Tony Stark secret identity?
It’s a long list so it’s under the cut!
I Said “I Love You,” What Does it Matter if I Lie to You? + 95k
18 year old Tony Stark is your typical teenager. Well, except for how he’s the playboy billionaire heir to Stark Industries and working on two PhDs. Oh, and 6 months ago he was kidnapped by - well, no one really knows who. Since his rescue (excuse you, Tony liberated himself), he’s also been keeping a pretty big secret. Here’s a hint: it’s shiny, red and gold, and flies. Tony’s had a productive couple of months, but the fact that his grandfather keeps trying to hire bodyguards for his “safety” is really putting a cramp in his ability to keep his secret superhero identity, well, a secret.
Steve Rogers wakes up in 2015 and finds out that he’s missed 70 years (Oh god, does this mean he’s 94?), a revelation that he handles with much less grace than usual. Mostly, Steve just wants to be Captain America again, but on his own terms and without a lot of fanfare. To fill the time while Steve tries to figure out the best way to resurrect a dead superhero, his good friend Isaac Stark offers him a job: bodyguard to Isaac’s grandson, Tony Stark - who seems to get into a surprising amount of trouble for a teenager. “There’s no better introduction to the 21st century than through Tony,” says Isaac. Somehow, Steve is not reassured.
don’t know why it took me so long to see + 11k
“Oh, watch this,” Natasha says, propping her chin against her knuckles and turning a sweet gaze on him. “Tony, what’s it like dating a superhero?”
Tony bristles in irritation. “We’re not dating,” he snaps. “Captain America probably thinks he can get into anyone’s pants just ‘cause he’s got a mask, costume, and reputation, but not me, buddy. That shield? Gotta be overcompensating for something.” He adds, a bit petulantly, “Oh, and all that blue? Definitely more Steve’s color than his.”
Saving the World (Is Totally a Date) + 64k + personal favorite
Tony discovers Stane’s betrayal while he’s still being held captive. When he escapes, he sets out to ruin Stane as completely and ruthlessly as he can, playing up his PTSD and quitting his job to destroy Stane quietly from the outside. He also picks up a teaching job-all Pepper’s fault-and oh, right, becomes a supervillain. Okay, that one was Tony’s fault, but it was totally an accident.
In the meantime, a certain Capsicle is defrosted a year early, and is assigned the task of capturing the notorious Iron Man. It’s not going particularly well, if the embarrassingly high number of times he’s been kidnapped in the past six months is any indication. When SHIELD decides to help him “adjust” by getting him a teaching job, Steve is skeptical; but then there’s Tony, and Steve finds he doesn’t mind the 21st century so much after all.
The Most Amazing Things (Some Terrible Lie) + 26k
Tony’s decision not to reveal his identity as Iron Man to the world was shrewd and calculated. Too bad it’s about to backfire on him like a Jericho missile.
Slipping off the Page into Your Hands + 68k + personal favorite
Soulmates have their first words to each other written on their wrists. This should make it easy. For Steve and Tony, it is anything but. Steve’s problem is that the future he has awoken into is nothing he was ever expecting: he has a soulmate now. Who might be a robot. And if his soulmate is Iron Man, how can he be so attracted to Tony Stark? It should be impossible. Tony’s problem is that he is Iron Man, his soulmate is a man whom he in no way deserves, and he is going to fight everything in his heart and do his best to make sure Steve never, ever finds out the whole truth.
Cherry Ride + 12k
A SHIELD agent named Roger Stevens told Tony that his nickname was “Cap”. Tony didn’t connect the dots until it was much, much too late.
Steve Rogers: Undercover Robosexual - 11k
Tony Stark is a selfish, narcissistic asshole with a God complex, which makes his invention of the superhero Iron Man, an impressive android with an AI that surpasses even J.A.R.V.I.S. in complexity, all the more puzzling. Stuck in a future he struggles to understand, Steve surprisingly gets along with the bag of bolts more than any flesh-and-blood being. He often has to stop himself from taking chances with real human life (including his own) when Iron Man is in danger. After all, Stark likely has several back-up copies of Iron Man’s code, so he can always make another one, right? That’s what Steve tells himself anyway when he sees Iron Man flying a missile destined for New York City through a wormhole to destroy the Chitauri warship.
