do I think bleach is a good manga, narratively speaking? no
did I enjoy reading it anyway? absolutely
#maria rambles#bleach#if nothing else it gave me a lot of characters I genuinely love#and an interest in looking for fix it fics#but really just. I have so many complaints. and they’re going in the tags so I’m not bothering anyone with them#I don’t love ichihime as a pairing but it isn’t strictly because I don’t like Orihime#I don’t think she was given enough chances to really develop as a character. she flatlined after a while and it was really frustrating#she never really gets a chance to prove herself since TYBW really limits where she actually steps in to help#and past a certain point she basically functions as a conscience for ichigo to bring him out of his hollow form#the other problem is that Rukia gets the same treatment#she gets sidelined so often after the soul society arc. she gets her ass handed to her in nearly every fight#and she and ichigo can’t even be seen together as friends in the final arc. they’re literally almost never in the same place at the same#time. because they had to push the fact that her love interest was renji and ichigo’s was Orihime#don’t even get me started on chad#that poor guy had Zero relevance to the plot#he loses his fights on hueco mundo and literally never has a badass moment again#I don’t count TYBW because we don’t actually see him do anything#ishida is also a can of worms to me#not to mention all the captains/vice captains#WHY was the zombiefication of hitsugaya even necessary????#he came out of it immediately and then it was like. well. that happened. let’s move on#I realize Kubo was probably very pressed for time and had to get out all his plot points on a time crunch#but like. good god. that entire arc is a mess and a half#the only thing I really praise is bringing back the arrancars. but even then. they were barely relevant#ughhhhhhhhhh it’s such a shame because I really genuinely loved the start of this series

About Suzume no Tojimari
----------
TLDR. I LOVE DAIJIN!!! 😍❤️🎉
-------
(110323)Finally I watched it today in a nearby cinema!! After waited for it since last year!!!
What can I say?
I LOVE IT!!!!
All of it was a very...very fit to my expectations and cater many of my favorites troupe in anime:
- Long haired ikemen
- adventurer girl
- cats
- adventure genre
- a lot of abandoned ruins and even have that unsettling abandoned theme parks!
- the background songs!! (Reminds me on Nier automata and ofc the Redwimp one)
- Yuming song!!
Definitely gonna buy the artbooks hahaha
I love this movie so much!
However...
(Spoilery:)
.
.
.
.
What I kinda sad tho... Souta screentime was very few.. glad I already read the first chapter of the light novel so I knew what to expect..but still tho.. :"") his voice reminds me on Katsura haha (tho I knew it was not Akira Ishida)
I love that the story is not too romantic and cringe as some other Makoto Shinkai's movies (yeah.. like Kimi no Nawa or 5 cm, Its kinda not my cup of tea)... It's more of coming of age movie? Finding your own lost self? Kinda reminds me on Belle..
I kinda think that Suzume feeling to Souta not really.... reciprocated................yet? I mean... We know she loves him so much (she's developing crush first).. but his screen time and interaction was very few... So yeah..maybe they really ends up together after the end?
Whom I love so much? Unexpectedly it was Daijin.. love him so much, especially in the end because he looks so tiny and cute.. and I love cat much so yeaah.. he's reminds me on noface from spirited away tho..hahaha, but the talking style more like ponyo
Also I like Serizawa.. he's so funny!! And has a great 80s japanese music tracklist..so my sister love him hahaha
Oh yeah also... I watched it on 11 March and her diary went black on 11 March so that's really something.. when I saw the date on screen " wait today is 11 March, right?" And look at my sister who agree with me..
All in all... I think Imma find some merchandise of Suzume xD
UPDATE:
(120323) I watched Suzume for the 2nd time on 12 March in 4DX! It was whole another level with all of the effects! everytime the characters closing the doors!! Feels like together with them on the spot!
Anyway the second watch made me felt more attached with Daijin... Hmm I think there's some misunderstanding indeed..but it wasn't really shown in the movie.. like, why he cursed Souta? Was that purely mischief or something related with Suzume's ability to see Tokoyo?
