, the anti-Elsa sentiment is just as shallow as the people who throw around the word “refinement.”
But in F2, Anna kind of gets... dropped from Elsa’s journey. The focus becomes Show Yourself, and then Elsa freezes.
I know that I struggle with these scenes because I feel for Anna so much, because I agree with Anna’s perspective and her desire to protect Elsa, because I disagree with Elsa’s choice to go on alone. (Again, my disagreeing doesn’t mean I’m saying that Elsa is a bad person the way anti-Elsa folks do. I know that Elsa loves Anna and wants to protect her. I just... wish the two characters could have resolved the matter in a different way, through communication and through love. And I’m not saying the conflict of Elsa’s decision and Anna and Olaf’s anger was bad. It’s actually a really intriguing scene where the characters all kind of right and kind of wrong. There’s depth there... but my problem is the film doesn’t really explore that depth later on. We don’t get the sisters talking together about the emotional crises that drive them.
We don’t get... anyone... talking together that much. Elsa and Anna seem on different wavelengths, Anna and Kristoff seem on different wavelengths. Miscommunication is a plot device. And I know you’re going to tell me that it’s supposed to be mature, that it’s supposed to reflect the characters’ trauma - and it does reflect that trauma incredibly well, but...
I just want to see the broken people I saw forming a family being able to communicate in a positive way for more than the last several minutes at the end. I don’t care about the maturity of miscommunication that translates into surface-level scenes. There’s as much maturity in a family healing together than in reopening wounds for drama’s sake.
So maybe, my use of the term “OOC” is wrong. Maybe it’s not OOC for Elsa to go on alone (because she wants to protect those she loves dearly), but the rushed nature of the following scenes don’t allow the emotional impact of that particularly complex scene to land. Instead of letting us feel its full weight, the film moves to other things.
I’ve praised the slow, brooding pace of F2 before, but at times the pacing can still be rushed. So maybe it’s not a characterization problem but a pacing problem.
Still, I... I can’t shake the feeling that F2 presupposes that Anna is in the wrong - and I just disagree with that presupposition.
The film frames Anna as though she has to learn something. She gets the chance to reflect on her life in aching and beautiful clarity in The Next Right Thing. The film has her apologize directly to Kristoff for leaving him behind because she was just “so desperate to protect” Elsa. And because of that, the term “codependency” gets thrown around - often by anti-Elsa folks who have weaponized the term.
Here’s the thing though. Anna has an incredibly understandable and rational position in F2. She doesn’t knw what is going on. All she knows is Arendelle could be in danger, her sister has been hearing this voice and hasn’t told her, her sister could be in danger, and Pabbie has further entrusted her with keeping Elsa safe.
Not wanting your only surviving family to die when they are put in a position where they are forced to do incredibly dangerous things is not codependency. “I don't want to stop you from being whatever you need to be. I just don't want you dying, trying to be everything for everyone else too. Don't do this alone,” is actually an incredibly clear-sighted perspective.
I don’t know. When Elsa is forced into extremes in F2, it’s often framed as heroic - and oftentimes, it is heroic. Seeking the truth about Runeard at the expense of her own life is an incredibly noble, compassionate, and heroic thing for Elsa to do. When Anna goes to extremes to protect Elsa, it’s framed as... desperation. Even though I just want to desperately cry to the screen sometimes, “But Anna is in the right, Anna is in the right, Anna is in the right...”
Maybe my mind has been exhausted by different factions in the fandom trying to place blame. maybe fandom in general is too focused on judging characters and so that hurts the discourse because we have people judging and condemning Anna as a character and judging and condemning Elsa.
Maybe Frozen 2 means to be broadly humanistic, with the characters all being partly right and partly wrong, so we can empathize and love them all. If so, that’s beautiful.
But I don’t like the presupposition that Anna is “too desperate” and I don’t like how that’s beaten home for her in such a torturous way. Maybe I just empathize with Anna too much and I see my pain in her pain across F2 and so the film just hurts to watch.
Maybe it’s because I wanted to see this family talking together openly instead of going on individual journeys of self-discovery.
