Hiiii big fan~ what kind of music do you listen to when you make your art? :)

I listen to a TON of music while I draw. Lots of folks don’t really like my taste, but I’ll share anyways because I’ve gotten this question a lot.

can anyone recommend me some artists similar to Istasha?

I've checked out a few of the people he's collabbed with but nothing's clicked in the same way (yet). I'm pretty new to the genres his stuff is in (trap, industrial / experimental hip hop?) so I'm not sure where to look for other artists with the same style. I like the sci fi horror references in his stuff specifically

if there are some genre classics I'm missing I would really appreciate being pointed in the right direction. I do listen to clipping. lol

honestly sometimes it baffles me that Istasha is not well known on like. the weird dark philosophy cannibalism side of tumblr. because like. he. he makes songs about all that shit. his album Down The Infinite Wall is all about heaven, angels being lured into falling into hell, ect. Djuphavsgraven is either a historical or fictional album long story about a mutiny on a boat in the middle of an oceanic trench and everybody dying (I think. I need to do more research. This all just clicked in the last few days.) Haute Couture / Red Light District is. Well. you know. about a Red Light District. thats a lil more self explanatory.

And dozens and dozens of singles about cults and drugs traded for organ harvesting and Eastern European history (hes Swedish) and religion and death and philosophy and mental illness and mythology and there's a ton of incredibly vivid imagery in his lyrics tied in with beautifully made music.

And that's not even to mention that ALL of those weird album arts on his discography are made exclusively by him in Blender. Which is mind boggling when he also puts out a song every 2 weeks. He's making flawless music + original vocals, editing it, making the album art, extra promotion art, all by himself, all in 2 weeks.

I do believe he has professional training- he's really quiet on his private life, so I don't actually know, but I think it makes sense. Which is to say: his music doesn't sound like an awful mess, it's really well put together, your ears won't bleed lmao.

The only reason I can gather why he is completely passed over is because he's a dubstep rap artist, and not like. Goth or something. But this man has gremlin energy. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a Tumblr himself lol. He's right up y'all's alley yet completely ignored..........sad

This song is neat bc as soon as I started it for the first time I was like "why are we in a cave?" via how the reverb in the song is working and then hearing what I could of the lyrics I was like "oh!! we are in a cave!! that's neat!!"