I just remembered that when I read the first chapter of the novel (only with google translate so maybe not really accurate), it seems that Daijin as the key stone..actually placed inside the door.. and in the movie, Suzume leapt through the door first before accidentally kicked the stone.
I have theory that Daijin's power actually spent a lot to surpressed the worm in the western side of Japan because too many door/gate were open (maybe Souta just recently becoming a Closer after his grandpa got sick), thus why Daijin very small while Sadaijin really big. Considering Souta and his grandpa were in Tokyo, I bet it's easier to close the door nearby Tokyo and thus Sadaijin power maintained. Maybe... Daijin got angry because the Closer seems to neglected him/the western side of Japan, thus why he was like' try to be a keystone yourself, closer!! (Just my speculation lol)
Anyway.. Serizawa age is 20-21, coz in his ID card his birth year was 2002, so maybe Souta too..
Still wonder why Souta has blue eyes?
UPDATE AGAIN
(250323)Okaay so I just watched Suzume again for the third time!!! Unbelievable! I just love it so much! You know watching it again in the Cinema feels really nostalgic (even though it's only 2 weeks since then) but...huhuhu everytime I saw Daijin or listen to the ost during this third rewatch, my eyes got teary..🥹🥹🥹
What I learned today.. I finally saw that Souta's grandpa was indeed lost his right hand. I found this info from the visual guide book and was like "is he???"..and yeah.. I wonder what happened and why he decided to deleted all information about the Tokyo's gate? (He seems really close with Sadaijin, they're probably a partner back then? Can wr have Suzume's spin off?).
Souta's eyes actually reminded me to Johan Liebert (Urasawa Naoki) especially during the Souta's drowning scenes..
I also realized something during my second rewatch back then..which was how Daijin potentially looks like a human in some circumstances (for example during the bar scenes), while Suzume said he looks like cat, the bar waitress said he was a new calm and polite 'human' customer...and Suzume was like, human? Daijin position during that scene kinda weird, since he sits besides some office workers? So maybe he could shapeshift to human?
Aand it's really possible that Daijin actually embodiment of....fun? Or merrier atmosphere or any other positive things..considering he always talks in...smiling and cheery intonation? Aaand he always brings more people to the place where Suzume's stayed in (at the Orange-girl's family inn and Kobe-woman's bar). He definitely Yang, while Sadaijin is Yin.. Maybe that's why Sadaijin looks more...feminine? Like a mother cat to Daijin?
Since both cats probably based on Yin-yang, maybe that's why Sadaijin brings a sadness atmosphere? (During Tamaki and Suzume conversation). Tho I honestly think all of these still not explored in a depth yet. Really hope what actually happened could be explained more throughly in the comic book.
I read the mangascanlation (still 2 chapters) and it was really good! The story very similar with the novel version. Apparently Souta's as the handsome chair looked more expressive in the comic.. and Daijin also more explained? Cannot wait to collect the comic when it's published in my country..
Daijin becoming my focus whenever I rewatch this movie..hahah 😂 but overall I love all the colors, vibes, music, story, characters etc from this movie. But it's still a 9.5/10 coz I think several dialogues and actions between Suzume and Souta still a bit...cringe 😬.. but hopefully it'll be improved when Makoto Shinkai making this kind of adventure movies for all age again~~
Anyway~ now I finally have several Suzume official merchandise!! Yaaay! Hopefully my collection increase hehe! Gonna buy the blu-ray once it got released!!
Cannot wait for official Daijin merchandise! It's so difficult to obtain huhuhu
ps. I read someone speculated that Suzume's ancestors actually one of the Closer for the western region of Japan.. Thus why Daijin really want to be Suzume's familiar. And I think it's kinda makes sense. Suzume somehow seems natural as a closer too! Tamaki as her aunt also seems to understand when Suzume said Daijin and Sadaijin somekind of gods.
but since it's not enough evidence.. wish the spinoff novel got translated too (just foundout that japanese viewer received several spin-off novel of Serizawa and Tamaki story from the Cinema), maybe it's has some hints about Suzume's ancestry?
ps. Other reason I love this movie... It reminded me how transient human life is and how close we are with death... Especially since my country also inside the ring of fire... Hopefully God will always protect us..