I know I’m speaking from a personal place here - because the bond the sisters have (especially in F1) means the world to me and is among the most beautiful connections I have seen in fiction, so I’m sensitive about it.
But I needed to get these thoughts out.

Frozen - Domestic Assassin (Crack AU) Masterpost
This is a Masterpost of all the fanfiction I’d written (all on Tumblr) based in @ultranos’ Domestic Assassin crack AU which was hilarious for a fairly good-sized group of us! And from what I”ve seen in my notifications, people are still enjoying and finding fics of mine in this AU even to this day, which is great!
I’ve basically dug into my previous fanfiction pages and pulled them out year by year, so because it’ll be way too much work to try and arrange everything by title, I just went by year. At least Tumblr keeps the links when I copy and paste.
Since there are so many, you’ll find them under the cut. Enjoy!
Pre-2016
Air Mattress Prompt
An exhausted Anna returns home from a hot night with Kristoff only to accidentally make her sister fly off the air mattress when she flops down on it for a sleep.
“Am I supposed to be alarmed by the moon tonight?” prompt
Elsa is so exhausted she gets confused between the sun and moon apparently.
“Can we please stop fighting and talk about the koala in your room?”
Elsa adopted a koala, much to Anna’s exasperation.
“Can you pull this fake cobweb across the door?” Halloween prompt
Anna wants to play a prank on Elsa...
Cell Block Sniper (M - violence and strong language)
Yes. Yes. It’s a crossover. A crossover between “Cell Block Tango” song from Chicago and this AU.
“Do you realise what this means?” “That you’re a really bad shot?”
Elsa is NOT having the best of time trying to instruct a new trainee.
Domestic Assassin AU prompt: Hans’ POV (pre-reveal)
Hans has a visit from Elsa when he dumps Anna.

Elsa was bound to fall out of a tree at some point and end up in hospital. Anna takes care of her.
Elsa and Weselton prompt
Elsa refuses to let Weselton in the door.
Eyes That Glisten
Anna knows how to persuade Elsa to do whatever she wants.
“God you’re such a grumpy bags in the morning aren’t you?”
Elsa is not a happy camper after a long night where everything just goes wrong. “Holy shit. Most realistic Dementor costume ever.” Halloween prompt
Turns out, Elsa just looks like that most of the time.
“I can’t help being a geek about my vital signs!” prompt (Elsarik)
A crossover between another AU (Shardsverse)
“I don’t think I should tell you what we’re dressed as.” (Halloween Prompt)
Somebody think of the children!
“I dropped my cookie :’(”
Elsa cries when she drops her cookie.
“I feel like a T-Rex”
Anna is too lazy to just grab the goddamn stepladder and get the jam herself.
“I wish I could drive you out of my life with a sword!” (Hans and Anna, prompt)
Anna is NOT a fan of Hans...
“Maybe you should go as an assassin. Oh wait, you already are one.” (Halloween prompt)
Anna is a sarcastic little sister to Elsa.
“No one unfollows like Gaston!”
Anna overhears Gaston boasting about how he unfollowed someone because of a disability. She is not happy.
Ruined Dinner Party
After an hour of waiting for her sister to come to the party, Anna finally spots her with “ketchup” all over her top.
Part 2 of “Ruined Dinner Party”
Of course it wasn’t ketchup. Duh. Anna is NOT HAPPY.
Sleepyhead (drabble, Snow Sisters)
Elsa, going to the kitchen for midnight munchies, spots Anna sprawled on a couch, textbooks all around her.
“So. Many. Triangles. Help me here!”
Anna, not being a maths-y person, gets frustrated with geometry, and Elsa offers to help.
“So you’re going as yourself for Halloween.” Halloween prompt
Elsa is not keen on dressing up as Halloween.
“Tell our parents my Tumblr URL and I swear I will make your death look like an accident” prompt.
Elsa practically threatens Anna when the latter demands to explain her Tumblr URL (of course she quickly forgives her little sis.)
“That mask is all kinds of creepy. I like it.” Halloween prompt
Elsa practically shits herself when Anna scares her while wearing a terrifying mask.
