New Deadpool & Wolverine trailer is out! Looks like the fun with a little feels that it should be.
#x men#everything after x2 didn't happen sue me#x men original timeline movies#x men movies#hugh jackman#ryan reynolds#wolverine#deadpool#deadpool & wolverine#this makes me happy in a way i don't think many can apprehend#i'm a movie girl through and through#for me to really feel a franchise with various media types#it always takes the movieverse to drive the point home#because this is where i AM home#and this is exactly what i hoped would happen to fix everything#that they fucked up after x2#and with me not being happy with x-men in mcu with mcu has become#this is driving the this-franchise-is-a-multiverse-point home#it drives home that it doesn't matter how much they fuck up in one timeline#and in the comics and cartoons or whatever#because every timeline is out there and every single one is valid#and if you don't like what they did in one#well who cares take a better one they all exist they're all out there#including all the fix its we write with fanfiction#this makes me feel so much better than the whole last year 616 fucked up#and like i knew all this in theory so far of course#but i can't always feel it#now that we get an official x-men/mcu movie driving it home#i think my mind can be better at peace with it#been loving the old movieverse for 20 years and feel healed

I actually kinda like psycho movieverse Optimus, and obviously characters need to change and evolve over time to remain relevant/interesting. But I do sometimes miss wholesome space dad Optimus who always has an inspirational speech on hand and is forever a pillar amidst the storm. [Moderate ROTB spoilers in case you haven't seen it still]
Though I will say, I think that's why I like ROTB Optimus so much. He's kind of a middle ground between the two, if that makes sense. He's definitely unhinged at points and will straight up tear a bad guy's head off, but they do a better job explaining it than in the Bayverse imo. He's clearly feeling guilty for (in his mind, at least) stranding the Autobots on earth with no apparent way home, and is just trying to protect those he can and find a way back to Cybertron- and then Bee is killed right in front of him less than halfway into the movie. He feels to me like a grumpy but loving dad who take his kids through the McDonald's drive-thru when they nag him and buy a single black coffee, but will also beat the shit out of anyone who messes with them.
#transformers#macaddam#rise of the beasts#optimus prime#psycho optimus is fun and all#but space dad optimus is such a comfort character#good thing multiple versions of a fictional character can exist at once