Update:
I edit a cheap daijin doll from shop*e.. hehe now he looks like the real Daijin no? XD

Wooooo time for me to ramble about Space Worms! Love making long rambles, they are the best. Everything will be under the cut because....reasons. Also yes I have stolen other fictional characters to be Space Worms you can fight me.
Space Worms are a multidimensional species that can shapeshift, teleport, control time and reality in general, and have limited omnipotence over the universe they watch. Their true forms are blindingly white siphonophore-looking things. They start out about the size of a pencil but can grow to encompass entire galaxies. Most tend to stay in the form they take to interact with other species, even around other Space Worms. Space Worms cannot die of old age, but they can die from severe injuries, or by their own choice (called "retiring). All Space Worms live in a sort of white void-like place that usually looks like a cross between an office building and a bee hive. Since they are very often in other places, the void is pretty well empty. There is a chamber somewhere in there where the "Matron Worm" lives, and they create the Wormlings. Other than the Matron Worm and their apprentice Space Worms have no real societal roles. Space Worms also have no set genders, but some choose to assign themselves genders for fun. Space Worms also are mostly employed by the writers of stories to keep the stories on track. If they are not employed, they still usually pick a universe to live in as it interests them (more about that below). Young Space Worms are called Wormlings. They are made from a primordial soup of retired and killed Space Worms. Since Space Worms can evolve slightly to the environment they are in so they draw less suspicion about their true identities this way of reproducing is the best way for all Wormlings to have the best genetic chance of survival. The Matron Worm ensures they become Space Worms and not something else. Space Worms speak in almost chiptune-like chirps and the way their bodies are curled. Older Space Worms will also throw in words from other languages they have learned. When talking in different languages they usually adopt a unique speaking pattern. Space Worms have no culture of their own, but they tend to be drawn to the culture of others. They love to learn about the places they are sent to. They tend to mimic what they hear at first, mixing it with their chirps until they can speak the language entirely. They will also happily participate in festivals and holidays of their universe, even if they don't know what it is for. They will also then adopt that as part of their being, and share it with other Space Worms. Space Worms in general are very social, but due to their nature they don't like to talk to many people. They tend to find one person to communicate with and stick with that person. While Space Worms have very distinctive traits, they can be confused with other species. For example, Doc Scratch is commonly known as a First Guardian but is actually a Space Worm. Other notable Space Worms are: G-man from Half-Life, Jevil from Deltarune, W.D. Gaster from Undertale, Discord from My Little Pony, and Kiyondo Ishida from Danganronpa.

(I deleted and re-uploaded this haha sorry)
Can't stop thinking about how much more compelling tg would've been if Ishida didn't add his half-assed biology into the mix,and attempted to do his research and make in-depth biological information for his world.
I also really (building off posts by the wonderfully epic @toastyyghostie and the chad @tg-headcanons, check them out they're far more creative than me lol, sorry for the tag as well) like the idea of the CCG purposefully misleading the people (and the ghouls for that matter). The CCG achieve this by either knowing that ghouls could eat food or devising artificial food, but only using it for their own gain (i.e. Quinx project and the Oggai). When you think about it, especially in the case of the Oggai, it would make sense for the CCG to have had artificial food in their possession. For those who have forgotten, don't know, or didn't care enough about it (I mean why would you 150 chapters into :re), the Oggai were the 100 or so child soldiers - actual children mind you, they couldn't drive so they rode bikes in canon - that Furuta's organisation implanted Rize's Kagune into. They were basically improved versions of Kaneki, Takizawa and the twins, had two Kakugan and were super powerful. I also think they were instrumental in Kaneki's transformation into the dragon-worm thing. In order to possess these capabilities, judging by the rules of the world, they would have extremely RC counts, meaning, again by the world's rules, digesting food would be impossible. Thus the solution? Artificial food. It's never disclosed how Furuta feeds these gremlins, but it would make sense for them to y'know, not kill people to make food for the weird government's child army. It would also explain how Kaneki, as Haise Sasaki, would be able to eat.