Things you said at 4am prompt
Anna gets a call at 4am on her phone from Elsa, who accidentally sniped the wrong guy..
Those Poor Birds
Elsa mistakes a pair of birds’ mating antics as fighting, much to Anna’s amusement.
“Wait, you’re yelling at a movie?” (Snow Sisters, writing prompt)
Elsa is very confused to find that Anna’s yelling from the lounge is at a movie. Not at an invader.
“Was it really necessary to shoot my pumpkin carving?” (Halloween prompt)
Anna is NOT happy when Elsa decides to use her pumpkin carving for shooting practice.

Anna discovers that her German chocolates had been opened by Elsa, who’d handed them out to kids.
“Where did you leave the spare copy of that book?” (Elsarik DA!verse, prompt)
Crossing over with another writer’s AU with her OC, Alarik. Elsa can’t find that one specific book she needs, and she’s sure Alarik has it.
“You once asked me what I’d do if I had only one day left.” prompt
Anna will most definitely NOT be spending that final day of her life with Hans.
“You did what?!” prompt (Elsa and Kristoff)
Elsa does not appreciate Kristoff’s concern over her having WAY too many cats for one house.
“You mean a line segment.” prompt
Elsa is a huge geometry nerd, even waiting in line for takeaways.
“You should go as an assassin. Oh wait. You already are one.” prompt
Another one where Anna suggests Elsa goes as an assassin for Halloween, only to be all “oh wait, you are one.”
2016
Accidental shooting
Elsa accidentally shoots someone she did not mean to shoot in a library’s basement.
Amuse Me
Elsa’s having one of those blah days and Anna’s there with bad puns all ready to go.
“Bittersweet and Strange” (not based on a prompt)

“Can’t I at least take this baby koala home?”
Anna, no, you cannot take a koala home from Australia, no matter how cute it is.

Kristoff discovers Elsa’s huge photo album of her cats.
“Did you lose your main point…”
Anna hears something about money and bills and wait what now.
“Do nurses ever fall asleep on the night shift?”
Anna visits Elsa in hospital and inevitably someone has to wonder this. Elsa’s adorbs when she’s pouty and Anna can’t help but annoy her on this count.
Fight Me
One sister challenges another to a fun boxing game.
“How did you get these bruises?”
A crossover with another writer’s canon OC, Alarik (”Elsarik”) where he asks how she got some bruises while on the job.
“How many cats are in bed with you?”
Anna marvels that there are nine cats in bed with Elsa.
“I don’t think you’re supposed to have the whole packet at once.”
Do not eat a whole bag of coffee. Do not.
I Have Found My People (not based on a prompt)
Elsa has discovered that certain Scandinavian countries drink the most coffee in the world and wants to migrate there right now.
“I know you don’t want this but it’s for your own good…”
Kristoff is rightly concerned when he finds that Elsa had thirty cups of coffee in 48 hours. Do not do this at home.
“I, uh, kinda dropped it in the water.”
Elsa calls Anna to tell her there’s an emergency: she dropped her wallet in the sea and all the fish now have her personal information.
“I want a Venusian day…”
Elsa tries to explain to Anna why she would not want to live on Venus. Anna doesn’t give a fuck. More hours in the day what’s not to love about that?

Elsa is enthralled by a photo of the Cat’s Paw Nebula she has found on the laptop.
Of Monkeying Around and Going Ape (not based on a prompt)
Anna comes home to discover that Elsa has adopted a monkey that had been neglected by its owner. Even Anna is almost (I said, ALMOST) tempted to keep the monkey but her common sense reigns.
“Oh so you were in my bed this whole time?” (nsfw)
Dontcha hate when you’re in the middle of coitus and your goddamn cat has to interrupt you? (Elsarik, with another Frozen writer’s (@patricia-von-arandel) OC for Elsa)
“Once we start tickling, we can’t stop!” (nsfw)
Another steamy one with an old abandoned OC of mine (Jannike), where they find themselves having a quickie while the boss is away.
Rubbish Day (not based on a prompt)
Anna is horrified to find a rubbish bag gone and trails of what suspiciously looks like blood leading outside. Turns out some meat thrown in there leaked inside.
