[Fair warning, by the end of this I will have gone full on conspiracy theory, okay. So you have been warned.
I saw some fan edits, a bunch of them actually, today, that all had scenes from the bachelor party. And I have no idea why this thought never occurred to me before, and I don’t know if anyone else has ever said anything like this, but what the fuck was the point of the bachelor party from a storytelling point of view.
Near as I can tell, the only purpose it had was to give us a whole bunch of Buddie content. Because, it didn’t have anything to do with Chim’s conflict. He didn’t 1. go missing because of the bachelor party, 2. no one who would have spent the night before his wedding with him was distracted by the bachelor party: Hen went to the bachelor party, went home with her wife after. Albert? Not there at all. Bobby didn’t go to the party. Buck? Probably would have spent the night before his sister’s wedding with his sister, if anyone. Eddie? Maybe, maybe would have spent the time with Chim, but I kind of doubt it.
So, what was the point? Anything that was kind of linking the two could have been done some other way. Buck and Eddie could have been the ones to go to the hotel, still try to find Chim, realize he’s not there, now they have to go back to the venue and tell Maddie, “like, he’s not there, we don’t know where he is.”
So, what was the point? Here’s where the conspiracy theory comes in. I’m really, really... I’m starting to wonder if they filmed that intending for it to be used later. They filmed all that content to be used at a later date. They had to put some of it in the episode because, you know, it cost money, it was a pretty big deal, but they filmed so much bachelor party and I don’t work in TV but that seems like an insane amount of content to film. I don’t remember the exact numbers, but I remember thinking that’s like a whole extra episode almost that got left on the cutting room floor apparently.
What if it didn’t get left on the cutting room floor? What if it was never intended to be shown?
So, what was the purpose then? What is it gonna be used for?
I think it’s gonna have something to do with Eddie’s queer realization, and/or Buddie feelings realization. They hung out with drag queens. Love drag queens, they make any party better. But it seems kinda random to throw that into the show. Did Eddie have a drunk conversation with a drag queen about being queer?
Was there, and this is the really out there, was there a drunk Buddie kiss? And that’s why Ryan and Oliver are so, like, good with Buddie, because they know it’s going to happen, because they’ve already filmed the first Buddie kiss. And... they’re both too drunk to remember, and it’s going to come back as a flashback, down the road.
I don’t know. Probably none of this is true, but it just seems so weird to me that they filmed all of this stuff and none/most of it did not make it into the episode. I guess we’ll find out, but I’m really hoping that that’s what happened.
It was filmed, intended, right from the get go, to be used at a later purpose, and whether anyone really knows that, like, Tim, Ryan and Oliver kind of know, that’s it? I cannot wait to see if I am right. Like, if that shit comes back on our screen late in season 8, I will lose my mind. Chances are no, but it’s gonna be really fun to watch.]