And then Steve gets a call from the man himself on his private comm channel.
“Hey Cap.”
“Stark, this isn’t a good time. I’m kind of in the middle of something. Can I call you back later?” Steve says, head tipped up to watch Iron Man’s ascension.
Bizarre Love Triangle + 1k
Once the idea was in his head, he’d started picking up on all kinds of things, like the way Stark talked about Iron Man with such affection, and seemed to share so many of his mannerisms, and was constantly working on ways of improving the suit. It was obvious.
Think of This as Solving Problems (That Should Never Have Occurred) + 35k
No one knows Tony is Iron Man. Then Tony gets amnesia, and literally no one knows Tony is Iron Man.
Wait & Sea + 50k
In which Tony and Steve get sent on an undercover mission aboard a cruise ship to make contact with Hydra. In this AU the military has kept the discovery and defrosting of Captain America a secret, so Steve and Tony have never met before. Yet they are to pose as newlyweds….
The Long Road Home + 47k
Maria Stark told her son that the Mark on his wrist meant there was a special someone out there just for him. Sarah Rogers told her son that his soulmate was waiting for him, and he needed to be strong for them.
Neither of them ever mentioned what to do if that soulmate just doesn’t want them.
I’ll Give You Gifts Until You Know My Name + 10k
Mr. Stark is an extravagant gift-giver: he has the money for it, after all. As Iron Man, Tony has the opportunity to gift Steve even more presents that, while less expensive, are more heartfelt. Having a secret identity means Tony gets to have his cake and eat it too when it comes to showering Steve with presents.
Until Steve starts developing feelings for his armored companion, and all the benefits of living a double life are turned on their head for Tony Stark.
Eavesdroppers Never + 7k
When Tony made the decision to have a secret identity, he had several well-considered and carefully thought-out reasons. But there were a few scenarios he never took into account. He never imagined that he, Iron Man, would be cuddling naked with Captain America in a Canadian shack in the middle of a snowstorm. He also never imagined that Captain America would pick that moment to tell him, Iron Man, about his feelings for Tony Stark. Uh-oh.
The Greatest Secret of All + 1k
Captain America and Iron Man are hit by a truth spell. So why is Tony Stark acting weird?
What Lies Behind  + 63k + im actually currently reading this
Four months after the Battle of New York, Steve Rogers still hasn’t managed to find his footing. The new century is strange and upsetting, and he appears to have no purpose in it. But when SHIELD sends him to liaise with the director of Stark Industries, his life starts to change in ways he could never imagine.
Or, the MCU-rooted AU, in which Steve and Tony both still maintain their secret identities.
Thank You Fics Round 3 - chapter three

How Do You Feel?
Sorry I’ve been inactive lately! I saw Endgame twice and that’s what my mind has been on, plus I’ve been working a lot more. Anyway, I got this done! It’s a combination of two different ideas so enjoy!
Summary: You and Arthur share some intimate moments.
Warnings: None
Your eyes shifted back and forth between the screen of your phone and the bathroom counter. Nervously, you tapped your fingers against your phone as you waited. Time couldn’t have moved as slowly as it did, waiting for just a simple answer that would alter your future.
The silence surrounding you was nearly deafening. God, this had to be the longest two minutes of your life. Your stomach twisted in knots of pure anxiety as the seconds ticked by. Why couldn’t time move faster? Your mind was a tornado of thoughts.
You glanced again at the counter. A faint line of color appeared, just one. You couldn’t take your eyes off it, watching it become darker. Yet, it was just one, singular line.
Another minute passed and you released the breath you’d been holding. It hadn’t changed. It was just one pink line. You blinked several times. Still, the sight in front of you hadn’t changed.
Relief spread like a gentle wave, your muscles relaxing from head to toe. Yanking the stick off the counter, you pushed the door open. Arthur was leaning against the opposite wall, his hands clenched into fists and his head tilted down. His gaze immediately snapped to you as you stepped out, his blue eyes intense. His lips were pressed into a hard line, though he waited for you to speak.
“I’m not pregnant.” You stated plainly, holding up the test in clear view.
He let out a hard sigh, breaking his gaze as his body visibly deflated. You weren’t sure if he was relieved or disappointed. Frowning, you stepped toward him, reaching out to gently brush his shoulder. “Arthur?”