“The best way to get rid of your ex…”
Anna didn’t think that Hans Westerguard would ever end up on Elsa’s targets to “take care of”. Until he does.
The One Time Elsa Caught Anna “Studying” (not based on a prompt)
Anna uses the mirror in the bathroom to practice distinguishing teeth for a medical exam. Elsa suggests alternatives.
“What is this owl doing in our bathroom?”
Of course Elsa would adopt an owl and want to keep it in the bathroom. Of course.
“Who dances in the rain anyway?”
Elsa comes home to discover Anna dancing in the rain.
“Why is there an otter in our kitchen?”
Anna comes home to find that Elsa has “adopted” an otter from a “client”. As you do.
“Why would you wish to be at a backpackers?”
Elsa and Alarik (Shards AU, Elsarik) decide to stay at a backpackers together for some private time.
“Yes, yes the cold doesn’t bother you…”
Anna is not impressed with Elsa standing in the snow when she has a major cold.
2017
The Blood of White Men (not based on a prompt)
As Elsa’s favourite song goes, he had it comin’ all along.
Is the Earth Broken? (not based on a prompt)
Elsa is confused about why the day she thought it was today...actually isn’t. She convinces herself the Earth has somehow broked.
“It won’t be high tide you said…”
Elsa needs to learn that reading yesterday’s newspaper’s high tide times is not helpful.
Kittens on Saturn (not based on a prompt)
Elsa hopes there’s actual giant kittens on Saturn after seeing a graphic manipulation on an astronomy news site.
Of Singing Humpback Whales and Rock Trolls
Kristoff visits Elsa in hospital while Anna’s busy with other things. It...does not go as expected. Poor Kristoff.
“Proboscis Monkeys look ridiculous…”
Anna’s exasperation at Elsa rescuing a Proboscis monkey is still not so great that she can’t help but wonder what would happen if you honked their nose. Anna NO.
“She’s going to kill you.”
Kristoff knows his days are numbered when he spills carrot juice all over Elsa’s brand new rifle. Uh oh.
“There’s a perfectly good reason for all these kittens.”
Turns out Elsa decided to adopt some kittens left on the side of the road when they’re already over-run with cats.
“This is extreme, even for you.”
Elsa is so addicted to her coffee she’s begun pouring them into wine bottles, as you do.
2018
Elsa brings home a parrot
Anna discovers that Elsa has “rescued” a very large, very loud parrot from one of her, ahem, “clients”.
Elsa’s Back Up Cat, Mushu
Anna discovers one of the cats apparently reading a book, and much to her consternation, Elsa explains he’s for back up.
“Oh what a circus!” photo prompt
Anna takes her still-bewildered-after-five-coffees sister to the circus. This may or may not turn out to be a great idea.

Childhood Friends AU: MariKim
Part 2- in which the class discovers the MariKim friendship
You can find Part 1 here
Here is background head canons about their families
-it started in the wake of a disaster
-Francois DuPont is a magnet for crazy shit, to the point that many students are starting to become immune to some of the more mild occurrences
-a giant boulder crashes through the window one day and rolls across the room and out the door, crushing the front row of desks in the process and passing inches from Ms. Bustier
-students scream and jump, more in surprise than actual fear at this point, but back away from the windows (Marinette and Adrien both immediately dash out of the room)
-all except Chloe, who didn’t move a muscle when the boulder flew through the window, and Sabrina lays praise on her like usual
“Wow, Chloe, you’re so brave. You weren’t shocked or scared at all when that boulder flew right past you!”
“Pff, Sabrina, I’m Queen Bee, the only thing that could shock me is if Ladybug turned out to be some weakling like Dupain-Cheng”
-The class is used to ignoring Chloe at this point
-Except Kim is high on adrenaline and doesn’t want to listen to Chloe insult his friend when she isn’t even here to defend herself
-Tells Chloe to shove it
“Marinette is super brave! Remember that traffic akuma from two weeks ago? she ran straight at it so the class could get away. Last week, Marinette literally saved you from the lunch lady you akumatized by throwing a chair at her. And bravest of all, yesterday when I accidently broke one of my mom’s sculptures, Marinette took the blame for me!”