If we explore this idea further, the CCG making artificial food for its own footsoldiers, to keep them dependant on the organisation, whilst withholding this resource from the wider ghoul public to make sure they still had an enemy (maybe something to do with public/national/worldwide unity, like a scapegoat), would greatly contribute to the story's moral ambiguity.
It would also just make it more climactic, add more drama (bc I love that stuff), and more room for a satisfying resolution. The public (both humans and ghouls), upon finding out about the CCG's transgressions, would bond over their mutual gaslighting. The CCG would be held accountable, humans and ghouls have peace. (this part isn't fleshed out, can you tell?)
Anyway, maybe I'll return to this in the morning! Peace out!

Because it was the first time I heard it on stage, man was I moved….
After, the MC,
Yoshizawa-san, nah, from Gankoi Ittetsu an exchange of “You in our line! Welcome back!”, to this, I cried.
For the second song “I WISH”, the active members got to participate as back dancers,
My eyes met Yasuda-san’s, being teary-eyed, that’s no good, I also started crying, but while smiling, I was happy.
Probably, the fans had been waiting for this moment forever, those that have been always supporting Hello! Project,

“I super like this song!!!”
She sang it at a solo event,
Also today she somehow chose this song,

It’s been months since tg ended and a month before the last anime season begins, so in the down time when I’m less likely to get straggled in my yard I’m just going to go ahead and get it out now
Arima fucking sucks. Arima fucking sucks a lot. Arima sucks and is a dick objectivity.
But hold on disclaimer! Listen every Arima Stan I’m not coming for you, just the framing of the character. I like Eto and I admit she’s a huge bitch who does awful things, so I don’t have room to say you have any moral problem for liking Arima. He himself is engaging, strong, intriguing, and has a dang fantastic booty.
HOWEVER the story, the attitude, and the characters drive me up the fucking wall. Jesus-Arima is a damn lie. Yo, this fuck was “CCG god” but not only was he double crossing the ccg by his existence as half human, he was also double crossing the Washuu’s too by working with Eto. The dude is still treated like he died for our sins, and he got away with it!
I scream every Arima flashback as ccg members and some ghouls remember him fond and casually. YA BOY BRETRAYED YOU
And it’s so fucking stupid too. The plan was so dumb. So Ishida you tell me Arima dindu nuffin he lov dos ghools whole time? What the hell are the ghouls to think? “Wow you were on our side as you genocided thousands of ghouls single handily and have broken up families for years? You’re such a tragic hero.” And the humans? The man you respected as the apex of humanity, friend, mentor, and hope for mankind wasn’t even full human at all and was complicit in the side you killing your comrades? Also knew your lives were lies built under the thumb of ghoul big brother? Don’t care, that’s Jesus. Yomo was the only one with an appropriate reaction.
Eto bitch you too, both half ghoul, both strong, both with large following, and y’all wait until the end of Arima’s life span to execute to the game plan with a literal bitch made OEK. Surprise masterminds he got half the ghoul population and half of Tokyo annihilated.
They literally could have did a better job themselves instead of putting in on the shoulders of someone proven unstable and foolish, and you can’t convince me otherwise. It all worked out in the end, but was that coarse of action even worth it with all the things that went wrong? Arima or Hirako couldn’t at least tell him about the dragon thing since now with the line “Tokyo will become ghouls” we know our clairvoyant good boy god knew about that too? In reality it makes him seem more like a dick for keeping that secret. I bet Kaneki would have liked to know that before he turned into a gaint worm.
As I said before my problem with Arima is the framing since characters don’t have to be morally correct to be likable. The difference, Eto for instance faces consequences in the eyes of the other characters and her close followers all paid with their lives. The last chapter she appeared and passed out/died Hirako glared at her and I could have reached into the panel and shook him. Dude wtf in the reveal that her and Arima were partners the whole time you were in the group shot!! You been knew, look somewhere else kettle the pot is resting. Eto had her eyes closed, but it was Hirako who needed to wake the fuck up.
