♡‧₊˚ Neighbor!Matt x Brat!Reader - Let Us Happen (February Au Special)
It had been a week since he saw you last; since he had you coming undone, pressed against the tile walls of your shower, his hand tangled through your sex crazed hair while he talked you through your orgasm, leaving a trail of sloppy kisses down your neck. You couldn’t get him out of your mind. Every time he wound up at your doorstep, he wound up in your bed by the end of the night. You didn’t know what was going on between you and the man who lived in the apartment above you, but one you did know was you craved any type of attention from him. It didn’t matter if it was physically, mentally, or emotionally — you craved it.
Music bumps through the surround sound connected to your tv, you were hosting a girls night for a few of your friends, since it was the first weekend of February. Mixed drinks, charcuterie boards, and a good game truth or drink were the plans for the night. You knew most of the girls would be too wasted to get home safely, much like nights out at the bar, so you were prepared for the sleepover that awaited ahead.
“Take another one!” one of your besties shouts, forcing another shot glass into your hand. The clear liquid spills down hands, making the potent alcohol a bit more identifiable. A shiver shoots down your spine as you pinch the bridge of your nose, gulping the shot down in a hurry, your throat and chest burning from the after effect. Twisting your face in disgust, you slam the shot glass on the table, “Gahh! — that’s fucking disgusting,” as you gasp for air. Your reaction earns a giggle from her, “s’not that bad.” She was definitely the friend that had no tolerance and spent her night getting everyone around her drunk as fuck. You loved her, though.
“Uhmm, Y/N?” one of the girls chimes in from across the kitchen table, making you look up to her. You quickly follow her gaze, only to set your eyes on a messy-haired Matt leaning against your door frame with his hands stuffed in the pockets of his hoodie and a smirk stretched across his face. The music fades out, almost like it's on cue, as you look back at your friends who were gossiping amongst each other, probably because you hadn’t told any of them about the steamy hookups you had been sharing with the boy standing in front of them. One thing you learned over the years, never brag about good dick because other bitches love to go after it. You’d be damned if you saw one of your ‘friends’ exiting his apartment, the feminine rage would make you explode in an instant. As much as you loved your girls, you'd learned your lesson – on more than one occasion – when it came to gossiping about one your new boy toys. You knew not to make that mistake again, especially with a guy like Matt.
You eye him down, rolling your eyes as you pull yourself to your feet. What the hell was he doing? The room fills with whispers and giggles as you stride towards Matt, the alcohol in your system makes you stumble a bit, “what do you want?” A faint mixture of his cologne and weed engulfs your nose as soon as you plant your feet in front of him, holding onto the door to steady yourself.
Matt raises an eyebrow at the sharpness in your tone, a small smile playing at the corner of his lips as he pushes himself off the doorframe. He knew you were pissed at him, but it was adorable how you looked when you were so annoyed with him. It was amusing to him how you had been avoiding him in the stairwells, ignoring all his calls and texts once again. He loved the chase. He clears his throat, “I wanna talk to you,” the sly smile making itself known as he says his next words, “princess.”
He tests the waters with the magic pet name, both of you aware it always left a pool in your panties each time he said it. His comment earns a gasp from one of the girls behind you, making you cringe, “what’s there to talk about? I’m busy right now,” your eyes falling to the side like you're motioning to the small group behind you. You were the host after all. How rude would it be to ditch your girls just to get fucked senseless by the only guy you had been hooking up with?
“Oh, I don’t know,” he coos teasingly, “maybe the fact that you’ve been ignoring me since I had you —,” his hands traveling up to your face to sweep a strand of hair behind your ear.
“Okay — okay,” you speak above him, a bit surprised he’d tell your business to the room. If he was willing to do that than what other secrets was he willing to spill? Irritation boils in your gut as you tighten your grip on the door, ready to slam it in his face. Matt raises his eyebrows at you, letting you know he wasn’t leaving even if you closed it. You let out a sigh, “we really have to do this right now — right here?” The desperation seeps through your voice as you whine at him, your reaction earning a chuckle from the back of his throat. He was very keen on your tricks by now.
“No, we’re not doing this tomorrow,” he grumbles, his blue eyes fixed on you. his brows crunched together in a combative manner, “you’ve been being a brat for too long. This conversation is happening now.”
“Matt,” you whine, stomping your foot on the floor. He didn't care about your dramatics – no way in hell had he been giving you the best dick of your life just for you to ignore his existence the very next day. Pissed, he takes a hold of your wrist, pulling you out of your apartment and into the hallway, in one swift movement. His tight grip around your wrist earning a gasp from you, he looks up to your group of friends behind you, “jus’ burrowing her for a minute, ladies — carry on.” Your friends watch the door slam behind the two of you, erupting in giggles and gossip as it does so.
“Matt, you can’t just —,” you scold him, thrashing in his grip before he cuts you off, smashing his lips into yours like he always did. It was obvious he had a bad habit of kissing you at the worst times, always when you were fuming and never when you really wanted it. Your soft lips dance against his plump ones, the magnetic force pulling your bodies together instantaneously. His hands clasp around your waist, and he attempts to pull away. Only to fight the urge, walking you backwards until your back is pressed against the wall, his arms pinning you in. Your fists make balls into the thick material of his hoodie, rolling your body against his as your way of telling him to never stop.
Once he finally breaks away, staring down at you with a hard lust filled gaze, “just stop fighting it — let us happen,” he whispers, his face so close to yours you can smell the minty freshness of his breath. Redness creeps to your cheeks and you trap your bottom lip between your teeth, looking up at him with those seductive siren eyes he loved so much. Completely under his hypnotic trance, you nod in agreement. What was this man doing to you?

june 9, 2021.
"if.. if i were to disappear, someday.." the tired girl beside you murmured, "..would you wait for me?.."
the unexpected question made you shake off your exhaustion, you tilted you head upwards at your lover, "sae.. what are you saying?" you bat your lashes at her in disbelief. a weary smile plastered across your face. unsure of the true meaning behind the query.
"don't ask, just answer." she retorted, a different emotion you had never seen before from her laced her voice. was it.. fear?
you were both in the living room sofa legs and arms tangled together, bodies intertwined at your tight, shared apartment. your stomach begins to twist more and more with each second you spent overanalyzing the question.
"really, sae-byeok? you ask such weird-" you forced a giggle before sae-byeok stops you.
"please.. please. just answer." there was a tinge of irritation in her voice, something was definitely wrong.
you mustered up every bit of strength left in your body to answer. "yeah! of course i would silly.. i'd wait for you in every single lifetime." you smiled innocently.
the short-haired girl beside you tore her gaze away from the tv that was playing your beloved soap opera. you noticed her eyes were practically bulging out of her sockets, her eyes fixated on you with furrowed eyebrows. her lips curled into a faint frown. it almost looked.. sorrowful. as if she was whispering an apology without a single word.
"what's wrong?" you asked sweetly. eyes tracing the shadows in hers, searching for echoes of emotion.
she didn't say anything — instead, she placed her trembling, cold hands on the nape of your neck and pressed a kiss to your temple, as if sealing a fragile promise.
you hummed in contentment, forgetting about the uncanny conversation you both had as you snuggled closer to her, taking in her scent of cheap cologne and cedarwood, before quietly drifting to sleep.
unbeknownst to your conscious mind, sae-byeok was quietly shuddering and sobbing while cradling you tight. afraid you'd slip away. tears streamed down her constellated cheeks. leaving wet, sloppy kisses on your skin and lips.
with the final gentle peck on the tip of your nose, she slipped away from your loving grasp.
she stepped into the night— into the arms of fate, never to return.
june 21, 2021.
the bright sunlight seeped through the cracks of your blinds, a gentle cascade of gold that pooled on to your messy bed.
you squinted and scratched your eyes at the harsh light, feeling around the covers for your reading glasses. putting them on once you find the pair of spectacles. your under-eyes were painted black, the aftermath of crying the night before, your eyebags told their own story of a broken heart.
oh,
another day.
you thought to yourself.
you turned over to your bedside table, trying to make sense of the neon numbers that flickered on your alarm clock
11.55...
you didn't feel like getting up. there was nothing left to look forward to in life after the disappearance of your one true love. the vibrant colors of life had dulled to a muted grey, just like the hollow ache that filled your chest ever since she walked away, leaving nothing but a lonely apartment and the ghost of her prescence.
but seong gi-hun had other plans.
buzz. buzz. buzz.
he repeatedly pushed the doorbell in front of the door of your apartment with such urgency that not even a normal person would have.
you groaned at the repeated hum of the apartment doorbell, letting out a bitter laugh as you buried your head further into your pillowcase.
"alright.. i'm coming.. i'm coming!" you yelled out from your wrecked bedroom, the hem of your pearlescent night gown caught on the edge of your bed, tugging at you, pulling you back to the reality you didn’t want to face. you groggily shook the loose string off before shuffling your way to the front door.
you swung open the front door to be greeted with an ill looking uncle with an awful red-dye job standing awkwardly with his finger still hovering over the doorbell, as if caught in the act of interrupting your solitude.
"can i help you?" your small hoarse voice rang through the silence. you took notice of your messy hair, running a hand through it trying to smooth it down, but it was hopeless.
"oh.. oh, yeah. are you.." he stammered, glancing down at a crumpled piece of grid paper in his hand. "(y/n)?" the red haired man murmured.
you nodded hesitantly, stomach twisting with an unease you couldn’t place. "yeah. yeah that's me, what is this about?" you tapped your foot rhythmically on the floorboard of your entrance, looking rather agitated and impatient.
"i'm.. seong gi-hun." the man gulped, a pitiful look shined in his eyes. "we need to talk about.. your girlfriend, kang sae-byeok?"
you felt your world crumbling down on you at sound of her name.
the name that used to taste oh, so sweet at the tip of your tongue now felt like an anchor, dragging you under the weight of memories you weren’t ready to face.
sae-byeok? kang sae-byeok. your kang sae-byeok?
what happened to her? how did this man know who you are? how did he find you?
a million different questions stormed your mind as you disassociate yourself from the conversation. all you could do was stare. frozen.
before you knew it, you were seated on the couch, the same one she had left you on that one fateful night.
"she's.. dead. (y/n).."
no.
the weight of his words pressed against your chest. stealing the breath from your lungs. you curled your fingers into fists, knuckles turning white, your long nails digging to the skin of your palms.
"no.. that's- no you're wrong." you let out a shaky breath. "not my sae-byeok. definitely not my sae-byeok. she's not dead.." your voice cracked.
you saw the look in his eyes, a raw emotion radiating from them. the hard, cold news that laid on top of your chest? they punched through, leaving hollow mark on your body.
the absurdity of it all made you bubble up a wild, manic laugh. not long after, a loud sob wracked your body, sudden and violent.
"i-i'm sorry (y/n), i tried my best to save her.. but someone else had already gotten to her first."
you didn't pay attention to gi-hun's words or explanation of the 'games' that they were forced to play for an unbelievable sum of money. your fingers twitched at your sides, grasping at nothing, searching for something—someone—to hold onto. you held onto a piece of her, but all that remained was emptiness.
"she.. she almost made it to the final game, she fought her hardest! she really did. but.. she succumbed to her injuries."
"sae-byeok died in my arms. her final breath whispered your name. she begged me to cling to life, so that in my survival, you might find the closure she longed for.”
a scream built up in your throat, you shook your head frantically at each word that came out of the man.
"why?" you choked, your lips quivering with such intensity. "why.. why didn't she tell me? i would've been by her side."
fat tears started to roll down your face as you sunk into the sofa, "why didn't she tell me she was struggling?"
your cries punctured through gi-hun's heart, emotions welled up inside him.
"i'm sorry.. i'm truly sorry.." he shut his eyes closed, surpressing his tears.
you buried your face in your hands, gi-hun ushered himself by your side, patting your back. as if offering a sliver of comfort in a sea of grief.
sae-byeok..
sae..
her name echoed through your mind, your brain's hard drive overloading with the thought of her.
did she feel alone in her last moments?
did she felt upset? fear? as she slipped into her death?
did she know she’d never see me again?
where did they put her body?
i should've paid more attention to her!
sae-byeok, i'm sorry..
oh cheol.. how am i going to break the news to him?
i'm never gonna see her again! your thoughts wailed
you kept scolding yourself burying your face deeper into your heavy palms. trying to hide from the world.
the world that kept spinning, even after her death.
clink.
you uncovered your face at the sound of a light clink that snapped you out of your spiral.
a gold, antique key presented in front of you by mr. gi-hun.
you looked up at the man, he seemed to be getting ready to leave.
"sae-byeok, she.. she slipped this in the pocket of my tux." gi-hun mumbled.
"she said it opened a chest, somewhere.. somewhere in her study desk."
your heart skipped a beat.
the chest.
it was a medium-sized storage chest that sae-byeok had thrifted a few years back, collecting dust on top of her study desk. it's exterior was wood, now darkened with age, etched with delicate cracks like the veins of an autumn leaf.
gi-hun was already long gone when you finally found the strength to stand on your legs and move towards the chest.
you inserted the icy-cold key into the keyhole, using a hundred percent of your body strength that is left in you, to turn the key and make it creak open. particles of dust flew in the air surrounding you. you hack and cough at the soot.
inside, there laid a black, hard-covered journal that was about 500 pages thick and loose pieces of parchment that you had never seen before.
you traced the journal with such care, as you unlatch the magnet of the book. suspense building up inside of your chest as you are met with the first page.
a knot tightening in your chest.
'kang sae-byeok' written in a familiar, cursive handwriting. your heart ached.
i can't do this, you thought to yourself.
the tears welled up again.
the urge to cry out her name deepens in you. you whimpered at the sight of her messy handwriting. you missed her so much.
you shook off your tears. reaching to flip over to the first entry.
january 3rd, 2019.
the gears on your mind turned, as you try to remember the significance of that date to sae-byeok.
your breath hitched in realization, a wave of emotions engulfed you.
"oh, sae.."
january 3, 2019.
entry #1 —
she is going to be a problem.
an awfully loud girl waltzed in to the café today. dressed head to toe in clothes that i would never be caught dead in. her friends stuck by her side like lost, blind puppies.
she ordered chamomile tea with cinnamon ginger biscuit on the side.
despite my silence, despite the way I barely looked up— she spoke to me.
she spoke to me?
i did not want to talk to her.
her eyes crinkles when she smiled, lips curling in a knowing laugh, as if she saw through me, as if she found me amusing.
her friends shared silent laughs and snickers behind her, but she didn’t pay attention too much.
i despise the way she acts.
..
"oh my, are those freckles real..? they're so pretty!" you admired the starry speckles that painted her cheeks. your words too gentle.
sae-byeok was unmoved, untouched.
an embarrassed, hardened expression crept up her face.
..
january 5, 2019.
entry #2 —
she came back again, the loud girl.
but this time, she was alone— quieter, more restrained, a shadow of the girl from before.
from what i've observed, i guess she was just putting on a facade in front of her friends. to.. impress them?
i mean i get it.. kind of.
she still annoys me though.
while i was taking her usual order, she gave me her name.
..
"(y/n)" you said softly, your fingers brushed the warm cafe counter.
sae-byeok looked at you, confusion evident in her expression.
"what?"
"my name.." you started, playing with your fingers, twisting and turning them. "..is (y/n)
"oh.." sae-byeok mumbled, her reaction was underwhelming. "pretty." she added, struggling to find the right words.
sae-byeok's face turned tomato red.
she facepalmed herself. what was she thinking? pretty? that's too straightforward.
"sae-byeok" the tall girl mustered up a courage to give her name in exchange, wishing you’d wipe the grin off your face.
"wow.." you sigh. "..pretty!" you mimicked the girl's reply.
the heat that built up in sae-byeok's chest threatened to explode, but she held back.

entry #9 —
(y/n) visited the café again today.
the past few times, she had only stopped by for takeaway, her presence fleeting like a passing breeze.
i never spoke to her, only watched from a quiet distance.
she's not all that bad after all, i guess. actually, we had some things in common.
she was studying psychology at a nearby university, and had started her 1st semester.
if money didn’t hold me back, i'd be studying psychology by this time too.
she was my age — 18 years old.
it was rare to have someone my age around. my days were filled with the company of middle-aged men and kind old aunties, their lives so far removed from my own. but then, there was her.
every time she smiles and the sun reflects her eyes, the way her hair flows like a cascade of silk as she throws her head back in laughter, or whenever she places her delicate, polished hands on my forearm in agreement —just for a second—I feel something stir deep within me.
..it does something to me.
something i've never felt before.
i can't shake it off.
do-hee, my co-worker, said that it was blatant flirting. but i dismissed her.
me? the subject of someone’s interest?
yeah right.
she is a mystery to me, an unraveling poem—every glance, every gesture, a verse waiting to be discovered.
i need to get to know her.
i hope she comes back tomorrow.
..
"are you saying you've never watched train to busan?" you laughed, appalled at the tall girl's answer.
she shrugged, "well.. yeah.. do i have to?"
"oh, absolutely sae. be prepared with tissue boxes though. it's not going to look pretty."
"s-sae..?"
"yeah! a new nickname for you.. you don't like it..?"
"no.. no. i'm okay with it." sae-byeok gave you a faltering smile. but you caught the flicker of uncertainty before it faded away.

entry #15 —
i spent my lunch break with her today.
she stumbled into the café again in the late afternoon, the familiar chime of the door announcing her arrival.
i had her order memorized.
before she came in, it was already typed out on the register.
she opened up about herself, how she was struggling to pay her college tuition, all the while taking care of her sick mother.
and i might've opened up to her too..
i told her about cheol, mom.
somehow, in the quiet exchange of burdens, we found an understanding of each other.
and it made me.. glad?
whenever she'd nod her head, offering soft words of comfort.. i feel as if it’s like hearing your own heartbeat mirrored in another's, like a quiet confirmation that you're maybe, not alone in the world.
i thought i'd hate spending time with someone like her, but these past few weeks? they've been some of the best of my life.
was it because of her..? maybe.
screw it. i'm going to bed.
..
"i get it." sae-byeoks words shook your core, she was usually the listener in the conversation. but this time, she opened up. you the best you can and listened to her
"i.. im a north korean defector," she whispered. waiting for your reaction.
she braced herself. she expected you to laugh at her, or be scared of her, maybe say how miserable of a person she is, for anything that might confirm what she had always believed—that she was unworthy of kindness.
but no, you sat there. silently listening, you pursed your lips into a thin line, encouraging her to continue.
sae-byeok’s heart swelled.
"and i didnt defect alone.. my brother, cheol. he escaped with me. this past year i've been trying my hardest to earn and save up for money to pay for a broker for my mom. she's still in the north." she explained, she shifted in her seat. her eyes focused on the swishing of coffee in her porcelain mug.
"oh, sae-byeok. i'm so sorry. i didn't know you were going through all of that." your lips curled into a frown.
"you have me by your side, so.. if you need anything.. don't hesitate to call me. yeah?" you assured her sweetly.
sae-byeok's tough exterior melted away.
she looked up at you. a new expression found in her eyes. hope.
no one has ever been this gentle, this kind to her in her life. you were something to sae-byeok alright. that day she was sure of it.
your words held so much affection towards her and she felt full of love and care by you.
your words filled her with something she had rarely known—love.
but with love came fear.
getting close to you meant risking everything. What if she dragged you down with her?
she didn't want you to be with someone who's a criminal, a pickpocketer like herself.
she didn't want to disappoint to you. so she held back.
"little brother you say?"
sae-byeok nodded her head ever so gently.
"can i meet him?"
..

entry #27 —
i'm taking her to meet my brother today.
as I mentioned before, she’s been coming to the café more often. my lunch breaks have become a quiet routine with her by my side, her books spread across the table, the soft scratch of her pen filling the silence between us.
spending 4 weeks of work with her.. it felt more natural and enjoyable.
even my co-workers ask about her, but i bitterly shrug them off like i usually do.
i guess they took notice the effect she had on me. how whenever she talks, i reply with a gentleness that is rare.
i said that i wouldn't want her to be close with someone like me,
but i think i don't care anymore.
not after what happened today.
..
"cheol-ah, this is my friend, (name)." sae-byeok introduced you to her little brother. she snaked her hand into the small of your back, gently pushing you towards the boy who was staring up at you.
"hi, cheol!" you greeted the boy. warmness in your voice.
cheol looked hesitant to answer, but he manage to squeak out a little 'hi' before running to sae-byeok's side.
"come on cheol don't be rude." sae-byeok pestered.
you were quick to think : "hey, i heard you liked coloring, cheol." you kneeled beside him reaching for your tote bag.
the boy nodded and peeked curiously at what you were scouring for in your bag.
you revealed a set of acrylic markers, all the colors of the rainbow, neatly arranged.
cheol's eyes brightened in excitement. "wow!"
"would you like to draw with me cheol?" you asked, voice full of hope.
"yeah!" cheol nodded, basically leaving sae-byeok's side to join yours. ugging you towards a low table scattered with drawing paper.
sae-byeok was surprised to see how open cheol was to you. she decided she would just observe from afar from today.
to sae-byeok, watching you and cheol together felt like witnessing a quiet, simple magic unfold.
the way you patiently guide his hands to draw shapes and doodles, the way you laughed at cheol's little jokes, your smiles mirroring each other, how you both share the same expression of seriousness while coloring in your finished sketches.
it was pure, unhurried—a bond forming over the simple joy of drawing.
it pulled on sae-byeok's heartstrings. the room felt warmer, softer, as the colors on the paper grew brighter. that day, she put on her most genuine smile ever, watching as the bond between you and cheol deepened.
and so does sae-byeok's love does for you.

entry #29—
i did it.
i asked her out for dinner.
i can't believe i did it. i never thought i'd be after someone like her.
every day feels lighter knowing she might walk through the café doors at any moment.
that she’ll sit across from me, books spread out, coffee in hand, offering me fleeting glances that leave my heart a little less steady from the work stress.
i want to tell her that, but something is holding me back.
i asked her out to the diner just down the block, the one with the tall milkshakes and the warm glow of neon lights.
and she said yes.
i think i convulsed in my seat after her response because everything was a haze after that. my ears are still ringing.
i don't know why i feel like this. i'm not used to feeling affectionate towards somebody like i feel for her. it’s unfamiliar, uncharted territory.
someone help me figure this out.
..
"hey.." sae-byeok’s voice wavered, the crack in it betraying her nerves., earning a quiet giggle from you.
"yeah, sae?"
oh, she was doomed.
she ran her calloused hands through her hair, obviously nervous.
"would you like to have dinner with me? tomorrow? at haneul's diner down the street?"
"dinner?" you repeated with a toothy grin, "sae, i'd love to!"
let's just say she got off work all giddy that day.
..