-Chloe is not impressed, “Of course you of all people would come to her defense. If she impresses you so much why don’t you go back to being best friends with her instead of glasses over there?”
-Kim is visibly confused “I…what are you talking about? I never stopped being best friends with Marinette?”
-Chloe is more focused on the dirt that’s on her sweater at this point. She rolls her eyes and drags Sabrina off to the bathroom to makeout clean her sweater
-Alya, who had been getting ready to jump into the argument, is looking more confused than Kim.
“What do you mean you’re best friends with Marinette? Everyone knows that Max is your best friend, and Marinette is mine.”
(Alya is just a bit jealous, because she’s still the ‘new kid’ and while she gets along with the other girls in the class, she’s not super close with them)
-Now Kim is really lost. “Uh, Max isn’t my best friend?”
- :0
“Kim! How could you say that, he’s right there! Max are you okay?”
-Max is also confused. “Yes? Why would I not be? It would be illogical of me to expect Kim to call me his best friend when he is not mine.”
-the classes current mental statues: ??*confusion*???
-Nino is the voice of reason, “Who’s you’re best friend then Max?”
“Markov of course! I spent years programming him, he knows everything about me, and I know everything about him.”
-Markov’s eyes turn into hearts for a moment. “I concur, Max is also my best friend!”
-The class is fucking exhausted, Kim is beaming at Alya
“Wait, but that doesn’t explain how Marinette is your best friend! You never even talk to each other.”
-Nino is subtly trying to get Alya to stop, but when Alya hears something that doesn’t add up she pushes until she learns the truth. It’s great for a journalist, but it lands her in some embarrassing situations sometimes.
-Kim is flabbergasted. The idea of him and Marinette not being bffs is so foreign to him that his brain physically can’t process it. He opens and closes his mouth like a fish trying to figure out where to begin explaining their history
-Alix rolls her eyes and comes to his rescue. “Those two dorks have been tight since before primary school. Be glad they don’t act like best friends, trust me, I went to primary school with them and they almost burned the building down.”
“Hey! That was…Marinette’s fault.”
“What was my fault?”
-Marinette is back, the class was so absorbed in the drama they didn’t even notice ladybug defeating the akuma right outside the window
-Kim is a smug bastard. “Burning down our primary school”
“WHAT! I PREVENTED you from burning the school down. You lit a match in the art FULL OF PAPER MACHE SCULPTURES!”
“Uh-huh, and when you blew the match out you dropped it in the trash, that was full of paper. Which then caught on fire.”
-This argument lasts for several minutes while Ms. Bustier recovers from the shock of almost being flattened by a giant rock
-She decides she needs to medicate with a bottle of vodka, so class is cancelled for the rest of the day
-No one tells Marinette about the argument that happened just before she walked in
-Alya watches as Marinette and Kim walk into the bakery together
-Rose swoons, “That’s so sweet. Do you think they’ll date? It would be so romantic!”
-Juleka nods in agreement, secretly hoping they do so that she can ask them for pointers on how to ask out your best friend
-Nino been knew, so he doesn’t say anything and just asks Alya if she wants to go to the movies
-Adrien got back after Marinette and has no idea what is happening
-Likewise, Ivan was listening to music and didn’t even realize an argument happened.
-Nathaniel is hit with sudden inspiration for his comic and rushes off to write it all down before he forgets
-Max and Alix…don’t care. They already knew and are more surprised by their classmate’s surprise than anything else
-Lila mentally makes Kim her new target
Why the class didn’t realize Mari and Kim are such good friends:
1. Most of them didn’t go to the same primary school as Mari and Kim. The only people who went to their primary school were Chloe, Nino, and Alix. But even then, Chloe didn’t arrive until the second year of primary school and Nino didn’t transfer until the fourth year.