He lifted his head up slowly, his face hard to read. Though his eyes were slightly glassy, as if he were holding back tears. “What’s wrong? Are you sad about that?”
“No,” his voice was low, gruff. “I just…” he sighed slightly, shaking his head and turning away to walk into the bedroom. You followed him closely, stopping when he sat on the edge of the bed. Hunched over, he rubbed his face with his hands.
You waited silently, allowing him to collect his thoughts before prompting him to speak, if he wanted to at all. You knew it was a touchy subject in general, although you weren’t sure of Arthur’s personal opinion. Maybe you were about to learn it.
He removed his hands, though didn’t look at you. He kept his head down, finally finding his voice. “I…had a son before, Y/N.”
You blinked in surprise. From the entire time he’d stayed with you, and even before when playing the game, you never recalled him mentioning or even indicating that he was a father. Although, he said had. “Really?” was all you could say, despite the thousands of questions that ran through your mind.
“Yeah…” he sighed again. “His name was Isaac. Good kid, wasn’t intentional…”
You waited for an explanation, and the curiosity of the past tenses were confusing you. Did he mean before in the game as opposed to now, or did something happen? He’d fallen silent, so you pressed further. “What…happened?”
“His mom and I…well, we was both young and dumb. They lived by themselves and I would visit when I could, until one day …they were killed. All for ten dollars.” His voice was thick with emotion.
Your heart skipped a beat. From knowing and playing this man, you would have never known. You always knew Arthur has had his fair share of pain in his life. Developed with such a background that reached even further than you would have ever thought. “Arthur…” you cooed, placing your hand on his head, running your fingers through his hair soothingly.
Almost immediately, his own hands gripped your hips, pulling you close as he rested his forehead on your stomach. He took a deep breath, shuddering slightly as he did. “I know it’s silly to worry about that sorta thing now,” he murmured. “S’just a painful reminder…”
You could feel your heart ache for this man. Your hands found his face, gently cupping his cheeks as you lifted his head to look at you. “It’s not silly. It was a traumatic event, I can see why you’d be upset.”
He took a few seconds to respond. “I feel like I shoulda been there to protect them.”
You knelt down in front of him, allowing yourself to face him directly. “You can’t hold yourself to blame, Arthur.”
“But it was my fault in the first place,” he mumbled, not meeting your eyes. “Shoulda been more careful with her…”
“Don’t try to dwell in the past,” you calmly said. “You’re here now, with me.”
“And I woulda felt terrible if I got you pregnant.” He looked at you now, his face full of sadness.
You sighed this time, though you understood his plight. The idea of pregnancy and a baby left a negative mark on his mind. You wanted to ask more, however you were unsure if he would be willing to tell the entire story. It was a terrible memory to bear. “But I wouldn’t be in danger,” you pointed out. “You wouldn’t have to worry about that.”
“I know,” he said slowly. “It’s also a big burden to put on you, Y/N. ‘Specially with someone like me.”
“Arthur, I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.” You assured him, offering a warm smile.
The look on his face was pure disbelief. “You can’t mean that, Y/N.”
You could argue with him and his low self-esteem, though he’d gotten better about his self worth since his time with you. Still, it remained hardwired into his brain. “I do mean it,” you said evenly. “You’re a great guy, Arthur. And don’t you dare say differently.”
The look in his eyes changed. They were lighter, and the ghost of a smile tugged at the edge of his lips. “You’d really want to raise a child with me?”
You nodded. “Of course. When I was in there waiting for the result, a lot went through my mind. I’m not ready for a kid yet, not by a long shot. But I felt comforted knowing that if I were to have one, it’d be with you.”
“Why?”
“Well,” you started. “Where’s there to start? You’re such a sweet, patient man. The most selfless I’ve met. You love to have fun, but you also understand when to be serious. I don’t really have to worry about you…well, only most of the time,” you corrected yourself with a slight giggle. “I think you’d be a great dad one day, like a second chance.”
The smile slowly appeared on his lips, a genuine, heartfelt smile that would have lit up the room. “I…” he paused for a moment. “You are too good to me, darlin’.”
“I could say the same about you, Arthur,” you leaned in to place a quick kiss on his lips. “You’re the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time.”