Arima is praised by the cast and narrative when his parallel is a villain for the exact same shit. Eto was hardlined bad from what she did to Kanae, but Arima can stab Kaneki in the face multiple times and turn him into “his quinque”. But that’s muh fucking daddy right there!!
You mean to tell me that part of Kanae’s arc would be okay if she survived and called Eto her mom? That would be weird right? Well it’s exactly just as weird as the first one! Still the next arc Kaneki is cradling Arima in his lap calling him his father while Arima says he finally has something to care about, ignoring the implications of everyone who died in his master plan or he met over the years meaning absolutely nothing to him. Meanwhile his counter part is off getting humiliated and alone.
Anyway, Tg framing is hypocritic and gives me a headache when I think too hard about it, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
#dont shoot me i know hes a fav but this has been bothering me forever#its like arima is a complex character but the story wont let him be one#arima kishou#hirako take#kaneki ken#eto yoshimura#tokyo ghoul#tokyo ghoul:re#tg spoilers#tg salt

I hope that the resolution Akira/Amon/Seidou is better than Ui/Hirako, sincerely the way Ishida apparently solved the feelings between them was a little disappointing for me(I mean, he chose not show the confrontation between them, when we saw they are already together)(continue this em another mensage)
Hirako don't showed much thought about Ui after he left with Kaneki, it's always Ui that we see thinking about that thing, but I was okay with that because I thought he was suppressing his feelings and that in his confrontation with Ui it would explode(like Akira with Seidou in Rushima), but apparently that didn't happen and they just decided to help each other to be out of that situation(I wonder if they would have continued with that if Dragoneki had not happened). (continue)
What should be an explosion of feelings for me was just "Oh, cool...".(I was thinking about sending it for some time because I know how Ui is your favorite character and I also really like him, I still do, but it made me salty). So I'm worried about Akira/Amon/Seidou, because right now Amon and Akira are choosing to suppress their feelings about Seidou, as Hirako did with Ui and still has Seidou running away from them, so I'm afraid the resolution will be disappointing for me like Ui/Hirako.
I mean I too do not like how it was mostly offscreened, but I think the point of that conflict is that it’s not resolved entirely yet. Number one is that Ui does not yet know about the garden, and we can tell he doesn’t because of the lie he tells to protect Hirako.
HIrako was quiet this entire chapter in fact. He also disappeared mostly after this and we still have no seen him in the conflict. Which I would suggest is for the same reason that we have not sen HInami, as Yusa and Hirako do not fit as evenly into the peace as the rest of them. They actually extremely recently lost people, and they’re not entirely sure what they’re fighting for anymore.
Ui’s lie is told with the best of intentions, but as I said before it kind of erases Arima’s role in all of these things. That Arima stood up against the CCG, that he hated their way of doing things. Arima’s sacrifice if it is to be honored should not be forgotten or erased, and consumed instead by the legacy of the perfect investigator lie that the CCG is currently using for him.
Arima Kishou is mainly being remembered as his role, and as an investigator. Ui did love Arima as a person, but as of now he doesn’t know the truth behind these things.
The person who knew Arima Kishou best as a person also, is not speaking up about these things either, most likely because the scenario has gone so off plan that Take has lost sight of what he’s supposed to do in these things. He might have even lost confidence that he should have knowing that Arima chose him and trusted him.
The risk both Ui and Take carried, and still carry is that without the head to guide them they won’t be able to guide themselves. I would say the reason we did not see an explosion of feelings between the two of them, is because they have not yet had the most important conversation of all.
The garden conversation, and Take’s reasons for leaving. Both of those things are being forgotten in all of the uneasy alliances that are now being formed in order to take Worm down. While, I want to see those conversations and also to see them be focused on, it’s understandable at least that it’s taking time to get there.
So yes they did make an uneasy alliance without talking things out, but the same can be said for almost every alliance that’s being made by the plot right now. It’s almost like that is a... theme... or something.

One thing that I don't understand is that why, if we are on the Moon arc we got the Sun symbolism (reversed, but the meaning is still positive) during chapter 125 that is part of said Moon arc? Does it have something to do with Touka being one of the few characters associated with the Sun or something?