Alix was there the first year, but was constantly switching schools when she was younger due to her father traveling for work. She doesn’t come to Francois Dupont until the second year when her father takes a permanent position at the louve so that she can stay at the same school for a while
2. For the first two years at their Lycee they were in different classes. No one saw them interact much at school. They ate lunch together, but most of the time they went to Marinette’s house for it since it was so close.
and sure Marinette went to Kim’s games consistently, but no one else did so they had no way of knowing just how often Mari went. And the few times other students went to the games they just assumed Marinette was there for the whole team. Because Mari’s just nice like that.
3. Even when they were in the same class again, they didn’t hang out. This is partly due to the classes’ own perceptions, they already don’t think Mari and Kim are tight, but both are friendly people so they don’t find it strange when they wave at each other or have small conversations before and after class.
Plus they have other friends. The two years in different classes did them some good. They learned that they don’t have to constantly be hanging out. They see each other enough outside of school that they figure they can use their in-class time to hang out with their other friends.
4. The Class is Oblivious. This is almost the same as the previous point, but slightly different. Whether or no Marinette and Kim are friends doesn’t really matter, it wouldn’t change anything in the eyes of their classmates, so no one is bother trying to figure out how close they are.
They don’t see them interact much so they assume they aren’t close
This is gonna be the last part, but I couldn’t resist that Lila bit, so there’s gonna be a Part 3 ig lol
Also, look out for my upcoming post about Max and Markov’s deep friendship lmfao

Little Effort for LGBTQ Representation in a “Maximum Effort” Superhero Movie
In comic books, one of my favorite characters is and has always been Deadpool. He is “popularly known to be pansexual and isn't particularly choosy about the gender of his partner, much like he has no particular affinity to anything. While this wasn't reflected in the 2016 film starring Ryan Reynolds, both Reynolds and director Tim Miller have hinted that this might come up in the sequel” (Vijaykumar, 2016). After watching it, I feel that the movie succeeds on some marks for giving out adequate LGBTQ representation, but not for the character one might expect. The movie Deadpool 2centers around Wade Wilson’s “one or two moments” that make him an (anti)hero. After losing his love Vanessa from the first movie, Wade finds himself attempting to create the X-Force in order to protect Russell, a mutant teenager from Cable, an experienced and genetically enhanced time-traveling soldier on a quest for revenge. Most of the movie focuses on the drama that ensues after Deadpool’s vain attempt to die is foiled by his own mutant abilities, his grudging acceptance of life and a sense of responsibility for Russell only to then (spoiler alert!) die. Except he doesn’t. Yet, in all of the CGI fights and snarky comments and constant breaking of the fourth wall, the movie does actually manage to discuss some elements of LGBTQ identities and representation. There are two main topics surrounding LGBTQ issues that the movie Deadpool 2 focuses on: the alleged hypersexuality of bi/pansexual people and alternatively, the de-sexualization of queer couples already in a relationship. Deadpool’s‘R’ rating and the characters’ own desire to “Fuck Wolverine” by getting better ratings in the second film took away from the potential of better, full-fledged LGBTQ representation stemming from the titular character, however, the film manages to cover up some of its pitfalls by succeeding in portraying a healthy lesbian relationship between one of the already established characters in the franchise and threading subtleties that condemn conversion therapy and argue for acceptance of others.
At the start of the film, Deadpool makes a valiant, but luckily, unsuccessful attempt at suicide with the first two words being “Fuck Wolverine.” This merges directly into his habit of breaking the fourth wall and speaking directly to the audience and promising that he’ll be dying in this film too. Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds then goes on to explain what led up to this moment which can be quickly summed up as the love of his life, Vanessa, was killed and he feels responsible for her death. The fact that Deadpool only begins to show more signs of a queer sexuality after Vanessa (his love from the entire first movie dies) indicates that being queer means exhausting every other opportunity of expressing yourself. Without the director and actor Ryan Reynolds discussing it in interviews, the average viewer would have been largely unaware of Deadpool’s canon queer identity in the comics. GLAAD actually gave the first movie some flack for its “veiled references” to Deadpool’s sexuality, however, the second film does not seem to take the subject much further (Romano, 2018). It is easy to view Deadpool’s flirtatious manner with Colossus as simply a moment of weakness and used as a joke, rather than an affirmation of his queer identity and sexuality.