He chuckled softly in response. “You too, sweetheart…” he took a deep breath. “Hell, I…”
You waited for him to continue, yet no words were uttered. “Yes?” You prompted him.
“I…I love you, Y/N.” He said quietly, a ghost of a stammer from nerves hidden in his voice.
You blinked, unsure if you heard that properly. “Y-you what?”
“I love you,” he repeated, his eyes shifting after seeing your dumbfounded expression. His face changed immediately. “Sorry, I-“
You interrupted him with a kiss, locking his face between your palms as you pressed your lips to his. He tensed, most likely from surprise, though eased after a short moment. His hand found your chin, holding it gently as the two of you kissed. It was tender, soft, though full of emotion. You only pulled back for air, though your smile was ear to ear.
“I love you too.” You finally answered.
His eyes widened, staring at you in mild shock. “You…you sure, darlin’?”
You nodded, keeping your gaze steady with his. "As sure as I can get. I love you, Arthur Morgan.”
The smile reappeared his face as the disbelief melted away. He reached out, gently caressing you as he pulled you into another kiss, this time more passionate.

2019 is over. Here are a few things I loved.
This year went by way too fast and occasionally I feel like I haven’t done anything, haven’t experienced anything. Busy with a full-time job time flies by and it’s been way too quiet on here. However, in the last couple of days I reflected on the musical side of the year, wondering if I experienced as little as I think and remembered some very fine moments, concerts, album I fell utterly in love with and new discoveries.
Orville Peck is the combination of all. I did an interview with him earlier this year and he has been such a great conversation partner and seeing him live just made be fall in love forever and always. I’m fascinated by the way he creates his character on stage and his performance – somewhere between a Country star and the theatrical elements of an musical and musically influenced by all kind of genres, even punk and grunge. I kept returning to his debut album “Pony” all year long. This love won’t be over anytime soon.
youtube
Most loved concerts in 2019 in no particular order:
Patti Smith.
Archive. Favorite all-time band. 25. Anniversary concert in Paris. Do I need to say more? This band keeps being incredible.
Reignwolf returned to Berlin with a new album “Hear Me Out” and it was one hell of a show. Purest Rock’n’Roll. Sweat was involved.
The Raconteurs. 10 years. It was about time. I went to see them in London, Cologne and Berlin and it was such a joy!
KISS. The best. The last concert in Berlin. Perfect.
Caspian are an absolute must live. They always made me feel all the feeling – joy and sadness were lying so close when I saw them live in Dresden. They didn’t play in Berlin this year, so I had to travel to the nearest town.
Ida Mae are such a wonderful, heartfelt band. I saw them a few times this year and every time they got better and better. Glad they are stubborn and wouldn’t want to be a country pop duo but a very fine Blues influenced Folk music.
Low Cut Connie was a complete surprise. I remember winning the tickets and thinking I’d see a nice quite Folk band as I haven’t checked their out beforehand. Boy, was I wrong! Jerry Lee Lewis meets Elvis meets Elton John. What a live band – within a  minute they had me dancing.
Faces On TV got me dancing.
North Mississippi Allstars reminded me what (live) music is for when I almost forgot it: to make you forget about daily life and enjoy the moment. What amazing talents and what a joy of playing live.
The Picturebooks are another band to save Rock’n’Roll. Always fun to watch.
Matt Andersen doesn’t need much. He just sits there with his guitar and it’s all you need. He makes you dance, feel, laugh. His energy and laughter always blows me away.
My favorite festivals couldn’t be more different from each other: Watt En Schlick on the beaches of Dangast, Germany, this August and the UK version of AmericanaFest which takes place in a couple of small clubs in Hackney, London, UK. Both are not very big and feel just intimate in a way. Friendly people who organize the festivals, great audience and the selection of the artists is very diverse. I loved both festivals.
Albums, EPs or songs that have been played a whole lot this year in no particular order: The Raconteurs “Help Us Stranger” – I’ve been waiting for this album 10 years and I’m so glad these four found their way back into the studio.
Reuben And The Dark “UnLove” – I love Reuben voice for so many years but with “UnLove” it felt like a renewed love. Especially the song “Breath” gets me every single time.