entry #30 —
today was amazing.
i know it sounds cheesy, but it was everything that i could've hoped and dreamed for.
i'm so infatuated and lovesick by her.
there i admit it.
dinner was great, she was very.. touchy, tonight.
i like it.
we took our first photo together at the 1,000 won photobooth outside the diner.
and i kissed her on the cheek.
for the photo obviously.
sjbkhdjklfjekjwldskjkjdfljk
..
"mmh, sae the burgers here are so good! how come you never told me about this place." you groaned into the smash burger, savoring the taste. "and it's cheap too!?"
"i guess i've been hiding it from you for this exact moment." she smiled sheepishly, rubbing the nape of her neck.
a blush crept up your face.
everything that came out of sae-byeok's mouth, it was special to you. even if it sometimes come out as ridiculous. she made you feel special, wanted.
you both sat back in the plush bright red sofa as you finished your meals, enjoying each others company.
"i like this.. we should do this more often." you suggested, discreetly twriling a strand of hair on your finger.
sae-byeok nodded, her second ever genuine smile made an appearance, "yeah, we should."
you averted your gaze to the outside world, it was a perfect night, quiet and comfortable.
that's when you spot a photobooth right across the street from the diner. your eyes lit up.
"hm? what's wrong?" sae-byeok place her head on her hands, following your gaze. her eyebrows furrowing at the sight of the tiny, crammed photobooth.
"sae, let's do it." you took her hands rubbing your thumb gently on her knuckles as you try to persuade her. "pleaasee?"
she let out a soft sigh, but sae-byeok did not resist.
here you guys are, crammed into a tiny photobooth on a cold night. you perched on sae-byeok's lap, feeling the denim of her jeans scratch at your stockings.
"does this even work? you've been trying to figure the machine out for like what? 2 minutes?" sae-byeok squinted at the screen, unimpressed. not getting the schematics of the photobooth.
nervous energy buzzed through her. you could feel it in the way her leg bounced beneath you, the way her hands fidgeted against your sides. she was basically suffocating at the tight space.
"sae, c'mon stop it! i'm sure it does work.." you stuck your tongue out in concentration as you insert 1000 won into the money slot.
both of your bodies jolt up as you realized a countdown was starting.
"ooh, quick! pose!" you squealed. you pressed your temple against sae-byeok's and stuck your hands up in a peace sign.
sae-byeok was at a lost for words due to the close proximity, but she managed to hold up a similar, weaker version of your pose.
snap!
you tried to think of a new pose, before placing your peace sign behind sae-byeok's head into bunny ears and sticking your tongue out, her fluffy short hair tickling your hand as she looked at you in disbelief.
snap!
sae-byeok's eye softened at your playful expression. looking at how much you were enjoying taking photos with her.. you looked too cute for her tiny heart to handle!
a bold plan brewed in her mind
"ugh, what else.." you mumbled to yourself. deep in thought. as you try to remember what poses your friends would use in their cute instagram posts.
with a swift motion, sae-byeok cupped your cheek with her cold, left hand. and kissed your cheeks sweetly, squishing your faces together. just in time before the camera snaps. capturing your face in shock as she made an exaggerated 'smooch!' noise.
snap!
the ghost of sae-byeok's kiss lingered on your cheek. you brought your fingers up to your cheeks, still in disbelief.
"cat got your tongue, hm? c'mon pose for the last picture." sae-byeok teased casually, her eyes bore on you.
how could she say things like that without fully breaking down at the seams? you wondered.
you gave her a weak, tight-lipped smile before composing yourself.
you shifted in sae-byeok's lap turning your back towards the exit, you reached to cup her face in your warm hands.
sae-byeok melted at the touch, puffing out her cheeks while looking at you lovingly.
"cheese!" you cheered with a big grin on your face for the last picture.
..
you both stumbled out of the booth, hands still tingling, waiting in flustered silence for the photos to print.
the photos popped out of the machine, revealing two strips of black and white polaroids of you both.
"they're perfect!" you cried out, admiring the cute poses and faces you both shared.
"yeah, they are.." sae-byeok sighed, also admiring the photos, contentment washing over her.
first date with you? accomplished.

entry #51—
i have been told all my life that love would never find its way to me,
and i've realized that it was a lie.
because love did find me in my lowest moment, in a form of an adorable kind-hearted psych major i once swore I couldn’t stand.
my days have been fuller —
full of her loving texts lighting up my phone in the morning,
my lunch breaks spent either visiting her campus or her visiting the café to talk about everything and nothing at the same time.
our little dates where we did everything that i wanted to do in my youth but didn't have the time for before.
she softened me in ways I didn’t think possible.
because of her, I started speaking easier, trusting a little more.
because she gave me the hope in humanity that was long gone as soon as i stepped into the real world.
she reminded me that maybe—just maybe—the world wasn’t all bad.
i even gave up pickpocketing for her after we had an argument about how it'd affect my future, how it made her upset. her eyes filled with heartbreak.
she cares about me, and i care for her.
her eyes, nose, lips, hair. all of her
she's the vitamin i had never known i needed. i crave to spend time with her each and every day.
today, i'm going to make her mine.
..
you stepped out of your lecture, exhausted. the weight of the world on your back.
you sighed at the outside world, you usually loved the rain. but today, of all days, did it really have to pour? and on the day you forgot your umbrella?
you sent a quick text to sae-byeok to let her know you've finished school for the day.
chamomile girl ♡ : sae! ^__^ just finished school! chamomile girl ♡ : i'm about to head home.. it's raining outside so i think i'll run to the nearest bus stop!! forgot my umbrella hehe~ chamomile girl ♡ : i'll visit you tonight at the cafe during nearing your closing hours so we could hang out more :3c
my pers♡nal barista : sounds great. :)
you smiled at your phone, tucking it away shortly after you received a text back as you made your way down flights of stairs of your faculty building.
you prepared your tote bag, taking it off to use it as protection from the rain. the soles of your platforms squelching on the now wet entrance of the building before you stopped in your tracks, a small gasp left your lips.
"sae..?"
the short-haired girl stood in front of you, a wide umbrella protecting her from the rain. she was still in her uniform, smiling at you.
you furrowed your eyebrows in confusion but you stepped closer to her. both of you now sheltered under the umbrella.
"hi." she whispered just enough so you could hear it through the sound of trickling rain.
you giggled at her actions, poking at her sides. "hey you!.. what're you doing here?"
"to take you home, obviously." she shoved her left hand into her pockets. "i'm not going to let you get sick from the rain"
your heart exploded with immense love and gratitude. you wanted to say a million things. a million ways to tell her how much this meant, how much she meant.
"now come on, let's get you home." she ushered you to the exit of your campus. her hands wrapped around you.
safe. that's what you felt every time you were with sae-byeok. under sae-byeok’s care, the cold barely reached you.
you had such intense feelings towards the north-korean.
you couldn't keep it in any longer.
the two of you walked in step along the bridge, the city lights flickering in the distance, the rain creating a soft melody around you.
the bridge lead to a more secluded neighborhood, where your apartment was.
you sneaked glances at the tall girl from time to time but every time you'd look, she was already looking at you.
"hm? what's on your mind sae?"
she stopped abruptly, you were startled by this, stumbling into a halt. she took your recently manicured hands in her rough ones.
she takes a deep breath, closing her eyes.
"i like you."
"huh?"
"no, i love you." she corrected herself, swallowing hard. "(y/n), i love you."
"with all my heart. i don't know where i realized that i love you, maybe in our quiet moments or in the middle of our dates full of laughter—but somewhere along the way, you became my favorite part of the day."
you stared at awe at her. is this real life?
"at first i didn't really take interest of you.. then after some time i felt as if it was simple admiration, but now i realized that deep down in my heart, i want to be with you."
the world stilled.
"sae.. i don't know what to say.."
she chuckled nervously, "you don't have to say anything.. i just need you to say yes or no."
your heart thumped harder in the walls of you chest, is this going where i think it is? you thought to yourself.
"can i be your girlfriend?" sae-byeok sputtered out, her body tensing up.
a matching pink flush crept onto both of your faces.
you took a moment to register the question, your ears rang before fusing with the sound of rain falling and hitting the ground.
"finally," you giggled. your laughter was light and it felt like a sweet relief to sae-byeok.
"yes, sae. i'd love you to be my girlfriend."
"r-really?" she stammered. "you do?"
you nodded, snorting all the while giggling at her child-like response.
in the midst of the sound of your voice echoing through the open bridge. you heard a loud sob coming from the tall girl towering in front of you.
your laughter faded as you looked up at her in shock. your eyes widened at the rare sight of sae-byeok crying.
"oh no, baby.. what's wrong?" you cooed, quickly shuffling to her side, you tiptoed and reached for her face, wiping away her tears.
sae-byeok threw her head back, as she tried to shake away her tears. "i..i'm sorry." she sniffled, "i'm just so glad you're my girlfriend now."
you stiffled a gasp at her confession, you chest ached. "aw you're so cute when you're all sappy!"
"shut up!" she whined, her low voice rumbling.
her grip on the umbrella faltered, overwhelmed by emotion. so she placed her head on the nook of your shoulders, leaning her full body weight onto you.
you stumbled at the change of position, quickly wrapping your hands around her torso, hugging her.
"thank you. thank you for giving a chance.." she whispered into your neck, making you shiver.
you weren't used to this vulnerable side of sae-byeok. you loved that you brought a new, better version of her.
without a word, you simply held her tighter, running soothing circles along her back, silently vowing to give her all the love she had ever been denied.
..
your hands slapped over your mouth, your whole body trembled violently, like a fragile leaf caught in a storm.
you could taste your salty tears run down your plump lips as your teeth chattered.
your heart was chipping apart piece by piece the more you read the journal. your fragile heart couldn't bear the weight of reality anymore.
your lover,
the one you thought you'd spend your whole life with.
gone.
and this was all that is left of her..
sae-byeok..
why did she have to leave..?
she was all you had ever since your mother passed away.
she was the only person you clung to in this cruel world.
now you had to face the rest of your life without her.
you decided to not continue reading. saving the remaining pages to lull to into sleep every night.
every day, you read one entry each night. reminiscing the past, daydreaming yourself into the story told on the parchment. whilst imagining the ghost of the love of your life, holding you tight as you cried between the pages.
you neared the end of the journal, until one day you reached..
the last entry from sae-byeok.
but it can't be? the book still had pages left on it, clean, unscathed.
and then you remembered.
oh..
you felt your bones crumbling, your eyes weakened at the date that was messily scratched unto the journal.
june 8, 2021.
entry #563
an entry from the day before she left your life forever.
june 8, 2021.
entry #563—
i don't know how i'm supposed to tell her.
i don't know how i'm supposed to tell her that a man in a ridiculous tight tuxedo went up to me offering money for a game of ddakji a few days ago as i left the station
she would laugh at my face.
she would also laugh at the fact that the man gave his business card, saying that if i called that number, i would be able to play games for money.
honestly it was an absurd claim. but i decided to test it.
they picked me up in the hush of night & drugged me.
i woke up in a sterile, windowless place—crowded with greasy, clueless, no-lifers. and among them, i saw a ghost from my past.
deok-su.
out of all the places i could find him in, it was in that sterile debt jungle.
I took a hard hit from fate that day, but I got up, because I had to.
i was here for her.
i was here for you.
i wanted to pay off all of your debts, college tuition, spoil you endlessly with a shower of gifts.
my debts was also part of the reason why i joined. but darling, nothing could beat seeing you smile.
the first game was red light, green light.
a game that decorated my childhood in the north.
i tried my best to stay calm and collected. but then the worse happened.
a blaring shot ran through and echoed the arena.
an obnoxious, loud, blonde haired man. shot dead. his blood spilling over the sandy ground.
that was the first time in my life i had ever felt true, raw, fear.
fear of leaving you behind in this cruel world without saying goodbye. fear of not being able to touch, hold, or kiss you anymore. fear of your hands reaching for me in the dark, only to find nothing.
deep inside i was instantly regretting my decision but i prayed hard.
i prayed so i could make it out alive.
and my prayers, they were answered.
they sent us home after hearing our protest, cries, pleading. how it was absurd to keep them in such a place like this. a bloodbath.
this morning, i get to come home into your arms again, i was able to throw myself into your arms, to feel the warmth of your body against mine, to hear your voice —even if it was yelling at me for three straight hours.
i didn't care. i just care that you were there.
but i was still unsatisfied.
i couldn't shake the memory of the first thing i saw as i barged into our shared apartment after coming home from the games this morning.
the love of my life,
you..
you were crying
you drowned yourself in tears before your debts did. i felt guilty not giving you the life that you deserve.
remember how the game master let us come home?
we were also given a chance to join back the games.
so i've decided that i'm going to win the games for you.
bring back a heart-stopping amount of money. to pay off your debts, give you everything the world has to offer.
with 45.6 billion won, i could build us a home. i could bring cheol into a life where he never has to go hungry again. i could see my mother again. i could create the small, quiet, beautiful family we always dreamed of.
but if I don’t make it back—
if you made it to this page and it finds you instead of me..
i need you to know that I’m sorry.
i’m sorry I was too weak to find another way.
i'm sorry i couldn't let go of my past, truly, my stubbornness never left.
i’m sorry for every night you’ll spend alone, wondering if I made the right choice, wondering if it was all your fault, which it wasn't.
i’m sorry that i won’t be there to kiss away your tears when you read this. i'm sorry that i won't be able to touch you anymore.
all i wish for you, my beloved is
to live.
live the life you've dreamt of.
you've always wanted to raise kids, so my last wish is for you to raise cheol for me.
i see how much you love him. how much you wished you could sing him lullabies, read him stories to sleep, have him by your side. so every time you look at him, you'd think of me.
marry someone who sees the good in you even in a sea of imperfect.
marry someone who would stay with you even if the whole world was against you.
who'd protect you, love you, cherish you like i did.
just please, don't forget about me.
but if i do make it back—if fate is kinder to me this time—
i’ll tell you all of this myself.
i pray my last moments are spent replaying all the memories i had with you. so i could die with a heart full of love and a smile on my face.
i love you lots and lots like jelly tots.
your personal barista,
kang sae-byeok.
ending notes : hope you guys enjoyed this! almost cried tbh.. should i make a pt.2 happy ending where she comes back but as a guard?

the first time sukuna ryomen hears 212 by azealia banks it’s through the walls of his room that he shares directly with your bathroom. your voice sounds muffled over the loud bass base that is pounding a hole in his head while he’s trying to focus on his pc. he’s trying to write a paper for college and it’s almost impossible with all the noise you have been making. you weren’t a bad neighbor overall - i mean, he has never seen you in person - but the music you would blast while showering was absolutely insufferable to him. you always kept quiet, day and night, never run around or moved furniture. sukuna has been living there for well over a month and everything was going well, apart from the fact that you loved singing in the shower. it was okay the first times, really, but lately the songs kept getting louder and louder. and it was all annoying, girly club music. the one he couldn’t really stomach.
so when he hears the first notes of yet another kim petras’ song he gets up from his chair and bolts out the apartment, ringing at your doorbell. it takes a while for the volume to be turned down, and ever more for you to reach the door. when you crack it slightly open, you see a tall, tattooed, attractive, muscular man looking down at you with pure hatred in his eyes. your brain goes blank and you let the door slip from your hands, opening fully only to reveal your towel-covered body and damp hair. his eyes widen, but never leave your frame or seem to be less angry. “hi?” you say, confused.
“hi.” his voice is deep, his sentences short and cutting “would you mind turning the damn music down?”
“oh” you frown, looking at him from head to toe. you notice how he’s wearing grey sweat pants and a black sabbath’s t-shirt that looks like it has seen better days. his hair is all over the place. a smirk makes its way to your face. “yeah, i would actually mind. i was kinda in the middle of something…” you gesture back to the direction in which the music is still coming from and your towel falls slightly lower.
the stranger’s eyes follow your hands as you pull it up again, rolling them afterwards. “i’m trying to work here.” he gestures (mocking you) at his front door, right next to yours.
“okay?” you purse your lips. “i don’t think that’s any of my business really. i’m just playing some good music.”
“good?” his eyebrows furrow. “you don’t even know what good music is.”
you roll your eyes. “okay, stranger. go ahead and insult me right in my house.” you chuckle ironically, meanwhile ayesha erotica starts playing in the background. “oooh, i love this song!” you squeal, and his eyes dart quickly between the direction in which the music is coming from and your body. your frame hugged by that towel is making him rethink being mad at you.
before he can say anything else, you smile forcefully. “gotta go back in there. byeeee!” and you close the door right in front of his face.
he stands there for a while, eyes widened and twitching. how can you be so hot and yet so annoying? he starts asking himself while walking back to his room. he sits back in his chair and as soon as he decides to surrender for the day and give up on his work, the music finally stops. sighting in relief, he opens his laptop again, still thinking about you and how that little towel wasn’t even covering all that much.
you definitely will be a problem, he thinks, taking a deep breath finally in silence.
or so he thinks, because not even a second later the first notes of paranoid from black sabbath start playing at full volume on your speaker. he laughs with himself. “she’s funny” he mumbles, shaking his head, secretly hoping to bump in you again soon.
sorry guys just had a shower and thought aboyt this. also i love music bye <3 hope you get all my songs references i’m sorry

And thank you again to @coffeebooksrain18 for the moodboard. She does an amazing job, so check her out pls!