That’s a great question! I actually don’t know that Touka is associated with the sun at all–at least not prior to 125! But there are several possible explanations.
I’ve seen several people suggest that this is actually a 16 and a reference to the Tower–we did then get a lot of tower symbolism in the 24th raid arc, with a chapter even being called “fall from the tower.” However, I’m not sure the 16 best fits the meaning of the scene.
19 seems to fit best to me, and also there’s the fact that the word for 19 is apparently a pun on “orgasm” In Japanese sooooo. Lol.
But here’s the thing about tarot numbers in TG: as previously described with the Tower symbolism in the 24th ward raid arc, and as seen in the most recent chapter with a 4, The Emperor, in Mutsuki’s kagune…
… there are references to the various cards throughout the journey, even if we haven’t reached that part of the journey yet, or have already passed that part of the journey (as the Tower Arc=Rose Arc). So yes, I lean towards saying that’s a 19, and is symbolic of the hope and light Kaneki feels after consummating his love with Touka. But. I don’t think that necessarily means that we’re in the Sun Arc.
The Moon Arc is an arc of stagnation (hence why it’s lasted so long) and also one of illusions. The idea that Touka having sex with him saved Kaneki and the idea that this love would be all he needed ignores the fact that every single character we’ve seen who clings to the love of just one person has met disaster in this arc. The narrative did seem to be illusionary in that it didn’t seem to be warning us that things were wrong–there were clues, which I’ve discussed before (like Kaneki not being forthcoming with Touka about his aging, rubbing his chin in various conversations, and Touka not confronting Kaneki over the Yoriko disaster), but they weren’t the most obvious things and I admit to even thinking myself that we were going to get a simplified ending. But instead Kaneki returns and becomes Dragon–which I really don’t think would have happened if we were past the Sun Arc. So when everything looks so sunny right now but characters are still obviously lying and delusional–not just Mutsuki, but Urie, who is prioritizing the CCG over family yet again, Touka, Saiko, Tsukiyama, Hide, etc. Ui grows quite a bit, but he still lies to cover up for Hirako, suggesting he is not ready to face the truth just yet, and the truth would come with the Sun Arc.
So, for the Moon Arc, we’ve gone through: Clown Raid, during which out characters (Urie, Mutsuki, Kaneki, etc.) begin their spirals, the respite (125-26), the 24th Ward Raid in which things get even darker, another respite (everyone joining together), and now shit hitting the fan again and in which the characters are reaching the defining points of their spirals–the turn or die moments. Are the Qs going to look at their flaws and grow? What is Kaneki going to do when he’s out of Dragon? Or are they going to face tragic ends?
Because the Moon Arc is an illusion, I don’t believe they are going to get tragic endings. Not the Quinx, not Kaneki, not Touka, not the other Aces. The Sun Arc really does feel just around the corner, impending even. It’s raining right now in Tokyo, but yes, I do think Ishida is meta enough to have to sun come out when we enter the sun arc.
And the thing about the sun is that you can only see your shadow when the sun comes out. And remember, TG is very very Jungian, and the shadow in Jungian terms is the part of oneself that one would rather not face, but has to face in order to grow. Your flaws, to an extent.
Which the Qs just so happen to embody.
It’s noted here that:
The Sun is an image of optimism and fulfilment, the dawn that follows the darkest night. As the source of all life on earth, the Sun represents the source of life itself.
I think Chapter 125 definitely wasn’t the Sun Arc, because things just got worse lol. But Touka is a part of Kaneki’s sun for sure, like all the Aces. I think it’s foreshadowing that she’ll play an important role. The darkest night sounds like where we are right now. Things really can’t get much worse. Kaneki’s literally a worm eating Tokyo–the only way they can get worse is if he lashes out once he’s out of Dragon (entirely possible, but it won’t be long or drawn out, I really don’t think so, if that happens).
The Sun Arc sounds like what’s going to happen when Kaneki faces his shadow in the Qs (maybe with the Aces given the 19 tie to Touka and the light/shadow thing).