Poor Nameless Boy “Wake Up Call” – for reasons I don’t understand his music always feels like home, very comfortable, even when the topics are not that comfortable.
deFrance “Second Wind” – I should’ve written a review about it. I met Drew DeFrance earlier this year at Americana Fest UK when he played guitar for Arkansas Dave. “Second Wind” is a bit of old school Rock’n’Roll, some Friday night music but for me it just doesn’t get boring. I enjoy it so much and feel terrible for not writing the deserved review about it. Listen to them. Just do it.
Arkansas Dave “Live at Music in the Park at Montreux Festival” – Dave’s live energy is fantastic. I travelled to AmericanaFest London in January 2019 mainly to see him live and he’s so good. The live recordings from the Montreux Festival capture his energy on stage perfectly. Rock, blues and fabulous guitar play. Great dude as well. Hopefully I get to see him again in 2020.
Great Defeat – “A supergroup of bands you’ve never heard of” is written in their twitter bio but I know the bands and I love them and therefore I love this band.
Sunset Sons “Blood Rush Déjà vu” – “Alien” on repeat.
The Glorious Sons “A War on Everything” – Actually my album of the year, with “Panik Attack” being my hymn for the year.
youtube
Blown Away Soundtrack – It’s a movie by two guys travelling the world, meeting musicians in every country and compiling this wonderful record. My favorite song is “Radiate” with Jack Mantis. I saw it live after the movie was shown in Berlin and couldn’t forget it.
Sam Isaac “This Year” – This EP is the reason you shouldn’t start your End of the Year list beginning of December. It was released on the 27th of December. He could have joined Great Defeat as my love for his music come from the same time and because of the same record label Alcopop. I stumbled over his new EP on the 27th when it was released. I didn’t knew it was coming. That evening I listened to it until I fell asleep.
My favorite new discoveries:
Rival Karma are so much fun. Gotta love this bearded, guitar/drum, rock’n’roll duo.
Rosborough has a sweet Irish accent and makes heartfelt music.
I found Ian Noe through an instagram post of Jason Momoa. What a beautiful deep voice!
Beranger are super fun. Their concerts are fun. They have classical piano and Pop and Beranger is an entertainer par excellence. Whether it’s on a small floating stage or a sold out venue in Berlin. He plays Mauerpark, Berlin, and there you just can’t sit quietly on your piano to have the people stop at your place. Certainly one’s to watch.
Willie Jones combines Rap with Country. Sounds like it doesn’t fit? When Willie Jones takes care of it, it’s a perfect match but to experience his music to the fullest you got to see him live!
And now let’s get 2020 started with a bit more live music and a few more words written!
Thank you for reading,
Dörte

Sterek Fic Recs: The Future Fic Edition
Tumblr media
Homing Mechanisms by @sterekationstation
“Magnetoreception: The sense which allows an organism to detect a magnetic field to perceive direction, altitude or location. How birds find their way home.
Stiles returns to Beacon Hills after four years at Stanford, only to find out that Derek has moved back into town. He brings him a housewarming gift. Derek makes food. Things escalate from there.”
Derek Hale and happiness - the ultimate kink - a sentiment shared by Stiles in this fic. It’s just perfectly done - both of our fave boys back in Beacon Hills and finally, finally able to settle and be happy. Favourite line including ‘Stiles’ brain bluescreens for a second when he sees how dark Derek’s eyes are.”
The House That Built Us by @cleverlittlekitt
“"I like open concept,“ Stiles says, and Derek wonders briefly if he is simply thinking out loud. "And lots of seating. Like, maybe a big, cushy sectional. A couple of recliners. Lots of room to lounge.”
Derek nods, mostly out of habit. He’s become accustomed to hearing Stiles without really listening to him.”
Derek builds a house, Stiles doesn’t understand, until he does. This is so sweetly done, Derek is so lovely, and the final scenes in the house with dinner and the tour are perfect.
How It’s Meant To Be by tangentialives
“"Hey,“ Stiles says, breaking the silence as he leans against the side of the Jeep, which has miraculously somehow survived everything.
"Hey,” Derek replies, a ready smirk curling the edge of his mouth. He’s always ready to smile when Stiles is around: it just seems to happen that way.