The shadow spoke in a breathless whisper, trickling in with the cool breeze of the night, and a hand flew up to her mouth. She held in whatever sound was threatening to burst free and struggled for a minute to remain focused.
I can hear you in my head! Just like I do myself. Oh! Ariadne blinks in a rush, her vision becoming watery. You’re the first voice that I’ve ever heard in my life besides my own! This is incredible! Have I always been able to do this?
Since you were Made.
Does this mean I can talk to anyone now? Ariadne felt like she was going to explode, every one of her limbs trembling as she tried to process exactly what it was that was happening; she could hear - not in a traditional sense, but it was still something - and it was the most exciting thing that she had ever had.
Once you learn.
She supposed that made sense. It would be just like anything else; practice makes perfect and being immortal meant she had nothing but time, right?
Will you… help? Ariadne opens her palm as the shadow circles around before wrapping around her arm. Normally, I’d teach myself but this isn’t exactly the same as what I’ve done in the past. I don’t even know where to start. Does Azriel know you’re here? Did he send you? Does he know too? Does anyone else?
You will be led in the right direction. And no to your other questions.
How did you end up knowing? Especially when no one else did? That was what was bothering her the most. If the shadows were commanded, then why had this one in particular broke away from the rest to come to her?
The shadows gather information from all across Prythian and have come across Daemati before. They are rare, but they are out there. Feyre Cursebreaker is one. We could sense it in you.
Then why wouldn’t Azriel know? Aren’t you supposed to report everything to him?
Not always.
It sounded almost amused at that and Ariadne was beginning to realize that Azriel’s shadows had a mind of their own. Emotion too. That would definitely be something.
But for now, you need to sleep. There are bruises under your eyes.
She rests her other hand in her lap, trailing the tip of her finger along the embroidered filigree. I don’t sleep very well.
You have nightmares.
Her eyes widened a fraction. How did you know that?
When you made the entrance in the wall in your mind, you allowed access to what is inside and everything is chaotic in here. I did not snoop.
A tickling sensation bubbles up in her throat and Ariadne quickly swallows it back down; she didn’t know what her laugh sounded like, so she didn’t do it often. In fact, she couldn’t remember the last time she had laughed.
I don’t know why, but I believe you. I’ll… work on the chaos, the corner of her mouth curves upwards, not quite a smile but it was progress. And I’ll try to sleep too. I won’t make any promises though.
Good. Tomorrow, we will go to the library.
Ariadne’s gaze flicks to the closed door and she nibbles on the inside of her lip. Today was the first time she had left this room and now she was going to do it the very next day? Even if - she had to admit - it wasn’t so bad. Nothing horrible happened to her and she had managed to do what she wanted, almost, on her own.
Surely she could make it to the library and back with a similar result.
Alright, she nods. I can do that.
Of course you can. Sleep now.
The shadow’s whisper leaves her mind and she blinks, feeling around at the opalescent wall to see the opening was still there. How could she close it? Think of it molding back, Ariadne takes a breath. Piece by piece until it’s shut.
She grits her teeth with the effort it takes, a bit of sweat forming on her brow as the pressure builds beneath her skull; her breaths were heavier and there was a flash of bright light behind her eyes, yet she continued on until it began to come together.
It wasn’t happening as fast as she would’ve liked and it hurt, but by that damn Cauldron, she was doing it.
And she couldn’t help the glimmer of pride that shone in her when the opening closed completely, leaving only that moonlight glow behind.
₊˚✧𑁍.ೃ࿔*:・
The nightmares came as they always did. In flashes of images that she desperately wanted to forget and in bursts of pain that reminded her she had screamed in the water after being thrown in, and there had been no one to hear her as liquid filled her lungs, cutting off her air supply and choking, burning. Too much. It felt like everything was on fire and she was being torched from the inside out.
And she never wanted to feel that ever again.
It also led to her only lightly napping for a couple hours, which did her no good at all, but she was in no position to complain either. Everything had happened so quickly, even if she was sleeping well, it would still take awhile to recover.
At least she tried.
Ariadne had managed to wash up in the bathroom, which actually went better than she thought, and was already dressed, though she didn’t eat. Her appetite could still use some work. None of it was appealing and made her want to vomit, in truth, so that was for another day.
The shadow hadn’t come back yet and it was approaching mid-morning. Did that mean she was expected to go alone? She’d never been there before and sure, the kitchen was easy enough to find, but what if this was harder?
And that means what? That you’re going to quit? You’ve dealt with worse and you can make it to the library on your own, Ariadne stands with a huff and strides over to the door, opening it and walking out to the left instead of the right. See, I can do it myself.
She keeps going with purpose in each step and passes by the doors that housed more bedrooms until she reaches the end of the hall. It curves to the left and she decides to follow it, figuring this was the best option right now.
I wonder if Nesta has at least been reading. I know she’s worried about Elain, but she needs to worry about herself too, Ariadne glances over her shoulder as if she would find the steely-eyed gaze of her sister and is relieved when she doesn’t. Maybe you could bring her some after you’re done.
It would give her a chance to feel some sort of connection back to their old life and what she loved to do.
They all needed that.
Ariadne’s fingers twitch and she takes a breath as she looks up to see a set of double doors, made of some sort of mahogany - she guessed - with iron handles. Hilarious, she rolls her eyes and pulls it open to see inside. Ah-ha! I’m good at this.
She’d found the library.
It smelled like ink and paper with a hint of lemons. And it was cozy too, with overstuffed armchairs and a loveseat arranged around the fireplace, decorative pillows, tables with potted lilies and vines, stacks of notes, plush rugs, and rows and rows of shelves filled with books.
You gotta be kidding me, Ariadne walks over to one of the shelves and runs her fingers over the spines. There has to be hundreds in here. This is insane, she bites her bottom lip. Where do I even start?
She squints at the titles and selects a few that she thought might be useful, along with one or two that just seemed like they would be fun to read. It couldn’t hurt to see what type of fiction was over here in Prythian.
After gathering them all in her arms, Ariadne makes her way over to one of the armchairs and sets the stack of books on the small table beside it. She moves to grab for plain paper and something to write with when a bound leather notebook and a cream colored quill with an inkpot appears right before her eyes.
Just like the orange juice, she sits down and pulls her legs up underneath herself. Amazing, really. I didn’t even have to ask you to do that, the first book she grabs is one about magic and powers of the Fae in Prythian; if any of them would have information about Daemati, this would - probably - be the one.
Ariadne flips it open and runs her finger along the page, finding herself wondering how old it was, how far the history went back. It was truly something to think about.
The seven Courts of Prythian each have a type of magic that is specific to that area and the High Lords are the most powerful, some of them even having additional abilities.
Winter Court Fae have ice manipulation, which also extends to frost and snow.
Autumn Court Fae have fire, able to create and wield flames.
Summer Court Fae control water, forming it into any shape, any size, and will it where they wish.
Spring Court Fae are connected to the earth and air, finding their power in nature and blending into their surroundings.
Dawn Court Fae brings the art of healing, producing some of the greatest Healers in Prythian, talented enough to mend any injury.
Day Court Fae have light and are able to break through darkness, showing the truth. High Lord Helion is known as the Spell-Cleaver.
Night Court Fae controls darkness, bending it to their will and stealing sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell.
Ariadne tilts her head and quickly grabs the notebook and quill, settling the inkpot on the arm of the chair and beginning to jot down notes. She wanted to know everything that she could; Feyre came back with multiple powers after being resurrected and who was to say the same hadn’t happened to her?
She deserved to know that about herself if that were the case.
To control the mind is deadly. If a Fae holds this power and wields it against another, death is certain to follow.
That didn’t seem like something she would be able to do, so maybe it was just the mind reading then? Or rather, Daemati? What was the difference?
Ariadne underlines a few times and turns through the pages in search of the word ‘Daemati’, knowing that there had to be something. Rare or not.
They are called Daemati. This is an exceedingly rare gift that the Mother only hands out to those She chooses. A Fae who has this ability can read, influence, and shatter one’s mind.
Many, especially those in positions of power, learn to train against a Daemati. The methods differ for each Fae and each Court.
So it did mean she would be able to do that. Supposedly. But how? Ariadne wasn’t a violent person and to crush someone’s mind and kill them? There was no way she could ever be capable of something like that.
Not in a million years.
All she wanted was to be able to talk with another person - even if it wasn’t the usual way, who cares? - and then it wouldn’t just be her anymore, which was huge. It was something she had wanted for a long time and she would be a fool not to at least venture into the mind reading portion of it.
And letting in another person like she had managed with the shadow last night.
Ariadne wanted to figure out how, but it seemed that whoever had written this one decided not to give out too much information on the subject. I could ask Rhysand? He’s one, isn’t he? But I have no idea how to ask him and even if I did… I don’t really want to, she frowns.
It can’t be too hard. If a Daemati controls the mind, then I’d need something to protect myself, wouldn’t I? That’s what that wall could’ve been. Think about it, she taps her finger on the page. You had to create an opening for the shadow to get in and be able talk to you, then when it left, you had to close it back.
Her finger moves faster and she sits up a little straighter, writing down a few more notes. That keeps people out, but also lets people in, she dips the end of the quill into the ink. And from what the shadow said, it could see I had nightmares and said it was chaotic, so maybe I have to organize everything and keep certain things locked away. Like in a safe.
The movement of the quill across the paper quickened, putting all Ariadne’s thoughts in black and white, her mind racing with how much she was discovering and absorbing already.
That’ll be hard, considering I’ve never had to worry about anyone being in my head before. Not impossible though, which is good. Where should I start? Raising and lowering the wall? That would be the obvious choice, she places the cap on the inkpot and sets it back on the table, not wanting it to spill. Okay, her eyes fall to a close. Imagine a doorway forming in the light, a big enough space for a person. Just like last time.
She takes a steadying breath with her hands clasped together in her lap, beginning to focus on an entryway and feeling her body shake with the effort; her nails dig into soft flesh and she withholds a wince, knowing that her concentration couldn’t be broken, not when the wall was coming apart little by little.
Come on, come on, Ariadne’s brow furrows and she bites down on the inside of her lip, her breathing slightly quicker and more labored than usual. Almost there. A little more and you got it.
With a final push, the opening appears in the same spot it had before and she very nearly cheers aloud, but quickly decides against it and instead, she gives herself a small pat on the back. Well done, Ari! Again.
₊˚✧𑁍.ೃ࿔*:・
She wasn’t sure how long she spent in the library, a few hours at least, or how long she had been practicing opening and closing the door in her mind, but she was sure that she needed a break. It seemed she had gone too far and exhausted herself even more so than she already was.
Probably not the best idea.
And she realized how deep she had gone with the way her once artfully messy bun was now falling to the nape of her neck, strands of rich brown and caramel frazzled in complete disarray; what a sight she must be.
Ariadne sighs and closes all the books she had read through, stacking them on the table along with the notebook and standing up to stretch herself out. A couple of her joints pop and she makes a face. What time is it? It has to be past lunch, she wiggles her toes against the carpet, thinking for a moment.
You should probably try and eat something. When was the last time you even ate? Do you remember? She couldn’t. It must’ve been when she was still human, which definitely wasn’t a good thing.
With a final sigh, Ariadne leaves the library and makes her way back in the direction that she came, knowing that she would be able to find the kitchen again fairly easily. She didn’t really want any food, but it had been awhile and she had to have something eventually, if she didn’t want to waste away to nothing, that is.
She enters the kitchen and finds it empty, as usual, her hands splaying out across the countertop as she mulls over what she might be able to keep down.
Soup, maybe? I won’t have to chew and it sounds less intimidating than anything else, a small hum, followed by honey eyes lifting to gaze at the ceiling. Would you mind getting me some? Tomato, please. Nice and hot.
There’s a shift in the air and in a matter of seconds, a steaming bowl appears in front of her, along with a spoon and a porcelain cup filled with tea; Ariadne offers the smallest hint of a smile. Thank you.
She grabs one of the stools and pulls it over before perching herself on top of it, feet dangling a few feet off the floor as she leans over to take the first spoonful into her mouth. It was smooth and creamy, igniting her tastebuds with the flavor of tomato, basil, and a subtle heat - pepper flake? - that elicited a small groan from her throat.
It was one of the best things she had ever had and she wanted to scold herself for not eating sooner. Better late than never, I suppose. Right?
Ariadne continues to eat, taking a small break in-between bites to add milk and sugar to her tea; she stirs it slowly and taps the spoon lightly on the rim before taking a sip. Her eyelids flutter. Gods, that’s good, she licks her lips and goes back to the soup. I should check on Nesta and Elain after this, shouldn’t I? But what would I be able to do? I still don’t know how to talk to them yet. Maybe waiting would be the smarter decision. I’m sure the last thing Nesta wants to do is read or write anything down.
The youngest Archeron was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t notice the little shadow that had flitted towards her until she felt a cool sensation around her ankle. She looks down and her eyes brighten, immediately working to open the doorway in the shimmering wall of her mind.
It happens fairly quickly, much easier than it had when she first started, and she feels the presence of it enter.
There you are! I thought you said ‘we’ were going to the library.
The shadow wraps tighter around Ariadne’s ankle, its voice still that same breathy whisper. You managed just fine without me. It’s time you realize and accept that you are capable of more than you think.
She resists the urge to roll her eyes. How did it know her so well already? It was a bit unsettling, but not entirely unwelcome. Then why are you here now? If I can manage so well without you, as you say.
We were worried.
We?
Yes, Ariadne. We.
There was a part of her that wanted to ask more questions, but she also felt that if she were supposed to know, she would’ve been told. She had never been one to pry, always fearing that she would be overstepping somehow.
And even though the shadow wasn’t a real person talking to her, it was all she had right now and she wasn’t about to make it go away by not shutting up when she needed to.
Which is why she chooses to change the subject instead.
I know how to make the entry in the wall and how to close it. I practiced for a few hours. Not perfected, but that should mean I’ll be able to talk to someone else now, yeah? Ariadne feels goosebumps rise on her skin when it moves from her ankle to her calf, then disappearing entirely. Hey! Where did you g-!
The shadow reappears on her shoulder, the end of it looping through her hair and she felt a small vibration in the back of her mind; was it… purring?
No. Surely not. That was ridiculous.
Very good. I am proud of you. And yes, you should try it.
A warmth blossoms in Ariadne’s chest, spreading through her veins and giving her a sense of something akin to happiness. No one had ever been proud of her before. There was never a reason to be and now that there was, she found she liked the feeling.
What else had she missed out on?
Thank you! That’s sweet of you to say and it means a lot actually, her head turns, hand lifting to brush her fingers over the silken shadow. I’m nervous though, she swallows. I don’t know if how I talk in my head is okay for a normal conversation. What if…
She falls silent. What if she sounded… wrong?
What if how she ‘talked’ was silly and amateur? What if she didn’t make sense and confused them? Ariadne thought she sounded alright, but then again, no one could read minds as humans and tell her otherwise; she could come off utterly ridiculous for all she knew.
Do not think that way about yourself, the shadow’s whisper had changed, now holding a slight edge to its words and she couldn’t help but wonder why. You have a brilliant mind and what you are lacking does not take away from that in any way.
Ariadne blinks, caught off guard and momentarily rendered speechless. It was strange; it almost seemed… upset with her, which didn’t make sense. Why would it be when it barely knew her? Either she was predictable or more had been seen last night than what was admitted.
I just don’t want to be… foolish, her tone had lowered, now a whisper of her own, though it was meek and not at all like how she normally was. I’ve only ever talked to myself and how would I know what I’m going to sound like to another person?
No way to know unless you try.

.................................................................
"Feeling alright?" Cregan's voice broke the silence.
She was in her own little world like she often was. She was an odd one, often staring at dark corners or even occasionally conversing with nothing. It was like a trance, one she couldn't snap out of alone.
"Love?" He tried again, dragging a hand up her spine and rubbing at the back of her head.
She snapped out of it in a small fright.
"There you are," he smiled. His fingers massaged lightly. "Off in your dream world, hm?" At her hum of agreement, he got comfortable next to her on the cold floor. "Are you feeling alright?" He repeated. "Are they being kind?"
'They' were the spirits she often spoke to in these dark corners. Cregan had a small doubt the first time she spoke about it, worrying for her mind. But after she had told him something they had told her that she shouldn't have known, he realized just how much she could see.
And occasionally, the spirits were unkind. They didn't have the ability to do anything, rather, hurt her mentally.
So, asking if they were being kind was a fair question.
"Hm, I think so," she answered.
"You think so?" He could listen to her talk forever.
"I think so."
"Tell me more. Please. Tell me about any of it. I want to hear you."
She looked back to the shadows, almost getting lost in a trance. "He wants me to go with him."
"Hm?" He tried to ignore the way panic moved up his spine. "Go where? Who does?"
"He does," she said, gesturing to the corner. "He wants me to go."
"Love, where?" He said, sitting forward with more concern. "They've never asked you to go anywhere before." He peered over to the dark area as if expecting to see something himself. He never does in these situations.
"He doesn't like when you stare."
A breath left Cregan's lips, a physical show of his walls wearing down. This had to be the most frightened he'd been for these situations.
Often times, there were easy ways to ease her mind. Like a few nights ago-
"Cregan," she softly whispered, pushing on his shoulder to wake him. "Cregan."
He woke with a start, jumping slightly at her nervous breath. "What is it?"
"Tell her to go away."
He was used to odd things like that. He wrapped an arm around her, pulling her into his chest and lifting his head, vaguely yelling at something to 'fuck off.'
She slept peacefully after that.
"He doesn't like when I stare?" He drew out each word, wanting to catch her meaning.
"He doesn't like you."
Fuck, he breathed. "Who is it?"
"He looks like you. He said his name is… Bennard."
"My love," he redirects sternly. "Listen to me carefully." He takes her hands in his, speaking when her eyes finally find his. "You must stop talking to him. I want you to ignore him."
"But he looks so much like you-"
"-I know," he cooed, "I know. It's natural for him to look alike. He is my uncle. But Bennard is dangerous."
"The uncle who usurped you?"
"Exactly."
She was entirely correct in her description of Bennard. His father, Rickon, had always commented how alike the two looked. They were northerners through and through.
"He's so angry-"
"-Naturally, love. He tried to take the North from me and I had him imprisoned." He waited a moment before coming up with an idea. "Let us retire, hm? You must be exhausted."
"The sun is still out."
"Not for much longer. C'mere."
The two left his solar, not before Cregan could look back one more time with the most defying glare he could muster. As if his uncle would be able to see the absolute hatred in his eyes for daring to speak to his wife. "You'll forget about him in the morning, my sweet wife. I'm sure of that."
…
But the morning was not so quick to come.
Cregan grumbled, slightly woken from sleep as he blindly reached out to pull his wife closer.
But the bed was empty.
There was still warmth to the furs and linens she'd just been on. She hadn't been gone long.
He sat up with a slightly concerned groan, brushing away his hair and rubbing out the sleep from his eyes.
She was nowhere to be found.
So he stood, throwing on an acceptable tunic to be out in the halls of Winterfell. And when he found the nearest guard, he inquired about her.
"She was seen leaving the castle last I saw, my Lord."
Oh fuck. Cregan's worst nightmares were coming to fruition. "In a trance?" He didn't want to ask but he knew he had to.
The guard nodded.
That means she wasn't properly dressed for the cold weather that laid outside the doors. He'd last seen her in her favorite shift he'd pulled from the bureau.
That was nothing near warm enough for her out there. The sun still had an hour or two until it would rise. He needed to hurry.
He stomped back into his chambers, moving as fast as he could to dress. Boots half laced. Cloak more on one shoulder than the other. Hair askew. He didn't care. He circled back around to grab her cloak.
He barely got his gloves from a servant before he'd ran out to the stables.
…
He rode throughout the Godswood, his head on a swivel as he yelled out for her.
He luckily had a bit of a trail of her bare feet in the snow. It was his last resort to getting her back.
She only ever snapped from her trances when someone else brought her back. It made him all the more determined.
After a while, he realized where she was being led.
The pond.
…
"Y/N!" He screamed as he dismounted his horse.
She was entirely entranced, standing on the edge of the frozen pond.
He approached carefully, like trying to near a frightened animal. He took slow, slow, steps, the snow crunching under his boots.
Her feet were completely bare, the skin red. No doubt she has hypothermia. "Love," he breathed, stepping a bit closer. There was only a few feet between them now. Surely, he could grab her if he was quick enough.
But she took a step out onto the lake.
"No, no, no," he cursed, stepping to the last bit of dirt he could before reaching the lake. He stretched out, trying to grab her arm before she got too far, but he was inches off. He took the smallest step onto the ice, which made cracking sounds under his boot. The ice was rather thin at the edge. He looked out to the center, seeing that it was far from being frozen over.
She was sure to fall through at any minute.
"Wait," he tried again. "Love, wait." It hurt him physically to watch her inch closer to her death.
He had only a few choices. Risk both their lives by rushing onto the lake and grabbing her. Or wait for her to die on her own.
And he wouldn't let that happen.
Especially when she began to journey further.
He'd had enough, stepping out onto the ice. The sound of cracking ice hardly deterred him from getting a few steps out.
But the ice caved through. His leg fell in, the ice cold water seeping through his pant leg. He caught himself from fully falling in, sitting in concern that more ice was sure to break after it.
When he decided to try again, he got up onto his knees and slowly stood. The ice cracked again, traveling down the pond towards her. Under her feet.
The slight shift in weight snapped her out of her trance. Like waking from a nightmare, she looked around. Her legs shook with realization. She took a step back to turn around but her legs gave out. She fell onto her knees and the cold began to make her numb. "Cregan?" She cried.
He held out a hand to attempt to reassure her. Though, it needed just as much reassurance himself. "Stay there. Just stay for a moment." His eyes were glued to the winding split in the ice that could continue at any moment. "I need to think."
"I didn't mean to," she began to sob, her body shivering. "I didn't… he told me to. I thought…"
"Calm yourself. Don't go into hysterics," he firmly commanded. His head tilted as he tried to ignore the stinging of the soaked fabric against his leg. "My uncle?"
She sniffed. "I thought it was you. You look so alike."
If Bennard Stark was still alive, Cregan would skin him. "I understand." He groaned. "Here's what I want you to do. You're going to stand. And you're going to walk to me."
"No-"
"-You're going to walk to me," he said even firmer. "Can you do that?"
She choked through another sob and nodded. Everything was numb and standing would be difficult. But she was determined to get to Cregan. She managed to stand on shaky legs, though stepping would be another problem. Her head perked up to the center of the pond like her name had been called.
"No," he broke though. "Ignore it. Only listen to me."
She was already on the edge of being whisked away again, her voice getting dreamy, "But he said-"
"-I don't care what he said."
It was a tone Cregan so rarely used that when in play, it caught the attention of everyone around him.
Which snapped her back to. "Sorry," she slurred.
He shook his head, holding a shaky hand out. "Just come here. I need to get you warm."
She managed a few steps, shaky as hell, but she'd done it. The cracking sound under her kept the panic in Cregan but the slow closure of the space between them began to soothe it.
"Almost," he smiled forcibly to keep her calm. "Almost there. Good."
But one step caused a shift in the frozen lake.
Cregan panicked, determined to get her to him before they were bound to plunge into the icy water. He stepped forward with a clunky boot, which finally broke it though.
She fell in.
He was frozen for a moment, utterly lost as he watched the ripples in the water fade.
She was gone.
Oh fuck. She was gone.
He dropped down by the place she fell. His arm reached in blindly, trying desperately to grab her. Any part. To feel her beneath his palm. "What have I done?" He whispered to himself. "What h- What have I done?"
Preparing to fully go in himself, his hand finally grasped her. He pulled immediately.
She came to the surface, her body in completely shock.
He pulled her out, holding her to his chest desperately and pushing away from the broken ice with his feet until he deemed it safe enough.
He held her in his lap, panting hot breaths against her neck in relief that he'd found her. The water began to slowly seep through his own clothing but he didn't care. He was desperate to warm her, even if that meant sacrificing some of his own warmth.
Her lips were an odd shade of grey, her skin faded from its usual lively tones. It sickened him.
He rocked her slightly, muttering under his breath small praises that she was still with him. That she was still breathing.
…
"I thank you for your work," Cregan smiled at the septon.
He hated The Seven. Didn't believe a word of the teachings. The Old Gods were the only gods as far as he knew.
But maybe their priests had an ability that he didn't. Like cleansing castles. They surely seemed to think so.
He wouldn't truly know until his wife woke.
But the septon had promised to expel all demons, ghosts, and anything alike from the grounds of Winterfell.
Who was he to deny an offer like that?
Anything to get his uncle as far away as possible.
"Of course," the septon nodded. "It's an honor to be trusted by a Stark. The Seven smile on you."
They fucking better, he thought. "How kind."
"Even now, Cregan Stark, they've chosen to bless you."
He was getting pretty done with other worldly things for a while. "That's nice. Someone, please walk him to his room."
"I mean it," he continued, even as a servant politely steered him away to the guest quarters. "All seven regard you highly."
He walked away, physically shaking his head to push the nonsense from his mind. That septon was so adamant about it. It planted a seed of doubt in the northerners mind. Bless him? What does that m-
"Milord. Lady Stark is awake."
Cregan's jaw went a little slack. Blessed, indeed. "T-Thank you. I'll go there now."
…
"Feel alright?" He asked even now, days later. It felt like a mantra at this point.
"I told you, 'm fine," she sighed, curled up in the furs with a bowl of soup in her lap.
"I know you have. Can't help but worry. You can't blame me, can you, pretty girl? Hm?" His hand smoothed over the curls in her hair from the pillow. He could stare at her all day like this. Comfortable, clean, content, alive.
"He just looked so much like you," she remarked, still not over the scare from days before. "Like you, but older."
His hand moved down to cup her cheek, rubbing the skin affectionately. "I'd rather you wait for me to age then try to join that one so soon."
It was his soft attempt at lightening the tension. And it worked.
Her lips quirked up. "Maybe."
"Maybe? What if I said I kicked him out? Banished him forever?"
She was growing more amused now. "I'd say you're a liar."
He leaned in, laying the softest of kisses to her lips. "Then I tell such truthful lies, my love. For I've banished all that ails you. Perhaps I'll banish the snow next."
She never did see Bennard Stark again in Winterfell. Or anything else for the matter. The dark shadows were just that. Dark shadows. Nothing more.
And if she willed it, Cregan would scare the darkness off next.

Distance makes the Heart grow Fonder ᡣ𐭩ྀིྀི
ᡣ𐭩ྀིྀི Chapter 6 of my Sweet As Sugar Series (baker!reader x lt ghost
ᡣ𐭩ྀིྀི Summary: Simon leaves in deployment, though just before he goes, your father unintentionally sets a fire alight in Simon’s chest, one he’s never felt in years. It brings him to a realisation he didnt think was possible.
Prev Next
————————
It’s surprising; in Soap’s entire career, he never thought he’d see the day that Ghost actually looked reluctant to come back to work. Usually he was the one to complain about everything he missed, especially in the mess hall when they grabbed their meals together. Though today Ghost’s eyes were particularly downturned, and he hadn't interrupted Soap once to tell him to do less speaking and more eating. “Ye not gonna tell me to shut up today?” He tilts his head towards the masked man before promptly shoving a bland potato in his mouth, chewing it without a care in the world.
“This tea is horrible; that's why.” He grunts, placing the cup down onto the table with so much force the liquid almost splashes out of the cup altogether. “Thought ya didn't care about the taste?” Soap raises a brow, even more confused. When had his Lt thought twice about how good his tea tasted? Sure, he’d been bragging about the cafe in town for a while now, but he didn't think anything would sway Riley this much. He’s only seen the man this annoyed that time he was given rice instead of pitta when they grabbed their post-deployment kebab.
“My standards have been raised.” Ghost scoffs a little, watching as Soap gulps down a large swig of his strong coffee as always—licking his lips from the three sugars he had just stirred in. “Are you going to finally tell me who that lass was now? Gaz is dying to know too.” He rests his elbows on the table, grinning cheekily at the man opposite, who only shoos him back and narrows his eyes in a faux glare. “You told Gaz?”
“Wait till Capt’ comes back–”
Ghost wasn't sure how to feel about his team’s sudden interest in his private life, but he supposed it seemed natural given that he wasn't one for making friends, let alone getting close to the baker girl in the town they frequented off deployments. “She works at the bakery, that’s all. I helped her with some heavy things.” He chooses to omit the part where he had willingly joined you on a mini road trip and spent time with you at the winter market. Soap will definitely never know about the incident at your apartment either.
”Wait, she’s the one who makes those pastries your unit had? We ‘ave to pay her a visit too. I mean, my mouth watered when i smelt ‘em.” He laughs, remembering the time he had begged Ghost to let him try just a tad of the cookie you had graciously provided him once. He’d take the death glare, especially since after he ate half, he had easily decided it was the best one he’d ever tasted. Besides, he wanted to see what had caught Ghost’s eye to the point he spent more time off base than on. Unfortunately, the masked man had caught onto it quickly, standing with the tray in his hands. “Yeah, you go spillin’ crumbs on yourself in the middle of the briefing we have in ten.” He rolls his eyes, already expecting the alarm in Soap’s eyes as he quickly stands and throws his tray away too—he always had a tendency to rely on Ghost as a personal reminders app.
————
The meeting seemed to last forever, and he had to adjust himself to stand straight every so often just so his mind wouldn’t wander off with the memories of only last week. Though, he couldn’t keep them away for much longer since as soon as he was on the treadmill, everything in his mind was let free. The thing was, even though he hadn't said it directly, Johnny was right—you had caught his eye in a way that he couldn't even figure out himself. From the day he saw you in that shop, dancing along to a song that you embarrassedly shut off as soon as he entered, to the pretty smile you flash every time he enters the shop. In fact, your demeanour seems to light up without you even realising; it’s adorable, really. He notices the pep in your step, the slightly higher pitch in your voice, and even the way you greet the customers with happiness just ‘cause you’re eager to draw your doodle on the side of his coffee cup again. Maybe if he had a little more experience in all of this, he would’ve teased you about it all, or he would even go as far as to admit that you’ve made his heart thump more than any life-threatening situation will. Though, if he told you that then you might just force him to a doctor out of sheer worry.
What if you don’t even see it the same way? What if you’re just being friendly and he’s acting like a creep, reading into all of your actions? He ramps up the speed on the treadmill a little more, his thighs starting to burn the more forceful his strides grow. It’s empty in this room, no sound around save for the heavy thump of his boots bouncing off the walls. He’s heard female soldiers complain before; they huff about how the younger soldiers ogle, and the older lieutenants shamelessly give their remarks. What if he ruins everything and makes you uncomfortable? He’s not even sure he can handle a relationship; he always thought he could never commit to it, nor did he think he could put the constant energy and thoughts into caring so much for somebody. But with you, it just comes so naturally; he barely has to think twice when he converses with you, even less when you chatter to him about something that happened the other day. Relationships always seemed like obligations to him, even if the girl was nice or sweet; something always sucked the life out of him dry until he broke up with them just for their own sake. He didn't want the same to happen to you; no he wouldn't dare hurt you in such a cruel way.
Then what, should he just pull away from you altogether?
That thought alone stills him, the idea of never seeing you again making his body still like a bucket of cold ice dumped over his head. His feet falter as his heart stammers, and his hands can only graze the handles before his knees hit the floor with a painful slam—sliding off the treadmill altogether in a heap of limbs. He looks down in shock, more so down at himself as he sits on the floor in front of the treadmill he had accidentally pushed to the maximum speed. Damnit; he really has fallen for you.
————————-
The little bell rings as he pushes the glass door open; it’s the day before he leaves for deployment, and he was hoping he’d see your grin one last time before he goes. To his dismay, you’re not on shift today, likely doing a grocery run or something similar. Today, your parents are handling the shop, and although you informally introduced him once, he’s almost sure that they don't approve of him. It’s not like they’ve made it obvious; it just seems inevitable due to his chosen attire and his line of work. Naturally, he hadn't expected your father to smile at him widely and know his order before he could say it.
“Flat white or black today? No tea today, unfortunately.”
Simon can only blink in surprise, clearing his throat in hopes he doesn’t sound too hoarse. “Flat white. I’ve got deployment tomorrow, so I'll have to indulge now rather than later.” He doesn't usually add on detail, but he feels like he’s obliged to, just for the sake of seeming a little better towards your parents. Thankfully, there’s not a hint of the disdain he expected on your father’s face; he only laughs, ringing in the order whilst he turns to make the drink for him. “I’d hardly call a flat white an ‘indulgent’, kid.”
Simon barely gets the chance to acknowledge the fact someone just called him ‘kid’ before he’s talking again, and he feels himself stand a little straighter to make sure he doesn't look like some sleazy boy.
“She’s gonna be upset, y’know? Maybe you’ll be better off paying a stunt double to take your place instead of saying you’re on deployment.” The man chuckles again, his face lighting up the same way you do, and you’ve clearly learnt his technique of pouring the steamed milk too.
“I’m sure she’ll forget by the second day; the other customers will have to suffice with all her stories.” Simon brushes off your potential reaction, almost positive that you wouldn't even lose sleep on the matter. Besides, you’re plenty more friendly than he’ll ever be; he’s sure you’ll make quick friends with the other regulars.
“Forget? I won't hear the end of it until you return. I don't know what you did to that girl, but she’s been as bright as the sun since you showed up.” The older man pressed the lid onto the cup, turning around to hand it to Simon. “We’re grateful, y’know? She had a tough time when we first opened; it didn't help that we couldn't afford her further education.”
“I.. didn't know that.” He can't say much else, the words spilling out and surprise evident in his tone.
“We travelled a bit before buying this bakery, so she’s never had many constant friends; it was out of our control.” The man packs up a small bag, placing it on the counter for Ghost to take as well before giving him a grateful smile. “She’d have come around eventually, but the point is, she’s very fond of you. Always makes sure she has your favourite biscuits restocked too.” He chuckles, and Simon stares down at the bag, the faint outline of chocolate bourbons inside. He truly was a lucky man.
———-
Ghost had a hypothesis, and that was that the simplest missions were always the longest. Well, not literally, but they felt as if they dragged on forever. He was positioned up in these mountains to scope the area prior to his team’s entry; however they wouldn't be here for another two hours anyway due to unforeseen circumstances. That meant that for the meantime, he was a sitting duck. It also gave way to the thoughts he hadn’t been able to consider ever since he first processed them, promising himself he’d debate it later after this all blew over.
The thing is, he couldn't fathom the idea of you feeling low or even having a few friends. He considers himself to be on the loner side, considering most people perceived him that way, and he didn't exactly contact anyone outside of the military save from his old boss when he worked as a butcher—he always said happy new year to him. The difference is, he kind of liked it that way, but clearly you haven't been given a choice in that matter. It fills him with an urge, one that’s a little out of place for him yet fits perfectly in his chest. He wants to make sure you’re happy, well, as far as he can do so anyway. And on the off chance you do get upset, he wants to be the one to cheer you up after.
It’s weird to him, having someone that needs him as a presence in their life, someone who’ll miss him when he’s gone. But what’s worse for him, is that he realises now that he misses you every time you’re gone. He thought he had gone crazy the first time Johnny went on deployment without him, and he had to listen to Gaz talk about the latest football game all lunch— not that Johnny usually had anything better to say either. He had only realised he missed him when Soap described the same feeling when Gaz had left for deployment. He figured it comes with working closely with others very often; after all, being forced out of a routine would never feel right. So, he was even more surprised when he had only spent a month and a bit getting to know you, but somehow every moment away just seemed duller.
That night the evac trucks take him home quietly, along with the rest of his team. They’re exhausted, Soap and Gaz more so than himself; they're practically nodding off beside him. Not that he minds being their pillow for the ride, but he does stop to wonder what it’d feel like if your head was the one on his shoulder. He’d probably wrap an arm around you—if you’d allow him, of course—and maybe just sit in silence whilst a movie plays. You’d be happy with someone around, he’d be happy to have a quiet night in, and maybe a quiet sleep again.
That’s the moment he decided what he was going to do and what he’s currently doing right now. It’s two am, and he’s just got back, barely even washed up yet. His phone is in his hands, your little profile picture grinning at him cheekily as he stares at the unsent message.
“Are you free for dinner on Wednesday? My treat, and an apology for leaving you for so long.”