If I may, I will say that I wonder if the “source of life” imagery with the Sun might tie into what we know about Dragon’s possibilities, but I’m not going to speculate too much about that here.
Thank you for the ask!

Caterpillars, Metamorphosis and Butterflies
:re 143 has been shocking to say the least. In this chapter, after all the determination and self-confidence that Kaneki was having (for once), he ended up getting totally annihilated. Without even showing the battle. Then, Furuta compares him to a caterpillar:
Like what people have mentioned, while worms can be seen to be “centipedes without legs”, they can also be a caterpillar. Caterpillars grow into butterflies. You know who Ishida constantly associates butterflies with?
There’s that panel of him mercilessly “crushing” a butterfly in the beginning, but at the end of the chapter he is seen to release it. Arima, as a figure, has been seen like that of a father to Kaneki, and a teacher. He is the person who passed his legacy as the “One-Eyed King” to Kaneki. And Kaneki surpassed him. Before, Kaneki’s forms has always been seen as “centipede”, which is still the state of something that’s crawling. Since becoming the OEK, his form hasn’t changed drastically. Which makes me think that he is and will metamorphosise. And develop into a butterfly. But before that, he must first struggle.
Kaneki was shown in a magnificent centipede-esque kakuja form. Yet, he was still beat. And confused about it, just like you and me. This state of confusion reminds me of certain quotes from Kafka’s Metamorphosis:
This may be the end of :re, but there are far too many unanswered questions for the series to end. Like Metamorphosis, I think that TG is a story told in 3 parts. Kaneki will finally become a butterfly, at his final stage.

I just read the new chapter and......... I seriously don't know what to think. I was really excited to see a kaneki vs Suzuya fight and then all I see is a worm kaneki and I became so confused. why all the hype for the fight then nothing. like really Ishida. Anyways what are your thoughts on the chapter?
Hi! Like you I am also really surprised and confused from the newest tg chapter. I absolutely didn’t expect any of this and since it got out I read so many comments and threads (in Reddit) that I got twice more confused.Honestly I don’t see what would be the best ‘’ending’’ now.On one side if Kaneki doesn’t die now it would be sooo...idk...like the story repeating itself over and over again which would really damage the quality of the manga. On other side if Kaneki lives then in the 3rd part he must do basically the impossible to kill Furuta and co. If Kaneki lives he won’t get any better but only worse and worse. We won’t have the powerful OEK but he’s gonna be really weak mentally and phisically. After all, Nishiki’s words for the aging of the body weren’t just lies.
For me Tokyo Ghoul is an original manga because we don’t see everyday heroes who suffer so much and the story is really well wrtten.
There is one meme which shows how most of the battles in the ‘’ordinary’’ mangas pass:
main hero fights --->he gets almost killed ---->some really wise monologue about friendship is magic ---> magically he beats the enemy ---> party hard
I DO NOT WANT THIS KIND OF STORY DEVELOPMENT !
Like I said Tokyo Ghoul is original and I don’t want any cliches like the one I just wrote.Probably the best way to end re: is with the death of Kaneki (come on fans, rip off my lungs for what I just said) and in the 3rd part to see some new MAIN characters. Even Touka OR HER KID or Urie and Saiko and Amon and Hide and everyone who is just forgotten since 20-30 chapters. We already have a well developped enemy in the face of his majesty Fruit-chan so we basically have the roots of one really interesting story- we just need a happy ending. My opinion is that it’s not possible anymore TG to have a happy end with Kaneki. He is not/ won’t be physically strong enough to fight again like he fought in his best days.
I can say probably 1000 more things but honestly I don’t really have time to do it :((( My dear friend and admin Yassen gonna write especially for you an analys with his opinion about re:143

Tbh Hide is reminding me of Kaneki in two things. One in that scene with Amon and him, it reminds me of when Amon asked Kaneki about his motivations because in both cases he sees they do what they do for the people they care about, and Amon puts on similar expressions afterwards. And second, in being self-sacrificing and blaming himself, it reminds me of Kaneki's flawed philosophy.