Again, Stiles says, “Hey.” Derek waits expectantly, and Stiles pushes off the Jeep, shoving his hands into his pockets and ambling towards Derek like he’s got all the time in the world. “Do you want to get something to eat?” he asks, the quiet confidence that Derek will say yes making the timbre of his voice a little lower than usual.”
This is short, but sweet, and totally lovely. Just what we want to happen to these two - naturally falling into one another.
Believer and a Homecoming by lsdme
“I’m serious Derek,” Stiles whispers. “Come home.”
Okay so “gratuitous beards” and “explicit peace” are both tags on this work which I feel negate any need for me to wax lyrical about it. BUT IM GONNA ANYWAY. This whole fic is just. Ugh. It’s just so satisfying and achingly sweet, and Stiles has no idea until he does. And Derek is so hopeful and open and so surprised that he is loved and I could cry at how much he deserves this ending.
Testing the Waters by @coyotequeens
“Prompt fill: “I would LOVE a future!fic where Stiles randomly bumps into Derek, maybe in nyc. He’s in college now or maybe even post college, and this is their first time interacting since Derek left Beacon Hills. Stiles is obviously SMOKING HOT now and Derek finally got his shit together and is a successful 30 something.”
This is awesome - Derek is settled and content and he has friends and a job and he’s happy okay? And then Stiles shows up and it’s even better. In such a short fic with no ‘plot’ grimm just writes such a believable experience and it feels like the start of the future.
How To Be a Normal Person by drunktuesdays
“Instead he sits for a moment, looking at the empty search box, fingers on the home row the way his mother taught him. He thinks about that, and about the hole in the wall he’d lived with for so long, and the way Isaac had grinned at him last night when he’d finally gotten around to plugging the refrigerator in.
He finds himself typing in, “how to be a normal person.””
This is just brilliant. Hilarious and tragic and heartfelt all at once, I love this Derek who doesn’t have his shit together, I love his growth. I love Trixie more than possibly anything in the world. And Stiles totally loves Derek. So, you know, it’s all good.
Inexorable by @notthequiettype
“Derek might never admit what he wants from Stiles, what he’s wanted for so long, but Stiles is okay with that most days. It’s been years of this low thrumming, pulsing want between them and Stiles thinks of it like a living thing, warm and familiar and constant.”
I just really like the way this plays out - Derek’s restraint (for so many reasons) and Stiles actually being content with how things are, but still needing to mention it, to push. Because he’s Stiles and because he knows that he and Derek deserve more. So lovely.
Sunshine (Walking On) by JenNova
“Derek Hale has a good day. (There is ice cream.)”
All of this is good. The whole fic is just filled with such warmth and gentleness and love it’s just a delight to read. Derek Hale is happy here, so so happy. You will be smiling the whole way through.
Kiss Me On This Cold December Night by @leslieknopeismyspiritanimal
“The hairs on the back of Stiles’ neck tingle, and he swallows hard against the unmistakable sensation of someone staring at him. He’s tempted to just ignore it, but after a few seconds, his curiosity wins out and he looks up from his phone instead. He doesn’t notice anything right away, flicking his gaze along the people on the other side of the intersection until he suddenly stops and backtracks. It’s a little hard to see, what with the thick drizzle and the cars whizzing between them, but he would recognize that glorious bearded face anywhere, even after six years. Holy shit.”
Well. This is so damn good okay? We’ve got grown up Stiles with his own career, and Derek who is an architect and has had therapy and is happy and safe and well adjusted. AND THIS IS THEIR MOMENT. Cue Stiles getting all hot and bothered by Derek successfully adulting , and Derek being blown away by Stiles’ everything. And there’s Christmas. So you know I’m in love with this fic.
A Work In Progress by @alittledizzy
“Stiles and Derek - they take their time, but they’re getting there. And that’s okay with them.”
In which Derek waited, Stiles grew up, they both healed, and their potential unfurls. This is a really lovely fic.
I know my kingdom awaits and they’ve forgiven my mistakes by @bleep0bleep
“It’s now, watching the fading rays of the afternoon sun on the longest day of the summer, that it becomes more and more apparent that Stiles needs a car. Stiles gets a text message from an unexpected someone. And a gift.”
This is such a great little fic - you get so much story in such a short space and the miles of unspoken words between Stiles and Derek are so present. It’s pre-slash and its so tantalising and hopeful - just awesome.