Routine V
Mini Series
Wanda Maximoff x fem wife!reader
Summary: Routines can get tiring quickly, especially when you’re the only one working towards keeping them.
A/n: We meet again friends. I am very happy to be updating this fic once more. Also happy to inform that I have found a direction in which to take it!!! I hope you enjoy reading it.
Word count: 1400 approx
She was at a crossroads, there was nothing that she could do to stop you from leaving. She hadn’t stopped pacing the room since you left. That's when she saw it… Her saving grace. Maybe if she did this one thing she could at least open the door if not maybe just unlock it, something. At this point that was definitely better than nothing. Your passport and what looked like important papers were left sitting on the kitchen counter. You had left in a furious haze, something was meant to be left behind. You just didn’t think it would be your passport and work visa. That was the one thing that you thought you had in lock, the one thing that you couldn't forget… And you forgot it. Truthfully you knew that something was missing the moment that you stepped into the car with Kate, but you chalked it up to the stress that Wanda had caused.
There was a time that anything that remotely felt like a fight was a no go. You never wanted to fight with Wanda, nothing about arguing with her seemed pleasant. In the beginning it was obvious she was scared and all of it was new. You danced around obvious issues the two of you had. One issue was a rather big one being Vision. It was strange their connection. It was something you knew would have easily gone the other way had you not been in the picture. They understood each other; you felt like the odd man out in your own relationship with her. It wasn’t until you exploded one day that the issue was addressed. Thinking back Wanda should have seen this coming. It almost ended the relationship before it really even began. She was tempted to call you, she really was. But she’d just crossed a very big boundary. Instead she texted Kate.
Her text was read almost immediately the text bubble kept appearing but nothing was sent. Wanda instead sent another message. ‘I’ll meet you at the gate, lose Y/n for a minute and I’ll give you her passport.’ She only received a thumbs up and she was on her way. It was high time Wanda started taking action. She wasn’t going to fail you now.
You were lying. You had no idea where you got the confidence from but it was a complete lie. You loved her so much it hurt. She didn’t read your mind that time and it hurt that she believed you. Tears welled in your eyes, this day wasn’t supposed to go like this. You were supposed to leave peacefully, and now you had no idea what you were doing. She shook you. Wanda came into your life and turned it upside down and now she’s done it again. It was rough. Kate had been fidgety for the past twenty minutes. “Are you okay?” You managed to get the words out. She stilled wide eyed. “Uhm shouldn’t I be asking you that?” You hummed. “Probably… I’m just tired of the same thing over and over again.” You sighed. “There are so many things that I wanted to say. But she was right in front of me and the words disappeared.” Kate nodded, her eyes still fixed on the road.
“Do you think… that uhm you’ll get back together?” She asked the obvious question. It only made your shoulders deflate more. Not because she asked, “It’s not up to me.” but because of how pitiful the answer was. And it was entirely up to her. You hadn't even been able to bring yourself to draft the papers. The fear that she’d actually sign them still managed to keep you up at night. What if she did, what then? “My heart… it aches constantly. Like something was ripped from me.” Kate cleared her throat. “You’re leaving Y/n… You're going abroad for god knows how long.” You nodded. “How else can I show her what she’s doing to me? Years Kate I’ve put up with it for years.” Kate nodded. “I did not suffer in silence, I let her know at every turn how she was compromising us.” Your words were laced with anger and conviction. And so quickly the sadness gave way to raw anger.
Wanda felt she should have thought this entire situation out more. Here she was in her car on her way to the airport, filled with hundreds if not thousands of people. And the most daunting part being that you’re unaware. Her mind was already starting to hold her hostage. She made the treck mostly on autopilot. Then there was the whole getting through security, nothing her powers couldn’t handle. Only she somehow couldn’t. She had not felt this lack of control since ultron, she was tripping where she had learned repeatedly not to. It was overwhelming navigating through the masses of people trying to get to their flights, homes, families. Everyone's thoughts traversed constantly. Eventually and not without struggle she had found Kate, near a coffee shop.
“Finally! I thought you’d make this hard for me.” Kate’s words washed right through her. The only thing she could hear now was an angry ring, mocking her. She shook her head softly trying to dissipate the sound. Then she stilled, she could sense it. Her powers out of pure reflex sought you out. And another pang of sadness ran through her. She’d never been able to sense your anger. A slap in the face a testament as to how unwelcome she truly was. A tug at her arm brought her back. She was clutching your passport in her hand. The folder already in Kate’s possession. Kate sighed. “Are you okay?” She relented and finally asked the question. That seemed to snap her out of whatever trance she was in. She let go of the Passaport like it burned her. Kate noticed her distress and asked again. “My powers… are acting up, I'll be fine.” Kate nodded, not fully convinced.
Kate had decided she’d throw Wanda a life line. She did not think someone could make a change so drastically in a matter of hours. This Wanda that was standing in front of her was not the same one she witnessed yell indignantly at you. This Wanda looked defeated, vulnerable. “She’s still waiting for you…” Kate said. Taking the woman in, and for a moment she wasn’t sure Wanda had heard her. Then tears started rolling down her face. “I don’t think she is…” the words came out tersely and clipped. “She's angry, she has every right to be. That doesn’t change the fact that she’s waiting… so give her time.” Kate sighed, taking a step back. “Fight for her…” She turned on her heel and walked away. Wanda seconds later managed to do the same. Her resolve slowly cemented.
Kate made her way back just as you started looking for her. She looks slightly flushed. Two coffees in hand, a folder tucked in between her arm and torso. Your eyes widened at the sight. “I didn’t even realize I was missing that!” You exclaimed. Taking a cup out of her hand, and the folder at the same time. “Kate, you're a lifesaver.” She nodded, taking a long sip of her drink. Then silence followed, you could have sworn you felt something. It made your heart race. You remembered the familiar feeling. A slight fuzz just out of reach in your mind. You couldn’t help but look around. Could it be, or was it just her lingering in your mind. Then once again Kate brought you back into the present. “Here your boarding group is about to be called.” Kate pulled you up from your seat making toward the line now forming.
Right as your ticket was scanned. She pulled you to the side slightly. “Promise you’re coming back.” You managed a small smile. “I will, I don’t think your mother will keep me away forever.” You joked. Keeping an eye on the people boarding. Kate nodded trying to reassure herself. “You forgot your passport… she brought them here. That's why I was gone for a minute.” Your heart started racing. “I didn’t want to keep it from you.” Then before you could even respond an airline worker was ushering through into the boarding tunnel. The last thing Kate managed to say was for you to call her when you landed.
A/n: Please leave a like if you liked it!!! Late because I completely forgot to schedule. :(

the forgotten girl (15)
little bit of smut. This is the second last chapter x
I moaned as her hands slowly made their way up my thighs. Her mouth attacking my neck and collarbone, slowly making their way down to the collar of my shirt.
“Can I take this off?” She stopped, looking at me.
“Please.” It came out more as a moan than anything.
“Holy fuck. You’re so perfect.”
Her hands travelled to my barely covered boobs, squeezing them tightly and groaning. Slowly her lips returned to my body, one hand snaking around and undoing my bra, I let it fall off my arms and on the kitchen counter.
Her mouth moves towards my nipples, sucking lighting on my left one and twisting the right one between her fingers. I moan loudly when she looks up at me with hooded eyes. She was so incredibly hot and I was so incredibly went.
“Please Alexia. I need you.” It definitely sounded like a whine and it had her smiling.
“Where Chica guapa?” The smug smile almost makes me what to slap her, but unfortunately I am too horny for that.
“Here?” Her hands fiddle with the hem of my skirt, moving higher up her thumb breezes over my clit, “or here?”
“Jesus Christ”
“That’s not my name bebé. Can I take these off?” I nod my head violently, her fingers hook in the waistband of my underwear, pulling them down with easy and tucking them into her pocket.
“You’re so nice and wet for me, aren't you?" Alexia moans.
“I am now please just touch me, please" I beg. No doubt Alexia feels pride in having me beg so much.
Alexia uses her hands and spreads my lips to get a better view, biting on her lip at the sight. She slides her thumb through the wetness and i can't stop the moan i lets out.
Alexia dropped to her knees and please a soft kiss right on my clit, before licking a broad strip all the way along.
"Oh fuck yes" i moans, throwing my head back and reaching down to tangle a hand in Alexia’s hair, pulling at it. Alexia wraps her lips around my clit and sucks hard, leaving me panting and moaning loudly. Sorry to my neighbours.
Slowly, Alexia uses two fingers to tease my entrance. Circling around it, pressing the tips of her fingers slightly inside, but removing them just as quick as she continues to lick all over her pussy.
"Alexia please, stop teasing. I don’t know how much more begging I need to do" i whined, already starting to lose her mind at the sensations.
"Alright Amor" Alexia laughed, a smug smile all over her face again, slowly pushing her fingers in my dripping entrance, pushing all the way to her knuckles.
"That's it baby, opening up so perfectly for me" Alexia groans at the sight of my greedy pussy swallowing her very large fingers.
She gets up from her knees to pull me in a bruising kiss, biting my bottom lip and sliding her tongue in my mouth, before slowly moving the fingers inside of me.
I moan in Alexia’s mouth. The feelings almost becoming too much. Her lips move back to my jaw, fingers pumping in and out of me.
“You’re taking me so well baby. Your pussy feels so good.” I was close, embarrassingly close.
“Do you want to come?”
I nod my head, my fingers squeezing her bicep no doubt leaving marks.
“Words amor.”
“Please ale, I want to cum”
“Cum then amor. Show me how good you are.”
And cum I did. Alexia guided me through it, helping me come down. Slowly removing her fingers from me, washing her hands and grabbing a cloth.
“Are you okay?” She asks as she stands between my legs.
“Better than okay. I’m promise.” I cup her face and pull her in for a kiss. It’s different this time, full of love.
“Shower time.”
“Only if you join.” I drag her through the apartment and into the bathroom, undressing her and taking my skirt off.
The night continued that way, after many rounds, we fell asleep. Holding each other. This time with the promise of staying in the morning. Now more running away.

Sonic Boom! Agent Stone AU (pt.1)
(This is kind of an outline thing for the fic I plan on writing in the future btw!!)
Chapter 1 posted!
•On one random Tuesday, a coffee shop named "The Mean Bean" appeared in the middle of town, with no construction and no posters for the place, as if it fell from the sky.
•It probably did since it's sonic boom and all.
•Sonic and friends had different opinions on the place, but all of them went in anyway.
•Sonic thought he wasn't really a coffee guy but it wouldn't hurt to try something new.
•Amy admired how beautiful and modern the place looked, unlike the rest of the establishments in their formerly unnamed village.
•Tails questioned how they had managed to construct a cafe that quickly without anyone noticing.
•Knuckles wondered why this bean shop smelled like coffee.
•Sticks, however...had her theories.
•Upon laying her eyes on the establishment, she started coming up with 50 theories per second; her friends dismissed her to get the plot going.
•Sticks's suspicions didn't subside one bit once entered the shop and made eye contact with a grinning barista with the name tag "Stone"
•What really got Sticks paranoid is how nice and friendly the barista was, and how he was the only person working there.
•Stone served them and said their orders were "on the house"
•Sticks refused to order anything, claiming it was a trap and the food had microchips in it to read the villager's thoughts and know the village's most crucial secrets.
•Right in the middle of Stick's yap session, Eggman initiated a very well-timed attack.
•Cut to Shoujo vision-eyed Stone laying his eyes for the very first time on the village's one and only villain (or the only one that matters)
•He quickly snapped out of it, adjusted his clothes, and cleared his throat, then walked out of his coffee shop to greet the villain.
•He had politely asked Eggman to take the fight somewhere further away from his coffee shop and Eggman surprisingly obliged (not without blowing up in Stone's face ofc) (Stone didn't look like he minded) (He actually looked even more love-struck) (weirdo)
•The fight ended, and the gang went back to the coffee shop, where Stone inquired about the evil doctor who almost blew up his shop.
•That was Stick's last straw; she started screaming about how Stone was a government agent who would doom the entire village if they didn't stop him.
•She ran out screaming when her friends still didn't believe her.
•Girl, get better friends.
•She figured that if she was going to foil the evil government agent's plans she needed someone else helping her, another pair of eyes to look out for the village if the government agent decided that she was an obstacle in his way and kidnaps her to a work in a secret underground trees-that-are- actually-spy-cameras-factory.
•And that's when she found Shadow in a cave that he definitely doesn't live in.
•He reluctantly agreed to help her because he was also suspicious about that guy, not that he cared about the village but he didn't like being oblivious about evil happening on his turf.
•He didn't believe stick's microchipped food theory, but Stone being a government agent didn't seem too far off for him...
•They both had their separate attempts at getting answers out of Stone.
•First was Sticks, she set up a trap.
•ofc Stone fell for it because how else would the story progress.
•She interrogated him as he was upside down hanging from a tree outside her home.
•He denied all claims and feigned innocence, claiming he was just a barista that came from far far away to simply serve people happiness in the form of coffee.
•She opted for more efficient interrogation techniques, she turned around and entered her home to..grab a feather and tickle him idfk
•Once she returned outside she saw the net was burnt to crisp and the human was nowhere to be found.
•Now she's sure she's not paranoid.
•She reported her findings to Shadow.
•Now it was Shadow's turn, seeing how Stone definitely had some special equipment/weapons on him the idea of there being microchips in the food didn't seem too uncanny.
•Shadow showed up to The Mean Bean, Sticks intently staring at him from behind the glass doors (creeping everyone in the shop out)
•Shadow thought he shouldn't interrogate him as that would end up as fruitful as Stick's efforts.
•Instead he chose to just behave as a normal customer, he was the ultimate life form after all, if there was something odd about the food then he'd know (I'm pulling this shit outta my ass okay)
•Just like the badger had described him "Very sweet with an evil aura", and something about trees.
•Stone felt somewhat nervous/awkward towards the hedgehog, so far all his customers were either stupid or friendly excluding the badger that kidnapped him because she wasn't a customer at all)
•The Hedgehog chose a cat muffin, glaring at stone the entire time.
•That was the best goddamn muffin he has ever had in his life.
•He slammed the money on the counter and returned back to a very distraught badger.
•"ARE YOU OKAY?! ARE THE RADIATIONS GETTING TO YOUR BRAIN?! ARE YOU BRAINWASHED?! DO YOU REMEMBER YOUR TRAGIC BACKSTORY?! DID THE MUFFIN DO SOMETHING TO YOU?!"
"Raspberry jam..."
"huh?"

But the man doesn’t say anything, instead he merely watches you, an almost expectant look striking his features. You inhale, holding that last dying breath for a second before letting go. “Can you… Can you kiss me?”

