Kristoff Lullaby is such a perfect song to describe Ricky, it’s insane?

He was the boy hated changed. He was the boy who couldn’t say I love you back. He was the boy who regressed when the new girl, who he liked, left. He was the boy who got back with his ex because everything in his life was different and changing and she was the last pilar of stability in his life.

“How much I've changed 'cause of you”

So to have Ricky sing this about Gina really shows his growth and truly.. it truly just shows he’s changed BECAUSE he met her. Gina was the change he needed. She was that person who could relate to what he was going through, but also showed him change didn’t have to be a bad thing.

While back with Nini, he realized he didn’t like who he was becoming because he couldn’t let go of that fear of change. He let her (and his past) go and he’s now finally free. Now that he’s freed from his fears, he’s realized Gina was his person all along.

He now openly and proudly calls himself a theater person. that wouldn’t have been possible without gina, and the show has confirmed that. the way he’s also just strengthening relationships with seb, carlos, and jet says so much. he’s put others first all summer and it’s so satisfying to see. ricky is genuinely just a better person because he met gina. He’s his goofy self again who just wants to have a summer of fun with his silly, little theater friends. and guess who also wants to have a summer of fun? yeah gina :). contradicting what she told ej during her breakup “We’re having two completely different summers.” and guess who’s having the same summer. Yeah ricky and gina!

“What do I know about love? Everything I thought I did. You've gone and changed it, kid. You're what I know about love.”

So funny how the show had them sing a song together asking the other what they know about love. anna/gina stating that love can be impulsive and rushed and romanticizes the idea of fast love and getting to know your partner while they’re already together, while kristoff/ricky tells her love isn’t easy, it takes work and time and it can’t be rushed. paralleling pw vs rina.

Now we have ricky singing directly to gina that she’s what he knows about love.

He’s now trying to be a better theater person FOR Gina. He’s strengthening his relationship with her in whatever way possible because despite being in love with her, he wants her happiness to be first, therefore he’s content with just being her friend. He shows and stays around: showing up to camp, going ghost hunting with her, telling her he’s proud of her, doing everything to be the best Kristoff so she show goes perfect for her, tells jet off when he missed rehearsal, is her shoulder to cry on when she’s frustrated ej isn’t being open with her, is memorizing all his lines to the point that ashlyn notices, is there for her basketball triumph, helps her set up her promposal for her boyfriend, includes her in his bucket list adventure, notices shes upset and tries to make her laugh across the dance floor at prom, and many, many, many more examples of ricky stepping up and being the boy who shows up and stays around for gina. he even refuses to tell her about the documentary confession because he found out she had just broken up with ej and didn’t want to overwhelm her.

The writers went crazy picking Frozen. Because Ricky truly has changed in the best way because of Gina and she really is what he knows about love (same goes for her about him) and that’s so, so beautiful.