I direct you to this post here, actually I’mma just quote it because it’s relevant:
@purgatoryandme
Ishida, plz show me Hide’s super heavily scarred up face. Plz acknowledge in-text that his sacrifice was a bad choice and that he could’ve gone for other solutions, but ultimately always chooses to martyr himself like Kaneki. Show me the warped figure he truly is.
As sweet and genuine as Hide’s feelings are, and make no mistake I still think they are. The manga so far has been deliberately deconstructing the notion of self sacrifice, martyrdom, and self blame that Hide is walking around with burdened so on his shoulders with little self awareness.
Hide’s sacrifice as well intentioned as it was, did not even produce the result it intended. It did not show Kaneki that his life was worth saving at all, in fact the moment he remembered it he immediately tried to kill himself again in another even more elaborate scenario than Anteiku.
Hide never really could have saved Kaneki from his own suicidal nature, or from Anteiku even if he acted sooner, or acted in a different way, because the only person who can save Kaneki is Kaneki. This is confirmed in the narrative itself. The Hide he imagined up wasn’t Hide at all, it was Kaneki’s voice inside of his head taking the form of Hide, because he wanted somebody to tell him to live. However, the voice itself was always his own.
Kaneki was never talking to Rize when he found the resolve to fight Yamori, that was his own strength. At the same time, Kaneki was never talking to Hide when he found the will to live again. That was his own will and desire.
So tragically, as is often the fashion in which things proceed Hide’s sacrifice went by the same way of Kaneki’s sacrifice in trying to save the manager and Anteiku in the Anteiku raid. It accomplished nothing, saved no one, and only hurt him further. This is not to devalue the intention behind Hide’s deed, after all his acceptance of Kaneki at his lowest point is true selflessness. However, this is the reality of the situation. Hide sacrificed so much, and then devoted what little of him survived three years after the fact to Kaneki, and it changed nothing. Kaneki still turned into a giant worm and ate the whole city.
Which is why Hide’s attitude here is more troubling to me, than I think a lot of people are giving it credit for. That three years after the fact, after losing half of his face, that Hide thinks Kaneki is still his responsibility, that it’s something he should have done rather than Kaneki to prevent all of this. It comes from a place of love of course, but if it’s not healthy for Kaneki to martyr himself for the sake of the people he loves, then it’s not healthy for Hide either.
Oddly enough, it seems in Kaneki’s absence Hide has begun to mirror him a little bit. He didn’t tell Kaneki of his name or even his existence, and tried to fix everything from the shadows. This time it was Hide cutting Kaneki off rather than the other way around. He also takes personal blame for not protecting Kaneki in the right way, and letting things get to this point. It’s a bit interesting knowing their dnyamic, and knowing the same behaviors frustrated Hide a long time ago.
We see that behavior repeating in other characters though. Touka after knowing what it was like to be abandoned by Kaneki and disappear without a word cannot bring herself to confront Yoriko in any way and instead cuts her off to protect her. Nishiki hasn’t even mentioned Kimi once after breaking up with her, and he’s willing to hunt down both Torso, and Kanou for seemingly some connection to her, but can’t even talk about her around his closest friends in a private sealed off room.
Anyway this isn’t anything new to Hide, and it’s very thematic but I thought it was worth commenting on all the same. As for what Amon said, yes, I think his priorities since the “Last Sanctuary” speech have changed from Justice for the Whole world, to “I want my friends to still be alive.”
His smile here is likely because, he recognized that despite the fact that they were still fighting on opposite sides, Kaneki and him came to fight for the same reasons.
That can be both good and bad. It means that Amon might have learned a small something as to why ghouls fight for each other, that they were too fighting for people that were precious to him.
At the same time it kind of reassures Amon and Kaneki’s whole worldview of only choosing to focus on personal relationships and turning a blind eye to everybody else. Amon who was supposed to be the force which kept Kaneki in check and in balance, fails to confront him at this point and as a result they both leave the conversation without really changing.
Despite the fact that it’s been built up the entire manga that this conversation was meant to change both of their viewpoints of the world. You know Ishida and his love of anticlimaxes though.