#serene adds ✎.. HAPPY TAEHYUN DAY !! except this is not a happy fic because I seem to struggle with anything positive.. anyhow :3
“Please help me.”
Silence. Nothing but an eerie stillness of silence followed your pleading words. You want to scoff, your eyes twitching as they fight to remain closed. There was no way this was actually going to work. You had been a fool to even consider the idea, much more actually try it. But in spite of your foolishness you were also utterly desperate.
Just as you were about to give up, to slump back against the hard floor boards and accept defeat; just then, there was a shift in the air. A cold, ghost-like exhale. It hits your face hard, like that of a slap. Your brows furrow, your still shut eyes scrunching together. A shiver runs down your spine, and you do not dare move. — He had come. He’d heard your call and he’d actually answered. You could hardly believe it.
The creak of a floorboard makes your eyes jerk open, your head snapping in its direction. From the salt spread in a messy circle, to the lit candle in the center, your gaze travels along the open book, over to the far corner of your room. — There, in the shadows, submerged in darkness but still definitely there.
You swallow, the gulp echoing through the desolate air. “Please…” Your voice is hoarse, on the verge of cracking as you shift on the floor, your body twisting as you turn his way. Once again, your hands rub together as you beg him. — “Help me…”
He takes a step forward, revealing his tall frame as it emerges from the shadows. God, he was beautiful. So it was true then. All of it had been true. — His face, sickeningly pale yet so alive, ethereal almost. His eyes are dark, shimmering with something you couldn’t quite place, something out of this world. The brows on his forehead twist, if only for a moment.
Dressed in all black, a long cloak draped over his body as it sways by his feet. He looms over you, his presence demanding and stoic. You do not dare get up from your position on the floor, even as your knees burn and ache for relief. You would be sure to stay put.
It seems as though he expects you to speak, his expression unreadable as he remains quiet. With a deep inhale you gather courage. “It’s…It’s my mother, she..” Your voice trembles, on the verge of tears you shake your head, blinking the pain away. “She is very ill — I can’t… Please, I need more time with her.”
At first he doesn't say anything as he merely watches you with the same brooding expression. Your face falls, worry consuming you as you fear that he might disappear once more. He was your last chance, your last sliver of hope. — “Please, I’ll do anything!” Your hands reach for the cloak he wore, fingers curling around the fabric as you cling to him.
A low, breathy sound, almost a laughter, is pulled from his chest. You freeze when his warm hand places on the back of your head, his touch firm but not forceful. “Time”, he drawls, and he sounds as though he hadn’t spoken in years, yet you find yourself entranced by the mere word.
“Time can never be brought back. You cannot ask such a thing of the universe.”
His words make your eyes widen tenfold. What was that supposed to mean, would he not grant you your wish? Would he refuse you, would he leave again, leave you with nothing but the despair of the day to come, and the agony of those that were.
“Please! You have to help me, I already told you I’m willing to do whatever it takes!” Tears were streaming freely down your face now, ugly sobs rolling off your tongue, meddling with your speech. — He’s silent, quietly observing your weeping form from above. His hand leaves the back of your head, the almost soothing touch gone with it.
He hums, a low and still sound. “You cannot harvest time for yourself. But you can give.”
His words make your eyes light up, and you crane your neck in order to peer toward him. “Yes! Please yes, I’ll do it.” You were beyond hesitation now, far too desperate to even think about the consequences of your own actions. To give, that’s what you wanted. You wanted to give your mother time, time to spend with you, to do what she loved. That was what’s important, right?
The man nods, and you find yourself immediately missing the warmth he provided when he takes a step back. “Very well. You shall have time.” As the words leave his lips an icy feeling shot through your chest, it makes you fall forward, barely catching yourself on two hands as you pant.
It did not hurt, but it was cold, so very cold.
And just like that, he was gone again, leaving you alone in your dark house, with nothing but a ring of salt, a candle and a book to show.
But after that things changed. Your mother, once bedridden and ill, was now up and about. It was a miracle, that’s what everyone had said. The way she tended to her garden, made home cooked meals and even picked up crocheting again. — But most importantly, she smiled more. There was a different light to her face, a different joy to her laugh and a whole other woman within her body.
Doctors said she wouldn’t make it another three months. But those months turned into a year, and then another one, and another one. Five years pass within the blink of an eye. Just as quickly as they had begun they had ended again. You would like to think that those were the best years of your life, you had everything you could have ever wished for right by your side.
So why was it that you felt so cold? No matter how many hot showers you took, how many hours you spent under the sun or how long you wrapped yourself in your mother’s warm embrace you couldn’t seem to shake the icy feeling looming over you. — It has been that way since… You shudder at the thought of him, of his sickeningly beautiful face. You try to ignore it, you try to shake the uncanny feeling that something is wrong, very wrong.
The dread that fills you, the sense of impending doom. Everyday you worry for your mother’s health, for her life, in spite of the way she radiated. You feared that it would all one day diminish into nothing. That just as quickly as it had come, it would be gone again. And as your worries grew larger, the cold seemed to strike harsher.
Ice had frozen your chest by this point. It made no room for love in your now lonesome heart. You could not enjoy your time with your mother, for you feared that your own was running out.
It was then, on the day that would mark the sixth year, that he returned. And just like he had back then, did he emerge from the shadows.
The night was warm, but you could not feel it, for you had not felt warmth in a very long time. With trembling hands you tug at the blanket, wrapping yourself up in it as you try to create some sense of comfort. You would delude yourself into thinking that everything was fine, you would try to ignore the pestering cold. But it never seemed to quite work.
And there it is, that subtle creak of a floorboard, ripping through the still air. You don’t have to sit up, nor do you have to turn your head to know who has come. His presence is just as demanding as it had been all those years ago. Back then, when you hadn’t understood the full extent of his words, their true meaning.
“You cannot harvest time for yourself. But you can give.”
And you had. You had given your mother time, you had shared whatever you had left for yourself, in turn trading places with her. Realization struck as his beautiful face came into view once more. He had not changed, for he was timeless, he seemed to be the only thing unreachable by the ever ticking clock that decides your fate.
He takes a step forward, then another one and another one. Soon he stops by the edge of your bed, dark eyes peering down at your shivering form. — You swallow, “I don’t want to die.” It was the truth, you did not fear death, but you did fear the end of your existence. Your throat feels thick, tears building in your eyes as you shake your head. Perhaps you thought that begging him once more would prove successful.
But he only hums, a soft almost melancholy sound. It makes your chest churn, the ice around you feels heavy. You could not die, not right now and not like this. How would your mother suffice without you by her side? She would be heartbroken. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go. It wasn’t right…
“Please I can’t-” He interrupts you by raising a pale hand, and you immediately fall silent. His face, once unreadable and stoic, now looks solemn. His gaze roams your trembling figure, the tips of his fingers brushing along your cold arm.
“Can’t you see?” He says, his hand traveling to your chest, his palm flat against your heart. “You are already dead.”
The words hit you like that of a wave crashing against shore. Dead? No. You weren’t dead, you were… You were…
Your eyes drop to your hands, grey and lifeless as they clutch the blanket tightly. The biting cold made the tips of your fingers an almost pale blue hue. Suddenly it all made sense. Your vision blurs as you bring your hands to your face, studying them closer. The cold, it wouldn’t leave because it was all there was. Your lifeless self, a shell of who you were, walking amongst the living, an imposter.
Your heart was not frozen, it was unbeating. Dead. You were dead. You had been since that night, all those years ago. With a shaky exhale you glance up to meet his dark unyielding gaze. It was impossible to read his expression. — “Why?” You croak, the question barely making it past your choked up throat. “Why now?”
Why had he waited, why had he let you roam this earth for so long. — The man doesn’t answer, instead he extends his hand for you to take. You regard his pale and long fingers, waiting for you to lace yours within his. It was an invitation, one that would carry you to a world outside this one. You wouldn’t even get to say goodbye.
“I can’t…” The whisper slips past your lips without second thought, the realization weighing heavy on your shoulders. You shake your head, the first droplet of tears rolling down your cold cheek.
His eyes narrow, brows pulling together on his perfect face. “Your time is up.” It’s all he says, his voice suddenly sounding monotone yet commanding. You continue to shake your head, scooting away from him as your back hits the headboard, the blanket sliding off your body. “No.”
“Y-You tricked…” You hiccup, feeling the sudden onslaught of tears throughout your entire body. “You never told me I would… That I…” — The man doesn’t say anything, his hand has dropped back to rest by his side, and for a moment you think he might turn back around to leave. But he doesn’t.
“You willingly gave her your time.” He states as a matter-of-factly, his features remaining stoic as he regards your sobbing frame. You knew that he was right, that you had willingly brought this fate upon yourself, as naive and unknowing as you may have been. This was all your doing. And though you had gotten another couple of years with your mother, you could not bear the thought of parting from her again.
The cold was worse now, worse than it had ever been before. It consumed you wholeheartedly. Even if he was to let you continue on like this, what life would you get? You were dead already. There was nothing left for you. Nothing but the inevitable grief you were to bring forth on your mother.
With trembling hands you wipe your tear stained face. Your breath is jagged, like a broken record, playing the same part on repeat over and over. Through bleary eyes, you manage to find him in the darkness. The pale moonlight casts his face in an eerie glow, one that made him appear ethereal. It was then and there you realized that your time was indeed running out. This would be your last conscious moment.
“Please..” Your voice is low, nothing but a mere whisper. Yet it garners his attention as his dark eyes flicker over to yours. “Can you grant me one more wish?” You don’t expect him to oblige, you don’t expect anything at all, in fact you would have been content with even a small twitch of his brow. But the man doesn’t say anything, instead he merely watches you, an almost expectant look striking his features.
You inhale, holding that last dying breath for a second before letting go. “Can you… Can you kiss me?” Your words hang in the still air, flashing before your eyes in menacing quality. You had not thought the request through, not once. All you knew was that you wanted to feel something, anything, one last time.
His expression remains unmoving, he looked almost statue-like as he stood by the edge of your bed. — Your hands had returned to the blanket, now by your knees, and your fingers twist uncomfortably in the fabric. The silence is so loud it rings in your ears, causing an almost screeching noise.
But then, without as much as a word, he takes a step forward. The mattress dips under the weight of him as one of his knees sink into the soft cushion. His spotless face, now mere inches from yours make your eyes widen in surprise. — He doesn’t say anything, nor does he hesitate when he presses his lips against yours.
He’s warm.
For six years, two thousand one hundred and ninety days, you had been cold, terribly so. Nothing could bring you comfort, nothing could make the icy feeling go away. Nothing but him. The small touch of his skin against yours set your body aflame, and for the first time in so long, you felt alive again, even if only for a moment.
His lips are unmoving against your own, warm and soft. You don’t dare open your eyes, instead you remain equally still, almost frozen in place. And when five seconds have passed you think he might pull away, demanding you come with him to wherever awaited, but he doesn’t.
You kiss him, you kiss him in the way you would those you longed for, those you lusted after. But not those you loved, for you don’t think you had ever loved anyone like that. Without stopping to think, your cold hand reaches for his face, trembling as your palm comes to rest against his cheek.
You want to hold on forever, never letting this moment go. He must feel your nails digging into his shoulder now, your hand on his face pulling him closer. But even then, he remains unfazed. For a second you think he might actually kiss you back, that he might reciprocate that feeling of life that you so longed for. He doesn’t.
He pulls back only when your tongue swipes across his bottom lip, a guarded expression on his otherwise melancholy face. His cheeks are flushed and there’s a soft redness to his warm skin, one that you were certain hadn’t been there before. Though his soft breaths are hardly matching your near panting ones.
Your hand falls from his face and you swallow. “I don’t want to die.” It didn’t matter if you were already dead, that was not the same as what you were about to face. An end to your time on earth, a cease in your existence. You want to think about your mother, you want to remember her face even in death, and you want to hear her voice even as the ground swallows you whole.
But you can’t look away from him, from his beautiful and nearly expressionless face. You had never imagined the face of death to be beautiful, for it had always been described as a painful and sorrowful experience. It is permanent, with no way to ever go back.
Tears spill down your wet cheeks, an ugly sob ripping from your thick throat. Your body trembles, but not from the cold. — “I’m scared…” The admission is a mere breath, one so silent only he could hear.
He shakes his head, the movement slow and soft. “Don’t be.” Is all he says, and for some reason you find solace in his words.
Then he presses his lips against yours, briefly startling you as your eyes widen. That same feeling of warmth embraces you once again, and you feel the ice around you slowly melting. He kisses you just like you had him a mere moment ago. Except his kiss holds love. A love that felt almost sacred, like you were undeserving of it.
Your body feels numb, and you could feel yourself becoming almost drowsy. It doesn’t hurt, none of it does. In fact you can barely feel anything but his lips on yours.
Death wasn’t painful, nor was it agonizing. It was beautiful. The man before you was the epitome of it, and you did not fear him. You did not fear what would come after, and you did not fear that nothing would come at all.
Your soul died that night, but it died warm.

After the game of “Red Light, Green Light”, you convinced yourself that it was better to detach yourself from…everything, really. You would not make alliances unless absolutely necessary, and you most definitely wouldn’t form a personal connection with anyone in the game, no matter what.
That is, until you met her. You had first encountered her before the game of Tug-Of-War, when she asked you to join her team.
Your team ended up winning the game, but the traumatizing effect it had on all of you were almost palpable in the air as you rode the elevator down. This time, it wasn’t the guards doing the killing. You had all killed other innocent human beings by your very own hands.
As much as you had fought to remain detached, you couldn’t help but start shaking. Those people… they were just like you. They had a life too-
“I know what you’re thinking. Don’t think like that.” she whispered in your ear. She grabbed your chin and tilted it up to meet her eyes, “Hey, look at me. There was nothing you could’ve done. Would you rather have been the one to die up there?”
You shook your head no.
“Exactly. So move on.”
She had a point, but that night, you were kept awake. Tossing and turning in your cold bunk, you couldn’t shake the memory of the blood-curdling screams of the other team as they fell to their deaths.
Finally, you decided to go to the bathroom and see if splashing your face with cold water would help. Once you got there, you were surprised to find the beautiful mystery girl from the Tug-Of-War game already there, leaning against the sinks with her back towards you.
You turned on the faucet of the sink next to hers, “Didn’t expect to see you here.”
“I could say the same for you.”
You splashed cold water on your face and sighed heavily. You were right, it did help. You turned to her, briefly glancing at her perfect jawline before your eyes met hers, who you realized were already looking at you with brimming intensity.
“Listen, if you’re still thinking about that game - I already told you, there’s nothing you could’ve done. I’ve said it once, I don’t mind saying it a hundred times until I finally beat it into your head. It’s not your fault. And all that matters is we’re still alive.”
Her words comforted you more than she’d ever know, and you felt suddenly self-conscious. She was probably feeling some sort of trauma too, yet you had no words whatsoever that could possibly help her as much as she had helped you. So you simply offered her a small smile and whispered, “Thank you.”
Without thinking, you reached out, your hand slightly brushing against hers. When you weren’t met with any resistance, you hesitantly took her hand in yours. You were relieved to see that she didn’t pull away nor did she have any intention to - anytime soon, anyway.
She stepped towards you slowly, her eyes glancing to your lips before darting back up to your eyes. You could’ve sworn you saw an almost unnoticeable, rare hint of nervousness in her usually expressionless eyes as she asked, “Can I kiss you?”
You felt the blood rush to your cheeks, and you were sure she could hear your heart almost beating out of your chest. You nodded dumbly.
Without breaking eye contact, she leaned in and captured your mouth in a passionate kiss. Your tongues tangled together before you finally gave in and let her dominate you. Your hands found their way into her beautiful hair, pulling her impossibly closer.
She pulled back, panting. Desperate for more of her, you immediately moved down to suck and bite on her neck. Her eyes were glossed over with lust as she breathed out, “Kang Saebyeok.”
You paused, “What?”
“My name. It’s Saebyeok.” her lips twitched upward in a half-smirk, about to pull you back into another kiss, “So you know what to scream out later.”
You couldn’t hold back a choked moan at the implication.
What a beautiful name. How fitting.
Panting, you pulled away and pushed Saebyeok against the sink with a random burst of confidence. You reached down and pulled down her pants, your own need now masking any self-consciousness you felt earlier. After she nodded her permission, you slid two fingers inside her panties, and you sighed in satisfaction at the warmth and wetness that was already waiting for you. Her soft gasps filled the room as your fingers found her clit and gently pressed against it, already swollen with arousal.
You dropped to your knees and peeled off her underwear, exposing the pretty pink folds glistening wet. You moaned at the sight. “I dreamed of tasting you,” you murmured.
Saebyeok’s legs trembled slightly as she used her arms to brace herself against the sink, her eyes dark with lust. “Do it then,” her commanding voice managed to turn you on even more.
You definitely didn’t need any more encouragement. You leaned in, nose brushing against Saebyeok’s inner thigh as you inhaled the sweet scent of her arousal. You proceeded to kiss your way up, teasing her sensitive skin with light touches, until you finally reached her dripping wet cunt. Your tongue swirled around her clit, tasting her addicting sweetness.
Saebyeok’s hands gripped the edges of the sink as she gasped in pleasure, her knuckles turning whiter by the second. Her moans grew louder, echoing off the bathroom walls. You felt a thrill of power surge through you, knowing that you had reduced this beautiful, dominant woman to a moaning mess just by your tongue.
Her taste was so intoxicating that it made you almost dizzy.
“Fuck,” Saebyeok moaned out, her hips bucking against your mouth. “You’re so fucking good at this.”
You placed your hands on the sides of her hips, holding her still as your tongue fucked deeper into her, teeth gently grazing the sensitive flesh around Saebyeok’s clit. You felt a shiver run through Saebyeok’s body, and knew she was close. The taste of her was unbelievably addictive, but you wanted more.
“Say my name,” you stopped your ministrations to whisper out. The vibrations against her pussy made her squirm above you, but you kept her hips steady as you looked up at her, “It’s Y/N.”
“Y/N, Y/N I’m gonna come,” Saebyeok panted, her voice unusually tight as you continued to lap at her folds. “Oh, fuck, right there!”
All you did was hum in response. She could feel the orgasm building, and knew she couldn’t hold on much longer, not with your skilled tongue fucking her this good.
Saebyeok came with a strangled cry, her body arching into your mouth as she climaxed. You felt the warm, slick liquid fill your mouth and swallowed all of it hungrily, sucking at every last drop until she came down from her high.
She gently pulled you up to her feet, looking at you with lust-filled eyes. “Your turn,” she murmured. Before you could even catch your breath, Saebyeok captured your mouth in a bruising kiss, biting and tugging at your bottom lip.
With unsurprising strength, Saebyeok scooped you up and set you on top of the sink, your legs dangling over the edge. She stepped in between them, then removed your pants and underwear in one go. The sudden coolness sent a jolt through you, making you want to pull Saebyeok closer.
She leaned in to kiss you again, and you easily melted into the kiss, your body responding instinctively to her touch.
Saebyeok slid her hand between your legs, her fingers slipping into the wetness that had pooled there. You moaned into the kiss, hips rocking against her fingers as you wordlessly begged for more. The sound seemed to fuel something in Saebyeok.
“You’re so wet for me,” Saebyeok said against your lips, her voice a low growl.
You could only whimper in response, your hands fisting through her hair as you felt your climax building. The sensation of Saebyeok’s fingers moving inside you, hitting your g-spot with every thrust, was almost too much to bear.
“I’m gonna make you come,” Saebyeok whispered, her eyes never leaving yours. “You’re gonna scream my name.”
You nodded frantically. “Please,” you begged, voice barely above a whisper. “Make me come, Saebyeok.”
Saebyeok smirked, her eyes full of satisfaction, and her thumb began to circle your clit with skillful pressure while her fingers continued to roughly thrust into you. Each stroke sent shivers of pleasure shooting through your body, making your legs tremble.
Your moans grew louder, echoing through the quiet, empty bathroom. You could feel the orgasm rising. “Oh,” you gasped, your head falling back. “Saebyeok, I’m going to…”
“Come for me,” Saebyeok ordered. Her fingers didn’t even slow down as she worked you closer to the edge.
The words were like a dam breaking, and with a loud moan, you came. Your body convulsed, muscles spasming around Saebyeok’s fingers as wave after wave of pleasure crashed through you. You had never felt so alive, so exposed, so utterly consumed by another person.
Saebyeok didn’t stop her ministrations, fingering you through your high. She watched with a smug smile as your eyes rolled back, your breath coming in ragged pants. “That’s it,” she encouraged, her thumb pressing firmly on your clit.
Once she had wrung every last ounce of ecstasy from you, Saebyeok slowly withdrew her hand, her eyes never leaving yours. She brought her fingers to her mouth, moaning at the taste of you on her tongue. The sight almost made you cum again on the spot.
Legs weak and trembling, you slid off the counter, pulling Saebyeok closer for another kiss. It was softer this time, nothing like what you had been doing just seconds ago.
She pulled away first and rested her forehead on yours.
“I wish we could stay like this forever,” you whispered, a hint of sadness barely noticeable in your voice.
“Me too,” she replied, grabbing a paper towel and wiping the two of you clean. She pulled her own bottoms back on, then helped you into yours.
The two of you agreed that she would walk out first, then you would go after a few minutes in order not to raise suspicion. When you entered the dormitory, you were glad to see that people were still fast asleep, no one awake to hear yours and Saebyeok’s moans - thankfully, because in hindsight, yours were embarrassingly loud.
You settled comfortably back into your sheets and fell asleep with a small smile, for once not worried about what was to come in this hellhole, as long as you had Saebyeok by your side.

˖ . ݁𝜗𝜚. ݁₊ popular!chris feels like he’s one step further from finding out who cinderella!reader is but nick is feeling the opposite…
this is a repost. i accidentally deleted this last week :(
read this first so everything in the below makes sense!
it had been three days since the fancy dress party.
three days since the identity of your mystery love had been revealed to you as chris, three days of him pacing back and forth, worrying that you’d be done with him now that you knew who he was, and for chris it had been three days of complete radio silence.
the car was quiet as matt drove them all to campus this morning, nate in the passenger seat, and chris and nick sitting in the back.
“so, what’s the deal now then?” matt asks, glancing at chris through the rearview mirror, “heard from her yet? is she still ignorin’ your messages?”
chris sighs, his gaze fixed out the window, “yep,” he replies, dragging the word out. “gettin’ complete radio silence from her, haven’t heard a fuckin’ thing since she ran from me on friday night.”
nate muttered from the front seat, his voice barely audible, knowing it was a touchy subject, “maybe she wasn’t expecting you to be, you know.. you”
chris raises an eyebrow, “what’s that supposed to mean?”
nate turns slightly from the front of the car to face chris, a teasing smirk creeping on his face, “i don’t want to boost your ego man because we all know sometimes it’s big enough, but you are the football captain, the golden boy” nate chuckles, “cmon, every boy wants to be you and every girl wants to be with you, that shit’s intense, maybe she just wasn’t expecting that and panicked.”
chris sighs, sinking further into this seat. he had spent the whole weekend over thinking it all. one of the main reasons he had fallen for you as hard as he had was because you didn’t treat him the way everyone else did, he wasn’t just the popular football captain to you, he was just chris. with you, there was never any expectations of him, no pressure and he just couldn’t get you running from him out of his mind.
before his thoughts could spiral further, nick interrupted them, “so, you got no fuckin’ clue at all who she was? i mean, you must’ve seen something, even with her running off like that.”
chris hesitated, his mind flickering back to the party on friday. he had nothing to go off, except for what you had accidentally left behind.
he pulled the shiny object from his bag, holding it up for everyone in the car to see. “she dropped this when she ran,” he was holding your tiara, “it’s all i got to work with right now.”
nick’s eyes locked onto the tiara in his brother’s hand, his stomach dropped. his mind flashing back to the party, it was the same one—the exact same one you had been wearing when he bumped into you on the stairs, he hadn’t made the connection until now but now it was clear as anything. the tiara, it belonged to you.
when nick had first seen you at the party, he almost didn’t recognise you. you looked so different from the girl he sat next to in biology, so different from the quiet shy diner girl everyone knew you as. you had only shared brief but pleasant exchanges in class, but at the party when he passed you, he noticed you, he had really noticed you, something he’d never done before but now, with this new information from chris it felt like the universe had put you there for nick to intentionally remember.
as chris spoke again, nick couldn’t tear his gaze away from the tiara. his mind was racing but he kept his face calm, not wanting to give anything away until he had the definite confirmation, although he was pretty certain.
matt, glancing at nick in the rear view mirror noticed the shift in nick’s expression. his usual, confident self had disappeared instantly as chris pulled the tiara out but matt figured it was just one of those moments where nick was being grumpy, not thinking too much into it.
“so,” matt said, pulling into the college parking lot, trying to break the subtle tension. “you’re not giving up on finding her then?”
chris hadn’t noticed the shift in the car, still staring at the shiny object in his hand, completely lost in thought. “no way, i’ll figure it out.” he smirks, “she’s out there somewhere,” his gaze directed towards the numerous students hurrying around the parking lot surrounding the car.
matt parks up cutting the engine, and the four of them got out the car, making their way towards campus. chris leading the group, walking backwards, facing his friends with a confident grin. “i’ve got a plan for the football game friday, just gotta hope she’ll be there.”
nick hesitated for a moment, his thoughts lingering on the fact that he had never seen you at a football game before. he muttered under his breath, a smirk on his face, just loud enough for them to hear. “yeah, good luck with that.”