The other, more direct aspect of LGBTQ identity that is given in the movie is between Negasonic Teenage Warhead and her girlfriend, Yukio. The following scene occurs just prior to Deadpool’s confrontation with Colossus.

“The power-couple proves groundbreaking, proving to be the first truly open, explicitly LGBT couple in superhero cinema” (Armstrong, n.d.). Despite this being the first out relationship in a Hollywood movie, the moment isn’t treated like a groundbreaking moment. In some ways, this could be seen as negative, because it isn’t treated like a big deal, but Armstrong argues that it could also be a way of trying to prevent alienating viewers by “mak[ing] any LGBT representation too visible [then] make certain audiences uncomfortable” (n.d.).
In the article from Scott, Darieck & Fawaz, the authors explore queerness using the X-Men as an example (2018). The queerness in X-Men characters is even more pronounced for certain individuals, such as Iceman who are actually labeled as gay/bi/pansexual, alongside of Deadpool. There is a scene in the second X-Men movie in which Iceman “comes out” to his parents, except rather than dealing with sexuality, it is about his mutant status (Puchko, 2018).

Exchange the word “gifted/mutant” for “gay” in the previous clip, and the movie would have passed for solid LGBTQ representation. This movie was filmed before “the character Iceman realizes that he has been in the closet after his younger self confronts his older self in Uncanny X-Men (in a messy time-travelling episode)” (Vijaykumar, 2016), but the franchise as a whole still works to entice LGBTQ viewers for the marginalization that mutants feel in society that mirrors the lack of acceptance for LGBTQ individuals. Going back to the film, although Deadpool 2fails at giving enough exposure and time to focus on Deadpool’s pansexuality, it still adopts many of the themes from previous X-Men movies that argue for acceptance alongside of Negasonic’s relationship with Yukio. The movie provides its own anxious teen serving as a symbol for queer youth and their fight against with bigoted condemnation through flame-throwing Russell Collins” (Puchko, 2018). Russell, or “Firefist” lashes out in violence because of the torture suffered at the hands of Essex House’s mutant-hating headmaster whose techniques are similar to real-life “pray away the gay” conversion therapy (2018). Given that Russell is seen purely as a victim, regardless of the violence he instigated and the reckless choices he made that led to Cable searching for revenge against him in the first place show how damaging the lack of acceptance is for people in marginalized communities. Russell was persecuted because of his mutant status, and despite the film not exploring the canon texts of queer visibility in the comics in any nuanced way, it still provides some representation what is still a hilarious movie.
I only just recalled the Celine Dion music video that came out before the movie that Deadpool did a music video to and is the song for the very Bond-esque opening credits for this movie. Check it below, both the music video and the opening credits.

Given that I’ve read the Deadpoolcomics, I saw the moments where Wade is flirting with Colossus as an affirmation of his sexuality in the most “Deadpool way,” that is, ridden with crude humor and sexual overtones. However, it is understandable to me where audiences would downplay those moments because the movie does not return to them or make them “a big deal,” when it needs to be in order to provide a critical and engaged LGBTQ character. Additionally, Deadpool’s character is very much an anti-hero. Although we see him have a couple heroic moments in this movie, he is still a mercenary who has a murder tally in the hundreds for the movies and thousands in comic books, which doesn’t bode well for overall positive LGBTQ representation. Also, given that the network Fox was subsequently bought out by Disney just prior to this movie’s release makes me concerned for the future of Deadpool and the X-Force as a whole because of Disney’s now long-running trick of the presenting their “first” LGBTQ character appearing in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scene in recent movies (Beauty and the Beast, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Onward). Personally, I identify as pansexual, so seeing a superhero movie where it was at least alluded to more directly, alongside an explicit lesbian couple appearing on-screen simply gives me great joy although I definitely want to see Hollywood go further in how it portrays queer characters. My biggest issue with the movie was actually that the character Yukio has already been portrayed in X-Men films and is actually at one point, dating Wolverine. Therefore, her relationship with Negasonic does not make any sense if one follows the movies and comics very closely, however, it is a sin I was willing to forgive because other than Yukio’s rather small presence in other movies, she shines in Deadpool 2.