Bruised, Not Broken (Part 2)
This is part 2 of a one-shot I posted and it is based on this request. There will definitely be part 3 and maybe part 4 but we'll see :) Also, I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful support and I love you all <3
Contains: angst, mentions of pregnancy
Wordcount: 2.84k
Masterlist
Everything was spinning.
The ground beneath you was moving and although you knew that your mind was probably playing a trick on you you reached out to hold on to the wall of the inn.
You couldn't even cry. Your eyes were dry as a desert.
You knew you had to do something, walk away from this place but your body was frozen. Numb.
Everything was twisting and turning inside of you and as if it was a further sign from the gods the child in your womb kicked and moved so much that your upper body buckled.
You had nothing left in the world. Everything about this felt surreal and distant but at the same time you instantly knew your life would never be the same. What were you to do?
If someone walked past you they would probably assume that you were perfectly fine because your internal chaos wasn't visible from the outside. Your only reaction was the way your bottom lip trembled.
You didn't know how long you were standing by the brothel. Perhaps you could've measured the time by the movement of the sun but you couldn't raise your head high enough to watch it. Your eyes searched the crowd and only after a few minutes did you ask yourself why you had just done it. What had you been looking for? A sign that all of this was just a nightmare?
What were you to do? was the question repeatedly appearing in your head. What if you just ran away? You could find a boat and go to Essos. You could raise your child there and never hear from Daemon again.
Suddenly there was a sharp pain in your stomach and the tears that washed over you came so unexpected that you choked on a cry. Images of your husband appeared in your head. His smile, the way he tilted his head, his warm eyes. You allowed your tears to flow because otherwise you might have exploded and then soon, you didn't know where she had come from, you saw a woman's face in front of you through the veil of tears.
"My lady, are you quite alright?"
With trembling lips you nodded and tightened your grip on the facade of the house.
"Are you sure? Something I can do?"
You shook your head and then she left after giving you another suspicious glance. You were left alone and truthfully you appreciated it.
Time passed with you trying to calm yourself somehow but you couldn't fight the occasional breakouts and then, it was almost dark now, you knew you had to do something. You would either freeze here or get assaulted by someone and despite all your emotions, your child was still your priority.
You took a step back from this damned brothel and felt like a babe learning how to walk. Your knees were wobbly and your whole body was shaking so hard that you wished you could hold on to something. And yet you made it to the middle of the street and as if your whole life hadn't just got shattered into a million pieces you started to make your way back to the red keep.
In some way you were torn apart because you wished you could avoid Daemon for the rest of your life and not feel embarrassed and humiliated by merely looking at him but on the other hand the thought of screaming and shouting at him until you'd lose your voice sounded tempting as well.
When you eventually arrived at the keep you felt like you were about to explode from all the anger inside of you and you knew in order to survive, you needed to get it out. The guards were obviously too professional to comment on your expression and just allowed you to enter the castle and then the first thing that you did was make your way up to your chambers.
You didn't know what to expect. You didn't know what time it was so you thought that Daemon might still be out. Perhaps it would be even better that way so you could have a little more time to prepare yourself for the confrontation.
Your nails dug into the palms of your hands while you stared at the door. Driven by your rage you opened it and immediately heard a noise inside. You pressed your teeth into your bottom lip and slowly entered the room while searching for your husband.
"Honey!" he shouted and your eyes found him by the table. "Where have you been, I thought you would only be gone for an hour. Did something happen? I was so worried, tell me. Are you fine?"
Mayhaps he mistook your teary eyes with a reaction to something that had happened to you. You flashed your eyes at him and hissed out when his hand reached out to touch your upper arm.
"No," you dangerously whispered and you could see his eyes widening.
"What is it?"
You chuckled quietly but could feel your veins throbbing. "Fuck you."
"Darling, what – "
"Shut up. And don't call me darling," you said close to tears now and pushed him away from you.
"Y/n, I don't understand – " "DON'T FUCKING LIE TO ME," you screamed completely overtaken by your rage which concerned Daemon so much that he took a step back.
"OF COURSE YOU UNDERSTAND YOU STUPID LIAR. I KNOW WHAT YOU DID."
Despite feeling unaware of the fact that you had started to cry again, you tasted something salty on your lips.
"No, y/n, please listen to me."
"I don't wanna listen to anything out of your mouth, EVER AGAIN," you hissed and pointed with your finger at him.
"You are an arsehole, an evil lying disgusting arsehole. You fucking CHEATED on me while I was here in the keep scared of having a miscarriage and then you came back here acting all loving and caring without even having any regrets. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU??"
You were blinded by your emotions and didn't care about wakening up the whole castle. You wanted to hit him in his face until you forgot about his existence. Before you could even register it Daemon reached out to your hand and enclosed it tightly.
"Please, darling, I didn't know. I didn't know that you were in danger, otherwise I would've been here immediately."
You pulled back trying to free your hand from his grip and eventually he let go.
"You CHEATED, Daemon. NOTHING can justify this. Why the fuck would you do this?" you cried and dropped your head to your chest feeling very tired suddenly.
"I'm sorry. I know I fucked it up," he whispered and tried to come closer to you.
"Stay back," you sobbed.
He watched you cry for a few minutes and for some reason it made you even angrier. How could he just stand there acting like nothing was wrong while you bawled your eyes out? Why didn't he cry? Why wasn't he on his knees apologizing?
You wiped over your eyes with the back of your hand. "I don't wanna see you again. I'm gonna leave the keep."
Now Daemon's eyebrows lifted and for the first time he looked genuinely concerned. "What."
"I'm gonna leave. Do you actually think I want to spend another second in your presence after what you have done to me?"
Daemon took a step towards you and grabbed your shoulder.
"We have a child together. You can't just leave, we're married."
"Oh I can. Watch me," you hissed quietly.
"Y/n, don't be childish now."
You laughed out loudly and Daemon seemed so worried now that you could see in his body's reaction that he was nervous.
"I'm childish? You cheated on me and now you're calling me childish because I say don't want to live with you?"
"It was a one-time thing, gods be good. I won't go the brothel again. Ever. If that's what you want."
"You can do whatever you want from now on. You can go fuck your whores as often as you like, I don't care."
Daemon shook his head and looked to the ground. "That's not I want. I want you."
"Well, if you did, you wouldn't have cheated on me, Daemon Targaryen."
Your voice was barely more than a whisper and you were proud of yourself for sounding so indifferent although inside of you there was a storm.
"How did you find out?" he breathed after a moment of silence.
"I passed the brothel. And then the owner saw me and asked when you would come by again. I was confused and he explained everything to me."
Daemon pressed his hand on his eyes and murmured something you didn't understand but you didn't care to ask him.
"I'll leave tonight."
He closed his eyes looking frustrated. "Y/n, you can't just leave like this. Please be reasonable for a moment. You're with child and where do you even wanna go?"
"I'll find something," you whispered and then the both of you remained silent for a few minutes before you started to speak again.
"As I said so many times before, you're not able to listen to me. You don't understand what I'm saying and why I'm saying it. I guess now you don't have to anymore."
Daemon gulped loudly and tilted his head at you.
"What do you want me to do? I'll do anything, what do I have to do so you'll forgive me?"
"There is nothing. You broke my trust, you betrayed me and nothing will ever make up for it."
He shook his head and now you could finally see some tears in his eyes as well.
"Don't say that…," Daemon whispered.
"Goodbye," you whispered and turned around.
For a moment you thought he was coming after you but then you were already standing in the corridor and asked yourself whether you had wanted him to come after you or not.
1 month later
"I don't wish to see him, Ser Roggers."
"He's persistent."
Yes he was. Daemon had written countless letters to you, begging you to come back and if you were being honest with you you were surprised he acted so pathetic and had just swallowed his pride like this.
"Tell him that I'm not here."
Ser Roggers looked down to the ground. "It's too late for that, my lady."
"Then tell him something else, I don't care. I'm not gonna see him."
You crossed your legs and turned around signalizing him that the conversation was over now so Ser Roggers had no choice but to bow and leave your chambers.
Once you heard the door closing you sighed out and leaned back in your chair. It had been almost a month since you had left Daemon and everything that was happening around you still seemed absurd and surreal. You were living at Dragonstone now as Viserys had found that it was the only solution to this "situation" as he had called it.
The night after you had found out about Daemon cheating on you you had intended to storm out of the red keep but Viserys, who had found about your argument with his brother, had stepped in your way before you could even leave the castle.
At first he had tried everything to convince you to stay but after he had realized that nothing would make you spend another hour in Daemon's presence he had decided to grant you some time alone but in order to hide this crisis from the smallfolk Viserys had ordered you to go to Dragonstone.
Therefore you had a safe and warm place to live during you pregnancy and what would follow after you didn't want to think about right now.
You sat in your chair a few more minutes until Ser Roggers returned to your chambers. His facial expression worried you at first and you flared your nostrils.
"Is he gone?" He sighed but then nodded. "Yes. He left."
You exhaled deeply. "Good."
"But my lady, I don't think… I mean I think it would be good to see him. He's the father of your child. And your husband."
You rolled your eyes and grinded your teeth threateningly.
"I don't want to see him. He humiliated and embarrassed me and just because he inserted himself inside of me once doesn't mean I'm obligated to spend the rest of my life with him."
He widened his eyes at your inappropriate words but you ignored it.
"I wish to be left alone by him. I do hope you have made that clear to him. No more letters or visits."
"I tried to, yes. But I don't know if he'll actually do it."
You rolled your eyes again. "Then try harder."
Ser Roggers bowed and then excused himself and you were left with a bitter feeling in your stomach. You didn't want to be mean to your most loyal and closest companion here but just hearing Daemon's name made your blood boil. And yet it wasn't Ser Rogger's fault, he only followed your orders.
With a feeling of regret you promised yourself that you would be kinder to him in the morrow and then rose from your chair. It was still early but you were feeling quite tired already so you made your way to the door to ask your servants to prepare your supper so you could go to sleep early.
The next weeks passed and each day you felt like everything you were doing became more difficult. Your belly has swelled to an unimaginable size and soon the easiest things such as walking up a staircase became almost unbearable.
And then you were in your ninth month and you made a decision that probably shocked you the most out of all people.
You allowed Daemon to visit you.
You couldn't even exactly explain why you chose to do it but the date of the birth of your child growing closer triggered a feeling of both helplessness and reasonableness in you. Because as much as you still hated him and swore yourself you'd never come back to him on a daily basis you knew that he would demand to see his child. It would be his heir after all and even you couldn't deny him to visit his child.
And well aware that the first few weeks after giving birth would be hard for you you decided to rather get used to seeing him every now and then now.
When you told Ser Roggers the news his jaw dropped and he was too stunned to speak for a second.
"Pardon me, my lady. But did you say I am to invite the prince to dragonstone?"
The last weeks Daemon had still kept you busy with a lot of letters begging and pleading for your forgiveness and you had been quite vocal about your displeasure so it was no wonder Ser Roggers was confused now.
"Yes. Of course you may not invite him to live here with me. Just for an afternoon or supper."
The knight hesitate but then nodded. "F-Fine. I'm going to make it happen, my lady."
And so on the very same evening the message arrived that Daemon would be coming to dragonstone on the next day. Ser Roggers told you that Daemon had intended to come the very same day but he had refused him with the explanation that you needed a lot of sleep in this state so your husband had insisted on coming with the first light of dawn.
That night you went to sleep with an odd feeling in your stomach. You didn't know what it would be like to see him again. It had barely been two months and yet you so felt so distant to him that you caught yourself thinking whether you had actually known him at some point. What if he would drag you back to the red keep?
'No,' you thought and turned to your other side. 'All of this is still under Viserys' watch and Daemon wouldn't turn against his own brother.' But well, hadn't he turned against you? His wife?
You thought back to your life months ago. How well you were able to remember how happy you had been when the maesters had told you that you were with child. Your life had seemed perfect. A loving and protecting husband who worshiped you like a goddess. A safe and comfortable life in the keep and a promising future.
Unconcsiously tears had welled in your eyes and you blinked several times. You couldn't fool yourself, because as strong and angry you appeared towards the people here at dragonstone and first and foremost Ser Roggers, you were deeply hurt and had found yourself crying to sleep more than once.
Everything could have been magical if Daemon hadn't been so stupid to destroy it. All he had to do was open his eyes and see what both your lives had become now because you were certain that he wasn't any happier now as well. And that was entirely his fault.
You clenched your fist and gulped loudly. You had to stay strong now. Tonight and tomorrow. This would only work if you'd be able to control your feelings and remain calm.
You raised your chin and then fell asleep.

part 1 | part 2 | part 3
-------
You return back to your dorm, your mind still reeling. What the hell was that? You did not know why you were suddenly feeling this way, and more than that, you definitely did not know why you were feeling this towards your sworn nemesis, Remus freaking Lupin.
Those were just feelings…of annoyance. That’s it. Nothing, nothing more than that. You sigh heavily and dump your bag on your bed.
Lily looks up from her bed as you enter. “Hey, how was tutoring? By the way, I got us those ginger cookies that were out of stock”
You shrug absentmindedly. “Eh.”
Lily chuckles softly and shakes her head, the response valid from you. She leans back on her bed, flipping through her book. “Was Remus terrible, then?” She asks teasingly.
You blink and look away, your heart skipping a beat at the name. “What? Why would I care what Remus was like? I mean-" You scoff a small nervous laugh. “Remus can just like, go missing, for all I care. Like, I just hate him, you know, I hate his guts. That man is intolerable. Completely and utterly infuriating. Did I mention I hate him?” You blabber defensively, almost like you were trying to convince yourself that you hated him.
Lily blinks and furrows her eyebrows in confusion and surprise. “Oookay? Are you okay?” She asks in concern.
You nod with a wide grin. “Me? I’m fine- I am. I am just…amazing. Why, how are you?” You say with a nervous laugh.
Lily narrow her eyes, and looks at you with a tilted head. “Why did you get so…defensive when I mentioned Remus?” She asks in amusement.
You huff. “Because…I hate him. Yep. I. Hate. Him.”
Lily nods slowly, with a slight smirk and goes back to reading. You’re relieved Lily seems to have dropped the subject. You walk inside the shared bathroom, sighing.
Lily calls out from the bed, still looking down at her book. “Do you like him?” She asks with a knowing smirk.
The bathroom door opens so fast it might have broken. “WHAT?”
You look at her with a horrid expression. “Why would you say that? I hate Remus, I don’t like him, Jesus.”
Lily smirks up at you triumphantly. “I never said anything about Remus.”
You groan and face palm yourself. How did you fall for that one? Lily, unbeknownst to your agony, sits up in bed and looks at you with the most excited grin. “Oh my god! Do you have feelings for Remus?”
You huff and narrow your eyes, pointing a threatening finger at her. “I don’t have feelings for Remus.” You grimace. “The only feelings I have for Remus are hatred. Pure hatred. And anger. And frustration. And infuriation. Is that a word? Is infuriation a word?” You ask, threatening finger still pointed.
“Yes, it’s a word.”
“Great! That is exactly what I feel for him, then.”
Lily puts her hands up in defense, smiling. “Okay. You hate him. I got it.”
You huff. “Good. Now where are those cookies?"
-----------
The next time you saw Remus, he looked as pale as a ghost. There were deep bags under his eyes and he looked like he could pass out any moment.
You knew why it was. It was the week of the full moon, and those days had to be hard. You would know, you had read all about lycanthropy the day you found out about Remus. Out of pure curiosity and thirst for knowledge, of course. You found yourself almost concerned for him, in a sense. You weren’t one to empathize with Remus, but you weren’t made of cold stone, either.
You sit down, late as always, on the desk next to him. Remus sits up, wincing slightly, and opens his books. “Where did we leave off last time?”
You open your books and show him the last topic. You look at his tired expression. “You’re not going to lecture me this time? Scold me for being late?”
Remus sighs and closes his eyes for a moment before opening them again, looking at his book. His head was bursting. “Not really. Sorry to deprive you of the pleasure.”
You narrow your eyes at him and start working. You look at Remus as he explains the topic to you, and you almost feel bad, listening to him drawl on about the effects of Veritaserum.
His eyes are tired and his face is pale. The brightness in his expression is gone. You find yourself thinking how unfair it is, for someone innocent to be affected so much by something that wasn’t even their fault. You almost feel yourself pitying him, stuck in this library and teaching you Potions. But you know Remus would never want pity. He’s just not like that. It’s the one thing you can bring yourself to admire about him.
As you study, you try to keep to yourself as much, to not bother him. Not because you care, but because you don’t want to get into an argument.
After a while, you hear hushed (or not so hushed) voices from the other side of bookshelf. The voices snicker quietly. “I would be embarrassed if I was him.”
You distinctly recognize the voices as Snape and Avery’s. The library is quiet, and you and Remus can hear every word they are saying.
“Yeah, always hanging out with those two arrogant pricks like their lapdog. I can bet they only keep him around because they feel bad for him.”
“And have you seen his face? It’s all scratched up, like some scary monster. He’s such a freak.” They snicker.
Remus feels his entire face heat up, and looks down at his book. Normally, he would say something, stand up for himself. But, he was too exhausted to even stand up right now. You notice Remus’ embarrassed gaze on his book, and your hands clench subconsciously. Why wasn’t he saying anything?
Avery snickers, “Must run in his blood. I mean, what would you expect after his father married that filthy muggle?”
Snape continues, “No wonder he doesn’t hang out with many people. I don’t know why Lily goes near him, anyways. Hanging out with Half-bloods like that Lupin. Serves her right for being a mudblood, I guess.”
That was the last straw. With a loud scrape of chairs, Remus and you both got up. Before Remus could make his way to them, however, you had already beat him to that. You stood with your hands clenched into tight fists and a death glare fixed on the two slytherin boys.
“What did you say?” You ask dangerously, your jaw tightened.
Avery and Snape faltered beneath your stare but retorted back, “You heard what we said. He’s a lousy, fucking filthy Half-blood who can’t keep his mouth sh-"
A sickening crack was heard as Snape was cut off with the courtesy of your fist to his crooked nose. He groaned in pain, clutching his nose. Remus stood with his eyes widened, his gaze fixed on you. Was this a dream? Had you really defended Remus? Had you just punched someone for him? He almost felt surprised at the little flutter his heart did.
You lean down, your glaring eyes level with Snape, who was still holding his bleeding nose. “No one gets to talk about him like that except for me.” You say, in a threatening dangerous voice. Remus would be lying if he said he wasn’t a little intimidated by you himself, as he watched with his mouth gaping.
You stand back up, and Snape and Avery scuttle out of their seats, running away from there as fast as they can. As they leave, you shake your hand slightly, wincing as you look down at your now injured knuckles.
Remus stands there speechless for a moment before he finds his voice again. “I didn’t know you could throw a punch like that.”
You grimace at you hand and look at him. “Well, there’s plenty you don’t know about me, Lupin.” You say, but there’s no real hindrance in your voice, only a weird gentleness and concern in your expression.
You both stand in silence for a while. “Thank you.” Remus says sincerely. “For…doing that.” He’s touched albeit a little awkward. Who knew Remus Lupin would be thanking you one day?
You didn’t, that’s for sure. You blink at him, caught slightly off guard by his gratefulness. You look away, flexing your hand. “ Yeah, well…He was saying stuff about Lily, too.” You say attempting to be as nonchalant as you can with your knuckles bleeding from punching a guy in defense of Remus.
Remus nods, looking at your hand. “You should, um…You should probably get that cleaned up.”
You huff slightly with a slight smile. “By Pomfrey? No way. She’s scolded me far too much for scraped knuckles and bleeding noses. I would never hear the end of it.”
Remus finds himself chuckling slightly at your statement. “I could help.” Remus offers casually.
You look at him, surprised by his offer. “What?”
He blinks. “Oh, I mean…I um, I have some experience with…this stuff.” He says, gesturing vaguely to your scraped fingers. “I just…I could clean that up. I mean, I kind of owe you now.” He shrugs.
You nod slowly, looking thoughtful on the outside. “You do owe me. Okay, fine. How do I know you’re not just taking me to your dorm to murder me in cold blood?”
Remus rolls his eyes with a slight smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. “Ha-ha. Very funny. I still hate you. Come on, smart-ass.”
You smirk slightly as you both pick up your bags and make your way out of the library. “Yeah, I know. I hate you, too.” Your heart felt otherwise. You sigh quietly.
This was going to be one long night.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“Fuck.”
His grunt was muffled against the back of your neck. Unable to help it, his fingers dug painfully into your inner thigh, which he was holding up to give him a deeper entry. His seed burst into you as you both moaned.
This was you way of celebrating your first morning waking up next to each other, with you fully moved into the apartment. This was your home now, your bed.
“I love you.” you exhaled.
Spent, Jimin pulled out of you and kissed your temple, “I love you too, you little minx.”
His hand smoothed over your hip to find rest ok the side of your belly. At almost twenty weeks, you were definitely looking pregnant.
A faint smile drew across your face, “Hormones, or whatever.”
“Mm,” he kissed your neck again, “Glad I could satisfy. You’re so fucking hot like this, baby.”
You laughed and turned your head so you could kiss his lips slowly, the world slipping away for a moment. It could now only be you and him, locked faithfully together with your unborn child nestled comfortably within you.
True, there had been some bumps in the road with your argument, the Namjoon situation, and with your parents, but the two of you were breaking through all of that. Your relationship felt stronger and better than ever before.
When your lips parted, he sighed. You read his mind immediately, with the trip to LA looming over both of your heads. The flight would be early the next morning.
“Don’t go down this road again,” you whispered, “Doctor Yoon gave it the green light, and pregnant women fly every day. Plus, I won’t be alone. Chae will be with me.”
“I know,” he spackled his worries over with a grin, “It’s a very long flight, though. It’s going to feel so uncomfortable for you and I don’t want it to affect your sleep. Lack of sleep can raise your blood pressure.”
You giggled a little bit, adoring how much he cared for you . You sat up and scooted off the bed so you could head into the bathroom, “Countless things can raise my blood pressure, Jimin. Now why are you the one getting all worried, hm? You were the one who told me not to be concerned. Doctor Yoon approved this trip, and she would have said something if she was worried about my or the baby’s health.”
“You’re right, but do me a favor for my own sanity?”
“Hm?”
“Tell Chaeyoung about it,” he pleaded, “That way, she will be able to look out for you when I’m not there. It would make me feel a lot better with not being able to watch you like a hawk.”
You would be with her for most of the trip. For PR reasons and to avoid rumors, stylists were always flown separately from the boys.
You picked up his boxers off the corner of the bed and threw them at his face, “If that’s what will get you to relax, then fine.”
He chuckled as he balled up the underwear in his hands. As you disappeared into the master bathroom, he decided he wasn’t done toying with you. Smirking mischievously, he rolled out of bed and followed you.
You were brushing your sex-knotted hair in front of the mirror. The changes to your body were immaculate in his eyes. The fullness of your breasts and belly was so maternal. It created some kind of spiritual beauty that he’d never imagined. He adored how you had a little extra cushion on top of your hip bones and in your face. Your hair was silkier. Even your lips were a bit puffier.
And to top it all off, his cum was leaking down your legs.
As you brushed, he stood behind you, drinking in the sight through your reflection in the mirror. His hands cupped around the bottom of your bump, lips planting on your shoulder.
“You are the most stunning creature I’ve ever seen.”
You yawned deeply, putting your plastic hairbrush down. Your head fell back to rest on Jimin’s collarbone, eyes closed.
“And the most tired.” Jimin chuckled, kissing your jaw.
You grinned with a hum, letting him sway you gently, “Getting fucked at twenty weeks pregnant can be taxing.”
His low chuckle was another octave below normal, as it was the morning, “You asked for it sweetheart. Don’t think I don’t know what it means when you shift your ass against me like that.”
“You were asking for it,” you giggled, rubbing your belly along his hands, “Your morning wood and the way you held me tighter was quite the tell.”
The two of you stayed like this for a minute or so.
“At least it’s Sunday. You have all day to recuperate.”
You gently broke free of his hold and went to jump in the shower, “Not entirely. I haven’t packed a thing for this trip."
She was folding her boyfriend’s boxers and sorting them into a small pile on his bed. It was in her nature to offer assistance with things like this whenever he had a lot on his plate.
Namjoon finished whatever emails he had to send and made his way into the bedroom to contribute to the stuffing of his own suitcase. He paused in the doorframe and crossed his arms, letting his back rest against the post as a smile crept onto his face.
She was beautiful even performing the most mundane of tasks.
“Hana,” he sighed, “You really don’t need to be folding my underwear.”
Her round, dark eyes met his with humor, “I know. I guess I just wanted something to do.”
He could have sworn she became more endearing every day. With a laugh, he removed himself from the doorframe and went to crouch on the floor beside her, beginning to fold a pair of pants.
“Should be a fun trip.” Hana said.
Namjoon drew in a breath and spoke it out, “Yeah…should be.”
She pursed her lips, trying to appear amicable to his perspective, “You don’t need to pay her any mind, you know. You could decide to simply go away on business with your closest friends in the world and be content.”
He closed his eyes for a moment, his hands pausing all motion, “As a friend, that’s impossible.”
Hana rolled her eyes. As much as she adored the man beside her, she was beginning to wonder how correct his speculations were on this matter.
“Joonie, I love you, but this grudge of yours seems to be getting you nowhere. If you can’t be in close proximity to this woman, why on earth did you agree to that get-together with everyone?”
“That has nothing to do with her. I just miss being around the guys like that. I don’t intend on so much as speaking to her.” his tone reeked of bitterness.
She rubbed his shoulders, “What happened to the wise Namjoon? This is unlike you. I hate to say it, but I can see why this has grown a rift. I don’t believe you are being reasonable.”
Her tone was so gentle that it couldn’t possibly stir anger.
He continued to fold his clothes and pile them into his suitcase, “I can understand how it appears that way, I really can. But baby, you weren’t there when Seoyeon broke his heart. I have never seen a man so shattered. Jimin has always been a sensitive soul. And though he’s strong, I fear that another incident like that would break his spirit irreparably. He can’t handle that again. You weren’t…you weren’t there, Hana. He was drunk all the time, he stopped caring about anything, saying really…worrying things.”
He'd never mentioned it before - the episode. It was one of the worst moments of his entire life. Flashes of that dark morning ran through his mind, causing him to wince.
Her heart dipped, “I see. But, she pulled him out of it, right? She showed up and he’s been happy ever since.”
Namjoon bit the inside of his cheek, his tone dropping, “I see what you’re saying, and I even agree. I don’t deny that she makes him happy.”
“But…You’re trying to get him to give up on his happiness.”
“He was happy with Seoyeon too, Hana.”
She stood up, heading into his closet to grab some socks, “What evidence do you have, beyond mere speculation? I know you said she apparently she's told people that the father has wealth...but you don't know for sure that it's even true. Even if it is, are you sure that proves your theory?"
He groaned, "Why are you pressing so much? And yes, I believe it gives me a reason to be worried for Jimin."
"I don't think so." she muttered.
Namjoon huffed, turning his head to look at her, "Well I do."
"I think-"
"You're the world to me, baby, but I don't care to know what you think right now."
She ignored his warning, plopping some pairs of socks into his suitcase, "I think that at this point, you simply want to be right. You have dug your heels so deep that it's no longer about reason. You just want to win."
Now a heat began to rise between his ribs, "If 'winning' means that my younger brother doesn't go past the point of no return, then yeah, Hana. I want to fucking win."
The young woman softened. Her resolve to go to battle weakened once she realized there existed a story untold. Instead, she knelt beside him, looping her arms around his tense neck.
She kissed his cheek, “I’m sorry.”
He let out a breath and pulled her in for a quick hug, “I am too. And maybe I’m wrong. I just can’t risk feeling comfortable with her right now. I’m the only one in the group with his guard up. Until there is proof that her intentions are genuine, someone has to be vigilant.”
Hana grinned sympathetically, pushing some of her highlighted brown hair behind her ear,“You’re a really good friend, Joonie. But maybe the lack of any wrongdoings is the proof, you know? If she was really going for fame, she could have gone public a long time ago. You said they’ve moved in together, right? And still nothing?”
It gave him pause.
“Yeah, they have.”
She landed one final thought before the topic would be dropped, “Try to open your mind just a little bit, hm? If you want to be a good friend, then you also need to be prepared to be incorrect. Otherwise, you might miss out on something really amazing happening for Jimin. For all of you, really. One of you is going to be a father. If Y/N isn’t some gold digger, then this is good, right? Something to celebrate.”
Your knuckle was firm around the handle of your wheeled carry-on. You were waiting in line to show your passport so that you could then proceed into the security area for bag checks. Chaeyoung had texted you that she'd gotten out the door late and that her husband would be dropping her off in a short while. You didn't blame her - she had her twins to care for and say goodbye.
You were dressed in your most comfortable clothing possible, without overheating yourself on this humid first of September. The top you had on was Jimin's - an indistinguishable plain white t-shirt. He'd owned it for years and it came from a non-designer brand. It had a couple holes along its hem and a small tear on the right sleeve.
This new stage in your gestation had you growing out of your normal clothes, and almost none of your tops fit. For bottoms, you had a pair of black biker shorts. These were the only real maternity wear you had thus far, accommodating your swelling bump well enough to not make you feel suffocated.
Standing in line gave your mind time to wander. You thought about how you’d bid your boyfriend farewell at the apartment. You had to be at the airport earlier than he did. A small smile came to grace your features as you thought about his gentle touch, the way he held you and kissed you, making you feel secure as the most important person in his life. How he got on his knees to give the baby a kiss before you went out the door, his hair wet and slicked back after just getting out of the shower.
Any reminiscing was cut short by the sound of a young woman’s squeal. It was soon followed by a swarm of others, and a rush of quickened footsteps in one direction. As everyone else in the waiting line did, you lifted your head to see what the commotion was about.
You should have known.
Behind and enclosed by their security guards, the members entered the airport. They were closeby, but you could only faintly catch a glimpse of Jimin before a group of people gathered to block your view.
People were clambering to see them, buzzing past you like a flock of birds. One young woman, blinded by the frenzy, ran into the back of your shoulder, barreling you forward.
Unable to catch yourself on your suitcase, you fell to the white terrazzo floor with a thud that no one could hear above the screaming. Thankfully, your body’s protective motions kicked in and you landed on your palms first, giving yourself a split second to reinforce yourself on your knees, guarding your belly from impacting.
The woman who was standing behind you was quick to come to your aid. She had long espresso hair and bangs, dark eyes filled with concern, “Oh gosh, are you alright?”
She put her hand on your back and the other held your forearm as she helped you to your feet.
“Yes, I’m okay,” you said with a raised voice so she could hear you, “Thank you so much.”
You hadn’t noticed you were doing it, but your hands were on your bump, making it more apparent. It was as if you were trying to soothe your mind, or your child, or both.
The woman glanced down, “Oh, I didn’t even realize. Are you out sure you’re alright? I can call for the medical staff to check you out.”
You offered a nervous smile and waved your hand, “No, no I’m okay. I appreciate it, though.”
The woman’s eyes were in your torso for a moment. Then she sighed, placing her hand on her own abdomen, which was rounded unmistakably. She looked further along than you were.
“No worries. We have to look out for each other, don’t we? BTS shows up and suddenly no one cares about running over a pregnant woman.”
You laughed lightly, “Yeah, apparently so.”
The line began to move a little, and you both shuffled forward where you could.
“So how far along are you?” she asked, her tone oozing with a honey sweetness.
“Twenty weeks.”
“Halfway,” she chuckled, “I’m Twenty-eight.”
Your brows raised as you gladly engaged her, “Wow. You look great, by the way.”
She beamed, “Thank you. Believe me I don’t always feel that way, but I’ve been assured that it will be worth it.”
It was a pleasure to be able to relate to someone like this, “Same. Is this your first?”
The woman nodded.
“Me too,” you sighed, moving up in the line once more, “Anyway, where are you traveling?”
“Los Angeles,” she said, “My husband is wrapping up on some business there. We’re going to treat this as something of a babymoon.”
You giggled, “I am too! Not for a romantic getaway, though. For work.”
“Oh, how funny,” she laughed, “Let’s grab a decaf together then, as we wait to board. Takeoff isn’t for another hour or so.”
You were the next person in line now, waiting to be called forward by one of the security officers to show your identification.
“I’d love that,” you smiled, “I’m Y/N, by the way.”
She nodded her head, “Seoyeon.”
It took all willpower to not appear shocked and slightly horrified.
Your mind made every attempt to rationalize so you wouldn’t freak out.
Perhaps this was a coincidence. There was certainly more than one woman with that name. She didn’t have to be that Seoyeon.
You feigned a smile, pointlessly hoping that somehow Jimin or Chaeyoung would come and whisk you away from her.
“It’s nice to meet you, Seoyeon.”
“Next, please.”
The security officer’s voice rang out, calling you up.
You turned away from her and all traces of contentment disappeared. You went slightly pale as you approached the desk, taking out your passport to show.
The officer examined your identification and instructed you to look into the face scanner. Once you were clear, you took off into the next zone. Your mind was spinning as you took off your shoes and put them and your bag into bins. So much that you didn’t hear the airport personnel calling you up when it was your turn to step into the body scanner.
When you were through security, you sat on a small bench and jammed your shoes back on, which was tricky with your feet being as swollen as they were. Seoyeon was right behind you.
She sat on the bench next to you to put her own shoes back on, smiling, “At least after all the waiting, they take you through quick.”
You mustered up a chuckle, “Yeah.”
The pair of you got up at the same time, a couple of pregnant women feeling uncomfortable for varying reasons.
“Come on,” she said, grabbing her bag, “There’s a coffee shop this way.”
Reluctantly, you wheeled your carry-on after her. A part of you wanted to decline, and another was curious to know if this was really her. Was this really the woman who’d broken Jimin’s heart? The one he’d been in love with for longer than he’d known you?
Chaeyoung had mentioned that she ended up marrying a wealthy man, and this woman was dressed in fine clothing. Her suitcase was designer, but that didn’t confirm anything.
You just wanted to know.
You ended up sitting down at the coffee shop with her, ordering yourself a decaf iced latte. Sitting across from her, you got a much clearer view of her face. She was gorgeous. Aside from nearly perfect hair and a flawless complexion, her lips were a pretty bow shape, stained with a nude rose color. Her eyes casted a twinkle. She even smelled lovely, like jasmine.
“So,” she sighed happily, removing the paper wrapping from her straw while glancing at your shirt again, “You said you’re going to LA on a work trip. What do you do?”
You had no idea how to answer. If she was the Seoyeon and you told the truth about your job, then maybe your answer would trigger a response in her to give you confirmation. Then again, would you want to share that information? You were meant to be discreet, and certainly in your situation, you were in no place to be risky.
You used taking a sip of your coffee as a means of buying yourself time to think of a response.
“I’m in fashion,” you said after swallowing, “There’s a shoot I’m working on.”
She seemed intrigued, “Wow, that sounds amazing. I once envisioned myself going into a creative field like that. But I’ve been around the industry a bit and I found it…challenging.”
Though still lacking one hundred percent certainty, that comment didn’t help her case. You came closer to believing it was her.
You took another sip of your cold, bitter drink, “Did you? How come?”
“Ah, it’s not important,” she waved it away with a laugh, regaining a sense of nonchalance, “Just isn’t my scene. I mean you saw with BTS coming through here. It’s pandemonium, chaos.”
You raised your brows, “Yeah. Anyway, what do you do?”
She hummed as she sipped on her drink, “I work at my husband’s firm, but I will likely stay at home after the little one gets here.”
Her husband’s firm. You recalled Chaeyoung saying she’d married a CEO. One step closer.
The more it sank in that this was likely the woman, the further the pit in your stomach dug.
“That’s nice,” you nodded, “I’m doing the same.”
“My,” Seoyeon’s eyes were on your collarbone, “We seem to have a lot in common, don’t we?”
You smirked, masking your rising repugnance, “We do.”
At last, your saving grace arrived, though it was awkward as could be. Chaeyoung appeared and spotted you. Her beaming smile faded slightly when she saw who was with you. Despite your own discomfort, you had to play it off as if you had no idea who you were talking to. Your coworker never told you the name of Jimin’s ex. If you gave any indication that you had connected the dots, it could raise suspicion in your friend. You should have had no way of knowing.
“Hey!” she approached you both, “So sorry I’m late. Have you been waiting for me long?”
“No, not at all.” you said.
The woman sitting across from you seemed to recognize her.
Her face was pleasant as could be and she looked at Seoyeon, and then back at you, “Do you two know each other?”
"We just met," you said while glancing across the table, "This is-"
"Seoyeon," Chaeyoung nodded, bowing to her politely, "I remember perfectly. Um, I don't know if you remember me..."
She nodded, "Ah, yes. I do recall your face. You're a stylist, correct?"
Your colleague affirmed, "I'm Chaeyoung."
Then she seemed to put the pieces together, looking at you while sipping her coffee again. When her lips parted from the straw, she grinned at you with a dimmed enthusiasm, "Oh, so you're a stylist too. The same company?"
You both nodded in reply, and her eyes grew a hint of skepticism. She knew you were with BTS, and that you knew her ex. But she didn't know the half of it, and that gave you the upper hand.
"I see," Seoyeon trailed off, unlocking her phone, "Oh! I didn't realize the time. I forgot to mention that my husband is expecting a call from me."
Then she rose from her chair and grabbed her bags, "It was a pleasure to meet you, Y/N. And to see you again, Chaeyoung. Please excuse me."
"Of course. It was nice to meet you as well. I hope you have a great babymoon." you bid her farewell.
With her coffee in hand, she left the cafe area and started in the direction of the gate. Then Chaeyoung sat down in her place, her expression changing to one of flabbergastment.
She put both of her palms down on the table, "Okay, first of all, I'm sorry I'm late. The twins were cranky and I had trouble getting out the door."
You smirked, "It's fine."
"Second of all," she wasted no time in lowering her volume, "That woman is Jimin's ex. The one I told you about."
You pretended to be surprised, though you knew it in your gut already, "Oh, shit. But I thought you said she was a total...well, bitch. Honestly, she was very kind. We started getting acquainted after she helped me up. She seems nice."
"Wait, you fell?" Chaeyoung's eyes were full of concern, "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. It happened when the guys showed up, actually. There was a bit of a scuffle and I got shoved," you shrugged, "Anyway, that's not the point. Funny enough, she's going to LA too."
Your friend looked disturbed, "Right...We may have to give the company a heads-up."
You almost choked on your cold beverage, "What? W-Why?"
"Just out of precaution. Y/N, this person came close to blowing the lid on their relationship and causing a giant press nightmare for the boys. I'll never forget how torn up Jimin was..."
You looked down, "I understand that. But why would she pose a threat now? She's married, she's having a baby of her own. I feel like she's moved on by now. Plus, she was clearly intimidated by us. You saw how she got up and walked away. We made her uncomfortable, maybe even ashamed. I know she probably brings back bad memories, but it's in the past."
You were conscious of the fact that you were partly trying to convince yourself, but you also felt that it was logical. Seoyeon wasn't who she was back then. She was a married, pregnant woman who seemed to have no time to get involved in drama again.
Chaeyoung sighed, "Well I guess for my own moral clarity, I'd still like to notify someone. They'd rather have all the facts, you know?"
There was a pit in your stomach, "Yeah, I suppose you're right."
You finished your coffee before you realized, sipping away nervously as you thought about how you would break it to your boyfriend. If she told Management, they'd certainly give him a call.
To your right and across the wide hallway, there were the giant window panels with a view of the tarmac. A smaller jet roared as it glided down the pavement, lifting off the ground in a tilt.
"That's probably them," Chaeyoung said quietly, "The boys."
Lost in thought, you nodded, voice low, "There they go."
The flight was halfway over. His thumb and his index finger kept rubbing together subconsciously. He was unable to sleep, though weary.
He shifted in his roomy reclining seat. It could turn into a makeshift bed, if wanted. Many of the other members, or at least the ones he could see, had taken advantage of this luxury feature. Some light snoring could be heard - Namjoon’s, but he was sitting on the opposite end of the cabin. The two men still were hardly speaking, even when in close proximity.
Taehyung was nearby and awake, scrolling mindlessly on his phone. His face reflected the light of his screen, as the cabin was dark. It was nearing dusk, still plenty of light outside, but all the windows were shut to allow for better sleeping conditions.
Alert and bored out of his mind, Jimin checked his phone once again to see if you’d replied to his texts. He knew better, aware that you probably put your phone on airplane mode, but couldn’t resist. However, when he saw no reply from you, he sighed and decided to open the window next to him. Perhaps watching the skies could occupy his thoughts for a while.
Taehyung heard his sigh from across the aisle and looked over.
There was never mistaking Jimin’s inner feelings, especially with this second youngest member. Only a couple months apart in age, their bond had always been unique - rocky at times like siblings, but overall especially linked.
The younger cleared his throat and said quietly, “Talk to me, Jimin. What’s up?”
He looked over with a pained expression, not even bothering to conceal anything, “I’m sitting here, on a private jet. With so much space in my seat that you could fit two of me. I can recline and stretch my legs. I could even press this button here and the chair will vibrate on my back.”
He looked around to make sure that no flight attendant or outside individual was nearby. Luckily, their security guards and the attendant were sitting on the other end of the plane, out of earshot.
Jimin leaned closer and lowered his voice, “Meanwhile, my pregnant girlfriend is flying commercial, probably uncomfortable as hell. It just feels so wrong. I should have pushed for her to be onboard with us.”
Taehyung chuckled, “You know why you couldn’t have done that. Then, we’d have to have Chaeyoung as well, and there’s no room.”
“It’s not funny, Tae,” his brows furrowed shaking his head out of annoyance, “We found out at the ultrasound that her blood pressure is too high. If she doesn’t sleep or eat well or keep her stress down, it could be dangerous for both of them.”
His bandmate’s face softened, as did his tone, “Oh shit…I’m sorry, I didn’t know. But she was given the okay to travel anyway?”
Jimin sighed, “Yes. It was more of a warning, not an immediate risk. I know I’m kind of being irrational. If the doctor said it’s fine, then I should trust that. I’m just worried is all.”
Taehyung grinned a little and reached across the aisle to put his hand on his shoulder, giving it a gentle shake, “Well I think that probably just comes with the territory of being an expectant father. It would be concerning if you weren’t worried.”
He nodded, “That may be true, but that does nothing to change my guilt about her comfort. If anyone should have a nice, cozy place to sit for this long journey, it should be her.”
“I agree with you, I do,” the younger said with more reservation, “But it just had to be this way, unfortunately. Y/N has proven she’s tough going through all of this. She’ll be fine and when you two get home you can spend all the time you want doting on her.”
The thought made Jimin chuckle as he leaned back to his original position in the seat, “Actually, she wants to spend time decorating when we get back. She brought all of her wall art and fake plants with her. Safe to say I think my apartment is about to undergo a feminine transformation.”
Taehyung laughed in return, “Nothing wrong with that. You barely decorated your place to begin with. It could use some wall art and fake plants and shit.”
“And throw pillows,” he laughed quietly as he thought of you carrying in that giant black trash bag full of them, “So many pillows…”
The other shrugged, “Eh, let her make it what she wants. Make the place more homey before the little bundle of joy gets here. You have a nursery to build too, my friend.”
His head his the back of the seat, “I know. So much to do. We haven’t even discussed names yet.”
“You still have months for that.” Taehyung said.
There was a silence that fell between them, both daydreaming for a moment. Jimin pictured what was currently a guest bedroom transformed into a nursery, perhaps painted a different color. Toys littering the floor. A crib along the wall with a mobile hanging overhead. A small, precious new person tucked safely in its confines. He couldn’t stop envisioning a baby girl in a pink onesie.
“You’re so ooey-gooey,” Taehyung chuckled, “Looks good on you.”
He shrugged, but he couldn’t contain his smile, “It’s been a lot, but thank you.”
*The next day*
Your alarm went off, and you were already awake from the hunger. You got in late the night before and found a small bite to eat, but you were still ravenous.
Hotel breakfast would begin in half an hour, giving you enough time to shower and refresh. After breakfast, you and Chaeyoung would head over to the site of the music video shoot and get to work.
Stepping out of the shower, your phone was vibrating on the sink counter. It was Jimin. You felt guilty when you saw his name appear, having missed a call from him last night. You were just too tired.
You picked up, “Morning.”
His soft, hoarse morning voice brought you comfort, as always, “Hey. You alright sweetheart?”
“Hm? Oh, yeah. Just exhausted.”
“I am too,” he said, “How was yesterday?”
“Fine," was your answer out of habit, but then you remembered the news you had to share with him about the person you met, "Actually, um, there was a slight hiccup of sorts. I, uh...I got pushed."
You chickened out, squeezing your eyes shut and putting a hand to your forehead as soon as the regret hit you. He had to know - the company would inevitably reach out to him once Chaeyoung explained it. Though you knew it was best to be the one to tell him, it was unbearably awkward, and you didn't want to add more stress to the pile. It would mean opening a whole new can of worms.
What Jimin heard was more than enough to send him into a tizzy, "What? Was it deliberate? Were you hurt?!"
"N-No," you stammered, "It happened while you guys were entering the airport. That rush of people. Someone blew right by me and knocked me over. But I'm alright. I landed on my hands and knees.”
You heard him let out a long breath, “Oh, good. Y/N, please don’t scare me like that. You know I already feel bad about not being with you.”
A pang of guilt jolted in your chest for avoiding the truth, “Sorry, I know. Um…I guess what I’m trying to tell you is something else. After I fell, a woman helped me up. She-”
You heard the sound of a door in the background, followed by a muffled voice.
Jimin muttered something before getting back to you, “Shit, baby I’m going to have to let you go. We need to head down for the overview while they are prepping the set. Um, we’ll find a minute to talk there, okay?”
“Oh,” you stiffened, “Yeah, sure. I’ll see you there soon.”
“Great, eat a good breakfast, hm? I love you.”
You pulled a subtle smile, “I will. Love you too.”
Once you hung up, there was no reason to do anything other than get ready for your day. You took care of your hair and makeup, and put on whatever clothes that would fit you and permit you to look the least bit presentable. Then, you grabbed your purse and went down to meet Chaeyoung for breakfast.
The morning was pleasant with her. She made little to no mention of Seoyeon - just talked about the shoot and the baby. It had been a while since she checked in with you.
She forked a bite of scrambled eggs, “So, how is everything? You just had your ultrasound, right? All good?”
You smiled as you chewed, “Yep, all good. And no, we didn’t find out the gender.”
She laughed, “That was going to be my next question. I’m intrigued that you used ‘we’ instead of ‘I’, though. Care to explain?”
Her smile was for lighthearted gossip, so it didn’t bother you that much. You’d gotten used to lying to her face.
“Yes, the father was there,” you sighed, sitting back in your chair, “He missed the first one and really appreciated being there for this one.”
“And did you appreciate him being there?”
You grinned, “Yes, as a matter of fact I did. We get along…And I think he will make the most incredible father.”
Chaeyoung subtly pointed her index finger at you, “I’m detecting a blush on your cheeks. You’re really into this guy, huh? Do I get to know his name now?”
You giggled to hide your dismay, “Once again it’s a no. I told you, he’s private. Maybe I like him too much to disregard his wishes.”
She teased, “Oooo, alright I can get behind that. I’m sort of jealous of you, actually. Having a baby, enjoying a fun little love affair. And on top of that, you’re traveling across the world. You’re killing it.”
You nodded and smiled, but your spackle job crumbled. Bit by bit, your pleasant expression faded, and then soured. Your heart was racing. Your gut was churning. Tears pricked your eyes and you gulped, all while maintaining a nodding motion of your head.
It was all railing you over at once.
Your secret relationship with one of the most famous men in the world. Your unexpected motherhood. The friend of your partner who hated you. Your probable job loss. Your parents who weren’t speaking to you. The ex girlfriend who had re-appeared like some cruel joke from the universe.
It hardly came out as a whisper, “Y-Yeah.”
Chaeyoung’s lightness dropped immediately. She leaned in, concern plaguing her features, “Hey…Hey, what is it? Did I say something?”
A tear rolled down your cheek as you shook your head, reaching for your napkin so you could dry your eyes, “No. I’m sorry, I’m okay. I just…It’s been difficult at times. And on top of all of it, the OBGYN gave me a warning about my blood pressure. It’s been elevated and I feel like it’s just been one more thing to worry about.”
Her hand found yours, “I get it. I’m sorry, I should have known. I should have remembered that feeling, when everyone is so happy and excited that you’re pregnant but you feel like complete shit on the inside.”
You forced a short-lived grin, “Yeah, it’s hard.”
If she only knew.
Chaeyoung patted the back of your hand a few times as she leaned to her side, apparently digging for something in the purse that lay by her feet, “I was going to save this for another time, but I guess now’s as good as ever.”
She pulled a small, thick book out of her purse and set it on the table, “For you.”
You picked it up, sniffling, “A baby naming book.”
The sweet woman smiled softly, “When I felt overwhelmed carrying the twins, a little escape would always help me. I found that going through all the names in this book was a comfort. I got to forget about all the hard stuff and focus on my babies. What their names might be. Who they might become. Only the good stuff. Maybe give it a shot?”
You wiped another tear and smiled, grateful to have a friend, “Chae…This is so kind. Thank you so much. This probably doesn’t come as a shock, but I haven’t started thinking about names yet.”
She shrugged happily, “Well you will now. It’s fun.”
You both finished your meal and ordered a ride to the Los Angeles Theatre, the set of the music video.
“Holy shit,” Hoseok smirked, bobbing his head as he checked himself out in one of the building’s ornate gold mirrors, “You guys did amazing with the looks. Wow.”
You and Chaeyoung laughed, watching all the guys look at each other’s clothes in delight. They were all dressed and made up, waiting on the director to give them the signal to begin filming.
Jungkook, who was in a corset, was particularly pleased, “Yes. Chef’s kiss, ladies. Thank you. They match the venue perfectly.”
Chaeyoung murmured in your ear, “I wish my waist was that fucking small.”
You covered your mouth as you giggled, “Mine certainly isn’t.”
Even Namjoon seemed content, joking here and there with Yoongi. Ironically, his was one of your favorite outfits of all. It was a black suit with a simple yet bold cargo detail on one side, a satin band to highlight his torso. Nothing highly elaborate, but cool. Complete with lug-sole boots, it was the perfect mix of debonair and rugged.
While the others goofed around in the spare time, Jimin approached both of you stylists. It was the first glimpse of him up-close since you said goodbye at your apartment the day before. He looked beyond words, hair dyed a bluish black for this concept. It was the first time in a while you’d seen him with anything other than his natural hair, but he pulled almost anything off.
He bowed slightly as he greeted you, wishing he could bring you into his arms instead, “Thank you both. How was your flight?”
Chaeyoung crossed her arms, “Ah, you know. Awful.”
You elbowed her gently and reassured Jimin, “It really wasn’t that bad.”
Your colleague rubbed your back, endeared by your fib, “Says the one who is five months pregnant. It’s alright to admit it sucked.”
You shrugged a little and looked at your boyfriend, “Alright it did kind of suck. I had to periodically get up and take walks up and down the aisle, just to stretch. I was able to sleep a bit, though. It was just a lot of sitting.”
You knew that would ease his concern a level.
“Speaking of sitting,” Chaeyoung said, craning her neck to either side in search of something, “Let’s find you a chair, shall we? Being on your feet for long periods will increase your blood pressure, girl.”
Before you could say a word, she was off to find something for you to sit in. Jimin looked quite pleased with this. He inched closer to you and grinned, “Thanks for telling her like I asked. She’s a good friend.”
You nodded, “She is. She also gave me a baby naming book.”
He chuckled, “Ah, so when we get home, we can talk about names while finding a way place for the million throw pillows you brought, hm?”
You laughed, narrowing your eyes in jest, “I would love that actually, thank you very much.”
A comfortable silence arose between you two. He just took you in, dressed in jeans and a short-sleeved black top that likely wouldn’t fit in a matter of weeks.
Maybe this was the time to tell him. You didn’t know when Chaeyoung aimed to get in touch with the company, but you doubted she’d wait very long.
You checked your surroundings quickly before muttering, “Jimin, I-”
Then a deeper voice called to him, “Hey.”
Both of you looked to find Namjoon, the members filtering away to the filming area behind him. His hands were in his pockets, eyes switching between you and Jimin for a second. Even a brief stare from him was intimidating. Then he cocked head towards the set, “We’re starting.”
Jimin’s eyes went cold, but not bitter. He nodded without a word before turning to you once more, “Sorry, really quickly, what were you going to say? Is it what you wanted to tell me earlier?”
You froze for moment, locked in a dilemma. You hated to let it slip by again, but you had to. It could wait until the end of the shoot.
“Uh, nothing,” you grinned, “Later.”
He agreed reluctantly, “Alright. Go sit down, please.”
Then he went off to join the guys. The shoot commenced right on schedule. For a while, you and Chaeyoung sat in the background, watching them perform to a much more contemporary choreography than normal. The song was called “Black Swan”. It was beautiful and artistic - and Jimin was perfectly in his element. He sank into his craft wholeheartedly, fluid and precise with every movement, right down to his finger tips.
Watching him do what he was born to do made you warm inside. You were proud of him, while also relieved that he had his performances to escape the chaos. It was like his character disappeared, and he took on a new persona. He was freer.
In between takes, you and Chaeyoung would refresh their looks wherever you could. They would film certain parts of the choreography in different places. Each setting called for different looks, and it was your job to help them get settled quickly.
At one point, they were directed to take shoot both still shots and parts of the dance at this grand staircase. The wardrobe for this setting consisted of black suits with black, reflective rhinestones in varying places.
You divvied up the task of lint rolling all the jackets. You and Chaeyoung went through each member with haste, to a point where the only two left were Jungkook and Namjoon. She went in the direction of the youngest member before you could, leaving you to handle the one you wasn’t particularly fond of you.
Maintaining your dignity and a sense of security, you approached him as you would anyone else.
Jimin was subtly but dutifully observing from a distance.
You smiled at the tall man, who was blonde now, “Hey.”
He offered a congenial grin in return, “Hey.”
You felt so pathetic, rolling the sticky paper down his sleeves.
“How are you, uh, feeling?” Namjoon asked.
You didn’t know if he was trying to be genuine or if he simply didn’t want to deal with an awkward silence. Caught off guard by the remark, you took a moment to answer in a hush, “I’m alright. I appreciate you asking. How are you?”
“I’m doing okay,” he said, biting the inside of his cheek, “Look, I don’t know if this is the place, but I’m sure you know what’s been going on between me and him.”
You glanced at Jimin. He was leaning against the large and gorgeous post of the staircase, now with a fire in his eyes. His head was tilted slightly downward as he glared at the situation unfolding before him. He couldn’t hear what was being said, but he could see something was off-kilter. If Namjoon was about to try anything with you, he’d have hell to pay.
You started to lint roll the back of his jacket, “I have heard, yes. It’s…That’s not what I want for you guys.”
“Me too.” he lamented.
The real regret was palpable in his voice. It made you pity him, in a way. It reminded you that he wasn’t truly a good man, with a good heart.
Namjoon continued, “I realized I never gave you the chance to defend yourself. So I’m asking you now, Y/N…Do you, in any way, have bad intentions towards Jimin? Do you seek notoriety out of all of this, even the slightest bit?”
Your stomach was in a coil. In one respect, you were glad to have been given the chance to speak for yourself, but it was such an unexpected move on his part that you fumbled for an answer.
You took a deep breath and let the words out as confidently as you could, “I do not and have never thought so lowly of him that I would deceive him like that. My feelings have always been real. That is the truth.”
He was quiet as you went about your work. When you finished, he nodded to you and walked away to go join the guys.
You knew your boyfriend was still looking at you, searching for your eyes to know if you were okay. You avoided his gaze, feeling somewhat dirty. It was odd - you had told Namjoon the truth, but you felt shameful that someone really felt the need to ask you that.
You tore the used lint paper off the roll and crumpled it in your hand as you and Chaeyoung reunited off-set. You sat back down on your collapsible chairs behind all the crew, fading into the background once again.
As the leader of the group climbed the staircase to his position as directed, Jimin grabbed his wrist. It looked like a gentle hold to everyone who might have been able to see it, and he was mindful to keep a composed demeanor. His face was totally neutral.
He and Namjoon shared a look. You noticed and prayed he wouldn’t start anything.
From afar, you watching Jimin crane his neck the tiniest length to one side. His lips didn’t move. He just wanted the other to see his expression. He wanted him to know he’d seen that little interaction, and he wasn’t happy.
The tense moment was over in a couple of seconds, and they went back to performing for the camera.
Well into this portion of filming, Chaeyoung nudged your arm and whispered to you, “What were you and Jimin talking about?”
Your heart dropped, “Nothing. Just joking around. You know how he is.”
She sounded apprehensive, “You didn’t tell him about Seoyeon, did you?”
Timidly, you replied, “No.”
“Good,” she sighed, “I wouldn’t want him to know that I told you about her. Oh well, he will be getting a call from Management sometime today, most likely. I told them early this morning. Don’t worry, you’ll be safe. They know you had no way of knowing who she was.”
You nodded, “Right…Thanks for doing that. H-How do you think he’ll take it?”
She shrugged, pursing her lips as both of you watched the guys go about their routine, the song playing in the background, “Honestly, I don’t know. He’s been really great without her. But this is going to come out of nowhere and it might stress him out. It's just a little mess.”
You looked at your shoes, “Yeah.”
You and him kept sharing periodic eye contact throughout the rest of the shoot. It was like he was monitoring you, and you could only assume he’d demand to know what his bandmate had said to you during that little rendezvous.
Each time his eyes floated over to yours, your heart would ache. You held so much adoration for this man. The lengths he would go in order to care for you were more than you could have imagined for yourself. He didn’t just want you to be happy - he chased after it.
You put your hand on your belly, letting in the bond. A part of that wonderful man was growing inside you. His legacy and yours.
As your thumb stroked up and down, you felt a light tapping from within.
It was here, finally. The child in your womb was moving with enough force for you to feel it.
Tears welled up. After everything, this baby was growing strong. Your world had been turned upside down. You’d been under more duress than ever in your life, yet your child was healthy. You were both soldiering through it all.
You closed your eyes, relaxed in your chair, and smiled as the taps continued.
Chaeyoung caught this. While she was grinning, she was confused, “What’s got you so gleeful?”
You looked at her, “The baby’s moving.”
Your friend shared your excitement as you peered back to find Jimin. He was focused on his work. You couldn’t help but think your little one was trying to dance with him.
The boys were celebrating in Hoseok's hotel suite late at night. They always did this after completing a music video shoot, which was no small feat. Someone ordered a few bottles of champagne to toast, and more drinks were bound to flow afterward. However, one could cut the tension between two of the members with a knife. Now it could finally be brought up, and Jimin wouldn't miss that chance.
As soon as the leader plopped down on the sofa, Jimin sat next to him.
The air between them wasn't hostile - just strained. It wasn't enough to deter any of the other members from having fun with one another. They hardly noticed at all.
Jimin leaned forward with his elbows on his thighs, holding a champagne flute in the middle of his legs. He simply sighed. Namjoon situated his right ankle on his left knee and let his posture relax and recline.
The younger of the two chuckled ironically, "Do I really need to ask?"
Namjoon smirked, taking a sip from his glass, "Did I chew into your girlfriend? Of course not."
"She looked uncomfortable with you from where I was standing."
"Yeah, well you were standing pretty far away."
"Namjoon," Jimin's teeth were nearly at a grit, "What did you say?"
The older let out a breath and shifted forward, meeting his eyes and softening his tone, "Out of fairness, I asked her if her intentions were benevolent."
No longer could he maintain his cool, but he kept his voice low, "What?"
"Yeah, I flat out asked her. We were being cordial, and so I just thought I'd give her the chance to speak for herself."
Jimin's tone was dripping with revulsion, "Well how very generous of you, Joonie. How very gracious. You showed her so much respect by asking her if she's a fucking gold digger!"
The raised voice drew the attention of the others.
He went on, "What the fuck is wrong with you?! Don't you realize that by asking her that question, you were essentially calling her that?!"
"Jesus Christ, you guys," Yoongi groaned, "What now?"
The infuriated man gulped down the rest of his drink and set the glass firmly down on the table in front of them. Then he stood up and looked at Namjoon, gesturing to the group with his hands with flaring nostrils, "Tell them, huh? Tell them what you just told me."
The man on the couch put up his hands in self-defense before calmly stating, "Today at the shoot, I asked Y/N if she has good intentions."
Several eye rolls and sighs came about.
Jungkook was almost as frustrated as Jimin, "What the hell, hyung?"
"That's a bit much." Taehyung remarked.
"I was seriously trying to be fair, okay?" the head of the group objected, "I felt bad that this whole drama centered around her has been happening behind her back. I wasn't trying to fucking intimidate her. We were talking like adults and I honestly thought it would be the right thing to do."
"You thought it would be good to ask our friend's pregnant girlfriend if she's only in it for fame and money?" Hoseok scowled.
"I'll admit that it sounds so much worse when you put it like that, but yes."
Jimin threw his hands up in his exasperation, “It sounds bad because it is!”
Jungkook came to his aid, patting his back to try to get him to calm down, “Hey, just relax. The yelling doesn’t help anything.”
“No, I’m fucking sick of his foolish, insane agenda! It was bad enough when you were saying these things to me, but now you go and take it straight to Y/N?! She’s carrying my child! She doesn’t need you and your ridiculous false assumptions cast down from up there on your high horse!”
This time, Jin tried to soothe the enraged member, “Alright let’s just take a breather, okay?”
He put his hands on his shoulders, but Jimin broke out of it immediately, “Stop acting like you know everything, Namjoon! Just because you are the leader of this group on paper doesn’t mean you are the fucking alpha! You don’t know!”
Namjoon couldn’t take it anymore. He shot up, “I know you, Jimin! And I knew you at your very worst! At your lowest! You don’t remember?! The day Seoyeon ended things, who was at your side?!”
Yoongi tried to stop him, “Joon, you don’t-”
“Who, Jimin?! Who checked on you every day, only to find you drunk and saying you didn’t want to live anymore?! Who helped you wash the bloodstains from your shirt after you broke a fucking fifth of whisky and cut yourself trying to clean it up wasted?!”
Jimin was still fuming, but speechless. He was just a tight ball of nerves.
“I did! I fucking did! I don’t ever want to see you in that state again and I won’t apologize!”
“SHE IS NOT SEOYEON!”
Just then, his phone began to ring. With veins popping out of his neck and a face red, he stopped.
Everyone was frozen, shocked by the outburst. They’d never seen him scream at anyone like that.
The phone kept ringing.
Aggravated beyond words, Jimin rolled his eyes, “Where’s my goddamn phone?”
Yoongi found it resting on the dresser against the wall. He picked it up and looked at the screen, eyebrows furrowing, “Uh, it’s Management…”
The anger slowly drained from his demeanor. They rarely called out of the blue, but when they did, it was almost never good.
Jimin calmed his breathing and pushed a tuft of hair out of his face, taking the device out of Yoongi’s grasp.
Everyone remained quiet as he answered.
“Hello?”
“Jimin,” a familiar manager’s voice came through, “Apologies, I know it’s late over there.”
“It’s alright. What’s going on?”
There was a brief pause before the reply.
“Seoyeon is in LA. And I’m afraid she met and spoke to the styling team that traveled with the group.”

About a week later, you were finally feeling better and Logan brought date night to you in your living room. He had laid out a blanket on the floor with dinner set out on it. He was currently sitting against the couch with you leaning against him, sitting between his legs. The two of you were silent, enjoying the soft music Logan had playing in the background. Logan’s arms were wrapped around you, holding you to him as his head rested against yours, occasionally pressing kisses against it.
Logan could tell that something was on your mind, the way you were tense against him and fiddling with the sleeves of his shirt. But Logan wasn’t going to press you into speaking right now. He had a feeling that you’d tell him. He was simply trying to enjoy this moment: having you in his arms. Your skin wasn’t as cold as it had been since the incident, so he was going to take that as a win.
You leaned your head back onto Logan’s shoulder as your thoughts spiraled. You were getting sicker, quicker than you cared to admit. And you got a call today that only reminded you of how helpless you were.
“Lo?” You breathed out.
“Hm?” He hummed, pressing a kiss to your temple.
“I… I got a call today.”
“Yeah?”
“It was from my job… They fired me because I miss too many of my shifts.”
“What? They can’t do that.”
“They can. And they’re right… and, if we’re honest with ourselves, I’m only going to miss more.” Logan tried to ignore the reason why you would miss so many more shifts. “Laura and I going to have to find another place to live.”
“No.”
“Lo—“
“Not a chance. You cannot move. How am I supposed to help you if you’re not right here?”
“I can’t afford it, Lo. I’m sorry. It’s killing me to even think about moving. And I haven’t even told Laura yet. I don’t want her to quit school. She has to continue forward, despite everything with me.”
“What if… and hear me out, baby… what if I move in with you?”
“I can’t ask you—“
“You’re not. I’m making plenty for the rent and have saved a lot of money to help with Laura’s tuition as well. I can just sleep on the couch or I can still stay at Wade’s and just help out. Baby…”
Logan leaned to the side and pulled your legs into you. He then carefully maneuvered you to face him. Your eyes met his gaze and you lost your breath. He was looking at you with just seriousness and love that it caught you off guard. His large, rough hand came up to cradle your face.
“Let me help you,” he whispered. “Please, baby, let me take care of you… while I can, for as long as I can.”
“Lo,” you breathed out. Your head was slowly moving closer to his, your eyes falling to his lips.
“Yeah, baby?”
You leaned in further but before you could actually pressed your lips against yours. Laura came walking into the apartment. You pushed yourself away from Logan, trying to hide the embarrassment showing on your face.
“Oh! I’m so sorry!” Laura exclaimed, taking in the scene. “I didn’t realize—“
“It’s fine,” you quickly said, gathering the dishes to clean up.
“No, it’s not,” grumbled Logan.
“I can just go over to Wade’s,” Laura tried.
“Moment’s ruined. How was work and school today, kid?”
“It was good. How was your day?”
“Could have been better.” He glanced over at where you were now in the kitchen, washing the dishes.
“Sorry,” Laura whispered.
Logan ignored her as he began cleaning up. He kept glancing over at you, thinking about how the two of you almost had kissed. He wasn’t all too happy with Laura interrupting their moment, but he knew that it wasn’t truly her fault. Logan was beginning to wish he kissed you months ago, but understood that going at your pace was the most important thing now.
Laura headed to her room, not wanting to ruin whatever was happening between you and Logan more than she already had. You and Logan cleaned up in silence.
“I should probably let you rest,” Logan said as he wiped his hands dry.
“Yeah, okay,” you mumbled.
The two of you walked to the door. You opened it but the two of you stood there, gazing at each other.
“Thanks for tonight,” you quietly thanked. “And thanks for your offer.”
“I’m serious, darlin’. Let me take care of things,” he repeated. “Let me do this while I still can.”
“I don’t want to be a burden.”
“Baby,” his hands came up to gently hold your face, “please stop thinking so negatively of yourself. It hurts me when you say things like that.”
“Sorry…” Your hands came up to grasp onto Logan’s wrists, rubbing your thumbs along his pulse points. “I can’t help it.”
He pressed a kiss to your forehead. “Then I’m gonna have to keep reminding you about how amazing and beautiful you are.”
You rolled your eyes and giggled, “Lo.”
“It’s all true, doll. Every word.”
“I’m so lucky that I have you, Lo… I’m so blessed.”
Logan smiled at your words before his eyes fell to your lips. Your eyes fell to his lips. You took a step closer, dropping your hands from Logan’s wrists to wrap around his waist. Logan leaned in closer and your eyes fluttered close.
“There you are, Peanut!” Wade exclaimed, coming out into the hall.
You bit your lip as you stepped away, letting go of Logan. His hands dropped to his sides, clenching into fists as his claws poked out.
“Fuck!” Logan muttered.
“I’m going to head to bed,” you said. “Goodnight, Wade. Goodnight, Lo.”
“Night, Buttercup!” Wade said as you slipped into your apartment and shut the door. “Anyway, I have something for you, Peanut.”
“What could you possibly have for me that you needed to interrupt us?” Logan was clearly frustrated, which did not phase Wade.
“Here!” Wade handed over a box.
“A watch? Are you fucking serious?”
“It’s a smart watch1 It will allow you to stop losing track of time and for all of us to get a hold of you easier.”
“I hate you.”
Logan shoved the box into Wade’s chest and stomped into their apartment.
“Is this because you need to get laid?” Wade shouted, following after the man. “Because I can totally help—“ Wade was cut off when claws plunged into his head. “Ouch.”
~~~
Despite the poor timing for the gift giving, Logan still woke up the next day and put on the stupid smart watch. He went to work as usual and on the way home, picked up your favorite treat. When he came into your apartment, Logan wasn’t surprised to see Wade already there for dinner. What he was surprised about was that you and Wade were sitting at the table and Laura was working on dinner in the kitchen.
“Lo!” You greeted happily as he sauntered over to you.
“Hey, baby,” he smiled. “Got you something.”
“You didn’t need to, Lo.”
“Wanted to. Here.” He pulled out your favorite treat and handed it to you.
“I was just craving these! You must be a mindreader.”
“Only yours, doll.” He leaned down and kissed your forehead.
“Hey! You’ve been living with me and you’ve never once brought me a treat!” Wade complained. “I even gifted you that watch you’re clearly wearing. I feel under appreciated here, Peanut.”
Logan rolled his eyes. “What? You want a forehead kiss, too?”
“You know what? Maybe I do! I deserve one for putting up with your grumpy ass all the time.”
“Oh my gosh,” you laugh. “If he bought you that watch, Lo, I think he deserves a forehead kiss.”
“I agree,” Laura piped in with a teasing smirk.
“Three against one here, babe.”
Logan immediately caught the new nickname and cheeks flooded his cheeks. You didn’t seemed phased at all, which was fine. He didn’t want you to stop calling him that. He would do anything for you, including give Wade a kiss on his forehead.
“Fine,” Logan huffed.
Leaning down, Logan’s lips don’t get the chance to touch Wade’s forehead before Wade quickly moves and plants a wet kiss on Logan’s lips. Logan’s claws were out in record time and plunged into Wade, shoving him back.
“I fucking hate you,” Logan growled.
You and Laura were cackling, tears springing in your and Laura’s eyes at what had just happened.
“That was great!” You laughed.
“Wait, you’re not jealous, Buttercup?” Wade taunted. “I bet he’ll finally kiss you, too, if you ask him.”
“Wade—“
“Maybe I can finally fucking kiss her if we stopped getting interrupted!” Logan shouted. The room fell silent for a moment after Logan’s outburst. You reached out to grab his wrist but he pulled away. “I need a minute.”
“Lo—“
“I won’t be long.”
You watched as Logan hurried out of the apartment, practically slamming the door behind him. You glared at Wade.
“You went too far,” you told him, shaking your head.
“Hey!” Wade held his hands up. “I’m just trying to help. You both are the slowest movers.”
“Yeah, well, maybe how slow we go doesn’t matter.”
“It does when you’re on death’s door.” Wade immediately knew he had crossed a line when your face fell. “Shit! Buttercup, I didn’t mean—“
“It’s fine, Wade.” You waved him off as you stood up. “I’m going to go find Logan.”
You quickly left. Laura went over to Wade and hit him upside the head.
“Idiot,” she muttered.
~~~
You found Logan on the roof. He was standing, over looking the street with an unlit cigar between his lips. You took a deep breath and moved your fingers ever so slightly. You winced at the pain as Logan’s cigar lit. Logan jumped at turned around to see you cradling your hand.
“Shit, baby,” he dropped the cigar and rushed over to you. “Why did you do that?”
“I’m fine.”
Logan took your hand and closely examined it. Your finger tips were blackened with little blisters already forming. His heart was breaking at the sight.
“You shouldn’t have done that,” he whispered.
“Sorry,” you quietly responded. “I just wanted to do something for you… I’m sorry for Wade.”
“You don’t need to be apologizing for that idiot.”
“And I’m sorry that we keep getting interrupted. If it helps, I want to kiss you too. I’ve wanted to for a while now, just been too nervous.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah… you make me nervous.”
Logan chuckled. “You have know idea how nervous you make me, baby… So, can I kiss you?”
“Mhm,” you hummed.
Slowly, the two of you went in. Your noses bumped causing the two of you to pull back with a laugh.
“Here,” Logan muttered.
He gently took your hands and placed them on his waisted before his hands came to carefully cradling your face. You closed your eyes, allowing Logan to take the lead on this. His lips barely brushed against yours, hesitant to take the leap. But then his lips captured yours. It had been years since either of you had truly kissed anyone like this and you were both a little rusty, but that didn’t matter. You gripped his waist tighter as you melted further into the kiss.
Suddenly, you both were jumping as Logan’s new watch beeped in your ear. Logan groaned as he pulled away and allowed you both to look at his watch. You bit back a laugh as you read ‘abnormal heart rate detected’ on the screen. Logan’s face instantly heated up in embarrassment as his watch clearly called him out on how affected he was.
“Damn watch,” Logan grumbled, ripping it off and throwing it across the roof. “I’m sorry, doll. That was embarrassing.”
“It’s fine, but am I going to have to worry about you having a heart attack if we kiss again?”
“Not a chance, baby.”
Logan pulled you in for another kiss, less hesitant this time. You let Logan take the lead again, just enjoying kissing him. When the two of you finally parted, your foreheads rested against each other.
“Be my girlfriend,” Logan panted softly.
You smiled. “Thought you’d never ask.”
